When my car hit 40000 miles or so, I started getting all sorts of warning lights showing up when I turned my car on. Took my car in to Honda today, and they said upon checking it that the multifunction camera which is located behind the rear view mirror has stopped working. The car has 44,500 miles on it. It has been in no accidents. There seems to be no reason for such a part to just stop working (needing a $2500 repair to fix).

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Honda Odyssey involving the front monocular camera system. After stopping for fuel and restarting the vehicle, multiple warning messages and fault codes appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, including: -Collision Mitigation System Problem -Adaptive Cruise Control Problem -Lane Keep Assist Problem -Auto High Beam Problem These systems are all disabled due to a failure of the front monocular camera. This failure occurred without warning and immediately compromised several critical driver-assistance and safety features. Based on my research and discussions with other Honda Odyssey owners, this is a known and widespread issue. Honda is aware that the front monocular camera is prone to failure, and numerous owners have reported identical symptoms and error codes. Despite this, no recall has been issued. The required repair involves replacement and recalibration of the front camera and carries an estimated cost of approximately $1,500, which places a significant financial burden on owners for what appears to be a known defect. More importantly, the sudden loss of collision mitigation, lane assist, and adaptive cruise control presents a clear safety concern, especially when drivers rely on these systems during normal operation. Given the safety implications and the number of reported cases, I believe this issue warrants further investigation and a formal recall by Honda. Owners should not be responsible for the cost of repairing a known defect that disables critical safety systems. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Vehicle was driving normally down the highway then proceeded to shutdown without warning. Suddenly all of the trouble Lights appeared indicatinging engine, transmission, hill assist etc cut on without warning. The van would not drive above 55 mph when turned back on.
While driving with my family, my vehicle experienced a sudden and total failure of the front-facing multi-purpose camera mounted behind the windshield. This component is the primary sensor for the Honda Sensing suite. The failure caused multiple critical safety systems to become inoperative simultaneously, including the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). These systems are essential for crash avoidance and driver assistance.

The camera in the front windshield went out. It has caused NONE of my safety features to work. Honda is charging $2,500 for the part and labor. It's ridiculous how many people are having the SAME issue. My van didn't even have 52,000 miles. Honda needs to fix this issue

Honda sensing stopped working and threw a bunch of errors about ACC, LKAS, Collision mitigation, auto high beam error, forward collision, lane keep. Apparently the camera had an internal fault without any prior warning. Also vehicle’s timing belt tensioner already deemed leaking at just 75,000 miles, well below the 100k replacement point, despite regular checks and maintenance at Honda dealers. Front suspension leaking, honda replaced only 1, and declined to replace both, as recommended by dealer mechanic. If i did not have honda care, i would be left with a very large repair bill for critical components of the drivability and safety of the vehicle. This is not acceptable.

Failed Part Information Front Camera - Honda (36160-THR-A11) Faulty camera inaccurately reads the surrounding objects, causing the car to hesitate and lurch when accelerating. It is not safe. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a service center and the dealer Yes, the component has been inspected by the dealer and a service center No warnings prior to failure. The warning lamps and messages started when the component had already failed.
Driving on the interstate with cruise control. All of a sudden the car braked (no one in front within eye shot) and cruise control stopped. I had to tap the brake manually then accelerator to get the car back under my control. Ever since then I get ACC, LKAS and other warnings when the car starts up. It seems like the front camera catastrophically failed while driving and almost caused the car to come to a complete stop on the interstate. It was very scary.

Suddenly, all the Lane Keeping Assistance, Auto Beam Headlights, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control came on. When I took it in for diagnosis, they claim that the Camera Assembly Monocular no longer works. From searching forums, it appears this is a known issue. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.

On random occasions all of the above warning lights come on. They will stay on for weeks at a time despite replacing the battery and following all reset protocol. It seems when weather is cooler, everything functions as it should and cam work fine for days and out of the blue will throw all the alerts again making lane assist, cruise control, and all departure assists not function. Because the system works sometimes and not others, the honda dealership doesnt believe it is an issue with the camera or sensor specifically because it would never work properly. It isnt an obstruction issues as I make it a point to regularly clean the sensor area on the grill and on the window where the camera is. A strange thing I notice is it seems 5o work better on days that are foggy or raining where youd think there would be obstruction. Its just been a whole distraction while driving. I would be content at this point just to have those options not function ever but keep the orange blinking annoying lights off that decide to work randomly with no reason or rhyme.
The monocular camera went out unexpectedly for my van back in March 2025. I have multiple failure warnings that all of the van's safety features were disabled. The van had around 80k miles at the time and Honda dealer quoted me well over $2000 dollars to rectify the problem. Looked through forums and online groups and realized it was a very common issues with late model Hondas. Seems like the internal electronic is cooked by heat over time and caused the camera module to go out prematurely. I ended up buying a module from Honda and had an independent shop to calibrate it for the van which still cost me well over $1000 out of pocket.

The front multifunction windshield camera module failed due to a hot day. The cruise control, lane departure, collision mitigation, and other advanced driver safety assists are completely non functional. These are key safety features for ourselves and others. It has been confirmed by technicians, and many other owners of vehicle this model and generation with the same problem. It hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer. Many warning indications came on during startup and all the systems stated above stopped working. They haven't worked sense. This same thing happened about 2 years ago on this same van. This is a very common issue with this vehicle model and year. The manufacturer needs to issue recall for it.

1. The multipurpose camera, which is needed for the ADAS to function has malfunctioned. Yes, it is available for inspection request. 2. The malfunctioning multipurpose camera caused the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to perform unreliably. Features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning either stopped working or provided false alerts. This created unpredictable driving conditions, as I could not rely on the systems to detect other vehicles, maintain lane position, or warn of potential collisions. The issue increased the risk of an accident for me and for other drivers or pedestrians, especially in traffic or on highways. Upon doing some research, it seems clear that this is a wide-spread problem, which Honda has not issued a recall about. 3. Yes, this has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. 4. No, it has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance rep. 5. No, there were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure
We began getting several warnings related to Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Detection, Lane Departure not working. This was due to the multipurpose camera internal failure. The camera had to be replaced by a authorized Honda Dealer at a cost of $2,200. While the car was drivable no safety features related to the multipurpose camera were available. There were no indications of issues prior to the camera going bad. Due to the cost of replacement I would think that a large portion of drivers do not get the camera replaced and continue to drive the vehicle without use of the safety features provided.

Ton of warning messages. On the Honda online forum you can find hundreds of people with the same problem
Multipurpose Camera failed at 110000 miles. This causes deactivation of the Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam and cruise control systems. The primary advanced safety features of the vehicle are disabled due to this issue. Issue has been reported to the dealer and they state that it is a common issue, but no recall or TSB for it yet. Warning lights come up on the dash every time the vehicle is turned on.

