2023 HONDA HR-V Unknown Or Other Problems

I had just arrived home from a short 2 mile drive and was sitting in my car for a few minutes with the vehicle running when the rear glass suddenly shattered. Confused and startled, I got out of the car to inspect what happened and noticed the the entire glass was shattered and left and right edges broken more than the rest. While taking photos, the middle of the glass caved in. This is a known issue, and the manufacturer issued a recall regarding this. The rear windshield was replaced last December by the dealer.

Me and my grandkids had a scary experience sitting in my 2023 Honda HRV in parking lot with the vehicle off. The back window exploded around the perimeter. The window started making a crackling sound then completely shattered. I have owned the vehicle for just about a year. I took the car to the dealership in regards to this issue and spoke with a manager who approved repairing the window and having an electrical inspection. He advised the window would be ordered and to check back in a few days for repair and inspection. When I reached back out to the dealership I was advised by a tech that the rear glass had NOT been ordered. The rear glass has now been ordered, however, now I'm being told that the glass is on backorder with 149 orders before me. When I asked tech how long it would take to get repaired he didn't have an answer and told me to check every week. In the mean time I asked if the inspection can be done; I'm still pending getting an appointment for the electrical inspection.

I was driving down [XXX] towards Springdale, AR on [XXX] at approximately [XXX]. I was in the middle lane with no cars near me. I didn't go under any bypasses. My sunroof exploded. I did not hit a rock nothing hit me it just imploded. I have already called Honda who said they will do nothing about it. It's a 2023 Honda HRV with 17,000 miles on it. This is not wear and tear. At around 7am Sunday morning, I turned on the ignition and clicked on the defogger because there was condensation on the front and back windshields. I drove away, traveling through quiet residential neighborhoods. Not many people were around. About five minutes later, I heard a crashing sound. I looked up and saw the rear window had shattered. I drove to where I was going--it was a minute away. I got out the car. The entire window was in tiny pieces, with shards of glass falling off.

The Back window blew up and dispersed glass at least 5 ft into my driveway while I was standing behind it. It was very scary and frightening. Fortunately, I did not get hit with any debris. The windows continued to make a crackling sound for several minutes. I had just got a safety recall a few days before and was planning on taking it in but the notification should have been much sooner and marked urgent, for example: Do not drive your car, it may blow up. When I researched, I can see that the issue was known as early as Jan 2024 and I was just notified in September 2024. Also, Honda is not offering loners for the fix even though we have to wait for the window to come in and have no transportation. They should be very accommodating considering the situation - people could really get hurt.

My dad was driving his Honda and the rear window all of a sudden shattered without cause. My dad was so scared. This happened on 9/13/24 at 6pm. Already called Honda about this matter and hopefully I will get a call back with a good news.

Driving today a softball size hole appeared in the back glass (at trunk). There was no sign of a rock or anything else that went through the glass. When the trunk was opened to see if there was anything that had gone through it the entire glass shattered.

I turned on my rear defrost and headed to work. About 15 minutes into my drive, my rear windshield exploded. I thought someone shot it out or threw a rock at it. It scared me a lot causing me to startle while driving. At a stop light I looked a the rear windshield and asked the person behind me if anything hit my car. She didn't see anything hit my car. What I saw was a baseball size hole. As I drove, more of the glass fell out with only a small amount left around the edges by the time I got to work.

Had just parked my car at work and suddenly the back windshield shatters with a huge bam! Sounded like a gun shot. I called the police and they say it had to of spontaneously shattered with no previous damage. It was terrifying

After a 20 minute drive back to house, a smell of something burning became present inside the car. Rolled windows down to let smoke filled cabin escape. Upon arrival inside the garage and after parking car. As I was exiting car, the rear window exploded with my daughter a few feet from back of car. It was loud and recorded on video. Back of window was hot to touch. Honda dealer was quick to blame an impact from a foreign object, along with outside smell of fire entering the cabin while driving to explain away the damages. Also, the window being hot was blamed on a hot sun. Reached out to Honda, and I put in complaint. 3 days later, Honda dealer has been approved to fix problem. No warning lights. Just a strong smell of an electrical short that needs to be found. Glass was everywhere.

In Oct. 13, 2023, I was driving and my back window exploded. The dealership said they could not do anything about it so I had to go to a glass store and have a new one put in when they had availability about 2 weeks later. So I drove with No back window during cold times. I had only had the cat a little over a year.

The rear window shattered while I was in the doctors office. The Honda dealership here replaced the window from a local glass installer because the Honda window is on backorder. They will replace the glass when they receive the Honda window. The rear window defroster has a defect that causes the window to shatter. I'm just glad I wasn't driving when it happened or I could have wrecked. I haven't been charged anything for the window. There wasn't any indication that there was a problem.

We bought this 2023 HRV sport on [XXX] 2024, from the dealer St Louis Honda -Dave Mungenast. It has just under 6,000 miles on it. On Monday [XXX] I was driving on a road, non highway. Driving about 20-25 mph and the rear hatch window shattered. We were not rear ended and nothing was thrown at us. We had a baby sitting rear facing in the back seat. That window could have shattered and blown all over the baby and other passenger in the rear seat causing serious injury. I drove the car to the dealer since we had the car less than 48 hours. We were given a loaner car. On Tuesday, [XXX] I received a call from Matt at the shop dealership. We were told that the back window was on back order and they did not know when they would get one. I’m very concerned that this could’ve caused serious injury to the baby that was in the backseat. And in researching this window I’m finding out that this is a common problem with the HRV. When will this problem go on recall? I bought a Honda because of the safety and reliability that comes with it. Less than 48 hours of having this new car, the back window shattered. While leaving the driveway for work, without any warning the rear windshield shattered. Extremely loud almost like a gunshot. I was driving approximately 10 miles an hour. Upon research by my husband it appears there are several complaints of this happening to this make and model.

My rear windshield suddenly shattered while the car was idling. I this happened because I was using the defrost system, as from my understanding several 2023 HRVs have had their rear windshields shatter from using the defrost system. The windshield "popped" and left a sizeable hole in the corner. As I drove home, the shattered glass fell into my trunk and possibly left pieces of glass on the road. I was worried that my passengers in the rear seats would have glass showered on them. The windshield is available for inspection upon request. I have not yet been able to take it anywhere to be inspected. There were no warnings before the windshield shattered.

