Honda had issued a recall on the MOST coax cable in 2023 or 2024. As I had issues with mine, and my vehicle was part of the recall, I had it repaired in 2024. For the last 3 months, the issue has started again. When the MOST network fails, the entire infotainment system goes offline. This includes the reverse camera. I have contacted Honda, and they stated they will not correct ongoing issues with the system.

Dec 12, 2025

The rear camera display is distorted and shows a huge amount of colors making it impossible to view any objects behind the car and causing a safety hazard that could result in backing over a child or other item

Nov 25, 2025

While driving and sometimes even when in reverse the stereo screen blacks out and a popping sound comes from the speakers. Sometimes the screen resets after a few minutes, and other times it won’t come back on until the car is shut off and restarted.

Nov 5, 2025

The audio system has loud crackling and popping noise that happens intermittently, causing the audio to stop working. Honda has issued a recall for 2020 models, noting that the noise is caused by loose or damaged connectors in the MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) network, which is part of the infotainment system and also powers the backup camera. The official recall remedy involves replacing the wiring harness to fix this issue, though some owners have reported the problem persists after repeated attempts at correction. The noise is very loud and distracting while driving. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms were noticed.

The Auto Idle Stop feature on my 2019 Honda Pilot is a critical safety defect. The engine repeatedly fails to restart automatically after the Idle Stop engages at a complete stop, resulting in the vehicle stalling in traffic. This is a major crash risk, not a minor inconvenience. I have experienced this dangerous failure multiple times while waiting to make a left turn in busy intersections. When I release the brake to proceed, the engine remains stalled, leaving my vehicle immobilized directly in the path of oncoming traffic and creating a high risk of a side-impact or rear-end collision. On one occasion, the engine stalled as I was attempting to clear a red light, leaving the Pilot stationary and exposed. I manually disable this feature every time I drive because of the known failure risk, and the stall only occurs when I occasionally forget this essential step. Replacing the battery, as recommended by the dealership, did not resolve the high rate of failure. Honda's existing fixes are inadequate, and this defect puts vehicle occupants and other drivers at serious risk of injury or death.

Sep 23, 2025

My 2019 Honda pilot randomly started showing all these errors at once: LKAS, Collision Mitigation Problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto highbeam problem, adaptive cruise control problem. After speaking with the Honda dealership, they said this is a chronic problem with 2018 to new Honda vehicles. He stated he's unsure why there is not a recall for this yet. They stated that the issue is the front dash camera, which will need replacement. Replacement is around $2,000.

2019 Honda Touring: driving down the highway the windshield would crackle ( Electricity) then we started experiencing transmission delays in shifting and the transmission sounded rough and it was delayed. when the car was put in park the whole dashboard lit up with emissions system problem, Stop driving when safe. transmission problem, Blind spot info system problem. after this showed up the car was not able to move at all. it would not move to gear. the problem was not reproduced at the Honda dealer. They recommend replacing the transmission. I had it towed to another shop where they tell me all codes that pertain this the initial issues stated and refer back to dealer to reset the tmc system failure and to reset the electrical system. Honda refuses to do work as they want to replace the entire transmission

Sep 22, 2025

Vehicle adaptive cruise control and emergency braking completely stopped working.

Sep 20, 2025

While operating I was on Highway driving my car the driver seat was set up according to my height, when I use the break to slow down for the heavy traffic during the rush hour wasn't that fast at all I believe my car was at 30 in mph around somehow my car seat dropped too low and I was afraid that I can barley seen in the front. Some how I manage to get home but not sure if there is blown fuses, faulty switches, or loose wiring connectors under the seat or electrical seat problems. This Vehicle is from year 2019 when we purchased. I haven't call the Honda for service yet, cause it's weekend now. I will call on following Monday 22. for Check up.

infotainment screen freezing or blacking out. I have audio file

Sep 1, 2025

When driving long distances (10+ miles), the entertainment system suddenly goes black and shows an error message that says “Network Communication Lost. MOST Net Off.” This includes the CarPlay/navigation system, backup camera, etc. which causes distractions, navigation challenges, and impacts safety when happening mid-drive. It takes between 30 seconds and 3 minutes to re-boot. It typically happens multiple times during long drives (approximately every 5-10 minutes) which becomes very dangerous as dealing with this issue shifts attention away from driving.

On [XXX] a code p0430 appeared on the dash board screen. The car was making a strange noise coming from the engine. I took the car to Integrity Auto Repair shop in McAllen, Texas, they checked the code and said that it was the catalytic converters that were going bad. So I requested an estimate, since their estimate was too high, I contracted a private mechanic to replace the catalytic converters (2), and another part connected to the system. Also, we replaced the oxygen sensors and the noise did not go away. Then, on August 25th, 2025 I decided to take my Honda pilot to the dealer Honda in Pharr, Texas for a check up and they told me that the reason the car was making so much noise and had so much reduced engine power was because the high pressure fuel pump was failing. So, I asked the service representative: If the problem is the high pressure fuel pump, why the dash board code p0430 showed up? Ana, was the representative's name; she replied that the front dash camera is malfunctioning and needs to also be replaced. I asked her...my car just has 76,000 miles, i paid so much money for this car and you are telling me that the dash camera and the high fuel pressure pump are not good? And, I spent almost 4,000.00 Dollars replacing the wrong parts because your dash board gave me the wrong code? Why is this happening? I am driving my car with my two little daughters in the car, taking them to school and back and hearing the car engine noise and wondering when is it going to leave me on the road? Then I asked her; this looks like that is a problem from the manufacturer and Honda should be responsible for the repair. Imagine the dash board giving me the wrong warning code? And the car has only 76,000 miles. Then I go and spend so much money for nothing? This is not normal. I feel that Honda is responsible for the car failures. Thank you INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Stopped at an intersection at approximately 2:40pm on August 28, 2025. The auto -stop/start stopped the engine and it would not restart.

Aug 17, 2025

The rear camera has suddenly changed to a rainbow effect and is very difficult to distinguish details related to be safe view it is designed to display. There was a recall related to the cable connection of the rear camera which is not related to this new color change issue. Honda dealership only offers to replace camera not under a warranty.

Aug 6, 2025

Consistent electrical issues manifested with infotainment system losing connectivity including FM radio, Bluetooth, etc during hot days only. Thia implies increase risk of fire due ti electrical system overheat. It appears many complaints have been made related to the electrical system on Honda pilot year 2019.

Jul 23, 2025

My 2019 Hoda Pilot Touring often suddenly changed to N (Neutral), not moving when I release the brake pedal on the freeway when traffic is slow (stop and go) or when at the stop at the intersession. I had to hit (shift) to D (Drive) or sometimes it was getting worse, I had to hit Restart button to resume driving. Many times, it was a nervous moment when the cars from behind were too close and unexpecting my car was stop. It's hard to convince the car dealer it is a real problem when I brought the car for other recall problems. They only worked on the other recalls and verbally advised just to see if the fixes on the recall would fix the problem I experienced since there is no recall related the problem I described.

Jul 22, 2025

My 2019 Honda Pilot backup camera is not functioning properly. It has a green and sometimes purple screen and I cannot see objects when backing up. This creates a very dangerous situation. I brought this vehicle to Lia Honda in Enfield, CT for another recall. I informed them of the problem with the backup camera and was told it isn't part of the recall. I would have to bring the car back at another time for evaluation and would be charged their hourly fee. I was a loyal Honda employee in Windsor Locks, CT for almost 25 years. I retired in 2009. I know my vehicle should be considered in the recall and I would like it taken care of before an accident happens.

Jul 13, 2025

I was driving home at around midnight on the interstate, when my radio stopped working and digital dash screen just turned off. The radio screen said something like network communication lost (I was going 75 so I couldn’t completely read what it said), and the dash where my tachometer and speed usually are, was off; the only information about the car I had was gas level and general engine temperature, so physical gauges or the fuel economy indicator were not affected. All headlights, climate, and engine or cruise control were not affected. It rebooted after about 10 seconds, as if the car was just started up, and everything was back to normal. I was coming from a work event, so I had a coworker with me and he noticed this was occurring, unsettling to be a passenger and all necessary information about the vehicle on an interstate was gone. The vehicle did have a recall to address crackle noise in the speakers, which was a symptom of the MOST bus failure. But since then, the crackle hasn’t disappeared, the backup camera has failed on occasion, and now this, just once in ~15000 miles, all link through the same MOST bus. Will be taking to the dealer again ASAP to see if they can resolve the issue for good, but it seems unacceptable that an infotainment failure could also affect the dashboard if I am understanding it.

Jul 12, 2025

I have had multiple situations where the auto idle has engaged and the vehicle has died. Most of the time the car restarts by holding down the ignition button, but twice it's required a jump. I have taken this into honda multiple times and they've told me they can't recreate the problem, but it consistently happens to me. The most recent time was at a high speed intersection and almost resulted in a serious collision. The below question asked how many miles on my vehicle. We first noticed this at about 25000 miles, but most recently occurred today at 80000 miles.

Jul 10, 2025

I believe this car was subject to the recall where something about the AIS system needed to be fixed. The initial problem was the car would stall out at lights when the AIS system was activated. I went in for the recall and had not experienced the problem since. That’s until the past couple days where the problem is back to occurring when I’m stopped at a light and fully depressed the brake, the car stops idling and fails to restart creating a dangerous condition in traffic. It is stressful, unneeded, and puts my family in danger.

Backup camera is distorted and has purple and green colors throughout the screen. Also the information screen routinely indicates a Tuner failure, followed by popping sounds from the radio. Took vehicle to Honda dealer who advised that many 2019 Honda Pilots are coming in with same issue. However, the vehicles with the vehicles with the same first 7 charscters in the VIN were NOT included in the recall for some reason. This oversight by Honda, to exclude these particular Honda Pilots, places an increased safety risk for the owners, as well as an undue financial burden. In reviewing the complaints posted on this site, 2019 Honda Pilot owners have been complaining about these issues for 2-3 years without any resolution from Honda. It is clear that Honda has been aware of this issue for several years. It would be great if the NHTSA would require Honda to do the right thing by acknowledging their oversight (excluding these vehicles from the recall), and have the backup camera and tuners repaired before a serious accident/injury occurs.

2019 honda pilot exL all of sudden multipurpose camera doesn't work. As a result of the camera issue break system sign came on and all safety feature turn off. I didn't have any accident prior to the sign came on. Dealer is asking 1800+tax to replace the camera.

dash instuments goes blacked out , entertainment system goes black in sequence to dash, this has happened multiple times . I cannot tell my speed, gas levels, etc, the LKAS, collision warning, adaptive cruise control , auto emergncy breaking ,lane departure warning failed with lights coming on with various failure warinings, it fails ,then works randomly then fails again. I have taken my vehichle in starting in 2022 for the dash instruments and entertainment going out .The transmission has rough shifting multiple times, i have brought for diagnostic service 4 times on transmission, they cannot find the causes. I have had transmissions serviced and flushed as required.

May 7, 2025

Rear backup camera suddenly showing green and purple distortion making it impossible to use/trust the camera. This issue appears to be a growing trend in 2019 Honda Pilots AFTER Honda completed recall issue on faulty cabling/wires. See this thread: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

May 6, 2025

The idle-stop feature on our 2019 Honda Pilot is faulty. The idle-stop is intended to shut off the engine, or put it into an idling state, at stop lights in order to improve fuel efficiency. However, on a recurring basis (at least once a week, often times several times per week), our Pilot will shut off at a stop light and fail to restart. This at a minimal causes the car to get stuck in traffic or create traffic issues at stoplights, and at worse (in a situation like today), it causes our car to stall out in the middle of a busy intersection which put our family at unnecessary risk.

Apr 16, 2025

Sometimes when I stop in traffic, the idle-stop feature doesn't turn the engine back on. Engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged. This has happened multiple times. I try to remember to disable the idle-stop feature but don't always remember to.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at approximately 5 MPH, the Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assistance, and High Beam headlights Error warning lights were illuminated. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with a faulty sensor in the front camera and the sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

This was my first experience with an electrical/engine/battery issue with this pilot. I was in the midst of driving during a 14 hour road trip. In the middle of my drive I needed to stop for gas. I pulled into a gas station and turned off the pilot to refuel. After refueling I attempted to start my vehicle. After several attempts and the battery/engine not starting, I needed to have my pilot jumped. After the vehicle restarted I had no further issues on my trip. After returning home I had my battery checked and there were no issues with the battery.

Apr 1, 2025

My 2019 Honda Pilot start/stop feature shut down my car in a busy intersection and would not start up again. Dashboard warning lights flickered and no response to trying to start the vehicle. Towed to dealer at my expense and had to replace battery on 04/04/2023 for 2019 car.

Apr 1, 2025

Hello, I have owned my 2019 Pilot for almost 6 years. From day one, I have had ongoing issues including over 12 situations in which my vehicle would not restart at stoplights, 4-way stops or other areas (my driveway, gas station etc.). I have had the vehicle jump started multiple times by my extended warranty company, my husband and neighbor and towed to the dealer. My most recent stall when not even let me turn on my hazards as my vehicle completely died at the stoplight. I have called 911 multiple times to protect me from being rear-ended. I fear for my life driving the vehicle. My kids refuse to also drive the vehicle. Honda does not have any answers for the fix. There are over 1,000 complaints from vehicle owners. Let's do something before someone is rear-ended and killed! Look at my service history! My car is a lemon, and has lost value. I deserve peace of mind driving this vehicle and compensation for this never ending nightmare.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinders #4 and #6, and that the ECM had failed. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. No further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

Rear camera (74810-TG7-A41) view is distorted, shows green, red, purple among others, unable to determine any images. Back over can easily occur as view is useless.Car currently has 26,101 miles, this first started around 22,000 miles.

Mar 9, 2025

The backup camera exhibits image distortion, posing a safety hazard.

