A MIL warning was displayed for Emissions System Problem flaging our vehicle for emissions testing and registration. The vehicle skips and does not accelerate well from 20-30mph making turns into a busy street unsafe. The computer reads a DTC of P219A. All of this matches the description in Honda Service Bulletin 21-010 which says it covers 2019 Odyssey of all trim levels. Local Honda dealer (Auto Nation Honda of Chandler in Chandler, AZ) and Honda America both refuse to extend this warenty to our vehicle for repairs. We took it to a third party Honda mechanic for a second opinion and they recommended we follow up on the Service Bulletin 21-010.

The emissions warning comes on and off, the honda dealer said it's a fuel injection system issue. Noted that NHTSA has issued extended warranty for this issue on 2019 Honday Odysseys but my specific VIN is not included. NHTSA needs to extend this issue to additional VINS having this issue as Honda is not covering it.

While parked on Saturday, 9 different warnings popped up including Fuel Emission Issue and Brake Issue. Tried to restart the car and failed. Came back later with a jump start kit assuming it was battery related. Car started up fine and drove it on the highway for 30 minutes. The 9 warnings were still present. Continued using the car on Sunday on 30 minute highway drive without issue. Monday morning noticed the warnings were gone. Continued use. Around noon the warnings came back and the car refused to start. Used a jump start kit to get the engine started, but it could only go about 10mph. Attempting to push the accelerator further would stutter the car. Managed to get it to a shop where they diagnosed the fuel pump motor had failed. They told me that the part was listed in a recall. I looked up the NHTSA number - 23V858000. However, my VIN was not included in the recall.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey has a check engine light on due to failing fuel injectors. Honda service center told me, the Cost to repair would put you out the door @ 1919.38. My car has fewer than 60,000 miles, for me personally, it's a manufacturing fault. After seeing the check engine light, I didn't drive my car other than take it to the Honda service center.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a premature and dangerous failure of the high-pressure fuel pump in my 2019 Honda Odyssey, VIN [XXX] . This component failure occurred while my wife was travelling from New Jersey to central New York on Saturday, August 9, 2025, leaving our vehicle disabled and creating a significant safety risk and financial burden. I am formally requesting full reimbursement for the repair and towing costs. On that date, while [XXX] was driving our vehicle through Jim Thorpe, PA, the fuel pump failed suddenly and without warning. The "emissions system problem" and "brake system problem" messages appeared on the dashboard, and the engine began "coughing" and "stuttering" before losing all motive power. This is an unacceptable and extreme safety hazard for a vehicle of this age (70,000 miles). [XXX] was forced to have the vehicle towed to our local Honda service center, Burns Honda in Marlton, NJ. Technicians at Burns Honda diagnosed the failure, noting diagnostic trouble code P0087, indicating that the rail fuel pressure was too low. According to their report, they confirmed an internal fault with the high-pressure fuel pump after observing the fuel pressure had plummeted from a normal 3000 PSI to just 70 PSI. The necessary repair was a full replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump with Honda-genuine part kit 06161-RLV-305. While I understand my specific VIN may not currently be under an active recall for this component, my research shows that Honda is acutely aware of systemic issues with fuel pumps across its lineup. Honda has issued massive recalls (e.g., NHTSA Campaign Number 23V-799) for fuel pumps in millions of 2018-2020 models, including the Odyssey, Accord, and CR-V. The symptoms described in these official recalls (a potential for the engine to stall or lose power while driving) are identical to what we experienced. Recently Honda has recalled high-pressure fuel pumps manufactured by Hitachi Astemo. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (F

While traveling in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (40,000 mile) the vehicle completely shut off and placed itself into neutral. The warning lights for emissions system problem, brake problem, and parking assist problem lit up on the dashboard. The vehicle went into neutral and would not allow me to drive at all. Then the vehicle shut off all within 30 seconds. The vehicle would then not restart and now i have to get the vehicle towed to the Honda Service Department. After looking through other complaints there is a known recall for manufacturer defected fuel injectors for my year model odyssey but does not appear when i search for recalls. This was an insanely dangerous situation here in Oahu where the traffic is very bad. The vehicle gave no warning or check engine light and we have completed every service for the vehicle. The vehicle just randomly completely shut off and would not restart leaving my family of 5 stranded.

Aug 27, 2025

Over the last year, recorded 13 incidences where car would not accelerate. (It occurred more times, but I did not record it). I wrote down date, time, weather, gas level, temperature, and what the car would not do. Each incidence was the same - the car would not accelerate, despite pressing down (strongly) on the gas pedal. The car would then jerk forward suddenly. This provided concern and danger as it was often as I was trying to turn off a side road, onto a main road (state highway). This often needs to be done quickly as traffic approaches from both sides. There were a couple of instances when a car was approaching and the vehicle appeared to just stop in the intersection before finally picking up. I have definitely had concerns regarding being hit by oncoming traffic. I brought the vehicle in to Honda to assess in ~May/June 2023. They could not replicate the problem and ended up returning the vehicle without any noted actions. I began taking note of when this occurred starting 6/1/2024, and have 13 recorded incidences.