On [XXX] at about [XXX] , I was sitting in the driver seat of my 2023 HR-V and the rear windshield exploded and shattered. I was stunned due to the loud noise, much like a gun being fired near my ears and head. After turning head to look to see what caused this event, I did not see any other persons or vehicles near my vehicle. I contacted Honda for road side assistance since the car had less than 36,000 miles. The car has about 33-34000 miles. Honda arranged for vehicle to be towed to Baierl Honda in Wexford PA. I was forced to rent a car to return home, since I was about 70 miles from home. On Monday, [XXX], John from Honda service called me to say Honda has no availability for a loaner vehicle and he needed a few days to look into damage to rear windshield. My auto insurance rep state that I could file a claim to self pay for windshield replacement and to cover auto rental for 10 days. Insurance rep spoke with John of Honda service to determine no of days to cover rental. Auto insurance rep stated GEICO will not pay for Baierl Honda to repair rear windshield and will only pay Safelite glass repair. John stated he needed a few days to investigate damage to vehicle. It is [XXX], and I don’t know if Honda will repair rear windshield. This is a known safety issue with Honda and Acura, windshields and auto glass explodes and shatters. The rear window shattered with no impact or nothing even touching it. Luckily I was parked when it happened but there’s no explanation other than the multiple news articles about this being a known issue with the defroster and rear glass. I contacted my dealer and Honda directly, they both say they know nothing about it. I do have security video of it happening.

I drove the 2023 Honda HR-V to pick up my teen son from school (about 20 min drive one way) around 4:30pm. It was January 2024, so it was cold. He has his learner's permit, so he drove home. We parked the vehicle in the driveway and walked into the house. Just as we entered the front door, I heard what sounded like a minor car accident (fender bender/glass breaking). I walked back out the front door to see what happened but there were no cars in the street. I thought it was strange, but assumed the sound must have been glass breaking from something else besides a car wreck and went back inside. (View of the HRV was obstructed from where I was when I went back to look.) We came back outside a few hours later to drive the car to soccer practice and that's when we noticed the back window of the HR-V had completely shattered. By this time it was dark outside so it was hard to see. We quickly changed to my vehicle to get my son to practice and my husband cleaned up the glass on the HR-V (the car that will be my son's when he turns 16). He did not think to take any pictures. But where the window once was, there was one large gaping hole and then fragments of shattered glass around the edges still in the frame of the back window opening, then shattered bits of glass all over inside the vehicle and on the ground. Thankfully no one was hurt because we had just parked the vehicle and walked away. But what if my NEW DRIVER was driving as that window shattered? Or even me as an experienced driver? This could have caused an accident! That's a real possibility and that's dangerous. It literally just shattered for NO REASON. There was no rock or sign of it being busted. Sounds like SEVERAL other HR-Vs have had the same problem. We are STILL waiting on HONDA to fix the vehicle! Paying insurance on a car we can't drive. My son can't practice driving the vehicle we intended him to use at 16. It's a mess. Please help! Honda needs to recall this product!

The rear windshield spontaneously shattered. It was in the late evening and I had put on the rear defogger. It made a loud sound. My infant daughter and toddler son were in the backseat when it happened. I contacted American Honda (Corporate) and reported it as I read online that hundreds of HR-Vs are having this issue due to the rear defogger. The Honda dealer inspected it and they ordered the part and will be replacing it. We had to pay for a rental car in the meantime, which I didn't feel I should have to pay for since it's a car defect. But corporate said it should be covered under my warranty (I lease the car). There were no warning messages or anything to know this was going to happen. This sounds like the beginning of a recall that needs to be put on HR-Vs immediately.

Rear windshield shattered due to windshield defroster and have not received a recall notice. Safety of driver and other can be at risk, as once shattered, cannot drive at normal speed affecting others nearby and, depending on wind speed, glass continuously falls off and can even fly forward to passengers until it's been replaced. Honda is aware of this issue, but has yet to issue a recall. The vehicle has not been addressed by anyone other than Auto Glass Now, who installed new rear windshield. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptom of the issue prior to the shatter. No police report was submitted, as no vehicles or objects were obstructed at the time the event occurred. I was simply able to pull over.

I was driving and the back glass on my HRV shattered. It was pouring rain and I had been running my rear defrost and wipers and I heard a loud pop and there was glass everywhere.

Car was bought in November/December 2022. Honda was experiencing supply chain issues so had to wait to get a new 2023 model. Around November 2023, the rear windshield glass exploted and shuttered. At first I was told by Honda that they have never heard of that issue; but when I told them that I went to Google and the same situation is happening all over USA, then they said, yes, we know about the problem on this model. They fixed at no cost to me and they provided a rental car as well. I told them that prior to the explosion there was a strong burning smell - later they told me there was probably fumes leaking from the rear windshield glass that was about to explode. In addition, this new car has had a recall (something about the driver's safety belt) and I also mentioned that the steering wheel makes a noise when it goes left or right... the steering wheel feel heavy too. I was then told that that is another issue that certain Honda models are also experiencing. To repair that it will take 6 months for the replacement part to come from Asia so they were not sure if I was able to just keep driving the car (safely) after I made the decision for them to order the part OR I needed to leave my car in their dealer for the length of time until the part arrived. Too many things are happening with the new car... I just want to get a replacement vehicle.

My rear windshield on a 2023 Honda HRV just exploded. My car was parked in the driveway, when we suddenly heard a loud sound with a shatter, the center of the windshield was all shattered into pieces. We are currently dealing with the dealership on this matter.

I was driving home march 15th at 8:23 pm and turned off the rear defroster and then the back glass exploded, sounded like a m80 going off in the car, took car to my honda dealer and was told no glass is covered by the warranty, the service manager inspected the glass on monday and called me and said that honda will do a one time goodwill claim, they ordered the glass, the next day they called me again and told me the back glass is back ordered till May but they could have an after market glass install the next day, so i had them install the aftermarket glass, i mean who can wait 6 weeks for a glass, I need the car. Im not happy that they put a none original glass in a new car

My rear window shattered after prolonged use of the rear defroster. It was raining in California very heavily in January 2024. I had been using my rear defroster for a long period of time. On [XXX], I got into my car and as soon as I closed the door the windshield shattered and sprayed glass on the inside of my car and all over my driveway. I went out to my parked 2023 Honda HRV Sport and saw a hole in the rear hatch glass. It completely shattered when I touched the corner. My local Honda dealer said they've never heard of this issue and never received any service bulletins about this issue which I found online and read to them. Honda customer service said there is an open recall and to take it to the dealer and it should be covered under the warranty.

Woke up in the morning and discovered that my rear windshield had randomly shattered at some point during the night while it was parked. At first thought it was vandalism, but there was no specific point of impact anywhere on my windshield and it was not indented at all. If I was driving my vehicle when this occurred, it absolutely could've resulted in sudden shock and caused an accident. There was nothing wrong with my windshield in the days leading up to this.

