I own a 2019 Honda Passport. There is a safety concern when it comes to THE IDLE STOP feature. If I do not immediately turn this feature off after starting the vehicle, the car will shut off at a traffic light and stall. It takes up to a minute for the vehicle and operator to register that the vehicle is no longer operable. The vehicle must be manually put into park, restarted, and then put into drive before the vehicle can be driven. This has happened so many times that this stop feature is now destroying my starter and will have to be replaced immediately to avoid being stranded at an intersection or somewhere not safe to exit the vehicle. My 18-year-old daughter had a panic attack, not knowing what to do, and became very upset when she was not able to drive after a light turned green. Vehicles behind her continuously honk at her and drive aggressively around her. The Honda Stop Idle must be listed as a recall immediately to eliminate a potential fatal risk due to a misunderstanding at an intersection. My daughter refuses to drive this vehicle until the feature is repaired. I feel Honda should be held responsible for a feature that is not necessary to operate a vehicle. It's an option that is an inconvenience to the owner/operator. I am looking for this part to be added to a recall so that I can have the part replaced at no cost to me.
The CMBS alerts braking despite there being no obstacles in front or around the vehicle. Also, the at stop lights when the engine shuts off, on several occasions the car has completely turned off and will not let you do anything (place in park or drive) until you manually start it again.
First issue was I was in need of a transmission while only having the car for 1.5 years. I reached out to Honda corporate and I was unable to receive any help with goodwill. Secondly I am now experiencing issues with my alarm going off suddenly, and frequently. The dash board lights up and flickers. Upon doing research I have found that 2019 Honda passport has had major issues with transmissions, keyless modules controls and electronic issues. In addition my radio keeps going off and it says connection is lost. This has also been a very known and common issues upon doing research on the 2019 Honda passport There’s different dates for events. I will be able to email my invoice for my transmission
I was at a stoplight on a bridge in a left turning lane for ramp entry onto an interstate. I was going zero mph, with foot on brake. My auto idle stop was engaged. When the light turned green, I took my foot off the brake. At that moment my engine did NOT restart, instead my car stalled. Cars were coming up behind me going 45-50 mph as they saw the light was green. It was very scary, as I thought I would get rear-ended. I had to step on my brake, turn off car, then step on brake again to restart the car. I cannot trust the auto idle stop feature. At this point I try to always turn that feature off upon start-up. (1) to avoid the above situation and (2) to avoid breakdown of key components especially the starter.
Car does not restart after auto-stop leaving car stranded at times in an intersection or stop and start highway traffic. It will restart after putting the car in park and waiting several seconds. One instance I had to get a jump. After getting a new battery, it still occurred. Battery showed dead cells so had to get it replaced again (on warranty). Issue is still occurring when forgetting to disable auto-stop
Vehicle stuck in neutral at stop light, unable to turn off or move vehicle for several minutes. This has happened THREE different times.
Gear select switch drive button would stick in the depressed state. People unfamiliar with the problem could not switch the car back into drive after reversing.
Car won’t turn back on after coming to a complete stop at a red light or stop sign. It has happened multiple times and I have taken it to the dealership a few years ago and they couldn’t help me out. The car goes into neutral mode and I have to completely turn the car off and restart it. It keeps happening so I have to turn the idle stop button off when I plan to drive anywhere. It happens off and on.
I have had several incidents where my car does not restart after auto-idling at a stop light. When there is a delay in restarting, a warning flashes briefly that there is an issue with the collision mitigation system. On some occasions, it fails to restart completely and I have to turn off the car, open the door to reset everything, then close the door to restart the car. I have had it inspected by Honda several times and was most recently told it needed a software update, but it has continued to happen since the software update.
