I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) Driver sliding door doesn't work 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (Doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop Those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) A bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) The brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) The radio did not work and gave an "Error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. PEDAL IS VERY SOFT. REQUIRES HALF PEDAL OR MORE TO STOP. FIRMS UP IF PEDAL IS PUMPED. INCREASING STOPPING DISTSNCES & UNABLE TO GUAGE SAFE STOPPING DISTSNCES. MOST NOTICED AT CITY SPEEDS & EXITING THE HIGHWAY.

TIRES PRURCHASED FROM WALMART 10/6/18 WERE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY AND THEY CHANGED THE MANUFACTURES CALIBRATION. THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON, I RETURNED THE VAN TO WALMART; THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM AND I MADE FIVE VISITS. THE MANAGER DID NOT KNOW WHAT A TPMS SENSOR WAS; DID NOT HAVE ANY IN THE SHOP. I FREQUENTLY HAD THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRE CHECKS. TWO WEEKS AGO, DRIVING THE VAN THE TIRES SEEMED TO BE WOBBLY, I HAD THE AIR PRESSURE CHECKED AGAIN AND AGAIN. ON APRIL 15, 2021, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH WALMART AT THE MAIN OFFICE AND TOOK THE SUV TO THE HAMMOND, INDIANA CAR CENTER. AFTER HAGGLING WITH THE STAFF FO OVER 4 HOURS, THEY REPLACED THE TWO TIRE. THE PROBLEM OF THE WOBBLING TIRES HAD NOT BEEN SOLVED. ONLY THE WOBBLING WAS LESS NOTICEABLE. I MADE OVER 20 TELEPHONE CALLS TO THE CAR CENTER WITHOUT THE PHONE BEING ANSWERED. TODAY I FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH WALMART HEADQUARTERS.MARTHA, THE PERSON THAT TOOK THE COMPLAINT STATED THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY THE CAR CENTER. THIS CENTER SHOULD BE CLOSED; LIVES ARE AT STACK AND THE WORKERS ARE RUDE AND ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE TREAD ACT. I NEVER EXPERIENCED THE TPMS COMING ON UNTIL WALMART REPLACED MY TIRES. MY MECHANIC DRIVE THE SUV AND HIS OBSERVATION WAS "THE FRONT TIRES ARE OUT OF ROUND BY 1/4 INCH AND INNER SIDE WALL BULGING". HIS FIRST OBSERVATION WAS IN OCTOBER 2018, SHORTLY AFTER WALMART INSTALLED THE TIRES. ON 4/15/21, I CONTACTED GOODYEAR AND THEY GAVE NO INFORMATION ON TPMS . I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS SUV AD I BELIEVE THAT WALMART IS VIOLATING THE TREAD ACT. THEY RELUCTANTLY REPLACED THE TIRES, BUT EVEN WORSE THE TPMS LIGHT IS STILL ON. THERE WERE NO NOTIFICATIONS POSTED ON THE WALLS IN THAT CAR CENTER. IN ADDITION, MY SON RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES FOR HIS SUV FROM THIS SAME WALMART HE WAS NOT GIVEN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT TPMS SENSORS AND NONE WERE INSTALLED.

I PURCHASED THIS USED CAR IN MARCH 2020. THE ISSUE I AM HAVING IS WITH THE BRAKES. THE CAR REQUIRE A MORE THAN USUAL PEDAL PRESSURE FOR THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING IN HIGH SPEED. I HAVE ALSO RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF HONDA ODESSEY OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT SAME ISSUE.