While parked about to drive out to work @ about 18:30, I turned on my car and my rear windshield spontaneously shattered. My wiper is still intact, but my entire windshield has spider web-like cracking all over, leaving a hole on my left side, slightly big. Please see photos attached. While driving, I heard a loud pop, and the rear windshield shattered completely. I had the rear defroster on. There was no sign of an object that hit the windshield, it just blew out unexpectedly. I took photos and called the insurance company, but nobody else has inspected the windshield except for me. This posed a safety risk, as I was startled and could not see out the back window. I was not able to pull over due to the lack of a safe area to pull over. There were no warnings of this event, this was the first and only incident. I did some research on this issue, and it appears that I am not the only one who has had the rear windshield shatter in my 2023 Honda HRV, due to a manufacturing defect in the seal around the rear defroster system.

I was driving on 2/17/2024 with the rear defrost on and my rear window shattered. It was snowin This was very scary to me. no warning light dealer is closed today. I called Honda they are closed also. I have a car seat in the back had my kids been in the car this could have been hurt since the glass in all over the hatch inside the hrv.

[XXX] about [XXX] Mountain time, my wife was driving the vehicle back to Pueblo, Colorado from Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was a freezing drizzle and to help deal with visibility she turned on the defroster for the rear hatch window. About 15 minutes afterwards she heard a massive "boom" and looking in the rear view mirror it looked like that rear hatch window was completely cracked across the whole window. Although the situation was frightening, she was able to get home. Looking online it was clear that this situation has already been experienced by a large number of people. We reported the problem to Honda who opened a case, and directed us to a local dealer. The local dealer was rude, said that some object must have impacted the glass. We are trying to take the vehicle to a different dealer tomorrow. When I looked at the glass, there was a large section missing in the center, and there were numerous "shards" broken off along the perimeter of the glass that were independent of the large hole in the middle. I was driving about 35 mph, in morning on 10/3/23. Suddenly the rear windshield shattered accompanied by a very loud noise at the rear or hood of car. At first I thought someone threw a rock, or fired a gun, on my car. Pulled car over to inspect. I was very shaken. The road had a few pine trees adjacent, I thought perhaps a large heavy pine cone could have fallen on the back windshield, but had no evidence of that happening specifically. I have read subsequently about this happening with other 2023 HR-Vs. I don’t know if I turned on the defroster that morning or not. It is possible, because it was a chilly morning. I reported it to my insurance, they covered the entire rear windshield replacement cost.

The car was parked in the garage and the back windshield exploded for no reason. The garage is insulated and was around 60 degrees. No impact had occurred and no prior damage. The car is only a year old. There are other reports of similar incidents with the back window. No warning just exploded out of no where. I am having to replace it out of pocket.

Rear window glass broke out of nothing without any collision or otherwise impact. I parked the car in a covered, safe garage and then the other day the rear window glass was completely shattered and broken.

The HRV was placed in a closed garage on 1/26/2024. The next morning, I discovered the back windshield had shattered. It looked at if it exploded from the inside. The hole left had glass on the outside curved outward.

The rear window shattered while the vehicle was stopped at a red light. We contacted our local Honda dealer and were told they know nothing of the problem. But we have found dozens of articles describing our same incident and that Honda has acknowledged an issue. We had no choice but to use our insurance to get the window replaced as we are in a very cold and wet climate in the Pacific Northwest. I also took the vehicle in for the safety recall, but according to the NHTSA, it's still outstanding. I took it in on 1/16/24.

I was preparing to go to work and started the vehicle. It was a cold morning and almost immediately after pressing the start button the back glass exploded into my driveway and into the cargo area of the vehicle.

On June 10, 2023 the rear windshield of my 2023 HRV exploded while i was driving on a highway. There were no vehicles around me. I contacted the dealership they said something must had hit my car and it was not covered.

While my car was in park and I was sitting in it with my daughter, I heard a loud bang. When I turned to look, the back window had completely shattered.

I was backing out of my driveway and heard a really loud popping noise behind me. Looked in my rearview mirror and my back window was completely shattered.

On Dec 30th I was sitting in my car l, engine running, wipers and defroster on. I hear a loud pop and my rear windshield shattered There was a large hole in the upper left and the glass all around the edges shattered. The rear wiper remained on even though I turned it off

Rear window of the vehicle shattered for no reason. It was about 25 degrees outside and the rear defroster was on for the entire drive of about 1 and 1/2 hours. The window just popped and shattered. I called Honda dealership and take no blame for incident. They said there were no recalls for that. Seen on different forums on line that other people had this issue with the defroster getting too hot.

My car was parked in a parking lot this morning and I got into my car, shut my driver door, and my back rear window shattered - now I am stuck replacing this when it was of no fault of my own. I see there have been over 300 complaints about Honda HR-V owners' rear windows shattering. Can something please be done about this, or can this be refunded due to having to pay out of pocket for something that is defective on this make/model of Honda vehicle?

2023 Honda HRV Sport with 4750 miles on it. Started car today the 17th of January and was sitting in the car and the rear glass blew out. I haven’t even had the opportunity to drive it anywhere and purchased it.

On 1/16/2024 I opened my drivers side door, got into the car, shut the door then heard a load explosive sound, looked in my rearview mirror and saw the back glass shatter and a huge hole in the center thereof. Nothing hit the window it just exploded when I shut my drivers side from door.

Was driving from one restaurant to another tea shop after dinner around 7:30 PM. After parking in the lot, we heard a minor crack sound but did not thought of something major. However, after getting the tea and trying to place it in the trunk, we realized that there was a hole on the rear windshield, with edges all broken up. Thought of it as an unsuccessful break-in, but there was other cars in the parking lot without this kind of shattering, which doesn’t make sense that it was a intended intrusion. Honda definitely needs to recall this issue and have the rear window replaced!

On [XXX] I was driving on the [XXX] to San Diego when I heard a loud boom and then my rear window on the drivers side had a hole in it. It was raining and I was using the rear window defroster. I immediately turned around and drove back home and took my car to the Honda dealership. When they opened the rear door and shut it a large portion of the glass fell out along with some plastic parts of the window panel. They said nothing could be done until after the Holiday. After the holiday they talked to Honda and Honda agreed to replace the window. The window part is on back order and was expected to be shipped on Jan 12; however, as of today it is still not shipped and listed as back ordered. They did not have a loaner car available for me so I was forced to rent a vehicle twice during this time until one became available on Jan 16. I told the Honda dealer that this has been happening and there is a class action lawsuit in Pennsylvania and they told me they were totally unaware of this problem existing in Honda vehicles. They were surprised when Honda agreed to pay for it. Honda needs to issue a recall and make sure that all the owners and dealerships are aware of this problem. While at the gym one evening on 1/3, I came back to my car and noticed a shattered rear windshield. Initially my thoughts were 'did my car get broken into?' however, nothing was missing and my gym is located in a fairly safe part of town. Also, this occurred early evening, one of the busiest times at the gym and an unlikely time for a break in. I notified the police, my insurance company, and the gym. The police reviewed footage of the parking lot and didn't see anything that suggested a break it. Shortly thereafter, I became aware of many HRV owners experiencing 'spontaneous' shattering of the rear windshield. The situation was beginning to make more sense. I believe that I am a victim of this defect.

