The contact owns a 2004 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle with an ignition switch failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 308,000.

In have traffic on hwy van quit pulling causing a major traffic problem upon checking Honda failed to mount a proper cooling system for the Trans even though they acknowledge doing so refuse to do anything about it apparently there's a lot of these on road luckily someone wasn't killed that day

My transmission will not shift into third fourth or fifth and I see that there is a recall on the transmission for the 2004 Honda Odysseys and I was wondering how I go about getting this repaired that’s what mines doing it won’t shift I have to manually shift it from 1st to 2nd as far as It can go.

AFTER THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE STOPPED WORKING, WE WAS STILL ABLE TO SWITCH OFF THE SWITCH AND OPEN/CLOSE IT MANUALLY A FEW TIMES. THE FOLLOWING MORNING TRYING TO DO THE SAME THING IT ONLY OPENED HALFWAY AND THEN WOULDNT LATCH CLOSED AS I TRIED THE SECOND TIME TO GET IT TO LATCH CLOSED THE WHOLE DOOR JUST FELL OFF TRACK. LUCKILY IT HAPPENED SITTING IN MY MOMS DRIVEWAY. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE SEEN WHAT WOULD HAD HAPPENED HAD I BEEN DRIVING WHEN IT CAME OFF SINCE MY 4 YEAR OLDS SEAT IS RIGHT THERE.

MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE STORE, CAME BACK FOR MY 3 YEAR OLD AND I. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CAME INSIDE FOR 10 MINS, WHEN WE CAME OUT TO LEAVE, THE ENTIRE CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BELIEVES IT WAS THE SEAT MOTOR THAT MALFUNCTIONED.

CORROSION WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP WIRING CONNECTOR AND THE FUEL PUMP RETAINING NUT WAS CRACKED / BROKEN. CUSTOMER COMPLAINT WAS STALLING WHILE DRIVING, NO START CONDITION. TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE INDICATED THE FUEL PUMP WIRING CONNECTOR WAS FAULTY THE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE CONNECTOR WAS CORRODED APPARENTLY FROM MOISTURE. THIS ISSUE IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY CONCERN CONSIDERING THE FAULTY CONNECTION CAN CAUSE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER -> LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP NUT CAN CAUSE GASOLINE FUMES TO ESCAPE CONTAINMENT WHICH MAY LEAD TO AN EXPLOSION / FIRE. IF THE CONNECTOR WAS JIGGLED THE FUEL PUMP WOULD INTERMITTENTLY OPERATE AND OR FAIL. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE THE SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN # 04V42000 OR THE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN #04-049, AND REFUSED TO MITIGATE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT OFFERING THE OPTION TO REPAIR THE ISSUE OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL WHICH WOULD COST THE CUSTOMER $454.32 FOR THE FUEL PUMP REPAIR KIT IN ADDITION TO SERVICE FEES OF AT LEAST $374.00. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED-IN AND PRESENTED FOR SERVICE ON JUNE OF 2018. THE HONDA DEALER IS PROVIDING WIRING HARNESS, RETAINING NUT AND GASKET AT A COST TO THE CUSTOMER.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE PASSENGER DOOR START, IT TO BEEP TO MY WIFES SURPRISE THE POWER DOOR NEVER LATCHED, SHE HAD TO PULL OVER AND BUMP THE DOOR TO MAKE IT LATCH. WHEN SHE CAME HOME I CHECKED THE DOOR AND CLEARLY SEE THE DOOR APPEAR AS CLOSED BUT IT DOES NOT SHUT AND IF YOU DON'T BUMP THE DOOR IT DOES NOT LATCH AT ALL. EVIDENTLY THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE BUT SHE NEVER HAD IT TO ADJURE BEFORE VERY, VERY DANGEROUS AND IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. WE HAD IT LOOKED AT ONCE AND THEY SAID IT IS FIXED BUT HERE WE GO AGAIN.

