TAILGATE MALFUNCTION - unable to open and close tailgate. Warning message on dash states - TAILGATE POWER FAILURE
Vehicle was driving normally down the highway then proceeded to shutdown without warning. Suddenly all of the trouble Lights appeared indicatinging engine, transmission, hill assist etc cut on without warning. The van would not drive above 55 mph when turned back on.
Power Tailgate Problem is going off repeatedly while car is on. Power tailgate does not open with remote or button inside car. There seems to be water leaking in tailgate seams. The constant beeping of problem popping up is startling and distracting to driver.
The SRS airbag fault has been popping up for a while on the van. I went to my local dealership to get this fixed. $1,500 later they tell me they fixed an airbag harness and the problem should be good to go. A week later the fault appears again. I feel like they’re just throwing parts at the van to fix this legitimate safety concern. Now they want to charge us $3,000 to fix another harness. For this being a safety concern and have been told my air bags may not be deploy in a crash, the dealership and Honda isn’t taking this situation serious.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral as indicated by the gear shift indicator light. The contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted, and the vehicle was unable to shift into drive. The Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure System, and Transmission Fault Detected messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the Transmission Control Unit. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V299000 (Power Train, Electrical System), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.

I am the original owner of this vehicle and have performed all regular maintenance on schedule. It is our primary family vehicle and now over 120,000 miles. Since purchasing it new in 2018, the fuse for the horn has blown out several times each year. Most recently, the horn has stopped working, but the fuse remains intact. I am at a loss as to how to repair without taking apart the steering wheel which could damage the airbag. This is a serious safety issue as the horn is necessary to avoid accidents. I have spoken to the service department at my dealer and they are unaware of any recalls affecting the horn.
My engine lights started flashing. I was stranded with my children. Had to coast into a nearby gas station. I’m told it’s a failed monocular camera causing all of it. When I google that it looks like it has happened to SO MANY people! A recall needs to happen.
Something is wrong with the camera and causing all warnings to go off.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? passenger side sliding door not functioning while vehicle turn on. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? passenger on my vehicle can't exit out the vehicle in case of emergency. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? none. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? none. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? none.
Read Driver side power sliding door, got stuck halfway open. I've had this happen on the passenger side as well, but after turning the car off, putting power doors to manual, and rocking it back and forth, I got it fixed no problem and ended up having to replace a bump sensor on the door and it resolved. I thought that's what was going on when it happened to my driver side door as well. However after I turned the car off, and turned the doors to manual it still wouldn't close. I turned them back to automatic, turned the car back on, and the door proceeded to start going back, it rocked violently then broke the rear window and before stopping again. I read this track roller has been a problem for MANY users of this van and in some cases the entire door has fallen off because of it.
The forward facing camera has failed. A myriad of systems are dependent upon functionality of camera including collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, cruise control, and automatic lighting and high beams. The failure also prompts a transmission system failure, though it's unclear how/why that system would be related. All issues are prompted by warning lights on the dash and the systems are inoperable. Research of the issue suggests it's a common failure across Odyssey and CR-V models with front-facing cameras and related safety systems.
While traveling in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (40,000 mile) the vehicle completely shut off and placed itself into neutral. The warning lights for emissions system problem, brake problem, and parking assist problem lit up on the dashboard. The vehicle went into neutral and would not allow me to drive at all. Then the vehicle shut off all within 30 seconds. The vehicle would then not restart and now i have to get the vehicle towed to the Honda Service Department. After looking through other complaints there is a known recall for manufacturer defected fuel injectors for my year model odyssey but does not appear when i search for recalls. This was an insanely dangerous situation here in Oahu where the traffic is very bad. The vehicle gave no warning or check engine light and we have completed every service for the vehicle. The vehicle just randomly completely shut off and would not restart leaving my family of 5 stranded.
On our 2019 Honda Odyssey the passenger sliding door is failing to latch closed and stay closed or locked. The door is popped out in the back because the latch mechanism will not engage and electronically lock as part of the normal closing sequence like the other door. From what I can tell, this is the same issue reported in Service Bulletin 18-128, however when I called Honda about it, they said my VIN was not included in that recall. I am concerned because it seems like the same problem and it creates an unsafe situation where the door is not fully latching, even when manually closing the door and trying to lock it. I can hear excessive noise from that side of the vehicle, and the warning message flashed saying there is an issue with the Right Side Sliding door, and the dome lights come on with an audible warning tone. I am unable to put passengers in the back of the van and needed to be very careful when driving it to the dealership for diagnosis yesterday. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I think this issue should be covered under recall work, since it seem like it is the same issue described in the service bulletin 18-128.
My radar and multipurpose camera need replacement
While accelerating from a complete stop at a red light, immediately after refueling, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion power and forced itself into Neutral without any driver input. The dashboard lit up with numerous system warnings at once, including: •Emissions System Problem •Brake System Problem •ABS Problem •Brake Hold System Problem •Electric Parking Brake Problem •Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem The engine won't start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an active intersection. I attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times with no success. Police responded to the scene, confirmed the vehicle could not be driven, and a tow truck transported it to a nearby Honda dealership. The tow truck driver suspected an alternator failure, but the dealer’s inspection the next day could not reproduce the issue. They reported that the alternator and battery “tested fine” and that no trouble codes were stored in the ECU. No repairs were performed, and no cause was identified. Safety Concern: This incident created an immediate traffic hazard. The vehicle’s sudden loss of propulsion in traffic, combined with the inability to restart, could easily have caused a collision. Multiple critical systems were reported as failed simultaneously, indicating a possible electrical, fuel system, or control module failure. I am aware of similar complaints from other 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey owners in which sudden power loss occurred, often accompanied by numerous system fault messages. Many reports link these events to fuel pump failures, loose battery/ground connections, or transmission control malfunctions. This suggests a broader pattern of intermittent safety-related defects. Requested Action: Please investigate this incident and similar cases for potential design or component defects.
Sometimes the door locks will not lock, an obvious safety issue. I'm certain all the doors are closed and contacts are clean. I'm guessing a flakey relay because it doesn't happen a lot, perhaps 8 times in the past 12 months. I reported it to Honda America but they said the dealer has to verify it and the dealer has been unable to reproduce it.
While driving, infotainment screen went black and audio died. Restarting car did not solve the problem. Dealer pulled and reinstalled a fuse which "fixed" the problem but said it was a known problem and could recur. It has been several years since it has happened but I figured I'd report it since some car settings are only available through the infotainment system.
Not sure if this is the right complaint form, but we attempted to have a service center address 2 recalls on our vehicle and they would not perform them and would not provide a reason why the recalls were not addressed. The service center is AutoNation Honda in Westminster CO [XXX] ). We dropped our vehicle off on 7/24 for an oil change and to address the recalls. They said the work was complete on Monday 7/28 but would not provide an invoice of work completed. I've attempted to contact the service center by text and phone calls and they are not responsive. I contacted corporate Honda and they confirmed that the recalls have not been addressed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
After two months of sitting outside in the Arizona Sun, the transmission was replaced on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. A day after picking it up all of the sensors came on. I have been informed that it’s an internal failure with the ADAS camera that’s housed in the windshield. After a brief web search, this seems to be a common issue related to electrical issues with the car. Since the electrical was connected and disconnected during the transmission replacement begs to reason that there was something faulty about this camera that didn’t make its way through the reset.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that whenever it rained, water was leaking into the vehicle and caused the rear door circuit board and power module to short circuit. The contact stated that the rear door was inoperable. The contact stated that the failure was an ongoing issue which started a year after purchasing the vehicle new. The contact stated that whenever it rained the rear door failed to function normally. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same dealer several times and the dealer was unable to duplicate or determine the cause of the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer for the recent failure. The dealer diagnosed that water had entered the vehicle from the roof and had accumulated in the rear door near the electrical circuits. The dealer determined that the rear door power module and circuit board needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

Upon coming to a complete stop on the freeway, the idle engine feature stopped the engine. Upon letting go of the gas, the engine wouldn't restart and the electrical systems in the car malfunctioned showing a restart of the car would be needed. After trying to restart the car, the engine wouldn't turn over. After pushing the off button and starting the car again, it finally restarted. This created a hazardous situation as there was the potential for the car behind us to rear end us since we were at a complete stop on the freeway. After the software update, this happened again at a right turn on a local street.
Majority of the time while driving you can hear static popping noises from the speakers. Sometimes it will degrade to not having any audio via radio, res, or phone connection. When it is in this state if placed in reverse, the backup camera will not function or display on infotainment screen.
The automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning will occasionally go off when there are no vehicles or obstructions in the way. It will often cause the vehicle to brake and make the driver act to keep the vehicle in lane or from another vehicle from rear ending you.
The lkas and several other lights are on in the vehicle and no one has been able to provide any answers as to why. Nor can the problem be fixed. There is also a problem with the transmission. Upon acceleration there is a hesitation that the car will not engage
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that several unknown warning lights were also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed camera system. The contact was informed that the camera system needed to be replaced, and the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,395.