All of the alarm lights are going on at once, immediately when the car is turned on. This includes the Collision Mitigation System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Break System. I am told by my local garage that it is a Odyssey radar system failure, that probably originates in the camera or computer, but that they cannot fix it or get parts for it. It is unclear if these systems work or not.

After we took the car in all of a sudden randomly these warning lights will come on and my D for drive keeps flashing. LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, Auto High Beam Problem And brake system warning. Sometimes some of them sometimes all of them. I read it’s a common problem but there hasn’t been a recall on it.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L has had sporadic errors happen: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Blind Spot Info System Problem. These errors have shown up before sporadically and the dealer, DCH Honda of Oxnard was notified April 27, 2023. They could not replicate and did not respond in writing that something was wrong. The errors went away on their own. 3 weeks ago, the errors showed up again, this time also including a transmission system problem warning. The car was taken to Honda in Valencia and they ran a diagnostic and recommended the transmission be replaced or they would give us $2500 for the car. We opted to have a well reputed private transmission mechanic replace the transmission. After doing so the errors are still there. The transmission system problem error even showed up sporadically the very same day we picked the car up. There is no rhyme or reason to these errors other than perhaps a faulty windshield camera, which takes 5 minutes to replace but Honda wants to charge $2k. We also experienced the delayed shifting due to the poor 9 speed transmission and vcm design. It was quite scary to have a car full of children making a left turn on a busy road and not have the car kick into gear but rather slip. Installing a vcm tuner to bypass the computer shifting helped as well as not driving the car in Econ. Honda knows they made a bad car and while Honda Pilots and other models have had recalls related to the transmission, I am atill waiting for NHTSA to take action and include my lemon Odyssey as well. Replacing the transmission cost me over $7k and it may not have been necessary in the end if in fact these errors were related to the camera.

Multipurpose camera failure, all advanced safety systems were affected (Adaptive Cruise, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Warning, Auto-dim headlights, etc) Also, caused engine light, brake system and transmission system errors to appear but they were cleared by replacing the camera with no apparent damage to the actual systems. Replaced at a dealership for a total cost for parts and labor $2200+.
Front windshield camera failed and available for inspection if needed. All safety features tied to this camera are now disabled. Even basic cruise control is disabled. Problem has been check by a dealer with an estimated cost of $2600 to repair a simple camera module. Not inspected by police but was inspected by the manufactures dealer. I can get it inspected by the police if it helps. There are several warning lights that come up after starting the car. Even dinging when backing out of the driveway causing distractions. This is a known issue for this year Honda Odyssey van. There are lots of posts about it and how to try and fix it without the dealer charging you 10% of the cost of a 2025 model. For something designed for families this is not what I expected. This vehicles safety is impacted by the removal of these features.

Multi-Purpose camera unit internal electronic failure. Front-facing camera mounted in the windshield. This caused several warning lights including the brake system warning light to illuminate. This failure caused the automatic brake system and other safety features in the car to turn off. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic. There were no other warning signs.

Got my windshield replaced. Was recalibrated. Within 3 months, 5 dash lights come on. 1. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem 2. Lane Keep Assist Problem 3. Collision Mitigation System Problem 4. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem 5. Auto High-Beam Problem And the Brake System light is on. I was told it wasn’t the new windshield and that recalibration wouldn’t fix the problem. The code that won’t clear is U3000-49
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) My 2019 Honda Odyssey slammed on the brakes while traveling 70+ MPH on a clear freeway. There was no warning and nothing in the road. I have also had issues with the braking warning light flashing for no reason while traveling down the roadway. I called the Honda dealership and inquired about the braking issues and was told unfortunately it can happen, especially if I drive on windy roads.
The Camera Assembly Monocular (part 36160-THR-A81) is shorted out causing multiple safety system failures from collision warning, lane departure, emergency braking, etc. Confirmed by local mechanic and then Honda dealer (Merrillville, IN). I still have the part, not yet replaced. Quoted $2K to replace. While driving multiple warning lamps went off and cruise control disengaged. No signs of issues prior to this occurrence. Now none of the safety features related to the ADAS system work.

The van's LKAS camera has malfunctioned. This has disabled not only LKAS but cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and rear cross traffic. There is also a brake system failure light active on the digital dashboard. The failure of the LKAS camera has affected numerous Honda vehicles, not only the Odyssey, and across many model years. The part is available for inspection; #36160-THR-A81. The failure of the component has disabled key federally required safety features of the vehicle. The problem has been inspected by a Honda dealership. The repair cost is over $2,000. No warning lights nor error messages appeared before the failure of the component. It's demise presented as an intermittent error for 2 months before becoming permanent.

Multipurpose camera is defective. The camera is available for inspection upon request. A number of safety features do not work when this camera is not operational, including forward collision warning and lane departure warning. Honda dealership performed a diagnostic and confirmed it needs to be replaced. No other parties have inspected the camera. There were no warning messages prior to the camera failing, only after it had failed. This appears to be a common issue affecting many owners of this vehicle.

In August of 2024, I started up my 2019 Honda Odyssey one morning and all the vehicle safety alerts/warnings on the dashboard came on (adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, ABS). I took the vehicle into my local Honda dealership and they ran a diagnostic which determined that the forward looking camera was faulty and needs to be replaced. There were previously no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure of the camera. The dealer's quote to replace the camera was $1,528.99 at the time. Having since researched this issue further on Honda owner forums, this seems to be a common problem with this generation of Honda vehicles. As evidenced by the corresponding warning messages, the failure of the front camera causes an array of vehicle safety issues impacting the driver and passengers, other vehicles and pedestrians. This defect, which is an extremely cost-prohibitive repair for the consumer, should be addressed and corrected by the manufacturer as soon as possible. The vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. Please note that I was unable to select all the applicable Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) under the Problem Parts section of this form.