IT IS VERY CONCERNING WHEN I'M DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE MOUNTAINS AND FEEL LIKE I ALMOST DON'T HAVE CONTROL OF THE CAR SINCE IT SHAKES SO MUCH. ON FEB 1, THE CAR WAS IN A PARKING LOT, PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AND RAN OVER A HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGN. ON FEB 14, IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED INTO A TRACTOR-TRAILER CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE ODYSSEY, BUT NOT TO THE TRACTOR TRAILER. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP MAINTAINS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OR ACCELERATOR. AS THE OWNER, I AM CONVINCED THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND IN FACT WE HAVE GOTTEN RID OF THE CAR AND BOUGHT A NEW ONE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT 22 OTHER PEOPLE HAD HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 ODYSSEY. ON OCTOBER 16, 2013, MY HONDA ACCELERATED AT A FAST SPEED UP MY DRIVEWAY AND CAUSED $6,178.37 IN REPAIR COSTS AND SLAMMED INTO MY FRONT PORCH. THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK TO STOP THE CAR. WE IMMEDIATELY INFORMED HONDA AND OUR INSURANCE CARRIER OF THE ACCIDENT, AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO HONDA IN OLD BRIDGE, NJ, AS IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO DAMAGE. ON 11/15/2013, SEE CLAIMS SUMMARY, HONDA COULD NOT DETERMINE IF THIS AN ACCELERATION ISSUE. THEY NEVER INFORMED US OF WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. HONDA DID NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR, SO I HAD TO RENT A CAR FROM 10/21/13 TO 11/26/13, WHICH I PAID $603.96 OUT OF POCKET (RECEIPTS ENCLOSED). THE AMOUNT OF TIME HONDA WAS WAY TOO LONG FIX MY CAR AND I HAD PAY ADDITIONAL RENTAL COSTS DUE TO THEIR UNREASONABLE DELAY. SHORTLY, AFTER HONDA REPAIRED MY CAR, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT THE BRAKES WERE RECALLED. REALLY? THIS IS WHY MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON MY HONDA. A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE, THE ENGINE BROKE DOWN. I WROTE TO NJ ATTORNEY GENERAL, WHO WROTE BACK AND ASKED THAT I WRITE TO YOU. I AM ALSO ATTACHING PICTURES OF THE ACCIDENT. THERE ARE TIRE MARKS IN THE DRIVEWAY DUE TO THE HIGH SPEED OF THE ACCELERATION. PHOTOS FLUIDS RUNNING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY, AND THE DAMAGED FRONT END. I HAVE ALSO ENCLOSED NJ MANUFACTURER'S, COPY OF THE CLAIM SUMMARY DATED 11/15/13. THIS MATTER IS VERY UPSETTING TO ME AND THE WAY IT WAS HANDLED BY HONDA. MY HUSBAND, ALSO PURCHASED A NEW PILOT, AND MY HONDA WERE BOTH PURCHASED NEW AT THE SAME HONDA. I KNOW THERE ARE ACCELERATION ISSUES WITH THIS HONDA AND THIS WAS AN ACCELERATION ISSUE AND A MECHANICAL ISSUE ON THE FAULT OF THE BRAKES I AM REQUESTING TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE CAR RENTAL, INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE AND A REFUND OF THE COST I PAID FOR THE HONDA IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,931.46. MY CAR HAS NEVER DRIVEN THE SAME SINCE THE ACCIDENT.

VERY STRONG GAS SMELL
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKES JUST LOST POWER AND I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE VERY FIRMLY TO FEEL ANY ACTUAL BRAKING HAPPEN. THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED ABOUT 200 MILES AGO AND THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSHED DUE TO PREVIOUS ISSUE OF A VERY SPONGY OR SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE FAILURE STARTED AT THE END OF A 50 MILE COMMUTE AT AS I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND APPROACHED A RED LIGHT IT TOOK TWICE-THREE TIMES THE NORMAL DISTANCE TO STOP GOING ABOUT 40 MPH.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WOODLAND HILLS KEYES HONDA AND LEARNED THAT THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE. THIS SAME VEHICLE WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. BASED ON HONDA'S RECOMMENDATIONS, THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER IS TO BE REPLACED IF THERE IS ANY LEAK. THIS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 60 SECONDS. I'M STATING THIS MILDLY WHEN I SAY THE EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIFYING. I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND CALLED OUR MECHANIC WHO ADVISED I SLOWLY AND SAFELY DRIVE THE VAN TO THE SHOP, WHICH WASN'T TOO FAR AWAY, OR CONSIDER HAVING IT TOWED. I CHOSE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE MECHANICS AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN. UPON DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, OUR MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A STEERING SENSOR THAT LOST ITS MEMORY AND NEEDED RESET, AN EASY FIX AND THAT WHILE THIS PROBLEM IS RARE, IT'S NOT UNHEARD OF, YET IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. (WE HAD RECENTLY HAD NEW TIRES INSTALLED PRIOR TO THIS EVENT, THE MECHANIC SUSPECTED THAT WHILE THE TIRES WERE BEING CHANGED, THE SENSOR'S MEMORY MUST HAVE BEEN WIPED.) THE SECOND EVENT WAS THIS PAST WED., OCT. 2, THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS BEFORE HAPPENED AGAIN. ONLY ON THIS OCCASION, OUR MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DID NOT PROVIDE A CODE AS IT HAD BEFORE, BUT RECOGNIZING THE COMPLAINT, THEY RESET THE SENSOR AGAIN. IN BOTH EVENTS, THE ROADS WERE DRY, CLEAR