Driving to work on the freeway, all of a sudden acceleration stopped. Pulled over as warning lights came on due to transmission. Additionally, the check engine light appears randomly due to emission and also the “AWD” light comes on. Within a few days or even weeks it turns off. This has been on and off since we purchased the vehicle from CarMax.
[XXX] an Error Code "Emissions System Problem" came up. We brought to personal mechanic error code P0430 came up when they attached the code reader to the underside of the dashboard. Our mechanic told us we had to bring to Honda. Brought to Millenium Honda in NY, no code was in "system", they told us about recalls and fixed the recalls. We took the car on vacation and the light came on again while driving from NY to SC. Brought to Honda dealership to have looked at, code was off. My Honda Pilot 2018 is a modified vehicle with wheelchair ramp. It is in the recall list for Honda. Recall: swelling of fuel pump motor impeller, fuel pump may seize/stop working. Defective impeller may cause fuel pump inoperative, which could prevent engine from functioning. May cause a loss of motive power/stall while driving, increasing risk of crash or injury creating a safety hazard. -Replace the fuel pump motor. I contact the Honda dealer in San Jose, CA, but they were unable to perform Fuel Pump replacement due vehicle being modified. Tell me to find a dealer that specialize in accessible vehicle to removed cover on floor to access fuel pump then bring fuel pump to Honda for them to replace. DMV requires to perform recall to renew vehicle registration. I do not know which dealer I need to perform this recall.
The car is Less than 80,000 miles and all 6 fuel injectors are faulty and need replacing. As well as the fuel pump. Other Hondas have been recalled for the same issue but this make and model has not.
when honda service perfomed the recall repair on 12/12/2024. We notice that there is something wrong with the vehicle and we immediately report to Honda service and return the vehicle the following day for further diagnosis but the Honda service failed to resolved the issue until now. We spend out of pocket payment for their recommended repair @ parts replacement . With hopefull promises to resolved the issue but this resulted to more repairs and no guarantee in resolving the issue. And this delay of resolving the issue causing much more concern on our safety onto what will happened as this issue was not resolved
I did mentioned this recall when I got my car I am having issues with acceleration, fuel pump . Car takes a bit long to take offline
The car unexpectedly sent out emissions failure systems warning Effecting the ability to accelerate without a pause in a forward movement. I had my mechanic diagnose the warning lights which indicate a connector rod issue. This diagnosis aligns with all of the symptoms. My mechanic warned me the engine could stop at any time. We will have the repair done this month. Honda put out a recall and stop production for this issue in March of 2024 but my car does not show up in the recall when I inquired to Honda about the issues I was experiencing. They basically said there is nothing for me to do.
Unfortunately, due to the extended delay in this repair, my vehicle has experienced significant mechanical problems, which I believe are directly related to the faulty fuel pump.Fuel Injector Contamination, Catalytic Converter Stress, Transmission Performance Issues
The "start/stop" function has always been an issue and also the response to acceleration. Luckily the start/stop failed at the mailbox in front of our home. The car shut off just like at a light but instead of picking back up upon acceleration, it completely died. We have had it shutter and slowly pick up in an intersection before but we have learned to really over exert the acceleration to complensate. We have had the fuel pump recalled but i dont think it fixed our problem. Luckily nobody has been hurt yet, but this is my wife and eight year old daugthers car. We have had multiple warning lamps "fixed" in the past, but there are currently no indicators on the dash.
Auto restart failed. Vehicle failed to move forward at a red light. Dash instructed to place vehicle on park then press the engine start-stop button hence restarting in the middle of the road presenting a safety hazard, cars behind me almost tail ending mine. People were honking and I couldn’t move fast enough. Why is the Honda dealer saying they will charge $222 to inspect to see if it’s a starter issue? Just fix the problem. I already had the system reset due to recall. This is a prevalent problem, shouldn’t it be inclusive to a recall. Also putting the customers at risk knowing its an issue is a huge problem. Please advise and help resolve this safety issue.