Mar 4, 2025

Backup camera shows distorted colors and no longer usable to identify objects in the rear of the vehicle. Additionally all backup sensors no longer activated when objects are behind the vehicle. Since there are massive blind spots behind the vehicle this is an accident waiting to happen. This was observed by dealership and recommended that the camera be replaced at owner expense. Still pending fix due to cost. This appears to be a common problem with 2019 Honda Pilot models.

Feb 21, 2025

At random times, but seemingly becoming a more frequent occurence, when the stop/start system engages & shuts the vehicle down at idle (at a stop light for example), the vehicle will not restart for a period of time afterwards. This has also happened on the highway multiple times in traffic in which the vehicle will not start for a short period of time. This is a big safety issue and I was almost rear-ended a couple of times in those highway cases. When the problem happens, the lighting on the meter (indicator lights) will randomly flash & the clicking sound from the blinker will continuously go on/off during the timeframe of when the vehicle will not restart. I've raised this concern to Honda multiple times with no support coming back from them since they can't re-create the issue.

Feb 13, 2025

I am experiencing two ongoing issues with my vehicle that have not been resolved despite recent recall repairs (fuel pump and hood striker). 1. Acceleration Stutter Issue When accelerating, the car shakes/stutters before finally picking up speed. I initially thought the fuel pump recall repair would fix this, but the problem persists. This affects vehicle performance and safety, especially when merging into traffic or crossing intersections. 2. Electrical / Computer System Malfunctions All Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) malfunction and display error messages onscreen, preventing these systems from functioning. Since both issues persist and could pose safety risks, I am reporting this as a potential defect for further investigation. Since these issues are not detailed for my vehicle, but do seem to be occurring I other models, I don't think it's right for me to have to payout of pocket to fix it when other models with the same issue get covered.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while his wife was at a red light, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was difficult to restart. The battery was drained and became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken an independent mechanic who determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

I got in my vehicle about a month ago to a lot of blinking lights. I immediately took my vehicle to Davenport Honda in Rocky Mount, NC, who stated I had a misfire and it would be over $1000 to fix the problem. Approximately a month later, a few more blinking lights came on. It was the lane departure, automatic high beam and collision lights. I took my vehicle back to the dealership that stated it is an internal failure and now the entire camera will need to be replace quoting me another $1000 job. I currently have a crack in my windshield and cannot get it replace due to this internal failure. I have read several comments about this internal failure leading to believe me this should be a recall. I don't have $4000 to $5000 to put into a vehicle every 2 to 3 months.

Jan 1, 2025

My Honda Pilot has a previous recall for the infotainment system. Recall # 20V439000 or Honda recall # T89. I purchased this vehicle used in June 2024 with the knowledge this recall had been repaired. After driving the vehicle for a short time, the infotainment system started having an issue again. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership 3 more times to get this corrected, but it is still an ongoing issue. This infotainment system recall impacts instrument panel control module software which makes this a safety issue. I am submitting this form to create a formal complaint for lack of repair after multiple attempts on a recall.

Dec 10, 2024

Our Honda had a failure while driving on the highway. The camera behind the windshield apparently failed all at once and this caused all of the safety features to stop functioning and we almost had a wreck trying to get across the busy lanes of traffic because when this camera failed it caused the service brakes light on the dash to come on and stay on as well as the adaptive cruise control, the lane keep assist, the emergency braking, the blind spot warning all to stop functioning immediately without warning. We had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealer and had to pay to have the $1300 camera behind the windshield replaced on a vehicle that’s barely 5 years old. This camera that is so ingrained into all of the safety features that are the main reason we bought this vehicle should not be failing. Honda refused to assist with this repair and they will recall vehicles because a backup camera isn’t clear but offer no help for something that kills every single safety feature of the vehicle? How does that make sense? I find this to be a sad situation that will get someone killed.

Nov 27, 2024

On going issues with 2019 Hondas and their reverse cameras dying after warranty expires. Lots of complaints, not associated to cable recalls. Documented history of color on backup camera going sepia/florescent. Previous complaints to NHTSA made.

Nov 21, 2024

Just started, while driving in high winds: electrical power steering problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, trailer stability assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, emissions system problem. Brake system warning light is also on. I don’t have a towing system installed- so that’s odd to get a warning for trailer stability. I had an oil change @ 101076 miles, on 19 November 2024, and my tires were rotated at that time. This issue repeated itself today, 21 November 2024.

Oct 30, 2024

When car is stopped at light/stop sign, etc, the car automatically shifts into neutral and battery light comes on, car will not shift out of neutral or turn on. Car has to be shut off which involves pushing start button several times before it will shut off. Wait a few seconds and then it will reset and drive. This is a safety issue as cars behind do not realize my car won’t move. This has been a recurring issue with the start/stop function since I bought the car where the car engages the start/stop and the. The car won’t turn on and go when I release the brake. I have gone to the dealership several times. They have replaced the battery and says nothing is wrong and they can’t recreate problem. Previous case #14132776 with Honda on this issue.

Oct 18, 2024

Honda's 100 month batterys are dying well before the 100 month period due to the start-stop systems which already have a recall. Ours began leaving the vehicle stranded in 2022 and it continues today.

Oct 2, 2024

My 2019 Honda Pilot Touring was included in the Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2018-2023 Multi-Model MOST Communication Error. In May 2024, Schomp Honda dealership attempted to fix the recall. In September 2024 my Honda Pilot began experiencing audio and display issues. The display would cut out while driving and I would hear static through the speakers. On September 24, 2024 I took a short drive and the backup camera worked when I reversed out of my garage, but 12 mins later when trying to park, my backup camera video would not display. It stays on a black screen with "Camera System Failure" when in reverse, I tried parking the vehicle, turning the engine off and back on. While I waited for my service appointment at the Schomp Honda Dealership (the same dealership who performed the attempted recall fix) on Oct 2, 2024 the video from the backup camera would intermittently display (approximately 10% of the time I would see video when in reverse). The other 90% of the time, the display shows a black, sometimes flickering green image. I believe the Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2018-2023 Multi-Model MOST Communication Error was not fixed by the service technicians at Schomp Honda Dealership for my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring. I am experiencing the exact issues with 23-047, Safety Recall: 2019-23 Passport/Pilot Install FAKRA Service Cables at MOST Bus Network was supposed to fix. An improperly functioning rearview camera impairs my rearward visibility, potentially increasing the risk of a back-up collision or injury. I cannot see children or people that are shorter than my rear window.

Sep 21, 2024

Screen on backup camera is not clear. It now has purple and green coloring and is impeding the picture on the screen. The dealership thinks it is due to the wiring with the backup camera. When backing up I cannot clearly see if any objects are behind me. This is happening each time I reverse. There were no warning sign that I noticed. I did, however, have problems with the current recall with wiring and the audio almost immediately after buying the new car. Took it into the delearship on many occasions to have fixed, prior to recall. I’ve ready many similar issues happening after the recall is fixed.

Sep 19, 2024

My car has shifted from both park to neutral and drive to neutral on its own three times in the last six weeks. This has occurred when parked and when at a red light. My gear shifters are electric push buttons. This has previously occurred, been reported to NHTSA, and been checked by the dealership. I was told by the dealership that it was a battery issue and paid to replace my three and a half year old battery that tested in good condition. My new battery is about a year old and I am now having the same, very serious issues. This specific model has been recalled multiple times for continuous electrical issues. I called the dealership after the first new incident and was told if they cannot repeat it, they cannot fix it. It is not occurring everyday or seemingly with any pattern so I cannot replicate it for the dealership. In the most recent incident that occurred at the red light, my car stalled and would not shift out of neutral. I had to turn off the car and restart it twice before I could shift into drive and avoid being hit. This also occurred in previous incidences that took place at red lights.

Sep 9, 2024

Several times now when stopped at a red light, my vehicle's idle-stop features turns of the car and fails to restart when taking my foot off the brake. The screen behind the steering wheel says to take the vehicle out of neutral and restart but it is still in drive, the battery light also comes on. I have to put it in park (after putting on my hazards because there are cars behind me), turn off the vehicle and restart it. As far as I know there are no recalls for this as of yet.

Aug 28, 2024

The reverse camera suddenly started displaying distorted colors on approximately 1/3 of the screen. Turning the vehicle on and off has no impact. The previous recall for Fakra service cable replacement had no impact. The vehicle is garaged at home and has not been in high heat or direct sunlight for an excessive amount of time. From an internet search, this seems to be a common issue in 2019 Honda Pilots.

Aug 26, 2024

Overblown colorful backup camera image. Backup camera stopped working properly on 2019 Honda Pilot Elite SUV. Image has very bright red yellow and purple colors (like night vision) and the rear image is no longer legible. This is now a safety hazard as the driver is unable to view people, vehicles, and other obstructions while backing up the SUV. Need Honda to cover the repair and replacement of the backup camera under warranty. This appears to be a widespread issue for 2019 models that Honda dealers are not covering free of charge based on forum threads: [XXX] Please investigate immediately and have Honda cover this as a recall before this becomes a widespread issue affecting thousands of cars with non-functional backup cameras. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Aug 9, 2024

My back up camera has an issue where it is showing a green and purple tint that is distorting the view. It functions every time I put the car in reverse, but I can barely see what is on the screen because of the colors. I almost hit a person because I could not see her in the back up camera. I also have been unable to use it to attach my trailer because the view is so distorted. I have researched it and many other people have experienced this exact same issue with 2019 Pilots. This needs to be a safety recall as the camera is failing and needs to be replaced.

Aug 8, 2024

Operating vehicle on Interstate. After pulling onto off ramp engine shut off completely during application of brakes. This has happened twice in hot (above 90 degrees) conditions. Car restarted after multiple attempts. I was in danger of being rear ended. No warning lights, no I dictations there was a problem. Dealer cannot reproduce the problem, no solution offered.

Aug 6, 2024

On several occasions my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring AWD with Idle start/stop will not restart when the idle start/stop kicks in. At a stop light several times when I come to a stop and the engine will turn off and not restart when the idle start/stop engages. Very dangerous and a clear safety issue that Honda needs to rectify asap. I have read many others with the same issue occurring. Honda, please step up and do the right thing!

Dealer diagnostic performed and found that the multipurpose camera internal electronic failure has occurred (report attached). This camera controls the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), automatic headlights and high beams, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System. This issue first began in March 2023 and occurs all of the time. I brought the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected. The warning lights and dings occur constantly throughout my ride. I have attached a link to a video that I had recorded and uploaded through Youtube, due to the size of the file. [XXX] Dealer quote states $1579, plus tax for camera replacement and proper aiming. This seems to be a common issue with the 2016-2020 model of the Honda Pilot per online chat boards. The price of repair among people that have either received a quote or had the camera replaced is from $1500-$1800. As this appears to be a manufacturing issue and not due to normal wear and tear, this should not be the responsibility of the owner. The back up camera is no longer working, i see online lots of reports. Hoping enough reports to issue a recall, the fix is over $800

Reverse camera is failing. Screen flickers badly and can’t safely see what’s behind the vehicle, low to the ground, when reversing.

The idle stop cuts the engine when stopped at lights or stop signs or traffic slow downs but does not always start back up. Twice this month I have had to open the door and then press the ignition multiple times to get the car to start again. When this happens we also get an alert that there are other features being disabled. This was an issue last year and the dealer felt it was that we needed a new battery. So we replaced that and hadn't had issues until this month. It happened on the highway this weekend during a traffic slow down, and because we couldn't get going right away we almost caused an accident.

Unknown. There is a popping and static sound coming from the speakers. Also, the check turner or radio is not available. A notification will be displayed on the screen when the vehicle hits a bump in the road, or the street is not smooth.

The backup camera became distorted and pixelated. Confirmed by the dealership. No warnings or symptoms prior to the issue initiating. Dealership confirmed it to be a faulty camera. The MOST communication cable connector recall causes the rear view camera to die early due to excess electrical noise going through the wire. There are many reports of the rear view cameras dying quickly due to the electrical issue of the MOST cable. The recall needs to cover the camera as well as the cable connectors, as they suffer damage as a result of the poor connection. My camera is still broken after the recall work was completed.

Auto start stop feature did not restart engine after I stopped in traffic ahead of me on [XXX] in New Hyde Park. This has happened twice to me and a few times to my wife although she did not report them through this site. All this is after I had reported earlier the same incidents and Honda diagnosed it to the battery needing replacement after 2 years. There is a problem with this feature and NHTSA SHOULD ACT. 1ST OCCURENCE: 45000 miles on vehicle. I was exiting a busy ramp from [XXX] to Fort Oglethorpe, Ga and the Idle stop caused the engine to stall and not re-engage upon lifting the break. I was almost hit from the rear. The vehicle had power but would not restart. I had to wait for it to shut itself down and get it to restart. 2ND OCCURENCE: 62000 miles on vehicle. Almost a year and a half from the first occurrence-I was on a very busy [XXX] and came to stop at a red light. AGAIN, the idle stop caused the engine to stall and not restart. The light turned green, and I immediately turned my flashers on. I had a child in the backseat. Cars still began honking and going around us, leaving us to potentially get smashed from behind on a road that many people travel at 55mph plus! Two nice people stopped and were going to try and push us out of the road. The vehicle would not remain in neutral and allow itself to be rolled. It automatically throws itself back into park. It eventually shut all the way down and was able to be restarted. I no longer feel safe driving my children in the vehicle as this is a HUGE safety concern for busy areas and intersections. This feature can be disengaged with a button but has to be done every time the car is re-started, this button can also easily be pushed at ANY time by accident and the feature would re-engage. Honda STILL has NO remedy to permanently disengage this feature. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The alarm sounded all through the night killing the battery leaving me stranded almost 500 miles from home. Took it to the Honda in Pensacola to be diagnosed only to be told they couldn’t get the part and had to pay a $80 fee on top of renting a car to use while out of town. Then had to leave a day early from our trip (losing money there) because we could not cut the car off without the alarm, lights, and inside going crazy. When we got back home the Honda here said it was the keyless access control unit and replaced it. After researching I have found the is a common issue with the Pilot.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while at a stop light with the Auto START/STOP feature activated, the vehicle did not immediately restart after releasing the brake pedal. The contact had to shift to the park and restart the vehicle manually. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the idle stop module, and the failure was remedied however, the failure later reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 82,000.