My radar and multipurpose camera need replacement
I had 5 warnings appeared in the dashboard : -Adaptive cruise control problem -Lane keeping assist problem -Collision mitigation system problem -road departure mitigation system problem -Auto high-beam problem and the Amber Brake system light came on permanently Searched the problem on Google and Reddit found many Honda Odyssey owners having the same problem which is a safety issue some people took their vehicle to the dealership and have been told that the windshield camera is causing these warnings to appear because the camera is overheated by the sun, and the manufacturer did not make the camera well ventilated to dissipate heat caused by sun light

The sensors in the rear view camera and the grille are malfunctioning causing my van to throw error messages for the adaptive cruise control, lane assist, automatic high beam and brake light to stay on. Theres a risk of accidents happening if the van doesnt notify the driver of lane departure at the right time.
The multipurpose camera has an internal failure at 105 thousand miles. This controls the automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and more. This safety features such as emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning are important safety features. All of these features help drivers avoid collisions by acting to correct or avoid collisions or accidents faster or earlier than drivers can react. The Honda dealership service department has confirmed that the multipurpose camera had an internal failure, but did not provide a reason and there was no inciting incident during driving or ownership that caused this. The Honda dealership service department has been inspected and diagnosed that the multipurpose camera had an internal failure. No, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. They only appeared after the failure, and the failure happened without warning. The failure first appeared on July 7th, 2025.

After two months of sitting outside in the Arizona Sun, the transmission was replaced on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. A day after picking it up all of the sensors came on. I have been informed that it’s an internal failure with the ADAS camera that’s housed in the windshield. After a brief web search, this seems to be a common issue related to electrical issues with the car. Since the electrical was connected and disconnected during the transmission replacement begs to reason that there was something faulty about this camera that didn’t make its way through the reset.
The multi-purpose camera/millimeter wave radar has been diagnosed by a certified Honda service center as having an internal failure, disabling all advanced driver assistance systems from operating as designed. These systems include: adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, automatic high beam. The failure of these safety systems has increased the risk of crash and injury to the vehicle occupants.

While driving on the interstate (60-70 mph) in very light traffic (2 cars in view), there was a beep from the consol and the following errors flashed: Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance Warning. At the same time as the beep the car felt like the breaks were being slammed on for 2 second. There was no car within 30 feet of us. and we went from ~70 mph to 40. This startled us. Ever sense then the errors would randomly come on and the vehicle will break suddenly, leading to very unsafe moments.

The automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning will occasionally go off when there are no vehicles or obstructions in the way. It will often cause the vehicle to brake and make the driver act to keep the vehicle in lane or from another vehicle from rear ending you.

Warning for Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam, Collision Mitigation, and Road Departure all populated at once. The functionality does not work, even regular cruise control without the adaptive feature. There have been many reports of this issue with fixes upwards of $3,000. Appears to be a faulty camera. This is a safety issue and should be addressed and recalled.
8/10 times when turning on and driving the vehicle, an error pops up on the dash indicating the LKAS and ACC no longer work. Dealer found the code was U3000-49, they could not get it to clear. Sometimes the car will start without the problem, but then at some point through the drive it will occur and LKAS and cruise control will no longer be avaliable

5 warning shows up.
When I start the vehicle, I consistently get warnings for ACC problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Road Departure Mitigation problem, and Auto High Beam Problem. This occurs every time I have driven the vehicle for the past week. From cursory research, this issue commonly appears to be related to a failure of the camera module located next to the rearview mirror.
Turned on the car the other day and several warnings displayed on the odometer. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem Lake Keeping Assist Problem Collision Mitigation Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Auto High-Beam Problem Other than cruise controls not working, the car works fine. I took it to the dealer, and they said the camera module behind the rear view mirror needs to be replaced. Technician claimed that because my cruise control button was left on, it kept the camera running, and basically overheated the camera to a fault. He mentioned recommending to router owners that they only turn on the cruise control button when they plan to use it, and to leave it off if not. I asked if turning the cruise control button when not in use was referenced in the owner’s manual, but he was unsure. I would have to double check, but I don’t believe that warning is there.
At restaurant on 6/1/25, backed out of parking spot. Drove about 30 ft to parking lot exit. Turned onto side street to go to light and turn on main street. About 3 or 4 car lengths from exit to light. Side street sloped down about 20-30 degrees. Brakes would not stop van. Not sure if brakes slowed down van as going slow. However, brake pedal pushed hard down to floor but did not stop van. If hit gas pedal van would have accelerated and engine raced causing acceleration and more damage. No damage to back of vehicle I hit. Very minor damage to my van. Tried yesterday and today to replicate (in isolated locations and with no other vehicle near) the van’s conditions at time of incident. I will be contacting dealer. There is no recall. Do not know if anyone else had this problem or if dealer can find any issue. Notifying NHTSA to advise of this potential systemic issue. I’ll follow up with results of interaction with dealer.
The Brake System warning light is on. With this, it is showing 5 different issue messages when the car is running. I've taken to the dealer and they are saying there is an issue with the multipurpose front camera. My car is on 39,900 miles.
I was driving the van and all this warnings came on my dashboard. ACC Adaptive cruis control problem, Lane keeping assist problem, collision mittigation problem. Road departure mittigation problem. All they come one after eachother on my dashboard. I did some research and a lot of vans 2019 have the sa e issues. My friend van same problem she payed 1900 to replace the camera. This is a safety issue and it cost a lot to replace. It cannot be deactivated. I hope it will be a recall issued for this model. I have 3 minivans honda. I never had an issue with thjs brand . The new one is terrible.... Thank you.

Without any notable prior messages or symptoms prior to the failure, on [XXX] after dropping off the kids at school and then turning on my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L (28,170 miles), the "Brake System" light was on and the following 5 dashboard warning lights/messages turned on: 1) Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, 2) Lane Keeping Assist Problem, 3) Collision Mitigation System Problem, 4) Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, 5) Auto High-Beam Problem. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems no longer works, and it becomes unknown to the driver whether the "Brake System" light is being triggered only by the Collision Mitigation System Problem, or an additional problemch as the anti-lock brake system not working. While no accidents occurred, the warning lights add unneeded driver anxiety, which can contribute to a potential safety impact. The problem has been confirmed by the San Leandro, CA Honda Dealer to be error code U3000-49. Dealer diagnosed problem as "Multipurpose camera / millimeter wave radar internal circuit failure" and recommended to replace the multipurpose camera and perform aiming. Dealer advised that safety features will not work. Took the van to the dealership to fix a recall for the fuel pump. A few days later, error messages popped up saying there are problems with the adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation system, lane keep assist system, and brake system, among others. I test drove it from Arcadia to Pasadena on both the freeway and the sidestreets without any problems. We took it back to the dealership who assessed it and told us that the multipurpose camera was bad. It would cost us $2100 to get it fixed. We refused. No one was hurt, however, the dealership told me that there is a safety risk to my family if I did not repair it. Attached is the invoice for the last visit during which the dealership gave us the estimate for replacing the multipurpose camera.

The adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and road departure system randomly fails and does not work.
All the symbols related ADAS suddenly popped in my car with no rain or snow or any accidents. When I checked with Honda dealership, they said it caused due to software issue and nothing related hardware and it needed 2500$ for replacing the entire system. If it is software causing this issue why would customer had to pay for it, and it could be a recall. I noticed similar issue for all 2019 and above models.

