AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ACTIVATED. I TOOK MY 2004 HONDA PILOT WITH CALIFORNIA LICENSE PLATE NUMBER [XXX] TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN HEMET CALIFORNIA ON DECEMBER 14 2022 TO CHECK THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A $100.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE BECAUSE THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE AIRBAG RECALL PROGRAM. MY VEHICLE IS 20 YEARS OLD AND I'M WORRIED THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG IS UNSAFE AND COULD BE ACCIDENTLY ACTIVATED AND CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. MY VEHICLE HAS OVER 300,000 MILES. AS OF TODAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2023, THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP IS STILL ON. IS THE ACTIVATED AIR BAG WARNING LAMP COVERED UNDER THE AIR BAG RECALL PROGRAM? AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP CHARGES $100.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE. I WAS TOLD IT'S NOT PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY. MY VEHICLE IS 20 YEARS OLD. I BELEIVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AIRBAGS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. IN THE CASE OF AN AIRBAG ACTIVATION AND I AM INJURIED OR KILLED FROM A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG. I HAVE PROOF THAT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WAS ADVISED ON DECEMBER 14, 2022. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SIX (6) MONTHS AND CANNOT GET IT CORRECTED.

DESPITE THIS I HAVE BEEN GETTING LETTERS INCORRECTLY STATING THAT I DIDN'T GET IT REPAIRED YET. I HAVE UPLOADED THE DOCUMENTATION SHOWING THE AIRBAG REPAIR DONE ON 10/15/2015. PLEASE CORRECT THE RECORD SO I STOP GETTING THE MAILINGS REGARDING THIS. I ALSO WANT TO CORRECT THE RECORD SO THERE IS NO PROBLEM IF I WANT TO SELL THE CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DEALER (FIRST TEXAS HONDA, 3400 STECK AVE, AUSTIN, TX 78757) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY UNLESS THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT A CERTAIN SPEED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

LATE IN 2015 I RECEIVED A MAILING FROM WILDE HONDA, WAUKESHA, WI AN "URGENT/RECALL NOTICE" CONCERNING MY 2004 HONDA PILOT REGARDING A POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE AIRBAG INFLATOR. I CONTACTED THE DEALER LISTED AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. I DROPPED MY CAR OFF ON 12/28/15 TO HAVE THIS REPAIR PERFORMED. . THE REASON FOR THE APPOINTMENT WAS THIS AIRBAG SERVICE. . . I ON THE RECEIPT PROVIDED IT SHOWS THAT THEY HAD PERFORMED THE AIR BAG INFLATOR SERVICE. IN EARLY FEBRUARY OF 2016 I RECEIVED ANOTHER MAILING INFORMING ME TO HAVE THIS AIRBAG SERVICE PERFORMED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT THE REPAIR ON THE AIR BAG RECALL HAD NOT BEEN PERFORMED AT THE EARLIER SERVICE APPOINTMENT. HE DID NOT KNOW WHY, AND ADMITTED IT WAS A MISTAKE. I EVENTUALLY TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE OFFERED TO REPAIR THE CAR IF IT WAS BROUGHT BACK. MY CONCERNS IN THIS CASE , IT MIGHT BE A COMMON ONE WITH THIS DEANSHIP. THEY NEVER CONTACTED ME REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I CONTACTED THEM IN FEB 16 TO FOLLOW UP ON ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE. TWO MONTHS AFTER THE SUPPOSED AIRBAG REPAIR.THEY HAVE MY CELL NUMBER AND MAILING ADDRESS AND CANNOT PROVIDE ANY PROOF THEY EVER TRIED TO CONTACT ME. I HAVE A PHONE LOG AND SHOW NO INCOMING CALLS FROM THEM IT SEEMS THAT THEY WERE ONLY CONCERNED WITH THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE WHEN HONDA WOULD NOT REIMBURSE THEM FOR THIS WARRANTY REPAIR BECAUSE THEY USED THE INCORRECT PART TO MAKE THE REPAIR! THE DEALERS ACTIONS HAVE PLACED THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY RISK. THEIR ONLY OFFER TO FIX THIS AIR BAG SERVICE MISTAKE IS TO BRING THE CAR BACK FOR SERVICE. IF THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM THAT WAS INVOLVED, I DOUBT I WOULD HAVE HEARD BACK FROM THEM. I WOULD BE DRIVING AN POTENTIALLY UNSAFE CAR, THINKING THE ISSUE HAD BEEN ADDRESSED. THIS DEALERSHIP MISREPRESENTS THE TRUTH, IS SLOPPY IN RECORD KEEPING, AND USES INCORRECT PARTS FOR A RECALL SERVICE.