What component malfunctioned: The driver's side visor has malfunctioned and is extremely difficult to raise and lower. It's motion has become very stiff and requires both of the driver's hands to raise or lower it, which means that the driver must remove their hands from the steering wheel to utilize the visor. It is available for inspection as it is still installed in the car. Safety Risk: The malfunctioning visor is a safety risk to both the driver, the car's other occupants and other drivers as it requires both of the driver's hands to raise or lower it which means the driver must temporarily take their hands from the steering wheel while driving to operate the visor. Removing ones hands from the steering wheel can cause the car to be temporarily undirected by the driver which can result in accidents. The malfunctioning visor also creates a visibility hazard. As the visor is too difficult to raise and lower, the driver can be blinded by the sun glare that the visor would normally block. such a visibility issue can lead to accidents, especially if there is oncoming traffic. Inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others:? The dealership (Ziegler Honda, Kalamazoo Michigan) was asked to look at the visor to determine why it wasn't working correctly. They informed me that this was a common issue with this model of Honda and that the only option to fix it is total replacement at a cost of $300. This would not be covered by insurance and there is currently no recall in place to address the defect. Warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The visor started to not function smoothing in Summer of 2024 and the problem has consistently progressed to the point that the visor is now extremely difficult to raise and lower and requires to hands to move. I can provide a video of the visor's operation showing how difficult it is to move.
Unknown component failure on 2019 Honda Passport. While operating the vehicle, the engine shut off and automatically placed the vehicle in neutral. The battery light appeared on the dashboard, and instructed, "To start engine: Brake + Push". The vehicle would not allow me to press the start button unless placed in park, however, the vehicle would not allow me to select park while the engine was off. After a few minutes, I was able to place the vehicle in park, but the engine would not immediately start upon pressing the start button. I then had to manually reset the vehicle by pressing the start button three times before the engine would turn on again. This issue has occurred three times over a span of three months. Once while I was parked. Once while I was operating on the highway, thus posing a risk being rear-ended at a high speed. And once while I was operating through an intersection on the main road, again posing a risk of being rear-ended or T-boned. During these times, the vehicle was rendered inoperable until it was eventually restarted. There were no warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the times of failure. It is noted the issue seems to present itself while the speed of the vehicle is decreasing. For instance, while slowing in traffic on the highway and on the main road. The issue was brought to the attention of the Honda Service Center on two separate occasions. Both times Honda was unable to replicate the issue or identify the component at fault. Honda stated that the vehicle diagnostics and computer system presented no codes or record of the malfunction. The issue remains unresolved.
Traveling up a hill of 5-degree incline. 20 MPH speed limit. Came to complete stop, pushed reverse button. Back over prevention camera did not activate. Did not depress gas pedal. Vehicle rolled backward 35 feet before coming to rest partially in traffic and partially in private driveway. Instrument panel indicated vehicle P for park throughout the entire event. After coming to rest: (partially in traffic) Vehicle would not shift out of park. Error messages on Instrument Panel stated: "Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual." Check Engine was not illuminated. Turned off car and back on. Same error message was still present. Gear selector buttons would not respond and vehicle remained in Park, partially stuck in traffic. Repeatedly attempted to get vehicle to shift out of park. Eventually the Battery Positive Terminal was removed and reapplied and tightened Vehicle started, error message no longer present. Vehicle shifted out of Park into Reverse. Back Over Prevention Camera activated at this time.
Backup camera became distorted with colors, replaced at dealership today under extended warranty with a deductible.
BOTH SUN VISORS, DRIVER AND PASSENGER ARE EXTREMELY HARD TO DEPLOY, WITH SIGNIFICANT RESISTANCE ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD CREAKING NOISE. THEY ARE A DEFINITE HAZARD TO WHEN MOVING. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER, AND HONDA AMERICA, AS WELL. AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, MY ONLY OPTION IS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. HAVING OWNED MULTIPLE HONDAS (AT LEAST 7) OF DIFFERENT MODELS, ALL ACCRUING MILEAGE BEYOND WARRANTY LIMITITATIONS, AND NEVER EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM, I FIND THE SITUATION MOST FRUSTRATING AND PERPLEXING. HONDA AMERICA DISMISSES ANY RESPONSIBILITY ON THEIR PART AS 'NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR'. THE MOST SIMPLE OF MECHANICAL FEATURES IN THE UNT COULD LEAD TO TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. I DOCUMENTED THE ISSUE AS AN INCIDENT OF 10/21/24, BUT IN FACT THE ISSUE OCCURS WHENEVER ONE DRIVES THE VEHICLE, AND HAS BEEN DOING SO A LONG TIME. I FELT CERTAIN HONDA WOULD ADDRESS WITH A SAFETY RECALL.
