today ( Dec 30, 2025) . my wife was driving my HONDA ODYSSEY on Highway 287 east NJ ( closed to livingston NJ ) . Here is the whole thing : The ODYSSEY suddenly stopped while my wife was downshifting. At that time, there was a car in front of our car at least 30 feet away. Once the car stopped almost completely. Some red warning letters were shown on the front dashboard. But since we all filled in in a big panic, no one saw what those words were. At that time, we felt the minivan vibrating. That is all we could recall since we were still trying to calm down. I am not sure it was still the same problem with the transmission we reported months ago. That is the whole store for today. And I also attached the last note I sent to you. Hi , To whom it might concern, To further the conversation, we had talked with the local Honda dealer, and they had test-driven it several times, but they insist there are no problems at all. They suggested that we replace the transmission fluid to improve the performance. We replaced it in the dealer store. But from the fall of this year, 2025. We feel the odyssey has the same problems again : 1. The vehicle struggles to accelerate quickly when the accelerator is pressed. 2. The vehicle accelerates, but there is a noticeable jerking sensation. 3. After pressing the accelerator, the engine RPM increases significantly (the engine noise also grows louder), but the car itself does not accelerate immediately. It takes several seconds before any noticeable increase in speed occurs. I checked online I noticed that in some cases, some odysseys stop on the highway and cause some injuries, which is terribly I also sent a note to Honda USA, and I got a reply, but it is useless. I do not know what I can do. I saw there was some recall (due to the transmission) on Othe dyssey touring model and elite models, but I wonder if there is any recall on my Odyssey EX-L model.
Our front camera on windshield failed at 96k miles, causing all lights to come on the dash. This resulted in all safety features failed and even basic cruise control doesnt work. Lots of Honda owners have same issues and the result is that it is a failed front camera which could cost around 2k to replace. There is no other way around it. It is found out that the camera could over heat leading to failure. This issue should be a recall because it is a safety concern. Could you please look into it? Thank you for your time.
Right sliding door will not open or close automatically. It beeps and warning light “right sliding door problem” displays. Door has to be manually opened or closed by using the exterior handle. There is resistance when trying to manually close the door and it won’t fully latch.
Driver side sliding door will not open in freezing/cold temperatures. It tries to open, sometimes halfway and then closes. It also fails to latch sometimes when reclosing. This happened January 2025 and again December 2025. Dealer wants us to replace motor/cables and rear latch. Rear latch has been recalled on 2019 odysseys but they say our VIN is not included. This door has been problematic since purchasing vehicle.
While driving down the road way the collision mitigation warning failure flashed and then pulled the steering wheel pulled me off the roadway and nearly caused me to crash.
The power sliding door on the driver’s side failed and will not open, even manually. The mechanism engages and stops after about an inch. This creates a significant safety risk because passengers cannot exit through the door in an emergency. This appears to be a widespread defect in 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey models. Repair cost is approximately $1,000. Honda needs to address this as a safety issue.
The power sliding door on the passenger side failed to operate properly. After receiving a recall repair related to the sliding door, the door stopped functioning correctly, directly after I picked it up—it would not close or latch fully. The door assembly and motor mechanism are still on the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. 4-5 months later the driver side (same door) that was malfunctioning now will not close, I had to bring the car in for the 3rd time and they said the Pinch Sensor is bad and want $812 dollars to fix it. I have had the car from 2019 with no issues at all with the door. They claim it has nothing to do with the recall. I filed a goodwill form and they denied the claim. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sliding door will not close or latch securely, which poses a safety risk while driving, especially with passengers or children in the vehicle. The malfunction could cause the door to open unexpectedly or prevent the vehicle from being secured properly. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issue was first noticed immediately after the dealer performed the recall repair. I had to return the next day, and the dealer temporarily restored operation. However, the same issue reoccurred about four months later, and the door is now inoperable again. Yes. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Honda dealer both during and after the recall repair. No police or insurance inspection has been conducted. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared. The problem first appeared immediately after the recall service was completed.
On 10/4/2025, I was driving with my family on a single lane road around 7:30pm. The van automatically went into neutral "N" gear and there was a message displayed on the dashboard saying it is not safe to drive and asking me to pull over when it is safe to do so. Pressing the gas pedal didn't do anything. Eventually the car came to a stop. The car wouldn't allow me to shift the gear to D or P. A cop who was driving by, saw my situation and nudged the car to the side of the road because it was blocking other traffic. I turned off the car and waited for 5 minutes. Turned the car back on. This time the message displayed as "Emission system problem". I was able to drive the van normally for another 30 miles to get back home. There was no obvious mechanical issues either before or after the car went to neutral. On Monday, I took the car to a honda dealership. While driving there, the car still had "Emission system problem" error. As soon as the person in the dealership turned on the car to get the mileage, the dashboard message went away. They did a diagnostic and said that they got a p0810 code. They reset the code and drove it for 10 miles trying to reproduce the issue. They couldn't reproduce it. I have driven the car for more than a week and I don't have the problem. However, a car automatically going into neutral while still driving on the road, seems to be a very dangerous issue. Please investigate this issue.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? passenger side sliding door not functioning while vehicle turn on. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? passenger on my vehicle can't exit out the vehicle in case of emergency. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? none. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? none. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? none.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) My 2019 Honda Odyssey slammed on the brakes while traveling 70+ MPH on a clear freeway. There was no warning and nothing in the road. I have also had issues with the braking warning light flashing for no reason while traveling down the roadway. I called the Honda dealership and inquired about the braking issues and was told unfortunately it can happen, especially if I drive on windy roads.
On our 2019 Honda Odyssey the passenger sliding door is failing to latch closed and stay closed or locked. The door is popped out in the back because the latch mechanism will not engage and electronically lock as part of the normal closing sequence like the other door. From what I can tell, this is the same issue reported in Service Bulletin 18-128, however when I called Honda about it, they said my VIN was not included in that recall. I am concerned because it seems like the same problem and it creates an unsafe situation where the door is not fully latching, even when manually closing the door and trying to lock it. I can hear excessive noise from that side of the vehicle, and the warning message flashed saying there is an issue with the Right Side Sliding door, and the dome lights come on with an audible warning tone. I am unable to put passengers in the back of the van and needed to be very careful when driving it to the dealership for diagnosis yesterday. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I think this issue should be covered under recall work, since it seem like it is the same issue described in the service bulletin 18-128.
Over the last year, recorded 13 incidences where car would not accelerate. (It occurred more times, but I did not record it). I wrote down date, time, weather, gas level, temperature, and what the car would not do. Each incidence was the same - the car would not accelerate, despite pressing down (strongly) on the gas pedal. The car would then jerk forward suddenly. This provided concern and danger as it was often as I was trying to turn off a side road, onto a main road (state highway). This often needs to be done quickly as traffic approaches from both sides. There were a couple of instances when a car was approaching and the vehicle appeared to just stop in the intersection before finally picking up. I have definitely had concerns regarding being hit by oncoming traffic. I brought the vehicle in to Honda to assess in ~May/June 2023. They could not replicate the problem and ended up returning the vehicle without any noted actions. I began taking note of when this occurred starting 6/1/2024, and have 13 recorded incidences.