Upon starting the car, multiple alerts came on the dashboard reporting faults with multiple systems. There was no damage to the car, it had been parked safely and appropriately prior to starting. Dealership inspected the issue and reported the camera/sensor system in the windshield behind the rear view mirror is faulty. This faulty camera now causes multiple systems off line as the sensor is no longer reliable. This is a safety issue as this sensor assists with split second support to the driver to prevent collisions, leaving your lane or speed adjustment with cruise control.

LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, Auto High Beam Problem - all these dash lights come on due to unknown reasons. Dealership blames the windshield camera but even when replaced same issue happens. This is a major safety concern and is a frequent issue amongst 2018- 2025 Honda odyssey owners. It’s possible that the issue is electrical CanBus issue. Please help

monocular camera failure. Diagnosed by Honda Dealership. Safety risk because the Adaptive cruise control, Auto high beam, road departure mitigation system and collision mitigation system no longer work properly. The warning lamps are continuously on the car, reporting this problem as well.
I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which poses a risk to me and my family. The issue is intermittent, making it difficult for the dealership to replicate. The problem began when the Collision Mitigation System warning light flashed, indicating a system malfunction. This was followed by multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard. At times, the entire dashboard and screen go blank, and all gauges shut off while I am driving on both city streets and highways-though the engine remains on. Additionally, I have experienced the following issues: The steering wheel stiffness when making turns, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being at a stop. In December 2023, I took the vehicle to a Honda Dealership, where they recommended replacing the front camera/sensor (behind the rear mirror) at a cost of over $1,500.00. I proceeded with the repair in December 2023. However, the same issues returned in January 2025. This defect poses a severe safety risk, especially when driving at higher speeds or in traffic. Since the dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue due to its sporadic nature, I am requesting an investigation into this matter to determine if other owners are experiencing similar safety risks. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.
Out of nowhere I received 5 warnings regarding Adaptive Cruise Control, Collusion Mitigation, Lane Keep Assistant, Automatic High Beam... etc Failure. Upon restarting the car, the warnings would clear itself on occasion but would reappear on following start up.

Within 6 months of purchase (no accidents or related issues), the car starts firing off a wide range of alerts on the dashboard about failures. These include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), or Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High-beam problem, and Lane Keeping Assist problems. There are MANY reported issues like this online and it’s a clear failure of on Honda’s part to provide working safety features that they advertise.

This is my second 2019 Honda Odyssey that has Multipurpose camera unit internal electronic failure(error code U3000-49). Failed camera causing the whole ADAS system to stop functioning. This part shouldn't fail in 6 year old 50000 miles car. I will also report on my second Honda Odyssey which I had the same issue last year.
It first started with the Power tailgate failure which I brought it to Honda who are aware that there is a faulty sealant that is causing water to get into these odysseys. They refuse to fix the issues and they are very costly. My van has never been in an accident. Now I'm getting all sorts of warnings from the ADAS system. Honda has refused to fix their issues and I can not afford $7000 cost to get this cleared up. People who own these vans are complaining and no one is doing enough to get this recalled.
I began have an issue with intermittent warnings on my vehicle a few months ago. They’d come and go, sometimes going away for a couple weeks. I took it to Honda they said it was the battery. After changing the battery it continues to intermittently show warnings. Collision mitigation problem, adaptive cruise control problem, lane assist problem. I took it to 3 mechanics and no one could figure it out. Finally I went back to Safelite where I got my windshield replaced in September and when they hooked it up they could see that it was the multipurpose camera failure. Error code u3000 49. When the warnings are turned on all those safety features are obsolete. Upon further investigation via the Internet I now see there’s hundreds of posts with this specific problem with their 2019 Honda odyssey.
When starting my van, I got warnings for ACC, Lane Departure, and Collision Mitigation stating that the issues were broken. I received error code U3000-49 at the Honda repair dealer which stated the multipurpose camera no longer works. In doing my research, it appears this is a known issue that Honda is not taking responsibility for and charging $1,500 to $2,000 to repair. They state the car works fine other than having none of those safety features working.
Dealer states that non OEM glass caused the front camera module to overheat due to overwork, currently broken and needing replacement. The glass that was installed was not EOM but IS made for front facing cameras so this seems very weird and sensitive. The replacement glass was put in two years ago but I am just now having this issue. Again, this doesn't seem to match their reasoning. Error code#U3000-49 2019 Honda Odyssey part: 36160THRA11 error messages. * Collision Mitigation * LKA * Adaptive cruise * Lane Departure Mitigation * Auto High Beam

2019 Honday Odyssey. Front camera failure is causing subsequent failure of several features to include: front brake assist and crash avoidance, lane keep assist, auto high beam, auto cruise control. Honda denies responsibility or acknowledgment that this is a faulty part and the out of pocket cost of replacement is ~$1500. This is unacceptable for a 5 year car and creates a serious driving hazard.

Multipurpose camera facing front on top of windshield works intermittently. 20% of the time it works fine, usually the first drive of the morning when the car is cool. 80% of the time, within 60 seconds upon startup there are 5 bright orange warning lights that come on all related to a malfunction in the multipurpose camera. These are: Adaptive Cruise Control Failure, Collision Mitigation System Failure, Lane Keeping Assistance Problem, Road Departure Assistance Problem, Auto-High Beam failure. Most concerning is that the “BRAKE SYSTEM” light stays illuminated orange after these warnings come on. My car will not pass inspection if it happens to have these intermittent warnings happen that trip. This started 1 month ago, out of the blue. From what I read online in Reddit and ODY.com…this multipurpose camera failure happens to many people at the 4-5 year mark. One person has a video posted about how it’s the camera overheating…it becomes too hot to touch. If you pour water on the windshield outside it will cool it off enough to work again. I think this is a malfunction/manufacturing defect in the camera itself. It should not randomly fail after only 4-5 years. It’s connected to all these vital safety systems. The repair cost quoted to me is $2686.88 + tax. This is SO expensive and I cannot afford to fix this. I don’t need the camera because I learned to drive without all these features, but I cannot remove this option. So, I’m stuck with having to pay a huge amount for something that is a manufacturing defect in the camera itself.