2019 Honda Odyssey - the power tailgate stopped working. First I saw a tailgate malfunction warning in the dashboard. I pulled over to make sure the tailgate was closed all the way. It opened and closed. By the time I got home, it couldn’t open or close at all. I called two local dealers and they seemed hesitant to work on it. The only way to open the tailgate is with the manual emergency latch.
Power Tailgate failure. The power tailgate no longer opens and closes. There seems to be no cause for this. I have read, however, on several forums that this is a manufacturing defect and that rainwater is getting through the seal to damage the control motor. I cannot open the tailgate from outside the vehicle. This is a safety concern. There were no warnings leading up to this. I called my local Honda dealer to find out if there were any safety recalls, but there were none. I think there should be--this vehicle is only 6 years old.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey’s power liftgate control model failed due to water intrusion. My liftgate started to open and close while I was driving, would close on me while loading/unloading the trunk, and would also open while parked in parking lots nearly hitting passing vehicles. It is truly a huge safety concern. Once the old module was out, I found extensive corrosion and rust on the module and its housing. As well, the entire bracket inside of the vehicle is rusted. There appears to be a defect in the manufacturers body seams that is allowing water to enter.
My tailgate originally would not open and now the vehicle is inoperable. This was caused by a leak through the roof, where Honda failed to properly seal a seam, causing water to get onto the trunk control module and damage it. I see online this is happening with almost all Gen 5 Honda Odysseys and is clearly a manufacturing defect, causing thousands in repairs for each.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the messages "Emissions system Failure", "Brake System Failure", "Brake Hose System Failure", "Power Steering Failure", "EPS Failure, "Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Failure", "Hill Start Assist Failure" and "Road Departure Mitigation System Failure" were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a vehicle safety complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

On a rainy day, the power tailgate began to malfunction. First it would open part of the way, beep, and then close, then when trying again it would go move back and forth on its own, and then close. Trying it again later, however, it completely stopped working to the point where we had to manually force it to open and close, only the latch would work. The heads-up display showed power tailgate error. On my attempt to troubleshoot I found that water had leaked into the area behind the driver's-side rear inside body panel where the rear control module and fuse housing is located, which I noticed was covered with water. I was able to partially dry this. Later on the rear tailgate started working again briefly but the problem returned and now it no longer works. I contacted Honda USA about this issue and they told me there is no recall for this, however when I did a google search this issue immediately pops up and seems to be a common manufacturing safety problem that has not been addressed.
I am filing this complaint to report a recurring and costly defect involving the starter system in my Honda Odyssey. The vehicle has been experiencing starter failures every few months, requiring repeated repairs and part replacements. Each time the starter fails, I am left stranded without warning, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when the failure occurs in public areas, on road shoulders, or during emergencies. The defect has caused extreme inconvenience, financial strain, and raised serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. Given the frequency and cost of the problem, I believe this constitutes a systemic defect that should be investigated for a potential recall or manufacturer responsibility. I urge the NHTSA to thoroughly investigate this matter to determine whether this ongoing issue with the starter poses a broader public safety concern and qualifies for regulatory or enforcement action.
Shortly after owning we started noticing sporadic jerks between 24-29 mph that felt like a hard up shift. We immediately brought to our local Honda dealership where they performed a software update. We were told that the vehicle struggles to shift while under load. Recently our van was making a whining noise and seemed hard/delay to accelerate in drive as well as reverse. Almost felt like I was in neutral, but was not. NO warning lights were on, but something was not right so I went home. The next day it would not start and lit up every warning light. We had it towed to the dealership and was told battery was shot so they replaced. On way home it was still hard to accelerate so we brought it right back to the dealership and have been told a new transmission is needed. We have had all maintenance done at dealership prior to this. In fact, the vehicle was just in 3 weeks ago for an oil change and everything looked great. These issues have occurred without any warning lights or diagnostic alerts, making them unpredictable and dangerous. A transmission should not fail without any particular warning to the driver. It seems these transmissions have had a defect from the date of manufacturer that cause malfunctions, premature failing, costly repairs, and most important major safety concerns. Honda needs to be held accountable.
Nine simultaneous, spontaneous errors while driving in town. Error messages were as follows: * Emissions System Problem * Brake System Problem * Transmission System Problem * Brake Hold System Problem * Power Steering System (EPS) Problem * Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem * Hill Start Assist Problem * Road Departure Mitigation System Problem * Blind Spot Info System Problem
My power liftgate ceased to open or close via any electronic means (button on dash, button on remote, tailgate left button on back of vehicle). The tailgate control module in the rear driver side panel was full of water when it was removed. The circuit board back side was covered with moisture damage which has shorted out the board.
LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, Road Departure, Auto High Beam Problem, and Brake System - all these dash lights come on due to unknown reasons. New battery and terminal connections have good contact. Four safety features are now inoperative and no Cruise Control.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the low oil pressure warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that messages indicating Emissions, Lane Assist failures, and other unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the vehicle had passed inspection, and the failure could be a computer software failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V439000 (Back Over Prevention, Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. Additionally, the contact stated that the passenger's side and driver's side sliding doors had failed to open and close as intended while engaging the automatic power door switch. The contact stated that the sliding doors were able to close manually for a while. The contact stated that upon closing the sliding doors manually, a chime indicating that the sliding doors were not closed securely was sounded. The contact stated that the passenger's side sliding door was half-opened and half-closed. The contact stated that the driver's side sliding door had failed to close and to latch as intended. The contact stated that one of the interior sliding door panels had fallen while driving. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V437000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure, and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

