The contact owns a 2020 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving 25-35 MPH and passing a vehicle on the left side of the vehicle, the vehicle stopped independently. The contact stated that the failure occurred while another vehicle was driving on the lane that was on the right side of the vehicle. The brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving, the message "Emissions Control" was displayed intermittently, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an Auto Part store, where DTC: P219B was retrieved, and the contact was informed that the fuel injectors had failed. The contact stated that the message "Emissions Control" would be displayed when the fuel tank was less than half full. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

I am reporting a safety defect in my 2020 Honda Pilot EX-L ~86,300 miles. The rearview camera and electrical/infotainment system intermittently fail, showing static, disconnecting Bluetooth, and sometimes leaving the camera blank. This creates a serious safety risk when reversing, driving in tight spaces, or transporting my children. These issues began within the first year of ownership (2020–2021) and continued after Recall 23-047, during which cables were replaced and the system later rewired in August 2023. Despite these repairs, the defects persist. The dealership Pohanka Honda Fredericksburg confirmed the faults multiple times but now refuses to repair, quoting over $3,000. The vehicle has also experienced three dead batteries since 2020, leaving me stranded multiple times, including once during out-of-state travel. There were no warning lights for the battery failures, but infotainment and camera issues were noticeable immediately. The vehicle has been out of service for approximately three cumulative months, impairing reliability and my ability to perform daily work and family responsibilities. These defects have significantly impaired the use, value, and safety of the vehicle, especially given my responsibilities as a single mother, caregiver to a blind parent, and emergency department practitioner. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and reviewed by Honda corporate. I am seeking a proper remedy for a federally mandated safety feature (rear camera, FMVSS 111). The vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request. This complaint documents ongoing safety risks, repeated battery failures, and unresolved recall-related defects that began under warranty. Honda’s failure to properly repair these defects continues to create unsafe driving conditions and a serious risk of injury to myself, my passengers, and the public.
Since I purchased the vehicle it has had a miss, lunging forward, a lag and stall. Appears to be transmission related. Also, all lights related to the CMS suddenly came on. Car only has 59,000 miles and 5 years old and shouldn’t have these kinds of issues. The transmission problem has been from the start…. Two years now. Probably why original owner traded. From what dealer said these are common problems with this vehicle, should definitely be part of a recall. Wanted 3000. to correct issues. Below date is estimate since problems started soon after purchase and have continued. Ongoing issue.
Lane Assist Camera Failure (Part #36160-TG7-A63) Vehicle Information: Make/Model/Year: 2020 Honda Pilot EX-L Failed Component: Lane Assist Camera, Part #36160-TG7-A63 Safety Issue Description: The lane assist camera has failed, disabling multiple critical safety systems, including: Adaptive Cruise Control Lane Keeping Assist Collision Mitigation Braking System Road Departure Mitigation Auto High-Beam System Concern: This camera component is not subject to normal wear and tear, being housed within the vehicle's protected interior near the rearview mirror. The failure of this part represents a potential manufacturing defect that compromises essential safety features designed to prevent accidents and save lives. The simultaneous loss of multiple Honda Sensing safety systems creates a significant safety hazard, particularly given that drivers rely on these systems for collision avoidance and lane departure prevention. This premature failure suggests a systemic defect that may affect other 2020 Honda Pilot vehicles. Request: I request that NHTSA investigate this matter for potential safety defects and consider whether a recall is warranted for affected Honda Pilot vehicles with this camera component.