Aug 10, 2025

While accelerating from a complete stop at a red light, immediately after refueling, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion power and forced itself into Neutral without any driver input. The dashboard lit up with numerous system warnings at once, including: •Emissions System Problem •Brake System Problem •ABS Problem •Brake Hold System Problem •Electric Parking Brake Problem •Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem The engine won't start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an active intersection. I attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times with no success. Police responded to the scene, confirmed the vehicle could not be driven, and a tow truck transported it to a nearby Honda dealership. The tow truck driver suspected an alternator failure, but the dealer’s inspection the next day could not reproduce the issue. They reported that the alternator and battery “tested fine” and that no trouble codes were stored in the ECU. No repairs were performed, and no cause was identified. Safety Concern: This incident created an immediate traffic hazard. The vehicle’s sudden loss of propulsion in traffic, combined with the inability to restart, could easily have caused a collision. Multiple critical systems were reported as failed simultaneously, indicating a possible electrical, fuel system, or control module failure. I am aware of similar complaints from other 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey owners in which sudden power loss occurred, often accompanied by numerous system fault messages. Many reports link these events to fuel pump failures, loose battery/ground connections, or transmission control malfunctions. This suggests a broader pattern of intermittent safety-related defects. Requested Action: Please investigate this incident and similar cases for potential design or component defects.

High pressure fuel pump is causing decreased acceleration and lots of noise. Been diagnosed by Honda dealership and other repair shops.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey is experiencing significant fuel system issues that match the symptoms described in NHTSA Recall 21V-215 (Honda fuel pump recall), but my VIN is not currently included. I’ve had repeated problems with: – Engine stalling – Long crank/hard starting – Multiple warning lights – A diagnostic trouble code: P0087 – Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low These issues present a serious safety risk—the vehicle has stalled during driving, including with children in the car. Honda dealers say my VIN is not eligible for recall, but the symptoms align exactly with recalled vehicles. I’m filing this complaint in hopes that NHTSA will investigate potential undercoverage of this recall campaign. My family’s safety is at stake.

Not sure if this is the right complaint form, but we attempted to have a service center address 2 recalls on our vehicle and they would not perform them and would not provide a reason why the recalls were not addressed. The service center is AutoNation Honda in Westminster CO [XXX] ). We dropped our vehicle off on 7/24 for an oil change and to address the recalls. They said the work was complete on Monday 7/28 but would not provide an invoice of work completed. I've attempted to contact the service center by text and phone calls and they are not responsive. I contacted corporate Honda and they confirmed that the recalls have not been addressed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Emissions recall work was completed on the vehicle but the vehicle continues to exhibit "start" issues. The gas pedal can be depressed and a large delay can be experienced in the vehicle responding to the pedal causing the risk of injury and accident. The vehicle was taken to the shop and error code 219 A/B was the problem meaning fuel injectors not working properly and my particular VIN was not under those covered for replacement. Multiple warning lights associated with this problem including Emissions System Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist problem, Power Steering Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Brake Assist Problem. The vehicle had about 95,000 miles when these warnings started.

Intermittent hesitation to accelerate.

May 22, 2025

I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall related to the fuel pump motor (NHTSA Recall 21V215000 and/or 23V858000). In 2024, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to Stevenson Hendrick Honda in an attempt to complete the fuel pump recall. I was informed the part was not available and no repair was completed. I was told to check back later. In preperation for a family road trip I checked back in and was told the part was still unavailable. Unfortunately, I did not receive a written confirmation of these visits. Yesterday (5/21/2025), the vehicle failed to start and had to be towed to the dealership. The error code DTC P0087 (fuel rail/system pressure too low) was logged. I have now been presented with $4,000 in repairs, all related to the same fuel pump issue that should have been corrected under the recall. This failure represents a serious safety concern and has caused financial and logistical hardship. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a failure of Honda to provide timely remedy for a known defect, resulting in vehicle failure and costly repairs for a safety-critical system.

May 19, 2025

Recently got a message on the instrument panel that says "Emission System Problem" with DTC P219A. This is related to faulty fuel injectors. Honda released Service Bulletin 21-010 and extended the warranty to 10y/150,000mi to cover this issue. However, Honda is saying my VIN is not covered by this campaign. From browsing owners forums and talking to the dealer, it seems that many more owners are experiencing this same issue. Clearly the original service campaign did not cover enough VINs. Honda needs to expand the service campaign to cover more VINs to capture all of the faulty fuel injectors.

May 13, 2025

I was driving to work and all of a sudden, the Check Engine light turned on and when I looked at the dashboard, it says Emissions System Problem. As I went home, I purchased an OBD sensor and as I used it, it read P219A which is about fuel injectors replacement. I was searching for answers online and I came across an extended warranty for problems like this with 18-19 Honda Odyssey but it says for certain VIN numbers. I called Honda America and said that my VIN number is not within the list so they are not covering the warranty. Same is true with the dealerships, they said the same thing. As I looked into Odyssey Forum online, a few of us at about 90k mileage has this issue and we were all told that our VIN numbers are not in the list. I do hope you can help us on this that we can be covered by Honda regarding this inconvenience.

May 13, 2025

The fuel injector system is failing. The check engine light came on at around 60k miles and the error code P219A is present for this model. Service Bylletin 21-010 covers Honda Odysseys but do not cover this specific VIN.

Mar 17, 2025

The van stopped without any warning in the middle of a three lane highway. It could not be moved without a tow truck, We sat in a busy traffic lane at considerable risk. The Honda dealer that repaired the vehicle replaced the 06161-RLV-305 fuel pump. this was a very dangerous situation. The repair cost $1089.

Mar 16, 2025

A recall on December 18, 2023, covered the fuel pump on certain 2019 Honda Odyssey models. Mine was included. The problem has not been repaired because the dealer has told me several times that the necessary parts are unavailable. It has now been 15 months since the recall was issued. I am becoming increasingly afraid to drive this vehicle. Can you tell me how long I must wait?

Mar 6, 2025

Honda of America has released a warranty extension for "MIL comes on with DTC P0420/P0430, P030X, and/or P219A/B". My vehicle fits under the mentioned engine codes however, is deemed ineligible for the extended warranty. This issue with the faulty fuel injectors is a known issue that Honda has agreed to fix but is not willing to fix certain vehicles under the same warranty extension. This is a damaging part to the engine if left undealt with.

