Hello, the vehicle needs new tires and the alignment is not working properly after going 60 MPH on the highway it shakes.
One main problem I have consistently noticed is signs someone other than me is getting in my car or leaving at least impression they did inside the car alot although I am the only one supposed to have a key. It was happening so much I paid Lafontaine Honda more than $1000 to change out the keys including the ignition but that hasnt resolved the problem. I still see normal evidence they are actually touching things inside my car and even stealing alot of fuel which they took so much last night it was ridiculous. I keep sending my local police reports and photos of as much as I can using the tipline and they never contact me back like they either ignoring, staying anonymous, or have no time to read my messages. They fuel is being stolen everytime I fill the tank by someone nearbye. The next issue is that there is a malfunction clearly feels like it is inside the steering wheel mechanics and not my tires that something or one is overriding the steering when I am on the freeway and highway jerking me in the direction of other vehicles when they start passing me like they trying to make them think I am threatening to hit them or threatening me to cause a collision. Exactly how it feels. They were even doing it to lyrics in the music while I was driving alot the whole trip there and back. The car seems very insecure. I see also that other people in like models cars locally are popping up on me like they have a gps on me and that is threatening. The steering wheels ignition switch was checked and I told them of the intrusion problems but they offered me no solution. Insurance is not helping me with repairs of anything and wont even offer me an option to get me discounts on car repairs or inspection help. I cant even report that type of stuff. Police also wont inspect a car but sends me away to a mechanic all the time. I think the previous owner may have modded a bunch of the parts but it is my car and should only be responding to me. Not others.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering pump hose had malfunctioned causing a power steering fluid leak. The vehicle was not yet repaired. WHEN STARTING OR PARKING CAR P/S DOES NOT WORK. ALSO LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING. HAD PRESSURE HOSE CHANGED. SITUATION GETTING WORSE AND IS BECOMING DANGEROUS. FROM MU MECHANIC AND THE INTERNET LEARNED THAT HONDA HAD SILENT RECALL BUT WAS NEVER NOTIFIED AND THAT RECALL WAS UP TO 100K. THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE AND A MANDATORY RECALL SHOULD BE LAUNCHED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME.

VEHICLE STEERING IS STIFF ON SLOW TURNS AND PARKING. STEERING COLUMN VIBRATES AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. TIE RODS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NEW TIRES, ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS HAVE ALSO BEEN REPLACED. HIGH PITCHED SOUND ALSO COMES FROM STEERING COLUMN WHILE IDLING IN STATIONARY POSITION. MOISTURE APPEARS AROUND O-RING LEADING INTO THE STEERING FLUID PUMP. REGULAR MAINTENANCE HAS ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED SINCE PURCHASE (NEW IN APRIL 2006). THE STEERING ISSUE CONCERNS ME AS THE 'SYMPTOMS' COME AND GO. I'VE TALKED WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE SAME MODEL/YEAR AND THEY EXPERIENCE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA OWES IT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY POWER STEERING PROBLEM. DURING 9/2009, I WAS INFORMED BY OTHER DRIVER'S OF MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2006 OF DIFFICULTY TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS. I WONDERED ABOUT IT AND BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT I ALSO HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS ESPECIALLY WHILE ENTERING OR LEAVING A PARKING SPACE. IN 9/2011, I HAD THE STEERING EXAMINED AND WAS TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IS INOPERABLE AT LOW SPEEDS. APPARENTLY, AMERICAN HONDA ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THIS ISSUE OF WHICH I WAS NOT INFORMED. THIS WARRANTY EXTENDED THE TIME FRAME FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO 100,000 MILES OR 7 YEARS. BY 2011, I HAD 160,602 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS CLOSER TO THE 100,000 MILE MARK BACK IN 2009. IN 2012, I WAS INFORMED BY ANOTHER CAR REPAIR SHOP OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION WITH ENCOURAGEMENT TO CALL AMERICAN HONDA. I DID AND WAS TOLD THAT I DIDN'T QUALIFY, BUT COULD FIND DOCUMENT OF THE DIAGNOSIS AND CALL BACK. IN 2015, I FIND MY RECEIPT FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP FROM 9/2011 DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. I CALL AMERICAN HONDA. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE IS POLITE, LISTENS TO MY STORY, PLACES ME ON HOLD THEN RETURNS TO THE LINE AND TELLS ME THAT THIS WILL STILL NOT BE COVERED. I HAVE BEEN "NEGLIGENT" SINCE NOT CONTACTING AMERICAN HONDA BACK AFTER MY FIRST CALL IN 2012 OR HAVING THE CAR REPAIRED FOR THIS ISSUE. OBVIOUSLY, I WANT AMERICAN HONDA TO ASSIST SINCE THIS IS NOT AN INEXPENSIVE REPAIR. I UNDERSTAND THEIR STANCE AND WISH THEY WERE MORE RESPONSIVE TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS. DURING THE CALL, I DESCRIBED THIS STEERING ISSUE TO THE REP. SHE SAID HONDA KNOWS OF IT AND WHAT THEY DID WAS TO EXTEND THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLES TO 100,000 MILES TO REPAIR IT. HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT REPAIRED IN ALL VEHICLES. THE ISSUE IS THAT PERIODICALLY THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM STOPS WORKING AND YOU MUST MANUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE POWER STEERING PUMP IN OUR ODYSSEY STARTED MAKING A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE, AND AT SOME LATER TIME, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE STEERING PUMP NOISE WAS INTERMITTENT, AND OCCURRED AT LOW AND IDLE SPEEDS ONLY. THERE WAS NEVER A LOSS OF STEERING CAPABILITY, BUT THE SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL LEADS TO DRIVER DISCOMFORT AND DRIVER FATIGUE. HONDA HAS SINCE REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AT A REDUCED COST TO US, BUT THE NEW PUMP HAS NOT SOLVED THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY. THE SHIMMY IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE EFFECTS OF A BENT WHEEL OR A OUT OF BALANCE TIRE, BUT DIFFERENT WHEELS AND DIFFERENT TIRES, IN ADDITION TO MULTIPLE TIRE RE-BALANCES HAVE FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE STEERING SHIMMY OCCURS ONLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE APPROXIMATELY 62 MPH, AND SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER ABOUT 70 - 100 MILES OF DRIVING. WITHIN THIS DRIVING SCENARIO, THE SHIMMY CAN GET VERY BAD, AND THEN AT TIMES COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR. BUT FOR MOST OF THE TIME, THE SHIMMY IS PRESENT. AT SPEEDS BELOW 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEHAVES VERY WELL. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS PROBLEM IS UNIQUE TO MY VEHICLE, OR IF OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. IF IT IS GENERIC TO THE VEHICLE DESIGN, THEN HONDA NEEDS TO PROVIDE ODYSSEY OWNERS WITH AN ECONOMICAL SOLUTION. APPEARS THAT THERE IS AN O RING ISSUE ON THIS YEAR HONDA ODYSSEY. AIR IS GETTING IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP/LINES CAUSING A WHINING DURING TURNS AND ACCELERATION. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT WARRANTS A "TSB" TO THE MECHANICS AND SERVICE INDUSTRY, HOWEVER, HONDA HAS YET TO ANNOUNCE A RECALL OR OFFER ASSISTANCE IN THE MATTER. WE CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE,WHO TOLD US TO BRING IT TO A DEALER WHICH WE DID. THEY HAD NO FINDINGS. BOTH OF THESE PLACES FEEL THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BUT TOLD US TO COME AND GET IT. DRIVING AT 50 MPH ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. MY VAN SUDDENLY GAVE A LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND AND THE CABIN FILLED UP WITH SMOKE AND I COULD NOT BREATHE OR SEE PROPERLY. I WONDERED WHAT WAS GOING ON AND QUICKLY PULLED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT TOOK ME SOME TIME TO GET OUT OF THE VAN SINCE I AM DISABLED. MY HUSBAND HAD TO LITERALLY SPEAKING, CARRY ME OUT AND SAT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. PASSERS BY HAD ALREADY CALLED 911 WHEN THEY NOTICED WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE POLICE, AMBULANCE AND FIRE DEPT CAME. THE FIRE DEPT DETERMINED THAT MY VAN WAS SMOKING HEAVILY AND THEY TOOK CARE OF THE FIRE IN MY ENGINE WHEN THEY OPENED THE HOOD. THE VAN WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THIS WILL THEN BE THE THIRD TRANSMISSION IN A VAN THAT IS LESS THAN 8 YEARS OLD. I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN JULY 2011 AT 80,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED THEN WITH PROMISES FROM HONDA THAT I WAS GOOD FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS. SO WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED EXACTLY 2 YEARS TO THE TIME THAT THE SECOND TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HONDA AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR A THIRD TRANSMISSION. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT I ALWAYS SERVICED MY VAN WITH THE DEALERSHIP. IT HAS NEVER BEEN SERVICED WITH THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. I AM STILL MAKING CAR PAYMENTS ON MY VAN AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION? I WILL APPRECIATE AN INVESTIGATION ON WHY HONDA IS ALLOWED TO SELL LEMONS TO CONSUMERS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE AWARE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON THE ODYSSEY VANS. THE TERM IS UP TO 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. I BOUGHT MY VAN IN AUGUST OF 2006, HOWEVER, SINCE I DRIVE ALMOST 100 MILES A DAY (HOME TO WORK), I HAVE MORE THAN 100,000. HERE IS MY CONCERN, I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAID PROBLEM (REGARDING THE STEERING WHEELS IS HARD TO TURN) IN THE HONDA DEALER IN CORONA EVEN BEFORE RECEIVING THIS LETTER, BUT ALL THEY SAID THAT IT COULD BE RELATED TO COLD WEATHER. THEY SAID, THEY CAN'T HELP ME BECAUSE THEY ARE STRICT ON WARRANTY EXTENSION. AND, SINCE MY MILEAGE IS NOW 165,000 MILES, THEY CAN'T HELP ME EVEN IF THE YEARS QUALIFIES ME. THEY SAID TO CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WHERE I BRING MY CAR FOR REPAIR AND SEE IF THEY CAN GIVE ME A DISCOUNT TO FIX IT. THE POINT IS IT IS NOT FAIR FOR THEM TO SET A LIMIT ON THEIR WARRANTY BECAUSE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS FACTORY DEFECT. THEY SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE ODYSSEY 2006 REGARDLESS OF THE MILEAGE BECAUSE BASED ON THIS LETTER, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINS ABOUT IT. I CALL A FEW TOWING COMPANIES AND FIND ONE THAT CAN SHOW UP WITHIN AN HOUR. WE WAIT AND ALSO GET A HOLD OF A FRIEND TO PICK US UP AFTER THE TOW TRUCK SHOWS UP. THEY TOW IT TO OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACES THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY AND DRIVE BELT. TOWING WAS $153.40 AND REPAIR AT DEALER WAS $349.56. LOSING POWER STEERING ON NARROW TWO LANE HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH IS UNSAFE AND THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY SHOULD NOT FAIL EVEN AT 111K MILES. SINCE EARLY 2010, THE STEERING PUMP IN MY 2006 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN MAKING AN INTERMITTENT WHINING NOISE. WHEN IT MAKES THIS NOISE, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES DIFFICULT TO TURN. A FEW DAYS AGO IT BECAME BAD ENOUGH TO TAKE IN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. PRIOR TO TAKING IT IN, I NOTED THAT HONDA HAS 2 TECH SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS ISSUE, ONE TO THE REPLACE THE PUMP (DEC 2010) AND ONE TO REPLACE THE STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR (2009). THE BULLETIN FOR THE PUMP SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THE PUMP DESIGN WAS INSUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER FOR THE STEERING SYSTEM, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BY A HIGHER POWER PUMP WITH A NEW PART NUMBER. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA TO TRY TO GET THIS COVERED BY HONDA AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT (BAD STEERING), THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR $250 OUT OF A $750 TOTAL REPAIR BILL. MY CAR IS APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 YEARS OUT OF WARRANTY TIME LIMIT, BUT UNDER WARRANTY MILEAGE (35000). I FEEL THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE (STEERING) AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL BEFORE A STEERING FAILURE AND SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR WORSE. *TR

AFTER GETTING THE PARTS REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS PUMP GOING BAD, I CHECKED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAS BEEN REPORTED PREVIOUSLY. I CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA, WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE GIVEN LIFE SPAN OF THIS PART IS APPROX 120-140 MILES, AND THAT WOULD PRORATE ME BACK 50% THE COST OF MY SERVICE CHARGE. THIS WAS VERY NICE AND I AM AWAITING THE CHECK IN THE MAIL. MY ISSUE IS THAT IF THERE IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THIS PART, AND IT "GOES" OUT AT VARIOUS MILEAGE ON THESE VEHICLES, IT WOULD BE HAVE BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE TO HAVE THE PART RECALLED AND REPLACED ALL TOGETHER. WE WEN TO THE DEALER WITH THIS ISSUE AFTER ABOUT 1 YEAR LATTER AND SINCE THEN THERE WAS NOTHING DONE REGARDING THIS. RECENTLY OUR HONDA WARRANTY EXPIRED IN JULY 2009 AND THE MILES ON THE CAR ARE ABOUT 35K. ALL THESE DAYS WE WERE ABLE TO ATLEAST NAVIGATE THE WHEEL EVEN IT WAS TIGHT BUT RECENTLY SINCE LAST 1 MONTH THE CAR ON SLOW SPEEDS OR ON NEUTRAL DOES NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 5,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000. THEY CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS THE POWER STERING PUMP AND ORDERED A NEW ONE AND INSTALLED IT. THREE DAYS LATER IT WAS STILL MAKING THE NOISE AND AGAIN THE DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE NOISE. SO I AGAIN TOOK IT FIRST THING IN THE AM AND THEY AGAIN CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE SINCE RECEIVED A TSP BULLETIN ON THE PROBLEM AND ARE GOING TO TRY TO ORDER THE NECESSARY PARTS TO FIX MY PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR ME FOR MONTHS AND I WILL BE SURE TO COMMENT IF THIS PROBLEM GETS CORRECTED.