The rear windshield exploded and shattered into pieces when I turned on rear defroster. No warning, no impact or other vehicles involved. This is a safety issue, I have my 3 year old son at the backseat, and the pieces of shattered glass flew pretty far out, and luckily I wasn't driving fast in the highway. I took my car to the dealer and they are ordering part to fix my rear windshield and my rear wiper.

I was driving on an open road at aporox 8pm no wind rain or snow and my REAR WINDOW spontaneously combusted. Nothing hit the window and there was no apparent object thrown through the window. The temp outside was approx 32 degrees and the rear defogger was engaged

Shortly after parking, the vehicle in the garage there was a loud bang sounding like a gun shot. When I walked behind my car I saw that my rear hatch window exploded out. I have not contacted the dealer yet but will first thing tomorrow morning.

I parked my car in the apartment complex overnight and the next morning I walked out to a shattered back windshield. I thought someone broke into my car; called the police, and insurance. Nothing was verified stolen after I did some glass cleanup. I didn't realize it was a common issue until I found an article.

On [XXX] my wife left the house in her 2023 HRV traveling less than one mile when her back glass made a loud pop and shattered. The loud pop startled the wife. We have to travel 40 miles to the dealership for inspection. Not a fun trip for a couple of seniors in mid January. Around 5:15pm on a rainy and i must have not been going no faster than 60 miles per hour and it was already dark and then all of a sudden you hear an explosion sound noise from the back of the car. I originally thought it was bullet of a sort. I couldn’t believe the window was broken. How, I asked myself did the window have a hole. How did the glass break. How did this happen. I wanted requested footage from CHP to see if something shot at us. But now I see Honda made a default car. So sad because I love Honda and I feel betrayed by them. Rear window shattered, while defrosting was on 5:20am

I got into my HRV And closed my driver side door as normal. The back window shattered I was not parked under a tree or anything that could have fallen on the back windshield. I was sitting in the driver seat when it happened. The glass came into the car. I called my dealer, and they said they had not heard of a problem. However, after investigating myself, I found this to be happening to several people owning Honda Anda HRV.

Purchased HRV new and at approximately 3900 miles all warning system lights starting flashing while I was driving. Took car home and checked oil and there was NONE at all. Put oil in and took to dealership who found the Honda manufacturer had not installed the oil filter properly and the car had sprayed oil across the undercarriage of the car while I was on the interstate. If the car had locked up while driving 70 mph due to no oil, my father, brother, and I would have been killed and may have injured/killed someone else. Since getting oil filter installed correctly and oil in the car, the Collision and lane departure warnings continue to display periodically at the initial starting of the car saying the those systems have issues and to see the dealership. I have taken car to the dealership 3 times and once they connected it to a diagnostic machine which said "I had a code" and those codes were supposedly corrected, but the same warnings remain. It is not reproduceable and I have not been able to capture a pic of the occurrance. I believe running out of oil has damaged the warning systems and needs to be replaced or Honda should provide me a new car for my current car (10,700 miles).

Closed my front passenger side door and the rear hatchback glass completely shattered. Hundreds of pieces of shattered glass were now inside the rear lift gate section of my vehicle. The glass shattered around the edges and in the center. Some remained around the edges but continued to fall out at the slightest movement, such as when I got in the vehicle and closed my door to call the dealership. Contacted my dealership who said there were no recalls on my vehicle and they stated they had not heard of this, though I've seen many similar complaints here. Dealership suggested I place a claim through my insurance company. It hardly seems fair to me that my insurance should foot the bill for an obvious manufacturing defect on Honda's part.

I drove approximately three miles with my rear window defogger on. I parked in the garage (always parked in garage). The next morning I came out to a shattered rear window! Not using the defogger is not an option in Western New York. I am concerned of the safety aspect, if this happens while driving. Rear window seems very thin. I have pictures of the window. I had no warning or sounds previously. Vehicle only has 6800 miles on it. I'm currently waiting for a replacement window.

The rear window spontaneously shattered today. It was a cold morning approximately 35 degrees. Car was auto-started to warm it up. After driving the care for approximately 1/2 mile and while stopped at a stop light, the rear glass spontaneously shattered.

I was parked outside of a restaurant and the back door windshield exploded. Luckily I was parked in front of a security camera. The police were called and determined that nothing external affected the vehicle, nobody was near the vehicle, and nothing hit the windshield. The police did inspect the vehicle itself and the surrounding area, and watched the camera footage to make this determination. This resulted in me having to drive home on the highways as my windshield continued to fall apart (I was unable to collect all of the pieces before driving home). It was extremely dangerous to drive knowing the rest of the exploded windshield was cracking and pieces were entering my trunk. If this happened while I was driving or when someone was near the car, this could have caused serious injury. There are many claims of brand new 2023 Honda HRVs having this issue. I have located multiple complaints online. I called the dealership and they stated they were aware of this; however because there was no settled class action lawsuit they would not assist with investigation or repairs. I had the car repaired at another mechanic and all was well. A week ago, without warning, the trunk completely stopped opening and I am now unable to use the lift gate to open the truck. I did obtain a police report and I have a photo that I can upload but this website will not let me.

Rear windshield exploded while the vehicle was parked in the garage. The glass formed a dome outwards in the center of the windshield approximately 1.5 inches.

I was driving my car and suddenly my rear windshield shattered. I thought somebody throw something but no one was around my car and I could not find any object in car. Then I checked online about this issue and HRV forum has multiple incidents reported similar to this one. This is manufactured issue and low quality product issue. I am very disappointed with Honda. Their service was below par and now I came to know about recall for seatbelts issue. We don’t get call from dealer and not recieved any communication letter.

I was driving to work at 6:52am when my rear windshield spontaneously shattered. There was no proof of impact or anything when I inspected the windshield. I did not have my rear defroster on nor did I rinse my car with hot water prior to driving. The vehicle was parked in my carport, and when I opened the door to get inside, the rear window (rear windshield) shattered. There was no foreign object, it wasn't hit by anything, it just shattered.