For several months there was a crackling sound coming from the dashboard/ speakers. I mentioned this problem to my service advisor on at least 2 different appointments and even showed him a recording of the problem. It was never fixed. Finally, My entertainment center stopped working altogether. It would not even turn on. I once again reminded my service advisor about the crackling/ popping sounds and wondered if these problems were related. They stated a cable was loose, reconnected and my entertainment center began to work again. Unfortunately, the crackling and popping sound continued. When using the audio system, the speakers would abruptly make crackling and popping noises, similar to static noises, which caused the audio to interrupt and cut out. Even when I turned the audio off, the speakers continued to make the crackling and popping sounds. This was extremely nerve recking, and caused safety concerns because I was not sure what was going on and where sounds were coming from when I first begin having this issue with the car. It happened randomly. The audio would also stop and dvd would stop working where image no longer appeared on the back screen. I took it to the dealership again today and received a quote for about $1,600.00 to have it repaired. I have found multiple complains online for this same problem. Honda was well aware of the problem and should extend warranty and cover my repair cost fully. While driving and vehicle is in motion, vehicle loses all power, all electrical components turn off and vehicle shuts off. To reiterate, this is not the idle stop power down, this is the entire vehicle shutting off. Last time I was driving at 45 MPH when all power lost. Taking vehicle to dealership for pending recalls this week. No warning lights, no messages on display, just seemingly a random loss of power.

There are many instances where my wife Honda Pilot 2019 touring would shut off at a stop light and on high way with traffice and will not start back up. Auto Idle function stopped the engine while waiting to make a left hand turn on a busy street. When trying to make the left hand turn the engine was unable to restart resulting in engine warning lights as well as battery warning lights and a complete shutdown of the car and all systems. Warning lights only appeared when I took my foot off the break and pushed the gas pedal to reengage the engine and move. This left the vehicles lifeless and stranded in the middle of the street for a few minutes before I was able to restart the car after a few failed attempts to do so. This left me stranded in the middle of a busy multi lane street in San Diego with cars having to go around me back into traffic to get by. I have had other instances of stopping at lights where the auto idle stop function engaged and my entertainment system / radio / navigation system shut down until i turned off the car and restarted it completely later. The other instances did not have a failure to restart the engine. Honda has told me there is no current recall for the auto idle function and that I had a software update for this last visit prior to this latest incident occurring. They are also stating I can come have a full diagnostics run but it is no longer covered by warranty. I will be taking the car to Honda for a diagnostic but have read about ongoing issues with this feature and feel like i will be stuck with this ongoing issue. Currently manually turning off this function every time in the car now and have had no further issues since manually disabling for all trips.

When my car is at a stop, the engine idles and will not restart. Sometimes, charging the battery will upstart the engine, while sometimes it will not start at all. We've had the battery checked several times, and the battery checks out fine. The car has an electric shift, and I can't place it into neutral to push the car tot he side. So, we wait in the midst of a heavily trafficked intersection until a tow truck comes. This has happened several times in heavy traffic and once in our driveway. After yesterday's incident, I asked my friend who has the same car to see if she has similar issues. She said YES! After bringing the car to the dealer numerous times, she turns off the idle engine everytime she drives, and she hasn't had the issue. I also researched on Google, and this seems to be a recurring problem for Honda cars with the same engine. This needs to be remedied as a global recall. My car is at the Firestone waiting for tomorrow to come, so I can call Honda dealership to remedy this problem. It won't start, even with a charge. We had the battery checked in July, 2023 when it last happened, and the battery is fine. This defect is a safety hazzard for its owners and passengers.

Sep 28, 2023

My 2019 Honda Pilot Touring (7 passenger) has a defect with the auto stop-start system that is a major (and scary!) safety concern. On a handful of occasions over the past couple of years, when stopped at a traffic light (and the auto stop-start feature engages) the engine will fair to restart. My wife has complained that this happened to her several times, and finally this week I was in the car to witness it for myself. The car went from drive to neutral ON ITS OWN, instruments began flashing, the "i" indicator came on, and we couldn't get the car back into drive. We had to turn the car all the way off and back on in order to get it back into drive. I took a picture of the dash and will upload it here. I've read online that this might be caused by a cold battery; however, this incident occurred on a warm September day in the southeastern US. Also, we've had the battery on this car replaced a couple of times (a whole other issue that puzzles me). This is scary and dangerous in the middle of a busy intersection! In fact, my wife now refuses to drive the car, so we've switched cars for the time being. We were going to give this car to our daughter in a few years when she can drive, but that's definitely not happening now....way too dangerous! I'm at a loss for what the next steps are and would really appreciate some guidance. I'm taking the car back to the dealership tomorrow for diagnostics, but in the past they've suggested they can't replicate it so it's not a problem. Ugh. Please help.

Back camera failure and shows image with color mixed. This creates an unsafe environment and its hard to recognize anything with this issue. This makes it unsafe for the driver who is backing up and to the people behind the car. Honda will not address it saying its not related to the cable recall NHTSA Recall #: 23V-431. I believe this cable issue actually fails the camera as well and Honda should address it as well. This issue looks like is not a random issue and there are lot of cars that are having this issue.

To address the General Guidelines questions, the responses are identified below: 1. Charging System problem appeared on dashboard. Took the vehicle for inspection 9/18/23. 2. Possible vehicle crash/death if stopped suddenly, highly possible 3. Yes, see uploaded 2nd file 4. No, the vehicle has not been inspected per entities noted above. 5. There appears to be hesitation in the vehicle operation. See 1st uploaded file as message appeared on dashboard. NOTE: On the dealership report, it appears the tech conducted tests of the components associated with the matter. Did he/she conduct a visual inspection of those components? I am scared of driving of vehicle because of the possibility of being stranded or crash or death to myself or others, as the reasons I am producing this report. I have made my family members aware of the problem and this report to you. Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My rear camera does not work in my car. I received a recall notice regarding this. It was unable to be completed because my Infotainment system is completely non functional at this point. This is an on going issue that I have had with this car almost immediately after purchase. My speedometer also disappears while driving… the screen goes completely black and I have no idea how fast I’m going. It happens numerous times a week at this point.

Aug 15, 2023

The rear view camera isn't working. The camera itself is the problem according to the dealer, which isn't covered by a similar recall that was related to a cable. They claim the module itself stopped functioning for no known reasoning, which costs about $800 to replace.

came to stop sign at busy intersection and engine shutoff as part of the auto engine stop. The issue is when I let off the brake the engine did not restart and put the car in neutral. had to cut off and restart.

Was driving normal and the windshield camera radar fail, and a lot of warning lights come on, take to a dealer and told me that some internal part of the camera fail, and need to be replace, they estimate for that is $1600, now I’m driving with out automatic brake, no cruise control, no line keeping assistant, 2019 Honda Pilot Ex-L, I think is a common problem and need to recall this,. Thank you

NHTSA Recall # 23V-431. MOST cable needs to be replaced for the backup camera. Received recall notification on August 5, contacted dealer on August 7 to schedule repair. I was given November 28 as the date for the recall repair. That date is 113 days from my scheduled date. This time frame is unacceptable and more than the 60 days noted in the recall letter.

Auto start-stop failure. After the auto start-stop engages (turns off engine at intersection), sometimes the vehicle does not restart. I have to press the starter on the dashboard to restart and put the transmission back in gear. Other times, when it does restart like it is supposed to, it flashes a "collision alert warning" on the dashboard when it restarts. These incidents started about three months ago and are now happening much more frequently.

Crackling sound in speakers and error message on touch screen (entertainment screen front) MOST NET OFF and screen goes off. This is a safety issue as when we are drving on roads we are usually relying on google maps, when screen goes off during critical turns, driver gets distracted and park the car to side road, which sometimes is dangerous due to other fast moving vehicles. Many times when screen goes off it distracts the driver by not keeping eyes on road. The crackling sounds are very loud, it sometimes make the driver apply sudden braking on highways due to distraction.

The Infotainment System in my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring has had problems with its display since September 2020 when it went dim/dark all by itself while driving. The unit would come back on at some point by itself. The unit would not acknowledge the controls being accessed by me. This unit includes the rear camera-a vital safety item of the vehicle. The below is the sequence of events to date. The infotainment center is still not functioning properly. 1. Sep 9 2020: Brought car to Honda due to a dark not functioning infotainment screen which includes the back-up camera. Honda replaced the audio unit (Display, Center). 2. Feb 27 - Mar 7 2023: Infotainment center cracking from speakers and dropping calls and sudden signal off. The crackling and dropping calls would proceed the system completely shutting down by providing a multitude of errors to include: Network Communication Lost: MOST Net Off; Radio unavailable; Anti Theft System: This system has lost power. Push and hold the power button for more than two seconds to enable the system; No audio connection for FM. Honda performed the campaign recall for the MOST Bus Network Connectors. 3. Mar 14 2023: Same issues from #2 above. Honda states they did everything from the recall for the MOST Bus Network Connectors. Honda states it is the AMP and replaces amp. 4. Apr 6 - May 31 2023. Same issues from #2 above. Honda state they did everything from the recall for the MOST Bus Network Connectors. Honda states it is the Control Unit, Navigator(A)/Infotainment. Honda replaces the control unit. 5. Jun 14 2023 to present. Same issues from #2 above. Honda rechecks every connection between the gauge control module and stereo amplifier. Honda shop learns there is a new service bulletin coming out in the next 4 weeks. They want to wait for that to assess. System still fails w/no camera when the unit powers off by itself.

Car is at 56K mileage. I was at a stop light engine was running, when I took my foot off the brake and tried to accelerate the engine died, the dashboard flashed a collision warning, (there were no cars or animals near my car), then all the screens dashboard behind steering wheel and on middle console all went blank. I restarted the car and made it home fine. Drove the car the next day for several stops (street and highway driving), then the same thing happened at a stop light and it restarted and I made it home fine. The third day there were no problems while driving 30+ miles streets and highway. The fourth day, drove about 15 miles to work and all was fine. Drove about 13 miles street and highway just fine. Ran an errand and car would not restart. Pressing the engine start button resulting in clicking but not engine start, headlight flashing, and the dashboard behind steering flashing various warning messages (cycled through several as I held the start button down, collision, braking system failure, power steering, etc.) but never started. Let it rest for ~3 hours and still would not start, same result with clicking and flashing headlights and warning messages.

My wife was driving the car with our six-year old son. She stopped at a red light. The engine turned off from the auto-stop function (which we find annoying but cannot be permanently disabled) and the car would not restart. The warning lights were going crazy. The battery was so dead that the car could not even be jumped. There was no warning whatsoever. It was an extremely dangerous situation as the car died in the middle of a busy street. Thankfully it was close to home and I was able to come and take over. until help arrived The police had to come and divert traffic. People were honking and threatening me while I waited for the tow truck. When the two truck arrived, we could not get the car into neutral to move it out of the street because the gear shifting required the engine to start. It was an extremely dangerous situation and I shudder to think what could have happened had this occurred on a busier road. I have videos of the incident that I can share if helpful (wont let me upload on website). Honda replaced the battery and basically shrugged.

In multiple incidents, our 2019 Honda Pilot stalled and would not restart. In two such incidents, the vehicle stalled and all systems became inoperable (including the hazard lights) at busy intersections, endangering the lives of my wife and two small children. The vehicle has been to the dealership where it was originally purchased (brand new) without resolution. There were no warning or indicator lights prior to the incidents. Honda has indicated that there may be an issue with the auto-idle system on certain vehicles (which this may be related to), but has not issued a recall despite this incredibly dangerous and life-threatening issue.

The entertainment display which is also the rear view camera display, turns off intermittently during driving and displays the following message: Network communication lost MOST Net Off. When this happens the rear view/back up camera doesn’t function creating an unsafe situation. The display will work again after turning the car off and then back on. The issue is random and unable to be reproduced. A dealer hasn’t confirmed the issue. It hasn’t been inspected. There were no warning lamps or display messages before the issue occurred. It has happened a 6-7 times in the past 9 months.

Auto stop/start in vehicle activated at red light, vehicle engine turned off and would not restart. Vehicle kept saying shift to Park to turn on engine, vehicle was in park. Waited a few minutes at the intersection, engine finally turned over and car started. An issue had occurred multiple times before stopping at a red light, but usually it just turns off my radio or digital dash board when auto start/stop is activated, and the radio comes back on if you let off the brake and the feature is disengaged.

Mar 6, 2023

On friday March 3, 2023 driving home from work, stop at a light and the car does not turn back on. It took at least 10 minutes to finally turn on for me to at least get home. I know that this is probably once again a battery issue. On April 1st of 2022 we replaced the battery for the 3rd time. The first time it was replaced the car was still under warranty. I usually turn off the auto start because I have had this problem at least 8 times prior to this last problem. This is a dangerous problem that this keeps happening. I shouldn't have to replace a battery every year like this. There should be a way of seeing if the battery has low voltage but I have not seen anything in the car regarding voltage. There should be a recall, Honda says that no other customer has complaints about this. I do see other people on this forum that have this issue. It really is hard to keep taking days off to go to a Honda dealer to get a new battery at 350 each pop. Please let me know what Honda plans on doing for this issue.

This 2019 Honda Pilot Elite has an Engine Auto Shut Off that engages when stopped at traffic lights, stopped traffic, etc. It can be turned off manually each time after starting the car ignition but when it is not - it will engage in these stopped positions. Recently, the Auto Shut Off has been engaging and the vehicle will completely shut off and go into Neutral. This has happened to us at stop lights with some frequency but has recently happened two times in stopped traffic on Interstate 95. We cannot get the vehicle to start back up without completely shutting off the ignition and going through the restart sequence. It is not an immediate fix and we are in a compromised and unsafe position on a highway without being able to start the car quickly.

