I was driving and went through an intersection when all of a sudden the car automatically shifted into Neutral and lights started flashing and stalled. The engine ceased up. I checked to see if I had oil. I did. Prior to this event on multiple occasions while driving on the HWY and trying to accelerate the engine had problems getting into gear. This vehicle has made me feel unsafe multiple times while driving and shifting out of gear and now just stalling while driving. Honda has a huge problem with the engines.
warning engine light came on. Emission control system light came on too. Honda Pilot 2016 Milage 70,662. Vehicle operating normally. Had car parts store use OBD electronic scanner and it revealed a code P0328: "Knock Sensor voltage High". Code was deleted after scan. I was told by tech at car parts store that the sensor was detecting odd electronic signals and sent info to the cars computer, which intern made the computer to display the warning lights on the dash panel. Warning lights were then off, and then a day later, the engine warning lights came on again. There are no physical or audible signs that any mechanical errors are happening, The car/engine is operating as normal. next day; made appt with Honda dealership to check system with their equipment and the warning lights did not come on , prior to the trip to the dealership. Dealership scan (Dec 23, 2025) confirms a faulty Knock Sensor w/code P0328. My internet search of this code reading, reveals possible engine damage, improper fuel distribution and possible engine failure when driving. This issue has been reported before, many times, per my internet search...why no recall? Dealership wants $1,234 to replace Knock sensor bank 1& 2. My original request to the dealership was to check my vehicle to see if it had any performance problems as noted in Honda Service Bulletin 20-100 Nov 24, 2020 problems, but their search revealed the P0328 code . I was charged $100 just for this diagnostic system search.
The fuel pump issue came up . I was in the middle of the intersection , and the car seized and broke down . The fuel pump light came on .
Honda is aware of thousands of 9 speed transmission failures. but worst of all they tell you that you failed to change trans fluid as scheduled, but there is no schedule printed in their owner's manual, nor in their vehicle service maintenance manual. the service manual only speaks to the quality of fluid required, and that it not be mixed with other brands of trans fluids. it then goes on to say "HAVE A DEALER CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL AND REPLACE IF NEEDED." I have owned cars with sealed trans that required no maintenance, which is not the case with the Honda's 9speed trans. The Honda 9 speed is a sealed unit. I am currently face with an estimated bill of $10,600 to replace my failed trans. There is a reaccuring problem with the 9 speed, that Honda should pay for. I am requesting an investigation, and a reimburstment of my total cost. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
THEY SAID I HAD A RECALL KNOW THEY SAY NO WHAT IS GOING AND DASH PENAL
Fuel pump- car sputters when accelerating. The car is available for inspection Car does not accelerate efficiently when merging onto highway The car has not been inspected properly There have been no warning lights.
Car staring jerking and engine seized up while i was driving.
The fuel injection system routinely fails or misfires. Not only does this cause an issue with said system but it also triggers a host of other dashboard alerts. The alerts display all wheel drive problem, emission system problem, power steering problem, hill start problem, vehicle stability assist problem. This is a safety issue because the amount of alerts especially unrelated alerts is obfuscating any actual problems and making it difficult to diagnose the real issue. Investigation shows many other drivers having the same issues with this model only going away when the fuel injection system is replaced. It's also safety issue because if the fuel injection is failing then the car may shut off at a danger to the driver and the public. Given that it is known and chronic it should be a recall
Car electric system went down while driving and stopped in middle of the road. It happened sometimes before, usually when the car stops at the red light. All the warning light was turn on when that happen and it took a lot of try to restart the car. This time the car cannot turn on so I have to tow it to my mechanic. The mechanic checked everything including the alternator, battery, starter and told me that the problem is actually in the fuel pumps. I got the fuel pumps replaced and have not had the same issue since then. The mechanic said several Honda model had that issue. I contacted Honda as I see there is a recall on the same year model but Honda told me the VIN number isn't on their list, but I think the recall should cover my vehicle since the problem description and year model is matching.
All lights on the dash board lights up and the car stalls with no chance to pull over
Failure causing an engine cylinder misfire, flooding and possibly prevent the engine from running.
ECM Failure with fuel rail/system pressure code. Safety issue due to no prior issue and all of a sudden engine stalling in the middle of a busy intersection and taking 10 mins to get started and shift gears to get out of the way of oncoming traffic with all dashboard lights illuminated to include check engine light, trailer stability assist problem light, hill assist problem light, LKAS light, and ACC light.
Gas gauge doesn't read correctly and estimated gas mileage continues to reduces with each fill up by 5 to 30 mileage for the total miles on one tank.
Fuel pumps has gone bad twice, transmission slips gear makes clunking noise
Vehicle's motor stopped running in traffic
FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN SMELLING FUEL IN THE CABIN WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ALSO WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS TOPPED OFF, WE SMELL FUEL WHEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR 1 TO 2 DAYS AFTERWARDS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENT SHOP WHO ADVISED THEY SEE SIGNS OF SMALL FUEL RUN-OFF FROM TOP SIDE OF TANK. THEY PERFORMED A SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST AND THE EVAPORATIVE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK FAILED THE PRESSURE TEST. THE VEHICLE IS OFFICIALLY NOT PART OF RECALL LISTED BY HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 16-051 OR 17-021. THE REPLACEMENT TANK PART NO. 17044-TG7-A00 OR 17044-TG7-A01 IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM ANY HONDA OEM DEALER DUE TO BACKORDER WITHOUT ANY DATES. WE WERE ADVISED TO ENSURE VEHICLE IS PARKED OUTSIDE OF GARAGE FOR FUME AND FIRE SAFETY. CALLED Honda Automobile Customer Service Recall Line, THEY ONLY CAN ESCALATE AS A GOODWILL REQUEST FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
My Transmission went out on my 2016 Honda Pilot I bought it on 8/25/24 with 68,000 miles on it, six months later I have 81,000 miles on it and I’ve been quoted $9222 to install a rebuilt transmission at the dealership. 3 mechanics & transmission specialist do NOT even work or offer to replace transmissions on this model of honda pilot due to its known issues in the 6 cylinder V6 3.5 L. My car was in excellent condition, low miles, always well maintained. 2/21 It started rough/delayed shifting, during gear changes, hesitation when accelerating, unusual noise like quiet whining, on 2/22 the check engine & emissions & transmissions system lights came on I immediately took it to the Honda dealership/service on 2/22/25 I dropped it off and left it after hours (weekend Mon. 2/23 they diagnostic performed $200 transmission fluid flush and software update $500 it did not fix a thing. They evaluated & diagnosed on 2/24/25 Error codes stored P0776 & P0777. Recommending a rebuilt transmission for $9222. I got second and third opinions from experienced, highly recommended mechanics & transmission specialists who won’t even touch the 2016 honda pilot because it is considered problematic model/year with frequent reports of glitches & complex issues which can be make the job time consuming & potentially costly for the mechanic due to the need for speciality parts & diagnostics. Ive contacted American Honda & service/dealership inquiring “goodwill” program with no resolution. I have personally owned a 2005 pilot, 2011 pilot, 2007 odyssey, my parents & sister both currently own two Honda pilots & a Honda Ridgeline to say we’re loyal Honda customers is an understatement. I regret buying this 2016 Honda Pilot 6 cylinder V6 3.5 L I believe honda made a huge mistake and recalls must be issued. Show some integrity and take accountability this is unacceptable. If consumers & mechanics want nothing to do with it you should probably follow the evidence. From a very disappointed customer.
High pressure and low pressure fuel pumps were defective.
Vehicle started jerking bad and all the lights on the dash started rotating through the error messages. Took care to shop and confirmed fuel pump was bad. There is a recall on 2016 Honda Pilot Fuel Pumps but not for this particular model.
Car started surging while driving in rush hour traffic was very scary and almost caused me to be rear ended at a high speed. It cost 3200.to repair and when I spoke to the dealer they said they were under recall for all models 2017-2024 and it has been an ongoing issue since 2014 I think they should pay to fix it not just let us eat it on the repair because the vehicle is older not that old and it’s a safety issue
We have always taken great care of our Pilot, regular oil changes, tire rotations, checking the fluid levels. Just before we went on vacation, our Pilot's check engine light came on and started blinking under normal driving conditions. When we hooked up the code reader, it was for a misfire in the second cylinder. Having changed the spark plugs about 30-40k before this incident, we tested the plugs and assumed it was the coil. We changed the coil. After returning from vacation, we drove the car minimally yet after about 40-50 miles, the code returned with knocking sound. We had the car towed to our residence...to find the same code. We inspected the plug and coil, no issues were present and the code was cleared. The next day, the code came back on and the engine was knocking very loud and had definite performance issues. I checked the Honda recall page and our car had no open recalls. I noticed that other Pilots with the V6 engine in our model year range were included an investigation by the NHTSA. Our mechanic drove our pilot for 30 feet and immediately called me to tell me that he would not suggest even spending money on diagnosing the problem....as he believes the engine is a total loss. It seems unfair that Honda would not address this issue as it seems a wide spread problem after a simple google search.
I was driving down the highway when I started to hear a knocking sound at certain RPM. No check engine light and I was unable to safely pull over. As I continued driving looking for a safe place to park the vehicle, within a few minutes the noise in the engine got worse and then suddenly the vehicle completely lost power and would only drive in limp mode. Luckily I was able to pull off to an offramp and get the vehicle into a gas station parking lot. I called for a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. At the dealership they inspected the vehicle and found that it was damaged similar to the Safety recall related to NHTSA Action Number: RQ24013 and advised me to have it towed Calgary Honda. I called the Honda Dealership and they informed me that it did not qualify for the recall at the time but the issue sounded familiar. I had them and the current dealership quote me the pricing and decided that I would proceed with the repair from Honda directly. It took awhile to get a replacement engine in and I had to wait several weeks but I was finally able to have it replaced at Calgary Honda in November of 2024. It cost me $10,000 to replace the engine as well as have the work done to repair the alignment after the power failure and replace the battery due to the vehicle sitting for weeks in the cold. I believe my vehicle is part of the same issues as: NHTSA Action Number: RQ24013 and wanted to submit my report to hopefully get reimbursed by Honda for the engine and all other costs associated with the Recall
Fuel pump inside the fuel tank failed while driving and caused my engine to stall and almost causing an accident in the highway. Several 2016 Pilots had a recall but my specific VIN does not show in the recall even though I had an issue with the Fuel Pump in 2023.
A few years ago I was told my fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Last month, I was told that my suspension needed to be replaced and it wore out. Shortly after that my struts were leaking and making noise. I do not drive my car over rough terrain, just regular street driving and I get my vehicle maintained regularly.
My vehicles engine will stop running sometimes while the car is at a complete stop and sometimes while it's in motion. Sometimes the vehicle restarts immediately and sometimes it struggles to restart. The problem happens sporadically sometimes going weeks between occurrences. This has caused me to be stalled in busy traffic and has also caused more dangerous situations where the vehicle loses power while in motion. I have taken the vehicle to a dealer and a local repair shop and neither were able to reproduce or confirm the problem. They each performed what they thought could be helpful maintenance procedures but these did not seem to work. Other than the local repair shop and the dealer nobody else has inspected the vehicle.
Car keeps hesitating to accelerate, stalled a few times & is burning through gas extremely quickly. Error code "engine emissions problem" came up, believe this is part of the recall
Driving our well-maintained 2016 Honda Pilot with 133K with cruise control set at 65 on [XXX] in Kingman, AZ in October 2024, when the "check engine" light came on. I pulled off as soon as I could on the exit ramp 1.5 miles later. By that time, the engine was ticking and clicking loudly and all of the various system errors were flashing on the dash. The engine then started vibrating and sounded like a box of marbles being shaken violently. At that point, the engine had 10% of less of the normal acceleration. The local shop in Kingman, that I managed to limp to, said the engine had blown. I had it towed to the Honda dealer in Kingman (Anderson Honda) and they confirmed that a new or rebuilt engine and quoted me approximately $19K or $13.5K, respectively. They made no mention of the existing recall for three weeks of Pilot production, but I found that on my own, along with many frustrated Pilot owners. I'm now weighing whether I should have the work done by the Honda dealer in Kingman, whether I should have the Pilot towed to Phoenix, Arizona, where I live and there are more repair options, or whether I should wait and see whether the NHTSA forces Honda to expand the existing recall. Vehicle has strong fuel smell after driving. And took to mechanic and fuel is leaking out
I was driving on the interstate last March of 2024. I have a Honda Pilot 2016. Im going 70 miles an hour or so and my engine just stalls and quits. So many alerts come up on my vehicle as well. Check engine lightTrailer Stability Assist Problem, Power Steering System EPS Problem, Trailer Stability Assist Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, and others. I make it to the off ramp coasting this is a huge problem because I could have killed someone or someone could have killed me or provided Serious injury. I get it towed and I called the dealership and no recalls. I take it to my Mechanic and discover it was reading Code (P0087) The fuel pump not working at all. I had to replace it to drive the car. I am so livid as I see on the Honda Service Bulletin of a Safety Recall for 2016-2021 Pilot Fuel Pump Motor. This revision supersedes the previous recall of the Fuel Pump Motor from July 19th, 2024. I can see why their wasn't a recall when I checked. Cars from those years are now having this problem and should not be subject to certain VIN# on cars. I called Honda today 10-18-24 and was told this isn't covered.because my VIN wasn't in covered cars. How the heck does a VIN number cover or not cover you. Those years are what matter and my safety was at risk and could have proven fatal. Not warning was given it just happened as I going down the interstate 121 in Texas.Lucily I did not go over a high bridge which was another way to get home and one of the most dangerous interstates in the area I-25E. I could have flipped over the bridge and killed someone else going a descent speed. Im usually really careful on super high bridges cause they are scary. Getting stalled on that bridge is deadly. I'm really Upset over this and gave up my awesome Toyota 4Runner for a Honda Pilot and now this happens. I also stalled 3 to 4 other times after I turned on my hazards and restarted the car. it was 7pm and dark so it was quite scary my vehicle out of nowhere just quit on me.
On 9-4-2024 my 2016 Honda Pilot was being driven on a city street when the engine stopped. The vehicle re-started and was driven to my residence. Messages had appeared on the dashboard. I scheduled an appointment with Courtesy Honda for the next day. On 9-5-2024 the vehicle started and I proceeded to drive it the 6 miles to Courtesy Honda. About halfway there the engine died. Multiple messages appeared on the dashboard. My wife had been following me in her car when the Pilot died. She helped me by steering the Pilot as I pushed it off the busy street manually to a side road. It was a hazardous situation. The Pilot would not start . I called a towing service to tow it to the dealership. At Courtesy Honda a service technician examined the vehicle and diagnosed the problem as “ high pressure fuel pump failure and low pressure fuel pump failure.” He recommended replacement. I approved the repair. It was completed for a total of $1754.46. I researched Recalls Of Honda Pilots For Fuel Pump Failure. I found there was a massive recall of thousands of Honda Pilots from 2016 and beyond. Letters were sent from Honda to owners authorizing replacement of fuel pumps. My VIN number was not included in the recall. It should have been.
The vehicle will delay driving with auto turn off enabled almost causing collisions. Then vehicle delays switching gears. Not daily The vehicle smells like gasoline occasionally after a fill up. O2 censor replaced twice. Electrical system issue
In 2021, my 2016 Honda Pilot had routinely had restart issues from when going idle at stop. In some situations, it simply would not start again and had to be jumped off. I ended up getting the battery replaced multiple times, but on [XXX] I went to my vehicle to start up and it was dead yet again. I then hooked up a jumper and the vehicle instantly started smoking from under the motor. Within 20 seconds, fire had started under the hood and it caused extreme damage to my home. The car was also destroyed. There seemed to be some sort of electrical system issue. I was able to get my 1 year old daughter safely away and nobody was hurt. However, this caused extreme losses. Car shuts off when idle or when ac is used Car vibrations Car not trying to start Engine light on and off
I have an active recall on my honda, the fuel pump. I have had symptoms of this problem over the past year even prior to the recall. Bradenton Honda is refusing to do the recall now, stating my car hasn't stalled and there is no light on. They are waiting until FALL to do the recall but there is a long list. They said they can only do recalls on cars that stall. My car has intermittent losses of power when accelerating. I have issues where all the lights on the dash would just turn on and then it disappeared. Now the alternator is dead and a faulty fuel pump can cause this. I don't want to pay twice for a faulty alternator if Honda won't honor the recall. Honda is stating the recall is not really needed and they feel Honda is making customers nervous. I would like you to contact Bradenton honda and have them honor the recall now.
This is a 9 year old vehicle that should not be stalling and shutting down. I had to be towed twice and have the fuel pumps replaced. Honda feels like they are not responsible. The fuel pump on the 2016 Honda pilot is no good. I should not have to replace the fuel pumps in a 9 year old car. Honda should reimburse myself and several others. Please make this a recall or a warranty extension. I almost crashed and rear ended because the vehicle stop working on the highway. Please help all of us 2016 Honda Pilot owners.
The car just stopped while being driven in the freeway around December 2022. It was towed to the dealership and they said that the engine "seized." We wrote a letter to Honda and they said that it was our fault (car has very little miles- it's a family car). The engine light was never resolved even after engine was replaced. Honda then came out with a recall for 2016 Honda Pilot for engine seizing but they said my VIN did not qualify although this was the exact same issue. I tried reaching out with them to no avail. I am afraid to transport my children in this vehicle and I have already spend over 10k fixing it. It also feels unethical to sell the vehicle knowing it's defective. If possible, please look into the VIN's that are part of the recall since I am afraid there are a lot more cars driving in the freeway from the manufacturer that has the same issue which pose a safety concern to the passengers and the cars around it.
Had a indicator light for "Emission System" come on. Used fuel injector cleaner on next fill up and the light went out. Light came on again a few weeks later. Ran another bottle of injector cleaner and once again the light went out. A couple of months later the light can back on and the car gave an audible warning to pull over and shut off the engine and to make sure we were not near an ignition source. After a short time with the car off it was restarted. The "Emission System" light stayed on but the car drove ok. We took the car to the dealer. They checked everything and said that the issue was the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. They told us the parts are on a "National backorder" and they have no idea when they will become available. The car is undrivable and remains at the dealership.
My engine broke and the 2016 Honda Pilot awd engine locked up and the dealership is saying it’s the same issue as the 2016-2019 recall. Also I own a 2008 Honda element awd windshield cracked. The recall for every Honda Element year except 2008. 2003-2007, 2009-2011. That doesn’t make since either. Since 2021 the vehicle has stalled everywhere we go and has a gas/electrical burn fume. The vehicle had stalled in the middle of the highway and didn't allow us to shift it into any gears while flashing all dashboard lights. The vehicle was towed to Legend driven Honda where they couldn't find any issues and said they just reset the transmission code. For our peace of mind, we thought it would be best to have the full work up on the transmission since the dealership seemed incompetent with our vehicle's malfunction. The vehicle continued to stall and even had trouble starting up at times with the continued gas fumes. Well, it wasn't long before the issue returned and we were back to where we started, along with our A/C unit failing on us. We left the vehicle idle in the driveway for a bit as it was a safety concern for our families' wellbeing. We later received a recall notice on the auto-idle stop mechanism which we figured must have been the issue all along. We took it back to the dealership where they did their full inspection and came up with our transmission needing its regular full work-up which we had proclaimed that we already had done in the earlier months. After the alleged recall fix, the problem continued. We took the vehicle back and were told it was our battery and recommended our timing belt be replaced otherwise it would cause major issues down the road(it was concerning to us as these issues were never brought up the multiple times we had brought it in for the initial issues). Surely, we had it all fixed and replaced for the safety of our families well being having had our vehicle stall numerous times on the road which has now caused our children to be frightened of driving anywhere. Well on return home from the dealership, the vehicle did not stall, 2 hours later went to turn it on, it did not want to start and made a loud knocking noise. Currently towed to a different dealership
While driving my car started doing a jerking motion as if it wanted to stall. Then all the warning lights the car could possibly have started flashing. All wheel drives engine warning came on as well as emissions systems problem warning light. I was able to park it for the night and made an appt to have it checked but by morning the warning lights were gone. A week later the emissions systems problem warning came back on but went away a fee days later before I could get it to the shop. This problem has happened twice already and I have had to have my fuel pump replaced, the sensor and the fuel injector. At this time my car has trouble starting as if not enough fuel is being injected and the transmission sounds not right.
On December 21, 2023, at approximately 2:25pm, while driving approximately 63 mph on the freeway, my 2016 Honda Pilot suddenly stopped accelerating and I was unable to accelerate the vehicle. During this time, I received several dashboard warning notifications. These notifications stated the following: -Blind Spot Info System Problem. -Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual. -Transmission Problem. Apply Parking Brake When Parked. -All Wheel Drive System Problem. -Emission Systems Problem. I pulled over to the shoulder and parked my vehicle. While parked, I was still unable to rev the engine, and the warning indicators continued to flash on my dashboard. I turned off the vehicle. After a few minutes, I turned on the vehicle. At this this time, I was able to rev the engine by pressing on the gas pedal. All of the indicator warnings disappeared with the exception of the Emission Systems Problem. I drove home and parked the vehicle. For the remainder of the day, the vehicle was not used. On the following day, I turned on the vehicle and noted that there were no dashboard warnings. Additionally, I was able to rev the engine by pressing on the gas pedal. For the next 14 days, the vehicle operated normally with no issues. (PS. I attempted to upload the photos of the warning indicators but your NHTSA application is not working properly.)
All warning lights came on Vehicle stability assist (VSA) Problem, Hill Street Assist Problem, Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Emissions System Problem. Car was stalling and sometimes not starting at all. Took it in to the Honda dealer in mid November 2023 and they said it was reporting low fuel pressure but that it was probably low fuel in the tank that caused the issue and not to worry about it since the warning lights were off. After a month, the car stalled while diriving in the middle of the highway and all warning lights came on again. Had trouble starting car again but I was able to drive it my local mechanic which told me I had to replace both fuel pumps since they were the cause of my issues. I ended up getting both pumps replaced at a cost of $2,250.00. After reading about the Honda recall last week for 2017-2020 fuel pumps exhibiting the same symptoms, I dont think it's coincidence that my 2016 Pilot model is also having the same problem.