My foward facing multipurpose camera quit work causing all my ADAS systems to suddenly stop working. While researching the issue i found alot of people are having this issue per the honda odyssey online forums. And staff at the local honda dealer that repaired system for over 2500.00 stated that he has seen an increase in this issue with the camera system. My car was no longer cover under warranty and the extended warranty i purchased refused to cover said repair. Just thought maybe honda has a issue with the camera and maybe should find a fix and do a recall before this failure causes an accident.
Was Driving on my way to work and I heard a sharp sound while going up a hill. I then got warnings that said transmission issue, pull over immediately when safe and the car shifted itself into neutral. I was in the middle of traffic and lost all acceleration controls, while being forced out of the drive gear. I lost all speed and had to move through traffic and get to a side street. The same thing happened to me about a year and a half ago. It was covered by a warranty but I still was experiencing losses of car power or stalling.
Infotainment system failure which means I am unable to use the baCJ up camera or the hands free link until I replace the entire infotainment center
I hit drive automatic transmission 2019 Honda odyssey and my van will only shift to second gear. I have noticed on my dashboard at this occurrence it shows a capital S which I believe it indicates second gear. The van stays in second and does not shift to third gear. I know other owners have complained on the odyssey owners blog. Why has this not been recalled for repair. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Upon coming to a complete stop on the freeway, the idle engine feature stopped the engine. Upon letting go of the gas, the engine wouldn't restart and the electrical systems in the car malfunctioned showing a restart of the car would be needed. After trying to restart the car, the engine wouldn't turn over. After pushing the off button and starting the car again, it finally restarted. This created a hazardous situation as there was the potential for the car behind us to rear end us since we were at a complete stop on the freeway. After the software update, this happened again at a right turn on a local street.
Rear hatch door does not open high enough for normal height people. Men who load things keep bashing their heads. My husband is 5’10” and he almost got knocked out. This needs to be addressed. Honda said to take it in but the dealer said no repair possible. That also makes my car worth less as I can’t sell it.
When I start the vehicle, I consistently get warnings for ACC problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Road Departure Mitigation problem, and Auto High Beam Problem. This occurs every time I have driven the vehicle for the past week. From cursory research, this issue commonly appears to be related to a failure of the camera module located next to the rearview mirror.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey’s power liftgate control model failed due to water intrusion. My liftgate started to open and close while I was driving, would close on me while loading/unloading the trunk, and would also open while parked in parking lots nearly hitting passing vehicles. It is truly a huge safety concern. Once the old module was out, I found extensive corrosion and rust on the module and its housing. As well, the entire bracket inside of the vehicle is rusted. There appears to be a defect in the manufacturers body seams that is allowing water to enter.
ADAS completly stoped working and warning lights about multiple failures showed. I am having trouble with the factory dealer. Honda. They want 1800.00 dollars to replace camera and fix The Warranty i have will not cover it. I have seen a ton of this similar situation posted all over online.
My power liftgate ceased to open or close via any electronic means (button on dash, button on remote, tailgate left button on back of vehicle). The tailgate control module in the rear driver side panel was full of water when it was removed. The circuit board back side was covered with moisture damage which has shorted out the board.
After coming to a complete start at a stop light the engine failed to restart when I took my foot off the brake. Car turned off completely and I needed to push power button to restart car. This was very dangerous with the delay in getting car restarted in traffic. This has happened a number of times. I told the dealer and they told me it was user error.
We were stopped at a red light the auto start/stop was enabled and the car stopped. The car turned off when attempting to start and I had to power down the car, open the driver door to reset the system and get the car turned back on.
Several warning lights turned on. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on. This has been happening for the past 8 months i have to unplug the battery so the codes erase and the car starts driving normal then 2 days later they come back and car wont accelerate or would have hard time picking up speed I researched and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues as mines.
The power tailgate is not working, no fuse is blown, control model needs to be replaced, likely due to leak in back of car (happened after heavy rain). Looks like many owners of the same car have experienced the same issue.
When starting my van, I got warnings for ACC, Lane Departure, and Collision Mitigation stating that the issues were broken. I received error code U3000-49 at the Honda repair dealer which stated the multipurpose camera no longer works. In doing my research, it appears this is a known issue that Honda is not taking responsibility for and charging $1,500 to $2,000 to repair. They state the car works fine other than having none of those safety features working.
I have had a recurring problem for years that the dealership has been unable to resolve. Occasionally while we are at a stop, and the engine auto off system kicks in, and then I tried to go again, the car stalls completely. Battery tests fine. It does not restart until sometimes after I open and close my driver side door a couple of times which I assume reboots the electrical system in some manner. The car then starts up again and is okay. This is extremely dangerous as it happens in the middle of driving down the road, and the dealership has been unable to identify a solution or what the real problem is.
Honda trunk area is soaking wet after raining, carpet is stinking like mold/mildew. From my research this is unfortunately a common problem and is not being addressed by Honda. This can cause major health problems for some, especially those who have certain respiratory diseases. Repair is pending on our van, but I feel we shouldn't be having to pay for a fix that should be being addressed already by honda as multiple vehicles/vans are defective
I have had the trunk struts and power module replaced twice due to water leaks into the compute module of my trunk. It has cost me headaches and thousand of dollars to have it fixed. This issue should be recalled to fix and for a reseal of the trunk. My dash has a power lift gate error show up and will not open anymore. Also it will not stay open as well and slowly just close itself.
Multipurpose camera malfunction.
At various times since we have owned our van, when the gas pedal is pushed, the car will not move for a few seconds. It will then go, but it’s not smooth. I can never recreate this issue, since it seems to happen randomly. I had it happen today, and it lasted longer than a couple of seconds. I was thankful I was just leaving my neighborhood and not trying to turn onto a busy street.
Rear power tailgate module fried due to moisture intrusion. Trunk will not close. Lock stuck in closed position.
Driver side rear frame next to tailgate has some holes at the welding site that allowed water to get in between the frame and the interior of the car and have fried the power tailgate module. I have had to purchase a new power tailgate module due to this
Tailgate issue. Unable to open the automatic tailgate door. Quick search on the internet showed this is a common problem, yet it is not part of the recall and customers are expected to pay out of pocket. This appears to be either quality control issue or bad design. This should be a recall fix.
I've a recall 2019 Odyssey Fuel Pump Mtr Saf Recall Exp1 related to my Honda Odyssey. I can't start my vehicle on 09/10/2024, which I have paid $1200 for the delear to repair. I highly suspect that the reason that I can't start my engine is because of this recall, as "can't start the engine" is one of the symptom. To date, I still have trouble getting this recall repair at Honda authorized dealer, as they are running out of parts.
My odyssey will intermittently refuse to respond to pressure on the accelerator. If I push the pedal to quickly gain speed, from stopping, it will lag for 2-3 seconds before suddenly leaping forward and squealing my tires. This is very unsafe because it has caused me to be in several near collisions. The dealer confirms that other customers have experienced this issue, but Honda has not made a diagnosis or fix available. I have experienced this problem intermittently for several years, beginning around 50,000 miles, and my husband has also noticed it. All maintenance is current, and we have had the fuel system cleaned to try to fix it.