BCM software is out of date or not programmed correctly, car turns off while driving. when park and off and the keys are away, car tries to turn on by itself. power lost while driving
Water intrusion from driver side roof rack seal caused water entering the vehicle. Trunk underneath carpet wet. Power Tailgate stopped working and it was identified that the ECU (control unit) part number 74970-THR-A12 located behind the rear driver side trunk trim got water into it and corroded. Need to be replaced. Roof need to be re sealed. Further damage/corrosion from water which already was entering the vehicle unknown at this point.
I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which poses a risk to me and my family. The issue is intermittent, making it difficult for the dealership to replicate. The problem began when the Collision Mitigation System warning light flashed, indicating a system malfunction. This was followed by multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard. At times, the entire dashboard and screen go blank, and all gauges shut off while I am driving on both city streets and highways-though the engine remains on. Additionally, I have experienced the following issues: The steering wheel stiffness when making turns, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being at a stop. In December 2023, I took the vehicle to a Honda Dealership, where they recommended replacing the front camera/sensor (behind the rear mirror) at a cost of over $1,500.00. I proceeded with the repair in December 2023. However, the same issues returned in January 2025. This defect poses a severe safety risk, especially when driving at higher speeds or in traffic. Since the dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue due to its sporadic nature, I am requesting an investigation into this matter to determine if other owners are experiencing similar safety risks. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.
Water was leaking inside of the back driver side corner of the tailgate. The water built up inside of the PTG module and ruined it. The tailgate lock suddenly failed and opened up while driving down the road. The warning lamp illuminated that said tailgate error. No wreck just a sudden fail. i have video of the module pouring water out of it as i removed it from the vehicle.
The camera sensor in my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L failed due to excessive overheating. The sensor reached extreme temperatures, leading to a complete system failure. As a result, the vehicle became inoperable. The failed component is no longer available for inspection as I was forced to purchase a replacement due to the vehicle’s dependency on it for proper function. The failure of the camera sensor created multiple dangerous situations: Loss of vehicle control: The vehicle lost acceleration functionality and automatically shut itself down, which could have led to a crash in traffic.Dashboard warning lights: All dashboard lights illuminated simultaneously, indicating a severe system failure. Fire hazard: The sensor was emitting extreme heat, creating a potential fire risk due to overheating electronics. Exposure to the elements: The sensor’s placement in direct sunlight likely contributed to its overheating, further increasing the risk of failure. Mandatory dependency on the sensor: The vehicle was rendered inoperable without the functioning sensor, leaving me without a safe means of transportation. A Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the sensor had failed due to overheating. However, they stated that the cost of replacement, installation, and recalibration would be my financial responsibility. The issue was evaluated by a Honda dealership, but no manufacturer action was taken to address the failure beyond suggesting an expensive repair. All dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously. Loss of acceleration control occurred before the vehicle shut down automatically. The sensor was emitting extreme heat prior to the failure. The issue persisted after restarting the vehicle—after a 10-minute cooldown, the vehicle restarted but failed again after 3-5 minutes. This malfunction was not only a significant inconvenience but a major safety hazard. The sensor’s location makes it highly susceptible to overheating.
Several warning lights turned on. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on. This has been happening for the past 8 months i have to unplug the battery so the codes erase and the car starts driving normal then 2 days later they come back and car wont accelerate or would have hard time picking up speed I researched and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues as mines.
The power tailgate is not working, no fuse is blown, control model needs to be replaced, likely due to leak in back of car (happened after heavy rain). Looks like many owners of the same car have experienced the same issue.
When starting my van, I got warnings for ACC, Lane Departure, and Collision Mitigation stating that the issues were broken. I received error code U3000-49 at the Honda repair dealer which stated the multipurpose camera no longer works. In doing my research, it appears this is a known issue that Honda is not taking responsibility for and charging $1,500 to $2,000 to repair. They state the car works fine other than having none of those safety features working.
A number of warnings popped up: adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, and auto high beam problem. Only light that is on is my brake system light. I read a bit on some forums and it is likely to be the the front camera. Apparently the Multipurpose Camera Unit (MCU) fails often on these vehicles, causing these errors and the cruise control to stop working.
I have had a recurring problem for years that the dealership has been unable to resolve. Occasionally while we are at a stop, and the engine auto off system kicks in, and then I tried to go again, the car stalls completely. Battery tests fine. It does not restart until sometimes after I open and close my driver side door a couple of times which I assume reboots the electrical system in some manner. The car then starts up again and is okay. This is extremely dangerous as it happens in the middle of driving down the road, and the dealership has been unable to identify a solution or what the real problem is.
The automatic engine start stop when at a stop while driving creates dangerous conditions. The engine stalls during the re-start and it seems to pull the voltage all the way down to where every controller is dead and restarting. Cycling ignition switch while cluster is black or restarting or throwing up bunches of fault messages as traffic is now moving and you are still stopped. Sometimes this re-boot process can take around 30 seconds (guessing, I'm freaking out during those moments so time is tough but it feels like a LONG time). I have not had an accident yet but definitely some very scary moments with wife and kids in the vehicle. This auto stop feature can be disabled but requires you hit the button with each ignition cycle and I don't always remember to do that. The Honda Odyssey currently has 80,000 miles on it, we bought it new in 2019 and this has been happening since it was new. We have had this reviewed at two different dealerships; there seems to be a dismissive attitude by the service departments. They have replaced batteries and there was a software update in early 2024 but this issue is definitely still present.
I have had the trunk struts and power module replaced twice due to water leaks into the compute module of my trunk. It has cost me headaches and thousand of dollars to have it fixed. This issue should be recalled to fix and for a reseal of the trunk. My dash has a power lift gate error show up and will not open anymore. Also it will not stay open as well and slowly just close itself.
All warning lights turned on about 9. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on Took it to Honda they said there was no problem and they had not experienced this problem before. This is about the fourth time this happens now did my research and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues.
All the controls in my Van (cruise control, lane assist, auto break etc...) stopped working. I took the van multiple times and the reason they gave is its possible that the Camera stopped working. I replaced the front windshield with OEM through Insurance. I have a feeling this happened only after the repair. The issue goes away for some reason while driving and comes back again. So its not due to any Camera failures. This seems to be a problem for many Honda Odyssey
Water intrusion near rear tailgate control box. The circuit board was ruined by water and the automatic tailgate was at first malfunctioning and then would not function at all. The circuit board had to be replaced.
LKA; Collision Mitigation Problem; Auto High Beam; Road Departure Mitigation; Adaptive Cruise Control Dashboard has ALL of these lighting up. Dealer said it was a sensor issue. No accidents; well cared for vehicle just spontaneously started issuing these alerts each time the car starts and the duration of the drive. Due to all the warnings the driver isn’t able to see fuel range etc.
Leak in roof rail seam causes interior water leak and fried liftgate opener. Known issue manufacturer is not willing to address. Recent class action: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
At the grocery store and trunk would not close. Warning on the dash says “power tailgate problem”. Stranded my wife in the parking lot until she was able to get in touch with me to tell her she had to close it manually. It’s very hard to overcome the actuators manually if you’re a smaller statured person.
Rear power tailgate module fried due to moisture intrusion. Trunk will not close. Lock stuck in closed position.
I took my van to the dealer and they told me that the sensor inside of the front mirror is faulty, causing the following lights to continue to cycle if the car is on: Adaptive cruise control problem (ACC); Auto high-beam problem (A); Road departure mitigation system problem; collision mitigation system problem; lane keeping assist problem (LKAS); brake system lights. I am unable to engage or disengage any of these systems, including when I am driving. This seems to be a major security hazard and I am aware of others that have experienced this with this exact year, make and model (across different packages) of Honda minivan. I just wanted to report this in case this becomes a major concern for other consumers.
All safety lights are on on the dash. No cruise control. Brake system lane mitigation ,etc. been told it’s possibly camera issues quote from Honda dealer of 2200.00 to hopefully repair. 5 yr old vehicle and they want me to spend that. I can’t afford that.
Out of nowhere... a bunch of warnings lights have appeared and disabled a lot of the safety features on the vehicle. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem Lane Keeping Assist Problem Collision Mitigation System Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Auto High Beam Problem The car drives fine but the safety features do not work, along with the cruise control. This is a known issue for Honda and there needs to be a recall before someone get hurt!!!
All the advanced driver assistance system fails intermittently. This causes 5 different warnings to come on and all of the safety features to stop working. This is an ongoing issue that I had taken to the dealer for on numerous occasions with no remedy.
The power lift gate would not open with the button on the dash, the button on the door, or the button on the key fob. The only way I could open it was to crawl in the back of the van, remove the access panel for the lock mechanism, and use the lever to unlock the door. Upon troubleshooting the problem, it was determined that the power lift gate control module needed to be replaced. That fixed the issue, however Upon inspection on the old module, which is located inside the vehicle, behind the driver rear quarter interior panel, there was obvious signs the failure was due to severe water damage intrusion into the module.
My family and I had just gotten on the parkway and the car wouldn't downshift. I noticed the "Drive" light kept blinking and then the dashboard lit up with so many different warning messages. "Emmissions system problem" was the message that stayed on. All of a sudden the car started shifting on its own into neutral, while we were on the parkway. Thank goodness there was an exit approaching and we were able to get off before we were injured in an accident. I have been having battery issues ever since I got this car. Even when it was brand new, sometimes it just wouldn't start. If I wait a little bit, eventually it starts, but I have already had to replace a battery at 30,000 miles because of this. It has been happening again, but when I bring it to Honda and my mechanic, the battery is normal. After doing research, it appears there was a recall on the 2019 Honda Odyssey with an issue relating to the battery connection that causes that transmission to reboot while driving and shift on its own. Honda claims my car was not part of this recall, but this is exactly what happened to me, and I have a 2019 Odyssey. They have had my car for three weeks now and can't find answers to fix the problem. When I first brought the car in, they said the technician was finding "A LOT of stuff." Fast forward two weeks, and they called to say it's not happening anymore so they are ruling it an "intermittent issue" and to come get the car (not fixed). I told them I do not feel safe with my children in that car. I need answers. I contacted Honda Corporate who said that Honda told them the transmission fluid was the reason, and to start with that and see if it happens again. I asked them about that recall and they said "well your car doesn't come up with it." Is it just a coincidence that the same thing has been happening to my car? I asked if they were able to find out why the car doesn't start "intermittently" and they said, "no, it hasn't happened while here."
The Tailgate Control Module failed on three different occasion on my 2019 Honda Odyssey mini van causing the tailgate to fail to be opened by fob or manually. This was caused by water leaking through the roof rail where there was a failure by the manufacturer to properly seal the area between the roof and body.I have two of the failed TCMs in my possession. On 2 different occasions the tailgate flew opened as I was driving at approximately 55 mph.At that time the tailgate could not be closed entirely and caused my battery to run down entirely. The problem has been confirmed by the local Honda dealership and another independent service center.A warning and beeping noice came on as the first sign of the problem.I have photos of the crack and what was done to try to remediate the problem. This problem has been recognized and occurred to many other owners of 2018 - present day Honda Odyssey mini vans.
The radio stopped working when looked into online it’s a known issue with the cords behind the radio coming loose on its own causing the radio backup camera climate control everything that that console is used for stops working the screen is black and does not come on after checking fuses the radio console is still out. with the cords coming loose on its own when i have no access to them honda should be held responsible for this repair.
The following message suddenly appeared one day and since then, they kept coming back on every time starting the car: ACC problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Auto High Beam Problem, Brake Problem, and sometimes Transmission Problem as well. After research online, many other owners of the same vehicle had the same issue and which may be caused by faulty connector or faulty front camera component for the hardware issue; or software issue which was on the previous recall for the multi-media issue on the Odysseys. There is a HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 18-006 for the 2017-2018 CR-V models of the same issue/symptoms: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
the front facing multi purpose camera is defective with a replacement cost of $1800-$2000. it controls all the lane assist, cruise control, braking functions of the vehicle
It is very common problem with 2018-2023 honda odyssey. Water leaks inside from the seam crack under roof drip trim. This water is dripping right on the tailgate control electronic module. And module is short circuit and dead. Now tailgate is either stays locked or stays open all the time as the latch is not operating at all. This is safety issue as if tail gate is not latched properly it can be open while driving on the road. Also with water leaking inside in trunk area it's a issue with growing mold under the carpet. It shows error message on instrument panel about trouble with tailgate system.
My vehicle would say mitigation control system failure, and would flutter by turning off and back on and making the vehicle in operable for a few seconds while in motion. Also, would have a transmission gauge issue and would make the car inoperable, and wouldn’t move at all, would only turn on and would function like the radio, lights, etc.
The multipurpose camera in the front windshield has failed, causing the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and correction, forward collision to fail. Even the non-ACC cruise control is locked out due to the failed camera. Honda will charge ~ $1800 to replace, and I can’t afford that. Problem confirmed by Ian’s of Broken Arrow. They confirmed it was the camera and not the radar unit. The failure of the camera causes a host of persistent dashboard warnings, but none preceded the failure.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the driver's side rear sliding door failed to unlock while using the key fob, the door handle, or the door lock switch. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,418.