Components that failed: engine blew up on a Freeway; car experienced oil leaks; air conditioner stopped working; electrical problems- windows and sunroof suddenly open on their own. Facts: In Feb. 2019, I bought a certified preowned 2016 Honda Pilot with 40K miles. I drove it for less than a year before COVID-19 began and I started working from home. Shortly after I bought the car, it started leaking engine oil, which Honda later repaired. In summer 2021, the air conditioner system stopped working. On June 4, 2023, I was driving the vehicle on the 57 Freeway, Northbound, when my engine suddenly blew up and failed in the middle of the Freeway. The sudden engine failure put me and others at risk of serious injury. Since purchasing my car, I had my car regularly serviced by a Honda dealership. After inspecting my car, the Honda dealership said they did not know what caused the engine to blow up. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms before the engine failure.
There was a recall on the fuel injectors system and now this problem is causing the computer system to send false codes to the car and then the warning “fuel emissions problem signs turns on showing false code problems and then they go off and back on” In April I had fuel injections done and now in December I got the emissions system problem signal and was told at a honda service location that it was faulty Catalina converter problem but the emissions system problem signal tuned off on its own a day later, mean while the honda service place told me it would cost me $2287 to correct a problem that didn’t need to get repaired it’s this faulty emissions system computer system that needs to be updated on all these vehicles with this emission system problem. If they up date the program that they use on the emissions system we will not have to pay for false readings codes that are being generated because of this false reading by the emissions system soft ware.
At 7:45AM EST on 11/30/2023 while stopped in heaving Pittsburgh traffic the auto stop start feature engaged. Once engaged everything in the car shut down. I received a notification on my dashboard that said to put the car in park and press start. It took me 3 times pressing the start button for the car to start. I later took it to get the battery checked and it showed the battery was good. This was a hazardous situation given the traffic conditions during rush hour.
After driving without incident, Pilot would not start 20 minutes after parking. Jumped and replaced battery. After replacing battery, car lost power while moving. Dash lights include hill start assist, traction control, AWD system, etc. Car goes into "limp mode", throwing code P0087 (loss of pressure to the rail). Visited Planet Honda dealer and was told to replace fuel pressure sensor, fuel rail and injectors. Replaced all, car still in limp mode. Back to dealer, told to replace low pressure fuel pump. Replaced, still in limp mode. Phone call to dealer told us to replace high pressure pump. Car comes out of limp mode. Continues to stall unexpectedly while in motion. Will not restart for several hours. Engine will turn over but will not ignite. When it does start it is a rough start, growling and sputtering. Stalls when driving or idling. Before stalling throws all original codes and all dash lights come on. Warranty extension on fuel system does not include P0087 code. After a second and third opinion we were told car is throwing multiple ECM/Wiring/voltage drop loss codes. Will run and drive as normal until it stalls. Will not restart after parking, engine cranks and sputters. CAN NOT SAFELY OR RELIABLY drive, especially with our kids in the car! Newest Honda recall on engine, causing stalling issues, does not cover this VIN. Just dropped off at a different dealer, hoping for solution.
I have a very loud knocking noise in the engine of 2016 Honda Pilot. The dealership told me it was a bad rod bearing. The same day the dealership told me there was going to be a recall on my vehicle for this exact problem. They are now telling me my VIN number is not covered in the recall for this exact problem. I find it hard to believe this problem occurred on my vehicle and is not related to recall. Thanks
Unable to open my gas cap door either by pushing the gas opener button by driver side door or manually from the latch located in the trunk. I was running low on gas and am unable to refill the gas. Others offered to help by forcing the gas door open but said they would definitely damage the car. Gas attended looked at it and was unable to open gas door to refill gas tank. Without gas, my car is unable to turn on and drive. My kids were in the car with me and we were stranded. My car did not show any signs of warnings for this issue.
1. The camshaft on the engine, took to a mechanic and Honda dealership, they are both saying its the camshaft. 2. Cannot drive the vehicle because every time I get up to about 20 - 30 mph the shuts off without warning while driving, not even coasting to a stop enough to pull over to a shoulder of a highway, leaving me and my 3 kids stranded in the middle of busy roads/highways. 3. yes, Honda issued a "technical service bulletin" but refuses to fix the issue without causing unnecessary hardship to owners who are affected. 4. The manufacture Honda Co., is aware the Camshaft was "not machined according to spec" based on their own bulletin. 5. No warnings as far as I can tell, it just started happening more and more frequently until I can hardly drive it anywhere without it breaking down. Once it breaks down a bunch of unrelated warning lights come on such as, "Emission system problem, power steering problem, Vehicle stability /assist problem, Hill Start problem, Trailer Stability Assist problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Keyless start problem, along with the check engine light.
vehicle died/lost power on interstate traveling near 75mph in heavy traffic. warning lights on dash came on. trying to maneuver through traffic to get to the side of the road was very dangerous. car taken to dealership and had a P0716 CODE stored in the computer. was told that there was a TSB for the issue but it was no longer in effect. they said it needed a TCM update. this is not an TSB issue but is a safety issue that should be addressed with a recall.
at 45.000 miles all of my fuel injectors was replaced due to emission system problem appear on my dash board for free. At 97,000 miles we were on vacation in Houston TX, when the same emission system problem pop up on my dash board. I went to Honda dealership for engine diagnosis-"faulty fuel injectors". Sad thing the replacement fuel injectors are back ordered. So we left the vehicle behind in Houston and we went home with a rental car. 2 weeks after Honda informed me the parts have arrived. The vehicle was brought to the dealership and got fixed. we had it transported back here in Chicago. Back here same emission system problem came up. now they reprogram the vehicle computer. after a day they released the vehicle same error came up. now the Honda dealership says that the catalytic converter should be replaced. Parts and labor totals to $3,200.00. That is so upsetting considering the age of the vehicle and mileage. Suppose to get to 200,000 miles. Major defect on the 2016 Honda pilot that needs to be address by Honda of America and investigated by NHTSA.
Our Honda Pilot 2016 starting experiencing fuel surging issues in July 2018 and was taken to our nearest Honda Dealership on 7/03/18 in The Dalles, Oregon. Honda stated it was a code C1841-27 which was repaired with no mention of fuel injector extended warranty issues, document included. On September 23, 2023 my car stopped functioning on a busy road way and was brought into our local mechanic. The mechanic determined that the fuel pump failed due to Honda code P0087 (fuel rail pressure too low) and was repaired. Shortly after while driving the car check engine light came on and the car had a noticeable burning smell. The car was towed to our mechanic which in turn told us to have it towed to the Honda Dealership for misfiring counter associating with failing fuel injectors TSB #18-025 code. My vehicle was towed to the closest Honda Dealership and repaired under the extended warranty recall 6E6. The fuel injectors were replaced by Honda on April 10, 2023 under above warranty recall. All documents and extended warranty paperwork was submitted to Honda, however, Honda is stating that they will not cover the faulty fuel pump and cost of towing the vehicle when the fuel injectors failed.
My car got recall from Honda on: P0420 (rear bank catalyst system efficiency below threshold [bank 1]) P0430 (front bank catalyst system efficiency below threshold [bank 2]) P0300-P0306 (misfire) P219A (air-fuel ratio variation of cylinder [bank 1, rear bank]) P219B (air-fuel ratio variation of cylinder [bank 2, front bank]) but they fixed for P219A, and P219B only, now it still got issue on P0420 ( Catalyc conventer issue)
idle-stop feature. When the idle-stop feature activates as the vehicle is stopped at a traffic signal, the vehicle fails to restart when the brake is released and accelerator pedal pressed. I turn on the emergency flashers. The vehicle usually restarts within 3 minutes. I am afraid I will be rear-ended at high speed as I am stopped at a green traffic signal. This also causes others drivers to swerve around my vehicle causing unnecesary danger. This happens weekly.
The instrument panel is flashing all alerts when the car is off. I am able to drive the car. It is unknown which component has malfunctioned. Several Honda owners on Google say to check the fuel injectors. I am hoping you all can assist me with that. My safety was put at risk as the alarm goes off randomly when the car is off. It is bothersome at my workplace. I am afraid to drive the vehicle. One of the alerts that flashes is the Antilock Brake System. I am afraid the brakes will go out during driving. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. I hope to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. All warning lamps and messages were blinking after the car was turned off. There were no signs of issues prior to turning the car off. Since the first initial flashing of alerts, the alerts now stay on during driving however not all lights are flashing. Could it simply need a software update? I do feel this needs investigating and a recall issued.
The car consistently stalls out when we stop and the auto idle begins. When we remove foot from break the car doesn’t restart and takes a few minutes of turning it on/off before vehicle resumes functioning. Honda says nothing is wrong but it has been an issue since purchase. It is more likely to occur when ac is running. I have to manually turn off auto idle every time I turn on vehicle to prevent stalling.
Since buying my 2016 Honda Pilot Elite in June of 2021 I have had innumerable instances of my vehicle's auto stop start feature failing to START after being engaged. I believe the first instance was in Sept 2021 (after the lemon law time frame passed for my state). When my vehicle is stopped, I try to hit the gas and the vehicle does not go. At this same time an error happens on the screen that says "shift car to P". The first few times this has happened I tried to shift to P and that did not help. I figured out that it is best (i.e. quickest, I am not sure it is the best for the vehicle) to just turn the car off. Wait a few seconds, and then turn the car back on and put it back into drive and go. Keep in mind that I have cars peeling by me, screaming at me, honking, yelling, etc. all with my 6/7yo daughter in the vehicle. I am often stuck in an intersection going left. Additionally, sometimes but not always, the radio and heat/ac turn off when this happens. This has occurred far more times than I can count but a few examples in bumper to bumper city traffic, when waiting to make a left hand turn in intersections, while taking turns at a stop sign both flat and uphill (which is terrifying), just while being stopped at red lights and having the light turn green, when taking turns to enter a rotary, when trying to go at a yield sign, etc. There is no warning light or lamp. The warning lights/sounds occur while/after its already happened. Sometimes the radio turns off and the heat/ac. I have had the vehicle repeatedly serviced by the dealer I purchased it from. They said they cannot replicate the issue. They have asked me to take video of it which is infuriating and UNSAFE as I am in the vehicle with a child in traffic, sometimes in the middle of an intersection, trying not to get T-boned. We have changed the battery. The dealer has cleaned carbon build up out of something. They continually say it is not an issue and cannot be replicated.
There is an emissions warning system that pops. Upon diagnosis, it is determined that the fuel injectors need replacement (all 6 of them) because the parts were manufactured with contaminants in them. There was no recall and due to the nature of the incident, it is NOT covered by an warranties once you pass a certain mileage (80,000, I believe). Unfortunately, this issue/alarm did not pop until after I had passed that mileage point and because it falls under an emissions system problem, not a drivetrain, I have to pay out of pocket. If this problem stems from a manufacturing issue, it should be a safety recall.
Emission system problem light - is VERY COMMON 2016-2018 Honda Pilot. Why is there NO recall/permanent fix for this? This is a Honda Defect in manufacturing/workmanship. Honda should resolve!
On multiple occasions, but the latest being 10/19/2022, my car will not restart after the auto idle start/stop feature malfunctioned while at a stoplight this afternoon. The battery is not old, and we recently had it checked because it has been doing this a lot lately. It checked out fine when tested. Something is majorly wrong with the electrical parts when this happens. Lights flash, my hazards didn’t even work today, which was very scary and not safe. The only door that would open was my driver side door. This is a huge safety concern and I am now looking for a new car. This has happened at least 20-30 times, but today was the worst. It took awhile to get it jumped off. In the middle of traffic, with my hazard lights not working. Honda really needs to fix this. We took it to the dealership once about this issue and they said nothing was wrong. Please investigate this issue before it causes injury.
With increasing frequency of occurrence, the car will not start after the auto stop/start mechanism has been invoked. For example, when stopped at a red light, the engine will turn off as the car is not moving. However, once the light turns to green and the brake is depressed, the car will not start and/or will start and then the engine will cut-out. To start the engine, the car needs to be fully turned off, gear put into Park and then restarted. There appears to be something at fault with the automatic stop-start mechanism and/software. My car is a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring with less than 28K miles.
The auto start/stop feature of the vehicule has stopped working on several occassions. We would be coming off the highway and or off a red light and the car will stall of the auto start/stop function is on. This has happened a few times in a very busy intersection or street.
The engine begins to idle rough, after a few days of driving a lot of cluster lights come on starting with check engine light, VSA as well as others. Disconnecting battery works to clear the the codes, engine will appear to idle ok but after a week of driving it will start idling rough again, then the cluster lights will light up as before. I believe this is due to Service Bulletin 20-100 or Service Bulletin A20-100 which states that issues with the fuel injectors were found relating to quality control. The TSB listed above states that if your vehicle is affected by these symptoms your warranty will be extended to 10 years of manufacture date or 150,000 miles. Our Pilot currently has under 80,000 miles on the odometer.
While stopped at a red light, with the auto start enabled, the car would not turn back on and placed the car in “neutral”. The dash info message prompted me to put the car in “park”. I did. It then instructed me to depress the brake and hit the “start” button to turn the car on. It did not after I tried a few times. Finally to get it started I pushed the “start” button with the key fob. It then turned on and allowed me to put it in “drive”.
The fuel tank leaks when it become near full which could put me and others at risk of fire. The vehicle hasn't been inspected and I notice this safety defect when I refill the gas tank
When idling at a stop light, the auto shut off feature engaged and turned off the engine. When I engaged the gas to start moving again, the engine would not restart. I applied to brake, put the car into park and then tried to manually restart the car using the start button on the dash. The car engine would not start. The auxiliary power to the accessories would not go off when I pushed the stop/start button on the dash, but the engine would not restart either. I attempted to restart the car several times. It did not attempt to turn the engine over, but did literally nothing. I paused and waited for a minute and then attempted to restart the car again with the stop/start button and the car engine finally turned on. The exact same sequence of events has happened and two separate occasions some weeks apart. This incident put my and my passengers’ safety at risk by stranding me at very busy intersections with no way to move the vehicle out of the road. The auto-shutoff feature has engaged while in stop and go traffic on the freeway and if this had happened then, the results could be catastrophic. I now always manually turn off this feature due to fear of this happening again and would disengage it entirely if possible, but was informed by the dealer that was not possible. No one has inspected the vehicle as the problem is not reproducible on demand, but I am willing for any necessary inspections to occur.
Unknown. Background: Driving vehicle and engine warning came on. Looked up code and it was due to injector failure. Dealership changed injectors and reprogrammed. Now vehicle gets nowhere the gas mileage and the start/stop has stopped. That doesn't bother me as bad due to it shut off at light one day and would not start back for about a min. Then started and went it's way.
While at a stop light, with the engine "Auto Start/Stop" switch engaged, I released my foot from the brake, and the car died. I was totally confused as to what occurred. After a minute or two I was able to restart the car. I was very concerned about being re-ended as when the light changed to green is when the car died. I had no advance warning of a problem, and it just died unexpectedly as I released my foot from the break. No lights on the dash either. I notified my dealer, who had never heard of this happening, and said when I can, please bring it in. In as much as the incident occurred in May 2022, and hadn't happened since, I did not take my car into the dealer. I can take my car in at any time to be examined.
The problem has happened at-least 5 times won’t restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or intersection with the stop-start feature in use.Brought to Honda dealership and they stated the do not see a problem. This is a safety problem that needs to be addressed. It stopped completely when i was in traffic also almost caused an accident.
Every single time I get in my car to drive. I experience julting when I am speeding up but it mostly happens in between 30mph and 50mph. Sometimes in between 70mph and 80mph as well. It has been going on for a year and a half and no one can figure out what it is. There needs to be a recall because it is dangerous for myself and other drivers. To the point where I am going to sell this car and get a different make
Driving the vehicle started to quickly lose power for about 15 seconds and it stalled while at speed on an interstate. Luckily I was in the right lane and was able to pull out of traffic onto the shoulder. The car had all the lights flash on the dashboard. The check engine, the hill assist, the oil, power steering, etc...i mean all the lights. I turned the car off through its power button and waiting about a meeting and attempted to restart the vehicle. It would not restart. I repeated this action. After two more failed attempts i went and opened the hood to check to see if there was a visible problems or potential a lose sensor connection. The engine looked ok. The main sensors were connected. I again tried to restart the car. The car started and drove about half a mile before losing power again. I repeated all of the above. Again. After about 45 mins the vehicle started even though nothing had actually changed. I didn't do anything. I took the car with the check engine light still on to autozone where they plugged the computer in to tell me my fuel pump wasn't working. Code P0087 registered. The next day the computer cleared itself and has been running. My mechanic said Honda had released a TSB pertaining to the fuel pump with new lines. Unfortunately there is a nation wide shortage of those parts so my car cannot be fixed. I feel unsafe. I dont know if the car will work or not. Its terrifying
I received a letter in the mail from Honda North America in early 2022 stating that my vehicle/vin was covered under an extended warranty on emissions systems problems. HONDA TSB 20-100. I took my car in to the local dealer, dealer performed a software update, 2 days after software update, all warning lights turn on in dash and do not go away. Check engine light, Power steering problem , hill start assist, vehicle stability control, trailer assist, traction control. Took vehicle back to the dealership. The service advisor takes the car back and when I return a few hours later he states that his technician informed him the injectors must also be replaced when the software update is done. Then I am informed that due to previous salvage history (from 2017) the vehicle emissions warranty extension will not be covered by Honda and I will be required to pay roughly $1,500 for this repair. The TSB states that all 2016 Honda pilots are covered. The faulty injectors were an issue from the factory on every single last 2016 pilot that was produced. The dealership caused these lights to come on and now wants me to pay to fix the additional issues they caused.
Fuel lid keep looked or can't be closed.
Throughout last trip I noticed the transmission would make jerking shifts. While on the interstate during a pass travelling at 73 Mph the transmission down shifted and made a loud banging sound, engine lost power but was revving high, I could not accelerate to get away from surrounding traffic. A transmission error come up as I maneuvered the vehicle out of the road to avoid being hit by other vehicles. The AWD error came one and later an emissions error. Once the car was out of the road safely I was able to engage the e-brake then put it into neutral then park. AWD and emissions error remained on. After a minute turn car off then on, emissions error remained on and the car could operate. This scared the family as we could have been rare ended in traffic. Honda dealership in my town could not diagnose the issue. This is the second time this has happened.
Vehicle unexpectedly and unpredictably shuts down when stopped for a red light, at stop sign, or for an extended break period. Vehicle does not immediately restart after shutting off. Vehicle is available for inspection; however, given the safety concerns for our family and unanswered questions from Honda with no resolution in sight, we plan to buy a new vehicle. Vehicle has been disabled when it shuts down in the middle of intersections with cars swerving to avoid. It puts vehicle occupants and other drivers at risk of an accident. Dealer cannot reproduce. After the 1st instance, dealer claimed they found info that was sent to Honda corporate. Vehicle has been inspected by dealership with Honda corporate involvement 3 times. After the 1st time, Honda corporate/dealership replaced battery and state of charge sensor at no cost even though vehicle was not under warranty. After 2nd time, Honda said valves may need adjusting but refused to cover expensive ($1000) work and indicated they were not sure it would even resolve issue. If issue continued, they stated they would not refund money. They now refuse any resolutions without reproducing the car shutting down. There are no warnings, messages, or notifications that vehicle will shut down until it does. A variety of errors display after the vehicle shuts down and vehicle shifts on its own into neutral.
In the past 4 months, each time my Honda Pilot is stopped at a light or in slow traffic, the idle stop will engage and shut off the engine. In order for the engine to turn back on, we have to put our foot on the brake, place car in park, and push the start button to get it to start again. Each time we have taken it to the dealer or a car repair shop, they test the battery and it is fine. While we have not had an accident yet, we have come close due to cars behind us not knowing our vehicle is having an issue. The most recent time occurred in a toll booth line leaving NYC with a line of traffic behind us. Another issue we have experienced is with our fuel injector. Our Pilot was manufactured when there were known failures with fuel injectors. The fuel injector malfunctioned while driving with our three kids down a hill. The car lost power and we had to coast down a hill. Thankfully, an exit was nearby and we were able to come to a stop. Vehicle was serviced at a local dealer. Although there were know issues with fuel injectors, we still had to pay for the replacement and the vehicle's manufacturers warranty was still valid.
The components that have failed are the fuel injectors and catalytic converter. This is according to the Honda dealerships diagnostics. Whenever I press the gas the car hesitates, shudders, shakes, and wont accelerate. This has been an ongoing issue for the past 4 years when the car was 1 year old. It has gradually become worse. My children's safety as well as my safety are put at risk every time I drive. But one example was when I was entering the highway, I tried to speed up and couldn't and almost crashed with another car because my car wasn't functioning correctly and I wasnt able to merge correctly. The dealership has confirmed the issue but wont take responsibility on fixing it. They want me to pay out of pocket. No it has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, etc. At first there were no warning lamps, but there was a slight hesitation. Eventually, when the car started getting worse, the emissions light as well as check engine light came on. Took it it to the dealership and they got Catalytic converter P0430 error code. However, the dealership kept saying it was fuel injectors issue since it was no longer under warranty and they wanted me to pay for it. Fuel injector warranty is covered until 36k miles and I was at 60k miles.I did replace the fuel injectors with a different mechanic and that didn't fix the problem. Still drove the same. Now that I am over 100k miles on my vehicle, they are saying it's the catalytic converter because that warranty ran out at 80k miles and I would have to pay for it. I am not the only 2016 Honda Pilot owner having these issues and Honda is aware of it but wont take responsibility for it. I cannot afford to get a new car. This year model came out faulty and Honda has made bulletins regarding the issue, but wont cover the cost to fix the cars. They should be held responsible.
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH IDLE STOP FEATURE CAUSING CAR ENGINE TO SHUT OFF COMPLETELY (EVEN WHEN DISABLED), RESULTING IN AN ERROR MESSAGE AND REQUIRING THE CAR TO BE TURNED OFF AND ON. TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK MY HONDA PILOT HAS SHUT OFF WHEN AUTO-IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CAR SHOULD REMAIN IN DRIVE BUT WHEN I LOOKED DOWN IT HAD SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. THE FIRST MESSAGE ON THE DASH BRIEFLY FLASHED 'CRASH MITIGATION PROBLEM' AND THEN INSTRUCTED ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PUSH THE ENGINE START BUTTON. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I TURNED OFF THE CRASH MITIGATION SYSTEM. A COUPLE DAYS LATER (TODAY), THE SAME THING HAPPENED. NO CRASH MITIGATION SYSTEM FLASH BUT INSTRUCTIONS TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PRESS THEN ENGINE START BUTTON. BOTH TIMES THE ENGINE WAS ON AND IN DRIVE. AUTO IDLING WAS ENABLED. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR TWO MONTHS.