EVAP Error Code for the capless gas cap error. you have to super careful when filling your car up with gas. Honda needs to fix this defective capless gas tank system. It is too fragile and requires an immense amount of work to repair for a regular old Joe.
I have had a recall that the dealer has renegged on helping me with. About a couple of years ago we scheduled appointments, we missed work, showed up at the appointments for our two cars, only to be told that the parts are on back order. We keep getting the same response over and over. The last time I called a couple of weeks ago, the service department hung up on me. I called back and asked to have the Service Manager call me. He did not return my call. I have left message for the general manager, and he has NOT returned my calls. I need my recall remedied. My vehicle sometimes hesitates to start and has acceleration issues.
My transmission failed although it was scanned a few weeks earlier indicating no issues with the transmission. I was lucky that the car failed once I stopped and wouldn't shift back into gear however it could have failed while driving. The car was driving fine and was slightly slow to engage, but I believe that was due to the fuel pump recall, which I could not have fixed because of a shortage of parts. My concern is that the transmission would have failed during my trip while driving over the mountains. It would have been really dangerous. There appear to be problems with the transmission in the 2018 Honda Pilots.
This recall for the fuel pump has been outstanding for a year. The dealership insists parts are still not available. When will this be resolved?
My car hesitates during acceleration, I received the recall for the fuel pump in February, called the dealer, they say they do not have parts, I called again in early November, and they say the same thing. I am afraid the pump isa going to go out when we are driving in Traffic, so I do not trust the vehicle. I can take the car to any repair shop and they will replace it in a day. Why can't the dealer replace it? They are slow-walking this recall while we take the risk. What can I do?
I received a recall notice from Honda regarding the Safety Recall of the fuel pump module in May 2024. My local dealer just informed me that they have no idea when they will receive the replacement modules and they are receiving about two units per month at random intervals. If this is indeed a safety recall, I believe Honda should be making these units available for existing customers ahead of producing units for new, unsold vehicles. Thank you.
THE VEHICLE WHEN IN MOTION SUDDENLY TURNS OFF BY ITSELF PUTING ME AND OTHER DRIVERS AROUND IN DANGER. THEN, WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING FEELS LIKE LOOSING CONTROL. AND I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC TO CHECK ON IT AND HE DETECTED A STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM AND THERE'S NO WARNING LIGHTS. ALSO, MY CAR FEELS LIKE THE GASOLINE DOESN'T FLOW PROPERLY. CAR LOOSES SPEED AND START SHAKING WHEN TRYING TO PUMP GAS WITH PEDALS. MY CAR HAS ONLY 100,000 MILES AND THIS CAR HAS GIVING ME PROBLEMS FROM THE BEGINNING. THE VISORS WERE SO HARD TO MOVE UP OR DOWN UNTIL THE DRIVER SIDE IS FULLU BROKEN AND TOO EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. HONDAS ARE NOT NUMBER ONE CARS LIKE THEY USE TO BE.
I've brought the car to the Honda Dealer located at 2400 N State Rd 7 Hollywood FL 33021 for over a year I have complained that the car jumps and that there is a few recalls on my vehicle. I was told that the part isn't available and they can't fix it but did not offer any remedies to this issue. The car will shut off on me while I'm driving and it's very dangerous. I've mentioned this to them many times but they only try to convince me to buy another car and get me to trade in my car and pay a deposit.
NHTSA Recall Number23V-858 Recall issued December 18, 2023. I have been on the waiting list to complete the repair at Yonkers Honda in Yonkers, NY, since May. I spoke to Yonkers Honda today, October 9, 2024, and Honda still has not provided replacement parts to dealers to complete the recall work, with no ETA.