Passenger sliding door will not open manually or close. “Door open” warning comes on while driving and door pops open but not all the way.
Ongoing Transmission problems. Started possibly in 2022 or 21. Has greatly worsened making the car unsafe to drive. Loss of power. Gears slipping. lagging; failure to accelerate; abrupt deceleration
The following message suddenly appeared one day and since then, they kept coming back on every time starting the car: ACC problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Auto High Beam Problem, Brake Problem, and sometimes Transmission Problem as well. After research online, many other owners of the same vehicle had the same issue and which may be caused by faulty connector or faulty front camera component for the hardware issue; or software issue which was on the previous recall for the multi-media issue on the Odysseys. There is a HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 18-006 for the 2017-2018 CR-V models of the same issue/symptoms: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The transmission stalls and does not shift into gear from an idol. When this happens, it is a safety issue that creates a 2 - 5 second lag in acceleration, then a lurch forward as the RPMs rev and the vehicle finally shifts into gear. This is a known problem to Honda through multiple complaints filed with them, and is a commonly known and discussed problem on many online forums. The first time we took it into Honda they denied that there was any issue, charged us for a transmission diagnosis, and were very dismissive towards my wife. When i called to inquire about this issue several months later to set up a subsequent appointment, the service coordinator informed me that this issue is known to Honda but they will do nothing to remedy the problem because there is nothing “physically wrong” with the transmission. He went on and on about how I needed to file complaints in order to pressure Honda to do something about this because it is dangerous and he personally knew of other vehicles with the 9-speed transmission that had been involved in accidents because they could not accelerate in intersections. He emphasized that Honda WILL NOT FIX the problem. Not only is this awful customer service, but it is putting my family’s lives at risk. There have been several close calls for my wife when trying to turn left across oncoming traffic, merging into moving traffic, and navigating in smaller spaces. The transmission does not shift into gear for several seconds when trying to accelerate from a stop or from a rolling idol. It is dangerous to us and other drivers on the road. This is a known issue to Honda. They refuse to do anything about it.
While driving my car I have felt it stalling at take off or while slowing down and trying to resume speeds. I cannot fill my gas tank up fully, and now my car will not start. We researched and found that we can tap the fuel relay under the steering wheel to start the car. We’ve taken the car in to the dealership and they will not even check the fuel pump recall because they do not have the parts. They tell me my battery is bad. But when we take the battery to replace it is good. I am now without a working vehicle because the dealership will not resolve the issue of the recall.
5 warning lights on dashboard for lane keeping assist, auto high bean, automatic breaking, collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control. Honda is saying it is the front sensing camera which is disabling these safety features. None of these features are working.
The camera system intermittently was cutting out. After researching it is apparently a known issue. I took it to my mechanic and what is "common" is a loose wire. This is not the case with my vehicle. It is a broken wire connection. Therefore neither my camera display or hands-free communication system work, they have no power.
I have a 2019 Honda Odyssey. I have been having trouble with my transmission for quite some time. The car pauses when I try to accelerate. I took it to a Honda service center in when the car was 4 years old. They plugged it into the electronic system for an update and to look for problems. The entire system crashed. Which required me to replace the entire transmission control module. Even after this, I am still having trouble with the car pausing when I try to accelerate, which can be unnerving. My 15 year old has his learner's permit and is very nervous while driving my car. We have had some close calls.
Hello. My Honda odyssey has a major safety issue. Three times now the rear hatch has failed. When this happens an alarm goes off and the door locks shut. Then, randomly and shortly after, the rear hatch unlocks. There is nothing locking the door when this happens. Two out of the three times I have been driving the car when the rear hatch unlatched and one is the three times I have had my three children in the car. Thank god no one was hurt or killed. Because there is nothing stopping items from falling out of the car causing an accident while driving. I have now paid two have this fixed twice at 1k each occurs. Despite me having purchased a warranty this is according to Honda caused by “water damage”. Well all over the Internet and forums there are people complaining about this with a class action law suit being investigated. The water damage is caused by improper sealing and assembly causing corrosion and the electrical failure. And then the worst part is, the hatch sticks open and the door is unlocked and not latched while driving! I have reached out to Honda directly over and over siting this obvious safety risk and saying that someone is going to get killed and there needs to be a recall. Again I can not emphasize enough how unsafe this is. I do not feel safe driving my children in this car or driving the car for that matter because the rear hatch could open at any time. I am disappointed in the lack of response by Honda and the dealership. I have spent thousands of dollars on repairing this manufacturers defect. I hope that someone can help make this matter important before someone is hurt. Honda needs to be accountable for their issue.
It is very common problem with 2018-2023 honda odyssey. Water leaks inside from the seam crack under roof drip trim. This water is dripping right on the tailgate control electronic module. And module is short circuit and dead. Now tailgate is either stays locked or stays open all the time as the latch is not operating at all. This is safety issue as if tail gate is not latched properly it can be open while driving on the road. Also with water leaking inside in trunk area it's a issue with growing mold under the carpet. It shows error message on instrument panel about trouble with tailgate system.
My vehicle would say mitigation control system failure, and would flutter by turning off and back on and making the vehicle in operable for a few seconds while in motion. Also, would have a transmission gauge issue and would make the car inoperable, and wouldn’t move at all, would only turn on and would function like the radio, lights, etc.
While driving down the interstate going between 55-60 mph van began to downshift and rpm’s started rising but gas pedal didn’t accelerate. Then the next day I got stranded on a highway because the van locked into neutral before I could pull into a parking lot because of traffic, then it finally went into park(we were trying to get it back in drive obviously). I was stuck blocking traffic for almost an hour with 3 kids and an infant in the car. Finally, restarting it several times worked and i was able to pull in and wait for a tow truck. This almost happened on the interstate. Someone is going to be seriously injured or worse because we almost were. Honda I supposed to be known for safety but right now, I may just switch to Toyota because apparently this issue is known and they just don’t care enough about their customers to recall and fix it.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey has had issues with engine hesitation since purchase, but have worsened in the last year to the point that I am concerned I will be in an accident. When creeping forward at a lower speed (5-8mph) to make a turn, the engine hesitates for several seconds, delaying my ability to turn and causing me to then turn seconds before another car is approaching me. I am in a Honda facebook group and many people report similar issues without any fix. I have taken my car to the dealership and they do not see any issues. I recently had my fuel pump recall done (I basically had to beg the dealership to do it despite them telling me Honda is short on supplies), and the issue is still present. The issue is worse in colder weather. I drive with 3 kids in the backseat. This issue needs to be addressed.
The power tailgate would open, then after opening, the tailgate may slowly sag down. Then it automatically closes within seconds. When going down to close, it beeps loudly.
A water leak has ruined TWO power liftgate control modules. The water leak probably comes from the roof or driver rear window welds. I replaced one module two months ago and the new one has also malfunctioned due to water intrusion. This causes the liftgate to be stuck open or closed and could potentially open when driving!