The LKAS camera stopped working and it won’t allow any of the connected systems to operate including ACC, emergency brake assist, cruise control, etc.
I own a 2020 Honda Pilot EX with approximately 58,000 miles. Every time I drive on two-lane roads, I receive a bright orange “Brake” warning from the Automatic Emergency Braking system when vehicles in the opposite lane are passing by. The system falsely detects an imminent collision, even though the oncoming vehicles are safely in their lane. The system then applies the brakes unnecessarily. Most of the time it brakes mildly, but on at least two occasions it has braked very hard, causing the vehicle behind me to nearly rear-end my car. This creates a significant and dangerous situation, as it could easily cause an accident. I now have to disable the automatic braking system every time I drive. During my last drive, after disabling the system, I received a warning message stating: “ABS Failure — Take to Dealer.” I have also experienced dangerous behavior from the Lane Departure Warning/Assist system. When exiting the freeway, if the lane lines disappear or become unclear, the vehicle has slammed on the brakes suddenly. On one occasion, this caused me severe whiplash. Thankfully, I was alone in the car — if my young children had been passengers, they could have suffered serious neck injuries. I have taken the vehicle to the Honda dealer and independent mechanics. Each time, they have only cleared the codes and told me it was due to “dirty sensors.” The warnings and braking issues, however, keep coming back. This issue is persistent, reproducible, and unsafe. The Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure, and ABS systems are not functioning properly and create a real danger to myself, my passengers, and other drivers on the road.
The dashboard looks like a christmas tree all the brake lights are on, I googled this and its supposedly a known issues. I'm not sure if the brakes are safe or not.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle shifted into park independently. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while restarting the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated to restart for approximately 90-seconds, and then operated as intended. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where was it diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the the front camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure, and informed the contact that the failure was not covered under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

No incident. Turned my car on and the ACC, LKAS, Collision mitigation and brake system lights all are amber.
All the associated warnings are on dash, diagnosed at local Honda dealership with code u 3006-16. Advised multi camera failure and requested $1600 to repair. Immediate after I am now getting a transmission warning problem on dash.
Several system failures relates to a faulty multipurpose camera used by the Honda Sensing system from collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control and land keeping assist. Multipurpose camera premature failure leads to loss of several safety features.
Turned car on one day and warning lights on dash. ACC problem, Collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, LKAS, Auto high beam, CMBS problem. Prior there were no issues Took car to dealership and they determined its the forward looking camera U3000-49, see uploaded file. The front camera has failed without incident, windshield isn't damaged, windshield has not been replaced. When it malfunctions and myself or family are relying on this feature it becomes a safety issue.
1.)Transmission!! Problems such as Transmission fluid overheating, RPM's boggle up & down while on flat roads at steady speeds, cruise control wont stay activated, shaking or vibration while stopped and while driving. 2.) mine and my kids safety is at risk when we have to pull over to let the transmission cool and are on a busy interstate. It also risks us breaking down while we are traveling long distance and being stranded in the middle of nowhere. 3.) I had my vehicle worked on at a Honda dealer in the past 2 months for the shaking, but they did not resolve the shaking or cruise control issue. 4.) March 30th was the first time the Transmission fluid to hot warning has come up. The other symptoms listed above started in December of 24. my vehicle isnt listed as a recall but everey symptom it list i have.
The ADAS camera had an internal failure, rendering all of the driver assistance features inoperable. The camera was the one that came from the car new. The old camera is available for inspection. The problem was observed by an independent repair shop. There were several warnings about the problem before the camera failure in the months before.