Feb 26, 2025

Dash warning lights for engine code P2019 associated with the fuel injectors come on and off intermittently. Honda has said my injectors are not under recall despite other 2019 odysseys having been recalled for this same issue. Transmission has expired hesitation in shift moving from a complete stop and acceleration.

Feb 17, 2025

Vehicle has been experiencing intermittent instances of non movement when gas pedal has been pushed. This has come about sporadically and only been rectified only when vehicle driver has repeated action of "pumping" the gas pedal. In this instances, the situation has put driver and occupants at risk as it happens without warning, not allowing vehicle to drive when cars are fast approaching. Driver will attempt to move from a stopped position to drive and car has not moved. More so, we have a slight incline from our drive way, leading on to a VERY busy road that reaches speeds of 50+ mph. There has been instances where we have attempted to enter the road way from the driveway with approaching vehicles, very far away. Once break pedal was released, the car (due to being on a minimal incline) has begun to roll into the roadway. Driver then proceeds to press the gas pedal down to initiate movement, but vehicle does not move, driver repeats action and car begins to slowly move creating near dangerous heart pounding scenarios where the approaching vehicles that were very very far away when deciding to enter roadway to slamming on their breaks to avoid collision. Vehicle then began displaying an EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM warning on dashboard. This prompted us to take it to an independent mechanic. Mechanic read the code and right away suggested we contact the dealer, as this is a "known issue" for Honda and the Odysseys and the faulty fuel injectors causing the dashboard light and vehicle not to move when gas pedal is initiated. Local Honda dealership requested vehicle be brought in for diagnostic. We paid $185 to learn what we already knew. Honda has issued an extended warranty on 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys for fuel injector issues but only to certain VIN #s. Upon researching in online forums, many customers with affected year Odysseys are being denied warranty extension due to VIN #s not qualifying. This issue is clearly larger than picked and chosen VIN #s

There is an active recall for my fuel pump and I’ve tried several times to get it fixed and they refuse to fix it

Jan 24, 2025

My van regularly hesitates from the stopped position. This often causes a safety hazard when turning right into traffic or making a left turn because I am not able to accelerate for several seconds and the vehicle feels as if it is stalling out. It is a known mechanical defect with Honda and they do not currently have a resolution. When reported, I was told the mechanical system defects to switching through all the gears before accelerating, causing the delay. Not only does this cause performance issues, there have been several close calls when I have made a left turn/ right turn into traffic and the vehicle hesitates for a few seconds

Dec 27, 2024

Since purchasing the vehicle, I've had several incidents where my safety and those inside my vehicle are compromised due to the loss of drive power and stalling of the vehicle while driving. I've complained to the dealer for which they continued to assure me that there was no problem detected during the safety inspections. Recently I received the recall notice to replace the fuel pump module which was causing the issues that I've experienced with my vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 11/11/24, where it was serviced to correct the recall issues. However, I continue to have the same problems of stalling and loss of drive power when driving the vehicle. There are no warning lamps or other issues detected by the dealer according to their safety inspection. My safety and the safety of my passengers, continues to be put at risk. While driving in the highway it is especially dangerous because when I'm changing lanes the vehicle will not accelerate putting me at a risk for a collision. When I am turning left into a street, I feel that it looses power and am stalled in the middle on the street risking yet again a collision. These incidents occur at least 90 percent of the time when driving.

Mileage: 76,000

Dec 23, 2024

The vehicle has been occasionally stalling starting early 2024, maybe sooner. I had the fuel pump recall done recently. The vehicle is still stalling, and it seems to be getting worse. The stalling happens when driving at speed, even over 70+ mph. No warning lights. But rpms drop to almost zero for a few seconds and accelerator is unresponsive. Then it comes back after a few seconds. This is dangerous. Especially on busy highways.

Dec 21, 2024

Fuel injectors failed. Exact same issue that was recalled in the 2018 and 2019 Oddysey. Confirmed by local mechanic that referred me to a Honda dealership since it was a known recall. Dealership confirmed it’s the exact same issue that has been occurring. Opened a case and Honda did nothing. Because my vin wasn’t included in the recall, yet. Looking to get the recall extended to other vins because it’s the same issue.

Dec 9, 2024

I received a safety recall notice from Honda which is informing me that the parts for the fuel pump recall are now available. However, the second sentence of the letter states that the recall applies to 2018-2023 CR-V vehicles and I own a Honda Odyssey, not a CR-V. The letter is confusing since I do not own a CR-V.

Dec 5, 2024

On May 20, 2024, I brought my Honda Odyssey to the Wesley Chapel Honda location to address the fuel pump recall. My vehicle had been exhibiting symptoms consistent with the recall, including hesitation followed by delayed acceleration, which almost caused a collision. This occurred twice at an intersection and another time while changing lanes, among other times that fortunately were not close calls. Both times at the intersection I was going straight, the vehicle turning left coming from the opposite direction assumed I was not paying attention or letting them go due to the hesitation, when the vehicle jolted forward as I was still attempting to accelerate. I was informed that a diagnostic fee would apply if the issue was found to be unrelated to the recall. I received a call stating the problem did not appear to be the fuel pump. Instead, I was advised to proceed with a throttle body cleaning and fuel induction service at a cost of $550.51 but that it would correct the issue. I either had to complete this service, or deny it, however, still be charged. After picking up the vehicle, the stalling and hesitation persisted. Within 48 hours, the issue reoccurred while my learner-licensed daughter was driving, and it has continued since then. I immediately reported this to the service advisor but have been reluctant to return to any of your locations due to concerns about incurring another diagnostic fee or undergoing unnecessary repairs. I recently received another notice about the fuel pump recall and the offer of a free repair. However, my confidence in Honda's ability to resolve this issue is nonexistent after my prior experience. I had requested a refund for the previous repair, as it failed to address the problem. Had I known it would not resolve the issue, I would not have consented to the service. At this point, I believe that American Honda or the dealer has failed to remedy the defect in my vehicle without charge and within a reasonable amount of time.