Tailgate on 2019 Honda Odyssey model(s) without power lift gate function open to only a dangerously low height. Five undocumented head injuries have occured on a single vehicle within one year. Upon more research, tailgate height for these models have caused several head injuries some requiring medical attention. No warning labels or preventative equipment attached to the tailgate to warn of serious head injury. Honda dealership advised unable to adjust tailgate height.
Water leaked into the back of my van through the plastic molding at the top of the lift gate. I was told the water ruined the control module. The part I was told would rrun $850 to replace. I looked the control module online at a gunuine Honda parts catalogue & it's $121. They tell me there is no guarantee that this will work. If it does not, then they recommend the replacement of the rear wiring harness which lists at the same Honda parts site fo $2,101.64 but this dealership wants to charge $8,500 plus $900 for new carpeting. Looking at the auto blogs, it seems that this is a recurring issue with the 2018-2019 Odysseys.
After getting vehicle serviced twice in the past 6 months for 2 different recalls, the alarm has been randomly going off in the middle of night. Then today when trying to start the vehicle the engine clicked nonstop and all the dashboard lights and headlights flickered uncontrollably. When researching this issue it sounds like its an internal failure within the keyless access/TPMS control unit, which also appears to be a frequent issue with this vehicle. If this is such a frequent issue with so many cards how is this not a recall?
The car essentially stalls and the gas pedal becomes unresponsive at times. It is mostly from if the car is stopped or if you are growing slower and then try to go faster I.e. turning on a stop sign into a road. I continue to press the gas pedal and then it will peel out once the car comes to. It is terrifying because I feel like I cannot trust the vehicle and it carries my children. I am terrified it will stall out and I will get hit. We have fixed all the recalls and brought it into a Honda dealership but they said they could not find any issues. The person we had was not helpful and we escalated to the manager.
As from the year of 2019 to 2024, I was received a lot of this vehicle safety recall, I went to the Honda service dealer to repair my vehicle but unfortunately they refused and respond repaired service on my vehicle at all times for a reasons is no parts, up to now my vehicle is still not recovered any safety recall service from Honda dealers.
Right side sliding door problem on screen I report hot springs Arkansas dealer Many time They said no issue No repair But many car the same problem and repair But they said my car expire warranty And cost me Many time on my screen pop on warning and off But they don’t responsible I you contact them and investigate
Driving on highway suddenly multiple warnings ⚠️ lights on (about 10) warnings lights like check engine, transmission system, power steering system brake assist ,holding brake system, line departure assistance, hill assistance, emission system, ACC system, VAS system, blind spot assistance and lack of power hitting gas (Accelerate pedal) no response car slow down by itself becomes 20mph on 55mph highway very scary this happened four times in one month.
On June 2023, the driver side rear sliding door of my Honda Odyssey abruptly ceased functioning. Despite the infrequent use of this door—since I typically rely on the passenger side for dropping off my three children at school and activities—it is perplexing that the underused door has encountered such a critical malfunction. Given that our family of five heavily depends on this vehicle for transportation, the inability to utilize both doors has not only caused significant inconvenience but also raised substantial safety concerns. The driver side rear sliding door is currently sealed shut and attempts to open it manually have proven futile. It appears that the latching mechanism has completely failed, as the motor makes an audible attempt to open the door, yet no actual movement occurs. This issue has persisted for over six months, prompting ongoing communications with Norm Reeves Honda in West Covina and Honda's customer service team. According to the Honda report, it is suggested that the door may have been forced open. The estimated cost for potential repairs is $1,679.19, pending a proper assessment of the specific problem once access to the affected area is granted. The technician mentioned the necessity of breaking the paneling to reach the latches for replacement. Notably, this is my second Honda Odyssey, and two other family members also own Odysseys. Honda's van doors have a documented history of malfunctions, and it is disheartening to observe the lack of attention to this recurring issue. Moreover, the burden of the associated costs is unfairly placed on the customer. The prolonged delay in resolving this matter and the financial implications underscore a pressing need for Honda to address and rectify these door malfunctions promptly and responsibly.
Water leaked through the roof causing the tailgate motor to fail. There are separations in the body seams above the tailgate. The vehicle has not been an accident.
Warning lights started being displayed stating that multiple vehicular functions were not working. (Vsa stability, emissions system, brake system, brake hold system, power steering problem) Upon inspection at the dealership I was told it was a fuel injector problem and it was not covered under the recall. The fuel injector is currently on back order and I have been waiting several weeks for a part. The estimate that was given to me was around $1200. I believe this should be covered by Honda
Power tailgate problem repeatedly flashed on dashboard but would disappear before it was legible and the car was beeping while driving. We stopped and tried to see what the problem was but it wasn’t until we finally arrived home that it finally showed the full error on the screen. Apparently this drained the battery as well and we had to call AAA the following day to start the vehicle. They tested the battery which was only 2 years old (OEM battery died after only 2 years) and said it was fine. Drive around for 40 minutes and the next day it was dead again. Had it towed to the dealer who after much discussion agreed to replace the battery even though I read online about people having issues with water leaking onto the power tailgate module. The dealer told Me they had to replace the battery instead and the next day called to say that I was right, the battery replacement didn’t solve it. And when they looked at the power tail get module it was indeed corroded from moisture. But they wanted an additional $500 so they could subcontract to an “expert” who could seal that leak. I told them to only replace the module and asked why a recall hadn’t been issued. They said this was beyond their pay grade. I told them I’ll find a way to seal it myself.
On December 8, 2023 I left my home where the vehicle is parked in a garage to drive to work. About a mile down the road I heard a loud pop and glass was flying off the top of the car. The sunroof of the vehicle had exploded without any direct impact to the sunroof, extreme vibration on the road, or extreme temperature. The car was at about 45 mph and the temperature was above freezing.
My 3 year old daughter had the sliding door shut on her hand completely. It shut and sealed in place whereas it would normally beep and reopen when it sensed an object in the path.
My power tailgate control unit is fried due to a leak in rear driver side.
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the significant reliability issues I have encountered with my 2019 Honda Odyssey. Unfortunately, these issues have led to inconveniences, unexpected expenses, and a reevaluation of my trust in the vehicle's long-term dependability. During the warranty period, the vehicle suffered from water infiltration in the trunk, resulting in flooding. Addressing this problem required multiple interventions by the dealership. Post-warranty, an electrical/electronic component related to the liftgate module malfunctioned, leading to an unforeseen repair that cost upwards of $800+. Subsequently, the vehicle experienced recurring starting problems, necessitating jump-starts on multiple occasions. Most recently, a complete failure to start occurred, requiring towing to the dealership, which unfortunately happened while away from home. Extensive diagnostics revealed the necessity to reprogram the BCM (Body Control Module) to resolve the issue. The repetitive and varied nature of these issues, especially for a four-year-old vehicle, raises concerns about the reliability and quality standards associated with the Honda Odyssey. These recurring inconveniences and unexpected expenses have compelled me to reconsider recommending this vehicle to friends and family. Of particular concern is the possibility of experiencing a breakdown in remote areas during extended trips. The prospect of being stranded with my family in such situations is troubling and potentially unsafe. Urgent attention to resolving these issues is crucial to avoid any untoward incidents for myself or other Odyssey owners. While I have raised my concerns with Honda, I am also contemplating sharing this experience with the NHTSA. The uncertainty surrounding potential future issues while driving has led me to consider selling this vehicle. I believe it's essential to document these concerns for the safety and awareness of others who might face similar situations.