2020 Honda Pilot Touring was purchased in CT at Honda of Stamford, May of 2023. I started having issues in July pertaining to extreme dust coming into the cabin causing my children and myself asthma conditions to worsen. I took the car to the dealer and they blew out something connected with the system. I than started having issues with the radio system and large popping sounds coming from it. The dealer didn't check this for me. The car also brakes on it's own while driving without warning and nothing is in front of me. The dealer didn't check this. On [XXX] the dashboard lite up with a lot of error messages and the car brake light was on. The car would only go 20mph on the highway. The car was stuck in Greenwich, CT at my son school for 2 days until I got it towed to the dealer. On Feb24th the car was towed to the dealer. I was told the brake switch went out and needed replacement. I was charged 200.00. I picked the car up on Feb25th @1pm and the dealer claimed the repair was done. On [XXX]. I was traveling on the highway in Norwalk, CT and the dashboard lite up with the same errors and he brakes did the same thing and the car was hard to steering. I took it back to the dealer and was told 3 other things was wrong with the car. Code-C0040-62 Brake lamp switch failure stuck. U3000-49 Multi purpose camerawave radar internal electronic failure. B2A60-97. Tech reset camera and the system still gave failure codes. The dealer confirmed the issues, but refused to give me a replacement. I had a DMV investigation and the out was to refund me for the conveyance fee the dealer lied about on the contract. I was also refunded for vin etching the dealer lied about on the contract and refunded for Honda Care. I was in the car with my children when the brake issue happened both times and it was scary. The car was never inspected before it was sold to me. I also never received several documents from the dealership required by CT state law. I left the car. Upon startup I frequently get the following warnings: -Collision Mitigation System Problem -Road Departure Mitigation System Problem -Adaptive Cruise Control Problem -Lane Keeping Assist Problem -Braking System Error All mechanical systems work fine but cruise control and all of the “smart” safety features don’t work. A simple google search will show hundreds of owners experiencing the same problem with this generation as well as Odysseys that likely use the same system. Dealers want $1700-$2000 to replace the forward facing camera. However, this is clearly a defective part from Honda and they need to recall and fix it.

I am a retired car dealer and have driven hundreds of different cars but have never had this happen before and Honda tells me it is normal which I know is not the case! when I am driving on any kind of road flat or hilly when opposing traffic is on coming, the yellow light flashes and beeps and occasionally the steering wheel also vibrates. this false warning light indicating an impending head on collision is unsafe and not how the car is designed to work. my belief as a a retired honda dealer ( 1982- 2020) is that Honda does not know how to fix it and says that it is normal so they do not have to fix. please make them fix this serious flaw so that we can drive our 2020 Honda's with out this false warning light. Honda knows they have a problem! sincerely [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Monocular Camera electronic Failure.
Vehicle struggles and jerks to keep speed between 1st and 2nd and 3rd gears and jerks trying to accelerate up until around 50 mph check engine light came on and off a few times and information center on car reports exhaust system problem and to take to a dealer, took to autozone to get codes read replaced part it said to replace but problem persisted light came back on took back to autozone same code showing different bay so I took vehicle to Honda dealer and had them do a diagnostic on it which they could not complete without me paying an extra 180.00 for a more in depth diagnostic I paid and they found the fuel injectors not functioning properly and said I need to replace them I declined Honda to do this and took it to a different shop myself to have it done where I trusted the mechanic had all the injectors replaced and same problem is still happening. The breaking assist comes on randomly while driving and hits breaks and shakes steering wheel while flashing (break) but there is nothing in front of me.

CMBS activates for no reason whatsoever. I can't even count how many times this vehicle has locked the brakes up and no cars anywhere near me at all. Like miles down the road. Honda said they can't replicate the issue. Well, it's going to be hard to replicate something that happens 4 or 5 times in a week by driving it 10 min down the road. This vehicle is going to get my family killed.