Car shut off in the middle of [XXX] in East Brunswick NJ. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Backup camera is suddenly distorted with green and pink colors covering the actual image. The image changes each time, but is often very hard or impossible to safely view what is behind vehicle while backing up. Vehicle is garage kept, no sun or water damage possible. This significantly increases the risk of a crash while backing up. Because the image is so distorted, it often looks like there is an object present, causing driver to swerve even though there is not really anything there. Many other 2019 Passport owners are reporting the same thing in online forums. Honda insists this is a malfunctioning camera, but will not accept it as a manufacturing defect.
When engaging the accelerator after auto-stop the entire vehicle stalled. Nothing was displayed on the dash or media console, the vehicle cut off, no steering, and no acceleration. When attempting to restart the vehicle it failed multiple attempts until about 45-60 seconds later. Thankfully this occurred at a redlight, but it was a single lane and other drivers behind me were not pleased. This has happened twice now.
Well, driving the car south on [XXX] the electrically operated moonroof in the vehicle shattered and broke into pieces. The interior sliding blackout panel was closed and no glass entered the car, but the remaining glass spread out over the roof of the car and out onto the highway and back of the vehicle. The vehicle is now at the local Honda dealer for repair. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The auto engine idle stop is experiencing issues. Sitting a a light the system with the auto engine idle engaged, the system did not turn the car back on. The dash board lights all flickered and the doors lock went on and off. Also the car appeared to put itself into neutral.
On two occasions this summer, after coming to a complete stop at an intersection, the car initially failed to restart (with the stop-start feature in use). On both occasions I was able to restart it within 30 seconds. Other than temporarily inconveniencing the drivers behind me, so far this has not yet caused a bigger problem. I have not yet tried to have a dealer or independent service center reproduce or confirm the problem. If any type of message appeared when this happened, it appeared too briefly for me to notice or read it. This problem appears to me to be the same that has been reported for some Honda Pilots and other models. This Passport has a 3.5 liter V6 engine and 9-speed automatic transmission.
The engine auto start feature. The engine shuts off when stopped for a period and restarts when gas pedal is pressed. 8/14 engine did not restart, took the entire green light cycle to get engine restarted. started to turn off that feature when i remember. 8/18 engine did not restart when leaving a parking lot, took about a minute to get engine started. I emailed honda on 8/15 via their website, Case #14055209, so far I have only received an automated response assigning a case number
Since I purchased this car in 2020, I have regularly experienced my car stalling out because of the auto idle function. The car shuts off when I brake and then does not turn back on, leaving me stranded in traffic until I can manually shut off my car and turn it back on. This is a major safety hazard that Honda has yet to properly address. Honda had a recall to "fix" this, which was just a software update. This was conducted 5/12/2023 on my car. Unfortunately, today (5/20/2023) my car stalled out again at a traffic light due to the auto idle function. Honda needs to address this issue, and if they cannot, then they need to provide those with defective models a path to upgrade their car.
After all the work done on my car including the key fobs I’m still having issues that the dealer said were fixed. The first image happened 10.15.22 two days after getting the keys reset on 10.13.22 (not the first time it ever happened it started in 2020 after I got a brand new 2019 Passport) and it’s happened several more times thereafter “ Keyless Remote Not Detected Press” aka my key fob is considered not remotely close to my car when in fact it’s right there. The last photo is from 10.30.22 now, this one scared me because I tried to start my car twice and nothing happened. No juice! No inside/outside car lights! No dashboard action! The 3rd attempt produced the message about placing the key to the start button and it worked. I don’t know what’s going on but this car has the worst electrical system than any car I’ve had. What am I supposed to do if the car does not start since it’s keyless and placing it by the start button doesn’t work? I’ve emailed the dealer on 10/30/22 no reply there are no recalls but we all know that can take some time just like when I had radio issues that couldn’t be recreated when I had my car serviced Honda wrote me off and no fix. Then time passed and the recall was issued and owners were given the option to select “I’m Sorry Consolation” things either refunds for repairs with proof, free XM satellite radio or HondaLink service. I’ve added 2 additional photos with my key fob in my hand yet, the car dash is basically saying it’s not close.
While we were driving home from work at highway speeds with nobody in front or around us, we heard a loud pop and heard what sound like glass pelting off of the roof of the vehicle. We then look in the rear view mirror and see it flying from the car. We pull over to the side of the road and realize that our sunroof had exploded. After doing some research we found out that we were not the only ones that this has happened to.
I bought the car at 49,000 miles, 7 months ago. Intermittently, when the auto engine idle stop engages, the car will not restart and leaves me stuck in traffic, trying to restart it. It normally takes a couple of minutes to get it started, leaving me vulnerable to oncoming cars.
