Radio/infotainment touchscreen often freezes up and has phantom inputs, which can exit navigation and change the audio source. This causes huge distraction to the driver. The frustrating thing about this is that it's an intermittent issue, so the service center can't replicate it when I bring it in. This has been an ongoing issue with many 3rd generation Insights, and I was told by the service center that Honda has an internal investigation going. I have brought my vehicle in to multiple service centers and none have been able to replicate or fix the issue.

The 2022 Honda Insight has an issue with "phantom touches" on the infotainment system. The system will frequently select buttons and change your screen, when no one is touching the panel. It will also freeze up, where you have no control over it. Why is this a safety hazard? Because when you're driving down the road and it takes your map away, you are constantly fighting the system trying to get your directions back, and in the process, your attention is taken off the road. When it flips radio stations on you randomly, and you keep having to try to flip it back. When it randomly pulls up your phone contact list, you have to immediately hit the home button so it doesn't dial someone. This nonsense happens A LOT, and has been ongoing since I bought the car a few years ago, especially when it's warmer outside. The last time I was at my Honda dealer I asked them to look at it. They didn't know what was causing it, but said the firmware needed to be updated, so they did that and nothing changed. To get a full understanding of what it's like, I posted a few videos. Just watch the first 30 seconds of the first video and you will immediately understand what it's like driving with this (as I am driving in this video) and seeing the buttons randomly pressed by "phantom touches." In the second video you can see what happens when the screen changes but is frozen (no matter what I try it doesn't respond)... [XXX] .... [XXX] .... [XXX] .... Here is also one of several Reddit threads regarding the issue: [XXX] ... Like me, others haven't been given any straight answer from Honda. This needs to be recalled. It's a major distraction while driving! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Approximately 29-30 months after purchase multiple panels of the car are peeling with paint. Small knicks continue to bubble and get larger. Honda is not covering this problem because the milage is past 36,000 but this is clearly a manufacturing defect; the dealership did fix two panels for us (photos starting with a 1 and 2) free of charge but will not cover a third repair (photos starting with a 3). I think this vehicle is defective and should be completely repainted or exchanged.

I have filed a complaint to the Honda Motor Company in Torrence, California. I have notifed Honda of a serious defect with our vehicles Collision Mitiagation Braking System. Here are the defects with our Honda Insight 2022 vehicle: 1) On three occasions while my wife Nino is driving on the 470 freeway in Colorado between Lone Tree and Littleton CO. Brake warning light comes on, light comes on randomly while driving 65 mph, then the Collision Mitiagation braking system comes on and slows the vehicle down to 15 mph while on the Freeway speed of 65 mph. While the brakes are engaging a forceful vacuum and pressure enters the cabin and that pressure goes to my wife's chest which casues pain. 2) 4th event was on August 15, 2023 while driving south on Kipling Ave in Littleton CO. My wife Nino was driving home appx 6:00 pm at 45-50 mph, when the vehicle did the same thing again, brake warning light displays orange yellow color, then the brakes engage to slow the vehicle down, then pressure and vacuum inside the cabin occurs with pressure towards my wife's chest. I have sent a letter yesterday to the Honda Motor Company. I would like to kindly request that you do an investigation into this matter. This defect on our vehicle is a life and dealth situation defect. My wife has been extremely lucky that no collision occured as a result of these horrible experiences. If the Honda Motor comany has not required a recall, then they should be doing this ASAP to prevent unecessary accidents to prevent citizens from dying. Our vehicle was towed on August 16, 2023 to Kuni Honda in Centennial CO. So far, the service manager said they have not been able to find the problem, but then he changed his story and said something needed to be adjusted 2-3 degrees. I requested more detailed information. I called yesterday to request the tow record and service repair records and they have not provided that info to me yet. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.

Experiencing a dead or faulty battery issue in my 2022 Honda Insight. I called the Honda dealership to see if I could charge the battery from the points noted in the owners manual. The service representative said yes. Charged the battery to 100% and proceeded directly to the dealership for service. During the drive to the dealership I experienced the dashboard lights and annunciation display with errors. TPMS, electric steering, brakes, traction control, and to see my dealer. “On my way”… During the repair process and extended waiting period of about 2 hours. It was initially determined the steering wheel was “not centered”, cocked to the left, and would need a wheel alignment. How much is that $179. You must have hit a curb or something. No I did not, and would seek a second opinion first before I allowed that service. Let’s fix the battery and dashboard light error lights first. Proceeding the battery was determined faulty, testing at 95 CCA and would be replaced under warranty. But, upon test driving the car it was still having a traction control skid type light coming on and off, and a diagnostic fee of $158 may be required. I said, shouldn’t that be an issue related to the battery going bad and causing or the cause of the traction control light? We’ll have to see, he said. I asked to speak to the manager and decided I was at tge mercy of the dealership to find a resolve and authorized service. Upon researching on the internet, during my waiting period for the battery change, I learned their is a “steering angle sensor” located under the steering wheel that my need recalibration to resolve the offset steering wheel observation of the service representative. The cause of this need for recalibration may be because of a collision, remove/replacement of a battery. The recalibration requires a special diagnostic electronic device to interface with the cars computer(s). The receipt for service said “calibrated system”.

On 2/16/23 I was driving on the highway when I heard a loud pop/bang like an explosion or loud crash on the top of my car. There were barely any cars around, no trucks spewing debris, I wasn’t going under an overpass, and I didn’t see anything fly up from the road. I had a passenger in the car who was looking out the windows at the road and didn’t see anything either. I opened the covering for the moon roof to see if something was stuck to the roof and my moon roof had exploded for no reason. Shattered glass fell into my car. My safety and the safety of others was at risk because I was in shock by what happened and it startled me while I was driving. Also, my car is not drive-able until this is fixed and it is through no fault of my own (or anyone else’s beyond the manufacturer). I took the car to a collision center to have the damage assessed for my insurance company. It is isolated to the moon roof, nothing else was damaged. It will be looked at by the dealership on Monday 2/20/23. There were no warning lights or other symptoms of failure prior to the explosion. The moon roof wasn’t cracked or chipped, not compromised in any way. The car is brand new, I bought it new in June 2022.