Drive car normal .park car went in building to work. After work start cart and on highway going home all lights came on on dashboard. Mechanic said front camera is burnt due to excessive heat.
While diving at times, the vehicle will flash BRAKE and the wheel will shutter when a vehicle is going the opposite direction, or while ascending and descending on a hill. On a rare occasion, the vehicle will attempt to brake itself. Also, when at a complete stop, the vehicle will go into auto-engine stop. When the brake pedal is release, the vehicle stalls out and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) will flash. In-order to restart the vehicle, a sequence needs to be followed, put the vehicle in neutral, then park, then turn engage the start/stop ignition button. It is only when you follow this sequence will the car restart and you can engage the transmission. A recall was completed for the autostop issue, but since that repair, the above issues have increased in frequency and almost caused an accident in the middle of an intersection. The dealership says they have no clue as to the cause and need to scan the vehicle at a cost of $300 just to investigate.
My vehicle activates CMBS randomly. There doesn't even have to be cars around me and it'll just lock me up in the middle of the road. I have almost been rear-ended several times now. The dealers won't do anything about it.
Vehicle braking randomly. Cars can be nowhere in sight and this vehicle will slam the brakes. I have almost been rear-ended several times and almost ended up in a road rage incident due to this vehicle slamming the brakes.
The car's front and back sensors will trigger for no reason. In a drive-thru it'll tell me that I am going to run into something after I've been sitting there for three minutes and not moving. The brakes slam on consistently, this happens at least three times every time I drive the car, as I'm driving down a road not about to run into anything or anyone. It's quite scary, and luckily, I haven't been rear-ended yet, I honked a few times but was not rear-ended. The low tire sensor goes off even though there's no low tire. I checked at several different service places, and all of them say the tire is fine. After It's checked, the light goes off, but it comes back on within a few weeks. There is a bad smell inside the car as if a diesel truck is passing us. it is so bad That we have to roll down the windows to be comfortable inside the car. Even though this recall has been done, I still get a loud popping and cracking on the radio when I'm making phone calls or getting phone calls. I have a son with autism, and I have to stop the car and let him out when it gets really bad. I have video on Google Photos but I am [XXX] and I do not know how to share them from my computer, sorry INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The recurring malfunctions in my vehicle's front screen system have repeatedly endangered me, especially when it suddenly blacks out while navigating unfamiliar roads or during backing maneuvers. Additionally, the faulty front vehicle sensor has caused my vehicle to halt abruptly, even when no obstacles are present. Despite numerous visits to the dealer, the issues persist, and their repeated requests to bring it in have yielded no solutions. Since purchasing the vehicle new in 2020, these persistent safety concerns have become increasingly dangerous as they are getting worse. I have attempted to contact Honda with no resolution
In late December of 2023, our 2020 Honda Pilot began showing a "brake system" warning light, as well as numerous dashboard warnings indicating that automatic cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation, automatic high beam, and lane departure were not functioning properly. Our local Honda dealer diagnosed the vehicle as having a multipurpose camera failure. There were no accidents or damage of any sort that preceded this incident, and replacement of this camera cost us nearly $2000 out of pocket (invoice attached). There appear to be numerous similar reports on Honda internet forums, such as this one [XXX] ). Given the proven benefit of advanced safety systems, this failure absolutely increased the risk of collision. Phantom braking from the CMBS collision avoidance system. It occurs randomly and applies brakes when the road is clear. The amount of braking varies from a partial second to more severe. This will cause an accident.

Since I bought the car in 2019, Movie CD does not work all the time. Fixed once. Automatic emergency breaking. It does not stop. Have taken it to the dealership at least 4 times and they say they are not able to replicate the problem. Set the cruise speed control and it does not work. Currently not working for over a month. The engine transmission does not stop the car and if it does work the car does not stop totally and car jumps 2-3 feet while foot is on brake. Dealership say they can not duplicate the problem.

While driving the vehicle, all the aforementioned systems came on the cars dashboard stating that all of them have been turned off, and now there is a brake system issue with the vehicle. The car has 35000 miles and has not been in any accident or collision. Currently there is no warranty on the vehicle, but given that this is something that is impacting the safety of properly operating the vehicle and it’s safety equipment is not being made accessible to leverage is a major concern for a possible accident.
Car was park after I drop off wife to work after 30 minutes when back to the car started the engine and several warnings lights showed up in my dash check battery and alternator they are working fine. Replace battery and still have the problem .when to dealership and they told me camera in my windshield is bad. Checking in the forums I found out that several owner of Honda the have this issue with their vehicles . Can you guy’s please check into this matter. It will be appreciated no just me but a lot more owners like me thanks . [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving at low highway speeds when the Collision Mitigation Breaking System had a malfunction and became disabled while driving in traffic. There was an audible alert and visual alerts which popped up and became a distraction while driving as it was sudden unknown what was happening and if the car was safe to drive. I was able to continue to drive home. The next morning I took the car to the dealer. The dealer scanned and checked out the car, but was not able to replicate the problem. The warning disappeared prior to arriving at the dealer. There were no other warnings prior to the issue.