I was driving at night and no one was near me and my back windshield shattered. It made a huge pop sound, I checked my warnings for anything like my tires but nothing was showing up. Nothing hit it. I did have my defrost on but I don’t know if that plays a part.

During a short drip in August 2023 was the first time I noticed the steering "freezing" on the highway and jolting when I tried to control it. I had to use considerable force to hold and direct the steering throughout the trip and back. Still, on the trip, it sometimes felt as if the vehicle was floating and the steering had no grip. It was such a risky and exhausting trip for me because of this problem. On November 30th, 2023, I was on the highway again and experienced it. The steering felt stiff and at times, the front wheels felt like they were being magnetically pulled away in a different direction. I felt so unsafe with other fast-moving vehicles on every side as I struggled to keep the steering aligned. I had to use a good amount of force to grip and direct the steering and found myself praying for safety as I drove. It was certainly hazardous as it could endanger my life and those of others. I called the dealership to lay a complaint. They asked me to bring the car over to them, but I am in a different location and frightened to drive the car for hours to them and then more hours from there back to my base. I asked if I could take it to a nearby dealership but was told I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for diagnostics. If they could direct me to a nearby dealership to run diagnostics for free, I would be willing to do that. There have not been warning signs indicated by the vehicle so far. I got this car in March and it has less than 3000 miles on it. I don't know what to do. I feel as if I've made a mistake purchasing it.

No impact to glass or reasoning, I filed an incident report with police out of concern, they had never seen anything like it but stated it was not due to any object impact. This happened right on Christmas weekend, leaving me without a safe car to drive which ruined some of plans and dealership was unable to assist but associate did mention she’s seen another customer with same issue and there are many similar instances online. I could’ve been driving or had my boy in the backseat when this happened. There seems to be some issue with the pressure points and placement of the window, frightening this can happen again. On 12/21/23, I went out to my secure garage to my 2023 Honda HRV and found that the back window had completely shattered. After further investigation, I did not find any obvious external reason for this incident. I had driven the car on 12/20/23, which was a rainy day and may have activated the rear wiper and/or rear defogger. But to my knowledge, there was no impact of any kind to the window. The component that failed was the rear window. No one was hurt; however, this could've been a safety issue if it happened on the road. There was no warning prior to the incident. The vehicle was purchased on 11/26/22 and was last serviced on 10/30/23, where no problems were noted. I called Honda, thinking this may be a product defect. I had gently shut my car door and the back windshield exploded. Glass went everywhere, and if someone was in my back seat or standing behind my car, they would’ve been cut. My car was not even on. Very very disappointing on Hondas part as I know 2 other people who have the same car and have had the same problem happen.

The rear window just shattered while my car was parked. I had went to go get groceries and loaded it into my car. Then bam the window just shattered.. this wasnt like someone hit the window or an object. The window shattered without anything leading it to shatter.

The back rear windshield glass exploded and shattered into small pieces. Remote started the car before making my way to drive it. As I started to drive, in few minutes I heard a pop sound and when checked rear view mirror; the rear windshield was shattered into pieces. There was no impact, no object hitting. Luckily I was the only occupant in the car and no injury resulted. Car taken to the dealer.

My back glass windshield was shattered and broken and it broke like an explosion, when I opened the trunk. I have seen many 2023 honda hrv owners reporting the same.

The component that failed was the hatchback window. It completely shattered and it is not available for inspection unless you want to look at it before December 13. I am now without a car and this was the first available date to get it fixed. I was not at risk because I was outside of the car and had just closed the door. I could imagine if you were a passenger in the back seat you could have been hit with exploding glass. When I called the dealer they said they could do nothing for me and that I would have to get the glass replaced by a glass dealer. They said this is something that sometimes happens with the cold weather. It was not that cold. It was 25 degrees in upstate NY. I have never heard of this happening with any car and I believe they have been prompted to say this is a normal thing. I have looked online and there have been other complaints about Honda HRV 2023 back windows exploding. There was absolutely no warning.

Came out in the morning to the rear windshield shattered. No impact or anything of the like, just randomly shattered overnight while in my garage.

I was unloading my groceries and over my head. My windshield from the back of the hatchback closure exploded over my head, and then I had to pay a 500 deductible because Honda said that there was no recall for an overheating back windshield so I had to pay out-of-pocket for it, and they literally had a hole and it exploded over my head and they said they couldn’t do a recall.

Upon entering my parked vehicle today 11/30/23, I got in and closed the driver side door of my 2023 Honda Hrv. Immediately I heard a crash and looked behind me to see that my rear windshield had shattered and the middle part was caved in with glad all in the trunk. I got out, inspected the area and there was nothing to indicate why the windshield spontaneously combusted like this. I took it to the dealer I bought it from and no one had seen or heard of this before. Upon searching online, I found several websites where other people have reported the same thing happening, either when the car is parked or while driving. The dealership is currently trying to figure out how to handle this.

While I was driving the rear window suddenly shattered creating a loud thud. Chunks of shattering glass fell into the back section of the car. No foreign object hit the car. This was just a spontaneous event. We often transport our grand children and it is possible that they could have been seriously injured if they would have been in the car at the time. The car is unsafe to drive at this time due to shards of glass still loose. I plan to contact the local Honda dealership and will request a representative to come inspect the damage. Our HRV is still under warranty.

My 2023 Honda HRV rear windshield exploded unexpectedly without a cause. I warmed up the car on a 40 degree morning before driving and less than a mile down the road, the rear window exploded in a wide open area while driving 25 mph. THANKFULY MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE BACK SEAT!

While I was driving and while using the rear window defroster the rear window suddenly shattered. The shatter made a whole on the middle/upper left side (facing forward). This needs to be recalled as it is a hazard while driving and there shouldn’t be rear windows easily shattering by using the defroster once. This was my first time using the defroster since I just bought the car.

Driving to work my rear window suddenly shattered. I thought something had gone through the glass but nothing was discovered in the boot. I called police, to make sure . They confirmed that likely it was a defective window. I had run the rear defroster for about 10 minutes prior to the shatter. Thankfully, it was not raining and no one was hurt. The rear window glass continued breaking off crackling and falling — as I drove, but the original hole was on the drivers side about half way up the window. I went to Honda and they had no rear windows for 2023 HRV’s available, and said they have never seen or heard of any rear window defects. I am having an off market rear window installed tomorrow at a glass repair place. Later, I found an HRV on line forum where many people have had the same exact same thing happen. The forum suggested reporting the incident here.