For over a year, when ever I press on the gas to accelarate the car stalls and this is very dangerous as it could cause an accident. It is not related to being low on gas as it happens even the the tank if full. The most recent issue happened yesterday. I was on a stop sign, and when I pressed the gas to go, the car moved forward a bit and then it stalled, leaving me on the middle of the intersection about to get hit by upcoming traffic. I was able to press the gas a couple of time and get car moving, but I was about to get him. A few weeks ago, again I had a similar situation. I was at a red light, and when I pressed on the gas, my car stall and wouldnt move, causing everyone behind me to honk their horns. I once again then to press the gas a couple of time for car to move. In addition, a few weeks ago, I was yieling to enter a highway, and when I press the gass to speed up and enter it, the car once again stall and was about to get hit by upcoming traffic. The issue is not related to gas tank, as I just recently had that replace after it suddently rip. Not sure how that happen, maybe another think to consider looking into. When I advised the dealership of such, they said stalling is normal due to type of engine. There is nothing normal of putting your life at risk. This is an accident waiting to happen.
Safelite replaced after market windshield in 2020 now I bought new ADS CAMERA. Honda was unable to program/(AIM-recalibrate). Took it to Safelite, they didn’t want to responsible for it.
Under certain conditions, the accelerator pedals fails to provide propulsion when depressed. The most common scenario in which this happens is when leaving a parking area and proceeding onto a roadway, especially if the parking area is elevated above the street slightly. The driver depresses the accelerator pedal slightly to move the car from a standstill, but then releases the accelerator due to the slight downhill, or transition onto the roadway. When the accelerator pedal is depressed again, nothing happens. Often the pedal will travel all the way to the floor with no result. Or sometimes, the engine/transmission "catches" and an abnormally large amount of power results in spinning tires. In any case, this is extremely dangerous, and has nearly caused accidents with oncoming traffic when pulling out onto busy streets. It happens fairly reliably, approximately 70% of the time when depressing the accelerator pedal more than once. I have not sought dealer service on this yet but will be in the coming weeks.
While moving at a very slow speed, 2-3 mph, then pressing the accelerator, the car hesitated to find the proper gar while the engine accelerated. When gear is found, car, suddenly jerks forward to catch up with engine speed. This throws passengers backward, jerking their necks. Local Honda dealers “ are unaware any problem exists.”
I am not getting recalls done at Autonation Honda because they tell me that Honda has not been providing rear view camera. This has been going on for 2 years. Honda does not care for its customers! I went to Autonation Honda 3 times - 25 January 2023, 25 April 2022 and 28 December 2022. Even today (5 August 2023), I am told that Honda still has no parts. Honda used excuse of COVID for long time and has been selling its vans without any shortages. This is height of carelessness from Honda. So, I want to lodge complaint against Honda for the negligence of its duty. Thanks.
I have been unable to complete recall of rear camera repair.
The rear view camera sometimes stops working when backing up. Even if you go in park and go to hit reverse button again to "reset" it will still be a black screen. In a van, its difficult already driving a larger vehicle and adding the fact that you can't see when backing out of a spot or when going out of a drive way or even into a driveway, increases room for error or injury. This has been an issue over the past couple years and my Honda dealership has said there is a delay in the part but that it has been "ordered" for a long time now. Last time they "re ordered" was October 2022. I checked on part again while at the dealership January 2023 and it has still "not arrived" so they are unable to fix it. No warnings appeared on the vehicle just a black screen. They did a "factory reset" when I took it in January to reset other delay features with the screen and issues with the sound. I explained that there is a recall on rear view camera and a warranty for 5 years or 60k miles (whichever comes first) for the audio. I am at 56k miles, and they said to "watch it" to see if it does it again. Unacceptable.
Right sliding door will not fully close. It gets a few inches from being closed, then reopens all the way.
There is often an acceleration hesitation, I have taken the vehicle to various Honda dealers and received no answers of what may be causing the acceleration to be delayed. Coming from a complete stop and trying to pull out and make a left or right turn with oncoming traffic the vehicle doesn't accelerate immediately risking a chance of me being hit by oncoming traffic. I am also teaching my daughter to drive, and we were nearly hit by a car because the van stalled when she was making a left turn. After it fails to accelerate it then takes off at a very high rate of speed causing the wheels to peel off. At some point I feel like this defect is going to cause an accident or something worse. I just pray the issue is addressed before it happens to anyone. There is no warning light, or messages that indicate there is a problem. This problem is ongoing but not consistent on a daily basis it just happens often and randomly ,and has been going on for almost 2 years now.
The vehicle often judders/stutters when accelerating (almost seems like it is buckling), especially when going from low speeds to higher. On occasions, when accelerating, juddering has caused the vehicle to leap forward. This has been happening ever since purchase of the brand new vehicle from the dealer; however, it appears to be occurring more frequently now (at 40,000 miles). We have mentioned this to the dealer and they only recommended a transmission flush. We are concerned both about safety and the durability of the vehicle itself (which was a pretty expensive purchase). On researching this further, it appears that several other owners have been complaining about similar problems.
When I come to a complete stop and the start/stop motor goes into idle mode (shuts the engine down), I have a problem that occurs after it. It is unpredictable but when I come out of the idle and the engine is supposed to kick back on, my minivan stalls out. This has happened in heavy traffic areas and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to get the van to turn back on as the electrical system malfunctions. Big safety issue that can be scary in the moment. There are error messages that come up on the dash including "Collision Mitigation System Problem", "Brake System", and the center console system will restart. This problem doesn't happen when I disable the start/stop motor as it doesn't go into idle-stop mode. I have read through online forums recently and it appears this issue has happened in other Honda models dating back to 2016 models. This is clearly an issue across years/models and needs to be addressed. The local Honda dealership said they haven't heard of this problem and couldn't replicate. Therefore, there was no repair provided.
The passenger side, rear sliding door does not engage in the locking mechanism. It intermittently lacks securely latching. In looking into the door, it appears that the actuator is not engaging properly. Upon researching this for a few minutes, I do see that there were recalls on 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys (as well as other models of Hondas). My car is a 2019 Odyssey. I have called Honda about this issue and they do not acknowledge this recall in regards to my VIN. Service Bulletin 18-128 in Nov. 2018 I do not understand the method used to determine which cars are impacted by the recall, or rather how mine is not (yet) included when I clearly have a faulty door latch which can potentially harm my children and other passengers. The door has automatically reversed from opening to closing halfway through and has come very close to hurting my daughter. Please get me a recall notice/repair notice (online would be fine!) asap so that I can get this taken care of immediately. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2018/RCRIT-18V795-2903.pdf Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
My vehicle had recall 20V-438 issued in September 2020. I recently received a followup letter from Honda informing me that I had not completed this recall. Since the recall was issued, I have attempted to schedule to have the recall completed at every service appointment I've had at my Honda dealership. Every single time (January 2021, July 2021, December 2021, May 2022), I was told parts were still not available. To have a recall open for almost 2 years without a supply of parts available to complete it is extremely frustrating. At this point, Honda should be contacting me when the parts are actually available.