The sensors alerted me to Brake in an emergent flash and then slammed the brakes - when there was nothing in front of me. It happens when the car is going faster than 45 mph. It has happened on three separate occasions and the third time almost caused an accident on a two lane road traveling 55 mph

The infotainment system that controls all audio and backup cameras to the car has been malfunctioning for years. The problem is the system will shut it self off and remain non functional for long periods of time then will turn itself back on at anytime. The dealer (with aid from Honda Field service tech) have evaluated the car multiple times and addressed the issue. Each time the same issue return. There has been multiple recalls for the issue and they have all been addressed but then the problems always return. While the system is down no audio feature of the car is available such as audible backup warning, audible collision warnings etc.
as I am driving down a 2 lane road( the road can be flat or hilly or curve right or left) the brake warning light comes on falsely when a car is approaching me from the opposite way and the brake warning light displays and sometimes it shakes the wheel. this falsely is indicating that I am needing to brake to avoid a collision when there is NOT an chance at a collision is going to happen. we were a Honda dealer from 1971 until 2020 with multiple manufacturer's and have NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN on ANY VEHICLE until I bought this 2020 Honda Pilot EXL for my own personal use. I bought my daughter the exact same year make and model and her 2020 Honda Pilot is not doing this and neither are the 2 other cars in our household having this problem (2019 and 2023). I have taken it to the dealer multiple times and a Honda engineer has looked at it but it is my option after many trips to the dealer and phone calls that they do not know how to fix or do not want to fix it. NO ONE WOULD BUY A 2023 HONDA PILOT IF THIS LIGHT WOULD GO OFF ON A TEST DRIVE! please help
I was stopped at a stop light with my auto-idle system engaged. When the light turned to green the auto-idle would not disengage leaving me stalled in traffic. When I pressed on the gas I got an error message about the 'anti-collision system' being offline. I had to restart the car to resolve the issue. The dealer/service center states no known issues.
There have been a total of 11 (since 2020) incidents when I applied the brakes they did not engage fully and the SUV surged forward 2 feet and the engine was still trying to go forward even with brake pedal to the floor. I have had it looked at the dealership but they say nothing is wrong. They said the battery was not talking to the brakes and I got a new battery but the brakes are still not dependable. When I apply the brakes they still surge forward 1 - 2 feet the engine revs up trying to go forward. The music CD player works sometimes but not all the time. The brakes do not work all the time. The electrical system did not work - it wouldn't show the dash board. The dealership said they fixed it. Both side mirrors never stays where they are set.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the message "Brake" was displayed, and the vehicle shuddered while there was no vehicles or objects in front of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds with the Forward Collision Avoidance: Adaptive Cruise Control Mode activated, the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) engaged abruptly while there were no vehicles or objects in front of the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer contacted the manufacturer, and a Honda engineer was sent to assist the dealer in diagnosing the vehicle; however, the engineer could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the Forward Collision Avoidance system malfunctioned due to the positioning of the Forward Collision Avoidance sensor in the front grille of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100.
Mileage: 100
Events happened about 5 times in 3weeks , car will flash brake , brake brake and steering wheel will shake for no reason
I just bought this vehicle yesterday. While driving it home the front collision breaking system came on twice. There were no other vehicles, pedestrians, animals, or objects on the road. On both occasions it was only momentary. One time the instance was on a curve, the other was on a straight-a-way. This happened on a 2 lane (one in each direction) road. I will be reaching out to the Ford dealership where it was purchased along with Honda.

The radio and other components of the "mostbus network" fail constantly (radio, rear entertainment and Blu-ray drive, in dash meter, amplifier). The rear view camera frequently fails to activate when switched to reverse gear. The car will also frequently give a forward collision warning and occasionally slam on the brakes even where there are no other cars in sight. Honda has been unable to fix these issues, and says that even after 2.5 years of owning the vehicle and 2.5 years of attempting to have it repaired, that they haven't exhausted all of their options yet.