2019 Honda Odyssey recently started having these problems intermittently, about 50% of the time I start the car: ACC problem Collision Mitigation Problem Lake Keep Assist Problem Auto High Beam Problem It prevents the front collision mitigation from working.
A water leak has ruined TWO power liftgate control modules. The water leak probably comes from the roof or driver rear window welds. I replaced one module two months ago and the new one has also malfunctioned due to water intrusion. This causes the liftgate to be stuck open or closed and could potentially open when driving!
The issue I am experiencing is a power tailgate control module failure, specifically part# 74970-THR-A12. The part is located on the driver side rear, and the issue appears to be due to a water leak coming between body seams and slowly dripping down into the module. Over time the water damage seeps into the control module casing and causes corrosion on the circuit board. This, then, renders the power tailgate inoperable. In my case, it just suddenly stopped working. A couple weeks, while the tailgate still did not work, I did receive a message saying "tailgate open" while I was driving. But, that issue went away on its own, and the tailgate didn't appear to actually be open. It is unclear if this type of electrical failure could also cause a tailgate to open unexpectedly while driving. Looking up this issue online, it appears that many other Odyssey owners have experienced the exact same issue (water leak and corrosion on control module). This should be considered for a recall given that so many drivers have experienced the exact same issues under the exact same circumstances. It seems like the issue could be solved by simply determine where the leak is occurring from. While my Odyssey is still under an extended warranty, the dealer charges to perform a diagnostic do not make it worthwhile for me to have them determine if it is covered, and I will choose to replace the part on my own. Below I have attached 4 photos showing my specific circuit board with water damage, plus the area in which the control module sits in the car, where you can see rust due to water seepage. I also experienced rapid and sudden battery drain in the past, and others in the forums that experienced this tailgate issue have also noted that they believe it may be related. Even after I replace the part, I am afraid of the issue reoccurring and/or the water leaks creating additional electrical problems in the car.
The passenger sliding door does not open when it automatically opens. It doesn't matter which button you press to open the passenger sliding door, when it opens and slides back, it does not fully open and does not stay open. As it gets close to the rear, it makes the warning beeping sound then begins to close, causing it to be inoperable and not properly function as it's suppose to.
This vehicle has experienced random braking incidents while being operated on highways and other roads. Additionally, within a span of five years, two doors have malfunctioned, and the electrical system required replacement. These defects have jeopardized the safety of my family. The vehicle was purchased new at the time of acquisition. Please help.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated the vehicle hesitated to start and several attempts or a jumpstart was needed to start the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently. There were no warning lights. The dealer was contacted, and the battery was replaced twice for the failure to start; however, no part was not available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 62,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the tailgate will not open. Yes, I can have it inspected. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This limits the ability to use the tailgate. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have brought the car into the dealership to fix the tailgate. The motor was replaced and they stated they sealed the back to prevent water from getting in. It has since broken again and currently it will not open. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The first time it broke the dealership inspected and fixed the problem. It is now broken again and I haven't brought it into the dealership yet. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? I got a tailgate error multiple times, also the battery was draining really quickly - which I think was due to the trunk issue.
I'm experiencing several error messages on my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which include issues with the Brake System, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Auto High-Beam, Road Departure Mitigation System, Collision Mitigation System, and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). These warnings are not only persistent but raise significant safety concerns, especially during instances where sudden braking is necessary due to a vehicle abruptly cutting in front. The constant illumination of the Brake System lights is particularly alarming as it casts doubt on the reliability of the brakes in critical situations. It appears that these problems are not isolated, as other Honda owners have reported similar safety risks affecting both drivers and passengers.
Issue Fuel Pump Recall Report: My vehicle was identified as an affected vehicle of this recall. The designated honda service shop failed to share the recall details when the specified engine stall was reported to the dealership at check in. When the vehicle engine stopped prior to the incident automatic sliding doors also stopped working and one week prior to this the audio and electrical outage on the media console also went out. All of the cracking and sound issues including inability to connect a phone properly via Bluetooth (no handsfree capability) , the screen going black and or just blue without any display. Cruise control has never worked properly and fails to adjust speed or stop accelerating so basically has never been operable. Dealership and Honda recall campaign has failed its clients tremendously on this one. I have zero trust in them or their interest to do the right thing. The safety concern remains: no reliability on speed acceleration on cruise control capabilities, no reliability on reverse cam or view quality, automatic door malfunction not sensing obstruction within a safe time to avoid impact, failure to avoid on coming traffic if the vehicle stalls in the way of high speed traffic or in route on freeway. Safety issue: the failed communication of the recall never ever shared by the dealership while vehicle was brought in for oil changes with diligence. Failure by the dealership to note the explained concerns as part of the nationally acclaimed recall (not in compliance). The dealership not seeing the direct safety obstruction of my (the drivers safety) and passenger safety (minor children) is subject to harm "DAILY" on account of the manufactured malfunctional processes.
The vehicle's tailgate stopped working and a series of distracting alerts repeatedly popped up on the instrument panel. Upon inspection, the liftgate control module had a significant amount of corrosion on the pins and on the circuit board itself, despite the surrounding area seeming dry. Replacement of the control module did not completely fix the problem because the connector pins are corroded and dirty.
Received several error messages with collision avoidance, braking, lane keeping, front collision avoidance. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. I had code DTC U3000-49 multipurpose camera unit/ millimeter wave radar internal failure. They could not explain why it would come back on and work for a while and indicated both systems have to be replaced because of their software. I took the vehicle to dealership two months earlier for loss of acceleration and engine not accelerating when pressing pedal. Alternator replace. Upon searching the internet, this seems to be a common issue with the Odyssey dating as far back as 5 years. My errors are the following: -ACC issue -LKAS issue -collision mitigation system -auto high beam problem. I am beyond frustrated because these are all safety related systems. A close friend and master mechanic believes that it is an electrical/ software and not a component issue since the components seem to be functioning at times. I am not sure why all of these systems are failing at once.
Rear tailgate will occasionally pop open while driving for no reason. Often times when parked rear tailgate latch will not open it. Takes several attempts to get it open, sometimes have to open another door to get it to work.
My Honda odyssey 2019 started with issues turning all bunch of light in the dash, the brake system light, the road departure mitigation system light, keyless remote not working properly had to press 2 times to turn on or off, battery will drain and not work properly. The keyless fob will not unlock the car, the back sliding doors would not open at all. My car left me 2 times and I had to call geico for road assistance. I took it to the closest dealer to get it checked they tought it was the battery so we had warranty on it and they replaced it. They tought the problem was fix but again all lights came back again. This happened 3 times in the nissan dealer. This past month and a half I have being dealing with my vehicle. So this weekend we decided to take it to the Honda dealer that's 1hr away from my home, with all the lights on again, scare that she would turn off on the highway. No turn light signals working, no hazard lights working either. Finally today I got an answer from the dealer they said that the cars tailgate left side factory seal, that's like a rubber its falling off little by little and it messed up the computer that's next to the back left panel of the driver side. They say that this is wear but I have heard of too many vehicles being damage on the same spot and it starts with the tailgate. They want to charge me $673.89 to replace the tailgate control unit and that if that didn't fix the problem that I had to rewired the vehicle again and that was going to be be $4790.78. I would love to see Honda to do a recall on this, this is something that has to do with factory issue,I don't think owners should pay for something wrong they are doing while building this mini vans. I have warranty on the vehicle and they are saying that would not cover the repair because its a water damage. This keeps happening to almost all the Honda mini vans. Pls do the search and you will see many people complaining about it. Thank you!
Sudden Loss of Acceleration/Unpredictable Acceleration: Pressed accelerator to enter highway from rolling stop going around 10-20mph. ZF 9-Speed transmission hesitated, attempted to downshift & vehicle suddenly lost transmission & possibly went into neutral and/or transmission failed on highway. Dashboard indicated Emissions System Problem" & "Transmission Problem" Vehicle would not shift back into gear & vehicle was subsequently towed. Prior to this event, vehicle had occasional 0.5 - 2 second hesitations when downshifting & exhibited rare occasional metal clanking sounds when downshifting beginning around 70,000 miles. Additionally. transmission had unpredictable significantly delayed shifts that resulted in subsequent surges of power that were enough to screech the tires on acceleration.
All safety systems which I had come to rely on failed all at once. Honda claims it’s the multi function camera that just randomly went bad. This affects safe driving. Condition Is ongoing
In early December 2023, while driving, I experienced a sudden malfunction in my LKAS system, receiving a notification that it had stopped working without any prior indications. In response, I promptly pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and restarted it, hoping to clear any error messages. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. Subsequently, I took my vehicle to the Honda service center, where I was informed that the front camera was malfunctioning, triggering multiple error messages such as collision system problems, auto high beam issues, and adaptive cruise control malfunctions—all of which rendered these safety features inoperable. The service center clarified that, while it was deemed safe to drive the vehicle, the automatic braking system and front camera features were unavailable, and any necessary repairs would be at my expense. The paperwork provided indicated the discovery of DTC U3000-49, citing a multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure. Additionally, beyond the LKAS system issue, I have repeatedly encountered difficulties with my vehicle's acceleration. Notably, there is a struggle to accelerate from a complete stop, and a significant delay in acceleration occurs when removing my foot from the gas pedal, especially in the middle of intersections. This delay has resulted in near collisions, with other vehicles honking and, at times, coming dangerously close to colliding with my vehicle. Despite reporting this ongoing acceleration problem to the dealer multiple times, the issue persists and has worsened over time. This comprehensive incident report aims to document and address the technical malfunctions in my vehicle, emphasizing the urgent need for a thorough examination and resolution of these safety concerns.
Over the years of owning this vehicle, we've encountered sporadic electrical problems that have led to the car either stalling or needing a jump start. Despite these issues, inspections of the battery have revealed no obvious problems. Additionally, we've had intermittent system warning messages for features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure. These warnings have surfaced and vanished on multiple occasions. The vehicle has never been in an accident or experienced anything beyond normal operating conditions.
A faulty body seam seal allowed rain to enter the body of the vehicle and infiltrate the power tailgate control module. On my vehicle, this produced the error message "Tailgate Problem". The tailgate would fail to open, open part way and then close, or attempt to open at random. There have been reports of tailgates opening while driving as a result of this problem. My dealer replaced the tailgate module and re-sealed the body seam where water was entering. This seam is where the top and side panels of the vehicle join near the driver's side tailgate hinge. This is a manufacturing defect in the body seam seal that is allowing this to happen. The problem has been extensively documented by vehicle owners at [XXX] This unsafe driving condition should be subject to a recall to prevent anyone's tailgate from opening unexpectedly while operating the vehicle, creating a hazardous condition for occupants or for other motorists who might be affected by items falling out of the rear tailgate. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Power tailgate began to malfunction first by opening slowly or not opening at all. Once open, would not close automatically. Would require a lot of manual force. Then, a "Power Tailgate Problem" error began to show on the dashboard. We took it to our local mechanic within about a week's time. They found the following 9 electrical codes: Power Tailgate Control Unit Internal Error Power Tailgate Right Touch / Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Left Touch / Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction Tailgate Closer Unit Half Latch Switch Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Sensor Pulse "A" Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Sensor Pulse "B" Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Drive Motor Circuit Malfunction Left Power Sliding Door Touch / Pinch Sensor Signal Error Left Power Sliding Door Touch / Pinch Sensor Signal Error They then found that the water was on/in the Power Liftgate Control Unit stemming from a leak somewhere in the body, probably around the D pillar. The Power Liftgate Control Unit will be replaced. The local mechanic recommended contacting Honda or a body shop to find the location where the water is entering the car.
Trunk is not properly sealed resulting in water getting into the trunk and corroding the tailgate control unit, this issue has been reported online hundreds of times. A week after my trunk flooded during heavy rain my car warning lights for the brake system, lane keep assist and several others lit up and wont work, the lights turn on and off intermittently - again this issue is being reported online by multiple owners. This is a known issue Honda refuses to acknowledge or resolve.
Warning lights started being displayed stating that multiple vehicular functions were not working. (Vsa stability, emissions system, brake system, brake hold system, power steering problem) Upon inspection at the dealership I was told it was a fuel injector problem and it was not covered under the recall. The fuel injector is currently on back order and I have been waiting several weeks for a part. The estimate that was given to me was around $1200. I believe this should be covered by Honda
Power tailgate problem repeatedly flashed on dashboard but would disappear before it was legible and the car was beeping while driving. We stopped and tried to see what the problem was but it wasn’t until we finally arrived home that it finally showed the full error on the screen. Apparently this drained the battery as well and we had to call AAA the following day to start the vehicle. They tested the battery which was only 2 years old (OEM battery died after only 2 years) and said it was fine. Drive around for 40 minutes and the next day it was dead again. Had it towed to the dealer who after much discussion agreed to replace the battery even though I read online about people having issues with water leaking onto the power tailgate module. The dealer told Me they had to replace the battery instead and the next day called to say that I was right, the battery replacement didn’t solve it. And when they looked at the power tail get module it was indeed corroded from moisture. But they wanted an additional $500 so they could subcontract to an “expert” who could seal that leak. I told them to only replace the module and asked why a recall hadn’t been issued. They said this was beyond their pay grade. I told them I’ll find a way to seal it myself.
On January 2, 2024 I was driving down the interstate the whole dash board electrical system went out and quit working. After a period of time it came back on. Started down the interstate again went out a second time. Afraid to drive it anywhere. Taking it to Lees Summit Honda in Lees Summit MO for them to check it. Thank goodness it was day light. I was really scared and almost wrecked the vehicle. I had my mother and my two young boys in the car.I also looked to see if there were any recalls and there were none.
Rear lift gate ceased operating, unlocking or opening. Later received errors on dash for blind spot malfunction and transmission error. Dealer says it is an issue with water leaking into the rear chassis getting into the exposed electronics.
My power tailgate control unit is fried due to a leak in rear driver side.
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the significant reliability issues I have encountered with my 2019 Honda Odyssey. Unfortunately, these issues have led to inconveniences, unexpected expenses, and a reevaluation of my trust in the vehicle's long-term dependability. During the warranty period, the vehicle suffered from water infiltration in the trunk, resulting in flooding. Addressing this problem required multiple interventions by the dealership. Post-warranty, an electrical/electronic component related to the liftgate module malfunctioned, leading to an unforeseen repair that cost upwards of $800+. Subsequently, the vehicle experienced recurring starting problems, necessitating jump-starts on multiple occasions. Most recently, a complete failure to start occurred, requiring towing to the dealership, which unfortunately happened while away from home. Extensive diagnostics revealed the necessity to reprogram the BCM (Body Control Module) to resolve the issue. The repetitive and varied nature of these issues, especially for a four-year-old vehicle, raises concerns about the reliability and quality standards associated with the Honda Odyssey. These recurring inconveniences and unexpected expenses have compelled me to reconsider recommending this vehicle to friends and family. Of particular concern is the possibility of experiencing a breakdown in remote areas during extended trips. The prospect of being stranded with my family in such situations is troubling and potentially unsafe. Urgent attention to resolving these issues is crucial to avoid any untoward incidents for myself or other Odyssey owners. While I have raised my concerns with Honda, I am also contemplating sharing this experience with the NHTSA. The uncertainty surrounding potential future issues while driving has led me to consider selling this vehicle. I believe it's essential to document these concerns for the safety and awareness of others who might face similar situations.
airbag system (SRS) problem
Driving down the road and vehicle suddenly switches out of gear into neutral. Very dangerous situation. Another time we’re driving at 45mph and the vehicle suddenly starts flashing 3 error codes and decelerating. We have to continue to drive 45 mph with the car sounding terrible all the way home. Once home the vehicle somehow resets itself and all of the flashing lights turn off.
multiple random times lifting foot from brake at intersection car lunges then completely dies. Car is stuck in street and battery light is on. Battery needs to be jumped to get working, battery and alternator test fine, replaced battery with agm battery three months ago and same thing happened today. Luckily tire store was at the intersection and they were able to jump it to get it going, they tested everything and no issues, they had no idea why it would happen.
rear tailgate seal failure 2019 honda odyssey allowing water intrusion and corrosion of lift gate control module, per ft lauderdale honda dealer. Not a safety issue but a design defect per other honda owners.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the automatic headlights warning light, the brake warning light, the adaptive cruise control warning light, the lane mitigation warning light, and collision mitigation warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the cause of the failure could be determined. The contact stated that the technician reset the warning lights; however, the failure recurred. The contact concerned that while driving the vehicle a failure might occur regarding the safety of the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
Mileage: 149,000
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that a message indicating the power liftgate failure was displayed, and 2-3 days later, the power liftgate failed to open as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that water intrusion in the power liftgate control module had caused the liftgate to fail to operate as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,700.