The rear windshield exploded spontaneously after the car was put into park. The whole thing was completely shattered and slowly collapsed in on itself. There was no damage to it, nothing hit it - it just exploded. This luckily happened after the car was in motion or otherwise serious injury or other damage may have occurred. Apparently the window system also connects to airbag system and could have caused further issues had that been triggered. The dealership, even though the car was under warranty, told me they would not replace the windshield at their cost. I plead for them to ask Honda to cover it - I was only in possession of the car for 15months, brand new! The dealership sent photos to Honda and Honda did determine they would fix the window; however, there are lawsuits being established as this is a recurring issue and Honda should be liable for putting out cars in such condition. My concern now is that this will happen again and could cause additional damage to the vehicle, others around, or anyone inside.

- On 9/27/23 the rear windshield of my 2023 Honda HRV spontaneously shattered. This is a known issue with the vehicle. - I was driving down the freeway when my windshield spontaneously shattered. It was incredibly alarming and dangerous. Thank goodness there were no passengers in the backseat, because they would be covered in shards of glass. -The problem has been reported to the dealership and Honda is aware that this is an issue with this model car.

On July 22, 2023, I was pulling out of a parking spot when the back window/windshield exploded without cause. There were no objects nearby or any other cause for the problem. The only other possible cause would've been the pneumatics failing to protect the glass or the rear defrost heating the glass until it exploded. I took the car to the dealership (Coggin Honda Orlando, 11051 S Orange Blossom Trl, Orlando, FL 32837) and they refused to fix it under the warranty of the vehicle, which at the time was just over 10K miles and less than 6 months of ownership. A quick google search shows at least dozens of reports of the same issue happening to other owners. This is very dangerous because it can injure a backseat passenger. I was forced to pay for the repair with my Insurance for something that Honda should acknowledge as a problem and provide a recall.

Used my defroster in my car to defrost the front in back windows. Back window completely shattered. Not only did it put myself at risk, it also put others in the road at risk. This could have caused me to be distracted and have an accident or glass could have flown at someone else’s car. There were no warnings that the glass would randomly shatter. I contacted my dealer about this but have not received a response.

On 10/27/23, while parked in a residential driveway, the back window to my 2023 Honda HRV Sport spontaneously shattered. The temp at the time was around 65 degrees and it was approximately 6:45 AM. I did have my defroster on that morning, however, it the rear defroster was off by the time I was parked in the driveway.

On October 19 I was on my way to work and noticed my back window was shattered. I wasn’t sure if it was intentional so I called the police. The officer arrived and looked at the vehicle he observed and found no signs of a break in or that the window had been intentionally bashed in. I called my insurance and they they sent someone to replace the window since I did have glass coverage. I looked on Google to see if there were any faulty issues with the windows and it pulled up several other Honda HRV 2023 models were having the same problem. I immediately contacted the dealer and sent them an email and called but no response

My daughter and I were driving down a highway when we felt and heard a very loud boom followed by the sound of my rear glass falling into the back of my car. We drove to a safe location and notified the police of what happened as we were unsure if something or someone had done something to my car. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office did come out and take a report. We didn’t find any damage to the body of my car only the shattered back window with zero evidence of any object causing this. I have turned it into my insurance and I am waiting for my back window to be replaced.

There were NO warnings before the vehicle malfunctioned. - Honda accepted responsibility for the faulty rear windshield and repaired it for free on 10/10/23. - Honda did NOT provide me with a loaner vehicle and they are refusing to reimburse me for my travel/Uber expenses during the time my car was damages/inoperable. My expenses amount to around $263.00. Can someone please help me get reimbursed since the vehicle defect was not my fault and confirmed by Honda?

I have a 2023 honda hrv sport and last night October 20th my rear window just shattered while I was driving. The temp outside was 50 and it was rainy. I was using my rear defroster and I heard a pop sound and the next I knew the glass shattered.

Back window of car shattered while driving. No impact from foreign objects. There was no warning- glass will be replaced by safelite in which they explained they had 6 cars with the same issue. As I googled the situation, it seems as if this has been an ongoing problem with Honda and some of the Acura models.

Rear windshield shattered while stationary upon activating the rear defroster for less than 5 minutes. The initial hole was in the upper left side of the rear window.

On 10/9/2023 my back windshield exploded without any type of impact whatsoever. I was driving down a road headed to work driving about 40 mph and without any warning or impact I heard a loud exploding noise and then the entire back glass shattered into thousands of pieces. No back windshield wiper or no back defogger was being used at the time either. This happened without any type of warning or any type of incident at all. The noise this made would be enough to startle a driver and cause an accident not to mention the shattered glass that was everywhere. I have contacted the dealer where I purchased the car new and at first was told by the head of their service department that they had never heard of anything like this and that my insurance should cover it. After calling back a second time their receptionist acknowledged that yes they were aware of the problem and two other people had brought their HRVs in with the same thing happening to them. She said their sales manager would be giving me a call back. At this time I have not heard back. I have taken numerous photos of the damage and my insurance company has agreed to make the repairs even though this damage is clearly a defect in this Honda product. Back windshield shattered out of nowhere. I have not even had this car for a year. I called police and have a report that there was NO impact, no crack or rock. It exploded on its own. MY ONE YEAR OLD WAS IN HIS CARSEAT FACING THE WINDOW. I am paranoid and scared of going into a car. He won’t sit in his car seat. There was NO warning and Honda has my car for a month and NOTHING has been done. I am a single mother with NO car. They won’t give me a loaner. They are doing an investigation without answers or helping me.

Today is October 1, 2023 I was driving home from church going about 35mph and we heard a loud bang. I thought someone hit the car, but they didn’t. I looked in the rear view mirror and the windshield shattered. My [XXX] mother and [XXX] Aunt (sitting in the back) were terrified and shocked. I was scared and shocked too. When I puked the car over to see what happened there was a hold on the glass and the entire windshield shattered. This is insane and extremely dangerous for anyone to experience. I left work at about 430 p.m. and at just that time, it started to rain and then some torrential rain. Because of the heavy rain, I did use my rear defroster, the rear wiper, front wiper and front defroster. My drive as far as distance is about 18 miles, but because of the weather, traffic was slow. Then the rain stopped so I did not need to use the rear wiper. About 1-1/2 miles from my exit I heard a pop, pulled over to the shoulder of the road and saw that the back window on the left side had a hole and the rest of the glass was shattered. As time went by, as I was slowly driving home (the rest of the drive is about 5 miles), more and more of the glass was falling in. Now most of the glass is missing.

