I reported issues regarding egress failure and children stuck within the back seat of the van, Electronic Dashboard failing while driving, and no start issues amongst others (11709419). Previously the certified dealer stated the issues just could not be reproduced, despite my videos, however, today they stated a Honda admin level director showed and told them the issues are being reported by others, they dont know how to fix it, and I need to come get my car, continue driving it.

My 2023 Honda Odyssey Elite has recurring, intermittent safety-related malfunctions across multiple systems. The most serious issues are: (1) door lock/unlock and rear door opening failures preventing emergency egress (children trapped), (2) intermittent “no-start/no-response” where push-button start does nothing (no click/no crank and sometimes no lights/electrical response), and (3) intermittent dashboard/instrument/electrical abnormalities while driving. I also previously experienced dangerous driver-assist behavior including unintended automatic braking and lane/steering behavior in construction zones. Door/egress: Rear doors sometimes will not open from inside or outside even when the vehicle audibly indicates it unlocked. I have video of my children unable to exit the back seat. This is an emergency egress hazard. No-start/no-response: Multiple events where the vehicle appears electrically dead and will not start, then after waiting ~10–30 minutes it starts without a jump. Stranding hazard. Recent examples: 12/31/2025 – doors would not open initially; after entry, no lights/electrical and start button produced zero response; after ~10–20 minutes it started. 01/05/2026 – while driving, dashboard/instrument display went off; buzzing noise believed HVAC related occurred. 01/05/2026 – after parking at Costco, vehicle again would not start (zero response); after ~30 minutes it started. 01/06/2026 – locking/unlocking malfunction again; rear doors would not open despite audible unlock (video). Repair history: Authorized Honda dealer (Bell Road Honda) previously stated “cannot reproduce,” replaced DVD/recall items and performed a “reset,” but did not diagnose root cause; problems returned worse. Honda Customer Service case opened. Injuries: Prior unintended automatic braking event (reported around 08/29/2023) caused injury (my legs hit dash; child had marks from car seat) and near rear-end collisions. Request: Investigate potential safety defects

The front right sensor goes off randomly. Sometimes all day long for days, then nothing for a week or 2 then back to it. Various lengths of time, usually stressfully long times, with nothing aroundcausing stress and making fucus hard. It started a few months after getting the van. We cleaned it, had the dealer inspect it and no one has ever figured out why we have to live with this blaring warning alarm. The dash says object warning with it and if i close that out nothing stops the alarm but putting it in park which I can't do on the interstate or in pickup line at school

This is regarding the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) I will be driving on side streets around town (driving kids to school and daycare) and there will be no vehicle/obstacle near me/ in front of me and my van will flash on the dashboard "brake" and then it slams on the brake. This has happened at least 5-6 times as of todays date 5/20/25. There is no warning or reason for the car to brake like this. I have brought this to the Honda dealer two times now once I realized how serious this was. I was informed that since it isn't throwing a code there is nothing they can do. This is a serious safety risk not only to myself but to my children- this is a van so most people who drive this have small children. The last two incidents i was inches from being rear ended with my children in the car. The time before that I had my family from out of town in my car, that could have been eight people seriously injured or killed for no reason.

I have a 2023 Honda Odyssey van. The van has been modified for me to drive from my wheelchair. The steering wheel has been locking up eight times when driving. It won’t out let me go straight or turn left or right. This happens when I come to a stop. It happened twice when driving. The wheelchair modifications company southern mobility said they fixed many times but it still have the steering wheel lock up. Now they are telling me it’s the Honda’s fault. Honda said it’s the van modification fault. Honda said they can look at it for $150 a hour. I am very frustrated and very concerned. While driving 35-40 mph, the car started acting strange, shaking and multiple alerts began appearing. No cars were around me and I was able to get the car over to the shoulder quickly. (Mileage 35,483. Owned car 20 months) Messages appearing: Electric Parking Brake Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Emissions System Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Electric Power Steering Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist Problem, CMBS Problem. I turned car off and on, multiple times, hoping it was a fluke, but car was shaking and messages kept appearing. I called Honda Roadside & car towed to dealership. Was told internal failure of oil pump was the problem. Techline reported Multiple vehicles with same codes and same motor have had the same problem. Replacement of spool valve, valve cover gasket & valve was the fix. This may be a future recall. Car drives fine now after being repaired!