Power lift gate control module has shorted out due to water leak somewhere on my van. Board has visible water damage. Tailgate won’t open or shut at all. Has to be done manually from inside the vehicle through trim opening on rear tailgate.
Passenger sliding door automatically closes intermittently while opening has been an ongoing issue at one point closed on my youngest daughters leg smashing between door and door jam. Understanding it opening while closing because something was in its path but not closing during the point operation. This is been reported to the dealership many times also gave them a video of it happening, told if we don’t see it we can’t fix it.
5 warning lights including automatic headlights, breaks, adaptive cruise control, lane mitigation, and collision mitigation warning lights are on
We bought the van used. We were on a road trip and the speakers started crackling and popping. Also the audio will just cut off completely and can be fixed by turning off the power to the audio and turning it back on quick. It will work for a little bit but will cut out again. We tried different devices and different cords for the problem but it hasn't fixed the issue.
The rear power lift gage has stopped working due to leaking in the rear of the van. Per online threads, this is a common issue and should be a recall as so many issues have happened to other with this same problem.
Noticed that a check brake system light came on briefly and then when I stopped at a traffic light, the engine shut down as it is supposed to, but when I lifted my foot off the brake, the car didn't restart and I was stranded in the lane (busy road). Pressed the Engine button, but it wouldn't restart. After about 5 minutes (while I called AAA) I tried again and it restarted. Very dangerous - I see multiple other people had the same experience. AAA came to my house and the battery, alternator, and starter all tested good.
The dealership discovered a short in the electrical harness tha controlled the radio and navagation system. I was concerned about a fire. Obviously a problem from installation. This problem cost me over $2200 to replace the hardness. I purchaced the van with the problem over a month ago.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while in Eco Mode, the vehicle hesitated without warning while accelerating from a complete stop. The contact notified dealer of the failure and informed him that there was a failure with the software; however, there was no repair for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The car shuts off when stopped at intersections. We have taken the car to Honda several times and they have been unable to find any problem with it. The message we get is "The system has lost power. Push and hold the power button for more than two seconds to enable the system."
When stopping at an intersection multiple times the idle stop turns the car off and the vehicle refuses to start again and all electronics stop working until the vehicle is turned off completely and the driver door is opened. Does not happen all the time so can't consistently reproduce to have a service center confirm. Vehicle has been inspected during other recall repairs and I was told the repairs being done would not fix that issue.
The auto engine stop feature left me stranded when the engine died. I pulled up to a traffic light and the engine cut off and wouldn’t start automatically when I let my foot off the brake. Also wouldn’t start when I tried manually starting it. Had battery and alternator tested. Both tested fine. Car finally started later. Seems to be ok if you disable the auto shut off function.
Three months into purchasing a brand new 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L my car would not start. I was told my battery was drained/bad cell, due to the weather being too cold and all the electrical components of my vehicle. We lived in South Georgia and my van is kept in a garage. I was given a new battery at the beginning of 2019 and now in 2022 I’m told I need another AGM battery because mine is dead. I’m told by the dealership they can’t diagnose the problem exactly, but they are 75% sure this is the issue causing my van not to start, unable to be jump started, code P0600, warning lights stating emissions system problems, break system failure, anti-lock break system failure. Outside of Honda I’m told something is draining my battery, but Honda takes no responsibility and it’s out of pocket for a new $240 battery, which may or may not be the issue. Looking online at customer reviews, I’m not the only person with this issue. MANY MANY MANY Honda Odyssey owners have complained of the same issues and nothing has been done by Honda. My vehicle slammed on breaks driving down the interstate at over 70 MPH while my family was in the car. My doors stop closing if I start the car while the doors are mid-close, it will tell me to apply break while shifting to park even when the break is applied. There is an electrical issue within the Odyssey that needs to be addressed and recalled. These vehicles are too expensive to be malfunctioning and needing replacement parts after 3-4 years. I drove my Toyota to over 350,000 miles and never changed a battery.
This has happened twice so far. Car has been driven for awhile, come to a stoplight, auto idle engine kicks in and car shuts down. Car display says press brakes and hit starter to turn car back on. I am essentially stopped at a light unable to move. I am on my 3rd battery for my 2019 Odyssey. I have taken to dealership for diagnostic and they're unable to replicate.
The sensor on the passenger sliding door failed to work when the engine was on. Once the engine was off, the sliding door would close. The problem was reproduced by a Honda dealer service and while they were checking with the extended warranty to see if the sensor would be paid for, they let me take the van home for regular use. The next day, the door would not close with or without the engine on. We were not home and we could not leave the van in the parking lot or drive home with the door open, with our two young boys in the middle row in their carseats. My husband stood outside with the van for about 15 minutes until the door finally closed and the rear passenger window shattered. The safety of our family was put at risk due to the loose glass shards and due to the fact that the door was no longer functional. The vehicle was inspected by an agent from Louisiana Dealer Services today and they deemed that the broken window and track are due to damage and will not be covered under the extended warranty. There were no warning signs of a broken sensor before, during or after this incident.
When I come to a complete stop and the start/stop motor goes into idle mode (shuts the engine down), I have a problem that occurs after it. It is unpredictable but when I come out of the idle and the engine is supposed to kick back on, my minivan stalls out. This has happened in heavy traffic areas and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to get the van to turn back on as the electrical system malfunctions. Big safety issue that can be scary in the moment. There are error messages that come up on the dash including "Collision Mitigation System Problem", "Brake System", and the center console system will restart. This problem doesn't happen when I disable the start/stop motor as it doesn't go into idle-stop mode. I have read through online forums recently and it appears this issue has happened in other Honda models dating back to 2016 models. This is clearly an issue across years/models and needs to be addressed. The local Honda dealership said they haven't heard of this problem and couldn't replicate. Therefore, there was no repair provided.
The passenger side, rear sliding door does not engage in the locking mechanism. It intermittently lacks securely latching. In looking into the door, it appears that the actuator is not engaging properly. Upon researching this for a few minutes, I do see that there were recalls on 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys (as well as other models of Hondas). My car is a 2019 Odyssey. I have called Honda about this issue and they do not acknowledge this recall in regards to my VIN. Service Bulletin 18-128 in Nov. 2018 I do not understand the method used to determine which cars are impacted by the recall, or rather how mine is not (yet) included when I clearly have a faulty door latch which can potentially harm my children and other passengers. The door has automatically reversed from opening to closing halfway through and has come very close to hurting my daughter. Please get me a recall notice/repair notice (online would be fine!) asap so that I can get this taken care of immediately. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2018/RCRIT-18V795-2903.pdf Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
passenger side slide door unable to open. i have older people to transport and becomes highly issue to move them to other side and get out of the vehicle. dealer charged for the issue and just manually reset coulple of days back and again it started coming. kindly address the issue.
Six months or more ago, my van started acting as though it is stuck in a gear before it finally shifts to the next gear. At first is happened every once in a while, but it now happens several times every trip and always at speeds between 25-40mph. Additionally, when I press down on the gas pedal, there sometimes tends to be a delay in it responding, so I've been very careful about pulling out in traffic. But recently, it seems to be happening while the van is already in motion. And, just yesterday, when accelerating from a stop, the car lurched forward and the wheels screeched. Regarding electrical issues, just this past December, we were driving home from vacation, and as we were passing through downtown Nashville, the car suddenly lost all electrical power. As the car began to slow, my husband pumped the gas as we were on an interstate junction and had no other alternative. Thankfully, after a 10-15 seconds, everything turned back on and we continued to our way. I've owned the van since Oct 2020 and it only has 57K miles on it. We've had several Hondas over the past 25 years (this is our 3rd Odyssey), and have loved them all. But, I'm very concerned about safety as well as the money spent.
I was driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey on the highway and it stopped suddenly in the middle of the highway. The car went to idle mode and changed itself to park gear. We had to off the car and restart it which was dangerous in the middle of the highway. This same incident happened earlier too but in a residential street. We took it to the dealership but they said they couldn’t find anything wrong. Then I heard the news story about nhtsa investigation into this problem with Honda and wanted to report my experience. This is dangerous and they need to figure out what is going on.
Driving 60mph on the highway, everything electrical shut off and on several times. The dash screen, the touch screen, the AC, the lights. I immediately took an exit and got off, and when the rebooting stopped I was going about 30mph and the car shifted by itself into park. Then there was a horrible grinding sound of metal on metal...I hit the brakes to pull off the road the car got under 20mph and stopped instantaneously. I had the car towed to my local Honda dealership and they said they cannot replicate the issue, nor see any error codes. They will not take apart anything to check for damage to the parking rod because there were no error codes...And they want me to pick up the vehicle today.
Our car has failed to start 3 times in one week. Our battery has been throughly inspected and nothing appears to be wrong with it. We have jump-started our car in July, and twice this week. (Once yesterday and once today.) We are not sure why this is the case.
THERE ARE 2 ISSUES, POSSIBLY RELATED. FIRST OF ALL, WARNING FOR COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM APPEARED AND THEN THE DIGITAL DISPLAY WENT BLANK.THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. IN THE SECOND PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED, A WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF (TOO QUICKLY TO DETERMINE WHAT IT SAID) AND THEN THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION IN BOTH OCCURRENCES.
INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM SCREEN BECOMES DEAD WHILE DRIVING. SINCE THEN, IT DOES NOT COME BACK EVEN AFTER RESTARTING A CAR.

