I never had issues with my van when I bought it but On Monday got all the fluids drove to Phoenix and the transmission got hot the TCL light and ABs light turned on as well as the SRS light no check engine the floor on the driver side and passenger side was super hot. The transmission on 1st gear start hitting hard 2nd gear started slipping we pulled over right away let the car cool down but the transmission level where normal motor oil was at normal we did the oil service transmission service the dealer I bought it from has did Amazon service I don’t really drive it only to visit my kids. I looked up the recall and my van has a lot of them I’m worried of driving home to California I’m in Phoenix so I hope the dealer will fix the recall when u put the year of the 2003 honda odyssey my vin switch to a different one on your site please help
The contact owned a 2003 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 16V344000 (Air Bags), 15V320000 (Air Bags), and 15V045000 (Air Bags) and would like to be removed from the recall distribution list. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted.
Van has open recalls on driver and passenger side airbags. Van also has a defective driver front seat belt tensioner that Honda claims has a lifetime warranty, but Hendrick Honda of Bradenton FL refuses to perform the recalls or replace the defective seatbelt tensioner. Even after advising them that they are required by law to perform any open recalls and are not allowed to charge anything for said recalls, Service Writer "Tammy" was uncooperative and kept alluding to things like she couldn't guarantee we would not be charged up to $1500 for these repairs which honestly should ALL be recalls as they are life safety issues. Due to their refusal to perform even the NHTSA recalls even after being given the documentation of the required recall, we have to find another dealership and hope they will perform the recalls.
All recalls have been completed on this 2003 Honda Odyssey Van but every now and then the warning light for the supplemental restraint system comes on and will stay on for a long time. the next trip it will be fine. Just wondering if this is something to be concerned about. It is a car we keep at our beach house and only use on a limited basis but I need to know it is safe. I recently had vehicle scanned and had all old codes cleared. If the air bag situation is the cause of this I don't want to be driving it. East Coast Honda in Myrtle Beach, SC. WE DISPOSED OF THE VEHICLE AND YET STILL GET MESSAGES FROM HONDA. THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD AS SCRAP. PLEASE ADVISE HONDA TO CEASE AND DESIST ALL FURTHER CONTACT/NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT THE RECALL(S). WE HAVE NOTIFIED THEM MANY TIMES YET THEY PERSIST. THIS IS A DISCREDIT TO THE RECALL SYSTEM WHEN OBVIOUSLY FALSE AND ERRONEOUS MESSAGES ARE PERSISTENTLY SENT, IN ERROR. THIS CAUSES THE USER TO DISREGARD POTENTIALLY SERIOUS INFORMATION. HONDA MUST HAVE A METHOD OF ACCOUNTABILITY ADDED TO THEIR SYSTEM TO ALLLOW THE REMOVAL FROM THEIR RECALL DATABASE OF A VEHICLE WHICH HAS BEEN SOLD/TRANSFERRED/DESTROYED. HONDA HAS AN 'F' RATING WITH THE BBB ON THIS ISSUE. HONDA APPARENTLY DOES NOT TAKE RECALLS SERIOUSLY.
YELLOW SRS WARNING LIGHT COME ON WHEN DRIVING ON A ROUGH ROAD. THIS TELLS ME THAT AIR BAG SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE STARTED SINCE 2009. SECOND ISSUE IS THAT FRONT BRAKES VIBRATE SO MUCH. I HAD FULL BRAKE SERVICE AND RESURFACE DISC BUT IT ONLY STOP THIS PROBLEM FOR COUPLE THOUSAND MILES THEN VIBRATION COMES BACK WHEN BRAKING. TAKATA RECALL: BASICALLY I HAVE A HUGE ISSUE REPLACING RECALL ITEMS BECAUSE I LIVE IN A REMOTE COMMUNITY WITH ONLY FERRY ACCESS. THE FERRY CROSSING REQUIRES 6 HOURS EACH WAY AND A 60 MILE DRIVE TO ANCHORAGE ONCE WE REACH THE MAINLAND. THE COST IS $460 RT FOR THE FERRY AND 2 DAYS OF PAY, A HOTEL ROOM, FUEL, FOOD AND OVERTIME FOR MY EMPLOYEE WHO TAKES IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I'M ASKING IF THERE IS A WAY TO ALLOW OUR LOCAL MECHANIC TO DO THESE RECALLS??? I HAVE A CAR RENTAL WITH AT LEAST 12 OF THESE RECALLS OUTSTANDING. I ALSO HAVE RECEIVED TWO CARDS IN THE MAIL, AND I OWN TWO OF THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL VANS, ONE THAT SHOWS UP ON THE RECALL AND ONE THAT DOESN'T. AS PER CBS NEWS " U.S. SAFETY REGULATORS ARE DEMANDING THAT AUTOMAKERS AND TAKATA CORP. EXPAND NATIONWIDE A RECALL OF VEHICLES WITH CERTAIN DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAGS EQUIPPED WITH INFLATORS THAT CAN ERUPT AND SEND METAL FRAGMENTS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. "

WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND THE STARTING OF IT. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO USE THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS THEY ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF WORKING ORDER. WE HAVE BEEN WORRIED ABOUT IT WAS NOT A SAFE AUTO WITH SMALL CHILDREN.