WEATHER, WE WERE DRIVING ON NEW TIRES AND AT LOW SPEEDS, HAVING JUST MOMENTS BEFORE TURNED ON THE IGNITION AND BEGUN ACCELERATING. WE ARE NOW BEING TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE HAS TWO BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS. ON A RECENT VACATION WE FIRST NOTICED ON MODERATE DOWNHILL GRADES WITH VERY MODERATE BRAKING WHEELS WOULD START TO SHIMMY WITH SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. WITH A TOTAL RELEASE OF BRAKES, SHIMMY WOULD IMMEDIATELY STOP, AND NO WHEEL VIBRATIONS WOULD BE FELT. BRAKING ON FLAT AREAS OR IN CITY DRIVING NO VIBRATIONS ARE FELT, EVEN WITH FAIRLY HARD BRAKING. DURING OUR TRIP THIS STARTED HAPPENING ON ALMOST EVERY DOWNHILL GRADE MAKING THE CAR VERY HARD TO CONTROL. RETURNED FROM OUR TRIP AND DROVE MOSTLY ON ROADS WHERE WE DO NOT HAVE MANY DOWNHILL GRADES AND DID NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN, UNTIL RECENTLY WE TRAVELED ON AN INTERSTATE ROAD FROM A CITY APPROXIMATELY 50 FROM US THAT HAD SEVERAL DOWNHILL GRADES. ON EVERY SLIGHT DOWNHILL GRADE IF THE BRAKES WERE EVEN APPLIED VERY GENTLY, THE SHAKING AND STEERING WHEEL WOBBLE WOULD START IMMEDIATELY. BUT AGAIN WOULD NOT DO IT ON A LEVEL ROAD. THIS SHAKING AND VIBRATION MAKES THE CAR VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND NOW HAS ONLY 26333 MILES, AND HAS ONLY BEEN SERVICED BY A HONDA DEALER. EVERY TIME THE BRAKES WERE CHECKED FOR SERVICE EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK. THE BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN WORKED ON OR HAD ANY REPAIRS OF ANY SORT DONE ON THEM OR ANY RELATED PARTS. IT IS STILL IN COMPLETE FACTORY CONDITION. THE REAR RIGHT BRAKE LOCKED UP OVER NIGHT AND DESTROYED THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE REAR WHEEL. THE ENTIRE BRAKES WERE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY A YEAR EARLIER ON ALL 4 WHEELS SO THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A 1 YEAR OLD BRAKING SYSTEM. DEALER SAID IT MUST HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE SENSOR THAT DID NOT LET GO OF THE REAR BRAKE AND IT INSTANTANEOUSLY DESTROYED THE REAR WHEEL BRAKE. THE GRINDING SOUND WAS VERY LOUD AS THE BRAKE DID NOT LET GO AND DESTROYED THE ONE YEAR OLD ROTOR. I RECALL READING ABOUT A RECALL FROM HONDA IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2013 (RIGHT AFTER MY INCIDENT) ON OTHER HONDA VEHICLES AND ALSO SOME ODYSSEY OVERSEAS BUT NOT IN USA. NEITHER THE AGENCY WHERE I PURCHASED IT NOR THE HONDA AGENCY 60 MILES FROM MY HOME COULD FIND A PROBLEM. IN APRIL, 2012 THE BRAKES OPERATED ON THEIR OWN AFTER MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN. I WAS GOING 20-25MPH. I PULLED OVER, TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN. AGAIN, NOTHING WAS FOUND TO BE WRONG. IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN JUNE, 2012 AND NOTHING WAS FOUND TO BE WRONG. IN NOVEMBER, 2012 IT BRAKED AGAIN. I LEFT THE MOTOR RUNNING AND CALLED THE PLACE WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY CAME AND DROVE IT TO THEIR SHOP (IT TRIED TO BRAKE 5 TIMES DURING THE 10 MILE DRIVE BUT DID NOT SUCCEED). A STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WAS REPLACED PER THE CODES. MARCH, 2013, 250 MILES FROM HOME IT DID IT AGAIN. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND DROVE 250 MILES HOME. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A "HISTORY", BUT PILOTS AND ACURAS HAD A RECALL IN MARCH, 2013 FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. WE HAVE A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 76,000 MILES. IN DECEMBER 2012 WE HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MINUTES, EXITING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING TO REACH 65 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN WE REACHED APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH AND WERE STILL ACCELERATING THE CAR SPONTANEOUSLY APPLIED THE BRAKES FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS, LURCHING US FORWARD. WE STOPPED ACCELERATING AND BEGAN TO PULL OVER. IT AGAIN SPONTANEOUSLY BRAKED AS WE WERE SLOWING DOWN. WE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE SLOWLY ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TO GET TO THE NEXT EXIT, AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ONCE WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO STOP IN A SAFE PLACE WE TURNED OFF THE CAR. WE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT DID NOT DO IT AGAIN. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY ONLY FOUND ONE CODE - THE STEERING SENSOR. THEY RE-CALIBRATED IT BUT WERE NOT CONVINCED THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. SURE ENOUGH, APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WE WERE NOT GOING QUITE AS FAST AND IT DID NOT LURCH QUITE AS SEVERE. AFTER IT DID THIS THREE TIMES I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND PUSHED THE SWITCH TO TURN THE VSA OFF. IT DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO CODES. THEY DROVE 17 MILES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS BOTH TIMES WERE APPROXIMATELY 30-40 DEGREES WITH SOME SNOW OR WETNESS ON THE GROUND FROM PRIOR PRECIPITATION. THE DEALER CONTINUES TO SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM BECAUSE IT SHOWS NO CODE AND THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED AND THEY INSTRUCTED DEALER TO DRIVE AGAIN AND TRY TO DUPLICATE.