MY 2016 HONDA PILOT IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS ON FILLING UP MY GAS TANK. MY CAR HAS 46000 MILE AND I DON'T THINK ANY PARTS ARE DAMAGED CAUSE IT ONLY 5 YES OLD. I TRIED LOOKING FOR ANSWERS IN THE WEB BUT NO ONE HAD A CLUE YET THERE WAS LOTS OF PEOPLE FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM. IS THERE ANYWAY YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME WITH THIS. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TRY TO FILL MY GAS TANK IT STOPS FILLING AS IF IT'S FULL BUT IT'S NOT. IT TAKES ME A LONG TIME TO FILL IT UP.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND WHEN DIAGNOSED BY THE REPAIR SHOP THE CODE P0456 WHICH IS VERY SMALL EVAP LEAK. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF WITH THE RECALL ON THIS CAR. THE REPAIR SHOP PRINTED ALL OF THE RECALLS AND TOLD ME MOST LIKELY IT WOULD NEED THE FUEL TANK REPLACED WHICH IS COVER UNDER A RECALL. THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SEE OF THE RECALL WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS DONE IN THE PAST.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) APPEARS, RANDOMLY WHEN PARKED OR IN MOTION, INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH EMISSIONS SYSTEM. CEL BEGAN TO APPEAR AT APPROXIMATELY 77,000 MILES. CAR NOW HAS OVER 85,000 MILES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED, WHEN IT HAD 68,000 MILES. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.. CEL APPEARS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS BETWEEN 0 AND 60 MPH. WHEN IN MOTION AND CEL IS DISPLAYED, ENGINE HESITATION OCCURS CAUSING ME TO INCREASE VEHICLE SPEED AND ENGINE RPM TO ENSURE I HAVE SUFFICIENT POWER TO: COMPLETE A TURN, PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, OR MAKE IT UP A HILL. I AM NEVER SURE I WILL HAVE ENOUGH POWER. ADDITIONALLY, THE MILEAGE ECONOMY DISPLAY CHANGES FROM SHADES OF GREEN TO SOLID WHITE. CEL REMAINS VISIBLE ON DASHBOARD UNTIL IT RANDOMLY DISAPPEARS. CEL WILL REMAIN LIT RANGING FROM 30 MINUTES TO SEVERAL DAYS AND DISAPPEAR AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. WHEN IT DISAPPEARS, ENGINE HESITATION STOPS AND ECONOMY DISPLAY RETURNS TO SHADES OF GREEN DEPENDING ON WHETHER ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. I FIRST BELIEVED IT TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL TANK CAP. HOWEVER, THE CAP IS A HINGED FLAP THAT RETURNS TO THE CLOSED POSITION AFTER I HAVE FINISHED REFUELING. I PREDOMINANTLY USE E87 OCTANE WITH ETHANOL. BUT E89 FUEL MAKES NO DIFFERENCE BECAUSE THE CEL AND HESITATION RANDOMLY STILL OCCUR. I HAVE NOT TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE I HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WHEN THE CEL IS DISPLAYED. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THEY CAN ONLY DIAGNOSE WHEN THE CEL IS DISPLAYED. WHEN MY CAR FUEL WENT DOWN TO EMPTY THE LIGHT CAME ON AND I PULLED OVER TO GET GAS. WHEN I PUSHED THE AUTOMATIC RELEASE BUTTON MY FUEL DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I SEARCHED UP POSSIBLE CAUSES AND FOUND A VIDEO OF A MAN DEMONSTRATING WHERE YOU CAN FIND A MANUAL LEVER TO POLE TO RELEASE THE FUEL DOOR. I FOUND THE LEVER AND PULLED IT AT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT TOO FAR AWAY FROM HOME AND DROVE HOME ON MY EMPTY TANK. IF I HAD BEEN SOMEWHERE FAR AWAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER WHO HAD TO PULL APART HALF OF MY CAR TO GET TO THE PLACE TO FIX IT. I HAD ALSO READ ONLINE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER HONDA PILOT OWNERS. IT SEEMS DANGEROUS.
WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HAS A HESITATIONIN TO IT. MY FOOT REMAINS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND STILL HAS THE HESITATION OR JERKING MOTION, WHICH CAN BE FELT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED THE WEEK BEFORE WE LEFT TO GO OUT OF STATE. IT HAS CONTINUED ON SINCE THEN.