In two, separate, instances the vehicle exhibited sudden acceleration with the brake pedal depressed. The first instance was, as the 2020 Honda Pilot was pulling into a driveway and was approximately 10 feet behind another vehicle parked in the driveway. With the brake pedal being depressed, as one does when parking, the 2020 Honda Pilot suddenly accelerated and struck the rear of the other vehicle. The automatic braking system was never deployed. The second instance was when the 2020 Honda Pilot was on a city street and was parked behind another vehicle on the right side of the street against the curb. The 2020 Honda Pilot was approximately 10 feet behind another vehicle parked against the curb. With the brake pedal being depressed, as one does when parking, the 2020 Honda Pilot suddenly accelerated and struck the rear of the other vehicle, driving it over the curb and into the yard of a house. The automatic braking system was never deployed. These incidents happened, almost exactly, one year apart on clear summer days when the temperature and humidity were almost identical. The 2020 Honda Pilot was inspected by a private crash expert company to obtain any crash data but found none, as the data is not recorded unless the air bags are deployed. An incident was reported to Honda who had a representative drive the 2020 Honda Pilot and "could not replicate the sudden acceleration". All safety features were running at the time of both crashes. The crashes occurred on 7/24/21 and 7/13/22.
Auto start/stop feature failed to restart vehicle and shifted to Neutral when foot was taken off the brake. Collision Mitigation Warning lights came on after vehicle power was shut off and turned back on to restart the motor.
Our Honda Pilot displays and shakes the wheel for Forward Collision Warnings a minimum of 30 times a day over approximately 32 miles daily. The vehicle has on more than one occasion engaged the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) as well in situations where no vehicle was on the road ahead or beside us, nearly causing us to be rear ended at high speeds. This has also happened when pulling out into intersections where the closest vehicles are approximately 75 feet. This has happened while travelling at anywhere from 15 mph to 55 mph, and has occurred every 1 to 2 months since owning the vehicle. We have been nearly rear-ended at least 5 times since owning the vehicle. Honda has told us that the collision warning "can't be adjusted" to fix this, and that our "best option is to disable the alert or the system". Being told to disable safety systems as a fix rather than actually fixing the issue is wildly inappropriate and unsafe.

The auto emergency braking (forward collision mitigation) will trigger and brake hard frequently on 2 lane roads. This has surprised me multiple times. Honda service says that this is normal and they don't seem interested in fixing it. I have read that there is an investigation into this issue on certain Honda sedan models, and wanted to be sure that the Honda Pilot was included in the investigation. This has occured multiple times since I've purchased the vehicle new.
This malfunction has been described to the dealer (s) on multiple occasions. They stated that is how it functions. I disagree. These typically happen on 2 way remote highways not multicar lane express ways. If on a two way roadway and you are turning right. Your vehicle sees and oncoming vehicle in the other lane and Emergency braking happens. The emergency braking system also has gone on when travelling straight for no know reason. It happened recently on a 2 way back road in Washington olympic area and my daughter was driving. The brakes just went on and she could not see why? the car in the rear had to emergency brake as well to prevent rear ending us. It has happened multiple times for no apparent reason? It is aggravating and not safe. Honda seems to not believe me so I thought that I would bring the issue to a higher authority.
This has happened since I bought this vehicle brand new. whenever I am on a 2 lane road, the brake warning light and brake warning chime activate fairly often but intermittent when traffic coming from the opposite direction. if I am on a 4 lane road and in the lane that is closest to the oncoming traffic , it will send a false brake warning and brake warning chime. I have video taped this and sent to waltrip Honda in Franklin, TN. their technician verified the problem and replaced the radar unit on the vehicle, but it is still doing this even after the new part has been replaced. feel free to call me [XXX] or email [XXX]. thank you [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Automatic Emergency Braking engaged while I was driving on the highway with no cars and no warning brake light on dash. There were no cars in front me ( this is the second time). Periodically the Braking light flashes on the dash if I’m driving on a two way road in the curve part of the road.
I passed a walker on my side of the road by slowly moving over the center line to the other lane to give the pedestrian a wide birth. The lane departure migration system was turned on. I did not use a turn signal. There was not a car behind me or approaching me in the opposite lane. The car started to warn me I was going out of my lane by shaking the wheel and flashing a brake/lane departure warning at me. I ignored it since I didn’t want to hit the pedestrian and continued to move into the other lane. Then the car took over the wheel, braked and brought me almost to a complete stop suddenly. If a car had been following behind me, I would have been rear ended. I no longer trust the lane departure warning system. If I forgot to use a turn signal on the highway or suddenly had to leave my lane on the highway to avoid a car or object, this system could cause a serious accident. Thank you!
The automatic collision avoidance system continually gives false warnings, shaking the steering wheel and beeping, while flashing a brake warning. This occurs even if there is no other traffic on the road, which could cause an accident by startling the driver when it unexpectedly activates. The automatic brakes are also overly aggressive, which could cause a rear end collision.