Dec 2, 2024

Honda has not completed the recall in a timely manner. I was notified in February of 2024 about the fuel injector recall. I have called multiple times and also requested the recall be performed when my vehicle was in the dealer’s shop. However, I was always told the parts are not available or my model is not the highest priority. The dealer kept pushing the time out for when I could have the recall performed. Currently, they are saying April of 2025.

Nov 14, 2024

approximately one year ago a safety recall was issued by Honda on 12/18/23 re Honda Odyssey fuel pump issues. Yet one year later it is not appear urgent enough to Honda or NHTSA because it still cannot be repaired/replaced. Does NHTSA really care about driver safety?

my odyssey falls under the dec 2023 fuel system recall. my van has the symptoms but no check engine light. ive made honda aware, but still no parts available to fix. ive been told they wont fix unless the check engine light is on, this is unacceptable especially when its a RECALL that has to be fixed. symptoms have gotten worse and im honestly ready to trade in the van if honda wont repair it. this is unacceptable, its almost a year since the recall was issued.

Oct 11, 2024

There has been an open recall on my vehicle for 10 months but the carmaker and dealerships are refusing to fix it. They are claiming "parts availability" but it has been 10 months now and they are selling the part online for profit. They are also using parts to sell new vehicles for profit before addressing the safety issue for existing owners.

Car hesitates upon acceleration passing through approximately 2000 rpm. Does not duplicate every time. Dealer will not replace high pressure fuel pump.

Sep 9, 2024 Crash

My 2019 Honda Odyssey was involved in a total loss car accident recently on Aug 20 2024. The cause was delayed acceleration due to a fuel pump recall by Honda Motor Corp from Dec 2023; and to date they have failed and neglected to provide the part to repair. For over a year I have experienced delayed acceleration issues with this auto. I purchased this auto new from the local dealer in 2019 and have constantly experienced, reported and paid thousands to repair and address transmission and delayed acceleration issues. Now this resulted in my inability to accelerate from a stop position resulting in another vehicle directly crashing into mine. Researching similar issues reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it appears I'm not alone. In our case - we were in fact "T-boned"

Sep 5, 2024

Fuel pump died while driving on highway causing the engine to stall and vehicle to shift into neutral at highway speed. Also lost power brakes while attempting to pull over to shoulder due to stall. Further, when tow truck arrived we could not shift vehicle into neutral to place it on truck bed as the gear shifter is electronic and requires engine to be on to shift out of park. No check engine lights were on prior to this event. When the event occurred, the vehicle cycled through multiple warnings on the dash. This was extremely frightening as our whole family was in the van and we could have been killed if we lost control or if we were unable to pull over where we did. Thankfully we were in a spot where we could pull off the highway. Fuel pump was previously replaced within the last couple of years as part of a recall. New pump should not have failed this early. Dealership confirmed faulty fuel pump and replaced under extended warranty on 9/4/2024. It is unknown if they kept the faulty part. I am now afraid to drive the vehicle as the fuel pump may fail again.

While driving my car I have felt it stalling at take off or while slowing down and trying to resume speeds. I cannot fill my gas tank up fully, and now my car will not start. We researched and found that we can tap the fuel relay under the steering wheel to start the car. We’ve taken the car in to the dealership and they will not even check the fuel pump recall because they do not have the parts. They tell me my battery is bad. But when we take the battery to replace it is good. I am now without a working vehicle because the dealership will not resolve the issue of the recall.

Aug 21, 2024

Trying to drive across a road and the van started and stopped and just went again and I almost got tboned.

Aug 1, 2024

My 2019 Honda Odyssey has had issues with engine hesitation since purchase, but have worsened in the last year to the point that I am concerned I will be in an accident. When creeping forward at a lower speed (5-8mph) to make a turn, the engine hesitates for several seconds, delaying my ability to turn and causing me to then turn seconds before another car is approaching me. I am in a Honda facebook group and many people report similar issues without any fix. I have taken my car to the dealership and they do not see any issues. I recently had my fuel pump recall done (I basically had to beg the dealership to do it despite them telling me Honda is short on supplies), and the issue is still present. The issue is worse in colder weather. I drive with 3 kids in the backseat. This issue needs to be addressed.

Jul 30, 2024

Step on accelerator and no acceleration, hesitation and have to push farther down on accelerator. Sometimes that works other time I have to let of accelerator and push again to go. Nearly cause accident multiple times.

Jun 22, 2024

Problems with vehicle starting. Vehicle feels like it will stall while driving or feel loss of power. The stall/loss of power happens 4x/month. Fuel pump O ring was once replaced with complaint with dealer. 2nd complaint with dealer lead to no conclusions. Diagnostics run and test drive. No warning lights or messages. Remain to have issues. Called Honda directly and sent information last week.