A KNOWN TSB# 18-025 (FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM) WAS OUTSIDE OUR WARRANTY AND HONDA WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. DUE TO THE FUEL INJECTOR ISSUE THE VEHICLE BURNS EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE PER TANK. I HAVE RECORDED APPROXIMATELY 160 MILES PER TANK OF FUEL. IN ADDITION TO THROWING EMISSIONS RELATED CHECK ENGINE CODES.

MY CAR WILL DIE AFTER BEING STOPPED (EX. AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN) AND WILL NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T DIE COMPLETELY. WHEN IT DOES YOU ARE UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK OR ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHERE WE WERE STOPPED AT A RED-LIGHT AND THE CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. A CAR BEHIND US WAS APPROACHING THE LIGHT AND SAW THAT IT WAS GREEN, QUICKLY CAME UP BEHIND US HONKING THEIR HORN AND LUCKY WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE OTHER LANE TO AVOID HITTING US. THIS SEAMS TO HAPPEN WHEN WE FORGET TO TURN OFF THE AUTO IDLE STOP. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO PUSH EVERYONE YOU START THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION AND CHANGED THE TIMING BELT. PREVIOUSLY I HAD THE CARS FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. AFTER ALL THIS WORK THE CAR IS STILL DYING AND IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW OF A FIX YET.