Brought my 2019 Odessey to the dealership shortly after I had the following error messages appeared on my dashboard: Brake System, Auto High-Beam Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, & Adaptive Cruise Control Problem. Sometimes these pop-up intermittently. Other codes I've seen twice since this issue started are Transmission System Problem and Blind Spot Info System Problem. The dealership mentioned that these error codes are most likely associated with the other codes mentioned above. Did a diagnostic at the dealership and they initially cleared all codes and U300-49 returned and they are recommending replacing the Multi-purpose camara unit and they are charging $2,256.95 for this to be done. This repair is costly and from what I understand is a common issue for Odessey owners. In addition, since this little part seems responsible for upholding these safety features it seems ridiculous that we paid good money to have this vehicle, but our all these safety features seem to be on hold until we get this costly repair done. I personally don't feel 100% safe driving the vehicle. To me, it feels like a gamble to put my family and the public in danger by driving the vehicle because every time I turn on the vehicle the warning sounds beep and flash, I don't feel safe.
All the controls in my Van (cruise control, lane assist, auto break etc...) stopped working. I took the van multiple times and the reason they gave is its possible that the Camera stopped working. I replaced the front windshield with OEM through Insurance. I have a feeling this happened only after the repair. The issue goes away for some reason while driving and comes back again. So its not due to any Camera failures. This seems to be a problem for many Honda Odyssey

Multipurpose camera malfunction.
ADAS system has failed. Out of the blue, multiple warning lights have came on at the same time. This failed system is a danger by taking away some important safety features of the vehicle. -Collision mitigation system problem -Auto high beam problem -Road departure mitigation system problem -lane keeping assist problem -adaptive cruise control problem Vehicle has been taken to local mechanic to check codes. Codes cleared yet returned immediately. Seems to be an issue with a multipurpose camera in the front.
The adaptive cruise control stopped working while it was on and we were driving. Also the lane keep assist went out at the same time. It appears to be an extremely common issue in this cars with the front sensing camera which is the issue we have.

The vehicles monocular camera assembly is failing and causing all the adas systems to not operate. This is a severe safety issue and is a common problem for Honda vehicles. Honda should be required to recall and replace the faulty camera.

multiple errors show up on the dash. I was told it’s dealership, but this is due to a failure of the multipurpose computer in the car. This is the issue that keeps recurring across all their cars of this type that has this unit.
I took my van to the dealer and they told me that the sensor inside of the front mirror is faulty, causing the following lights to continue to cycle if the car is on: Adaptive cruise control problem (ACC); Auto high-beam problem (A); Road departure mitigation system problem; collision mitigation system problem; lane keeping assist problem (LKAS); brake system lights. I am unable to engage or disengage any of these systems, including when I am driving. This seems to be a major security hazard and I am aware of others that have experienced this with this exact year, make and model (across different packages) of Honda minivan. I just wanted to report this in case this becomes a major concern for other consumers.
The whole ADAS system went down and a brake system light came on. Van isn’t in warranty but isn’t old either. Just out of warranty. Lots of safety items disabled because of a faulty camera that’s too expensive to replace on our own, so now we operate a mini-van without all the extra safety items that ADAS gives you. Guess ADAS was never intended to improve safety if it only works for a couple of years.
All safety lights are on on the dash. No cruise control. Brake system lane mitigation ,etc. been told it’s possibly camera issues quote from Honda dealer of 2200.00 to hopefully repair. 5 yr old vehicle and they want me to spend that. I can’t afford that.

Out of nowhere... a bunch of warnings lights have appeared and disabled a lot of the safety features on the vehicle. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem Lane Keeping Assist Problem Collision Mitigation System Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Auto High Beam Problem The car drives fine but the safety features do not work, along with the cruise control. This is a known issue for Honda and there needs to be a recall before someone get hurt!!!
All the advanced driver assistance system fails intermittently. This causes 5 different warnings to come on and all of the safety features to stop working. This is an ongoing issue that I had taken to the dealer for on numerous occasions with no remedy.
All of a sudden every ADAS system went down. When starting the vehicle I get numerous errors displayed - all having to do with the ADAS. The forward facing camera is the cause of this and it is a known systemic issue within Honda. All safety features are now disabled and the vehicle has the original camera and windshield.

The front facing monocular camera of the ADAS system has failed on this 2019 Honda Odyssey with approximately 50,000 miles. The failure of this camera has rendered the ADAS systems inoperable including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. This appears to be a common complaint/failure mode amongst many similar Honda models 2018 - 2022. The following message suddenly appeared one day and since then, they kept coming back on every time starting the car: ACC problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Auto High Beam Problem, Brake Problem, and sometimes Transmission Problem as well. After research online, many other owners of the same vehicle had the same issue and which may be caused by faulty connector or faulty front camera component for the hardware issue; or software issue which was on the previous recall for the multi-media issue on the Odysseys. There is a HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 18-006 for the 2017-2018 CR-V models of the same issue/symptoms: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2019 Honda Odyssey was involved in a total loss car accident recently on Aug 20 2024. The cause was delayed acceleration due to a fuel pump recall by Honda Motor Corp from Dec 2023; and to date they have failed and neglected to provide the part to repair. For over a year I have experienced delayed acceleration issues with this auto. I purchased this auto new from the local dealer in 2019 and have constantly experienced, reported and paid thousands to repair and address transmission and delayed acceleration issues. Now this resulted in my inability to accelerate from a stop position resulting in another vehicle directly crashing into mine. Researching similar issues reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it appears I'm not alone. In our case - we were in fact "T-boned"
the front facing multi purpose camera is defective with a replacement cost of $1800-$2000. it controls all the lane assist, cruise control, braking functions of the vehicle

5 warning lights on dashboard for lane keeping assist, auto high bean, automatic breaking, collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control. Honda is saying it is the front sensing camera which is disabling these safety features. None of these features are working.

5 emergency lights came on at the same time, we went to the Honda dealer and the problem is the front camera, they told us there, for the diagnosis it was $250 dollars and if we want to fix it it would be $1900, I think that Honda should cover that because it is a car with only 30,000 miles, it is a very expensive repair for a car that is not that old.
While driving the car brakes hard when it thinks that it is going to hit another car even though there is not another car around. We have almost been in multiple accidents because of it. When driving down a winding lane it often shakes the wheel although we are not departing lanes. We do not feel safe while driving the car with this safety feature
My car experience a sudden and catastrophic failure of the multipurpose camera, part number HP36160-THR-A81. Many of the safety features of my car are dependent on this part, which given the age and low mileage of my vehicle has obviously failed prematurely. The safety features impacted on my vehicle by this part failure include ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation and Road Departure Mitigation Systems. I receive continuous warning lights and alarms while driving the vehicle related to these systems. These warning lights and alarms cannot be stopped. Without these systems working properly the vehicle is not safe. I was told that 8tbwpupd cost roughly $1600 to replace the part necessary for these systems to work.