On September 6, 2023 at approximately 7:00AM was standing beside my vehicle pumping gas when I heard a loud noise. My daughter, who was in the car, turned around to look at me and asked me if my car was OK. Then she told me to look at my rear window. When I looked at the window it had "exploded". There was a large hole in the left, center area of the window with the rest of the window shattered, but intact. The car was off, it was on the cooler side with temperatures in the upper 50s' to low 60's. The rear defroster had been on previously on the drive, but the car was off at the time of the incident.

About 10 minutes after turning on the rear defroster the back window spontaneously shattered.

I was driving down the highway on 9/21/23. I had my rear defrost on and it was about 50 degrees outside. My back windshield had no cracks in it. Nothing hit the back windshield. I suddenly heard a loud popping noise and my entire back windshield shattered. There was glass falling into my trunk. Luckily my infant daughter was not in the car in her rear facing carseat. Honda would not replace the rear windshield under the manufacturers warranty. My insurance covered the replacement of the windshield.

I used the rear defroster while driving, and the rear windshield glass just completely shattered when I parked. Nothing hit it. There was light rain.

As I was driving at 645 in the morning, my rear glass shattered from the inside. There was no accident and nothing hit my car.

I used Rear fog when I was driving and then parked the car in my garage. Later in the evening when I went to take my car I saw that the rear windshield is broken.

I was driving this morning and my back glass just shattered this morning shortly after I turned on the rear wipers due to it raining.

2023 Honda HRV, rear window shattered over night completely ruining the window, reports online of owners having the same problem. Only thing I can think of is I had defrosted the windows the night of the incident on my way home, came out in the morning to see the rear window completely shattered with no evidence of a person or object causing damage. Repairs estimated at roughly $800. Called and reported the incident to multiple Honda dealerships in Massachusetts.

I parked my car around 1pm at work as I do every day. Large busy parking lot in a Publix shopping plaza, very safe, lots of people coming and going from retail shops, restaurants, etc. Approx 4pm realized I left one of my office keys in my console. Opened driver door and leaned in to grab key, out of the corner of my eye I saw the back windshield & thought it looked dirty & weird. Did a double take & it looked like ice when it breaks & starts to melt. I walked around to the back and saw a hole in my back windshield & the entire thing was shattered in little pieces. I thought someone punched a hole in it. Then I walked back around to shut my driver door and when I did, all the shattered glass fell into the back. The perimeter of the windshield was still attached but the glass pieces were pushed outward like there had been an explosion inside my car. Google search showed this is happening with 2023 HR-Vs all over the country. I took photos (VERY IMPORTANT - take pix right away. ALSO IMPORTANT - don't touch the glass or fix it until Honda inspects it). I had to work & couldn't deal with it until a few days later, so I taped a trash bag over the windshield as best I could without touching the rest of the glass. It continued to break apart as I drove, but the sides stayed attached. Called my Honda dealer 3 days later. Spoke to a sales manager. He said to text him the photos, I also sent screenshots of google search results & NHTSA complaints. He called back & said to bring it in to service department. They inspected it when I pulled in. Within 20 mins they had called corporate, ordered the parts, & said they would repair on site within a week. Meanwhile they had pulled a rental car around for me. I signed a quick paper & was out the door. Zero cost to me. They were wonderful. Be polite, be patient, be truthful, and you will most often get the help you need from any business. I am a Honda customer for life!!!

Was driving my 2023 Honda HRV to work going 35 mph (the posted speed limit) when I heard a loud bang and my back windshield basically exploded. Glass everywhere in my trunk.

I used my rear defroster this morning for about 10 minutes on my way to work. A few hours later I went to get in my car and when I closed the door, the rear window exploded. It was about 70 degrees, clear and sunny. The car was just sitting in a parking lot. Security footage was reviewed and no one even walked past it while it was parked.

Rear window shattered while my vehicle was parked at work between 5am and 2pm. It was lightly raining throughout the day, temperature was low to mid 60's. I used defrost at about 4:45 am prior to driving to work. Don't recall if I used defrost when leaving work at 2pm, but as I pulled from my parking spot I heard a noise that seemed like something was falling into the back of my truck, when I stopped to look I saw a big hole in my rear window.

My Honda HR-V was sitting in the parking lot when the back window just exploded by its own. There was no impact, no object hitting at all. Went to the dealer and they couldn’t do nothing. Call the Honda service and they told me to call the insurance. I bought this car less than a year I’m really disappointed with Honda assistance.

I was driving into my driveway and parked and before I exited the car the rear tailgate window exploded. It was so loud that my neighbor ran out of his house because he heard the noise. Several others have reported this happening to them on the internet. There should be a recall.

While driving last night, I heard a loud bang and then what sounded like ice melting. Nothing hit the car just the loud sound. I noticed I couldn't see out the back window so when I got out, I ran to the back of the car. The entire back window had shattered. I hit absolutely nothing, no rock or debris hit it, nothing at all. I had the rear and front defrost on for about 5 minutes before turning off the rear and keeping just the front on. It was nighttime, drizzling, and about 67 degrees. I called the dealership that I leased it from first thing this morning and the two people I spoke to were flabbergasted. I let them know to Google as it appears to have been happening and continue to happen to this exact year and make of this car. I'm waiting to hear back on how to move forward but no repairs or anything have been done. I filed an insurance claim and am also waiting to hear back for that.

My vehicle was parked when the rear windshield shattered. Nothing came into contact. Dealerships are refusing to help out and they are aware of the issue. Please help us get this covered under a recall.

My rear windshield shattered out of nowhere. Not driving, car wasn’t turned on yet, temperature outside was about 60 degrees so wasn’t too cold or too hot. No impact.

Back windshield randomly exploded, nothing was thrown at the vehicle, car was parked and not running when the incident happened. Glass appears to be blown out from the inside.

The back windshield of my 2023 Honda HRV popped and shattered out of nowhere.

I was sitting at a red light and my rear windshield exploded out of nowhere, nothing hitting it. I now see there are over 50 complaints of the same thing happening to HRVs. We've had the car less than a year. This is so, so dangerous, specifically because kids sit in the back seat. I really hope Honda does an investigation / recall. This is so scary and dangerous. Imagine if the front windshield shattered instead on someone driving... My dealer won't cover the cost, even though we are in warranty, and denies it is a problem with the glass when it clearly is. I am talking to the national Honda people now.

Unknown, was driving to work and the rear window exploded. Nothing hit it, the defogger was on when I left the house to work. Weather probably was in the low 70s at max. Road was St route 13, a paved well-kept road.

While we were driving home from the beach on a very calm sunny day we kept smelling this weird smell in the car. While stopped at a red light we heard a loud pop and the rear window just exploded.