I'VE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY 2016 HONDA PILOT IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS. I CURRENTLY HAVE 110K MILES ON MY VEHICLE BUT MY PROBLEMS BEGAN AT AROUND 80K. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SEVERAL OTHER LIGHTS ILLUMINATE CONSTANTLY. AT FIRST THEY WOULD LIGHT UP AND GO AWAY. BROUGHT IT TO SERVICE. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THEY CHANGE MY SPARK PLUGS AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE MY CAR ON AT LEAST A HALF TANK OF GAS. PROBLEM CONTINUED AND THEN MY CAR STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND IDLING ROUGHER. I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY FUEL INJECTORS. THAT WAS TAKEN CARE AND I STILL HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES ALONG WITH EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM WARMING AND MY CAR STILL RUNS ROUGH AND HAS TROUBLE ACCELERATING. SONG WITH ALL OF THESE ISSUES I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY IGNITION AND KEY FOB AND MY AUTO START IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE OVER A100K ON THE CAR WHICH I UNDERSTAND CAN CAUSE WEAR AND TEAR BUT ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS FAR EXCEED THE DEFINITION OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL ON ANYTHING AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO REMEDY THESE SITUATIONS. MY CAR IS AT SERVICE YET AGAIN TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT TO RUN SO ROUGH. ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

THE FUEL INJECTORS FAILED JUST BEFORE 70,000 MILES ON MY 2016 PILOT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1000. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IS A RIDICULOUSLY COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THE 2016 PILOT; SO COMMON THAT I CANNOT BELIEVE HONDA HASN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE FUEL INJECTORS SHOULD NOT BE FAILING...PERIOD. I'M DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA AND DONE WITH HONDA AFTER THIS CAR.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE 2016 PILOT BACK HOME ONE AFTERNOON(8/15/2019) AND SHE SAW THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON. THE MILES ARE EXACTLY 52500(3.5 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP). I DROVE THE PILOT TO THE HONDA DEALER NEXT DAY MORNING AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE FUEL INJECTORS HAVE GONE BAD AND THE COST IS AROUND $1239.48 TO REPLACE THE FUEL INJECTORS. AS WE NEED TO HAVE THE PILOT ALL THE TIME FOR OUR FAMILY FOR OUR DAILY NEEDS, I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO TALK TO HONDA AND EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. SO, I PAID THE SAID AMOUNT AND GOT IT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. THEN I CONTACTED HONDA BY EMAIL(CASE #09801917) TO REIMBURSE ME AND THE HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT SAID I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND HONDA CAN'T HELP ME IN ANY WAY. I TOLD THEM THAT FUEL INJECTORS ARE LIKE THE HEART OF A VEHICLE, AND THEY SHOULD NOT FAIL SO EARLY IN A CAR'S LIFE AND THAT THEY SHOULD RUN FOR LIFE OF THE CAR. BUT STILL THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE INSISTED THAT MY 2016 PILOT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND HONDA CAN'T REIMBURSE ME. I'VE ALL THE RECEIPTS OF THE WORK DONE AND CAN PROVIDE UPON REQUEST

MY 2016 HONDA PILOT WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD WHEN I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR BEGAN ACTING STRANGE AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY.THE ENGINE KEPT HESITATING AND SHAKING WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS, ALMOST CAUSING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH ALL CAME ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST $125 AND THEY SAID I NEEDED NEW FUEL INJECTORS ON MY ALMOST NEW CAR.THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $2000 OUT OF POCKET.I COULDNT AFFORD IT. CALLED HONDA CORPORATE, THEY ALSO REFUSED TO HELP.SO I TOOK IT TO A FRIEND MECHANIC WHO COULDNT BELIEVE I NEEDED NEW FUEL INJECTORS WHEN I ONLY HAD 60K MILES ON THE CAR. HE REPLACED ALL THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THE CAR WORKED FOR A WHILE. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 40K MILES I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR AND IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE DUE TO NEW DIRECT INJECTION TECHNOLOGY THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE PILOTS AND HONDA IS REFUSING TO DO A RECALL OR FIX THE ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE MY FUEL INJECTORS EVERY 40K MILES. I STILL OWE MONEY ON THE CAR AND HAVE 2 MORE YEARS LEFT TO PAY. I AM STUCK WITH THIS HORRIBLE UNSAFE VEHICLE UNTIL THEN.I NEED IT TO GET TO WORK. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM HONDA AGAIN. I HAVE SUBMITTED A COPY OF THE INVOICE FROM THE SECOND MECHANIC DIAGNOSTIC I WENT TO AFTER I WENT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR THE FIRST HONDA MECHANIC DIAGNOSTIC INVOICE.
EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON AT 36,942 MILES. I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,500. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AT 942 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
Mileage: 36,942
ON AUGUST 9, 2020, I WAS DRIVING, AT 75, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, I NEEDED EXTRA SPEED TO PASS A VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE, I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL STILL ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A POWER DOWN MODE WITH THE DASHBOARD FLASHING CODES AND THEN WENT BLANK. THE ENGINE DOWNSHIFTED AND THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASED TO 7,000 RPM. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, AT 75 MPH, AND RESTARTED WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING UP AGAIN. AFTER PANICKING, TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR GAS AND IT WOULD NOT GO. NOW AT 65 MPH, I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND COASTED DOWN TO 40 MPH AND THE CAR STARTED HAVING POWER AGAIN. WE PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND AN "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM" WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR HAS 56,217 MILES ON IT. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS PROBLEM. THE DASHBOARD WARNING SYSTEM DISPLAYED THE FOLLOWING CODES, "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM"; "ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM"; "TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM" AND THE "D" DRIVE SYMBOL WAS FLASHING ON & OFF. AN EARLIER INCIDENT, MAY 6, 2020, HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN LOCAL TRAFFIC. DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. SHE ALSO TRIED TO GIVE MORE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. SHE STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. SHE RESTARTED THE CAR AND PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY. SHE CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE SERVICE CENTER. THEY TOOK THE CAR AND DROVE IT AROUND THE BUILDING AND SAID THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER FOR CODES, BUT NONE WHERE PRESENT. AT THIS TIME THE CAR ONLY HAD 55,000 TO 56,000 MILES. THEY TOLD HER NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS TO TAKE A VIDEO SO THEY CAN SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CAR. TAKE A VIDEO WHILE DRIVING A CAR THAT IS SHUTTING DOWN IS THEIR SUGGESTION....

MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH WHEN CAR WAS TURNED ON. ENGINE IS RUNNING ROUGH AND OCCASIONAL MISFIRING, ESPECIALLY AROUND 30-40 MPH. MECHANIC TELLS ME FUEL INJECTORS ARE CLOGGED, AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER. 72K MILES ON CAR SO PAST IT'S WARRANTY. SERVICE BULLETIN 18-025 ISSUED BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE BEING CAUSED BY FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS WITH INTENSE PSI WHICH IS CAUSING METAL PARTICLES TO CONTAMINATE FUEL. THIS SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF NOT REPAIRED AND HONDA SHOULD HAVE THE BURDEN OF PAYING, NOT THE CONSUMER.
Mileage: 72,000
CAR HESITATES FROM 0 MPH WHILE REVS ARE INCREASING ON HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS AND WHILE GEARS ARE CHANGING OR WHEN ACCELERATION IS REQUESTED THEN THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT'S HESITANT TO INCREASE POWER. ALSO WHEN GOING UPHILL OR ON INCLINED BRIDGES ON CRUISE CONTROL IT HESITATES TO MAINTAIN SPEED AND FEEL LIKE ITS JUMPING FORWARD. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PILOT OWNERS AND IF IT WAS BECAUSE THEY RECOMMEND FROM THE FACTORY TO USE REGULAR GAS, MAYBE ITS AN OCTANE PROBLEM. BOTTOM LINE IT HESITATES WHEN STOPPED AND STARTS IN MOTION AND ALSO WHEN YOU REQUEST SOME MORE POWER WHILE ON HIGHWAYS. IT IS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I DO NOT DRIVE MY PILOT LIKE A SPORTS CAR I'M CAREFUL AND TAKE CARE OF MY INVESTMENT.
Mileage: 40,100
I WENT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN FREDERICKSBURG BECAUSE I HAD A SIGN ON MY CAR SAYING EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM AND ALL WHEELS DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM. ONCE I GOT TO THE HONDA DEALER THEY SAID THE FUEL INJECTORS FAILED AND YOU NEED NEW ONES. I WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 YEARS AGO PARTIALLY NEW WITH LITTLE MILES ON IT. TO GET THE FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED THE DEALERSHIP IS ASKING ME $1500. THAT IS INSANE BECAUSE ITS CLEARLY NOT MY FAULT THIS CAR NEVER GOT INTO A ACCIDENT AND I MAINTAINED IT TOP NOTCH.I WENT ONLINE AGAIN ADN DID MY RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER COME TO KNOW THERE ARE OVER THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE THAT THIS IS NEVER BEEN RECALLED. I WILL NOT PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH FOUR KIDS IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE LIKE THIS.
EMISSIONS SYSTEM ERROR NOTIFICATION BEGAN SHORTLY AFTER VEHICLE PURCHASE AT 38,000K MILES. LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO BACK OFF PERIODICALLY, CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND BROUGHT VEHICLE IN. WAS ADVISED THAT CODE COULD NOT BE REVIEWED AT THAT TIME BUT AS WARRANTY WAS CLOSE TO EXPIRATION, NOTE WOULD BE ADDED AND MAY ASSIST IF LIGHT STAYED ON. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A NEW DEALERSHIP WHEN WE RELOCATED, THIS TIME MILEAGE AT 58,000, WAS ADVISED VEHICLE NEEDED FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED AS WELL AS FUEL PIPE. REVIEW OF MESSAGE BOARDS AND SERVICE BULLETIN 018-25 APPEARS TO SHOW ISSUE IS ONGOING AND WIDESPREAD. CONTACTED HONDA SERVICE AND WAS ADVISED OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND HONDA WOULD NOT ASSIST. ASSISTANCE OR LACK THEREOF APPEARS TO BE BASED ON REPRENTATIVE, SEVERAL CUSTOMERS REPORT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE VOUCHERS OFFERED OTHERS, MYSELF INCLUDED WERE TOLD GOOD LUCK AND GOODBYE. HONDA DEALERSHIPS REGULARLY ADVISING THAT PARTS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER DUE TO KNOWN ISSUE BUT REFUSE TO RECALL. PROBLEM FIRST BEGAN ONLY ON VERY WARM DAYS BUT WOULD DISAPPEAR WHEN TEMPERATURES DROPPED. IS NOW ONGOING. VEHICLE ALSO OCCASIONALLY FAILS TO RE-ENGAGE AFTER THE AUTO SHUTOFF ON IDLE.
Mileage: 58,000
#1 KEYLESS REMOTE ENTRY HAS NOT WORKED FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $300. AUTOMATIC LOCK FEATURE IS NOT WORKING ANY MORE. BASED ON MY RESEARCH IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HONDA KEEP GUESSING ON AND CHARGING FOR REPLACING, WITH NO REAL FIX. #2 WHEN DRIVING, ALL OF THE SUDDEN ALL ENGINE LIGHTS START COMING ON, BREAK, POWER STEERING, VEHICLE STABILITY...ALL OF THEM ONE BY ONE. AT THE TIME MY PILOT STARTED "PULLING", AND RPM GAGE WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN. A FEW DAYS LATER TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THIS TIME, IT ONLY HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND A CODE P0304 WAS DETECTED. CHANGED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND COILS, ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY FOR A WEEK. AGAIN, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL LIGHTS START COMING UP AGAIN AND THE SAME "PULLING" HAPPENS. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE TO BE DRIVING ON. OTHER HONDA PILOT SAME YEAR DRIVERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