I have attempted several times to schedule the Honda Pilot for the recall item to be replaced since May 2024. The Pacific Honda Service Center states they do not have the part to replace the fuel pump. I called again last week, and they said I can pay $179 to have the vehicle inspected and if the fuel pump is faulty then they will order the part. This is unacceptable.
Honda informed me of the recall of my vehicle back in January 2024. I have tried to attempt to get this fixed at my local dealership. I was told they did not have parts and expected them in April. To date, I have not heard anything. I just took my vehicle in for service and was told they had no update as to when parts would become available for this recall. This recall happened because of the dangers that the faulty fuel pump presents to consumers and I'm not seeing enough to be done by Honda to rectify this in a reasonable timeframe. What happens if something happens to my vehicle or my safety as a result of Honda being unable to fix this defect?
My 2018 Honda Pilot is part of a Safety Recall Notice per American Honda Motor Co. Inc. and is in regards to a defective fuel pump. Issues include engine not starting/stalling and check engine light illuminating. Over the past 3 years I have experienced the following symptoms with my 2018 Honda Pilot: 1.) The engine wouldn't start on several occasions 2.) My wife noted she was driving in parking lot when engine stalled 3.) Dash illuminates "EMISSIONS SYSTEMS PROBLEM/ CHECK ENGINE" On March 11, 2024 I took my vehicle to Honda of Pasadena and spoke to Svc Advisor Eddie and told him I am experiencing all of the above and is this covered under the safety recall? He stated he will have the Svc Tech inspect and let me know. Shortly thereafter I was told by Eddie that my issues are not related to said safety recall and charged me $720.45 in un-necessary repairs (none of which included replacing the faulty fuel pump). In response I filed a claim with Kassandra @ American Honda Motor Co., Inc (CASE# [XXX]), who reached out to dealer and ultimately denied my claim and noted issues are not related the Safety Recall. To date I have filed a BAR complaint which is pending and and I am currently driving said defective vehicle which is experiencing all the above safety issues: 1.) engine not starting and/or stalling 2.) "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM/ CHECK ENGINE" light illuminates INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Recall has been in effect since December 2023. Still no parts for repair. Vehicle hesitating. Took in to see if possibly due to fuel pump issue. Dealership states no. Suggested transmission change and indicated that test drive showed improvement. Did not happen. Not sure if the issue is related to recall but recall is taking way too long.
my car is 2018 with 54k mile .now the car has check engine light on . the code is P0430 . this code relate with fuel pump recall . i went to Honda dealer at Fremont but they said . they need to back order part . but my car now has a problem could not pass smog . please could you help to us how to do . Thank you so much .
I have been waiting since March for the fuel pump recall replacement and am now experiencing transmission issues. Vehicle lurching repeatedly and all light indicators came on. Honda is recommending replacement of cam shaft, thrust cover, and position sensor but still has yet to replace fuel pump recall. Vehicle only has 68k miles on it and has all required maintenance completed at dealer.
This is an ongoing issue that I am having with my vehicle that I believe is related to the Fuel Pump Recall. While driving down the road my vehicle will suddenly hesitate then re-engage causing severe hesitation then acceleration. This happens randomly and without warning. I called my local Honda dealer to explain that I need to bring my vehicle in for the recall, and they told me there is nothing they can do until possibly September 2024. It was then further explained that this issue if and when it is fixed would not be free of charge. I am having a hard time understanding why a recall was issued if the manufacturer has not intention of fixing this issue. It explains in the recall how it can be dangerous to drive the vehicle if issues are being experienced, so not sure what my options are at this point. The manufacturer needs to be held accountable for this and not me.
Honda has sent me two notices that the fuel pump needs to be replaced on some vehicles. The second notice said to call a dealer and schedule an appointment if your vehicle is having symptoms. My vehicle is having symptoms with scheduled an appointment with West Her Honda in Lockport NY. The dealer said I would need to pay a diagnostic fee of $180.00 at this appointment or wait until the fall, in October. I was told Honda will get back to me when to bring it in. So, my wife must drive this unsafe vehicle for five months unless I pay this fee. I asked the dealer if the test wasn't positive for a bad fuel pump what happens next. The girl I talked with at the dealership didn't have an answer.