Jun 12, 2024

While driving the vehicle it has lost ability to accelerate and it has stalled It is entirely due to the fuel pump issue on the previous recall and i have attempted to reach the dealer however they dont have the parts

Jun 6, 2024

Car surges when accelerating from a stop, I believe this happens when it is transitioning from 1st to 2nd gear under the automatic transmission. It feels like a hard shift. I brought this up to the dealership the following week after I bought the car CPO, but they said it was normal for the cvt transmission. Since then, I have just dealt with it and was extra careful with acceleration from a stop. It is a consistent issue that can be minimized by stepping on the accelerator very slowly. I bring this up again because my cousin was driving my car and said "this is undriveable" and he felt the lack of control in the low speed range due to this surge at around 15 mph could be unsafe in city and bumper to bumper driving.

Jun 6, 2024

Regarding NHTSA Number 24-022. I have called the dealership many times and everytime they kept saying they will contact me when the parts are available for the recalled item. I wonder if my acceleration surge at 15mph is related to this recall. I have received multiple emails and letter correspondence regarding this recall, but everytime I call, no Honda dealership seems to have the parts to fix this. I find it unacceptable that it has been almost a year since I heard about the recall and there still has not been a legitimate attempt to fix this issue. It's negligence and make me lose confidence in Honda. I've never had a recall item take so long before.

Jun 4, 2024

We have had repeated incidents with the vehicle since late 2023. The vehicle begins to jump and a long and seemingly random list of dashboard indicators turns on. When we first sent the vehicle in for diagnosis they could not replicate the issue, dealt with a seatbelt related safety recall and "reset the computer". This decreased the incidence of the issue temporarily. All routine maintenance has been performed on the vehicle. The battery has been replaced twice because that was the best guess of what was causing the previous issue. A few months later, the issue started again. Random indicators, sometimes power steering, sometimes temperature gauge, sometimes othes lights in rapid succession. We again took the vehicle to dealership of purchase and they were unable to replicate the issue (and unable to deal with a fuel pump issue with a multi-month backlog for the part). Finally, while driving on the interstate today the vehicle began to lurch repeatedly and the random list of seemingly every indicator lit up again (see photo), including the power steering failing. The vehicle is completely inoperable and was towed to the dealership.

Jun 1, 2024

Trying to complete recall and they say they will not have the parts until the fall. We’ve already had one incident of power loss and do not feel safe in the car. Honda has provided no recourse or remedy in a timely manner.

May 29, 2024

On numerous occasions while driving, once you hit the gas to either pass someone on the interstate or pull out on a road, you lose drive power. It is like trying to drive while in neutral. I know there is a recall on this van and I went down to Hilton Head Honda today with my recall notice to have it replaced to avoid my wife having an accident due to this recall issue. Instead of replacing the part they are charging me $175.00 to clean the throttle due to sticking! This is ridiculous considering it isn't the issue. They are refusing to replace the fuel pump that Honda has deemed defective! The description on the recall is EXACTLY what we are experiencing and have been experiencing for the last 3 months! Having to spend money on a mute issue instead of doing what Honda is requiring is unacceptable and illegal! I am happy to fix any issue once they replace the faulty fuel pump. The bait and switch method may have worked for other owners but not for me! I would like them to do the right thing and fix it.

We were out side. My engine wouldn’t start and fuel pump and battery lights lit up on desk board. I asked for help and was able to jumpstart the car- I started driving with my kids in car seats and on freeway 7-8 minutes after starting car it went to Neutral while driving its own. And speed went down its own to 20 MPh from 60 on freeway. Was able to mange to mange to take nearest exit and go to nearest open parking lot. Where was not able to shut down the car or put it in the park. I called my insurance to tow my car. And also called family member. Who came and after locking and unlocking they were able to turn off the car. And also start the car. So stared car again this time it shows only “ engine light on and emission issues “ no battery sign. and and in 3 mins in the driving again went to Neutral again. Again we had to find emergency parking lot. Turned off the car and turned on again. And then drove to home with 20 MPH. As soon as speed goes up it goes to neutral. I tried to drive to Bell Honda dealer to drop off my car and again went to neutral so had to towed my car to them. I have asked them to help me with recall issues but they said they don’t have any parts yet from Honda itself and will be available in August or September . I am really concerned with my experience that I had with my kids in car seats on freeway. And seems like I’m not getting any help to get it repair. Also thinking that this might be battery issue but I have replaced my battery in 2020 and again in September 2022 and Honda dealer said we have to change the battery again. I am really concerned that with barely 40k miles on my car - new model 2019 and in 5 yrs this is the 3rd time battery replacement required. And the fuel recall they are not able to fix given Honda is not able to provide the part. Please help

Nothing has happened, yet, but we've received multiple recall notices from Honda who refuses to fix the problems. They keep claiming they don't have the parts, and it's been six months since you issued the recall. Why do we have to keep driving a car that could fail at any time? Why don't you force them to fix all the recalled cars? The recall number is 23V-858. Thank you for whatever you can do to get Honda to fix our Odyssey.

My 2019 odyssey has occasionally stalled while at lights. We had received the safety recall in the mail months ago. Though it states they currently have NO FIX for this dangerous issue and that you have an increased risk of crash or injury. And that it wont be able to pass emissions. TODAY my vehicle stalled out while in motion. While transporting my four small children. By the grace of God it didnt result in an accident. I contacted my local honda dealer who told me to contact America Honda since they have no fix per honda for the recall at this time. I did so and they told me they cant do anything about it and to contact my dealer. They do not provide loaners for any reason no matter the safety concern. The check engine light it also on due to the issue and wont be able to pass emissions later on, and america honda says oh well, contact your local dealer. They should have an answer. They have stated to me that america honda hasn’t relayed information to them and dont know what to do at this point. My family’s safety is in danger because Honda cant find a fix. What do I do?