STARTED CAR IN THE MORNING AND MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED - CAR WORKED JUST FINE THE NIGHT BEFORE WHEN IT WAS PARKED. TOOK IT TO DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AND IT CAME BACK WITH CODE P0304 AND A RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE ALL FUEL INJECTORS AND RAILS (PIPES) FOR A TOTAL COST OF $1,311.19. CAR ONLY HAD 46,473 MILES. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD ON TIME SERVICE ALWAYS AND ONLY SERVICED BY DEALER. CAN PROVIDE REPAIR INVOICE IF NEEDED

EMISSION SYSTEMS PROBLEM
Mileage: 53,000
ON FRIDAY, 2/21, THE 'EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM' CAME ON MY DASH (AGAIN). DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALER ON MONDAY, 2/24. WE WERE TOLD THE FUEL INJECTORS ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEN WE GOT A CALL BACK THAT AFTER THEY GOT IN THERE, ALL THE SEALS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TOO. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS BRAND NEW CAR FOR 4 YEARS & 4 MONTHS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA.
Mileage: 54,000
WITH LESS THAN 40K MILES, THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A MESSAGE ABOUT AN ENGINE PROBLEM. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE NEW FUEL INJECTORS, AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1300. I HAVE HAD OTHER HONDA VEHICLES THAT HAVE GONE 100K MILES AND MORE WITHOUT SUCH PROBLEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. IT SHOULD BE COVERED ON SUCH A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE REQARDLESS OF VEHICLE AGE.
Mileage: 39,737
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH OUR PILOT SINCE NOVEMBER. I WENT TO START IT ONE DAY AND A LOT OF LIGHTS ON THE DASH TURNED ON. IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED BY HONDA THAT THE ISSUE IS FUEL INJECTORS, IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR PILOT, WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE TOLD US THIS. THE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED AND STAY ON THROUGH ALL DRIVING. WE HAVE CHECKED THE CODES THAT POP UP AND IT SWITCHES THE MISFIRE CODE FROM ONE CYLINDER TO ANOTHER, AND ALSO SHOWS MULTIPLE MISFIRES.
Mileage: 78,196
AT JUST OVER 70K MILES, I GET THE DREADED "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM" WHEN I START MY CAR THE OTHER MORNING. I IMMEDIATELY TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND I AM TOLD I WILL NEED ALL 6 FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, HONDA'S TSB 018-25 INDICATES THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THIS FUEL INJECTOR ISSUE AS AN ISSUE THAT OCCURRED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, YET THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FULLY TRANSPARENT ABOUT THE ISSUE, NOR HAVE THEY ISSUED A RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS ALSO RETURNING THE EXACT ERROR CODE AS INDICATED IN THE BULLETIN (P0301). THE BULLETIN I AM REFERRING TO (VERSION 2) WAS RELEASED IN APRIL 2018. HAD HONDA BEEN TRANSPARENT AND NOTIFIED CUSTOMERS OF THIS ISSUE DURING THIS TIME FRAME, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MANY CUSTOMERS WOULD HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THE INJECTORS REPLACED, FOR FREE, DURING THEIR 3 YEAR/36K WARRANTY. WELL, NOW MANY OF THE PILOT OWNERS ARE BEYOND THIS POINT AND FIGURING THE ISSUE OUT THE HARD WAY AND POTENTIALLY HAVING TO FOOT A $1500-$2000 BILL. DECEPTIVE AND DECEITFUL BEHAVIOR LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. I HAVE OWNED FIVE HONDA AUTOMOBILE/MOTORCYCLE PRODUCTS IN MY LIFETIME AND THIS IS THE FIRST ISSUE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THE 2016 PILOT HAS SEVERE QUALITY ISSUES. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A WARRANTY REPAIR WITHOUT A DOUBT.
Mileage: 70,000
EMISSION ISSUE STARTED SHOWING AS A WARNING SIGN. AND, IT COMES AND GOES TO EVEN PROPERLY REPORT THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, AFTER 3 YEARS MARK (42,OOO MILES) IT SHOWED ALL THE POSSIBLE SIGNS ON THE SCREEN. HONDA SERVICE CENTER SAYS THAT FUEL INJECTORS WENT BAD. IT TAKES $1350 TO FIX IT. I HAVE PICTURE PROOFS SAYING THAT THE EMISSION ISSUE POPPED UP WELL BEFORE 32 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE (IN WARRANTY).
EMISSIONS SYSTEM ERROR DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING. NEXT DAY I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THE WHOLE FUEL INJECTOR UNIT SHOULD BE REPLACED. SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF 3 YR/36000 MILES WARRANTY, THE DEALER QUOTED $1700 TO REPLACE THE FUEL INJECTORS. I'M VERY SUPPRESSED SEE THIS ISSUE ON RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE.
Mileage: 80,000
WHILE DRIVING MY 2016 EXL HONDA PILOT AWD, IT BEGAN DISPLAYING MULTIPLE CODES SUCH AS HILL START ASSIST, ROAD DEPARTURE, EMISSIONS SYSTEM, POWER STEERING, AND, TSA. I TOOK IT RIGHT AWAY TO A NEARBY AUTO ZONE AND THE CODE THEY GAVE ME WAS P0304 CYLINDER MISFIRE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO HENDRICK HONDA THE CODES WERE NO LONGER FLASHING. BUT THEY RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND PERFORMED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR AND I INFORMED THAT THEIR WAS A $1,500 REPAIR CHARGE FOR FUEL INJECTORS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I FOUND OUT THAT THEIR WAS SERVICE BULLETIN 18-025. THIS SERVICE STATES THAT THE PROBABLE CAUSE IS DEBRIS FROM THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP OR THE FUEL INCEPTOR MACHINING PROCESS CAN CAUSE INTERVAL WEAR OR CLOGGING INSIDE THE INJECTOR WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL INJECTORS. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. A FAILING FUEL INJECTOR COULD LEAVE US STRANDED OR STALL OUT ON A HIGHWAY. IN ADDITION, IT LOWERS GAS MILEAGE, INCREASES EMISSIONS, AND CAN LEAD TO A HOST OF OTHER DANGEROUS FAILURES IN YOUR VEHICLE. IT IS MY HOPE THAT HONDA WILL BE REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THEIR FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS.
Mileage: 87,000
MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON INCLUDING ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION WARNING, TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST WARNING, HILL START ASSIST WARNING, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST WARNING, EMISSIONS SYSTEM CONTROL WARNING, ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WARNING, POWER STEERING WARNING AND ACC WARNING WHERE ALL CAME UP AT THE SAME TIME WITH A SUDDEN JERK AND CAR CANNOT GO BEYOND 20 MI/HR WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THAT ALMOST GOT ME INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH AN INDIVIDUAL ON THE REAR ALMOST BUMPED ME. NOW I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I ACTUALLY GOT THE ATTENTION OF MY DEALER (NORRIS HONDA) WHEN THE JERKING STARTED AT THE MILEAGE OF 34,100 MILES AND HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BUT WITH NO WARNING LIGHT COMING ON. THEY DID A TEST DRIVE AND IT SO HAPPENED THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN THEY TESTED IT AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENCE OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH HONDA PILOT 2016 AND 2017 AND IS A COMMON ISSUE AND ENDED UP HAVING TO CHANGE THE FUEL INJECTORS AND HAVE SOLVED THEIR PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM THOUGH IS, MY CAR IS ONLY 3YRS OLD AND HAVING ALL THESE PROBLEMS NOW AND THEY CHARGE $1800.00 TO CHANGE THE INJECTORS, WHICH I THINK IS WAY TOO MUCH FOR A FAIRLY NEW CAR WITH DEALER BEING AWARE OF THE FIRST JERKING PROBLEMS BEFORE THE WARRANTY ENDED. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ALL HONDA CARS SINCE I STARTED HAVING A CAR BECAUSE OF ITS RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE AND NOW THIS HAPPENED. IT HAS BEEN A VERY COMMON PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE. I HOPE THAT THERE WILL BE NO ACCIDENTS WITH ONE LOSING LIFE BEFORE A RECALL IS MADE. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME OUT WITH THIS, THANK YOU
Mileage: 41,460
THE FUEL INJECTORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 30 TO 40K MILES IN THIS VEHICLE. HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS NO FIX OTHER THAN TO REINSTALL THE SAME BAD INJECTORS SO THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES ON MY VEHICLE
Mileage: 35,000
I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES INCLUDING FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS, FAULTY COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM, FAULTY HOMELINK TRANSMITTER, AUDIO BLUETOOTH THAT RESETS ON ITS OWN AND NOW THE LATEST ONE IS A KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE THAT WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR SENSE SOMETHING IN FRONT (WHERE THERE IS NOTHING) AND IT BREAKS, ALSO DRIVING IN HIGHWAY OR ABOVE 50 AND TRY TO PRESS BREAKS, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. MY CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 36K MILES AND ALL THESE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED SINCE 34K MILES.
FRAGMENTS FROM THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF FUEL INJECTORS ARE CLOGGING THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CAUSE FAILURE FOR A PROPERLY RUNNING ENGINE. ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY IS WORRISOME AS THE ENGINE IS MISFIRING. AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE AND HAS A TSB FOR THIS. WE ARE NOT DRIVING IS AT THIS TIME BECAUSE HONDA DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
Mileage: 47,000
AFTER FUELING, NO TOPPING OFF, DRIPS OR LEAKS, VERY STRONG GAS ODOR IN INTERIOR. SO STRONG COULDN'T DRIVE. HAD TO LEAVE IT SIT WITH OPEN WINDOWS. STRONG FUEL SMELL CONTINUED THROUGHOUT DAY, CONTINUED MILDER SMELL, BUT VERY NOTICEABLE NEXT DAY. WENT TO DEALER, THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS. KEEPING IT OVERNIGHT. AFTER RESEARCH HONDA KNOWS ABOUT PROBLEM BUT HAS NO CURRENT FIX OR OFFERS OF BUYBACK.
Mileage: 49,000
THE 2016 HONDA PILOT FEATURED REDESIGNED FUEL INJECTORS THAT ARE UNDER INTENSE PSI. AFTER APPROX. 3 YEARS, THEY ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. MOST FUEL INJECTORS ARE DESIGNED TO LAST THE LIFE OF A CAR. MOREOVER, IT'S IS STATISTICALLY EXTREMEMLY IMPROBABLE THAT EVERY FUEL INJECTOR WOULD GO BAD AT THE SAME TIME. APPARENTLY, THE FUEL INJECTORS ARE PUTTING OFF TINY PIECES OF METAL THAT ARE BUILDING UP INSIDE AND RENDERING THEM USELESS. IF UNTREATED, THIS COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO BREAK DOWN AND BECOME A HAZARD IF DRIVING AT THAT TIME. HONDA EVEN RECOGNIZES THE DEFECT IN THAT THEY HAVE PUT OUT AN INTERNAL SERVICE MEMO DIRECTING THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENTS TO REPLACE ALL THE INJECTORS WHEN THEY SEE THIS ISSUE COME IN. THAT SAID, THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY INSTEAD OPTING TO LET CUSTOMERS FEEL THE BURDEN OF REPLACING ALL OF THEIR INJECTORS AT A COST OF $1500 EVERY THREE YEARS. THERE HAVE BEEN APPROX. 407,666 HONDA PILOTS SOLD SINCE 2016 AND ALL OF THEM ARE SUBJECT TO THIS PROBLEM. A QUICK GLANCE ONLINE SHOWS HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS.
Mileage: 93,000
OUR 2016 HONDA PILOT HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR FAULT CODE P0420. DEALER DIAGNOSIS WAS FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS IN CYLINDERS 2 AND 3. DEALER REPLACED ALL 6 FUEL INJECTORS FREE OF CHARGE. IT SEEMS PREPOSTEROUS THAT ANY OF THE 6 FUEL INJECTORS HAD FAILED WITH ONLY 41,632 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. HONDA IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS THEY RELEASED SERVICE BULLETIN 18-025. IN MY OPINION, THIS SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL INSTEAD OF A SERVICE BULLETIN. AND HONDA SHOULD FOOT THE BILL FOR ANY OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, REGARDLESS OF YEARS IN SERVICE OR MILES
Mileage: 41,632
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. DEALER INSPECTED AND DETERMINED FUEL INJECTOR DAMAGE. HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN STATES "DEBRIS FROM THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP OR THE FUEL INJECTOR MACHINING PROCESS CAN CAUSE INTERNAL WEAR OR CLOGGING INSIDE THE INJECTOR". HONDA DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE MANUFACTURER DEFECT DESPITE FUEL INJECTORS NOT DESIGNED TO WEAR OUT AT 62K MILES.
Mileage: 62,000
WARNING LIGHT ON DASH. EMISSIONS SYSTEMS PROBLEM. HONDA SERVICE SAYS I NEED TO REPLACE FUEL INJECTORS FOR $1500. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL I THINK.
Mileage: 43,400
WE BOUGHT A 2016 HONDA PILOT EX AWD FROM A DEALER A MONTH AGO WITH 62K MILES ON IT. THREE DAYS AGO AN EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THE CODES WERE P0430 AND P219B. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT ONE OF THE CYLINDERS WAS RUNNING RICH AND MISFIRING. ALL 6 FUEL INJECTORS AND A FLEX PIPE NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE ESTIMATED COST WAS $1700. I CALLED HONDA AMERICA THINKING THIS IS HAPPENING TOO EARLY TO A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH RELATIVELY FEW MILES ON IT. MY OTHER 2011 HONDA IS AT 145K AND NEVER NEEDED FUEL INJECTOR REPLACEMENT. I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG 2016 PILOTS AND THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR IT 18-025. HONDA AMERICA SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT AND THAT THE 3 YEAR 36K WARRANTY IS OVER. I AM AWARE OF THOSE, BUT A 3 YEAR OLD HONDA SHOULD NOT NEED THIS REPLACEMENT. THEY ARE RESEARCHING IF THEY SHOULD ASSIST WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR, AND WILL GET BACK TO ME IN A FEW DAYS. HOWEVER, I WOULD URGE OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS MAKE A COMPLAINT HERE AND PRESSURE FOR A RECALL. IF THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES AND THE CAR GOES TO LIMB MODE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, IT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. IT WOULD ALSO NOT BE SAFE BEING STUCK NEXT TO A HIGHWAY WITH A CAR NOT WORKING. I AM GLAD IN MY CASE IT WAS NOTICED EARLY ON WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS ALSO AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR EARLY ON IN A CAR AND SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED BY HONDA.
Mileage: 62,500
EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT APPEARS. MANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AS WELL. THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTS TO BLINK. THE CAR STARTS TO SHAKE AND SPUTTERED AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THE CAR MANUAL STATES TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER AND LET ENGINE SIT FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN DRIVE IMMEDIATELY TO DEALER. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN PULLING OUR BOAT AND WE WERE UNABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS POSES A RISK OF FIRE. IT HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHEN I AM NOT IN A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD TO PULL OVER. THE FIRST FEW TIMES, THE DEALER WAS NOT OPEN WHEN IT WAS OCCURRING. NOW THE DEALER HAS INSPECTED IT. THEY RETRIEVED MISFIRE DTC'S AND P219A CODE. FOUND FUEL INJECTORS ARE CAUSE OF DTC. HONDA ISSUED A HONDA SERVIE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE TSB A18-025. THEY ALSO REDESIGNED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND ARE NO LONGER USING THE OLD ONES. MANY VEHICLES ARE EFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. THEY WANT $1500 FOR REPAIR.
Mileage: 94,000
I PURCHASED THE CAR AT AROUND 43,000 AND FIRST 'EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM' LIGHT APPEARED IN THE CAR DASH AROUND 46,500 MILES. I GOT AN APPOINTMENT FROM MY HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS, BUT BY THE TIME I BROUGHT IT, THE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF. THEY READ THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE AND UPDATED SOFTWARE PART OF TSB #17-036. AFTER COUPLE HUNDRED MILES, LIGHT KEPT COMING ON-OFF AND EVERY TIME I GOT APPOINTMENT IT DISAPPEARED AND I CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT. FINALLY I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 58.500 MILES EVEN IF THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THE DASHBOARD. THEY READ THE SAME SOFTWARE CODE BUT THEY RUN DIAGNOSIS AND FINALLY FOUND ISSUE WITH INJECTORS. THEY TOLD ME THAT INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. I REACHED TO AMERICAN HONDA AND MADE THEM AWARE OF MY PROBLEM. AFTER WAITING NEARLY 1-WEEK, HONDA DEALER REACHED ME AND SAID AMERICAN HONDA IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE IT IS CONSIDER AS PART OF 3 YEARS/36.000 MILES WARRANTY. THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND INJECTOR ISSUE AFTER RUNNING DIAGNOSIS FOR 3-4 HOURS AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE SHOWING THIS ISSUE IS USER RELATED. AMERICAN HONDA ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE(TSB #18-025) WHICH SHOWS THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR PILOT MODELS AND I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS ANY PRODUCTION/DESIGN PROBLEM AND MIGHT NEED A RECALL FOR FUTURE RISKS.
Mileage: 46,500
WARNING LIGHT: EMISSION SYSTEMS PROBLEM I PURCHASED THE CAR AT AROUND 56,000 MILES FROM A NON-HONDA DEALERSHIP. THIS LIGHT FIRST APPEARED AROUND 58,000 MILES WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON IN MY DRIVEWAY TO GO TO WORK. I CALLED MY LOCAL MECHANIC (I.E NOT A HONDA DEALERSHIP) TO ASK TO BRING IT IN FOR DIAGNOSIS, BUT BY THE TIME I BROUGHT IT IN ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF. MY MECHANIC READ THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE P0430. PER TSB #17-036, THIS CODE MEANT I NEEDED TO UPDATE PCM SOFTWARE, AND HE TOLD ME TO TALK IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. FROM THIS POINT UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, THE WARNING CONTINUED TO GO ON AND OFF FOR DAYS AT A TIME. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 6/8/19 AND THE CAR WAS AT 59,184 MILES. I TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR WHAT I HAD DONE SO FAR. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, HE INFORMED ME THAT THE PCM SOFTWARE HAD ALREADY BEEN UPDATED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER, AND THAT THEY FOUND CODE P0430 B2 CAT FAULT, INDICATING THE NEED FOR A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THIS FELL UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY AND IT WAS REPLACED A NOT COST TO ME. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE WARNING LIGHT PATTERN OCCURRED AGAIN, COMING ON AND OFF SPORADICALLY. I WAITED A WHILE BEFORE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT TOOK IT THERE ON 9/21/19 WITH 64,788 MILES. THIS TIME, THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CODES P0430 AND P219B, WHICH IS EXPLAINED IS TSB #18-025, AND I WAS INFORMED I WOULD NEED NEW FUEL INJECTORS, WHICH WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER ANY REMAINING WARRANTY.
Mileage: 58,000
THE SYSTEMS EMISSION LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND OFF. ALSO THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH RECEIVING FUEL CORRECTLY AND THE CAR SEEMS TO HESITATE ABOUT WHEN ACCELERATING. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTORS ON THE 2016 PILOT BUT MINE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR SOME REASON.