Recall needs addressed. Car is throwing codes and serging going down the road.
Intermittent sluggish performance No risk yet Dealer confirms fuel pump problem No Warning lights Dealer refuses to provide information or an estimate date to make required repair!!!!
We continue to experience stalling while driving our Honda Pilot exactly as described in the Recall. We took our vehicle to Honda, but because they were unable to duplicate our problem and this problem does not generate an error code, they sent us home without any repair. Honda has said they have limited parts to make the replacement, so they are holding parts at their HQ and not allocating any to dealers. So, we, like most other Honda Pilot owners, continue to have to drive vehicles that may be unsafe. When driving in traffic, our vehicle has lost power for several seconds, which can be dangerous if we are in a passing mode or needing power to maneuver safely. We ask the Traffic Safety Administration to engage with Honda to accelerate their processes to effect required repairs before we or others are injured. Thank you.
My 2018 Honda Pilot has a fuel injector recall. Per Honda, "Safety Consequence: An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." - My car is hesitating with acceleration at low (20-25mph) along with (45-55mph). The RPMs do not stay steady and the car is hesitating to shift into gear. - I called Westbrook Honda, Westbrook, CT on [XXX] to inquire and was told I would know if the car was part of the recall because it will stall. - Unsatisfied, I took my car to Brandfon Honda, Branford, CT for diagnosis on [XXX] and was told by service that if it's an issue they will prioritize it since the part will not be available until Fall 2024. Brandfon Honda is advising 4 other recommendations to see if it will fix the problem versus addressing the fuel injector recall which points to what is the issue with the car (as advised by my independent auto shop) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am experiencing a delay in acceleration. This can occur when I am completely stopped and press the gas, there is a delay (3-5 seconds) and then the car jerks forward and accelerates quickly. Or, when I've slowed down to almost a stop, begin a turn, step on the gas and it won't accelerate for a couple of seconds, almost causing an accident on several occasions. This occurs about once every 10-15 times I drive the vehicle. It's unpredictable.
Honda Of Rockwall Texas says this remedy is not available yet. But it clearly is.
I have been to two Honda dealerships the last two months. Manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.
for months Honda dealer has not yet resolved the two recalls indicating parts and instructions from Honda are not availalbe. Thus, the dealer is unable to resolve the recalls. This has been going on for months and is unacceptable. When the NHTSA issues a recall, why can't consumers get their recalls fixed ?
The car since purchased was juddering between rpms, eventually the emissions and check engine light came on and prompted us to take to dealership. The dealership said this was part of a recall and both problems would be fixed at no cost and we would get an extended warranty on the parts and labor. That sounds great. The problem though is the pilot has been in the shop since January 29th! We have been given 4 different Eta's of when the part would come in and they all keep passing by! No end in sight.
My Honda Pilot started making a rattling noise and at first I thought it was a shield coming loose. I checked for any loose shields but could not find one. After about a week the noise became increasingly louder and seem to increase with acceleration. So I took it into the dealership and they said that it was the fuel pump and there was a recall on them but no parts available. I took the car home and parked it for fear it would stall on the road and cause a wreck. After a couple of weeks and no part, I called Honda and asked them if I could get a part since my car was not drivable. They wouldn't give me a direct answer, but after a week a part came in for the recall. When the dealership replaced the recall part they said that the real problem was the high pressure fuel pump and it could of given me the same problem as the recall part. After checking NHTSA, I seen where similar Honda models with the same engine were having the same problem. It seems to me that the high pressure pump should be the one recalled.