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE INTERNAL BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT COME ON INDICATING THAT WAS ANY BACK BRAKE LIGHTS, THEN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STOP GOING FORWARD LIGHT THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN THE TCS INDICATOR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND THEN THE 2004 ODYSSEY STOPPED MOVING WITHOUT ANY INDICATION AT ALL AS I WAS DRIVING IN HIGH TRAFFIC ON A CALIFORNIA FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 7:30AM ON MY WAY TO WORK. I AM TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE MODELS AND THAT I WOULD COST ME OVER $3,200.00 OUT OF PICKET TO FIX AND THEN, (I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO HONDA FOR RECALL REPAIRS, BECAUSE IT IS STILL UNDER THE RECALL STATIC AND HONDA HAS NEVER FIXED THIS PROBLEM. THE KEY WOULD FREQUENTLY FALL OUT OF THE LOCK, OR GET STUCK IN THE LOCK. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE INTERLOCK LEVER IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. WE WERE UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY BRING OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE IT WAS OUR SOLE SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. WHILE I WAS AWAY IN CALIFORNIA ATTENDING MY AUNT'S MEMORIAL, THE KEY TO THE VEHICLE FAILED TO FUNCTION WHETHER IN PARK OR OTHERWISE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER BROKE THE KEY OFF IN THE LOCK TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, BECAUSE THE SWITCH WOULD NOT PROPERLY RELEASE THE KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER TO APPLY THE RECALL REPAIR TO THE INTERLOCK LEVER *AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY PART OF THE IGNITION SWITCH* PER THE RECALL NOTICE. AFTER REPLACING THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE DEALER AND HONDA CORPORATE DECIDED THAT THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ISSUE AND REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PART OF THE REPAIR COST, EVEN THOUGH THE NOTICE CLEARLY STATES THAT REPAIRS TO THE INTERLOCK LEVER AND *ANY NECESSARY PART OF THE IGNITION SWITCH* SHOULD BE COVERED AT NO COST. [XXX] IN THE CASE MANAGEMENT DIVISION OF AMERICAN HONDA CORPORATE (HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME HIS LAST NAME, BUT INDICATED THAT HE WAS THE ONLY [XXX] IN THAT DIVISION) AND [XXX] AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, CROWN HONDA OF GREENSBORO, BOTH REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS REPAIR AND FORCED US TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE REPAIR IN ORDER TO RELEASE MY VAN. THE RECALL NOTICE CLEARLY STATES THAT NOT ONLY THE FAULTY INTERLOCK LEVER BUT ANY NECESSARY PART OF THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER THERE WERE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT WAS STILL SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THE RECALL NOTICE THAT THIS WOULD BE COVERED AT NO COST. APPARENTLY, HONDA DOES NOT FEEL THAT IT HAS TO HONOR THE RECALL NOTICE IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER MINOR MECHANICAL ISSUES EXISTING IN THE IGNITION ASSEMBLY. I WAS COMING OUT OF APARTMENT PARKING LOT AND SUDDENLY CAR STOPPED. I HAVE TO TOWED CAR TO HERB CHAMBER OF HONDA IN WESTBOROUGH, MA. TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT IT IS A COMPUTER FAILURE. I AM NOT SURE WHY COMPUTER FAIL AS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT MY USED NOT TO START AFTER PARKING. WHILE THERE, THE DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THREE OF THE FOUR ENGINE MOUNTS WERE BROKEN, RESULTING IN A $858.78 REPAIR. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT UNCOMMON IN VEHICLES WITH 100,000. WE'VE HAD CARS MUCH OLDER THAN THIS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM! IF IT'S "NOT UNCOMMON" IN HONDA ODYSSEYS, I THINK IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS AND WINDOWS AND RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT SEIZED ONE AFTERNOON. ALL SERVICE INTERVALS HAVE BEEN FOLLOWED AS WITH MY OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD TIRES AND FLUID CHANGES WITH NO OTHER FIXES. THE PAINT CONTINUES TO FLAKE OFF EVEN AFTER HONDA OF CONCORD, NC REPAINTED HALF OF THE VEHICLE. 2 YEARS AGO. VEHICLE HAS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED ON DOZENS OF OCCASIONS ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE'S 9TH BATTERY SINCE 2004. SELLING THIS VEHICLE IS NOT AN OPTION BUT REPLACING IT IS. IT WILL NOT BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER HONDA PRODUCT EVER AND I CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS EVER IN THE MARKET FOR ONE OF THESE VANS TO AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE RELAY SWITCH IN THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD BEGIN TO ACTIVATE WHILE DRIVING PRODUCING AN ELECTRIC ODOR. THE TURN SIGNAL RELAY SWITCH WAS REPLACED AT APPROX 110,000 MILES. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS NOW BEING REPLACED BECAUSE THE IGNITION KEY CANNOT BE INSERTED TO START THE CAR ROUTINELY WITHOUT BEING MANIPULATED. WHEN THIS CAR WAS RELATIVELY NEW AND UNDER WARRANTY THE FAN SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR NOW HAS 150,000 MILES. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN THE STEERING COLUMN ARE DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE TURN SIGNAL RELAY SWITCH HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BURN; AND THE IGNITION SWITCH COULD FAIL DURING OPERATION OF THE CAR. I TOLD THEM IT WAS ALSO HAPPING WHEN THE HEATER WAS ON, NOT JUST THE A/C. OF COURSE, THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM. IN THE 1999-2001 ODYSSEY MODEL THEY HAD A "CLUNK" NOISE PROBLEM ACKNOWLEDGED BY YOU. I DO NOT SEE IT FOR YEARS 2003-04. HOWEVER, I DO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND FEEL I HAVE BEEN SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. ON ONE ACCOUNT, THEY DID ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM, BUT TRIED TO CONVINCE ME IT WAS A "DEFECT" FROM 1999-2001. I FIND THIS UNEXCEPTABLE.*AK

MULTIPLE FAILURES. BRAKES PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION, ROUGH IDLE & ENGINE SURGING, STEERING COLUMN CONTROLS AND OTHERS. *BF THE AUTOMATIC DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE, THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKE PEDAL SHUTTERED, THE BRAKES WOULD CATCH WITHOUT BEING APPLIED. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE STEERING COLUMN CONTROL SWITCH HAD A SHORT, HOWEVER THE NEXT DAY THE HORN HONKED AND THERE WAS AN ODD NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED MULTIPLE TIMES. *JB

HONDA ODYSSEY 2004 AUTOMATED SLIDING DOOR FAILURE. UPON UNLOCKING CAR, AUTOMATED DOOR OPENED 2 INCHES AND HUNG LONG ENOUGH FOR MY CHILD TO PUT A HAND IN AND THE DOOR CLOSED BACK ON THE HAND. FAILURE 1 - PARTIALLY OPEN AND RECLOSE. FAILURE 2 - WAS WHEN THE DOOR DID NOT AUTO-SENSE AN OBJECT IN THE DOOR JAM BEFORE CLOSING.