This is a problem with the auto engine idle shut off. The engine shuts off normally when I come to a stop when I have the system engaged. The problems begin when I take my foot off the break expecting the engine to start up again. What happens consistently (though not all the time) is that when I take my foot off the brake, the engine shuts off, shifts itself into Park, and I have trouble getting the engine to start up again. A number of warning messages show up on the center console as well. Things like, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Brake System warnings start displaying. Sometimes, I can get the engine to start up again within 30 seconds. Sometimes, it's been more than a minute. It almost looks/sounds like the battery is dead too (makes that clicking sound and the RPM gauge jiggles around zero). My Honda service shop says they couldn’t replicate the issue, that there are no codes, and no service advisories. This started happening around 6-8 months ago and the incidents have recently increased significantly in frequency. This is a significant safety issue as every time this happens, which is now daily, I am vulnerable to being rear-ended and other vehicles are vulnerable to being in an accident by trying to go around me while I’m waiting for my vehicle to be able to restart.
On April 14, 2022 I parked our Odyssey in the parking lot of our child care center. I went in the building and when I came out of the building (approximately 5-7 minutes later) flames were coming out of the hood near the windshield. Within a few more minutes the flames had engulfed the front half or two-thirds of the car. Prior to this incident we had no warning lamps, and zero indication of anything wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle had approximately 35,000 miles and had always run perfectly. The incident has been reported to insurance. A fire inspector came to the scene and said the damage was so bad we would likely not know the cause of the fire.
I’ve had this vehicle into the shop many times for what seems to be erratic shifting at low speeds. Each time I go they tell me they’ve done and update and the problem is not resolved.
The multi function display froze up at beginning of the power cycle with an error message about Apple Carplay not available. All other functions of the display were also frozen out such that the front window defogger, and backup camera would not function. The frozen display lasted throughout the entire drive cycle and even remained after the car was parked for 15 approximately 15 minutes. Full function returned on the next drive cycle about 40 minutes later. Dealership confirmed that a code was stored but did not give the code. Dealership requested a $75 charge in order to update the software in the multi function device. This device is required to operate defrost and backup camera functions so expect this is a safety critical concern.
When I look up the recalls for my vehicle https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls says "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA". My vehicle manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy safety recall Manufacturer Recall Number W83 / NHTSA Recall Number 20V-438. I've been in communication with my dealer for over a year trying to get this fixed. Every time, including last week, they say "we can't fix that because the parts are on backorder".
Driving 60mph on the highway, everything electrical shut off and on several times. The dash screen, the touch screen, the AC, the lights. I immediately took an exit and got off, and when the rebooting stopped I was going about 30mph and the car shifted by itself into park. Then there was a horrible grinding sound of metal on metal...I hit the brakes to pull off the road the car got under 20mph and stopped instantaneously. I had the car towed to my local Honda dealership and they said they cannot replicate the issue, nor see any error codes. They will not take apart anything to check for damage to the parking rod because there were no error codes...And they want me to pick up the vehicle today.
When I go to accelerate I lose power and am unable to accelerate a lot of the times. The problem is intermittent and the sales people at Nissan dealership where I bought it from can't duplicate is. I've been mentioning this issue since I purchased the vehicle. Yesterday while driving the vehicle there was a loud bang noise and I lost ALL power driving 65 mph down Parmer lane. I had to coast and make a uturn at which point some power was regained. Multiple other times while driving to the dealership the same thing happened while trying to go across traffic. It was amazing nothing happened to us. I took it to the dealership and they acknowledged there's a major lawsuit right now for that vehicle but when Honda pulls up the VIN it doesn't show my vehicle is affected.
There is a crackling sound coming from the dashboard. There was a recall regarding this issue, however, I took the car into have this recall fixed. The issue has persisted even after the recall fix. I took the car into the dealership 4 times since and the issue still has not been fixed. I started contacting Honda three weeks ago regarding this issue. I have left five messages with the case manager, but have not had my phone call returned. I asked for another case manager, but was refused one. The case number is 1252 9330. The phone number for Honda is 800-999-1009. The case manager's name is Corey. I don't know what to do at this time so I am contacting the NTSB for your assistance. Thank you.
AC stops working when in slow traffic and outside is over 90 deg. This is a safety issue because it’s unsafe to drive a vehicle when the inside gets too hot. This is especially dangerous for when a baby is on board. Also the transmission is poor. It lags when I step on the pebble sometimes. This is dangerous when I try to make an unprotected left turn and the car won’t go forward. That means my timing for the turn is thrown off by a couple of seconds which could make a safe turn much more dangerous.
As I was driving I all of sudden heard a loud bang and the sunroof/moon roof whatever it is called exploded , glass had shattered for no reason at all. I was less than 2 miles from my house when it happened, I pulled over saw the glass was broken, then came home, tried to cover with plastic as rain was coming, then I took it to the local Honda dealer as our weather forecast calls for rain , they said it is probably not covered under warranty- but it has to be as sunroofs should not explode while driving
Power sliding door on the right has failed to close. It will close almost all the way and the re-open back up. It has to be closed manually. The problem has been reported and fixed altogether 4 times but the problem has never been resolved. The service dates were 1) Jan 15, 2020 2) July 7, 2020 3) May 13, 2021 and 4) July 21, 2021. It would work once or twice after fixing and go back to the malfunction stage. We need to use the car and are not able to take it back every time it happens. The services were conducted at Ourisman Honda, 4800 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814 Tel. 301-656-1000.
2019 ODYSSEY REVERSE CAMERA HAS FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. SOMETIMES WILL WORK ON NEXT VEHICLE START, SOMETIMES IT TAKES A FEW DAYS. REPORTED TO HONDA DEALER PRIOR TO RECALL IN JUNE 2020. HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 11 MONTHS FOR RECALL REPLACEMENT PART AND I AM TOLD OVER AND OVER THAT REPLACEMENT PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ETA IS AVAILABLE. ALSO HAVE TROUBLE WITH CROSS TRAFFIC SENSORS, DEALER UNABLE TO TELL ME IF THIS RELATED.

THE SCREEN ON MY VEHICLE GOES BLACK AND SHOWS "NETWORK COMMUNICATION LOST" AT RANDOM. THE SPEAKERS START MAKING A CRACKLING AND STATIC SOUND AT RANDOM AS WELL. THE SYSTEM WILL REBOOT OVER AND OVER. YOU CANNOT USE THE REARVIEW BACKUP CAMERA DURING THIS REBOOTING AND TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF DOES NOT MAKE IT START WORKING AGAIN.
INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM SCREEN BECOMES DEAD WHILE DRIVING. SINCE THEN, IT DOES NOT COME BACK EVEN AFTER RESTARTING A CAR.

THE VEHICLE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM CRASHED EVEN AFTER THE SAFETY RECALL. THIS MADE THE SPEEDOMETER GO OUT FOR A SHORT TIME, AND COMPLETELY DISABLE THE RADIO, REAR CAMERA, RES, AND MOST USER CONTROLS. THE SYSTEM ADDITIONALLY STAYED ON AFTER THE CAR WAS POWERED OFF, AND WOULD ONLY TURN OFF BY PULLING THE FUSE!

THE CENTRAL DISPLAY GOES BLANK, SOMETIMES I GET A MESSAGE NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS LOST, WHEN ITS BLANK THERE IS NO BACKUP CAMERA, RADIO, ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM PHONE BLUETOOTH... AND EVEN WHEN THE DISPLAY WORK THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL NOT ALWAYS DISPLAY AND THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL NOT ALWAYS WORK., I ALSO HEAR A POPPING SOUND FROM THE SPEAKER SYSTEM LIKE SOME WIRES ARE LOOSE... I ALSO HAD A FEW TIMES THAT THE DASHBOARD BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL WHERE THE SPEED AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFO ARE DISPLAYED WENT BLANK. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES, I WENT TO SERVICE BUT IT DIDNT HELP. A BRAND NEW 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY EX WITH 80 MILES ON IT, STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH VEHICLE'S CENTRAL DISPLAY. MESSAGE NETWORK COMMUNICATION LOST , EVEN ON SLIGHT MOVES WHILE THE CAR IS ON SMOOTH FREEWAYS. RADIO CLICKING STATIC NOISE. DISPLAY UNIT TURNS OFF AND ON SPORADICALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IN MOTION OR EVEN SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED FROM PARKING LOT. VEHICLE DISPLAY GOES BLANK COMPLETELY. CUTS OFF BACK UP CAMERA, NO RADIO, NO BLUETOOTH, NO APPS. AS MOST OF FUNCTIONS ARE CONTROLLED WITH TOUCH SCREEN FEEL LIKE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. DEALER TRIED TO FIX IT 2 TIMES BUT NOW THEY BLAME HONDA DOES NOT A SOLUTION YET. RAISED A CASE (10281802) WITH HONDA CORPORATE BUT HONDA REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE PROBLEM AND REFUSED TO GIVE A LOANER CAR AND SAID ITS UP TO TO DEALER TO GIVE A LOANER AS A COURTESY. I FEEL LIKE I WAS SOLD A LEMON. BOTH HONDA CORPORATE AND HONDA DEALER IS NOT TO HELP ME. DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THE CENTRAL DISPLAY UNIT WHICH SO CRITICAL TO THE VEHICLE'S FUNCTION. WORST PART IS RADIO CLICKING STATIC NOISE CANNOT BE CONTROLLED AS THE DISPLAY IS BLANK. ALL THE ABOVE MAKES ME FRUSTRATED THAT IT HAPPENS ON A NEW CAR AND NO ONE IS HELPING ME.

IN JAN2020, DURING MIDDLE OF A TWO HOUR DRIVE WITH FAMILY, VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL PANEL ALONG WITH STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS COMPLETELY FROZE, DISABLING VOICE AND/OR TOUCH COMMAND TO ACCESS DASH BOARD, APPLE CAR PLAY AND EVEN RADIO. VEHICLE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING IN THE RANGE OF 50-60 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED. RESTARTING VEHICLE AT ROADSIDE STOP DID NOT RESET THE SYSTEM. I NOTICED REAR VIEW CAMERA QUIT WORKING ALSO, COULD NOT CONFIRM ABOUT OTHER ELECTRONIC SAFETY FEATURE'S WORKING STATUS. VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION SEEM TO WORK FINE SO I DROVE SLOWLY HOME AND CALLED DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY. DEALERSHIP REQUESTED TO BRING VEHICLE IN HOUSE TO HARD RESET THE SYSTEM. DEALERSHIP ALSO MENTIONED THAT THEY ARE SEEING SIMILAR ISSUES IN THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE. I COULD NOT GET A SATISFACTORY ANSWER IF THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE (TO ME IT WAS NOT VERY SAFE EVEN IF SOME/ALL SAFETY FEATURES POSSIBLY WERE WORKING?). AFTER FACTORY RESET, VEHICLE IS WORKING FINE BUT I AM REQUESTING MANUFACTURER FOR FULL ELECTRICAL CHECK UP. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE TO HAVE FULL FAMILY IN AND RISK A SYSTEM FREEZE MID DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY. SURPRISED IT HAPPENED IN A BRAND NEW VEHICLE.

OUR 2019 ODYSSEY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS SHORTLY AFTER WE GOT IT. I TRIED TROUBLE SHOOTING MYSELF FOR AWHILE. FINALLY STARTED TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNING IT AND IT'S BEEN THERE MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, BLUETOOTH DOESN'T WORK, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. NOBODY CAN HEAR ME WHEN I TALK TO THEM THROUGH THE BLUE TOOTH OR APPLE CAR PLAY. THE POPPING IN THE DASH BOARD IS AWFUL AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE VAN IS GOING TO CATCH FIRE AT ANY MOMENT. THEY HAVE DONE A DASH HARNESS AND FULL BODY HARNESS ON OUR VAN WITH NO SUCCESS. THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING AND THE POPPING IS WHEN THE INFOTAINMENT/RADIO/MUSIC IS PLAYING OR NOT PLAYING. IT'S A SERIOUS HAZARD.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY ELITE ON 9/17/2019. I DROVE TO WORK AS USUAL, MADE SURE ALL ELECTRICALS (E.G., DOME LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, ETC.) WERE OFF, PARKED AND ALARMED MY VEHICLE. CAR REMAINED PARKED WHILE I WORKED. AFTER MY SHIFT, I TRIED TO USE THE REMOTE ENGINE START, BUT NOTICED THE CAR DIDN'T START. I PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY FOB, BUT NO RESPONSE; THE CAR REMAINED LOCKED. I TRIED TO UNLOCK VIA HONDALINK APP, WHICH DISPLAYED THAT CAR WAS UNLOCKED. I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN ANY CAR DOOR, BUT THEY REMAINED LOCKED. I WAS LEFT STRANDED IN 94*F HEAT AND NO NEARBY SHADE. LUCKILY MY FAMILY WEREN'T THERE OR THEY WOULD'VE ALSO BEEN LEFT BAKING IN THE HEAT. I USED THE MANUAL KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND GOT IN. THEN TRIED TO START THE CAR BUT NO RESPONSE AT ALL (I.E, NO LIGHTS ON THE HUD, LCD MONITORS, ETC.). ALSO TRIED UNLOCKING OTHER DOORS FROM INSIDE; NOTHING WORKED. CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE & THEY SENT SOMEONE TO HELP. GUY TRIED JUMP STARTING CAR, STILL NOTHING. SAID HE EVEN SENT "DIRECT CURRENT" TO CAR, BUT ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE; NO LIGHTS OF ANY KIND, NO ACCESS TO UNLOCK OTHER DOORS OR OPEN WINDOWS. CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AGAIN. THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO TOW CAR TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. TOW DRIVER ARRIVED, BUT COULDN'T TOW MY CAR AS THERE WERE CARS PARKED IN FRONT & IN BACK OF MY CAR. THERE WAS ALSO NO WAY FOR HIM TO PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT FEATURE. WE LOOKED IN CAR MANUAL FOR SOLUTION. ABOUT 2 HRS LATER, THE DRIVER DISCOVERED HE WAS ABLE TO START CAR BY USING KEY FOB TO PRESS THE START/STOP BUTTON. I DROVE TO DEALERSHIP & TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. SAID THEY WOULD PERFORM THOROUGH INSPECTION. IT'S BEEN 1.5 DAYS & THEY STILL DON'T KNOW THE PROBLEM. SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. I'M SCHEDULED TO PICK UP MY CAR TODAY BUT AM HESITANT & AFRAID OF BEING STRANDED WITH MY FAMILY WHEN TRAVELLING.

THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WHICH CONTROLS EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY FROZEN AND CRASHED. ALL, SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING THE BACKUP CAMERA DISABLED AND COULDN'T BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM DEEM THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION EVEN IT WASN'T. WORST, THERE IS NO WAY TO RESET OR TURN OFF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT VISITING A DEALER. MANY DRIVERS THAT I KNEW OF ARE CONSTANTLY FORCED TO FIX THE SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING. THIS CREATES SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY.

THE CAR HAS A SYSTEM TO WARN THE DRIVER TO BRAKE DUE TO AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE SYSTEM SHOWS BRAKE IN LARGE ORANGE LETTERS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION, GOING AROUND A GRADUAL TURN TO THE RIGHT, TYPICALLY ON A TWO-LANE ROAD, IT OFTEN WARNS OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER LANE BY SHOUTING BRAKE IN THE ORANGE LETTERS. THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS NEVER IN FACT A DANGER. THAT TRAFFIC IS SIMPLY MAKING A GRADUAL LEFT TURN IN ITS OWN LANE. BY CONTRAST, TODAY (DUE TO UTILITY WORK) THERE WAS TRAFFIC COMING DIRECTLY AT ME ON A TWO-LANE ROAD WHILE I WAS IN MOTION IN MY OWN LANE--AND THE CAR SAID NOTHING. IN MY OPINION, THIS SO-CALLED WARNING SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND UNRELIABLE. I ASKED OUR DEALER ABOUT IT BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. (THIS PROBLEM OF THE BRAKE WARNING HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES, IT IS BY NO MEANS CONFINED TO TODAY'S DATE.)

THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM STARTED SHUTTING DOWN AND CRACKLING STARTED IN THE SPEAKERS WHEN THE CAR WAS 3 WEEKS OLD. THE BLUETOOTH OPTION AND APPLE CAR PLAY ARE COMPLETELY UNUSABLE DUE TO THE CRACKLING. THEY STOP WORKING APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS INTO USE. NO SOUND. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WILL SHUT DOWN RANDOMLY, STATING NO NETWORK COMMUNICATION AND RADIO UNAVAILABLE BEFOREHAND. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE ANY PARTS, INCLUDING THE RADIO HARNESSES, WHICH ARE THE MAIN SUSPECTS FOR THE CRACKLING. CRACKLING SOUND WORSENS DURING TURNS.

SAFETY FEATURE DEFECT...INFOTAINMENT FAILS WHICH CAUSES NO BACKUP CAMERA WHEN YOU BACK UP
WE RECENTLY PURCHASED THE NEW 2019 HONDA ODESSEY AND THEN FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY MOVE THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL (OR ANY POSITION OTHER THAN PARK) IF THE ENGINE OR BATTERY DIES. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WORKING ON A FIX, BUT RECOMMENDED IF WE NEEDED TO GET TOWED TO PUT DISH SOAP UNDER THE TIRES TO BE DRAGGED ONTO THE TOW TRUCK. MEANWHILE THOUGH, WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW, THE BROKEN DOWN CAR COULD POTENTIALLY BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO FLASHERS IF THE BATTERY IS DEAD AND NO WAY FOR POLICE OR ANYONE ELSE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND ROLL IT TO SAFETY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA, AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE RECEIVED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS, BUT THEY ARE NOT WORKING ON A FIX AND IT IS 'JUST HOW THE CAR IS DESIGNED'. THEY SAID THAT THEY 'THINK' THERE IS A SPECIAL TOOL THAT ONLY THEIR AAA ROADSIDE ASSISTANTS HAVE THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO MANUALLY OVERRIDE, BUT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY SUCH TOOL, AND ANY OTHER TOW TRUCK DRIVERS WOULD NOT HAVE THIS SUPPOSED TOOL. GIVEN THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I FOUND THAT ANSWER UNACCEPTABLE AND AM HOPING YOUR REGULATORY AGENCY CAN INTERVENE TO PROMPT ACTION TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE OLD 2018 MODEL AND OTHERS ALWAYS HAD A MANUAL OVERRIDE OPTION, AND THE 2019 VERSION NEEDS TO HAVE THAT SAME OPTION FOR SAFETY, IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM. REAR BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK. RADIO DOES NOT WORK AND CARPLAY DOES NOT WORK
2019 HONDA ODDESAY BATTERY DIED ON US AT 2960 MILES! AFTER MY WIFE AND MY TWO BABIES, DROVE THE CAR FOR ALMOST 45 MIN. WENT TO THE ZOO AND CAME BACK 4 HOURS LATER ONLY TO FIND THE CAR BATTERY DEAD! 4/7/19, 4:45 PM! CALLED HONDA ROAD ASSISTANT AND WHEN FINALLY ARRIVED AT 5:20 PM HE HAD A HARD TIME CLAMPING HIS PORTABLE BATTERY PACK INTO THE CAR BATTERY DUE TO LIMITED SPACE AROUND THOSE BATTERY TERMINAL CONNECTIONS. HE HAD TO HOLD THE CLAPS MANUALLY IN PLACE! SO EVEN IF I HAD WAS THERE AND HAD A PORTABLE BATTERY I COULDN'T START UP THE CARS SINCE IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLAMPS TO BATTERY TERMINALS SECURELY AND JUMP INSIDE TO PUSH THE IGNITION KEY!

THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD LIKE IT HAD BEEN SHOT FROM INSIDE THE CAR. SOUNDED LIKE A HUGE EXPLOSION. WE HAD 7 PEOPLE IN MY VAN INCLUDING 5 CHILDREN. LUCKILY THE SCREEN WAS SHUT OR GLASS WOULD'VE RAINED DOWN ON ALL OF US. WAS SO STARTLING WE COULD'VE EASILY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AS WELL BUT LUCKILY WE DIDN'T.
