The instrument cluster "flickers" due to a bad connection. This cluster contains the odometer, fuel gauge, and other vehicle information. It does not work at all when the outdoor temperature is cold. I took this to my Honda dealer and they state it was a bad connection and I would have to pay to replace the whole cluster for $1800. This is unacceptable and Honda should have to fix this as it is a known problem - this has the potential to cause an accident for someone to run out of gas in busy traffic. And not being able to see the odometer/mileage or oil life indicator is not acceptable. This has been a life of the car problem which has gotten worse and is no longer working no matter the outside temperature.
Odometer display issue-I’m having an issue where the odometer/trip/fuel display is dark when I start the car and then it will flicker on and off.
Component/System that failed: Fuel mileage range display began fluctuating erratically after a fuel pump recall repair on [XXX], at Open Road Honda, Edison, NJ. Is it available for inspection? Yes. How safety was put at risk: The fuel range display jumps unpredictably (30+ miles up or down), especially after refueling. This causes a driving distraction by pulling my focus from the road. Has the problem been confirmed by a dealer or service center? Open Road Honda confirmed the issue, stating the system lost 63,000 miles of driving data during recall repair and won’t stabilize until 100,000 miles are driven. A second Honda dealer said this is not normal and recommended diagnostics. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer or others? Yes. Inspected multiple times by Open Road Honda and reviewed by their District Parts & Service Manager (DPSM) from American Honda, who called it a “normal characteristic” post-recall. Honda Corporate opened a case but found the explanation unreasonable. Warning lamps or messages: None. When symptoms first appeared: Days after the recall repair in February 2025. Summary: I provided photo/video evidence and returned multiple times for service, but the issue remains unresolved. The head mechanic told me to “just not look at the mileage range.” The problem began after the recall and continues, causing distraction. I request investigation and a proper fix to restore the vehicle’s original condition. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
i made an appointment with Garden State Honda of Passaic, NJ located (225 River Drive Passaic, NJ 07055) after waiting months for an appt. finally took my car today 01/20/2025 and when at the Counter rep named Chelsea state that their honda dealer could not honor nor repair my car due to how I purchased the car in an action.. My understanding is even though I purchase a salvaged vehicle the issue is with a recall part from Honda not the car..Now my vehicle has been parked for months waiting for this appt. Has too many lights due to this fuel pump recall and I cant even get my inspection sticker since its now expired with NJ due to the many lights the car has on. I need some help and guidance as to what can be done
I received several recall notices for the fuel pump impeller. I understand that there are no parts available to fix the vehicles’s faulty issue. However, all notices indicate a safety risk of crash or injury. I just received another notice and I can see that this recall was first reported in December of 2023. I feel that I am at risk, based on the information provided on the recall notices. Is there a limitation on the amount of time that it takes The dealership to make the necessary repairs? One year seems excessive, when a safety issue has been identified.
I was told about a recall on my car back in May. I was told the part would be available in the Fall. I just called and the fuel pump part is still not available with no date in sight. My car is definitely feeling the affects. Not sure why this part is taking forever to come in. Recalls are serious.
Vehicle fuel gauge intermittently operates to the point where the fuel gauge goes completely blank, the issue worsens with the onset of cold weather. Dealer will not repair as a defect and estimated a 1500.00 repair price. This condition can become especially dangerous when operator unable to ascertain fuel level, especially on high speed roadways where vehicle can become disabled due to low fuel levels and vulnerable to being struck by other vehicles. A web based search reveals this is a common customer complaint for this vehicle.
A recall was issued in 2023 for a problem with the fuel pump which can cause a serious accident in the event of a failure. I've received two notices for the recall, however the dealer where I purchased the vehicle has not yet been able to obtain the parts from the manufacturer. I'm very concerned because of the potential consequences of failure of the fuel pump and would like to have the recall remedied as soon as possible.
Speedometer, fuel gauge, mileages, Temperature, not showing up on the dashboard! It’s dark when the car it start up! Just dark screen on the odometer side. It’s start blinkering when you drive for while. It’s happened to the las 3 years and getting worse this year. It’s happened every morning and fewer times in the evening.
HISTORY: Honda service bulletin 21-025 // NHTSA recall 21V-215 // Safety Recall received May 2021. Fuel pump was replaced June 2021 at Beaverton Honda. EVENT: [XXX]; HR-V, without warning stopped while traveling [XXX] (mp 55), southbound in passing lane. Resulted in full stop in fast lane. Required transport "tow" to Medford, OR. Honda dealer. Cost us lodging and meals for a week while waiting warranty repair. FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY and WAS REPLACED again! Had to rent a car to return home. Now arranging Auto Transport to return Honda HR-V home in Beaverton, OR. VERY, VERY dangerous for disabled American Vietnam veteran and his wife! Took many hours for screaming, cussing, crying, and PTSD to abate. And then there was the wifey's reaction.......... Car doesn’t seem to accelerate normally or seems to lack proper acceleration. Also the brakes feel funny when braking.