WE LIVE IN MINNEAPOLIS, WE DROVE THE CAR TO HOUSTON ON 5/112017. OUR CAR WAS IN A CRASH IT HIT THE FRONT CAR AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED IN THE FRONT AND HAS BEEN TOTALLED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY WIFE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT , THOUGH WAS WEARING THE SEAT BELT HIT IN FRONT AND HER CHEST HIT THE DASHBOARD AND CAUSED IMMEDIATE PAIN. GENERALLY INCIDENTS LIKE THIS THE AIRBAGS SHOULD BE DEPLOYED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. THE CAR WAS RECALLED ONCE AND THE HONDA DEALER IN WHITE BEAR LAKE SAID THE AIRBAGS WERE REPLACED BUT STILL THEY DID NOT WORK.

THIS APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE MORNING OF JULY 9TH, 2016. AFTER I MADE THE 40 + MILE DRIVE TO WAIKEM, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT ORDER THE PART TO DO THE WORK. I WAS OFFERED NO APOLOGY, ACCOMMODATION, OR REASONABLE SOLUTION. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR, I WAS QUITE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT I WAS SPEAKING WITH HIM ALREADY. DISGUSTED WITH THEIR COMPLETE LACK OF COMPETENCE OR CUSTOMER SERVICE, I USED THEIR PHONE TO CALL PARK HONDA IN AKRON. I LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY GOT ALL OF MY INFORMATION AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME OUT THAT DAY, BUT WOULD GET THE PART IN, AND THEN CALL ME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. ON FEBRUARY 14, 2015, I BROUGHT MY HONDA ODYSSEY IN TO A DEALER FOR AN AIRBAG RECALL. TWO DAYS AFTER I GOT IT FIXED MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON WHEN IN DRIVE AND STAYED ON. I CALLED AND MADE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT CONCERNING THE LIGHT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ODS UNIT HAD FAILED AND THAT IT WAS LISTED AS A RECALL AS WELL. I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD BE ALL SET. HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO HAVE IT FIXED I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $146.48. I THEN BROUGHT THE PART AND HAD IT INSTALLED BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP WORKER. AFTER THE REPAIR THE LIGHT DID NOT OFF. ON APRIL 30, 2016 I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK FOR THE FINAL RECALL NOTICE AND TO FIND OUT WHY THE LIGHT HAD NOT GONE OFF. THIS TIME THEY SAID IT WAS THE SENSOR. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. MY PROBLEM IS THAT MY SRS LIGHT WAS NOT ON BEFORE THEY MESSED WITH THE AIRBAGS IN CONNECTION WITH THE RECALL. IF THEY MISDIAGNOSED MY CAR AND ON TOP OF THAT ALREADY MADE ME PAY $146.48 FOR A NEW OPDS UNIT (WHICH AT FIRST THEY SAID WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL) WHY SHOULD I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM? THEY CAUSED THE PROBLEM WHEN THE FIXED THE 'RECALL'. I AM VERY UNHAPPY AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE. WITH THIS LIGHT BEING ON I FEEL AS THOUGH MY AIRBAG CAN DEPLOY AT ANY TIME, PUTTING MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY. MY SERVCE REPORT FROM THE DEALER CLEARLY STATES THAT THE RECALL OF THE RETURN LINE TO THE 2ND GEAR SHOULD ONLY BE DONE IF THE VEHICLE WAS BELOW 15K MILES, HOW WAS THIS DONE ON MY CAR WITH 40K MILES AND ABOVE. AND HOW WAS THIS AUTHORIZED OR IS IT LEGAL ? GOT A REPORT FROM THE DEALER RECENTLY WHICH CLEARLY STATES THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE 2ND GEAR NOT SHIFTING TO THE NEXT GEAR. EVERY HONDA ODYSSEY OWNER KNOWS THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS AND INFERIROR CLUTCH PLATES IN THE 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. THE SRS LIGHT IN MY VEHICLE IS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. HONDA DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SWITCH IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT. PAGE 53 OF MY VEHICLE OWNERS MANUAL CLEARLY STATES THE FOLLOWING: "HONDA PROVIDES A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON SEAT BELTS. HONDA WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY SEAT BELT COMPONENT THAT FAILS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY DURING NORMAL USE." AS SUCH, THE AFOREMENTIONED SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH IS A COMPONENT OF THE SEAT BELT. HOWEVER, HONDA REFUSES TO COVER REPAIR TO MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, AS ACCORDING TO MY MANUAL, AN SRS INDICATOR LIGHT MAY CAUSE CERTAIN AIRBAGS NOT TO DEPLOY DURING A COLLISION. SUCH AN EVENT WOULD SURELY CAUSE CLEARLY PREVENTABLE BODILY HARM IF THEY WOULD JUST HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. THE PHYSICAL IMPACT OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYMENT CAUSED BLEEDING, SEVERE SCRAPES AND CONTUSIONS TO MY WIFE'S (THE DRIVER'S) LEFT ARM. ALTHOUGH VERY TRAUMATIC AND PAINFUL, WE CONSIDER