The automatic emergency braking system will sometimes just start flashing as if there is an object in front of me. There are no objects in front of me and it would flash. There has been 2 occasions where the vehicle would slam on the brakes and then release even though no objects are on the road. This has happened at least 10 times where the warning would flash. Also, the adaptive cruise control would slam on the brakes even though we are following at a safe distance. Of all the times I have used the ACC, the car would slam on the brakes 80% of the time.

My Honda often displays the brakes warning and on rear occasion apply brake in response to oncoming traffic on two-lane roads. I already went with onboard camera recalibration at one of the safe glass location but this problem persist on narrow two-lane roads.

My 2020 Honda Pilot has stalled 4 times in the past two weeks after the auto engine idle occurs at a red light. The engine will shut off automatically, but when I lift my foot from the brake, the car engine does not turn back on, and the car shifts into park, and acts as if stalled. In order to get the car to restart, I have to power down completely, open the driver side door(!!!) and “reset” the whole system before I can apply the brake and press the ignition button. Even then a couple of times it doesn’t start for me doing that, and I have to cycle through the entire process a second time. This happened to me with my 3 children in the car twice on very busy (50mph) roads, and is incredibly dangerous. The second major issue I have noticed, but less frequently (about 3-4 times in the past 6 months), is that the auto braking system will randomly alert and apply the brakes while I’m driving down a straight road with no traffic in front of me! Needless to say, terrifying. This thankfully only lasts a few seconds before I regain control of the car, but also incredibly dangerous. I am scheduling service with Honda to evaluate ASAP, but I have read *many* accounts of the exact same problem online and every single person says Honda has never been able to find any cause. Some say replacing the battery helps, others say the stalling issue remains after battery replacement. If we can’t solve this problem, or have the auto engine idle completely and permanently disabled, I will be selling this car very soon. 16,104 miles driven as of today.
Vehicle brakes automatically when operating at highway speeds when passing a vehicle that is either moving slowly or stopped in a turn lane waiting to turn left. Occurs when Collision Mitigation System is in both the on and off position and when cruise control is engaged and disengaged. This has occurred approximately twice a month since purchasing new in July of 2020. Vehicle also breaks when encountering an approaching vehicle on the highway while going around a corner when turning to the right. One time the vehicle behind me almost hit me and had to go onto the shoulder to avoid a collision. I reported this to the Honda dealer in the winter months and they said it was likely caused by road salt. It's now June and there is no road salt and problem is still occurring. The orange break indicator when on turning the automatic breaking.
We purchased a 2020 Honda Pilot EXL AWD. The collision mitigation system engages arbitrarily, no vehicles or obstacles in front of me and the system activates. Honda Dealership said they can't find a problem. However, there is a class action lawsuit against Honda, filed in California, for this and other problems with their safety system. Most Recently drove the car on a 560 mile trip, the collision mitigation system warning came on 5 times when there were no cars or obstacles in front of me. Hopefully NHTSA can apply some pressure on Honda to address this issue. It is VERY FRUSTRATING when you have problems with a new vehicle and HONDA will not correct them.
MY 2020 PILOT HAS SEVERAL ISSUES. 1. THE DASHBOARD AND INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM BLACKOUT. IN SEPT 2020, HONDA REPLACED THE MOST MODULE AND SAID THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, MY INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AGAIN WENT BLANK (3/6/2021), I HAD NO BACK UP CAMERA OR INFORMATION. THIS FIX OBVIOUSLY DID NOT WORK. I TOOK VIDEO ON MY PHONE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA, THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT MY VIDEO AND SAID THAT THEY NEEDED TO RECREATE IT (3/26/21). THEY DID NOTHING. I ALSO GOT THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE SEVERAL DAYS LATER (3/12/21), "UNFORTUNATELY, COM.HONDA.TELEPHONYSERVICE HAS STOPPED." I ALSO SHOWED THIS TO THE HONDA SERVICE CENTER, THEY SAID INTERESTING, WE HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT. THEY DID NOT WANT MY PICTURE, AND COULD NOT RECREATE, SO THEY DID NOTHING. THE CRACKLING/POPPING NOISE IS ALSO BACK AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED, WITH THE HONDA REPAIR. THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THIS EITHER, SO THEY DID NOTHING. 2. I HAVE ISSUES WITH THE FORWARD COLLISION BRAKING, AUTO SENSING. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA AND WHEN DRIVING ON TWO LANE ROADS, HEAD ON TO THE OTHER TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY BRAKES. WHEN DRIVING OVER TWO LANE BRIDGES, WHICH I DO OFTEN, IT BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES A TRIP TRYING TO GET OVER THE BRIDGE. THIS IS NOT SAFE. ONE TIME I WAS ON 66 IN VA (1/27/21), AT NIGHT, AN 18 WHEELER WAS COMING OFF AN EXIT RAMP, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE. THE VEHICLE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND DROPPED MY SPEED APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MPH FOR NO REASON. THE 18 WHEELER WAS STILL ON THE EXIT RAMP. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THE BRAKE SENSING IT TOO SENSITIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR THIS, THEY COULD NOT RECREATE AND TOLD ME TO TURN IT OFF. THAT IS NOT AN ANSWER. IF A VEHICLE HAS SAFETY OPTIONS, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THEM AND NOT BE TOLD TO TURN THEM OFF! THE 2020 PILOT HAS A LOT OF ISSUES THAT ARE NOT BEING FIXED. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD.

THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE DAY 1. IT BEGAN WITH THE SUNROOF LEAKING AND CAUSING PUDDLES IN THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER FLOORS. THAT ISSUE REQUIRED 4 TRIPS TO THE DEALER. THE SPEAKERS THEN BEGAN POPPING AND THE RADIO AND DASH WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. FIXING THAT HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED 5 TIMES AND THE RADIO STILL CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED FALSE CRASH SENSING AND ONCE, THE AUTO BRAKING SYSTEM MADE ME COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP WHILE GOING ABOUT 45MPH AND NO ONE WAS EVEN AROUND ME. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A PROBLEM AND IS NOW BECOMING A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS MY WIFE WHO REGULARLY DRIVES IT IS NOW PREGNANT. SHE IS SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND HONDA IS UNWILLING TO HELP SOLVE THE ISSUES.

PILOT WAS PARKED AND WHEN I WENT TO GET IN IT TO LEAVE, I NOTICED THE REAR WINDOW LOOKED WEIRD. WALKED AROUND BACK AND THE BACK GLASS HAD JUST EXPLODED. GLASS WAS BULGING WITH A LARGE MISSING PIECE. IT WAS CRACKED ALL THE WAY THRU AND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS A BIG PIECE MISSING WHERE A REAR DEFROSTER MODULE WOULD BE LOCATED. THE GLASS WAS STILL CREAKING WHEN I REALIZED THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY SOMETHING HITTING IT AS THERE WAS NOT GLASS IN THE INSIDE. I THINK IT WAS CAUSED BY THE REAR DEFROST WHICH WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME. GLAD IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING. JUST HAPPENED, BUT IF I KNOW HONDA, THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. "NOT OUR FAULT".