MY CHILDREN AND I ARE WHERE ON OUR WAY HOME ON THE THE HIGHWAY, WHEN OUR ODESSY VAN SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AS I WAS DRIVING(65 SPEED LIMIT). IT WENT FROM DRIVING TO GOING TO PARK AND SHUTTING DOWN, EVERYTHING WAS FLICKERING AND IT WOULDN'T TURN ON AND WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO TURN ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS. I GET PUSHING THE STAR BUTTON AND IT WOULDN'T TURN ON UNTIL A FEW MINUTES LATER, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AND HORRIBLY AS I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
DVD PLAYER WILL NOT PLAY MOVIES. DVD PLAYER GETS EXTREMELY HOT. AUDIO THROUGHOUT ENTIRE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES A CONSTANT SNAPPING/CRACKLE NOISE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR STATIONARY. DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. PROBABLY DUE TO A PINCHED WIRE IN A HARNESS NEAR INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM. REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN OVER 35,000 MILES. SPENT $40,000 FOR A NEW VAN AND WITHIN FIRST YEAR WE NEED TO SPEND OUR MONEY TO REPAIR THEIR MISTAKE. SHAMEFUL.
Mileage: 35,000
THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START AND A KEYLESS START PROBLEM MESSAGE APPEARED.
Mileage: 50,000
A WARNING FOR COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM APPEARED AND THEN THE DIGITAL DISPLAY WENT BLANK. PREVIOUSLY HAS HAPPENED, AND AT THAT TIME WE ALSO LOST OUR POWER STEERING.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, THE HEAD UNIT MALFUNCTIONS AND STAYS ON, ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING USED FOR APPLE CAR PLAY. IT HAS LEFT US STRANDED AND HAD TO BE TOWED ONCE, TWO OTHER TIMES, JUMPED AS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE TRANSMISSION HAS ISSUES. BETWEEN 20-30 MPH, THE VEHICLE DISENGAGES WITH THE TRANSMISSION, LOSES POWER, THEN 'CLUNKS' BACK INTO GEAR. IT MAKES THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS UNSTEADY, AND CAUSES UNANTICIPATED SLOW DOWNS AND SPEED UPS. ADULT PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE HAVE YELLED OUT IN CONFUSION OVER THE LOSS OF POWER AND SPEED. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, IT SOMETIMES HESITATED TO GO INTO FIRST GEAR, AND THEN 'CLUNKS' INTO FIRST, EXPERIENCED AS A 'NEUTRAL DROP' AS IF ONE IS DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. OVERALL, THE TRANSMISSION IS CLUNKY, AND LEADS TO UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENTS, UNSTEADY FEEDBACK, AND EXTREME DISCOMFORT AND WORRY.
Mileage: 8,000
WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY THE SPEEDOMETER AND CENTER INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM CRASHED, WENT BLACK, AND BEGAN TO RESTART SHORTLY AFTER. WHILE REBOOTING THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THE GEAR CHANGING. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, AND HAD TO BE TOWED PER THE DEALERS RECOMMENDATION FOR SAFETY.
Mileage: 11,244
BRAKES: SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION AT 20K MILES. ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A STEEP DECLINE. ELECTRICAL: INFOTAINMENT UNIT SHOWS NO AUDIO AVAILABLE AT RANDOM TIMES. TICKING OR "SLEET HITTING THE WINDOW" SOUND FROM DASH SPEAKERS. THIS IS VERY INTERMITTENT AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. SEEMS TO COME AND GO.
Mileage: 45,000
WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE PICTURE FROM THE BACKUP CAMERA FROZE AND WENT BLANK. THIS HAS CAUSED A LIGHT ACCIDENT WITH BUMPER DAMAGE. BASED ON THE ACTIVE RECALLS, THIS ACCIDENT MAY HAVE HAPPENED TO TO A KNOWN DEFECT.
Mileage: 15,000
THE VEHICLE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM CRASHED EVEN AFTER THE SAFETY RECALL. THIS MADE THE SPEEDOMETER GO OUT FOR A SHORT TIME, AND COMPLETELY DISABLE THE RADIO, REAR CAMERA, RES, AND MOST USER CONTROLS. THE SYSTEM ADDITIONALLY STAYED ON AFTER THE CAR WAS POWERED OFF, AND WOULD ONLY TURN OFF BY PULLING THE FUSE!
Mileage: 11,244
THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM STARTED GOING BAD AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE WITHIN 2 WEEKS. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE RADIO WENT OUT WITH A STATIC SOUND AND COMPLETE SYSTEM BLACKED OUT WITH "NETWORK COMMUNICATION ERROR" AND RESTARTED WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION AND THIS STARTED REPEATING ON THE DRIVE.I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REROUTING THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS. IT WORKED GOOD FOR ANOTHER TWO DAYS IT STARTED GETTING THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES AND THE WHOLE INFO SCREEN WENT OUT FOR MINUTES AT A TIME.I HEAR STATIC SOUNDS AND GET MESSAGES SAYING RADIO OUT AND NETWORK PROBLEMS.HONDA MENTIONED IT HAD FIXED THE ERROR AS PART OF THE RECALLS RELEASED RECENTLY AND HAD THE RECALLS DONE AND THE ISSUE BECOME MORE FREQUENT AND WORSE, THE SYSTEM GETS RESTARTED EVERY FEW MINS. AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS TO THE DEALER I DO NOT HAVE ANY SUCCESS. A CLEAR SIGN THAT HONDA HAS NO CLUE HOW TO PROPERLY AND PERMANENTLY REPAIR THE SYSTEM.
Mileage: 400
MY NEW 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A VERY DISTINCTIVE ELECTRICAL STATIC/CRACKLING/HISSING NOISE COMING FROM DASHBOARD WHEN DRIVING OR IDLING THAT DOESN'T SOUND NORMAL BUT VERY CONCERNING. WILL TAKE TO DEALER BUT DON'T EXPECT MUCH SINCE I'VE READ AND RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITHOUT ANY ACTIONS FROM DEALERSHIPS. DOES NHTSA HAVE ANY ADVICE OR KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT STATED SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER CRUISED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER HERITAGE HONDA BEL AIR LOCATED AT 1800 BELAIR RD SUITE A, FALLSTON, MD 21047, (410) 343-5644, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE BATTERY TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, SHE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE 45 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,566.

ON THE GAUGE CLUSTER THE VEHICLE NORMALLY TELLS ME WHAT GEAR I AM IN SUCH AS D FOR DRIVE. SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT SHOW IT AND OTHER TIMES IT WORKS FINE. THE ODYSSEY HAS A PUSH BUTTON TRANSMISSION AND IT IS EASY TO GET CONFUSED SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF THE VAN AND FORGOT IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE ONCE.