THIS A VERY FORTUNATE OUTCOME GIVEN THAT THIS INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED MORE SEVERE INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH HAD IT OCCURRED: (1) AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED OR IN CROWDED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS OR (2) HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE CAUSING THEIR INFLATORS TO RUPTURE. FOLLOWING THE DEPLOYMENT, WE RECEIVED AN OFFER FROM AMERICAN HONDA TO REPAIR THE SRS SYSTEM AND TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR, BUT WE WERE DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY INSISTED THAT WE APPEAR AT THE DEALER TO SIGN A COMPLETE WAIVER BEFORE MAKING THESE REPAIRS, THAT THE OFFER TO REPLACE THE SRS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT RECALLED UNDER 15V-045 WAS TO BE DONE WITH A DEVICE STILL SUBJECT TO RECALL AND WHICH HAS ALREADY PROVEN INADEQUATE TO PREVENT INJURY AND A COMPLETE DENIAL OF COMPENSATION FOR THE INJURIES SUFFERED BY MY WIFE AND OTHER DAMAGES. THE CURRENT RECALL (AS STATED ON THEIR WEB SITE) IS LIMITED TO 13 U.S. STATES AND TERRITORIES THAT "CONSISTENTLY EXPERIENCE HIGH ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY". THE LIST DOES NOT INCLUDE INDIANA. HONDA & THE DEALER BOTH CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS INADEQUATE PART TRACEABILITY IN THEIR VEHICLES. WITHOUT SUCH TRACEABILITY TO THE VIN, NO RECALL THAT IS CONDUCTED COULD ENSURE THAT ALL OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. LETTING THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINE HOW A RECALL IS CONDUCTED IS NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PUBLIC. MANUFACTURER NEGOTIATION AND BARGAINING WITH NHTSA CONCERNING RECALLS IS ALSO AN INADEQUATE PROCESS. THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO THEM. VEHICLE, INCLUDING TIRES, WERE WELL MAINTAINED; TIRES WERE BALANCED, ROTATED PERIODICALLY AND MONITORED BIWEEKLY FOR THE CORRECT LEVEL OF AIR PRESSURE. THE WHEELS WERE ALIGNED. THE VAN IS NON-COMMERCIAL; ONLY FAMILY / PERSONAL USE. AFTER 26 MONTHS AND 27900 MILES, ONE OF THE TIRES FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE IN USE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OF IMPENDING FAILURE. ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH, AT APPROXIMATELY 7:00 PM, I WAS DRIVING OUR 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH MY FAMILY WHEN WE EXPERIENCED A SPONTANEOUS AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WHILE WAITING AT A STOPLIGHT. THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OR BEHIND US AND I WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FIRST WITH A LOUD "POP". TWO TO THREE SECONDS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED (WHERE MY WIFE WAS SITTING). FORTUNATELY, BOTH OF US WERE SITTING BACK IN OUR SEATS AND I HAD MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. NEITHER OF US WERE CONTACTED BY THE AIRBAGS THERE WAS A THIRD LOUD "POP" A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER THE DEPLOYMENTS. THE SEATBELT TENSIONERS ALSO ENGAGED AND NOW DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CONFIRMED THAT WE HAD NOT BEEN STRUCK BY ANYONE OR ANYTHING. I BROUGHT THE VAN INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR AN INSPECTION, WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED IT A LITTLE MORE THAN TWO YEARS EARLIER. THE INSPECTION REPORT STATES THAT, "DURING SERVICE INSPECTION DID NOT LOCATE ANY OBVIOUS IMPACTS AND/OR DAMAGE." THE DEALERSHIP PULLED CODES 53-41 AND 54-50, BUT SAID THEY COULD NOT GET ANYMORE INFORMATION FROM THE SRS UNIT UNTIL WE HAD THEM REPLACE THE AIRBAGS. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THEN GAVE US A QUOTE OF OVER $4100 TO FIX THE AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS. I CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA AND ASKED THAT THE CAUSE FOR THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER. IT TOOK ALMOST A MONTH TO GET A CORPORATE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP AS THE FIRST INSPECTION. LAST NIGHT I RECEIVED THE RESULTS OF THE SECOND INSPECTION, WHICH GAVE NO POTENTIAL REASONS FOR THE DEPLOYMENT. WE LEFT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP, ASKING FOR MORE SPECIFIC DOCUMENTATION ON POTENTIAL CAUSES. UPON REMOVAL OF THIS PART ALL COPPER CONTACTS TO ALL WIRES WERE EXPOSED AND ANY WIRE COULD HAVE SHORTED TO ANY OTHER WIRE -- THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL SRS/AIR BAG TO BE DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. CONTACTS WERE CONSTANTLY BEING TUGGED AT WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. BECAUSE THE CAR HAS 42,000 MILES AND HONDA WOULD NOT SAY THEY WOULD PAY TO FIX IT, I REPAIRED THIS MYSELF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HONDA SERVICE MANUAL.