My 2019 Honda Passport has the fuel-saving stop-start system. At least once a day while driving, my engine will not restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or intersection. While I am waiting at the intersection, the engine cuts off and shifts to neutral and will not shift back to drive when I release the brake. It usually takes a couple of times to try to restart the car before it can be put into drive. This situation has been going on for approximately one year and there are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
1. Harsh acceleration 2. In side SUV hearing wind 3. When starting vehicle, place foot on brake, press start button, vehicle moves slightly forward then back. 4. Placing items in trunk, vehicle moves slightly forward then back
Auto Engine Idle has an inconsistent issue with not restarting. When at a full stop, the engine goes to neutral and does not restart. This has left me temporarily stranded while I attempt a full restart. The dealer claims to not being able to duplicate the issue. The battery has consistently tested fine. I now manually shut off this option before driving.
Honda service bulletin 18-080 ac does not blow cold air in my 2019 Passport The alert does not include my vin, yet I am having exact same issue . Vehicle has less than 32,500 miles Please advise
The issue is with Honda's idle stop feature. Several times I have been stopped at a stop light and once I try to accelerate, the engine has turned completely off and the gear has shifted to neutral. I then have to put the vehicle back in Park and restart the engine. Fortunately I have not been rear-ended yet but that is inevitable. Honda claims they cannot replicate the issue but it has happened to me on many occasions.
I stopped at red-light and the auto stop idle was engaged. Once the light changed, and I removed my foot from the brake to disengage the auto idle, unexpectedly the gear just shifted to Neutral . I then had put it in park , and press the ignition start button . It took a couple times before restarting. I had to endure other drivers honking and yelling at me, because I was the 1st car at the stop light. This has happened at least 8-10 times in the past 4 months. After having my vehicle for 3 days, the dealer said they couldn't find the problem . Wih road rage what it is in these times, something like that could spark alot of frustration in other drivers. I have read blogs about other honda passport owners having the same issue. HONDA REALLY NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE!
Popping crackling noise from dashboard Screen went blank Sporadic occurrences when driving with radio On and Off Dealer says NO CODES Found?
The rear axle appears to be coming apart at the bolts and is separating from the car. If the axle separates it will result in a major car failure resulting in lack of control of the car. There are no warning lights on.
While driving on I-65 N 10 miles outside of Nashville, TN my sun roof exploded. We did not experience any object hitting the car nor had we passed under an overpass for an object to be thrown at the car. The explosion was frightening as it was a loud unexpected noise. The pieces flew off and hit the car behind me cracking it's windshield. I've report this issue to Honda but have not heard from them.
SUN ROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED ON HIGHWAY WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES IN AREA, NOR ANYTHING OVERHEAD, NOR ANY ROAD DEBRIS. PRIOR TO EXPLOSION, MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN GARAGED AND NEVER HIT WITH DEBRIS OF ANY KIND. WHEN INCIDENT OCCURRED I WAS DRIVING UP RAMP TO HIGHWAY SPEED (60MPH) FIRST THERE WAS A LOUD POP, THEN A VERY LOUD EXPLOSION ABOUT 200-300 YARDS LATER. I LOOKED TO SEE IF ANYONE WAS AROUND ME (OR ANYTHING OVER ME) IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE WAS SHOOTING AT MY CAR. SHORTLY AFTER THE LOUD EXPLOSION I COULD HEAR GLASS FRAGMENTS RAINING DOWN INSIDE MY SUN SHIELD (THANKFULLY CLOSED) OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN SHATTERED GLASS WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. GLASS FRAGMENTS SKITTERED OVER MY ROOF AND SHOOK ABOVE MY HEAD UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO EXIT ROADWAY AND MAKE A COMPLETE STOP. I CLIMBED ONTO MY RUNNING BOARD AND SAW DIAGONAL STRESS FRACTURES FROM CORNER TO CORNER. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP SINCE IT WAS A SLIGHTLY OVERCAST DAY AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT RAIN. I TOOK ANOTHER PICTURE OF THE SHATTERED SUNROOF AT THE DEALERSHIP: THE GLASS IS BROKEN OUT IN THE SHAPE OF AN HOURGLASS. DEALER TOLD ME REPAIR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY CLAIMED THEY'D NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING AND REFUSED TO COVER DAMAGE AND TOLD ME TO HAVE REPAIR DONE BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. FORTUNATELY, MY DEALER ULTIMATELY TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR HONDA'S SHORTCOMINGS AND REPAIRED AT NO COST. I AM AFRAID TO EVER DRIVE VEHICLE WITH SUNSHADE OPEN FOR FEAR THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I AM LUCKY I DID NOT CRASH ON HIGHWAY AND WOULD HAVE IF SHADE HAD BEEN OPEN.

THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT THE PASSPORT IN MAY OF 2020 IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES. OCCASIONALLY, WHILE IN MOTION AND DRIVING 45-60 MPH ON A TWO LANE ROAD, PARTICULARLY ON A CURVE TO THE RIGHT (HAS OCCURRED ON STRAIGHT STRETCHES TOO) THE ANTI-COLLISION BRAKE SYSTEM WILL APPLY THE BRAKES AS A WARNING. THE SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS UP ORANGE WITH LARGE LETTERS TWICE IN A ROW (BRAKE! BRAKE!). AT THIS TIME I CAN FEEL THE BRAKES APPLIED LIGHTLY AND THE DEALERS SERVICE WRITER HAS CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALSO ACTIVATE. THIS HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY IN MY VEHICLE (AND ACCORDING TO MANY ON THE PASSPORT OWNERS FORUMS IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM). WITH ME IT WILL HAPPEN AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 75-100 MILES OR MORE FREQUENTLY. ON A TRIP IN JULY OF ABOUT 5000 MILES, THIS OCCURRED OVER A HUNDRED TIMES. I HAVE ONLY SEEN THIS SYSTEM OPERATE CORRECTLY TWICE, WITH CARS IN FRONT OF ME.....THE OTHER TIMES THE CAR IS IN THE ONCOMING LANE. ONCE, A CAR PASSED ME ON AN INTERSTATE (ME IN RIGHT LANE, HE IN LEFT, SAME DIRECTION) AND WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 20 FEET AHEAD OF ME THE WARNING ACTIVATED. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN TWICE MENTIONING THIS PROBLEM AND THE TECHNICIAN HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM ON THEIR SHORT TEST DRIVE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT HONDA USA SUGGESTED THEY CHECK THE AIMING OF THE WINDSHIELD CAMERA AND THE FRONT EMBLEM RADAR. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THESE THE SECOND TIME I HAD IT IN THEY SAID THESE BOTH WERE AIMED PROPERLY AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY TELL ME I CAN DISABLE THIS AT THE START OF EVERY TRIP BUT IF I FORGET TO DO THAT AND HAPPEN TO HAVE THIS OCCUR ON AN ICY ROAD IN WINTER, IT'S NOT SAFE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN TWICE FOR THREE RECALLS ALREADY AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE OR FIX THIS PROBLEM. AND IT ACTIVATED AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME AFTER MY LAST RECALL APPOINTMENT SO IT IS STILL A PROBLEM.

SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WITHOUT CAUSE. NOTHING HIT MY CAR AND NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE NEARBY, NOR WAS VEHICLE HIT WITH ANY FLYING DEBRIS WHILE DRIVING UP A HIGHWAY ENTRANCE RAMP, WITH MY SPEED INCREASING FROM 45-55MPH. I HEARD WIND NOISE AND THOUGHT PASSENGER WINDOW MIGHT BE DOWN SLIGHTLY SO I OPENED WINDOW ABOUT 2 INCHES AND CLOSED, THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER I HEARD A LOUD CRASHING CRACK NOISE AND APPROXIMATELY 2-3 SECOND LATER A VERY LOUD EXPLOSION NOISE AND GLASS DEBRIS FLEW OFF THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE. I EXITED HIGHWAY AND PULLED OVER AND NOTED HUGE DIMPLE AND APPROX 1 FOOT HOLE IN GLASS AND COMPLETE CRACKING AND GLASS FRAGMENTS ON SLIDING INTERIOR COVER. THE CAR HAS ONLY 4500 MILES AND IS STORED IN A SECURE GARAGE. IT HAD BEEN OUT IN THE SUN FOR LESS THAN 10 MINUTES AND THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME WAS 68 AND SUNNY. I CALLED TO REPORT TO MY INSURANCE BUT THEN A FRIEND CHECKED INTERNET AND TOLD ME I SHOULD CALL MY DEALER. I DID AND THEY HAD ME BRING VEHICLE THERE AND TOLD ME THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING BEFORE. I FIND THIS SURPRISING SINCE THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF ISSUES REPORTED ONLINE.