Feb 19, 2023

Twice now when waiting at a light the auto idle turns the engine off. When the light has turned green, I go to step on the gas and the car shuts completely off. I need to put it in park, step on the break and restart my car. 5-10 second delay in going at the green light. The last time this happened it was at night and a semi didn’t realize I was stopped and had to run off the road to avoid hitting me. This is extremely dangerous and many are reporting it for years.

Feb 10, 2023

Honda Pilot, 2019. Loose wiring causing the infotainment center and lane assist to go out while driving, there is a service bulletin out there, but dealership will not repair. Bulletin number 20-058. This is dangerous while driving, and will not recover until the car is turned off and turned back on.

Jan 12, 2023

Often times when accelerating the car has issues and will sometimes feel like it is dropping down a shift while I am in the middle of accelerating. Also, if Idle stop is left on, the car will sometimes shut off completely before turning back on. Yesterday, the car shut off completely then turned back on but I could not get it out of neutral. when I tried to shut the car off nothing would happen and when I tried to put it in park to then try and shut the car off still nothing happened. Finally, after a few minutes it turned off and I was able to start it back up and put it in drive. This is while I was coming off of the interstate and going into a round about. I only stopped for a second to merge onto the roundabout so this was a potentially dangerous situation.

Dec 28, 2022

Car has failed to restart multiple times after the idle mode feature kicks in when coming to a complete stop. Emergency lights also do not function when this occurs making this very dangerous, especially at night. It can take several minutes before the car starts. Car was looked at by the dealership where they could not replicate it. I disable this feature now when driving. The car has failed to start now on a few occasions and sometimes will only start in accessory mode.

Dec 21, 2022

When stopped at a light, the auto engine idle stop/start did not re-engage after taking my foot off the brake. It took the car a few seconds to turn back on and be able to accelerate. This could happen in the middle of an intersection and cause accidents. This happened a second time today and the LKAS system was alerting that maintenance is needed.

Dec 5, 2022

When stopped at a stoplight or stop sign, the car has an auto start/stop feature where instead of the car idling, it shuts off and then starts back up when the brake is released. The car stalls and displays several dashboard warning lights and will not start back up after it auto stops. After several minutes, I can usually get it to start back up, but it typically happens in heavy traffic causing a substantial safety issue.

Dec 5, 2022

This is a 2019 Honda Pilot with start stop function. There is a noticeable delay in activation and getting longer with time; this is a 3 year old vehicle. During 2 other instances, the system failed and vehicle would not start on a public street. During these failures and delays, other than the obvious collision safety issue, the safety systems are unavailable via a message on the dash. When it eventually starts back up it functions normally. This is clearly the system prematurely failing or the system prematurely killing the battery (which has a normal functional life of 5 - 7 years).

Nov 23, 2022

The automatic start/stop system turns the car off at red lights, as it it supposed to. However, several times the car will not start when I push the gas pedal but instead the whole car turns off. It takes opening and closing the door while pushing the park button and the engine start button to turn the car back on. This usually occurs at red lights which is very dangerous.

Nov 23, 2022

Our 2019 Honda Pilot has issues when the start-stop is active. When we come to a stop at a traffic light, gate, etc. it often will not restart on brake release. This creates serious concern in heavy traffic and we have been close to being rear-ended at stop lights. To restart the car we often have issues if it stalls during this brake press and release. It seems to electronically show in park, but not able to restart since it is not in park. We also see the issue when brake is pressed and tries to restart based on time. There are various lights on when this occurs. If we don’t activate the start-stop we don’t see the issue. If we manually turn the start-stop we don’t see the issue. However we need remember to turn this off manually defeating the fuel savings. I believe we can replicate this.

Nov 16, 2022

In AUg 2021 when the auto stop engaged the car would fail to turn on. Errors would come on on the dash and while car would die at stoplight. Took to dealer and they could not replicate so nothing was done. This happened randomly and we would need to put in park, wait a while and turn back on. Then in Oct 2021 the battery died and they replaced under warranty. There was no issues until Nov. 2022. The same started happening. Again dealer could not replicate and nothing was done. They did note the 1 year old advanced battery was low and charge and have charged it.

For several months I have been experiencing occasionally and randomly a complete shut down of my vehicle whenever I'm at a complete stop. I need to restart my vehicle completely which typically turns on, but in some instances I have to try up to a couple of times. This has happened over a dozen times in a 6-9 months time frame. Sometimes when restarting the vehicle a message will appear on my screen that says my auto theft has been disabled and stays on until the next time I restart. This issue has been a source of anxiety for my children and I and we feel unsafe. I dropped of my vehicle at the dealership and they explained that my 2019 is due for a new battery which is being installed today 11/9/2022 at 45k miles. I never got a warning that a new battery was required and I've been informed by the dealership that "old codes had to be erased". They are assuring me that this will take care of the problem I have been experiencing for months.

Our 2019 Honda Pilot will flash the brake for the front collision warning system when there is no oncoming traffic or even when the oncoming traffic is in its lane. It does not always happen, but enough to be an annoyance. It also tends, when stopped at a light, and the auto stop engages not to restart. The entire electrical system goes haywire and then dies. This includes the ability to use your 4way or emergency flashers. The car then has to be jumped or towed to restart the vehicle.

I was stopped at a stop light and the engine went into "idle" mode and then cut off completely and all power was lost. I put the vehicle in park and attempted to restart unsuccessfully. I was unable to restart the vehicle for several minutes.

Today is the 6th time our Honda has had issues either the automatic start/stop system failing when at a stop light. The car will stop and shut off like it is supposed to, but will not restart. Car needs to be put into park, turned off, restarted, shift back into drive. This happens while we are at risk of being hit from behind, honked at, and creates an unsafe and stressful driving situation. Car has had infotainment issues that seemed to be fixed, but had issues prior to today’s incident. Car has been only serviced at Honda. No warning lights etc. This issue was reported to our dealer last December and they said the could no replicate the issue. In August this happened again immediately after having the car serviced for an oil change. The car is putting my family and others at risk and there seems to be many others with this same problem happening.

Oct 23, 2022

When stopped at a red light the engine shifted from drive to neutral on its own. The brake became stiff and it took shutting off and restarting the car multiple times before it would shift. This is the third instance of this vehicle shifting to neutral on its own. After the previous times (they occurred within the same day- one shifting from park to neutral and the other similar to this experience, also at a red light), I took the car into the dealership where it came back showing no codes and could not be replicated while there. It is a push button electric shifter and the vehicle has had multiple recalls and service bulletins for electronics (all repaired) and has experienced issues beginning one month after I purchased the car brand new.

Oct 17, 2022

Auto idle start/stop stalls at intersection. Auto idle engages normally, but when release foot from brake, car acts like it is going to restart the engine as it should, instead it kicks the car in neutral and accessory mode. You have to press the brake, press the start/stop button multiple times to get it to restart.

Oct 16, 2022

My 2019 Pilot continues to randomly turn off. This happens at stop lights mostly, but did happen while driving as well. Latest was at a gas station where it would not restart. Had it to a mechanic and auto zone and both said that nothing is wrong with the car.

Oct 16, 2022

For the second time is the last few weeks the car experienced issues after losing electrical power. It failed to start after being parked for about an hour at the airport. All sorts of warnings started randomly blinking on the dashboard. But the door, cabin lights etc all would come in when the doors were opened.

Oct 11, 2022

On several occasions my vehicle has acted as if it were going to die at a stoplight or intersection where the brake pedal was pushed enough to trigger the auto-off function. It did not start doing this until the last several months. I assumed it was because I did not have my foot pressed enough. On one occasion several weeks back it acted as if it did not want to start and then today I was completely stopped and stuck at a light, blocking traffic. The battery light came on and it would not let me restart it. After a minute I finally got it started and immediately drove it to the Honda dealer in which they weren’t able to check it. I will take back tomorrow for them to check it out. I’ve also read several articles about this same thing happening so I wanted to report it for the records.

Oct 2, 2022

The car is equipped with a stop-start system that is supposed to shut off the engine when you stop (eg at a red light) and restart almost instantly when you lift the foot off the brake. The restart feature fails somewhat regularly, maybe about 5% of the time. It has happened for many years, and with increasing frequency as the car is getting older. Sometimes the restart has trouble, the car misfires a moment, but then the engine restarts, sometimes a bunch of unrelated warnings sound when this happens, the car reporting that the collision avoidance systems are now offline or similar. Sometimes the engine completely stalls and does not come back online at all; when this happens, getting it restarted generally means putting it in park, turning the car completely off, then starting it again, a process that takes 10-15 seconds. When this happens at an isolated stop sign it is annoying; it has also happened on a highway exit ramp with traffic going around our disabled vehicle. Various Honda dealers have inspected and maintained the vehicle, and none have detected anything wrong to explain this behavior. The problem is intermittent and thus hard to reproduce on demand.

Sep 28, 2022

I am actually reporting two incidences, since the first (never reported) now appears to be related. 1st: In March 2022 (approx 35,600 miles on the vehicle), the vehicle completely shut down after attempting to accelerate back out of the auto-idle stop mode. I was stopped at a traffic light on a Highway off-ramp in rush hour traffic. All of the warning lights and exterior lights started flashing and strobing in and out, but I also had no power of any kind for windows, radio, nothing. I was unable to turn on the emergency flashers, so I got out of the vehicle to redirect traffic around me while I waited for it to be towed to the dealership. They told me that by the time my vehicle got to them, that the battery was completely dead, and therefore there was no data or code. They told me that it had to be the battery, but they’d fully recharged the battery and it was all good. (Covered under warranty) Yesterday afternoon 9/27 I was at a stoplight, once again in auto-idle stop mode. I depressed the accelerator once the light turned green and the car would not move. I looked down and noticed that my car had shifted itself into neutral? It would not allow me to put it back in park and/or restart. By now I am trying to wave the people behind me to go around, when I look up and see there’s some kind of message scrolling across the driver’s display; something about a wrong gear? There were cars stuck behind me, so I was in a bit of a panic mode. I took a few breaths and tried again. I fully depressed the brake, was finally able to put the car back into park and restart the car. I am bringing the vehicle in for service tomorrow (I am now outside of warranty) after just having a comprehensive 40,000 mile service completed on Sept 10. Note: vehicle was purchased brand new and has been 100% dealer serviced.

"Check Engine" light comes on, followed by "Emissions System" problem, then "AWD" problem, and also "Transmission" light with a message to pull over and find a safe location. Have brought in for the "Emissions Systems" problem and AWD multiple times, but problem re-appears within a day. Uploading one invoice of many.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that after being idle at a red traffic light and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that the Start/Stop function operated as designed while stopped however, when the accelerator pedal was depressed the system failed to re-engage. The contact had to wait for several minutes before the Push to Start button would restart the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact called the dealer but was unable to reach a representative. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

In the past I have reported an issue with the auto stop to Price Honda. They sent me away saying nothing was wrong. Last night my car died while coming to a stop. No warning. No engine check lights. The emergency flashers wouldn't work nor doors or windows and I was stuck in the middle of the road with my children without Hazzard lights. No way to put car into neutral unless you have a special tool which even the Honda dealership couldn't help me with. This was not disclosed when we bought the car and was stuck in high traffic for over 2 hours until a mechanic came and finally got my car to start and move to side by switching the battery along with other stuff. He stated the battery should not have died in Drive and something is wrong. I see this is a known issue when looking at your website. I do not feel safe driving this Honda pilot. It can shut down at any time without warning and leave us stranded. Not being able to move into neutral in its self is safety Hazzard especially with no hazard lights. Price Honda [XXX] was very rude and brushed me off telling me no one is going to call me back over this. However their manager [XXX] called me shortly after and even acknowledged the known issue and said could take years to recall. This is not ok and why wasn't any of this disclosed. We should know that we need a tool (and know how to do it since in the engine) to save us if our car breaks down so we can at least get to side of road! I see This issue is being investigated by you, not sure why it was not disclosed especially when I already reported to Honda. My kids and I could have died yesterday. Single lane road no shoulders no flashers and cars flying past us. Not ok especially for this type of car that I bought brand new! I need assistance with this please before someone does get hurt. On multiple occasions the auto start/stop has failed when releasing brake pedal vehicle will completely shut off and takes multiple attempts to turn back on. This is a hazard due to the fact that it has occured on busy streets and state highways. At this time vehicle has not been inspected by dealer we do plan on taking it in asap.

I got my brand new Honda in 2019; the problems started right away, after a few weeks, the radio system would just turn off while driving. The whole console wouldn’t work. I would turn it on/off but still nothing. If I let the car set over night sometimes it may work the next day. They replaced my radio but it continued. [XXX] from Honda said it was finally in Error state and it was the Amplifier. [XXX] had ordered a new 1 & put it in 9/8/22, I thought my problems were over. On 9/12/22; I dropped my daughter off at school, I was leaving but I had to stop for traffic. I was about to pull out when the dash starting flashing/lighting up & I couldn’t go anywhere. The car was in Park and I was stuck. I pushed the car into drive, etc., but it wouldn’t go. I turned the car off/on to try to restart things but nothing. The brakes then locked up and I couldn’t do anything. I tried everything that I could think, I was blocking traffic not allowing people to leave from the school and cars from coming in. I called Honda Rd. Asst. But they said I had no longer a warranty as I am at 30,000 but I thought it was 36,000 miles. They connected me to AAA which I had to pay out of pocket for towing. I called [XXX] & my Serv. Advr. [XXX] so they knew that I was going to towed in. I couldn’t get the vehicle to turn off or on after awhile. 2 hrs. later; the tow truck had came, he had to jump start it to get it on his truck, he toke me to Honda. I waited over 4 hrs. but [XXX] said battery was good, he ran errors but couldn’t find anything wrong except the back up camera had an error but it seemed as though he didn’t believe that is the problem. I could take it home but he said if his wife was having issues, he wouldn’t want her to drive it. I left it w/Honda, [XXX] took it hm. to see if it would do what it did for me. I honestly don’t want to drive it, I am scared; what if something worse happens or pay to be towed again. I didn’t want a new vehicle to deal with issues. Vehicle is equipped with auto engine shutoff when vehicle stops. It started failing and has caused the car to stall at red light. Purchased vehicle 4 months ago

Aug 27, 2022

The problem, I believe, it with the auto start/stop feature of the car. At least 10 times (starting in mid 2021), while stopped at a traffic stop, the auto stop feature enables causing the engine to stop when the brake pedal is pressed down. Upon taking my foot off the brake pedal, the car stalls and does not start up right away. This always seems to happen at a busy intersection, and I have to put on my hazards until I can get the car to start up again which takes up to 2 minutes. This happens in both hot and cold weather. The danger here is that I can be hit by another car expecting me to move and also causes me to block traffic in dangerously busy areas. The problem cannot be reproduced at the dealership as per the dealership. There are never any symptoms prior to the car auto start/stop feature failing. This is a safety issue that can literally cause serious injury

Aug 24, 2022

On my drive home this afternoon the auto idle stop feature on my 2019 Pilot touring began to hesitate to restart after releasing my foot from the brake. The result was an orange warning light telling me that there is a problem with the collision mitigation system and a shudder before the engine would resume running. I had to turn off the auto-start feature to avoid stalling in rush hour traffic.