incident March 5th, 2023 speed approx. 30 M/hr when my MID lit up "PUT IN PARK" my Pilot slowed down on his own gas and brake pedal were frozen I heard some scraping and crunching noises and steering wheel was hard to move and engine shut off. That afternoon (Sunday) I made an appointment with Arrowhead Honda, 8380 W. Bell Rd., Peoria, AZ 85382 to bring the car in. AAA towed the car to the Honda Dealer. After 45 Min. Techn. Divac Aodisho advised me they could not find anything. And I drove my vehicle home. This sounds familiar with the recall I found from NHTSA today. I made an appointment to have the fuel pump impeller checked on 01/19/24 but just now I was called and told the parts will not be available until March 2024 appointment is cancelled. So now I'm driving a vehicle that is not 100%. A 2nd similar problem happened [XXX] and a Diagnosis was preformed on my Pilot for $ 160.00 with again no problem found. Would you drive a car that is not 100% ? I don't have a choice and I was told by the Techn. Mr. Grant today "well you have been driving it for 5 Years" that is not very comforting. Dear Sir/Madam, My Vehicle stalls and stutters suddenly when driving. It does not accelerate the way it should. Engine light is on. I called Honda Customer Service and even though it says "Fuel Pump recall" on my vehicle they say they don't know when parts are going to be available. Their responses were very evasive. They said it was a placeholder and were not willing to help me. They don't have any concrete responses to my questions. I asked them when will the fuel pump parts be available for dealers to fix the recall and they asked me to check back in February. I got a letter in December stating that after Jan 2nd they will help with this issue. Now they are saying Feb. My vehicle maybe unsafe to drive and if the engine seizes or is ruined because of the delay in fixing this recall, I would be at a total loss. Please help me. Thanks so much! I noticed when driving between 10-30 miles per hour the pilot will stall in between 2 rpm and 3 rpm jumping up and back down, shortly after I received an emission problem alert and the car started driving very strange pulling forward then losing power. Noticed that this is a common problem in Pilots and it is very concerning.
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or stuck off. This is one of hundreds of Honda's between the years 2016-2019 that have this same issue, which renders the car undriveable as the torque converter cannot transfer fluid to the transmission from the engine. Honda is aware of this issue, though because torque converters are on "back order" they have not made any attempts to rectify this. Rather, they are waiting for individuals cars to break down and then providing with repairs. Not only is this dangerous, it's unethical.
Fuel pump issues. The 2019 Honda pilot fuel pump has been recalled. The 2018 has same issue. I should not be having this type of problem on such a new vehicle .
My wife was pulling into the dentist parking lot, made a slow right hand turn to a parking space when the vehicle suddenly and violently accelerated. Depressing and pumping brake had no effect and the car slammed into a tree destroying the right front of the vehicle. She assured me that she did not depress the accelerator. She is a very safe driver, never received a ticket nor involved in an accident. Research into similar accidents showed multiple cases where this occurred with Honda Pilot vehicles.
Good afternoon, I would like to bring an issue to your attention and file a complaint on Honda Motor Company. Last week, I scheduled an appointment in the Service Department at Russell and Smith Honda to diagnose my 2018 Honda Pilot. My vehicle jerks when driving at a low speed. Russell and Smith diagnosis was a transmission oil flush and a system update with "recommendations to replace the battery and spark plugs" ; total charges to fix the problem was roughly $365 additional to the $110 that I paid for the diagnosis. That same day, I picked up my vehicle from Russell and Smith Honda and refused to pay because its a 2018 truck that I shouldn't be dealing with a transmission problem. As I was driving the truck back home, it started to turn off automatically and an engine light alert would turn on. The truck would start working after turning it back on. Two days after, I took it back to Russell and Smith Honda and advised them of the truck shutting down and I was notified to pay another $100 for a diagnosis which I refused to pay since it was recently diagnosed two days ago. This is putting my life at risk on the streets. The employee who assisted me went inside to ask a mechanic on duty and came back to notify me that I do need to pay for another diagnosis to determine whats wrong. I refused to pay and left the dealership. I called Honda Motor Company on 4/10/23 to advise them of the problem and they created a case #13752705 to further investigate and I advised them if not I will report it to NHTSA. Honda Motor Company requested a copy of the diagnosis and when I called them for an update, the case worker assigned to my case Samir stated they agreed to pay for the transmission flush and system update and they have notified Russell and Smith Honda. The next day I called Russell and Smith Honda to advise them that I will drop off the truck according to Honda Motor Company and they said I need to pay for the recommendations listed on the diagnosis first. The engine light appreared with this note on my dashboard, emission system problem. My Pilot is a 2018 with 41K miles. The engine light appeared 2/12/2023. I took it to my local auto mechanic but they couldn't fix the issue without performing a deep diagnostic testing that last 2 to 3 hours long and it would cost more than $500 including the parts to repair it. The mechanic suggested to take my car to the Honda dealer as this is common issue with this vechicle. I'm reading online from owners from vechiclehistory.com with this same issue and the owners all have the same issue. Honda needs to recall these Pilots and repair the issue at Honda's expense.