The multipurpose camera in the front windshield has failed, causing the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and correction, forward collision to fail. Even the non-ACC cruise control is locked out due to the failed camera. Honda will charge ~ $1800 to replace, and I can’t afford that. Problem confirmed by Ian’s of Broken Arrow. They confirmed it was the camera and not the radar unit. The failure of the camera causes a host of persistent dashboard warnings, but none preceded the failure.
Started the car one morning and instantly a bunch of warning messages appear on the dashboard stating; 1) Collision Mitigation System Problem 2) Lane Keeping Assist Problem 3) Road Departure Mitigation System Problem 4) Auto High Beam Problem 5) Auto Emergency Braking Problem. There is also a brake system light on now (amber color) due to the above. Never had an issue before now. This is on a honda odyssey 2019 EX with just over 35k miles. Took car to local mechanic who ran diagnostic report and found the following issue; "Integrated driver support/monocular camera driver support system issue; multi-purpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure" Contacted the Honda dealership who want $1500 for a new device and programing; this is disgusting. This issue is so widespread its almost ready to be a full blown recall.

The front facing camera located at the top of the windshield goes bad and affects multiple systems. The manufacturer is aware of this issue. While the part only costs $150 - the dealerships want to charge upwards of $2000 to replace the camera - they say that owners are not allowed to replace it themselves. You cannot disable the advanced features. This issue is extremely common across all Honda models that use this camera.

The Monocular front window camera in 2018-2023 Honda's (odyssey, ridgline, pilot...) fails. This front window camera controls the following safety features: -Lane Keep Assist (LKAS) -Collision Mitigation -Adaptive Cruise control -Lane Departure Mitigation -Rain sensor windshield wipes -Auto High beam -Automatic Emergency Breaking In addition to compromising these safety features when the camera fails, false warnings are repeatedly provided on the dash of the Vehicle, sometimes in a singular and sometimes in a cyclic manner that you cannot get to shut off while driving. Front "camera"/sensor went out, this caused all of the errors to come up and ding repeatedly while driving at a high speed on the interstate. Honda says they won't cover however, this is a safety issue with lots of reports of the same issue in a quick Google search.
2019 Honda Odyssey recently started having these problems intermittently, about 50% of the time I start the car: ACC problem Collision Mitigation Problem Lake Keep Assist Problem Auto High Beam Problem It prevents the front collision mitigation from working.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions. The message "Emission System Failure" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available to repair the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that the repair was not covered under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the messages "Lane Keep Assist Failure", "High Beam Failure", "Cruise Control Failure", "Collision Mitigation Braking System Failure" and other unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

5 system warnings starting appearing simultaneously (Adaptive Crusise Control Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Auto High-Beam Problem). This started a few months ago and occurs every time the car is started, and the errors do not go away after driving for several hours. I have checked all appropriate fuses, as well as the car battery and all seem fine. An internet forum search shows this specific issue is widespread with 2018-2020 Honda Odysseys, but is not being addressed satisfactorily by dealers.

Issue Fuel Pump Recall Report: My vehicle was identified as an affected vehicle of this recall. The designated honda service shop failed to share the recall details when the specified engine stall was reported to the dealership at check in. When the vehicle engine stopped prior to the incident automatic sliding doors also stopped working and one week prior to this the audio and electrical outage on the media console also went out. All of the cracking and sound issues including inability to connect a phone properly via Bluetooth (no handsfree capability) , the screen going black and or just blue without any display. Cruise control has never worked properly and fails to adjust speed or stop accelerating so basically has never been operable. Dealership and Honda recall campaign has failed its clients tremendously on this one. I have zero trust in them or their interest to do the right thing. The safety concern remains: no reliability on speed acceleration on cruise control capabilities, no reliability on reverse cam or view quality, automatic door malfunction not sensing obstruction within a safe time to avoid impact, failure to avoid on coming traffic if the vehicle stalls in the way of high speed traffic or in route on freeway. Safety issue: the failed communication of the recall never ever shared by the dealership while vehicle was brought in for oil changes with diligence. Failure by the dealership to note the explained concerns as part of the nationally acclaimed recall (not in compliance). The dealership not seeing the direct safety obstruction of my (the drivers safety) and passenger safety (minor children) is subject to harm "DAILY" on account of the manufactured malfunctional processes.
Getting the following error messages on 2019 Odyssey: - Brake system lights - Lane keeping assist problem (LKAS); - Auto high-beam problem (A) - Road departure mitigation system problem - Collision mitigation system problem - Adaptive cruise control problem (ACC) - Brake system lights These errors have caused safety issues, especially when someone comes in front of the car randomly or cuts you off. Also, the Brake system lights being on always make you think the brakes will not work when needed. These errors seem to be a known issue with Honda car owners putting drivers at risk and also the passengers.

Received several error messages with collision avoidance, braking, lane keeping, front collision avoidance. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. I had code DTC U3000-49 multipurpose camera unit/ millimeter wave radar internal failure. They could not explain why it would come back on and work for a while and indicated both systems have to be replaced because of their software. I took the vehicle to dealership two months earlier for loss of acceleration and engine not accelerating when pressing pedal. Alternator replace. Upon searching the internet, this seems to be a common issue with the Odyssey dating as far back as 5 years. My errors are the following: -ACC issue -LKAS issue -collision mitigation system -auto high beam problem. I am beyond frustrated because these are all safety related systems. A close friend and master mechanic believes that it is an electrical/ software and not a component issue since the components seem to be functioning at times. I am not sure why all of these systems are failing at once.
Multiple safety system error codes began popping up while driving, transmitted, drive gear "D" on dash was flashing and when I pushed the park shift button it went to neutral for a few seconds before going into park, honda is not sure why error codes won't go away after clearing,

The van suddenly started randomly throwing up a series of 5 different codes, all relating to the forward camera system. It will appear and disappear at random, showing lane keeping assist, forward collision system, adaptive cruise control, automatic dimming headlights and lane departure system failed. There are tons of issues with the car having bad cables/terminals for the rear camera, A/V systems, and SXM antenna, but Honda refuses to admit that the front camera issue is related.

My dash displays errors dealing with the Honda sensing. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. Upon searching the internet for a solution, this seems to be a common issue with Hondas, dating as far back as 5 years. My errors are the following: -ACC issue -LKAS issue -collision mitigation system -auto high beam problem While some complaints date back to five years, it’s very clear the issue is ongoing in Honda odyssey models, as owners, including myself, are still posting to see if there is a fix. Honda’s resolution is to pay them 3k which I find appalling, since it’s very clear that their models are continuing this issue - along with the fact that it is being reported that owners are experiencing issues still.