Aug 23, 2022

Car fails to start after a short drive and parked and always requires a jump start. Car also fails to restart after a stop/start at a complete stop! Has happened multiple times in busy intersections where you’re a sitting target for moving traffic. Always requires a jump start. Have checked battery many times and the battery checks out fine. Maybe electrical or charging system issue. Dealer can’t reproduce the problem as it happens sporadically. Can’t figure out problem and a hazard to drive with kids in car.

Aug 22, 2022

Auto engine shut off will turn off engine at stoplight but fail to restart engine when brake is released. Extremely unsafe. It has happened multiple times and each time we are afraid there will be an accident because we are sitting ducks and not accelerating when traffic expects us to.

Aug 22, 2022

There is a problem with the auto engine idle stop system. If I don't turn it off every time I start the car, then the car has a really difficult time re-starting when it automatically turns off at a stop light. This is especially true if the A/C is running. Sometimes, the car has a difficult time restarting or it has to try a few times. A couple of times, it has shifted itself into neutral and a couple of times, it has turned itself entirely off. The problem seems to be getting worse over time. Twice recently my car wouldn't start at all and had to be jumped to start again. I took it to the Honda Dealership and they confirmed they had heard of the issue and that another customer had brought their Pilot into service for the same reason the week before. They told me that the first step was to try a new battery. I've done that but am worried my car will stop on the middle of the freeway somewhere...

Aug 18, 2022

this is my second complaint as the auto start stop has failed again. This morning on the way to work, the auto start/stop engaged at an intersection. When the light turned green and i tried to go, the car wouldn't turn over. Stranded yet again at another intersection. Have to go through the whole process of putting the car in park, restarting the engine manually, then putting back into drive. The process isnt as quick as you'd think. There is a delay in all of this. Honda refuses to acknowledge the issue and has left me with an extremely unsafe vehicle.

Aug 16, 2022

The vehicle in question has the idle stop function, which turns off the vehicle when certain conditions are met. Randomly, the vehicle does not restart on its own which forces me to power cycle the vehicle in order for it to start back up. This is a safety issue because the vehicle has been stuck in the middle of an intersection while I am trying to get it restarted. If the vehicle were to be completely disabled, I could be stuck causing a hazard at any given intersection. I have had the vehicle inspected and the battery tested, but everything checks out OK. I don't feel very safe when the vehicle can just shut off randomly and not restart. I have noticed sometimes, when the vehicle does restart, the dash flashes a warning that says, "Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem" for a split second and then it clears.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while stopping at a stop light, the vehicle shut down. The contact had to restart the vehicle where it started to operate normally. On another occasion, while driving at 40 MPH when the contact accelerated the vehicle shut down completely, and all the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where they replaced fuel injectors, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again where they replaced the battery to the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 30,000.

Auto Start/Stop capability not working effectively and causes safety concerns with my children in the car. There has been numerous times where the car will NOT start back up leaving me stranded in intersections/traffic. Sometimes I cannot get the car to start back up for a few minutes while I am scrambling to figure out what combination I need to get it to power back up. I hate this feature and makes me extremely nervous while having the little ones in the backseat. We have asked the dealership to disable this feature all together and they refuse, I know there is the button to press but it is not convenient to press that every time I start the car back up. Easy to forget, I hope no one is seriously hurt due to this issue.

Aug 15, 2022

The automatic start-stop system doesn’t turn back on after a complete stop.

Aug 14, 2022

The auto stop/start gas saving feature often results with the car being unable to automatically restart. When this happens, in traffic, I am forced to put the car in park, and hopefully, manually restart the vehicle. This has resulted in the need for roadside assistance, several times (the car requires a jump). I have sent the vehicle to the dealer multiple times, but they say they cannot find the problem or are unable to duplicate it. Once they tested for battery and electrical system for power leaks and such, and though the car is only 3 years old, it is on it's third battery. I have had to regiment myself to disabling the feature, before driving, to ensure the issue doesn't happen in traffic again, as it could result in an accident. The last time this happened was the first week of August 2022, but it has occurred NUMEROUS times, and I'm pretty fed up with the whole issue.

Aug 12, 2022

The engine start/stop idle does not start up again after the car stops when at a red light or in traffic.

Aug 9, 2022

When the car is stopped (like at an intersection), the auto ignition stop activates. Sometimes when the accelerator is pressed to start the car again, the car seems to blink, the radio resets, and the car shifts itself into Neutral displaying a sign the driver should shift into Park. Then we have to put the car in park and restart the car. This is definitely unnerving as this happens at busy intersections, and we're afraid of getting rear ended by jumpy motorists. this has happened on 6/30, 6/27. 6/23. 6/22. 6/15. Honda replaced the keyless entry unit on 7/18, but it still occurs.

Aug 4, 2022

Vehicle has auto idle feature that activates when car comes to complete stop. Typically, the engine restarts when you take your foot off the brake, however, there have now been three occasions that the system did not restart the engine and the car stalled. I have contacted several Honda dealers and they are all aware of this issue but do not have a way to fix the issue.

Aug 4, 2022

The engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged, it requires multiple starts, and twice now, just completely does not start.

Jul 29, 2022

When the idle stop system is engaged and the brake is depressed to activate the vehicle engine to shut off (at a red light for example), sometimes when lifting your foot off the gas the vehicle does not restart as it is designed to. This leaves the driver stranded at a green light panicking to find a way to get the car started and other vehicles stuck behind the stalled car stopping the normal flow of traffic and causing a potential accident.

Jul 28, 2022

The stop-start function has not restarted on a couple occasions. I have been at a stop light released my foot from the gas and the failure has occurred. The vehicle was auto shifted into neutral. Instructions were to put in park and restart. I did not feel safe that I my was stuck in an intersection and I didn't know if the vehicle would restart. There were no noticeable errors that I recall. I have had the battery checked on the vehicle and it is good. As of right now, I have not had it checked by a dealer. I try to remember to disable the start-stop function when I drive.

Jul 28, 2022

Vehicle was driving and operating as it should. Parked it for about 30 to 45 minutes now it won't start. Has happened before and honda said vehicle was fine after they looked at it. Vehicle has had an issue with auto start stop while at a traffic light

Jul 24, 2022

The pilot turns the engine off while idling to save fuel. Twice this week when I have been stopped at stop lights it becomes unresponsive and I am unable to get the car back into gear. Attempts to turn the car on and off and to restart the car don't work. Both times I was only able to get it started after opening the drivers door... it took at least 1 minute each time. But I am very worried about it causing an accident. I have realized that I can turn this feature off, but it defaults to it being on everytime you start it again.

Jul 23, 2022

The engine start stop function failed to restart the car at an intersection. I tried to start the car few times but it did not start. I placed it into Neutral and tried restarting but it failed. I was not able to put it in Drive, there was a notification that the car needs to be started before going into D. Finally was able to turn off the car. It restarted and was back in drivable condition. It was a panic situation. We hope Honda can address this issue.

Jul 18, 2022 Crash

The contact owned a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while attempting to park the vehicle at approximately 2 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated forward violently and jumped a parking barrier. The contact stated she almost hit two nearby passengers; however was able to steer the vehicle to the side, and crashed into a tree where the vehicle came to a stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver's air bag deployed. The vehicle was destroyed. The police arrived on the scene. There was a police report filed. One of the nearby passengers, which the contact almost hit was injured due to her fall and sustained a fractured arm that required medical treatment. There were injuries to the contact arms, chest, and stomach from the seat belt retraction however she declined medical treatment at the scene. The vehicle was towed to the local salvage lot. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

Jul 16, 2022

Starting in early 2021 at around 40,000 miles my auto idle stop working causing my pilot to stall while in stop and go on interstate, at stop lights and and stop signs. Basically everytime the suv comes to a stop, it completely shuts down car. I have to shift back to park and start engine again , sometimes it takes a few minutes and a few tries. Very dangerous have to put on flashers while people go around me. It has happened so many times I turn off the auto idle everytime I get in the vehicle. I checked honda forums and everyone who tried to get it fixed from Honda dealer ( several different ways) it just kept happening and Honda cant explain. I asked my dealer today and they did not have an answer either, do not want to waste my $. I have to keep a note taped to ignition button reminding me to turn off idle.

Jul 13, 2022

When vehicle was at a stop, then car turned off via the auto stop feature and did not turn back on its own. This happened twice. The first time it took a few minutes for me to be able to start the car. It kept shifting the transmission to neutral on its own, then I would shift it to park and when I pressed the start button it went back to neutral. This happened about 10 times on a row before I was able to restart the car. The second time I was able to restart it immediately.

Jul 12, 2022

In heavy traffic at the airport, when I was slowing down and stopping the Automatic Start/Stop functionality caused the vehicle to stall. The vehicle then went into neutral on it's own. I put the vehicle in park and it would not start (As if the vehicle had a dead battery or alternator issue). I charged the battery and it still would not start. I have read several other forums on this MY and other Honda Pilot's where the vehicle will stall at intersections/stopping points and refuse to start despite several efforts. I see this as a serious safety issue if in heavy traffic on a free way or working to clear an intersection. I believe this issue needs addressed. Honda also states that it can not turn off the Auto Start/Stop feature.

Jul 4, 2022

The engine does not restart on its own after the auto start-stop shuts it off at a stop sign or stoplight. This happens so frequently that I am forced to turn off the functionality every time I start the car for fear that it won’t start again at the stop light.

Jul 1, 2022

During the highway trip the auto idle functionality did not resume after a full stop. The car engine stopped and transmission switched to neutral. It took multiple attempts to re start the car in the middle of a highway.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic light and slightly releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle stalled. A message was displayed on the instrument panel on how to restart the vehicle after an Auto START/STOP failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the battery needed to be recharged. The battery was recharged however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,500.

The Auto Stop Start function is killing the car engine at intersections and on ramps. When the brake pedal is released, the car power stops and kills the engine. The car then has to be be in park and restarted - sometimes the car struggles to start. This has been happening for several months now - stating when the car hit about 30,000 miles - the car now has almost 38,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that after coming to a red light and stopping the vehicle, the fuel-saving feature malfunctioned and the vehicle would not immediately restart when releasing the brake pedal. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to properly accelerate. Occasionally, the vehicle would not start after being turned off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the battery but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The car stopped at a stoplight and the engine shut off from the normal start/stop function. When I tried to drive, the engine did not restart and the car was dead in the intersection. I was stranded for 2 hours due to unavailability of tow truck. It eventually was jumped, charged overnight, then was dead again the next day.

Jun 9, 2022

When the car is stopped it will sometimes turn off. It has happened at least twice in the last week - once in a drive through and once at a stop sign. The cat comes to a stop normally but when it is time to accelerate the engine turns off & the electrical starts acting weird. I have to power the car off and on a couple of times before I can get it going again. I took the car into Honda today and they could not find any problems with the car. I am scared that this will happen on the freeway during traffic and someone will come crashing into me.

Jun 8, 2022

Start / Stop and Engine failure. When I have the start/stop feature enabled there have been numerous occasions where the car has stalled and will not restart. This has happened in critical traffic situations and has almost caused multiple accidents and injury. In addition, the engine has cut off while driving through parking lots and stopping for pedestrians; during this time I need to reset the entire car to get it to start back up while stuck in the middle of the street. One other occasions the start stop has failed where the car does restart but the entire car resents and delays me from moving until this is finished. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealer to review and they say everything is working as designed.

Jun 8, 2022

Twice since purchasing the vehicle last year the automatic start/stop feature on the Honda has failed to restart the engine once we took our foot off the brake pedal. The first time was more than six months ago. We were at a light and the vehicle did not start after taking my foot off the brake when the light turned green. I tried putting it in park and then restarting the vehicle with the touch button but it didn't work. I tried with the remote start feature on the key and it would not start that way. At this point traffic was honking and going around us. I started pushing the park and neutral button to make sure it was in park, but nothing worked. I finally got the vehicle to restart by holding the start button on the dash for about 10-15 seconds. When I took it into the dealer a month or so later to have a recall taken care of I brought it up to the advisor and he asked if it has happened since then. I said no and he said it was probably something I did... The second time, was 5/11/2022 around 11 am. I was on the way to the Honda dealership to buy an oil filter and crush ring to change the oil. I had been driving for about a half an hour, stopped at a red light in front of the dealership and it happened again. Once again, traffic on the offramp started piling up, people were honking and going around on the shoulder. I tried the same procedure as before but it didn't work at first. I tried it a couple of times and the vehicle finally started. The vehicle has not been scanned with a scanner since the last time so there is probably a stored code if you need to verify this.