after driving for about an hour, then making a brief (10min) stop at the store, car would crank but not start. After allowing car to cool for ~2 hours, car started fine. Seems to be a fuel pump issue. concerned with future loss of power. car is 5 years old with ~50k miles
The car does not have pickup when attempting to accelerate. Driver must drop the gear down to try and force acceleration. Vehicle was taken to dealership and dealer wanted to charge to diagnose the problem. When it was stated that symptoms mimic those outlined in recall, dealer stated they still need to diagnose to see if the repair is needed. After checking dealer claims debris was blocking the pedal and the problem is not related to recall. However, the pedal was clear of any debris and still drives with loss of power when trying to accelerate.
A dash light indicator came on in my car. The image was not in any of the materials that came with the car. At that time the LCD information on the dash flickered and went out. I cannot see how much gas I have, when I need an oil change, odometers etc. I also seem to have decreased power when I attempt to accelerate . I am also aware of 2 recalls that came out in 2021 and 2023. I had the code read and it indicated an "Evaporative System Leak Detection". As of 5/14/2024 I had 15,828 miles on the car, in about 5 years so it should not be failing. I recently got a new job and am required to commute 50 miles each way. I am so terrified because I have tried the 2 nearest dealers in my area (Union Park Honda in Wilm. DE and Honda of Springfield PA). I have received zero consideration. I have had my car scheduled to go in and I HAVE to call them as I need a loaner. I NEVER move up on the list and then I am treated like I did not show up (I call the day before). When I was young I had anxiety and could not drive. I worked and pushed myself to be able to drive again and I have been for years. These issues are starting to make me more fearful and anxious. I actually asked the CS rep "Jade" where the car was manufactured ( Japan, Korea?) and if I should DRIVE MY CAR TO JAPAN for service. Her exact words were "That is up to you". Unbelievable.
When pushing on the gas pedal, the vehicle often pushes forward aggressively and shifts very hard. Other times it does nothing when pushing on the gas and several seconds later there is throttling and intermittent shaking back and forth. It does not happen all the time, but happens quite often. I fear the vehicle could propel forward when I am driving and hit someone or something or it could slow suddenly with lack of gas putting other drivers in harm's way. I know there is a similar recall on fuel pumps with this vehicles and my vehicle is within the years and types so I do not understand why my vehicle has not been recalled. No warning lights come on and I cannot have someone look at it without having to pay a large fee. I had an appointment in the past, but it does not do it al the time and they tell me they can't help me if it doesn't do it all the time. Thank you.
The digital gauge on this vehicle has intermittent faults. The gauge goes totally blank, sometimes the digits appear scrambled, other times not at all. This gauge includes odometer as well as the fuel gauge, (and other analytical information that is perhaps not as critical). The lack of a reliable working fuel gauge on this vehicle is concerning and may cause driver to unknowingly run out of fuel in places that are totally unsafe - highway, bridge, or some remote location. Another concern is that if the odometer is not working, not accumulating miles, how does a buyer know what she/he is buying? Is the vehicle mileage accurately reflecting the miles on this car? Checking on this on-line I discovered that this is not an isolated problem, and that NHTSA may not be aware of this as car owners may not be reporting this as a safety issue. I also discovered that some Honda dealers have addressed this problem, while others push-back on this and want owners to pay for this repair. I purchased my vehicle three months ago, from a private owner. I was not informed of this problem at time of purchase. I did bring this to Honda's attention and was told to bring it in for service, at my own expense.
I've been stranded at least 5 different times. My fuel pump needs replaced, but with the recall, I won't be able to get it fixed until the Fall 2024. I'm upset because I have to keep worrying about my car for the next 6 months. I've visited the dealership where they couldn't replicate the issues I was having with my car, until after the recall came out and answered the question as to what's wrong with my car. But now I have to wait for 6 months to get it fixed. I shouldn't have to worry about driving my car. I would like a loaner car until the replacement parts come in and my car is fixed. I should not have to pay for this loaner car. I just don't know how Honda expects people to drive a car that may shut down at any time. Please help me.
Vehicle stalls on the highway during longer drive times up to 3 hours. Gas pedal stops working and all dashboard warning lights illuminate. Engine will not restart for several hours but after being towed and some sort of rest period restarts with no issues. Same problem happened on 3 separate occasions. Dealer was unable to recreate or diagnose any issues
I’m very frustrated with Hondas lack of response to the fuel pump recall. Here is what I’ve been told: I called Rusty Wallace Honda in Knox, they told me they can fix my car until earliest November 2024. I called Honda Recall Number- they told me there is nothing they can do at this time. They told me to keep driving it and if something happens to call, but the recall says the call could stall out mid-drive. They also told me they have required all Honda dealers to pull my model from being sold (if this car isn’t safe to sell, why am I driving it?) Rusty Wallace told me they didn’t feel they needed to inspect my car and instead, tried to get me to trade it in and buy a new car (I don’t have a loan and don’t want a new car). I want to feel safe and I drive 35 miles to work one way all highway. The thought of my car stalling is giving me crippling anxiety. Honda is refusing to provide anything to me but to allow me to trade it in. I feel stuck with my car because I tried to go to Subaru to buy a new car with them and they can’t take my car. I don’t want to be stuck with this death machine for 10 months, Honda needs to step up and put me in a rental car.