THE HONDA SENSING SYSTEM ALMOST CONSTANTLY THINKS THERE IS A VEHICLE COMING AT YOU WHEN THERE ISN'T ONE COMING AT YOU. IT WILL SHAKE THE STEERING WHEEL AND FLASH THE ORANGE BRAKE WARNING AT YOU. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ALSO STOPS WORKING ALMOST EVERY DRIVE AS WELL AND SAYS THERE IS NO INPUT FOR AUDIO. *TR

WHEN USING THE AUDIO SYSTEM (APPLEAIRPLAY, BLUETOOTH, SIRIUS OR FM RADIO), THE SPEAKERS AT SOME POINT WILL BEGIN CRACKLING AND MAKING POPPING NOISES, SIMILAR TO STATIC NOISES, WHICH CAUSES THE MUSIC TO INTERRUPT AND CUT OUT. EVEN WHEN YOU TURN THE AUDIO OFF, THE SPEAKERS CONTINUE TO MAKE THE CRACKLE AND POP SOUNDS. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND OPEN THE DOOR TO COMPLETELY CUT OFF THE AUDIO. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND IS A COMPLETE DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. THE DISPLAY SCREEN ALSO CUTS IN AND OUT WHILE IN USE USING THE BACKUP CAMERA, MUSIC OR GOOGLE MAPS, ETC. AS WELL. THE CAR CAN BE IN MOTION OR PARKED, IT HAPPENS. THIS STARTED IN FEB 2020, 1 MONTH AFTER LEASING THE CAR AND APPROX 1000 MILES.

WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC). NO CARS AHEAD OF ME, SEVERAL BEHIND. THE CAR ICON ON MY DASH (LIGHTS UP WHILE USING ACC) BEGAN FLASHING THEN MY PASSPORT (ON IT'S OWN) SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS, FORCING MY DAUGHTER AND I INTO OUR SEATBELTS HARD, AND FORCED THE CARS BEHIND TO SLAM ON THEIR BREAKS. THE BREAK WARNING THAT USUALLY FLASHES ON THE DASH WHEN THERE'S A REASON TO BREAK DIDN'T HAPPEN. IT WAS A CLOSE CALL BUT EVERYONE AVOIDED A COLLISION. IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY'D NEVER HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING BUT I GOOGLED IT AND THE ISSUE POPS UP SEVERAL TIMES IN ONLINE FORUMS AND THERE'S A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FROM 2017 CR-V'S FROM PROBLEMS WITH THE ACC. WAITING TO HEAR WHAT DEALERSHIP SAYS, BUT THE GUY SAID THEY'D JUST TAKE IT FOR A FEW TEST DRIVES AND SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING VEHICLE NOW!

THE AUTOMATIC POWER LIFT GATE CAN NOT BE STOPPED WHEN IN THE PROCESS OF CLOSING. THE LIFT GATE ALMOST CLOSED ON MY CHILD'S ARM. MY CHILD REACHED BACK INTO THE CARGO AREA TO GET SOMETHING OUT AFTER I HAD ALREADY PRESSED THE POWER LIFT GATE BUTTON IN ORDER TO CLOSE IT. WHEN I REALIZED MY CHILD'S ARM WAS IN THE CARGO AREA, I ATTEMPTED TO USE MY HANDS TO PUSH THE LIFT GATE BACK OPEN AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. FORTUNATELY, MY CHILD GOT WAS ABLE TO GET HER ARM OUT FAST ENOUGH SO SHE WASN'T INJURED. THE LIFT GATE SHOULD NOT CONTINUE TO CLOSE ONCE IT ENCOUNTERS RESISTANCE.