ON 8/29/2019 I RECEIVED AN ERROR CODE THAT APPEARED ON THE CENTER DASH DISPLAY UNIT OF MY 2016 HONDA PILOT. THE ERROR CODE SAID "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM". I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO OBTAIN AN ERROR CODE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE ERROR CODE WAS "P219A/B - FOR FUEL INJECTORS. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THIS INDICATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE FAULTY AND THEY WERE OUT OF WARRANTY (3 YRS OR 36,000 MILES)AND I WOULD BE NEEDING TO REPLACE ALL 6 FUEL INJECTORS. IT WAS STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL COME AS A SET OF 6 AND YOU CAN NOT PURCHASE THEM AS INDIVIDUAL INJECTORS. HONDA PART NUMBER 16010-RLV-315 APPEARS TO CONFIRM THIS. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 34671 MILES AT THIS DATE AND IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT FUEL INJECTORS CAN BE BAD WITH THIS MILEAGE. A SEARCH OF THE HONDA PILOT OWNERS WEBSITE SHOWS THAT NUMEROUS OTHER 2016 PILOT OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ROUGHLY THE SAME MILEAGE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FAULTY PRODUCT AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SUSTAIN REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT EXPENSE. WITH THIS BEING A FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENT, I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF ONE OR MORE INJECTORS WERE TO FAIL COMPLETELY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN A SEVERE TRAFFIC SITUATION?
Mileage: 34,671

MY CAR IS AT 37,000 MILES (OF COURSE JUST OVER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY) AND NOW HAS FUEL INJECTOR FAILURE. CAR IS HESITATING AND SPUTTERING DURING ACCELERATION ON ANY ROAD. THE FAILURE IN OUR FUEL INJECTORS HAS CAUSED TRANSMISSION FLUID TO BECOME DIRTY AND IS MAKING THE CAR DRIVE STUTTER AND HESITATE DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD WE NEED TO REPLACE FUEL INJECTORS AND REPLACE TRANSITION FLUID. VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD.
Mileage: 35,000
THE FUEL INJECTORS FAILED AT 41,000 MILES AND THE CAR WAS 2 AND HALF YEARS OLD. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH NO OUTWARD CONDITIONS OF A PROBLEM. HONDA SERVICE TECHNICIAN COULDN'T CLEAR ENGINE LIGHT. HE CLAIMED IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THEY REPLACED AT 1200 HUNDRED DOLLARS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE HEARD OTHER HONDA OWNERS WITH THE 2016 PILOT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. HONDA HAS BEEN TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE TO MY CONCERNS. THIS WAS WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.
Mileage: 41,000
THE ENGINE IDLE STOP FEATURE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP THE ENGINE TURNS OFF LIKE INTENDED. SOMETIMES THE RADIO TURNS OFF AND RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY. RANDOMLY WHEN YOU TAKE YOU FOOT OFF THE GAS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND ALL FUNCTIONS TURN OFF. IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE YOU NEED TO PRESS THE IGNITION BUTTON AND SET THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE MOST RECENT TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT A CREST. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE.