Apr 22, 2024

My check engine light came on along with an "Emissions System Problem" error around 68,000 miles. Upon checking out the car, my local Honda dealer found error code P219-B which indicates that the fuel injectors need to be replaced. The dealership stated that this is a known issue with multiple Honda TSB service bulletins regarding regarding problem. Honda has extended the warranty for fuel injectors to 150,000 miles, but only for a certain VIN range, from which my vehicle is excluded.

The Car hesitates when I press on the gas to go forward, making turns, and pull off from stop signs, or traffic lights.

Sudden Loss of Acceleration/Unpredictable Acceleration: Pressed accelerator to enter highway from rolling stop going around 10-20mph. ZF 9-Speed transmission hesitated, attempted to downshift & vehicle suddenly lost transmission & possibly went into neutral and/or transmission failed on highway. Dashboard indicated Emissions System Problem" & "Transmission Problem" Vehicle would not shift back into gear & vehicle was subsequently towed. Prior to this event, vehicle had occasional 0.5 - 2 second hesitations when downshifting & exhibited rare occasional metal clanking sounds when downshifting beginning around 70,000 miles. Additionally. transmission had unpredictable significantly delayed shifts that resulted in subsequent surges of power that were enough to screech the tires on acceleration.

I was patient throughout the 2 previous Odyssey recalls (which took HONDA months to remedy) but, since, according to HONDA, fuel pump recall # 23V-858 poses a clear SAFETY RISK: If the fuel pump module is inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury -- I cannot be patient again. My vehicle, which seats 8, is regularly used to transport people from [XXX] of age. If this vehicle should stall on the busy [XXX] highway, or even just fail to start on a hot Florida day, it could have serious consequences for the occupants. I have reached-out to Honda Corporate, and my local Honda Dealer (where I bought the car) but neither would even offer a guess as to how/when this unacceptable SAFETY RISK will be corrected on my vehicle. Thus far, I've had no obvious issue with the fuel pump defect; please help me resolve the issue before my lucks runs out. Many thanks in advance. Fuel injector went bad in 2019 odyssey. Certain 2019 odyssey covered under extended warranty. My vehicle is not covered. Just have 64000 mile on it.

Engine is making rattling sounds and heavy fuel smell for the past 6 months. I gave a video of the loud knocking my car is making. It also has a 10-45 second delay when pushing the gas pedal and actually accelerating.

Manufecture will only have the parts in the falls. How am I going to be able to work if I have a recall and this is causing an issue in my company that I work for?

Jan 26, 2024

I have not experienced a problem YET but a problem has been identified and a safety recall has been issued. A problem resulting in serious injury or death could occur while in traffic, but Honda has decided that it will delay replacing a potentially faulty part until I either have a problem or they have taken care of vehicles that have already experienced a problem. I tried to get an appointment but was told they could not request a part for my vehicle because I have not experienced a problem. Unacceptable.

- Fuel injectors all need to be replaced - Cylinder misfire on a very new vehicle that should be relied upon - Dealer confirmed fuel injectors need to be replaced. Stated that this is a very common issue "I've seen a million of these". I asked why it would fail so early in the car's life and the dealer stated "problem with the milling process ... small needle like pieces break off and clog" - No - Check engine light came on for "Emissions system failure"

Jan 6, 2024

Warning lights started being displayed stating that multiple vehicular functions were not working. (Vsa stability, emissions system, brake system, brake hold system, power steering problem) Upon inspection at the dealership I was told it was a fuel injector problem and it was not covered under the recall. The fuel injector is currently on back order and I have been waiting several weeks for a part. The estimate that was given to me was around $1200. I believe this should be covered by Honda

When I start the engine, I switch the gear from parking to drive mode and give it a gas, but the gas doesn't reach the engine the way it should, then after it starts running super fast even if I barely give it a gas, the timing belt is now making a cranking noise. Dealers told me it was an engine problem inside the engine. The dealer mechanic are even very surprised why this happened and after again I took it to other mechanics, and they told me the same thing and also they told me about the recall and after I've seen a recall on Honda Odysseys with different VINs, but my car has the same problem (NHTSA Campaign Number 23V-751). This issue is a manufacturer's issue and my car has 118,000 miles on it. I just bought it six months ago for $37,000 and it's out of warranty. I need help. All the mechanics suggested it has a manufacturing problem including the dealer mechanics, also they advise me to this page to report and get some help.

The vehicle listed above with Vin [XXX] often does not takeoff properly. When pressing the gas, it lunges forward as though it did not receive any gas to the engine or the engine stalls, or does not operate correctly. This issue has been addressed with several mechanics, and no pertinent ruling has ever been established as to why the vehicle does this. On multiple occasions when traveling at a low rate of speed when the accelerator is pushed there is no response for up to 2-3 seconds then the car suddenly accelerates forcefully because the gas pedal has been pushed to the floor with no response. It has mostly happened when we are making a left hand turn and have slowed. Due to the seconds of delay we have been almost t boned and are hesitant to make a left hand turn if there is any traffic because we don't know if the car will immediately accelerate or if it will hesitate. We are able to reproduce it to some extent by accelerating the car to about 5-7 mph, letting off the accelerator and then reapplying pressure to the accelerator. We took the car to the dealership and they reproduced it and contacted the Honda techline who told them it is normal. It has been scary for myself and my wife and does not feel normal for the car to have a complete delay in response and then over respond.