Since car was new it has surged going up long hills due to fuel pump. Occasionally it would hesitate when pulling out into traffic, causing danger. At 16k miles the fuel pump locked up and left us stranded. After cooling down, the pump worked again well enough for us to get home. This is the same swollen impeller issue affecting around 800k other Honda vehicles of the same make, model, and year in a recall, but the recall does not include our specific VIN. The repair is quoted at the dealership at $1042 for a 1.2 hour repair and an $80 part, according to Honda's own service bulletin (A21-025).
The fuel gauge went blank. I started my car and the screen was black. I had to restart the car and press the button that shows the oil life to get the gauge to come back on. This is a new problem and I have not scheduled service yet. The car also lurches forward sometime when I put my foot on the gas pedal. It jumps like I have pressed the pedal hard. The car also bucks when I am driving. It happens when I am going between 30-40 mph. I told the technician about the problem and he said I am the first person to complain about it.
When the throttle is lightly applied from a stop, the vehicle suddenly leapt forward, as if we stomped on the gas pedal. We almost hit our vehicle in the garage. Other times from a stop, giving it throttle to move the HRV would not accelerate.the HR-V would begin to slow down, even if I applied more throttle. It has happened a few times. We took the HRV to the dealer and they could not resolve the problem.
DIGITAL GAUGE INCLUDING ODOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE RANDOMLY BLANKS OUT FOR PERIODS OF TIME CAUSING YOU NOT TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN. I REPORTED IT TO AMERICAN HONDA BUT THEY ADVISED THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN CONCERN AND HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS.

MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS SEVERAL THAT ARE ALREADY LISTED ON YOUR WEBSITE. SOMETIMES WHEN I BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATES AND TRIES TO TAKE OFF. I HAVE TO LET OFF THE BRAKE AND STOMP ON IT AGAIN AND I FEEL THAT THE ACCELERATOR LETS UP. SOMETIMES WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR STARTS TO SPEED UP ON IT'S OWN. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY "CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM." I WAS TOLD BY ADRIAN FROM HONDA AMERICA " WE WILL DO NOTHING FOR YOU. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR IT ONLY HAD 3400 MILES ON IT SO IT WAS LIKE BRAND NEW. IT DOES IT MOST OF THE TIME WHEN DECELERATING FROM A HIGHER SPEED, LIKE COMING OFF THE FREEWAY AND SLOWING TO STOP AT THE LIGHT.
Mileage: 3,400
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. I EXPLAINED THAT I AM UNABLE TO BRING MY CAR THERE BECAUSE OF HEALTH RELATED REASONS AND THE FACT THAT THE DEALER IS OVER 50 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME. I CAN ONLY DRIVE VERY LOCALLY. I ASKED THE DEALER TO SEND THE FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC`S REPAIR BUSINESS AND HAVE HIM INSTALL IT. I WAS TOLD IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT THIS REPLACEMENT PART RECALL MAY ONLY BE DONE BY HONDA MECHANICS AT THEIR SERVICE CENTER. I EXPLAINED I AM UNABLE TO TRAVEL THERE AND HAVE DISABILITIES MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET THERE. NOBODY ELSE CAN HELP ME. I WAS TOLD THAT I MUST LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY DECISION AND THAT THE PART WILL NOT BE REPLACED. I AM LIVING IN FEAR EVERY TIME I HAVE TO USE MY CAR BECAUSE THE RECALL NOTICE WARNS THAT THIS FUEL PUMP DEFECT MUST BE REPLACED OR THERE EXISTS RISK OF A CRASH IF IT IS NOT REPLACED. PLEASE HELP ME! I DON`T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I AM ELDERLY AND SCARED.
Mileage: 10,550
WHEN PRESSING THE GAS TO BEGIN MOVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, AT A LIGHT ON THE 76 HIGHWAY, THE CAR WILL NOT KICK INTO DRIVE. YOU CAN PRESS THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE ONLY GOES 10 MILES PER HOUR IN TRAFFIC! THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST YEAR!
Mileage: 8,323
CAR LOOSES ACCELERATION AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL IT JUST SLOWS TO UNSAFE LEVELS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS PASSED SATURDAY WHILE IN THE FAST LANE IT JUST SLOWED TO 30 MPH WITH CARS SLAMMING ON BRAKES BEHIND AND TO THE RIGHT OF ME.
Mileage: 14,000