CABIN FILLS-UP WITH GASOLINE FUMES WHEN AT REST/IDE/NOT MOVING. FUMES COME FROM AIR VENTS AND ONLY HAPPENS WHEN PULLING AIR FROM OUTSIDE. NO GASOLINE SMELL OCCURS WHEN AIR SYSTEM IS IN RE-CIRCULATION MODE. GASOLINE SMELL GOES AWAY WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN BOZEMAN, MT AND THEY STATED THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THE COMPUTER DOES NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. TECHNICIANS SAY THEY CAN'T SMELL THE FUMES BUT EVERY PASSENGER THAT RIDES IN MY CAR CAN EVENTUALLY SMELL THE GASOLINE FUMES. I THINK THE TECHNICIANS CAN'T SMELL IT SINCE THEY ARE DESENSITIZED FROM BEING EXPOSED TO GAS FUMES ROUTINELY, SO NOT THEIR FAULT. GASOLINE SMELL CAN ALSO BE DETECTED WHEN IN THE GARAGE (CAR NOT RUNNING) AND NO OTHER SOURCE OF GASOLINE IS IN THE GARAGE (GARAGE DOORS WERE LEFT OPEN FOR 15 MINUTES TO EVACUATE ANY FUMES FROM WHEN CAR WAS ON PRIOR TO GAS SMELL). THIS STARTED TO OCCUR APPROX. NOVEMBER 2018. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND A FORUM OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME STATE THAT TECHNICIANS EVENTUALLY FOUND LIQUID GAS IN THE EVAPORATION CANISTER. FORUM HERE: HTTPS://WWW.PILOTEERS.ORG/FORUMS/114-2016-THIRD-GENERATION-PILOT/99809-GAS-SMELL-CABIN.HTML I WILL KEEP TAKING MY PILOT BACK TO DEALERSHIPS UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED AND WILL SUGGEST CHECKING THE EVAP. CANISTER. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM TO BE OCCURRING WITH HONDA NOT TAKING THE PROBLEM SERIOUSLY. THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS BUT WITH HONDA ITSELF.

AS YOU ACCELERATE, THE CAR GOES IN AND OUT OF GETTING FUEL TO THE ENGINE. THE RPM’S DROP AND INCREASE AT LEAST 1,000 RPMS EACH SECOND. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. HAPPENS BOTH ON CITY STREETS, BUT MORE SO ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY IF SMALL TEXAS HILLS ARE INVOLVED. TOOK CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP. THEY CLEANED THE FUEL LINES, AND RESET THE COMPUTER. THIS HAS HELPED.

DURING START UP AND WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COME ON, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND INFORMED THE FUEL INJECTORS NEEDED REPLACED. FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN STATING THAT HONDA HAS FOUND FUEL INJECTORS WERE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY DURING MANUFACTURING.

TAKATA RECALL MY HONDA PILOT ONLY 83000 MILES. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND EMMISSION PROBLEM BOTH LIGHTS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN I FELT THE CAR NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE, I IMMEDIATELY TURNED INTO A LOT AND I AM WAITING HERE EVER SINCE BECAUSE THE CAR ISN'T MOVING FORWARD.

ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER, 24, AT APPROXIMATE 9:45 AM I WAS DRIVING UPHILL AND NOTICED MY ENGINE WAS MAKING AN ODD SOUND. IT MADE IT WHEN I ACCELERATED, BUT STOPPED AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. AS I GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL, THERE WAS NO MORE SOUND. ABOUT 1 MINUTE LATER I PULLED INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, THE CAR WAS ON A SLIGHT UPWARD ANGLE, AND I WAS GOING TO TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN VALITION. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 FEET AWAY FROM A PARKED CAR, AND MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING FULL SPEED TOWARDS THIS CAR. AT THE TIME, I BELIEVE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, WHICH MADE IT EVEN MORE SHOCKING WHY THE CAR WAS PROPELLING FORWARD. I QUICKLY STOMPED ON THE BRAKE AGAIN AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. IT HIT THE PARKED CAR WITH TWO OCCUPANTS.

THE VEHICLE STARTS TO STUTTER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING THE RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATES GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHILE MAINTAINING SPEED. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS FUEL INJECTOR FAILED AND IT WASN'T THE FIRST TIME OF THEM HEARING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. MANY INSTANCES SEEN ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.

MY 2016 HONDA PILOT DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE "EMISSIONS" CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, ALL WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE HONDA DEALER CLAIMS THAT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM EACH TIME; BUT THAT'S NOT THE CASE. THE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON IN DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS.

2016 HONDA HAD RECALL FOR FUEL TANK LEAKAGE. MY VIN OUT OF THAT RANGE BUT I NOTICE RECENTLY MY HONDA PILOT 2016 HAVE LEAKAGE TOO. WHEN FUELING I SAW UNDERNEATH CAR THERE'S FUEL DROPPING. HONDA SAID MY CAR NOT IN THE RANGE. SO I WANT TO CLAIM REPORT THERE IS MORE CAR OUT THERE EXPOSED SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD SITUATION.

I HAD PULLED OUT OF A PARKING PLACE AND WAS WAITING IN THE TRAFFIC LANE TO EXIT THE AREA. THERE WERE TWO CARS IN FRONT OF US. THE CARS WERE STOPPED. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 20-25 FEET BEHIND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE IN MY CAR TO LET IT IDLE FORWARD. AS I APPROACHED THE YUKON I REAPPLIED THE BRAKE. THE CAR ACCELERATED TO WHAT SOUNDED LIKE FULL RPM'S AND I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR SLAMMED INTO THE YUKON WITH SUCH AN IMPACT THAT BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG HIT ME IN THE FACE. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DID NOT REACH MY WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SHE IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCED SEVERE CHEST PAIN AND RAPID HEART BEAT. BYSTANDERS CALLED 911 AND TWO PARK RANGERS ARRIVED IN APPROX. 15-20 MINUTES. THE RANGERS FINISHED TAKING PICTURES AND ASKED ME TO PULL IN TO A PARKING SPOT OUT OF THE TRAVEL LANE OF THE PARKING LOT. I STARTED THE CAR AND PROCEEDED SLOWLY AND TURNED INTO A PARKING SPOT. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO PARK, THE SAME PHENOMENON OCCURRED AGAIN. THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD OVER A CURB AND WALKWAY AND STRUCK A PEDESTRIAN BEFORE COMING TO A STOP ON A RETAINING WALL. I DESPERATELY TRIED TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE EMS WAS THERE SHORTLY AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE. A RANGER ASKED ME HOW FAST I WAS MOVING AND I STATED I HAD NO IDEA. I ASKED HIM TO ASK THE RANGER WHO WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND HE SAID 5 MPH. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AFTER THEY TRANSPORTED THE PEDESTRIAN ON THE BACKBOARD.THE AMBULANCE WAS READY TO TAKE MY WIFE TO THE HOSPITAL SO I APPROACHED THE PARK RANGER AND TOLD HIM THAT I NEEDED TO RIDE IN THE AMBULANCE WITH MY WIFE.

MY FAMILY TRAVELED IN THIS VEHICLE TO CARLSBAD LAST WEEK FOR VACATION, INCLUDING MYSELF, MY WIFE, OUR 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND 11 YEAR OLD SON. THE VEHICLE WORKED PERFECTLY UNTIL WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME SATURDAY, JULY 22, 2017. WE WERE ON I-10 APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR EAST OF PHOENIX IN THE RIGHT LANE WITH THE CRUSE SET AT THE 75MPH SPEED LIMIT. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF US FOR AT LEAST A MILE. ALL THE SUDDEN, WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER, NEARLY ALL THE VEHICLE SYSTEM LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED AT AN EMERGENCY RATE DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 40MPH IN ABOUT 2 SECONDS. I IMMEDIATELY HIT 'CANCEL' ON THE CRUISE AND STEPPED ON THE GAS, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SLOW QUICKLY. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THE 18 WHEEL TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND US MAKE AN EMERGENCY SWERVE TO THE LEFT AND MISSED HITTING US BY INCHES. WE WERE NEARLY INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN FATAL. ALL THIS TOOK PLACE IN ABOUT A 5-10 SECOND TIMEFRAME. AFTER STOPPING ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD I MADE NOTE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHOWING A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM, AN AWD PROBLEM AND I THINK JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER ISSUE LIGHT WAS LIT UP. I TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO ANY HIGHER THAN 3RD GEAR AND THE DASH KEPT INDICATING A TRANSMISSION AND AWD PROBLEM. I PULLED OVER AGAIN AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON. AT THAT POINT THE ONLY INDICATOR LIGHT THAT LIT UP WAS THE EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM (SEE ATTACHED PICTURE). I REENTERED THE INTERSTATE AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN. WE STOPPED AT THE NEXT GAS STATION AND FILLED THE GAS TANK AND UPON RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE EMISSION LIGHT WAS STILL ON. WE CAREFULLY DROVE HOME AT 65'70MPH. THE FOLLOWING DAY (SUNDAY), THE EMISSION LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON.

ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, OUR 2016 HONDA PILOT ELITE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE WE WERE DRIVING - TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ONCE IN BUSY TRAFFIC. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, POWER STEERING, ETC. ALL STOP WORKING AND THE CAR DISPLAYS EVERY ERROR YOU CAN IMAGINE. I HAVE POSTED A VIDEO HERE: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=BTEBMYWY-IS THIS IS VERY SCARY BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO GET THE CAR WORKING AGAIN - LUCKILY, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, WE CALLED HONDA EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WE HAD A TOW ON THE WAY WHEN WE TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW AND THAT CLEARED THE ERRORS. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE USED THE SAME TRICK TO GET THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK - VERY SCARY! I HAVE FOUND OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE SO IT'S CLEAR THAT THERE'S SOME KIND OF COMPUTER OR ELECTRIC PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL - IT'S JUST NOT OBVIOUS WHAT TRIGGERS IT. WE ARE GOING TO TRY TO TRADE IN OUR CAR FOR A DIFFERENT MODEL BECAUSE HONDA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY HELP IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES - I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR SERVICE ON THIS.

COMING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION IT HAS SURGED 4 TIMES TAKING ME OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION EVERY TIME, WITH FOOT OFF GAS AN ON BREAK I CAN NOT STOP IT. I RECENTLY HAVE BEEN USING THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP IT. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. I TOOK IT TO DEALER 2X. AMERICAN HONDA IS LOOKING INTO IT AND ALWAYS ASK IT WRECKED IT. SEVERAL OTHERS HAD SAME ISSUE. AN SOFTWARE UPDATE DID NOT RESOLVE ISSUE. CAN OUR GOVERNMENT HELP?

ON NOVEMBER 10, 2015, AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30PM, MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING ON NORTH I-75 IN SOUTHWEST OHIO. BESIDES OURSELVES, WE HAD OUR TWO YOUNG GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR. THE CAR'S COMPUTER STARTED DISPLAYING A CHANGING SERIES OF WARNINGS GENERALLY INDICATING VARIOUS SYSTEM FAILURES. THE CAR BASICALLY STARTED TO SHUT DOWN. SINCE WE WERE IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE, MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER. IF WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING IN THE MIDDLE OR LEFT LANE OF TRAFFIC, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN LITTLE IF ANY CHANCE OF MOVING OVER TO THE CURB. THE CAR, WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT, WOULD HAVE SHUT DOWN LEAVING US IN THE PATH OF VERY FAST MOVING CARS AND TRUCKS. THE ONLY OUTCOME WAS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY HIGH-SPEED REAR END COLLISION. WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO OUR HONDA DEALER APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AWAY. ON NOVEMBER 27, THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30PM. THIS TIME WE WERE 400 MILES FROM HOME TRAVELING EAST ON HIGHWAY 11-E, BETWEEN GREENEVILLE AND JOHNSON CITY, TENNESSEE. I CAUGHT THE FAILURE EARLY ENOUGH BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR TO A PARKING LOT OF AN OUT-OF-BUSINESS STORE. THIS TIME INSTEAD OF TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, WE HAD TWO ELDERLY GREAT GRANDPARENTS. THE DEALER THAT HANDLED THE FIRST INCIDENT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE SECOND DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A FUEL PUMP RELAY NOT PROPERLY CONNECTED. THIS RELAY REQUIRES A SPECIAL TOOL TO INSTALL IT. SEE ATTACHED LETTER WITH ATTACHMENTS FOR ALL DETAILS INCLUDING SERVICE INVOICES.