07/24/2023 @ 5:35AM, I arrived at work and parked my car in front of the building. A co-worker came to my desk at 11:45am and asked me what happened to my car. The rear windshield had shattered and there was a hole in the left side of the window. I called Walnut Creek Honda and was informed that they would have to order the glass and could not confirm the ETA for that to arrive. It would not be covered via warranty or under the additional roadside advantage policy that I purchased. They said they would call me back with the ETA - they did not return my call. In the meantime I called my insurance company and they referred me to All State Glass for an onsite repair. They confirmed on 07/25/2023 the Honda glass had arrived and repaired the window. When the technician was installing the new glass he was shocked by the rear window defroster wire and advised that he could leave it disconnected until I could have the car inspected by the dealer. I took the car to Walnut Creek Honda on 8/8/2023 and charged for the diagnostics that indicated there was not a malfunction of that part. There is some discussion on the Web that multiple have had this problem with their 2023 Honda HRV's but Honda does not have a recall for this problem. I called them on 7/28/2023 and opened a case (#14400775). There is a concern that this can happen to my vehicle again and it does not make me feel very safe.

While sitting at a stoplight, with no cars near me, I heard a shatter sound. My rear window glass has shattered for an unknown reason. I verified nothing had hit it. It was lightly raining, and I previously had the rear window defogger on.

I was parked in my car while talking to my friend and suddenly a loud smashing noise came from behind me. Then I heard a crackling sound and got out to look and my rear windshield had shattered. There was nothing around that made contact or caused it. The rear defrosters were on at the time of the incident.

I was driving my vehicle onto a off highway ramp with a speed of approximately 30 - 35 miles per hour, when we heard a loud pop sound. I immediately looked in the rear view mirror and there was an ~ 18" hole in the window. I pulled into a safe zone and looked at the rear hatchback window and it was shattered with the large hole. No reason, was not using wipers or defroster. Temperature was in the mid 70's. Luckily we were both in the front seats and no glass reached us.

My rear glass shattered today unexpectedly with only 4,400 miles. Obviously others have same issue and defective glass or window frame. I’m getting fixed and Maroone Honda where I bought blew me off. Rear window on the trunk randomly shattered and cracked. My husband was driving home from work and heard a loud POP and the glass cracked. The smallest movements of the car is making it crack more. Can’t get in touch with Honda because it is a Sunday. A headache!

While driving I put my rear defroster on and minutes later there was a loud pop noise and my entire rear window was shattered. I have an appt on Friday July 21, 2023 for the dealer to inspect it. Not having clear visibility while driving last night was a safety hazard. There was no warning at all.

On July 7, 2023, I was heading home from work during a downpour. Because of the rain and heat I had to turn on the defroster for both the front and rear windows. After about 10 minutes of driving, I suddenly heard a loud noise. Glancing in my rearview mirror, I was taken aback to discover a sizable hole in the passenger-side rear window. The forceful rain, accompanied by the windshield wipers' motion, caused the hole to expand further. I did pull over to see if maybe a tree limb had fall as I was driving. There was nothing in the truck.

Yesterday my rear windshield was shuttered spontaneously at 10:00 pm on the drive thru of burger restaurant. Cameras shows no vandalism or 3rd party was involved. The rear windshield shuttered with whole on the right up side suddenly after I had my defrost on to clear the rear windshield. Irresponsible Honda America agent over the phone hanged up on me and the dealership was laughing loud without any sympathy that me and my son were inside the car and we were terrifies

The rear window shattered after having the rear defrost on. I was driving down an empty street, so nothing could have hit it the window. Law enforcement even checked it out and we were all just as confused as to why it would just shatter.

The rear window of our 2023 Honda HRV exploded with no incident whatsoever. We had parked the car on Sunday, July 2, 2023 and taken walk on beach at 7:30 in the morning. When we left at 8:15 we heard a noise from the back as we drove off and looked in rear view mirror to see that the back glass was shattering. Continued to shatter as we made our way back home - 1-1/2 miles. This is a Sunday and will consult with dealership on Monday.

While driver 47 mph to work this morning my rear windshield suddenly popped and shattered. I was not under on over hangs or buildings. There were no others cars even around me at the time. I did have the rear defrost on. The whole windshield broke and fell apart.

Exploding trunk glass windshield June 2, 2023. I had the rear window windshield or glass (at the trunk or above the license plate) of my 2023 Honda HRV EX-L shattering and exploding yesterday while parked. There was no impact or an object hitting it. It just exploded. I strongly believe it’s a manufacturing defect which needs a recall or warranty coverage. I believe an inferior glass was used. I had this car for a few months and less than a year. I called the collision center and they said they’ve had many incidents like that with that model. I’m really disappointed and considering many options right now. When I called Honda America, they were trying to bail out. But it’s obvious that an inferior glass was used. Now, I don’t know when the next glass is going to explode. And, I don’t know when there’ll be another defect. This needs a recall and must be covered by warranty or a buy back option. I lost my income for that day. I was lucky I didn’t have anyone sitting at the backseat. There could’ve been physical injuries. Driving the car puts some fear in me psychologically because I don’t when another glass will explode. And the dealership is also trying to bail out when this was bought brand new. It’s frustrating. I’m gathering more information on how to proceed but I’d appreciate your input.

Several times a gas smell has come through the vents of this car. It happens generally after running for at least 1hr and 30 min. The last time it occurred, we drove for 30 min, let it idle for around 30 min, and then drove another 30 min back home. The smell came through the vents around 10 min away from home on a back road with no one around. The smell lasted around 5 minutes. I took this to two Honda dealerships and they could not find a problem. There are several lawsuits against Honda for this exact thing, but in the CRV models. It is a hazard for there to be gas blowing through the vents. This indicates a possible leak, and it can cause harmful side effects due the fumes. There are more electrical issues occurring. I have caught on camera, but the Honda dealership will not even watch them. The windows will get stuck down and will not go back for around 3-5 minutes. When trying to roll them up they will continuously click like it is trying, but can not go up.

Vehicle was off and parked in a parking lot from 7:30AM-3:30PM on a partly sunny, calm, 50 degree day with the rear window facing southeast and parked a safe distance from the front bumper of the vehicle behind it. Upon return to the vehicle, the rear window had shattered into smithereens with a softball sized hole in the top left quadrant. After opening and closing the front passenger door, the entire rear window collapsed. There was no evidence of a strike from a person or a thing among the ruble.

The screen on the car would randomly turn on and off when the vehicle is on and it will do this the whole time . On Dec 2022 Another issue I had was the door wouldn’t unlock on the driver side. I had to get someone to open my door. The door was unlocked but physically wouldn’t open.