Random extreme sudden braking (activation of the Cmbs) while driving on the freeway, without any vehicle in reasonable proximity tothe front or to either side. Creates hazardous situation resulting in collision with a car following behind or loss of control. Daytime driving, dry pavement, both sunny and cloudy. Full visibility. This has been ocurring for the last three years, frequently.
On January 18, 2024 I had the following recalls performed on 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite: Auto Idle Stop and the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable. Immediately after the recall work was completed, I began receiving an error code "Collision Mitigation System Problem". The error code would flash after this sequence of events: After my car's engine has come to temperature and is warm. I come to a complete stop, my car goes into Idle Stop and when I release the brake to accelerate and the engine re-engages, this error flashes. And, I can continue to drive. Prior to this recall work, I had never received this error. In addition to this error code, on January 24, 2024, I was at a complete stop on a freeway offramp. When I released the brake and tried to accelerate, my car would not engage and very loud clunk, followed by the orange "Brake System" light flashed on. Eventually my car engaged and we were able to drive. The clunk was so loud my teenage children asked me if we were hit by another car. On, Friday January 25, 2024 after dropping the car off at the dealership we were told that "The diagnostics have revealed a 'defective Multipurpose Camera and AIM'. And, the cost to replace is $1793.77 plus tax.

In early December 2023, while driving, I experienced a sudden malfunction in my LKAS system, receiving a notification that it had stopped working without any prior indications. In response, I promptly pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and restarted it, hoping to clear any error messages. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. Subsequently, I took my vehicle to the Honda service center, where I was informed that the front camera was malfunctioning, triggering multiple error messages such as collision system problems, auto high beam issues, and adaptive cruise control malfunctions—all of which rendered these safety features inoperable. The service center clarified that, while it was deemed safe to drive the vehicle, the automatic braking system and front camera features were unavailable, and any necessary repairs would be at my expense. The paperwork provided indicated the discovery of DTC U3000-49, citing a multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure. Additionally, beyond the LKAS system issue, I have repeatedly encountered difficulties with my vehicle's acceleration. Notably, there is a struggle to accelerate from a complete stop, and a significant delay in acceleration occurs when removing my foot from the gas pedal, especially in the middle of intersections. This delay has resulted in near collisions, with other vehicles honking and, at times, coming dangerously close to colliding with my vehicle. Despite reporting this ongoing acceleration problem to the dealer multiple times, the issue persists and has worsened over time. This comprehensive incident report aims to document and address the technical malfunctions in my vehicle, emphasizing the urgent need for a thorough examination and resolution of these safety concerns.
Over the years of owning this vehicle, we've encountered sporadic electrical problems that have led to the car either stalling or needing a jump start. Despite these issues, inspections of the battery have revealed no obvious problems. Additionally, we've had intermittent system warning messages for features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure. These warnings have surfaced and vanished on multiple occasions. The vehicle has never been in an accident or experienced anything beyond normal operating conditions.

There has been no incident. And I hope there is not. But the forward camera that assists in the road departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation and lane keeping assist has failed. Also inoperative is the cruise control, auto dimming headlamps and the brake system light is on. I find it hard to believe that after some of the less critical recalls that have been sent out for this vehicle that they don’t address this very important safety system. The camera alone costs $800 and that doesn’t include the cost of installation and calibration. I have a family of six and we use this van extensively. But we cannot afford this repair and are forced to drive with all of these lights on in the instruments. We take extremely good care of our vehicles. It is serviced well and has been in no major accidents. Please help us get action for ourselves and others who are in danger
Car Randomly started giving a failed warning sign that the LKAS system has an error. Took it to dealer and they say that the radar and the camera need to be replaced for 4000$. This is so completely random. It just broke on its own. Trunk is not properly sealed resulting in water getting into the trunk and corroding the tailgate control unit, this issue has been reported online hundreds of times. A week after my trunk flooded during heavy rain my car warning lights for the brake system, lane keep assist and several others lit up and wont work, the lights turn on and off intermittently - again this issue is being reported online by multiple owners. This is a known issue Honda refuses to acknowledge or resolve.

These safety features do not function on this vehicle. Issue warning lights when car is started.
My vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes with no warning. The “brake” light for the emergency braking system began flashing at the same time the car began a hard brake. It came to a complete stop in the middle of an intersection and I had absolutely no control over the vehicle. I was very fortunate that it didn’t cause a collision but it came very close. I don’t see how this is a safety feature, it’s incredibly dangerous. The only way to turn it off is to remember to turn it off every time you start the car. Absurd.
Over the last three weeks, there were 3 incidents where the emergency braking system spiked the brakes when there was no reason. There was one incident where the lane departure spiked the brakes for no reason. Over the first 5 years owning the vehicle, this never happened. The first incident was going around a curve on a 2-lane road I travel at least twice a day. It sometimes beeps for cars in the other lane, but has never spiked the brakes until now. The car in the other lane was not over the line. There was a car behind us and they almost hit us due to the rapid braking. Incident 2 was on a straght road when there was a right lane closure with orange cones gradually blocking the lane. I started moving to the left lane well in advance and was most of the way in the lane when the brakes spiked. There was no oncoming traffic, but a car behind me had to brake hard to avoid hitting me. Incident 3 was similar to Incident 2, except there was a box in the road. With a straight road and no oncoming traffic, I was fully in the left lane, avoiding the box, when the brakes spiked. The 4th incident involved spiking the brakes with a lane departure warning. I was going around a curve that I travel at least twice a day. The road was clear and no traffic coming the other way. Going around the left curve in full control, the right lane departure warning sounded and spiked the brakes. The brakes had never applied before in a lane departure scenario. I took the van to the dealer and they made it sound normal, like four improper emergency braking incidents in 3 weeks was a regular occurrence. They tried to duplicate the issue and checked the computer for codes, but found nothing. This does not seem normal to me and is a safety issue that could cause an accident if the car spikes the brakes for no reason like this and someone is following closely, not expecting me to stop.

The front camera is malfunctioning creating the following warnings and preventing safety systems from working properly: 1. Lane Keeping Assist Problem 2. Collision Mitigation System Problem 3. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem 4. Auto High-Beam Problem 5. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem In addition, the "Brake Systems" light is on. This issue not only prevents safety features from functioning, but may mask other issues since the "Brake systems" light remains on at all times. The vehicle has recently undergone the recall repair work for the MOST FAKRA Service Cables. No other mechanical issues were detected by the Honda dealership or an independent Honda certified mechanic.

Over 20 times our van has breaked when it was not needed. This usually happens when going up a hill and turning, or when a car slows but not enough to need to break. In several instances we have almost been rear-ended due to the sudden breaking. We try to turn off the service, but it has to be turned off each time. With the amount of traffic we have in the area, this is very dangerous.