I was pulling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake. My 2023 Odyssey van accelerated instead of braking. There is also supposed to be an auto car warning & braking if you are about to hit a car in front of you. None of this happened! In fact, it crashed into the car in front of me. As soon as it started to accelerate, I released the brake and reapplied the brake as hard as I could. It still hit the car in front of me. It didn't look like there was any damage to their car, but I was very shaken up and now I am worried this will happen again. It happened today, April 18, 2024. My mother was in the car and was as shocked and stressed as I am as the van went from very slow to fast. My body is still shaking. I haven't had it inspected yet. I have an appointment on May 1, 2024, to go to Odonnell Honda. The woman receptionist in the service area said I may have had my foot on the gas. I did not because when I pull into a parking spot, I always have my foot on the brake and go in very slowly. As a brand-new van, I am very alarmed and very nervous it could happen again.

Since April of the following year, I have repeatedly experienced heightened noise and vibration originating from the rear wheels. Despite numerous visits to the Honda 385 dealership and their assurance that they have documented and forwarded the concerns to Honda representatives for review, resolution has remained elusive. Regrettably, after an extended period of waiting, I was informed on February 26th, 2024, that the issue has been declined. This decision is profoundly troubling, particularly considering the potential safety implications. It is evident that a new car exhibiting such significant damage to the wheels, accompanied by pronounced noise and vibration, poses a serious safety hazard, especially during highway driving conditions. The persistent nature of these issues underscores the urgency of addressing them promptly and comprehensively. As a conscientious consumer, I cannot in good faith continue to operate a vehicle that may compromise the safety of myself, passengers, and other road users. I implore Honda and the dealership to prioritize the resolution of this matter with the utmost urgency, ensuring that the vehicle is restored to a safe and reliable condition. Furthermore, I urge for a thorough reevaluation of the safety concerns raised, recognizing the paramount importance of ensuring the integrity and reliability of the vehicles entrusted to consumers. It is my sincere hope that swift action will be taken to rectify these safety issues and restore confidence in the vehicle's performance and reliability.

Forward Collision Warning in conjunction with Emergency Braking have major safety issues that need to be addressed. 1st occurance: Driving through a construction zone through cones for lane realignment, van suddenly applied brakes in heavy traffic despite no obstacles in vans path. Vehicle quickly recovered. 2nd occurance: Driving on a dark street, van heavily applied brakes despite no obstacles. The braking occurred rapidly and van nearly came to a stop. Attempted to press harder on gas to override system with zero results. Had I been on a busier street, it would have resulted in a vehicle crash. This is a major safety issues that needs to be addressed by Honda with a recall.

While accelerating, well after a car far infront of me turned, the forward collision warning went off and automatically applied full breaks while I was accelerating slamming my legs into the dash. My kid has marks from his car seat. This is 3rd and most sever instance of this almost causing a severe crash behind me. While I hate the automatic idle stop function and want it gone, it hasn’t worked in 4 week and randomly started doing it today and now stopped again. The AC in the seets also stopped working when temps hit 110 in Phoenix.

The automatic emergency braking system will apply the brakes and try to slow or stop the car when there is nothing in front of the vehicle. This could cause a car following to hit my vehicle because they would not expect my vehicle to suddenly slow or stop. The service center at my Honda dealership was told of the issue and said this was normal. They did not think the system needed to be looked at. The vehicle does not have any warning lights or messages. When the brake is applied my the vehicle the dash indicates that the brake has been applied.

The problems occurred to a brand new 2023 Odyssey only few days (roughly 8 days) after purchase. I was driving the vehicle on road in my community, I came to a STOP sign and stopped, then I was about to turn right but found it was kind of difficult to turn, at same time I heard the sound of crack coming from underneath the steering wheel. I felt that I almost lost control of the vehicle if I did stop at STOP sign, anyway I was able to turn the vehicle as the speed was low and continued to drive slowly. Shortly, several warning icons lighted up on dashboard, including "Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem", "Lane Keeping Assist Problem", "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem", "Charging System Problem". After that, I drove the vehicle to dealer as soon as I can and dropped the vehicle for diagnosis and repair. It has been 6 days since the vehicle was dropped at dealer and has not been repaired, I got email from service manager saying that the gauge control module was fault.

When the car is on adaptive Cruise Control, going downhill it won't correctly control the speed and keeps on accelerating, Austin hill country at one point I managed to gain up to 20 miles above the set cruise speed limit. I have reported this to the First Texas Honda service department, took a test drive with their technician, and reproduced the issue, in a small test managed to increase 10 miles above the set cruise limit. Honday service advisor later contacted me and told me that they had tested several other same-model cars, and all of them have the same behavior therefore there is no recall any error for them to fix, just use the break to reduce the speed that actually disable the cruise control