HI THERE- I AM CURRENTLY LIVE IN NC. I HAVE ISSUE WITH MY HONDA ODDYSEY. I SEEN THAT YOU HAD FILED CASE WITH AMERICAN HONDA WITH ISSUES I AM HAVING CURRENTLY. I HAVE CASE WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND EVERYTHING REPORTED WITH THEM ( ALL ISSUES I AM HAVING) ADDITIONAL ISSUE WITH MY 2019 ODYSSEY STARTED SHUTTING DOWN DIGITAL ODOMETER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGH WAY. ITS TOTALLY UNSAFE AND I HAVE 3 LITTLE KIDS PUTTING ALL THIS STRESS ON ALL OF THEM. CAN YOU PLEASE RESPOND TO ME MAYBE LITTLE HEADS UP WHAT CAN I DO AT THIS POINT? LOCAL HONDA DEALER TRIED FIXING 6 TIMES- WITH NO SOLUTION, TOLD ME TO GO TO AMERICAN HONDA- AMERICAN HONDA CAME BACK SAID WE WONT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT FOR YOU. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME AND MY FAMILY?

THE RADIO AND COMPUTER SYSTEM CRACKLES MAKE LOUD NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE WIRING RUBBING TOGETHER, COMPUTER SCREEN SHUTS OFF AND RESETS AND YOU LOSE FUNCTIONALITY OF YOUR SYSTEM THAT IS CONNECTED TO RADIO, PHONES AND MAPS. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE CAN BE MOTION OR STATIONARY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AND THE ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HARE HONDA - SERVICE DEPARTMENT (8693 US-36, AVON, IN 46123, (317) 854-4791) WHERE AN UNKNOWN WIRING HARNESS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS THEN INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V066000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND WORSENED. A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER ON BEHALF OF THE CONTACT AND REQUESTED THAT A TECHNICIAN BE SENT TO INSPECT AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BY THE DEALER OF THE ADDITIONAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,498.

THE CENTER MOUNTED INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WHICH HOUSES THE MONITOR FOR THE BACKUP CAMERA FREEZES UP AND GOES BLANK CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT OF THE CAMERON GULBRASEN KIDS TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ACT OF 2007 AND BECAME A MANDATE IN MAY 2018. THIS VEHICLE IS AT RISK AND NONCOMPLIANT WITH THIS ACT. I HAVE NOTIFIED BOTH AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AN THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND ARE MAKING NO EFFORT TO REPLACE OR CORRECT THE ISSUE. IT IS VERY DISTURBING THAT HONDA DOES NOT VALUE THE LIVES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THAT THEY ARE BEING ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO BUILD VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME CONDITION, UNKNOWN WHAT THE FIX IS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEED TO BE CORRECTED ASAP. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEMS ALSO FREEZES AND PREVENTS CONTROLS OF THE HVAC AND DVD PLAYER. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF THESE ISSUES BECAUSE IT HAPPENS SO FREQUENTLY.

A BRAND NEW 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY EX WITH 80 MILES ON IT, STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH VEHICLE'S CENTRAL DISPLAY. MESSAGE NETWORK COMMUNICATION LOST , EVEN ON SLIGHT MOVES WHILE THE CAR IS ON SMOOTH FREEWAYS. RADIO CLICKING STATIC NOISE. DISPLAY UNIT TURNS OFF AND ON SPORADICALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IN MOTION OR EVEN SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED FROM PARKING LOT. VEHICLE DISPLAY GOES BLANK COMPLETELY. CUTS OFF BACK UP CAMERA, NO RADIO, NO BLUETOOTH, NO APPS. AS MOST OF FUNCTIONS ARE CONTROLLED WITH TOUCH SCREEN FEEL LIKE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. DEALER TRIED TO FIX IT 2 TIMES BUT NOW THEY BLAME HONDA DOES NOT A SOLUTION YET. RAISED A CASE (10281802) WITH HONDA CORPORATE BUT HONDA REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE PROBLEM AND REFUSED TO GIVE A LOANER CAR AND SAID ITS UP TO TO DEALER TO GIVE A LOANER AS A COURTESY. I FEEL LIKE I WAS SOLD A LEMON. BOTH HONDA CORPORATE AND HONDA DEALER IS NOT TO HELP ME. DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THE CENTRAL DISPLAY UNIT WHICH SO CRITICAL TO THE VEHICLE'S FUNCTION. WORST PART IS RADIO CLICKING STATIC NOISE CANNOT BE CONTROLLED AS THE DISPLAY IS BLANK. ALL THE ABOVE MAKES ME FRUSTRATED THAT IT HAPPENS ON A NEW CAR AND NO ONE IS HELPING ME.
Mileage: 80
VAN HAS SHUT OFF WHILE BEING DRIVEN, TRANSMISSION JUMPS CONSTANTLY AT 24 MPH, RADIO GOES IN AND OUT CONSTANTLY- HAVE NO AUDIO 90% OF THE TIME, NAVIGATION RARELY WORKS, CAR PLAY RARELY WORKS, BLUETOOTH DROPS PHONE CONNECTION CONSISTENTLY, HAVE HAD REAR CAMERA FREEZE MULTIPLE TIMES
Mileage: 6,000
THE NAVIGATION SCREEN STAYS BLACK. NO BACKUP CAMERA, CAN'T CHANGE THE RADIO, USE THE PHONE OR CHANGE AIR FLOW OR GET DIRECTIONS FROM THE SCREEN. SOME DAYS IT DOESN'T COME ON AT ALL, OTHERS IT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. YOU NEVER KNOW, VERY FRUSTRATING. I FEEL LUCKY IF IT COMES ON WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN A BRAND NEW VEHICLE.
Mileage: 6,000
2/5/2020 I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH MODERATE TRAFFIC, WHEN THE MAIN DISPLAY SCREEN IN MY MINIVAN STARTED FLASHING ERROR MESSAGES. THE RADIO DISPLAY SCREEN WAS ACTING WACKY ALSO. THE VAN STARTED MAKING A LOUD RAPID 'CLICK.CLICK.CLICK." TYPE NOISE. I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING, WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE DISPLAY SAID "P" FOR PARK. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO MERGE OUT OF TRAFFIC. IT HAPPENED SO FAST AND WAS SO STARTLING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND MOVE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOP THE VAN. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT DROVE NORMALLY. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY MOVED THE TOLL TAG STICKER ON THE WINDSHIELD AND SAID IT WAS INTERFERING WITH THE SENSORS. 2/6/2020 I WAS TOO SCARED TO DRIVE IT, SO MY HUSBAND DROVE IT. HE WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP NOW SAYS IT IS LOOSE CONNECTIONS AT THE BATTERY. THE NOISE IT MADE WAS HORRIBLE AND I'M CONCERNED THAT THERE IS PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VAN HAS JUST OVER 5,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2019
Mileage: 5,000
INITIALLY THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING, IT WAS NOT THE IDLE STOP SINCE IT IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE DRIVING. THE DEALER EVENTUALLY SAID IT WAS THE BATTERY. THEN THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING, THE RADIO WAS REPLACED AFTER A WEEK OF BEING AT THE DEALER. NOW 3 WEEKS AFTER REPAIR, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. HAS A NOISE THAT COMES OUT OF THE SPEAKERS LIKE SPARKS, HAS A CHEMICAL SMELL, NO RES USAGE, NO CABIN WATCH OR CABIN TALK. EVERYTHING THAT MADE THE ELITE TRIM DESIRED DOES NOT WORK.
Mileage: 16,000
OUR 2019 ODYSSEY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS SHORTLY AFTER WE GOT IT. I TRIED TROUBLE SHOOTING MYSELF FOR AWHILE. FINALLY STARTED TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNING IT AND IT'S BEEN THERE MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, BLUETOOTH DOESN'T WORK, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. NOBODY CAN HEAR ME WHEN I TALK TO THEM THROUGH THE BLUE TOOTH OR APPLE CAR PLAY. THE POPPING IN THE DASH BOARD IS AWFUL AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE VAN IS GOING TO CATCH FIRE AT ANY MOMENT. THEY HAVE DONE A DASH HARNESS AND FULL BODY HARNESS ON OUR VAN WITH NO SUCCESS. THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING AND THE POPPING IS WHEN THE INFOTAINMENT/RADIO/MUSIC IS PLAYING OR NOT PLAYING. IT'S A SERIOUS HAZARD.
Mileage: 6,000
SUPPER LOUD STATIC NOISE. BOARD CONTROLS SHUT DOWN, CANNOT CONTROL HEAT, NAVIGATION SHUTS DOWN. SUPPER LOUD STATIC NOISE. TOOK TO LOCAL HONDA.. THEY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT NO SOLUTION TO FIX AT THIS TIME... 3 TIMES ALREADY. ALSO VEHICLE WHILE OPERATING.. WHEN THIS NOISES OCCUR FEELS LIKE ITS LOOSING POWER
Mileage: 10
WHILE DRIVING ON A TRIP AT ABOUT 60 MPH, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING, NOTHING WAS FUNCTIONAL, INCLUDING THE BACK-UP CAMERA WHICH I HEAVILY RELY ON. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IN ADDITION, ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WOULDN'T TURN OFF AND STARTED DRAINING THE BATTERY. I ENDED UP HAVING TO PULL THE FUSE TO GET IT TO SHUT OFF, WHICH IS VER DIFFICULT TO ACCESS. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY SAY THERE IS NO FIX CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE USING THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AT ALL IN THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS FOR PURCHASING.
Mileage: 6,000
FREQUENT LOUD CRACKLING NOISES COME FROM THE SPEAKERS, FOLLOWED BY A NETWORK CONNECTION LOST ERROR MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN, AND THEN THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK AND EVENTUALLY THE SYSTEM WILL REBOOT. THIS WILL HAPPEN REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING AND DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE STATE OR USE OF THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM (IT CAN BE OFF AND STILL HAPPEN). THERE SEEMS TO BE A CORRELATION WITH GOING OVER A BUMP, SUGGESTING A LOOSE CONNECTION SOMEWHERE. WHEN RESTARTING OR OFF, THE RADIO, CLIMATE CONTROLS AND THE BACKUP CAMERA ARE ALL UNAVAILABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT DISTRACTS THE DRIVER AND ALSO PREVENTS USAGE OF THE BACKUP CAMERA. BEGAN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY AT AROUND 1500 MILES AND NOW AT ~1700 MILES IT HAPPENS ESSENTIALLY ALL THE TIME.
Mileage: 1,700
WE WERE ON A VACATION 5 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND 40 MINUTES INTO OUR TRIP THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM, TO INCLUDE AUDIO AND VISUAL ALL TURNED OFF. WE HAD TO RESTART THE ENTIRE CARE. REPAIRS WERE SUPPOSEDLY MADE THE INCIDENT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN OFF AND ON FOR A FEW MONTHS. VAN WAS TAKEN IN ON A THURSDAY FOR REPAIRS, ADVISED IT WAS FIXED. THE SAME ERROR OCCURRED AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER.