This vehicle decelerates or loses power while driving . This has happened 3x. Also vehicle is lag in accelerating from take off, my fear of getting t-boned if it stalls Most recent date below. Has been taken to dealer numerous times

For over a year, when ever I press on the gas to accelarate the car stalls and this is very dangerous as it could cause an accident. It is not related to being low on gas as it happens even the the tank if full. The most recent issue happened yesterday. I was on a stop sign, and when I pressed the gas to go, the car moved forward a bit and then it stalled, leaving me on the middle of the intersection about to get hit by upcoming traffic. I was able to press the gas a couple of time and get car moving, but I was about to get him. A few weeks ago, again I had a similar situation. I was at a red light, and when I pressed on the gas, my car stall and wouldnt move, causing everyone behind me to honk their horns. I once again then to press the gas a couple of time for car to move. In addition, a few weeks ago, I was yieling to enter a highway, and when I press the gass to speed up and enter it, the car once again stall and was about to get hit by upcoming traffic. The issue is not related to gas tank, as I just recently had that replace after it suddently rip. Not sure how that happen, maybe another think to consider looking into. When I advised the dealership of such, they said stalling is normal due to type of engine. There is nothing normal of putting your life at risk. This is an accident waiting to happen.

Sep 2, 2023

The defective part is the fuel pump it cause the vehicle to stall when operating, increasing the chance of a crash. Also the car won’t start. Took the car to the dealer and gave me an estimate.

Under certain conditions, the accelerator pedals fails to provide propulsion when depressed. The most common scenario in which this happens is when leaving a parking area and proceeding onto a roadway, especially if the parking area is elevated above the street slightly. The driver depresses the accelerator pedal slightly to move the car from a standstill, but then releases the accelerator due to the slight downhill, or transition onto the roadway. When the accelerator pedal is depressed again, nothing happens. Often the pedal will travel all the way to the floor with no result. Or sometimes, the engine/transmission "catches" and an abnormally large amount of power results in spinning tires. In any case, this is extremely dangerous, and has nearly caused accidents with oncoming traffic when pulling out onto busy streets. It happens fairly reliably, approximately 70% of the time when depressing the accelerator pedal more than once. I have not sought dealer service on this yet but will be in the coming weeks.

On June 16, 2023 When I got in my van and turned on, about 8 different system failure lights started singing and light up across my dashboard. I proceeded to drive it and it drove fine most of the time but then it would misfire or loose power. I took to a mechanic who plugged unit to read all the codes it was displaying. The ones that showed were P0300-P0306 and P219B. The mechanic pulled up and saw an extended warranty from Honda had been issued for my type of van, 2019 Honda Odyssey Touring. I called Honda to make appt to get fixed and was told that my VIN wasn’t included in the extended warranty. My van is displaying the exact issues the extended warranty covers and is clearly in need of the corrective actions listed by Honda. My gas mileage has been greatly affected and my and my children’s safety. When driving it will loose power and become very jumpy. When it looses power, there are times I’m going 50-60 mph and it’s dangerous because I suddenly drop speed and could potentially be hit. There have been codes in the past that have come on and when checked they signified dirty fuel injectors and cylinder misfires. The warning messages would go off just as randomly as they appeared. This time it’s different and the lights have stayed on. I am pleading with NHTSA to please consider including my VIN/van in a safety recall. This is an issue that Honda should address to all 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys and not just the few it knows about. The fuel injector machining process is clogging the inside of the injectors. Honda knows this. It’s dangerous to those of us who purchased their vehicles.

On 7/24/2023, my 2019 Honda Odyssey hesitated on start but did eventually start after a 5- second delay. After 6 miles on road, the car began to hesitate, choked, decelerate on its own even with foot on gas petal, and finally won't move an inch. The following warning lights were triggered: Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Emissions System Problem, Power Steering System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, and also To Start Engine: Brake + Push. The 2019 Honda Odyssey was towed to the Honda Dealer near me. They kept the car overnight and it stalled and died on them too. The dealer said the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I collected my memory and recall the car has experienced jerky moments at times lately. This strike me as a prematurely dead fuel pump as fuel pumps are designed to last at least 100,000 miles of the life of the car. I found out that there was a fuel pump recall in 2021 but I did not receive any notification. With a prematurely dead fuel pump and my experience, I believe this car should be part of the recall as the defect may be more widespread, affecting more than just what the Honda manufacturer has recalled. Furthermore, this is my third Honda, but this has brought many problems causing me to have called AAA 4-5 times so far and towed twice in the last couple of years.

Van just randomly wouldn't start, has nothing to do with battery. I was told it was the fuel pump, saw a recall for fuel pump. Looked up to see if my vehicle was under the recall, but it said it wasn't.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey regularly hesitates from the stopped position or when quick acceleration is needed on the highway. This causes a safety hazard when making turns into traffic because I am not able to accelerate for approximately 1 second before I am able to increase speed. It is a known mechanical defect with Honda and they do not currently have a resolution. I reported this problem to my dealership and was told that this is "just how the Honda 9-speed transmissions are designed" and there is no fix. Not only does this cause performance issues, there have been several close calls when I have made a turn into traffic and when I have had to accelerate to make a lane change on the freeway.

Our approximately 50,000 mile Odyssey died while driving on Mar 25, 2023. Thankfully the vehicle was only going about 10 MPH as I was pulling up to a stop sign. First failure notice was “emissions system problem” and then every error available to the system flashed after that. Would not restart. Towed to dealer and found no fuel pressure and fuel pump failure. I was never given notice of the fuel pump recall and this website says all my recalls are complete. Clearly there was an issue with the fuel pump. The replacement fuel pump is on back order with no ETA for availability. Vehicle has sat at the dealer for 4 weeks with no estimate for when it will be available for us. I speculate that Honda hasn’t told everyone about the fuel pump recall in the hopes that the pumps don’t disintegrate in the tanks while driving because they mismanaged their supply chain. Could be months before a “like-new” vehicle is drivable again.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM: vehicle hesitates at times when stepping on gas pedal and then just blasts off. When entering a roundabout after a standstill, the power is not there, oncoming traffic is still advancing. First reported and assesssed on 5/19/20 with software update performed. Issue has never been resolved completely. No warning lamps or messages ever appeared.