I COPIED THIS FROM SOMEONE POSTING, SINCE IT IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING AND MORE. 'THE ENGINE WILL JUST REV HIGHER AND HIGHER OVER 4K REVS. I CANNOT EVEN DRIVE THE 25-MILE SPEED LIMIT WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SETTINGS ARE IN THE STANDARD DRIVE MODE DURING THESE EVENTS. I ALSO INFORMED THEM THAT THE AUTO HIGH BEAM FEATURE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY.' THE REMOTE CONTROL CONNECT DOESN'T WORK. SIDE SENSORS WORK INTERMITENTLY. IT ACCELERATES WHEN RELEASING THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE SUV DOESN'T PICK UP SPEED. IT MAKES LOUD ACCELERATING NOISE AND SLOWS DOWN INSTEAD OF GOING FASTER. HEATER MAKES PITCHING NOISE. THESE HAPPENED CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. IT'S NOT JUST ONE TIME OCCURANCE. MY CAR HAS ONLY 3100 MILES

STARTING AT ABOUT 500 MILES, A CRACKLING NOISE WOULD PROPAGATE THROUGH THE SPEAKERS AND THE INFOTAINMENT AND REARVIEW CAMERA WOULD SHUT OFF. TOOK THE CAR FOR SERVICE AND THE FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW HUNDRED MILES WHEN IT CAME BACK MUCH MORE SEVERE. STEPPING ON THE GAS, OR BUMPS WOULD PRODUCE ERRATIC ISSUES, NOT ONLY FREEZING THE INFOTAINMENT ALONG WITH INTENSE CRACKLING NOISES, BUT ALSO, BRAKING ON ITS OWN. TOOK THE CAR TO BACK FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE BRAKING ON ITS OWN ISSUE. NOT UNSURPRISING BECAUSE THE PATTERN OF PROBLEMS IS RANDOM. SERVICE AT LEAST ADMITTED THE INFOTAINMENT ISSUES AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT HONDA IS WORKING ON A REPAIR INVOLVING REPLACEMENT OF THE HARNESS. THEY WANTED TO REPLACE THE INFOTAINMENT UNIT BUT THE PART WOULD NOT BE IN STOCK FOR ALMOST 4 WEEKS. THE PROBLEMS HAVE ONLY WORSENED SINCE AND NOW BLACKING OUT OF THE SPEEDOMETER IS THE LATEST SAFETY ISSUE. CALLED HONDA AND ASKED TO HAVE THE CAR REPLACED, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I AM A LIAR AND THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED ONCE YET. THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE PROVIDED THE MOST DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED DENYING THE ISSUES AND TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUE AND BASICALLY IMPLYING THAT THE INFOTAINMENT PROBLEM ALMOST DOES NOT EXIST. HE LIED TELLING ME THAT HONDA IS NOT WORKING ON ANY PERMANENT FIX, AS ACCORDING TO HIM THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. DEALER AND SERVICE EMPLOYEES ALL KNOW THE PROBLEM, BUT HONDA BELIEVES THAT ITS CUSTOMERS ARE IDIOTS WITH ZERO INTELLIGENCE. MADE ME REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF USING A LAWYER AND PARTICIPATING IN CLASS ACTIONS, AS THE ONLY WAY HONDA WILL RESPOND TO THE "ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM" IS THROUGH LEGAL ACTION. I ALSO HOPE NHTSA WILL ACT QUICKLY ON THIS VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM AND FORCE A SOLUTION.