THE VAN HAS DROVE TERRIBLE ALMOST FROM THE TIME WE HAVE BOUGHT IT. IT PULLED VERY BAD ON THE EXPRESSWAY TO THE LEFT. IT CAN CHANGE LANES ALL BY ITSELF, LIKE AUTOPILOT. WE TOOK IT IN REPEATEDLY, AND ALL THEY WOULD DO IS GIVE IT A FRONT END ALIGNMENT, AND WOULDN'T TEST DRIVE IT OR ANYTHING. FINALLY OVER CHRISTMAS WEEK THEY TRIED AND TRIED TO FIX IT. THEY ADJUSTED THE ENGINE CRADLE SO IT WAS HEAVIER ON ONE SIDE THEN THE OTHER, THEY ADJUSTED THE TIRE PRESSURE OFF 2 POUNDS ON ONE SIDE AND TILTED ONE TIRE 10 DEGREES OFF FROM THE OTHER ONES. THEY ALSO PUT LONG CAMBER BOLTS IN THE ENGINE CRADLE. WELL THE VAN NOW DRIVE WORSE THEN EVER. THEY HAD A FACTORY REP. DRIVE IT AND BEFORE THAT THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE TO FLY IN A ENGINEER TO TRY TO FIX IT. HE TEST DROVE IT AND SAID OH IT DRIVE LIKE ALL 2006 HONDA ODSSEYS. THEN WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. WE ARE NOW GOING THROUGH THE BBB TO GET OUR MONEY BACK. WE CANNOT BELIEVE HOW TERRIBLE WE WERE TREATED BY BRIGHTON HONDA DEALERSHIP AND BY HONDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. DON'T BUY A HONDA EVER!!! IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT EVER THEY WONT AND DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES!!! I BOUGHT THIS VAN FOR SAFETY FOR MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN AND FEEL LIKE WE ARE DRIVING A DEATH TRAP. MY 2006 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR THIS COMPLAINT. THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAKES A VERY BAD WHINING NOISE WHEN THE TEMPS ARE COLD. I WOULD SAY BELOW 50 DEGREES. WHEN WARM WEATHER APPROACHES, YOU DO NOT HEAR IT. IT IS VERY EMBARRASSING TO ME. THE VAN WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN NOVEMBER 2006 WITH ONLY 4 MILES ON IT. I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE ABOUT A MONTH AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED AND IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT WHICH IS AN HOUR AND A HALF DRIVE FROM WHERE I LIVE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I FINALLY GOT TIRED OF TAKING IT BACK AND FORTH PUTTING ADDITIONAL MILEAGE ON MY VAN THAT SHOULDN'T BE AND JUST SAID I WOULD DEAL WITH IT. WARM WEATHER CAME AND I DIDN'T HEAR IT ANYMORE. WELL THEN COMES COLD WEATHER AND I STARTING HEARING IT AGAIN SO THIS TIME I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DIRECTOR FOR SERVICE AND HE MET ME HALF WAY AND HE HEARD THE WHINING NOISE AND STATED THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR HONDA AND THEY ARE NOT SURE HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. HE STATED THEY HAD PUT 6 NEW POWER STEERING PUMPS ON ANOTHER ODYSSEY AND COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WELL THEY REPLACED MY POWER STEERING PUMP AND ABOUT A MONTH LATER IT STARTED MAKING THE NOISE YET AGAIN. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AGAIN AND HE SAID HE WOULD NOTE IT AND I COULD GET IT FIXED WHEN I WANTED TO SO I HAVE NOW TAKEN MY VAN BACK TO THE SHOP TO GET IT FIXED AGAIN. I WILL BE WRITING A CERTIFIED LETTER TO HONDA AND WILL FILE THE LEMON LAW IF NEED BE. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND I REALLY NEED MY VAN AND THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I BOUGHT A HONDA DUE TO THE REVIEWS AND RATINGS BUT I WILL THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT IT THE NEXT TIME.*JB
ENGINE STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE, MOSTLY WHEN TURNS WERE TAKEN. I WAITED AWHILE UNTIL IT JUST SEEMED TO BE GETTING LOUDER, THEN CONTINUOUS. THE REPAIR WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER SINCE THEY SAID THAT FEW CARS ARE GETTING BEYOND 36,000 MILES WITHOUT NEEDING A NEW ONE, WHEN WILL THIS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AGAIN? *NM

TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2006 HONDAY ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 5 AND 10 MPH SHE HEARD A HUMMING SOUND. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT FASTER SPEEDS SHE COULD NOT HEAR THE SOUND. THE SOUND WAS SOMETIMES LIKE A POWER TOOL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ITWAS AS IF THE ENGINE WAS REVVING HIGHER THAN THE SPEED SHEWAS DRIVING. IT ONLY HAPPENED WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD, 40 DEGREES AND BELOW ,AND USUALLY AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 - 10 MINUTES. THE CONTACT MADE A RECORDING AND LET THE DEALER SEE IT, AND T THE DEALER MAINTAINED THAT HE COULD NOT HEAR THE NOISE.

A 1500 RPM, A VIBRATION IS FELT ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN MOVING UNDER LOAD (NOT COASTING). THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME AT THE ENGINE SPEED (NOT AT 1200 RPM OR 1700 RPM). THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT NO PROBLEM WAS SHOWN IN THE COMPUTER. I ALSO COMPLAINED THAT I WAS GETTING VERY POOR MILEAGE IN TOWN (LESS THAN 15 MPH WHICH I CONSIDER NOT ACCEPTABLE). THE VIBRATION IS MY MAIN CONCERN SINCE SOMETHING MAY BE OUT OF BALANCE AND CAUSE A FAILURE. *JB
THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAKES AN INTERMITTENT LOUD WHINING NOISE WHEN AT IDLE, UNDER POWER, AND WHILE TURNING. THE PROBLEM COMES AND GOES AND ONLY OCCURS WHEN TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW 55 -60 DEGREES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS IN APRIL 2006 BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE THE PROBLEM BEGAN AND I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO POSITIVELY IDENTIFY THE NOISE. PUMP PRESSURE WAS CHECK AND DETERMINED TO BE NORMAL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PUMP WAS NORMAL AND NO REPAIRS WERE NEEDED. THROUGH THE WARMER MONTHS OF SPRING AND SUMMER THE PUMP HAS MADE NO NOISE. NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS GETTING COOLER THE PUMP IS AGAIN WHINNING. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHORTNESS OF THE STEERING COLUMN CREATES FATIGUE WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH FOR PROLONGED HOURS ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE'S DOORS CANNOT OPEN WITHOUT PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON FIRST WHICH CREATES A DELAY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE'S DOORS WILL NOT LOCK IF ONE OF THE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER ONLY WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHICH CREATES A REAR VISION PROBLEM.

PURCHASED VEHICLE 5/23/06. VEHICLE HAS VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL SINCE PURCHASE. HONDA HAS BALANCED WHEELS TWICE WITHOUT SOLVING PROBLEM. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER 7/13/06 AND ASKED FOR REPAIR OF DEFECT UNDER NEW CAR WARRANTY. DEALER REFUSED AND GAVE ME A WORK ORDER STATING: HONDA REPRESENTATIVE HAD FOUND, LAST TIME IN, " VIBRATION TO BE NORMAL AT THIS TIME AS PER DPSM 999"...IN CONVERSATION WITH HONDA REP. HE TOLD ME VIBRATIONS ARE NOT A DEFECT BUT A CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE. SAFETY, EXCESSIVE WEAR ON MECHANICAL COMPONENTS AND DEGRADED RE-SALE VALUES ARE NOT AN ISSUE. IT WAS ALSO MY RESPONSIBILITY PRIOR TO PURCHASING VEHICLE TO TEST DRIVE AND DETERMINE "CHARACTERISTICS" AND EITHER TO PURCHASE OR DECLINE PURCHASING ON THAT BASIS... IT APPEARS HONDA IS ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE BURDEN AND EXPENSE OF THEIR DEFECTS ON THE CONSUMER. *JB