Extreme vibration from the high pressure fuel line due to premature failure of the high pressure fuel pump. Was told that I need to replace everything going to the high pressure fuel pump when I replace the pump because of the risk of fire. Honda is aware of this issue as they have issued a 16-013 service bulletin and has passed the cost of a design flaw down to the consumer knowing the line could rupture and catch the vehicle on fire. Honda says oops well it's over 60k miles and your past the warranty. The vibration from acceleration is so loud and the fuel line shakes freely back and forth within 3 inch span of movement. It won't let me upload a video. There are 1000s of cars with the issue in the forums and it should be a recall due to the possibility of fuel line rupture.
Unknown. I was using cruise control maintaining approx 60mph. The car in front of me started to slow and I tapped the brake to disengage cruise control. The car lunged forward and the accelerator went towards the floor. I tried to turn the car off and the push button did not respond. As my speed increased I narrowly missed rear ending cars in front of me as I swerved in and out of lanes, with the brake pedal not responding. I drove into the dirt medium of the road on the left and pushed the shift into park and the car eventually slowed to a stop. I was very shook up and sat in this dangerous area until I was calm enough to start the car and see if I could get across the highway to an exit. I tried turning the car off twice before attempting this to see if I could get it to respond. Both times it responded and the light on the dash indicated to put it into Park. I made it across the highway to an exit where I drove around a parking lot for 1/2 hr turning the car on & off to see if it was safe to get it home. I did not touch cruise control again. It was nothing short of a miracle that I didn’t kill anyone on the road or myself.
When stopping at a traffic light the engine auto stop/start engages, but then the engine will not power back on when I release the brake. I have to completely restart the engine, causing a safety concern with other vehicles behind me. This has been ongoing for the last 6 months or so, and it seems to be getting worse. Sometimes the car will turn off mid intersection and we will be stuck there for 10-30 seconds while I try to get the car back on and going again. It is a very dangerous hazard and Honda denies there being an issue. After reading online it seems that many people are having a similar problem.
Today my 2018 Pilot EX-L suddenly started displaying these warnings: - Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) Problem - Hill Start Assist Problem - Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem - Power Steering System (EPS) Problem Looking at Honda Pilot Forums, it seems like it is a very common problem and has to do with Fuel Injectors as described by: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10187289-0001.pdf Many people have complained of this issue, here is one such blog of many many more: https://www.piloteers.org/threads/multiple-warning-lights.127665/ This should be a recall and not just an extension of warranty which shifts the burden of proof to the consumer. Please help Honda honor this warranty for my 4 year old pilot with only 47,463 miles on it.
My 2018 Pilot has started to stall when the auto start-stop is engaged. It has happened 3 times at busy intersections creating a dangerous situation. It doesn't look like this issue has been recalled, but I have seen hundreds of posts regarding the same issue.