SINCE I HAVE LEASED THE VEHICLE, THE COLLISION MITIGATION BREAKING SYSTEM IS COMING ON WHEN NOT NEEDED, AT TIMES DURING HIGHWAY SPEEDS.. I HAVE BEEN NEARLY REAR-ENDED THREE TIMES, THE LATEST CAUSING THE MAN BEHIND ME TO ALMOST GO OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH (THANKFULLY HE WAS ABLE TO JUST BARELY AVOID THIS) AND IT IS HAPPENING WHEN MY HUSBAND IS DRIVING THE CAR AS WELL. IT IS VERY STARTLING AND WORRISOME. THE CAR ACTUALLY NOSEDIVES AND COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP AT TIMES'OTHER TIMES IT BREAKS SUDDENLY AND THEN RELEASES OR I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT DOWN ON THE GAS WHILE TRYING TO DISENGAGE THE SYSTEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP A FEW TIMES ALREADY AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX IT AS IT CANNOT BE REPLICATED WHEN THEY HAVE HAD IT (WEEKS CAN GO BY IN BETWEEN WHEN IT HAPPENS) AND I HAVE EXPRESSED I DO NOT WANT THEM CONSTANTLY DRIVING MY VEHICLE TRYING TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE WHEN I WAS TOLD EXPLICITLY THAT IF THIS HAPPENS AND THEY'RE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, MY INSURANCE IS RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA MOTOR AMERICA WHERE A CASE HAS BEEN OPENED AND CLOSED VERY QUICKLY. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT IT IS PRETTY MUCH NOT THEIR PROBLEM, I AM ON MY OWN UNLESS I AM ABLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN IN FRONT OF AN ADVISOR, OR HAVE AN ADVISOR DRIVE MY CAR FREQUENTLY (LIKE USING IT TO GO TO AND FROM WORK, ETC. BEING THEY DO NOT DRIVE IT FAR WHEN TRYING TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE) AND THEY DO NOT HOLD ANY LIABILITY IF THIS ISSUE IS TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHERE MYSELF OR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE WORK ARE INJURED IN ANY CAPACITY. I ALSO HAVE BEEN GETTING WARNING LIGHTS AT TIMES THAT THE SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING AND MY AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAMS HAVE BEGUN TO NOT WORK PROPERLY AS WELL. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE ONLY FIX IS TO 'IF I WERE YOU I WOULD JUST SHUT IT OFF EVERY TIME I GET IN THE CAR'. I WANT IT TO WORK PROPERLY BEING IT WAS PART OF THE REASON I LEASED THE VEHICLE AS IT'S STANDARD EQUIPMENT,

6000 ON ODOMETER.COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM IS TOO SENSITIVE. THE "BRAKE" NOTICE WILL FLASH ON THE DASH SCREEN AT TIMES WHERE IS NO DANGER OF A COLLISION. AT TIMES THE SYSTEM WILL APPLY THE BRAKES WHEN THERE IS NO DANGER OF A COLLISION. THIS MAY RESULT IN VEHICLE BEING STRUCK FROM THE REAR BY A FOLLOWING VEHICLE. INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AND INSTRUMENT PANEL BOTH WENT BLACK TODAY AND STOPPED WORKING FOR NO REASON. CAR HAS ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO WORK THIS MORNING WITH EVERYTHING WORKING. WHEN I STARTED IT TO GO HOME AT END OF DAY NEITHER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OR INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WOULD WORK; BOTH WERE JUST BLACK SCREENS. HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST HONDA FOR INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM PROBLEMS AND WANT TO REPORT MY ISSUE. EXTREMELY CONCERNING SITUATION AS CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT INSTRUMENT PANEL.
Mileage: 3,000
THE INFOTAINMENT INFORMATION DISPLAY BECOMES BLANK INTERMITTENTLY. DATA CONNECTION LOSS RADIO SIGNAL LOSS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN SCREEN IS ACTIVE. SPEED INDICATOR PANEL GOES BLANK INTERMITTENTLY. IT IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN IF SAFETY FEATURES ARE COMPROMISED AT THIS TIME. HONDA HAS REPLACED SYSTEMS AND THE PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. GIVEN THESE PROBLEMS THE VEHICLE IS NOT BEING DRIVEN. THESE EVENTS ARE WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON VERY FAT, TO SLIGHTLY BUMPY SURFACES. HARDER JARRING HAS NOT CREATED SIMILAR EVENTS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED PREVIOUSLY. AND CONTINUES AFTER HONDA RECOMMENDED REPAIR.

ALL FOUR EMERGENCY GRAB HANDLES LOOSE. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM TIGHTENED AND WAS INSTEAD SHOWN THAT OTHER PASSPORTS ALL SHARE THE SAME PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THAT THE LOOSE GRAB HANDLES ARE A CHARACTERISTIC BY AN AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE AND SO UNABLE TO BE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. NUMEROUS OTHER FIT/FINISH ISSUES HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED WITH THE DEALERSHIP; LOOSE LEATHER WRAPPING ON STEERING WHEEL, LOOSE A PILLAR TRIM, RATTLING FROM INSIDE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, LOOSE ROOF RAIL TRIM(BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT), FRONT HEADLIGHT BLACK PLASTIC INSERT IS LOOSE ON BOTH SIDES. ALL OF THESE FIT/FINISH ISSUES ARE SHARED AMONGST MANY PASSPORTS AS SHOWN TO ME ON THE DEALERSHIP LOT AND DUE TO THIS HONDA WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUES.