-The engine failed to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light with the Auto Start/Stop function. This has occurred on multiple occasions. -This started occurring in the summer of 2021. The first couple of times, the engine would stall but would immediately start up again after turning the back on. On one occasion, it stalled at a traffic light and it took about 30 seconds to get the engine back on. On or about 8/12/21, we were stopped at a traffic light at a busy intersection and the engine stalled and would not restart. We blocked a lane for over an hour until a tow truck was finally able to retrieve the car. The battery could not be jump started. -The car was taken to the Honda dealership and they said it was due to a faulty battery and replaced the battery. However, within 9 months of the replacement (currently), the car has started stalling again intermittently. Most of the time, we remember to turn the auto start-stop feature before we start driving, which seems to help, but on the occasions that we forget, it has stalled on at least 2 occasions. So far, we've been able to start the engine again quickly and keep moving. -There have been no warming lamps, message or other symptoms prior to these incidents. -We have been extremely disappointed with the manner that Honda used when we voiced these concerns in August 2021. They were very dismissive and did not seem to believe my report, despite the car only being less than 3 years old at the time of the first incident. When I stated that this posed a serious safety issue because a car could stall at any time, they stated it shouldn't pose a major threat because the incidents only happened when the vehicle was stopped and other vehicles would likely also be stopped, thereby eliminating any chance of impact. This is clearly an erroneous conclusion as my vehicle could easily come to a stop in heavy traffic on an interstate and other cars may not react quick enough to stop.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Auto START/STOP feature failed to operate as needed causing the vehicle to stall. The contact would restart the vehicle as an unknown message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions; however, the failure persisted. Recently, the contact stated that the vehicle had locked up after the failure occurred and the gear shifter would not move from the park(P) position. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

I stopped at a red light downtown. The auto engine stop/start did not start when the green light came. It was not possible to change gears or place the car in neutral. All lights and radio were working. Much anxiety because all other cars were honking. Could not get out of the car without risk of being hit by another car. Police came by and helped calling a two truck- $200 to tow to a parking place two blocks down the street. Car could not be place in neutral. Towed to a dealership, they replaced the battery. (surprising since all electrical was working fine) It has not happened again, but I am inactivating the automatic feature everytime I ride the car.

Having Crackling noise coming from the front dash of my car which interferes with the radio and the screen of my radio. Seems to be the electrical problem but if it’s shutting down the radio it’s possible that it could totally shut down my car while driving . It has become a safety issue. Break problem getting a pop/clicking noise in the front left & right tire has been put in shop 5 time never fixed.. they keep adding lubricant still have the same problem.. another safety hazard..

We own a 2019 Honda Pilot Touring (VIN [XXX]). We purchased our vehicle from Checkered Flag Honda in Norfolk, Virginia in June 2019. This vehicle has 32,096 and is still under the factory bumper to bumper warranty. We have been experiencing an issue with the systems Auto-Start Stop feature. The vehicle's engine stops at a red light, and when we release the brake, on numerous occasions the vehicle fails to restart the engine and stalls in the middle of the road. This has happened more than 15 times since we have owned the vehicle and puts us in an unsafe situation. We took our vehicle in for service at Checkered Flag on 08/12/2021 and explained the problem we were having to the service technicians. During that visit, they were not able to duplicate our engine stalling issue (see service record attached). Since 08/2021, this issue has continued to occur 6-8 times since August. The engine attempts to restart itself after letting off the brake or after a set period of time, however after attempting to crank the engine, the car beeps and has to be restarted manually. When attempting to restart the car manually, the car will not start the next 2-3 attempts, and will eventually restart after multiple presses of the engine start button. This is extremely unsafe as we are not able to move the vehicle, sometimes for a few minutes. According to the service records, the technicians performed a battery check, and the battery was fine. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While at a stop light the idle stop engaged but when I lift my foot off the brake to begin moving forward the auto-start failed to start and vehicle reported battery failure. Put Pilot in park and made 3-5 attempts to restart before successful. Cars nearly rear ended me and my children who were in the back.

Car stalls at a stoplight. Battery was completely depleted so it wouldn't restart. I couldn't even open the windows on a hot day b/c the battery was depleted. Honda dealer in Richmond California tells me they can't replicate the issue and all the diagnostic tools they have indicate no problems. This is a serious safety issue that must be addressed.

Sep 14, 2021

We have had ongoing issues with the satellite cutting out and losing signal (can’t use GPS and the clock just says 8:00 no matter what time) since about 20,000 miles. The vehicle now has about 32,000 miles on it. The larger issue happened a few weeks back. We were driving the car, came up to a 4 way stop and the car turned off. Never came back on. Couldn’t put it in neutral and get the car pushed off the road because the shifter is electrical. Honda roadside and Honda service department both told us there is no override so we had to sit in moving lanes until a tow truck could come. Had the car towed and the service department said it was the battery. They recharged the battery and sent us home. Said the “cells” tested fine so they could just recharge it. Less than 3 weeks later the car was parked at work and started fine. Went to the store and it was dead after a 10 minute errand. Got it jumped and drove to the service dept. It died again in the service dept receiving lane. They are again saying it is a battery issue and planning to replace the battery this time but said it could take 3-5 more times of having the issue before they know what is draining the battery. The largest safety issue is that the vehicle just turns off without notice while driving and there is no way to get it moved to a safe location because it can’t be put into neutral without power

Multiple vehicle battery failures. Vehicle fails to start after a vehicle is parked. Alternator is overtaxed and unable to maintain battery charge. Each time vehicle required “jump starting” Noted vehicle has approximately 13,000 miles. Battery passed “Honda “ test.

THE TOUCHSCREEN UNIT ON THIS CAR, WHICH CONTROLS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND CONTAINS THE BACKUP CAMERA, NAVIGATION, AND ALL SAFETY CONTROLS HAS NOT WORKED CORRECTLY SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. THE TOUCHSCREEN FREEZES WHILE DRIVING AND CANNOT BE USED FURTHER WITHOUT PARKING THE CAR, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR, AND THEN RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE. THIS USUALLY, BUT NOT ALWAYS, RESETS THE TOUCHSCREEN UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE HONDA DEALER EIGHT TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT DESPITE HAVING WORKED DIRECTLY WITH HONDA SUPPORT TECHNICIANS. THEY HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS WIRING HARNESSES AND DONE SOFTWARE UPDATES. ALL RECALL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON THE CAR BY THE DEALER, INCLUDING THE TWO RECALLS IN LATE 2020 THAT WERE INTENDED TO ADDRESS THESE VERY ISSUES, AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS. THE MOST RECENT INSTANCE WAS FEBRUARY 15, 2021. I SENT A CERTIFIED LETTER TO AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CORP., TORRANCE, CA ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 (AND RECEIVED USPS CONFIRMATION OF DELIVERY) DESCRIBING THESE ISSUES AND ASKING THEM TO TAKE THE CAR BACK. MY 2019 PILOT ELITE HAS 16,400 MILES ON IT JUST STARTED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO WHERE I WOULD GET TO 2425 MILES AN HOUR IN THE CAR WITH LUNCH OR LURCH IT HAPPENS ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN I GET TO 30 SOME MILES AN HOUR IT ALL LURCHER LUNCH. LAST FRIDAY I MADE A LEFT TURN ONTO A MAJOR STREET AND WENT TO ACCELERATE IN THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE IT SLOW DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE AND PUT MY FLASHERS ON I HAD TO WAIT A WHILE PROBABLY A MINUTE OR SO AND THEN I COULD PRESS MY FOOT ON THE EXCELERATOR AND GO FORWARD. THIS LURCHING OR LUNGING DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME IT COULD BE ON A CITY STREET WHEN IT HAPPENS IT CAN BE WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE TO GET ON THE EXPRESSWAY I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO MY MECHANIC AT HONDA AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS RECALL THAT I MIGHT'VE MISSED OR THERE'S SOME THING THAT SOMEONE KNOWS I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO.

Sep 29, 2020

THE CENTER CONTROL PANEL WAS RECALLED DUE TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIR. NEVERTHELESS, THE CONTROL PANEL CONTINUES TO SPORADICALLY SHUT DOWN WHILE THE CAR IS IN OPERATION. IT TYPICALLY STARTS WITH AUDIBLE CLICKS AND INTERMITTENT RADIO RECEPTION. I WILL THEN GET MESSAGES SUCH AS 'CHECK TUNER,' AUDIO SIGNAL LOST, 'NO AUDIO CONNECTION TO FM,' 'NETWORK COMMUNICATION LOST,' AND 'MOST NETWORK LOST.' THE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO SHUTDOWN, GO COMPLETELY BLACK, AND THEN REBOOT. AT TIMES THE PANEL IS BLACK FOR 10 MINUTES OR MORE. SOMETIMES THE REBOOTS ARE A CYCLE OF CONTINUING EVENTS FOR MY ENTIRE COMMUTE (ABOUT 35 MINUTES) OF JUST ONE REBOOT AFTER ANOTHER. DURING THIS TIME, THE BACKUP CAMERA, RADIO, AND CONNECTIVITY TO MY PHONE DO NOT WORK. IN FACT, UNLESS I TURN OFF THE BLUETOOTH ON MY PHONE, IT WILL MOMENTARILY CONNECT TO MY PHONE WHEN IT REBOOTS AND THEN IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECT ANY CALL I AM ON BECAUSE THE SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN AGAIN. I HAVE UPLOADED 3 PICTURES OF EXAMPLES OF MY SCREEN. (THE LAST PICTURE IS JUST A BLANK SCREEN). I HAVE A VIDEO OF AN EVENT, BUT IT COULD NOT BE UPLOADED.

I PURCHASED BRAND NEW ELITE 2019 PILOT IN APRIL OF 2019. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE I HAD HORRIBLE STATIC COMING THROUGH ALL SPEAKERS, AT TIMES VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, RANDOMLY THE VEHICLE WOULD SENSE A COLLISION EVEN WHEN I WAS ONLY ONE ON ROAD, WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON RANDOMLY AND OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES WOULD OCCUR, BRAKE LIGHT FLASHES RANDOMLY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT ALL. . I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THREE TIMES NOW AND EVERY TIME I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO TAKE VIDEOS OF IT WHEN IT OCCURS. THIS IS INSANE AS MY CELL PHONE IS DISABLED WHILE I AM DRIVING. SO, BASICALLY THEY ARE ASKING ME TO GET PHONE, ENABLE IT AND TAKE A VIDEO ALL WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH THE VEHICLE DOING ALL SORTS OF UNSAFE THINGS. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO BEING IN A NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE RANDOM COLLISION BRAKING OCCURING. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY AS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL DRIVING IT. THIS HAS OCCURED ON THE FREEWAY, HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. I ALWAYS DRIVE IN A LANE WHERE I CAN PULL TO THE SIDE IF SOMETHING OCCURS. I DID NOT PAY OVER 50,000 FOR A VEHICLE TO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING. I AM TIRED OF HONDA TELLING ME THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. BASICALLY IMPLYING THAT I AM CRAZY AND THIS DOES NOT OCCUR UNLESS I CAN GET A VIDEO OF IT WHEN IT IS HAPPENING. ALL SERVICES HAVE BEEN DONE AT THE MORGAN HILL, CA 95037 HONDA DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALL PAPERWORK ON IT BUT IT IS CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP NOW AGAIN AND THE PAPERWORK DOCUMENTATION IS BEING ATTACHED AND THEY HAVE RECORDS IN THEIR FILES AS WELL. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE BUYING THE PILOT IN 2019. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM FREEZES UP AND STOPS WORKING. THE USE OF THE BACKUP CAMERA, RADIO, GPS, AND ANY OF THE FEATURES ON THE SCREEN ARE NOT USABLE. WE NOTICE THIS HAPPENS A LOT WHEN WE TAKE FAMILY TRIPS. THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT WE DO ON TRIPS IS PACK THE CAR OPENING AND CLOSING THE TRUNK AND DOORS. TO GET THE SYSTEM TO WORK AGAIN YOU HAVE TO TAKE PARTS OFF TO GET TO THE CARS MAIN BATTERY AND DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TO RESTART THE SYSTEM. WHEN THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM FREEZES YOU HEAR A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE OVER THE SPEAKERS LIKE THE ELECTRONICS ARE SHORTING OUT. IS THIS COMMON WITH THE 2019 HONDA PILOT? STOPING ON TRIPS TO REMOVE CAR PARTS TO GET TO THE BATTERY IS FRUSTRATING. I'M WORRIED IF THIS COULD LEAD TO A CAR FIRE WHILE MY WIFES DRIVING WITH THE KIDS.

OUR 2019 HONDA PILOT HAS BEEN MAKING STATIC LIKE POPCORN POPPING SOUNDS FOR SOME TIME. MY WIFE WENT INTO LABOR AND WE WERE RUSHING TO THE HOSPITAL IN THE POURING RAIN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE POPPING SOUND STARTED AGAIN AND ALL THE ELECTRONICS SHUT DOWN. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE SPEED, NAVIGATION ETC. AND IT FELT QUITE DANGEROUS. WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WE WERE TOLD THAT A RESET HAD BEEN PERFORMED AND ALL THE ELECTRONICS SHOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY. JUST THIS PAST FRIDAY, I WAS DRIVING MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AFTER THE ISSUE WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED, AND THE POPPING STARTED AGAIN, I ASKED HER TO TAKE OUR HER PHONE TO VIDEO THE SOUNDS, AND MOMENTS LATER SHE GOT A SECOND VIDEO OF ALL THE ELECTRONICS SHUTTING DOWN AGAIN. MALFUNCTION BACKUP CAMERA, INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM, ODOMETER DISPLAY: SINCE AROUND 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, VEHICLES ODOMETER DISPLAY AND INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM DISPLAY BLACKS OUT AND MALFUNCTIONS DURING DRIVING ALMOST DAILY. ALONG WITH THIS THE SOUND SYSTEM CRACKLES. IT ONLY RESETS ONCE THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY OFF. THE MALFUNCTION IS PRESENT WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. ALSO, DURING THIS TIME WE ARE UNABLE TO USE THE BACK UP CAMERA AS NO DISPLAY IS SEEN ON THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM. THIS HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE NEAR MISS FROM ACCIDENTS DURING DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAYS (AS DRIVER CAN GET DISTRACTED/SCARED FROM THE CRACKLING SOUNDS) AND BACKING UP. ALSO WHEN THE ODOMETER GOES BLACK, WE ARE UNABLE TO SEE THE SPEED OF THE CAR HENCE INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF EXCEEDING SPEED LIMIT UNKNOWINGLY.