The auto off/on is dangerous. Multiple time the car does not turn back on and everything turns off. A few times the car started to roll backwards, when on a hill and I took my foot of the break. The car didn't start, I had to reapply the break and push the start button again.
While driving, the transmission would not gear up to any higher gears and could only drive 40mph with 3000+ RPMS. The MIL lights showed "Check Engine," "Emissions System Problem," "Transmission System Problem," and "Blind Spot Info System Problem," all at once. When pressing the "P" button for Park, it did not always want to engage in Park. The engine would sometime stutter on acceleration. The "P" and "D" for Park and Driver on the MIL would constantly blink. This action placed the driver and occupants at risk of injury because of the stutter and slow speeds on the highway. Also, when the "Park" button did not engage, the car was at risk of rolling into person or property. Currently, service has been scheduled for the dealership to diagnose the issue. There were no warning signs prior to all of these warning lights showing up all at once.
After the car was stoped at a red light with the auto-idle feature on, the car stalled out when I pressed the gas petal to drive. The radio and A/C shut off and a PARK warning displayed. It took several attempts to turn the car back on. After the car started it took several minutes for the radio to start working again. None of the touch buttons for radio, phone or navigation would respond. This happened when I was at a light after getting off the highway. It almost caused a car accident with the drivers around me who were coming off the highway. Since this happened, every time I turn on the car, the radio stations can not be found. I have to turn the radio off/on once or twice for the car to find the stations. Frequently, when I go from stop to drive at lights or stop signs, the radio and AC will turn off for a second. This seems to only happen when the auto idle feature is on. The car transmission is also having lurching when going from 1st to 2nd gear.
Hello, below are answers to suggested questions to help describe what happened. -What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Unknown but a constant "chirping" sound is heard from the car engine area when car engine is on or "running similar to descriptions at link https://www.piloteers.org/threads/2018-honda-pilot-chirping-noise-audio-file.160027/ -How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Unknown. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Negative -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Few weeks or month after purchase in Sept 2018, dealer serviced the car and the sound disappeared but reappeared recently (approximately 3 years later). -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No symptoms. First appearance mentioned in above answer.
The Auto Engine Idle feature does not work properly. When the car is at a light, the engine idle is activated and the car is put into a slumber mode, when the brake is depressed. On occasion, when it is time to go, the car then turns off when the gas is depressed. This is extremely dangerous as then you are stuck at an active intersection and need to turn the car back on. I've discovered a wealth of other owners with this issue here. My issue is consistent with their reports. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/pilot/car-stall-problems.php In my research, the Honda dealers are not doing anything to fix it, and there has been no thoughtful feedback from the company. I will be taking this to our dealer as well, but am not hopeful given that it appears to be a fundamental design / software issue, not repairable in the fields. I literally have found no evidence that it is fixable without maybe a software upgrade.
While stopped at a stop light/sign the engine stalls, dies, shifts to neutral (push button shift) leaving me disabled in the middle of the road. This issue has also occurred while slowing to take a sharp corner. The engine died at approximately 25 mph while slowing for the corner. I had taken it to the dealership and they claimed they could not reproduce the problem. I took the vehicle home, then later that day I drove it approximately 17 miles to a racetrack that I work at part time. At 12:30 am, I was leaving to head home, and while idling in the parking lot, it had died yet again and took several minutes to restart. Once it did restart, I had no throttle response in park, neutral or in drive. I shut the vehicle off and restarted it with no other issues for the 17 mile trip back home. The dealership suggested that I take picture/video when it happens, which poses another safety concern to do that in the event I am driving when this event occurs. This is a severe safety concern as there is the potential for the engine to die/stall during a hard braking event in which I could lose power brakes. Only the dealership has inspected the vehicle, and the only lights that have been illuminated on the dash was the battery light and the caution light. This issue has been going on for approximately a month and a half. After completing some research, I have noticed there is a large collection of this or very similar complaints.