HELLO I HAVE 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY ELITE. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM, THAT FREEZES UP, MUSIC NOT PLAYING, SCREEN BEING UNRESPONSIVE, CABIN WATCH FEATURE FREEZES, SKIPS PICTURE OR DOESN'T DISPLAY IT AT ALL OR WITH MESSAGE THAT PICTURE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED. RAIN SENSING WIPERS DO NOT WORK AS INTENDED. WHEN IS BARELY RAINING THEY GO FAST, WHEN IS RAINING A LOT WIPERS ARE WORKING SLOW. DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO FIX ISSUES OR THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THEM. I TRY TO TAKE VIDEOS/PHOTOS OF EVERY TIME SOMETHING IS HAPPENING BUT THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T TAKE THAT AS A PROOF THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. THEY DRIVE CAR FOR TWO MILES VS MINE 27K MILES IN 10 MONTHS, AND ALWAYS SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. I CALLED HONDA MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE ISSUES RESOLVED, ALWAYS SAME STORY FROM BOTH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE OR DEALERSHIP, PLEASE WAIT FOR AN UPDATE. I AM WAITING OVER 6 MONTHS AND NOTHING. I HAVE MORE VIDEOS/PICTURES AVAILABLE. WE HAVE TWO SAME VEHICLES IN OUR HOUSEHOLD, MY WIFE'S CAR HAVE SAME ISSUES.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY ELITE ON 9/17/2019. I DROVE TO WORK AS USUAL, MADE SURE ALL ELECTRICALS (E.G., DOME LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, ETC.) WERE OFF, PARKED AND ALARMED MY VEHICLE. CAR REMAINED PARKED WHILE I WORKED. AFTER MY SHIFT, I TRIED TO USE THE REMOTE ENGINE START, BUT NOTICED THE CAR DIDN'T START. I PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY FOB, BUT NO RESPONSE; THE CAR REMAINED LOCKED. I TRIED TO UNLOCK VIA HONDALINK APP, WHICH DISPLAYED THAT CAR WAS UNLOCKED. I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN ANY CAR DOOR, BUT THEY REMAINED LOCKED. I WAS LEFT STRANDED IN 94*F HEAT AND NO NEARBY SHADE. LUCKILY MY FAMILY WEREN'T THERE OR THEY WOULD'VE ALSO BEEN LEFT BAKING IN THE HEAT. I USED THE MANUAL KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND GOT IN. THEN TRIED TO START THE CAR BUT NO RESPONSE AT ALL (I.E, NO LIGHTS ON THE HUD, LCD MONITORS, ETC.). ALSO TRIED UNLOCKING OTHER DOORS FROM INSIDE; NOTHING WORKED. CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE & THEY SENT SOMEONE TO HELP. GUY TRIED JUMP STARTING CAR, STILL NOTHING. SAID HE EVEN SENT "DIRECT CURRENT" TO CAR, BUT ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE; NO LIGHTS OF ANY KIND, NO ACCESS TO UNLOCK OTHER DOORS OR OPEN WINDOWS. CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AGAIN. THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO TOW CAR TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. TOW DRIVER ARRIVED, BUT COULDN'T TOW MY CAR AS THERE WERE CARS PARKED IN FRONT & IN BACK OF MY CAR. THERE WAS ALSO NO WAY FOR HIM TO PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT FEATURE. WE LOOKED IN CAR MANUAL FOR SOLUTION. ABOUT 2 HRS LATER, THE DRIVER DISCOVERED HE WAS ABLE TO START CAR BY USING KEY FOB TO PRESS THE START/STOP BUTTON. I DROVE TO DEALERSHIP & TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. SAID THEY WOULD PERFORM THOROUGH INSPECTION. IT'S BEEN 1.5 DAYS & THEY STILL DON'T KNOW THE PROBLEM. SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. I'M SCHEDULED TO PICK UP MY CAR TODAY BUT AM HESITANT & AFRAID OF BEING STRANDED WITH MY FAMILY WHEN TRAVELLING.

THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WHICH CONTROLS EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY FROZEN AND CRASHED. ALL, SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING THE BACKUP CAMERA DISABLED AND COULDN'T BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM DEEM THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION EVEN IT WASN'T. WORST, THERE IS NO WAY TO RESET OR TURN OFF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT VISITING A DEALER. MANY DRIVERS THAT I KNEW OF ARE CONSTANTLY FORCED TO FIX THE SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING. THIS CREATES SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTS. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE ODOR WAS DETECTED FOR 72 HOURS. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE PHONE CHARGER PORT IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE CELL PHONE TO ALSO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA WEST (7615 W SAHARA AVE, LAS VEGAS, NV 89117, (800) 249-9504) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,658.

THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. WITHOUT WARNING THE ENTIRE UNIT BLACKOUTS OR LOCKS UP RENDERING IT USELESS. THIS IMPACTS NAVIGATION, ALL AUDIO, THE BACKUP CAMERA AND BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN LATE MAY AND HAS BEEN RETURNED 2 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITHOUT RESOLVE. IT IS GOING BACK A THIRD TIME IN THE MORNING. WE'VE PROVIDED SCREENSHOTS AND VIDEO TO THE DEALER. THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AND IS A MAJOR DISTRACTION FOR MY WIFE AND I PARTICULARLY WHEN YOU CONSIDER HIGHWAY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN HOUSTON METRO. WE'VE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT CELLPHONES IN THE CABIN VICINITY AND THE MALFUNCTION STILL OCCURS.

INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM FREEZES CAUSING BATTERY TO DRAIN TO ZERO WHEN PARKED. RADIO STOPS, NAVIGATION STOPS, PHONE STOPS WORKING, BACKUP CAMERA STOPS WORKING. EVIDENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM BECAUSE CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED IN MARCH IN CALIFORNIA. TOOK TO DEALER, THEY CHANGED BATTERY, TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED. FROZE AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN SYSTEM FAILED. THE NEXT MORNING CAR WOULD NOT START BECAUSE BATTERY DRAINED.THIS WAS ON A FEDERAL HIGHWAY. HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THE BATTERY WAS CHANGED. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, THE DASHBOARD (INCLUDING NOT BUT LIMITED TO SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, FUEL LEVEL, CURRENT GEAR, ETC) WENT COMPLETE OFF MOMENTARILY AND THEN RESTARTED ITSELF. AFTER THE DASHBOARD CAME BACK, THE DASHBOARD FLASHED AN ERROR LIKE "ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM PROBLEM" FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS NORMALLY UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 DAYS. I COULDN'T GET A PICTURE OF THE ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT HAPPENED RANDOMLY WITH NO CLEAR INDICATION THAT IT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.

ON JULY 2ND OUR VEHICLE WOULDN'T START. PRIOR TO THIS DATE THE VEHICLE WORKED FINE. WE CALL HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY CAME AND JUMPED IT. MY WIFE LET IT IDLE FOR NEARLY 1 HOUR AND TURNED IT OFF. SHE RETURNED AN HOUR LATER ONLY TO FIND IT WAS DEAD AGAIN. I DECIDED TO COME HOME AND JUMPED IT AND DROVE IT DOWN THE HWY. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS SOME VEHICLES SWEARVING AROUND SOME DEBRIS ON THE ROAD AND WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I WASN'T ABLE TO STEAR THE VEHICLE FAST ENOUGH AND HIT SOME OF THE DEBRIS. I LET OF THE BRAKE AND THE POWER CAME BACK ON. I DROVE HOME TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN TRIED TO RESTART IT AGAIN ONLY TO DISCOVER IT WAS DEAD. I GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND INSPECTED THE FRONT END WHICH HAD MINOR SCRATCHES AND CUTS IN THE LOWER FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BUMPER

THREE HOURS AWAY FROM HOME AND THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WENT COMPLETELY OUT. ALL OF THE SAFETY FEATURES ATTACHED WERE OFF AND WE WERE UNSURE OF THE IMPACT TO OTHER FEATURES. IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS OFF. IT CONTINUED TO DRAIN THE BATTERY WITHOUT ANYWAY TO TURN IT OFF. CALLED HONDA SUPPORT AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND NO ONE COULD HELP ME OR REASSURE MY FAMILY THAT WE WERE SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THREE DAYS LATER THEY HAD TO CONNECT TWO WIRES AT THE DEALERSHIP TO RESET THE SYSTEM. APPRECIATE THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE BUT NO ONE HAS GIVEN US DETAILS OF WHAT CAUSE THE ISSUE OR THE OVERALL IMPACT ON SAFETY FEATURES.

SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THE HEADLIGHTS DIM WAY DOWN AND SOMETIMES CHANGE INTENSITY GREATLY EVERY SINGLE TIME THE A/C COMPRESSOR CLUTCH ENGAGES AND DRAWS CURRENT. ALL LIGHTING ACROSS EVERY SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE DIMS WAY DOWN AS WELL. THAT IS, INTERIOR ILLUMINATION, INSTRUMENT CONSOLE AND PANEL, EXTERIOR MARKER LIGHTS. ALL LIGHTING DIMS WHEN THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH ENGAGES. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED A FEW THINGS AS INSTRUCTED BY THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE SITUATION HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. WHILE OUT ON FREEWAYS AT NIGHT FOLLOWING BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES, THE DRIVER WILL BECOME ANNOYED IN FRONT THINKING THAT I AM PURPOSEFULLY FLICKERING OR FLASHING THE HEADLIGHTS TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO SPEED UP OR MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. THIS CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2018 AND REMAINS.