Several times when I ja e pushed the gas to try and hurry to go the van will stall and won't go almost cause me to get in an accident each time. The last time(1/16) I actually had passengers in my van and it scared the crap out of them and me. It seems like when I punch the gas pedal it isn't getting the gas to go right away. I had it checked out at a Honda dealership but they said the van didn't do what I was explaining. It doesn't do it all the time, however if it wasn't for the grace of God and me having a quick reaction to hit my brake after the van hesitates to go, I and some other people either wouldn't be alive right now or would be severely injured.

Jan 20, 2023

When I try to accelerate it won’t go sometimes! It hesitates until it just blasts off. Emissions System Problem

Jan 13, 2023

The low pressure fuel pump has failed. Honda has issued recall #21V215000 in March of 2021 regarding this issue on almost a million vehicles. My vehicle has failed, leaving me without transportation in the winter. Thankfully the car just failed to restart and I wasn't in traffic but this could absolutely happen to others (as described in the recall) so it is apparent that Honda was not genuine in their attempt to fix this problem as there are obviously other models in the year & model range they recalled that are being exempted from the recall that are destined to fail.

Our car has failed to start 3 times in one week. Our battery has been throughly inspected and nothing appears to be wrong with it. We have jump-started our car in July, and twice this week. (Once yesterday and once today.) We are not sure why this is the case.

BRAUN WHEELCHAIR CONVERSION ON 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY. GAS OVERFLOWS FROM BELOW DUE TO GAS LINE IN FUEL TANK. FUEL TANK REPLACED ON HONDA BY BRAUN, BRAUN HAND BUILDS THE DEFECTIVE TANK. FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO COME BECAUSE OF ALL THE GAS OVERFLOWING UNDER VAN. I HAD FILLED THE GAS TANK NIGHT BEFORE, 12-16 HOURS LATER WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVE WAY GAS WAS LEAKING ONTO DRIVEWAY AT LEAST 2 GALLONS. LOOKED LIKE A SLOW DRIP THAT TIME I SAW IT WAS A SPEWING FAUCET. I HAD VAN TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP BUT WAS TRANSFERRED TO BRAUN DEALERSHIP. BRAUN IS GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER FUEL TANK AFTER JAN 6 IN INDIANA THEN SHIP TO LUBBOCK TEXAS END OF JAN, EARLY FEB. SAME SET UP ! I DON'T WANT THIS UNSAFE VAN THAT MAY AGAIN SPEW GAS AND HIGH RISK FOR EXPLOSION OR FIRE.

CAR HAS UNDER 7000 MILES. ENGINE STRUGGLES WITH POWER IN LOWER GEARS. THERE IS ALSO A JUMP WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO FORWARD. THE JUMP FEEL LIKE A TRANSMISSION GEAR TRANSFER ISSUE. TODAY AS AN EXAMPLE, WHEN DEPARTING FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I HAD TO FULLY COMPRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO GET THE ENGINE TO RESPOND. IN GENERAL, THE LOWER GEARS FEEL SLUGGISH AND THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE SINCE PURCHASE. THE ENGINE SIMPLY SOUNDS DIFFERENT THAN ANY OF OUR PREVIOUS HONDA ODYSSEY'S. AT HIGHER SPEEDS, ON A HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE IS RESPONSIVE. WE'RE IN A DO LOOP WITH MECHANICS AS THE PROBLEM IS NOT ALWAYS REPEATABLE. HOPE THIS HELPS IF YOU START SEEING TRENDS.

UPON STARTUP OF THE VEHICLE, A STRONG BURNING SMELL WAS SENSED. THE VEHICLE WAS BRIEFLY PUT INTO A SLOW REVERSE TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE GARAGE AND A VERY ROUGH IDLE STARTED, BLACK SMOKE APPEARED OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE AND EVERY POSSIBLE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ONE AFTER THE OTHER ON THE DASH. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN BRIEFLY PUT INTO DRIVE FOR A COUPLE INCHES FORWARD BACK INTO THE GARAGE WITH VERY LITTLE POWER ON ACCELERATION AND AN EVEN STRONGER BURNING SMELL. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HAVING THE CAR TOWED IN TO BE EVALUATED. UPON EVALUATION THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE ISSUE WAS A LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR CAUSED BY A FAULTY FUEL RAIL DESIGN FROM THE FACTORY. THE INJECTOR LEAK CAUSED TOO MUCH FUEL TO BE PUT INTO THE CYLINDER CAUSING THE SPARK PLUGS TO FOWL OUT. THE DEALER STATED HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE ALSO IN 2018 MODELS AND THEY ASSUMED THEY WOULD HAVE CORRECTED THE FUEL RAIL DESIGN FOR THE 2019 MODEL. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT MAKE ANY REPAIR UNTIL THE REDESIGNED FUEL RAIL WAS RELEASED A MONTH FROM NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW 2 MONTHS AGO AND CURRENTLY HAS APX 5,000 MILES. THE FACT THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY AN ERROR IN THE FUEL RAIL DESIGN FROM THE FACTORY INDICATES THE PROBLEM LIKELY HAS BEEN CAUSING DAMAGE AND POSING A SAFETY RISK OF POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE FROM THE LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR THE ENTIRE 5,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. ALSO, IT IS UNKNOWN HOW THE LEAK MAY AFFECT THE ENGINE IN THE FUTURE DUE TO THE LEAK AND DESIGN FLAW PERSISTING SINCE IT WAS SOLD NEW FROM THE FACTORY.