PURCHASED VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2019. AROUND MARCH 2019 THE SPEAKERS BEGAN TO MAKE CRACKLING AND POPPING NOISES AT RANDOM TIMES - BUT COULD RELIABLY BE REPRODUCED WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS. SOON THEREAFTER, THE MAIN DISPLAY WOULD INFREQUENTLY POP AND GO BLACK, THEN COME BACK ON. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO OUR DEALER IN JUNE 2019, OBTAINED A LOANER, AND AFTER THE FIRST DAY, THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE AND WANTED TO KEEP IT LONGER. ON THE THIRD DAY, I PICKED THE CAR UP AND RETURNED THE LOANER AS WE HAD TO TRAVEL. THE DEALER SAID THEY STILL COULD NOT REPLICATE AND THAT THE ANY NOISE HAPPENING WHEN THE DOORS LOCKED WAS NORMAL. SINCE JUNE 2016, THE CRACKLING AND POPPING CONTINUES, THE BLACK OUT CONTINUES AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE NOISE HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY, IN MOTION, ON ALL KINDS OF STREETS AND SPEEDS. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE PHONE IS CONNECTED VIA BLUETOOTH AND WHEN IT IS NOT. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE MORE VIOLENT WHEN AT LARGER INTERSECTIONS (I.E. LOUD POPS AND BLACK SCREEN HAS BEEN NOTED WHEN AT LARGE TRAFFIC LIGHT INTERSECTIONS AND ON FREEWAYS WITH OVERHEAD SIGNS THAT MAY CONTAIN A RADIO FREQUENCY TRANSMITTER). THE BLACK SCREEN HAPPENS WHEN USING THE NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM AND DIRECTIONS ARE LOST, IT ALSO IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER AS IT CAN BE QUITE LOUD AND SUDDEN.

'RADIO UNAVAILABLE' MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON TOP OF THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN AND ON SOON AFTER A 'NETWORK COMMUNICATION LOST' APPEARS IN THE CENTER OF THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE WHOLE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ALONG WITH THE DASH BOARD DISPLAY REBOOTS ITSELF. DURING THE REBOOT NO SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE,ETC IS SHOWING JUST A BLANK BLACK SCREEN (ALL THIS WHILE STILL GOING 25-30 MPH). AFTER REBOOT SPEEDOMETER IS OFF FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE IT COMES ON BUT THE SPEED IS NOT ACCURATE. SOUND TO RADIO SOON COMES BACK ON AS WELL AFTER REBOOT. AFTER 20-30 SECONDS THE SPEEDOMETER BECOMES ACCURATE AGAIN. HAPPENED A SECOND TIME DURING THE SAME TRIP WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE ISSUE STARTED WITH CRACKING/POPPING IN THE SPEAKERS. WE THEN GET A WARNING SAYING "CHECK TUNER" AND THEN THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AND THE DISPLAY BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL SHUTDOWN. WE LOSE ALL SAFETY INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AS WELL AS THE SPEEDOMETER. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY DURING DRIVING AND MEANS WE HAVE NO WAY OF TELLING HOW FAST WE ARE GOING. USUALLY THE SYSTEM STARTS BACK UP. HOWEVER, ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM HAS NOT RESTARTED EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS SHUT DOWN. ON THE MOST RECENT OCCASION BOTH THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AND THE DISPLAY BEHIND THE DASH HAVE NOT RETURNED EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS RESTARTED. I CANNOT GET THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND CURRENTLY HAVE NO WAY TO TELL WHAT SPEED I AM GOING AS THE SPEEDOMETER LOCATED IN THE DASH DISPLAY IS OUT. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED IN ALL DIFFERENT SITUATIONS. IT HAS OCCURRED WITH OUR CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, CITY STREETS, AND PARKED. IT HAS EVEN OCCURRED WHILE BACKING UP. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE, ESPECIALLY ON FREEWAYS OR ANYWHERE, I CANNOT SEE MY SPEED AT ALL, WHICH SCARES ME ON SCHOOL ZONES AND FREEWAY DRIVING. MY CAR IS UNDEPENDABLE, FEATURES I PAID EXTRA FOR DON'T WORK. I PAY OVER $500 A MONTH FOR A CAR I CANNOT DRIVE OFTEN. I HAVE A LITTLE OVER 4000 MILES ON IT AND SCARED TO DRIVE IT OUT OF LOCAL AREA AND THIS IS HURTING MY WORK AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR MY CHORIC ILL SON. I BOUGHT THIS CAR A AUTOSOURCE IN WOODS CROSS IN JULY 2009, MINOR WRECK THEY SAID TO FRONT FENDER AREA MADE IT A SALVAGE CAR, THIS SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT'S BEEN IN SHOP TOTAL ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND STILL SAME ISSUES. UPDATES AND EVERYTHING FAIL TO FIX ISSUES. 100K WARRANTY I BOUGHT WITH IT HAS NOT BEEN HONORED, I HAS COST ME $2800 SO FAR TO TRY AND FIX THESE ISSUES.

THE CULPRIT IS HONDA INTEGRATION WITH APPLE'S CARPLAY. SEE THREAD LINK BELOW WHICH INDICATES THAT IT IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. THE FIX TO THE ISSUE I HAD TO DO A HARD RESET THE SYSTEM BY REMOVING AND REINSERTING THE PANEL'S FUSE. THREAD: HTTPS://WWW.PILOTEERS.ORG/THREADS/DISPLAY-AUDIO-CONSTANTLY-ON-IN-2019-PILOT.159521/

NO MORE NEAR ACCIDENT CAUSING FALSE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING OCCURRENCES. THE FOLLOWING OCCUR ON A DAILY BASIS: RADIO CRACKLES AND POPS. THE RADIO DISPLAY GOES BLANK AND WILL NOT WORK FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TO HOURS. THE FOLLOWING OCCUR SPORADICALLY: THE INSTRUMENT PANEL (INCLUDING SPEEDOMETER) GOES BLANK WHILE DRIVING. THE RADIO AND REAR VIEW CAMERA SWITCH BACK AND FORTH REPEATEDLY (I HAVE VIDEO). MULTIPLE MESSAGES POP UP WHEN THE RADIO ISN'T WORKING. THE FAN SPEED BUTTON CAN TRIGGER THE RADIO SETTINGS. THE FRONT HEATER DISPLAY GOES BLANK. THIS OCCURRED ONCE: I WAS DRIVING UP A VERY SMALL INCLINE ON A DRY ROAD AT 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT COULD GO. THE VSA INDICATOR LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. I HAD TO STOP, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, STOP THE ENGINE AND THEN RESTART THE ENGINE. I'M NOT SURE IF THAT IS ELECTRICAL OR AN ENGINE PROBLEM. I'VE TRIED TO NARROW THE CONDITIONS (RAINY, COLD, STATIONARY, OR MOBILE) DOWN BUT THERE IS NO PATTERN.

OUR 2019 HONDA PILOT HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES WHICH STARTED AROUND 11K MILES, THE DASH LIGHTS WILL GO OUT, CRACKLING NOISES COME FROM THE SPEAKERS, THE BACKUP CAMERA'S GO OUT, RADIO QUITS WORKING, PHONE SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK, INABILITY TO TURN ON OR OFF SAFETY FEATURES. AT TIMES ON CURVES THE VEHICLE WILL THINK A CAR COMING TOWARDS US IS HEADING INTO OUR CAR AND WILL APPLY THE BRAKES STRONGLY. WE ARE AFRAID THE LIGHTS OR BRAKING SYSTEM WILL NEXT BE AFFECTED BASED ON OTHER COMPLAINTS WE HAVE READ ABOUT BY OTHER OWNERS. HONDA ADMITS THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AND SAY THE ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON IT. YET THEY CONTINUE TO SELL NEW CARS TO CONSUMERS KNOWING FULL WELL THE PILOTS HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUES WHICH COULD LEAD TO UN-SAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS OR ACCIDENTS. ASKED THEM TO BUY BACK THE CAR WHICH THEY REFUSED TO DO AS THEY SAID "THE CAR IS STILL DRIVE ABLE". I AM AFRAID TO HAVE MY WIFE DRIVE THE CAR. I AM PURSUING OTHER MEANS OF TAKING ACTION AGAINST HONDA.

RANDOMLY THE CENTER COUNSEL DISPLAY WILL GO BLANK AS WELL AS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DISPLAY WHICH CONTAINS THE SPEEDOMETER. ALSO FAILING AT THE SAME TIME IS THE DVD PLAYER. WE ALSO EXPERIENCE A 'POPPING' NOISE THROUGH THE SPEAKERS, EVEN WITH AUDIO SYSTEM TURNED OFF. THIS USUALLY IS WHAT HAPPENS FIRST, THEN ERROR MESSAGES (FOR EXAMPLE: 'RADIO UNAVAILABLE', 'NO AUDIO CONNECTION FOR FM', 'NETWORK COMMUNICATION LOST', 'CHECK TUNER'), THEN SCREEN GOES BLANK. WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE DRIVER IS DRIVING, THEY ARE UNABLE TO ACTIVATE OR DEACTIVATE SPECIFIC SAFETY CONTROLS INCLUDING LANE KEEP ASSIST, CRUISE CONTROL, AUTOMATIC BRAKING ETC. THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING WARNING IS ALSO LOST WHEN THE DISPLAY GOES OUT, AS WELL AS THE SPEEDOMETER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS , BOTH DISPLAY SCREENS TURN OFF AND GO BLACK, WHICH ARE HUGE SAFETY CONCERNS. FROM THE CENTER DISPLAY, WE LOSE THE BACK UP CAMERA, RADIO, NAVIGATION, DVD PLAYER AND ABILITY TO MAKE HANDS FREE PHONE CALLS AMONG OTHER THINGS. THIS CAN OCCUR DAILY, EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN, OR SPORATIC AND NOT HAPPEN FOR A FEW DAYS AT A TIME. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN APRIL 2019. PROBLEM BEGAN IN THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST 2019, EXACT DATE UNKNOWN. PROBLEMS OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, CITY STREETS, HIGHWAY AND AT ANY SPEED AND ANY TIME.

PURCHASED A 2019 PILOT ELITE IN FEBRUARY AND IN MAY ISSUES STARTED WITH A CRACKING NOISE THAT SEEMED TO COME FROM THE SPEAKERS. IT THEN BECAME ISSUES WITH THE INFOTAINMENT, SPEEDOMETER AND DVD PLAYER BLACKING OUT WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP REPLACED A WIRING HARNESS, THIS FIXED THE ISSUE FOR A MONTH THEN IT ALL RETURNED. NEXT THEY REPAIRED SOME CONNECTORS, THIS FIX LASTED A COUPLE MONTHS WITH INTERMITTENT OCCASIONS OF BLACKOUT. NOW THE BLACKING OUT IS HAPPENING ALMOST DAILY AGAIN. THE DEALER IS NOW BEING TOLD TO REPLACE THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER WHICH IS BACK ORDERED FROM HONDA. ALL TOLD THIS VEHICLE HAS SPENT > 30 DAYS IN THE REPAIR SHOP TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUES. PURCHASED PILOT ON APRIL 2019. STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ON JUNE 2019 (MOVING AND STOPPED- CITY AND HIGHWAY). SYSTEM KEEPS SHUTTING DOWN, DISCONNECTING PHONE CALLS, PLAYS MUSIC AS IF LOOSES CONNECTION (FM, AM AND SAT). THE LATEST ISSUE IS THAT IT SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY AND TURNS BLACK DISPLAYING "NO NETWORK CONNECTION". THIS ISSUES ARE DISTRACTING AND MAKE THIS VEHICLE UNSAFE UNTIL FIXED. AS WE APPROACH THE FORTH APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM HONDA ADVISED ME THAT THE EARLIEST THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WILL BE IN IS DECEMBER 11. MEANWHILE I HAVE AN EXPENSIVE DRIVEWAY ORNAMENT BECAUSE I REFUSE TO LET MY FAMILY TRAVEL IN THAT CAR.