I BROUGHT MY 2004 HONDA PILOT TO A AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL AND WITH 2 HOURS THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOLD THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY AIRBAG UNIT HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED FOR $800. THE VEHICLE HAD NO AIRBAG ISSUE UNTIL THE TAKADA CANNISTER WAS REPLACED, WHICH I UNDERSTAND THE NEW UNIT IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH THE 2004 AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT. BOTH THE DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA HAVE DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE UNIT AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY HONDA PILOT FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS WITH MY FAMILY WITH NO OPERATIONAL AIRBAG SYSTEM! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNSAFE!

MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I HAD AIRBAGS RECALL DONE AND THE MECHANICS STATE THE LIGHT IS NOT RELATED NOR DO THEY HAVE RECORD OF THE RECALL REPAIR BEING MADE. BECAUSE IT IS A RED LIGHT, THE SENSOR WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED @ $800 OR IT WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. JUST WANTED TO LET PEOPLE KNOW IN THE EVENT THIS HAPPENS TO MORE PEOPLE TOO. JUST STRANGE THE SERVICE TO AIRBAGS CORESPONDS WITH THIS LIGHT. WE ALSO FOUND A SCREW IN DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR.

THEY SAY I'M ON THE LIST BUT WILL NOT TELL ME WHAT # ON THE LIST I AM. ACCORDING TO THE LETTER I RECEIVED THE AIRBAG RECALL SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF WITHIN 60 DAYS. IT IS NOW OVER THE 60 DAYS. I WAS GOING TO GO TO BAY RIDGE HONDA BUT THEY CAN'T PROMISE ME HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE & DON'T OFFER LOANER CARS. THEY HAVE A SHUTTLE BUS BUT IT WILL ONLY GET ME HOME. I STILL NEED A CAR TO GO TO WORK. I LEAVE MY HOME AT 3.30P. TO WORK NIGHTS SO THE SHUTTLE THEY OFFERED WILL NOT HELP ME. I BOUGHT 2 CARS FROM PLAZA HONDA AND ANY TIME I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE SERVICE DEPT. IN EARLY APRIL, 2015 I RECEIVED NOTICE OF AIR BAG RECALL. ON APRIL 8, 2015 I CONTACTED LANCASTER HONDA RE HAVING THE PART REPLACED. I WAS TOLD WITHIN 2 WEEKS THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK. THEY DIDN'T. ABOUT MAY, 2015 I CALLED THEM BACK, THEY APOLOGIZED AND SAID THE PART HADN'T COME IN, BUT SHOULD BE IN BY THE END OF THE MONTH. ON JULY 3,2015 I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA. THEY ALSO APOLOGIZED, BUT STATED THEY HAD BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE PART, BUT THAT IT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE BY THE END OF JULY. IT IS NOW AUGUST 3RD, 2015 AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM ANYONE. IN MY AREA WE'VE BEEN HAVING UNUSUAL HUMID AND HOT WEATHER WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST DANGEROUS FOR THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT. WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE RESOLVED?

ON 15-JULY-2015 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION IN CALIFORNIA THAT IF AMERICAN HONDA OR MY DEALER HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE "WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME (60 DAYS AFTER THE DATE I FIRST CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR A REPAIR APPOINTMENT), I SHOULD THEN SUBMIT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. ON MY 2004 HONDA PILOT, THE SRS (AIRBAG) WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD MYSTERIOUSLY REMAINS ON EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN NO OTHER CHANGES TO THE VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE HAD BEEN SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITH THE VEHICLE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BEFORE THE CRASH OCCURRED. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE WHICH MOVED IT SIX INCHES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED WHILE SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL GEAR AND PARK AT THE SAME TIME IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING. THE BRAKE WERE DEPRESSED WHILE THE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE SHERIFF TO PERFORM A FORENSIC EXAMINATION ON IT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE HONDA MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO WORK WHEN THE CAR IMPACTED A VEHICLE HEAD-ON. THE AIR BAG FAILED A 2ND TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED IN THE REAR BUMPER. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THE VEHICLE WAS A SAFE VEHICLE. I HAD FOUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TALKED TO THE HONDA MECHANIC, HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT BECAUSE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO CARS THE AIR BAG COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS CONFUSED ON WHERE TO SEND THE AIR... I THINK THAT IS WRONG! THERE SHOULD BE A SIGNAL THAT WHEN CONFUSED ON WHERE TO GO, SET ALL OF THE AIRBAGS OFF. BY NOT SENDING ANY OFF, IT INDANGERED MY FAMILY... ON OUR WAY HOME, WE ROLLED THREE TIMES IN OUR HONDA PILOT. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS OPENED. ALTHOUGH WE WALKED AWAY, WE SUFFERED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES, NONE OF WHICH WERE LIFE THREATENING.