There was no warning display on car today during the incidents. I pressed the breaks and with my foot on the breaks the car accelerates 3 times. I had a car in front of me which is why I stopped but no no one behind me to trigger the car to propel me forward 3 times despite my foot on the brakes. This is second time it does this. I took it in right away to the shop. The first time was a a couple of months before (May 2023) but I had a car behind me so I figured the car took over to avoid a bump in back…but again my foot was on the brakes. And I had a car in front and In back, which could have caused an accident in front. Weird acceleration All the time: When you are at a stop and try to accelerate, the car stalls and then accelerates abruptly. Very dangerous when you have drivers behind you and in front. Collision Mitigation warnings keep popping up since 2022, but shop could not see the issue because the display disappears. It pops up randomly and disappears.

I have a CMBS issue. Nothing around that would trigger it just driving through an intersection and the CMBS came on and basically just stopped the car for no reason. I get these "BRAKE" messages mostly when the car in front of me is turning right and the Odyssey doesn't think I slow down enough. I know the car is turning, the Odyssey doesn't. I've also had it come up a couple times while going around a curve, I think it detected the oncoming traffic as being in my lane and it told me to "BRAKE". I have video files to prove from my dash cams but I could not upload these files here. Honda dealer misdiagnosed to replace power distribution module but it did not fixed and I found other Honda vehicles has the same CMBS issue. Hoping you got some resolution. Thanks.

Three months into purchasing a brand new 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L my car would not start. I was told my battery was drained/bad cell, due to the weather being too cold and all the electrical components of my vehicle. We lived in South Georgia and my van is kept in a garage. I was given a new battery at the beginning of 2019 and now in 2022 I’m told I need another AGM battery because mine is dead. I’m told by the dealership they can’t diagnose the problem exactly, but they are 75% sure this is the issue causing my van not to start, unable to be jump started, code P0600, warning lights stating emissions system problems, break system failure, anti-lock break system failure. Outside of Honda I’m told something is draining my battery, but Honda takes no responsibility and it’s out of pocket for a new $240 battery, which may or may not be the issue. Looking online at customer reviews, I’m not the only person with this issue. MANY MANY MANY Honda Odyssey owners have complained of the same issues and nothing has been done by Honda. My vehicle slammed on breaks driving down the interstate at over 70 MPH while my family was in the car. My doors stop closing if I start the car while the doors are mid-close, it will tell me to apply break while shifting to park even when the break is applied. There is an electrical issue within the Odyssey that needs to be addressed and recalled. These vehicles are too expensive to be malfunctioning and needing replacement parts after 3-4 years. I drove my Toyota to over 350,000 miles and never changed a battery.

In September 2021, I started occasionally receiving the error message "Collision Mitigation System Problem" on my dashboard. It would appear and quickly disappear. At that time, my car shut itself off when I came to a full stop at traffic lights and stop signs 3 different times. The car would boot back up, but it happened to me in the middle of intersections. I took the vehicle into the dealership and they told me it was the battery. I had the battery replaced, but with time, the "Collision Mitigation System" error reappeared along with other messages, "Engine Management System Problem" and "Road Departure Mitigation Problem." During this time, my car would brake on its own occasionally, happening 6 times in total, when there was no threat of a head-on collision. Three of these incidents happened in the middle of intersections with cars all around me and in one instance, my car come to a screeching halt on its own making me terrified that the car behind me was going to crash into me. The last straw was as I was driving to my child's school and when I came to a curve in the road, my steering locked up completely, not allowing me to turn with the curve. I was able to slam on my brakes and keep myself from crashing, but it was very dangerous. At the same time, the same error messages were flooding my dashboard. That is when I drove my just 3 year old car back into the Honda Dealership and told them they must fix this before I put my child back into that car, and my car still sits there. The dealership informed me that my Collision Assistance Camera that is integral to the Honda Sensing safety mechanisms is "faulty" and will cost me $1,500-$1,700 to repair. I see online that this is being investigated in 2017-2019 Honda CRVs and 2018-2019 Honda Accords sedans. I implore you to also investigate this same system error in 2019 Honda Odysseys. The Odyssey is a family car, but yet I am now scared to drive my family in this vehicle for fear of it causing a collision.

I was driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey on the highway and it stopped suddenly in the middle of the highway. The car went to idle mode and changed itself to park gear. We had to off the car and restart it which was dangerous in the middle of the highway. This same incident happened earlier too but in a residential street. We took it to the dealership but they said they couldn’t find anything wrong. Then I heard the news story about nhtsa investigation into this problem with Honda and wanted to report my experience. This is dangerous and they need to figure out what is going on.
I am reporting a very strange occurrence with my 2019 Honda Odyssey mini-van. I was driving on Tuesday evening and it was very foggy and I was approaching one of those large metal plates they put over a trench they dig in the road when they do construction (it covers the trench) and my car started flashing "brake" like it does sometimes when it thinks a car is in front of it. Typically, this flashes occasionally when a car gets too close, but then goes away as long as the car moves out of the way. This time, there was no car, just an open foggy road and this large metal plate on the road. However, as I got closer to the metal plate, suddenly my brakes fully locked up and the vehicle went into an emergency full stop. I was pushing on the accelerator but it would not go and the vehicle came to a complete and sudden stop. Thankfully no one was behind me, or I would have gotten into an accident. Then the vehicle started to move again and has been totally fine since. But, what is this all about? It seems the emergency braking mode kicked in but it should not have, the road was wide open and the only thing unusual was a large metal plate covering some hole in the road.
AUTO EMERGENCY BREAKING: Vehicle OFTEN engages emergency breaking at highway speeds when a vehicle is slightly ahead, in a different lane, and brakes while exiting the highway, and there is no danger or no vehicles directly in front of this vehicle. Other vehicles following behind me have to manually (or automatically as well) brake accordingly and this creates both a nuisance and dangerous situation. Speed Control / Transmission: Vehicle has moved forward while in "Reverse", often "surges" in speed while for a brief moment while shifting, has moved/lurched when starting the engine. THe instance of moving forward while in reverse caused a near miss in hitting another vehicle. The surging, in particular on downhills, causes the vehicle to accelerate slightly.

THERE ARE 2 ISSUES, POSSIBLY RELATED. FIRST OF ALL, WARNING FOR COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM APPEARED AND THEN THE DIGITAL DISPLAY WENT BLANK.THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. IN THE SECOND PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED, A WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF (TOO QUICKLY TO DETERMINE WHAT IT SAID) AND THEN THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION IN BOTH OCCURRENCES.