Nov 22, 2019

I CANNOT TURN IT ON BY PUSHING THE POWER BUTTON. I WENT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND COMPLAINT ABOUT THE POPPING NOISE BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE IT UNTIL IT GOT WORSE. PURCHASED 2019 HONDA PILOT ELITE IN FEBRUARY 2019. NOTICED A POPPING SOUND WHILE DRIVING IT HOME THAT SOUNDED LIKE SAND OR ROCKS SLIGHTLY AMPLIFIED HITTING THE WINDSHIELD INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAS CONTINUED AND OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS IT BECAME APPARENT THE SOUND WAS NOT ACTUALLY FROM THE WINDSHIELD BUT ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPEAKERS/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN AUGUST A LOUD CRACKLING SOUND INTERRUPTING THE SATELLITE RADIO STARTED HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY FOLLOWING PERIODS OF THE ORIGINAL POPPING SOUNDS. BY OCTOBER, THAT LOUD POP HAS BEEN FOLLOWED BY A COMPLETE BLACKOUT OF THE SYSTEM SCREEN (BOTH) INCLUDING THE SPEED, ETC. FOLLOWED AFTER 30 SECONDS - A MINUTE BY THE SYSTEM RESTARTED. PRIOR TO THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL CASES OF APPLE CAR PLAY SHUTTING DOWN DURING PHONE CALLS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN. I HAVE 27,000+ MILES AS OF 10/15/19, DRIVE A LOT AND NO DEALER CLOSE BY AND ALSO DEPEND DAILY ON HAVING THE VEHICLE. CONTACTED THE DEALER CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM THIS WEEK AND THEY ADMITTED HAVING A PILOT IN THE SHOP NOW WITH SIMILAR SYMPTOMS THAT THEY HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR FIX YET. SUGGESTED I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND LEAVE IT WITHOUT THEM KNOW HOW LONG IT MIGHT BE. AGREED I WOULD CALL BACK AND SEE WHAT THEY WERE ABLE TO DO ON THE PILOT THEY ALREADY HAD IN THEIR SHOP. HAVE SINCE THEM FOUND NUMEROUS SIMILAR REPORTS WITH 2019 PILOTS ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS WITH ALL REPORTING HONDA NOT ADMITTING TO A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM AND ALSO NO PERMANENT REPAIRS. PROBLEMS HAVE ALWAYS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS AT FULL SPEED. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED BACKUP CAMERAS GOING OUT BUT I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM EXCEPT WHEN DRIVING AT FULL SPEED BUT EXPECT THAT BACKUP CAMERA WOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN OUT HAD I BEEN STOPPED AT THE TIME OF THE PROBLEM. I THINK HONDA SENSING SAFETY FEATURES NOT AFFECTED.

WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE OR DEACTIVATE SPECIFIC SAFETY CONTROLS INCLUDING LANE KEEP ASSIST, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND AUTOMATIC BRAKING. 1ST PROBLEM...VIDEO DISPLAY WORKED ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. 1ST VISIT, WOLFCHASE HONDA UPDATED SOFTWARE, PROBLEM CONTINUED. 2ND VISIT THEY REPLACED VIDEO UNIT. 2ND PROBLEM...SPEAKERS STARTED MAKING CRACKLING NOISE. WENT ON THEIR SITE TO MAKE APPT AND RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT OT A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT ELECTRICAL ISSUE (OR A FLEET CAMPAIGN NOT SURE WHICH). THEY UPDATED SOFTWARE ON THAT 3RD VISIT. SPEAKER PROBLEM WORSENED AFTER THAT VISIT AND SPEEDOMETER DISPLAY AND VIDEO (STEREO SYSTEM, NAVIGATION ETC) WOULD BLANK OUT WHILE DRIVING. SYSTEM WOULD GENERALLY RESET BUT ONLY AFTER 30 SECONDS OF NON VISIBILITY TO MY SPEED, CRUISE CONTROL STATUS ETC.. TOOK IT BACK FOR 4TH VISIT. THEY STATED THEY FOUND AN ISSUE WITH TAILGATE SENSOR. PICKED IT UP ON FRIDAY OCT 4TH AND IT STARTED MAKING THE CRACKLING NOISE IN THE SPEAKERS AGAIN YESTERDAY, OCT 5TH. LAST TIME, IT EVENTUALLY GOT WORSE UNTIL SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. PLAN TO MAKE ANOTHER APPT (MY 5TH) THIS WEEK. CRACLKING NOISE OCCURS WHEN STOPPED, WHEN DRIVING, WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF (AFTER BEING ON). VIDEO AND SPEEDOMETER DISPLAY STOP WORKING WHEN DRIVING.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON AUGUST 10, 2019. WITHIN 2 WEEKS THE RADIO BEGAN MAKING A POPPING AND CRACKING SOUND THAT SOUNDED LIKE ROCKS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. THIS SOUND HAPPENS DAILY WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. ABOUT ONE WEEK AFTER THIS HAPPENED, THE DVD PLAYER WOULD STOP WORKING AND THE SOUND FROM THE RADIO WOULD BEGIN TO COMPLETELY GO OUT. IT WOULD COME BACK ON EVENTUALLY, SOMETIMES AS MUCH AS 30 - 45 MINUTES LATER. AFTER ABOUT TWO WEEKS, THESE PROBLEMS CONTINUED AND THE SCREEN FOR NAVIGATION, ALONG WITH THE SPEEDOMETER SCREEN WOULD COMPLETELY GO BLACK WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. IT RESTARTS AFTER ABOUT 10 - 20 SECONDS. IN TWO INSTANCES THE REAR BACKUP CAMERA HAS SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS BACKING UP AS WELL. I HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO TWO DEALERSHIPS INCLUDING THE ONE WHERE I MADE THE PURCHASE. I AM SCHEDULED TO TAKE IT IN TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE TOMORROW.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN MARCH OF 2019, BY MAY MY DASH/RADIO WENT OUT. FIRST IT STARTED WHEN BLUETOOTH WAS CONNECTED, IT WOULD SOUND LIKE A CRACKING NOISE, LIKE STATIC. THIS IS ALL WHILE VEHICLE IS ON AND IN DRIVING MODE. IT WAS A SCARY SOUND LIKE THAT OF AN ELECTRICAL FIRE WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AT ANY SECOND. ULTIMATELY, BOTH DASH AND RADIO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND DIDN'T COME BACK ON. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR ALMOST A MONTH AND FINALLY GAVE IT BACK AND STATED THAT THE WIRE HARNESS WAS LOOSE, OR NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AND THEY HAD RE DONE IT PROPERLY. ALMOST 2 MONTHS LATER THE CRACKING NOISES STARTED AGAIN, AND WOULD SPONTANIOUSLY CUT OFF THE BLUETOOTH. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER THE DASH WOULD RE START ( SHUT OFF AND THEN BACK ON) BLUETOOTH WOULD NOT CONNECT AND SAME NOISES ALL OVER AGAIN. NOW MY DASH TURNS ON SOMETIMES AND THE RADIO DOES NOT CONNECT AND IS A BLACK SCREEN. IT DOES TURN ON SOMETIMES, BUT THIS IS A NEW CAR AND IT'S VERY ANNOYING. HONDA WAS NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND I HAVE HEARD SIMILAR ISSUES FROM OTHER OWNERS OF MY SAME VEHICLE.

THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES AND THEY HAVE HAPPENED MANY TIMES - ALL RELATED TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SPEEDOMETER AND INFOTAINMENT DEFECTS. THE INFOTAINMENT AND DASH DISPLAY INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS INCLUDES THE SPEEDOMETER, ALL SAFETY FEATURES, CRUISE CONTROL SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE AUDIO WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND I WILL HAVE NO AUDIO FOR HOURS AT A TIME. ALSO THERE ARE POPS AND CRACKLES OUT OF THE SPEAKERS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DETAILED DOCUMENTATION FOR THESE ISSUES INCLUDING VIDEOS OF THE ISSUES HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ISSUES GET WORSE, NOT BETTER.

THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED NOW TWICE WHILE DRIVING. ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AND AGAIN YESTERDAY AFTER TURNING RIGHT ONTO A BUSY NARROW ROAD. THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND SCREEN DISPLAY HAS BLACKED OUT AND BECOME NON-FUNCTIONAL WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 6-7 TIMES (NO RADIO, NAVIGATION, OR ANYTHING FUNCTIONS WHEN THIS OCCURS). THE CAR HAS HAD TO BE TURNED OFF IN ORDER RESET THE SCREEN AND FUNCTION AGAIN. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR NARROW COUNTRY ROAD. LASTLY, THE CAR HAS BREAKED UNNECESSARILY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DESPITE ADJUSTING THE SETTINGS TO NOT BE OVERLY SENSITIVE. ONCE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP UNNECESSARILY, THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. IT HAS STARTED BREAKING UNNECESSARILY WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND ON A COUNTRY ROAD WHEN NO VEHICLES OR ANYTHING WERE AROUND. THESE SITUATIONS HAVE BEEN SCARY AND UNSETTLING.

I HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW FAST I AM GOING OR IF THERE ARE ANY EMERGENCY WARNINGS. I HAVE TAKEN TO HENNESSY HONDA IN WOODSTOCK, GA FOUR TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. OUR "NETWORK" COMPONENTS WERE NOT WORKING. AT HIGH SPEEDS, THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT BRAKE PROPERLY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE "BRAKE" SENSOR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. UPON TAKING TO DEALER FOR SERVICE, SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THIS "NETWORK" ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON OTHER CARS. STRONGLY RECOMMEND AN IMMEDIATE INQUIRY TO THIS ISSUE AS IT AFFECTS THE SAFETY FEATURES TOUTED BY THE CAR MANUFACTURER, HONDA. THE SOLUTION IS TO RECONNECT THE NETWORK COMPONENTS, THIS HAS STILL NOT RESOLVED OUR ISSUE.

HONDA INFOTAINMENT ISSUE: PURCHASED A NEW 2019 PILOT (TOURING) WITH 22 MILES ON IT ON 22 JULY 2019. ON 26 JULY 2019 WHILE DRIVING ON I-10 FROM PHOENIX THE AUDIO QUIT AND THE SCREEN WENT BLANK. ON 5 AUG 2019 SAME PROBLEM REOCCURRED. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED IT AGAIN. FROM 5 AUG TO TODAY (11 AUG) THE SYSTEM HAS OPERATED LIKE IT SHOULD. I DID HAVE THE ABILITY TO SEE WHAT SPEED I WAS GOING AND OTHER GAUGES WORKED. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS THAT EVEN THOSE FEATURES WENT BLANK FOR OTHERS.DRIVING FROM TUCSON AZ TO SAN DIEGO, CA TOMORROW AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS DEFECT HAPPENING WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE ON I-8! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR AN AUTO MANUFACTURER TO NOT LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THE STATUS OF A FIX IS AND WHEN TO EXPECT A RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS ARTICLES AND EXPERIENCED IT MYSELF, THE DEALERS ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. HOW COULD PEOPLE INVOLVED ON THE CAR BUSINESS NOT KNOW OF MAJOR PROBLEM THAT 1000S OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING, IT IS LIKE THE HONDA CORP PASSED THE WORD TO PLAY DUMB. I TRULY LIKE THE HONDA PILOT, TRADED IN A 2016 EXL FOR THIS NEW CAR. WOULD REALLY LIKE FOR THE CAR TO PREFORM AS ADVERTISED FOR MY (FAMILY) COMFORT AND SAFETY. SAFETY BEING THE MAIN CONCERN HERE.

THEIR INSTRUCTION IS TO HOLD THE STOP/START BUTTON DOWN,UNTIL THE CAR STOPS AND THEN START THE VEHICLE,IF YOU CAN, AND HEAD FOR THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL (INCLUDING THE SPEEDOMETER) WILL SHUT OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES, AND THE REBOOT. THIS RESULT IN THE INABILITY TO TELL EXACTLY HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THIS WILL OCCUR UNDER MULTIPLE CONDITIONS WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE, AND IS NOT DEPENDENT ON THE TYPE OF ROAD BEING DRIVEN ON. ADDITIONALLY, THE CENTER CONSOLE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN, WHICH ALSO SERVES AS THE SCREEN FOR THE BACK UP CAMERA WILL SHUT OFF, FOR VARYING AMOUNTS OF TIME, RENDERING THE ABILITY TO SEE/USE THE BACK UP CAMERA USELESS. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, BOTH SYSTEMS SHUTTING OFF AT THE SAME TIME, WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, LEAVING ME WITH THE UNABLE TO SAFELY GAUGE HOW I AM OPERATING THE VEHICLE.

RECURRENT PROBLEM. STARTED WHEN VEHICLE WAS 2 MONTHS OLD. TAKEN CAR TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. NO SOLUTION. WHEN IN MOTION (HIGHWAYS, CITY ROADS) SPEAKERS MAKE A SPARKLING SOUND FOLLOWED BY THE ENTERTAINMENT SCREEN ( NAVIGATION, HANDHELD PHONE, REAR VISION...) AND THE ODOMETER SCREEN (SPEED DISPLAY, ALL THE SIGNALS) BECAME DEAD. IT COULD LAST FEW SECONDS AND REBOOT BACK OR UP TO 30 MINUTES. IN A 15 MILE JOURNEY , COULD HAPPEN AROUND 15 TIMES. SO THE DANGEROUS SITUATION IS THAT I AM DRIVING WITH NO IDEA HOW MUCH SPEED I AM GOING, I AM NOT ABLE TO USE MY HANDHELD PHONE (ALSO VERY IMPORTANT TO ME AS A BUSY DOCTOR TRYING TO ANSWER EMERGENCY CALLS), NO NAVIGATION SYSTEM AVAILABLE, THE REAR VISION CAMERA BECOMES USELESS WITH A BLANK SCREEN... I LEARNT FROM THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND NO SOLUTION HAVE BEEN FOUND. PROBLEM HAPPENS IN MOTION AND ALSO OR WHEN CAR IS PARKED. MY CAR IS 4 MONTHS OLD AND HAS SPENT SEVERAL DAYS AT THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND AT THE LAST VISIT I WAS GIVEN A REPORT IN WHICH STATES THAT HONDA IS STUDYING A NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE. I DON'T WANT RISK MY FAMILY OR OTHERS LIFE'S SO WAITING IS NOT AN OPTION. THIS IS NOT JUST ONE INCIDENT , IT KEEPS RECURRING WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE HONDA DEALER IN NOVEMBER 2018. WHILE DRIVING, BOTH HIGHWAY AND AROUND TOWN, LOUD CRACKLING WOULD OCCUR THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. THEN BOTH THE NAVIGATION SCREEN AND/OR THE SPEEDOMETER SCREEN WOULD GO COMPLETELY BLACK. THE MESSAGE "NETWORK CONNECTION LOST" WOULD SOMETIMES APPEAR. ALL BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY AND SPEAKER USAGE WAS LOST. THIS OCCURS ALMOST EVERY DAY WHILE COMMUTING. CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO HONDA SERVICE TWICE FOR REPAIRS.
