1. Visibility: rearview mirrors/devices: exterior. Driver mirror fell off. 2. Windshield multipurpose camera unit, u3000-49, burned out. Requiring replacement within 4 years of purchase. 3. The auto idle stop stalls the car.
Auto start stop fails to work.
Auto Idle Stop system is not working correctly. Usual it happens at a traffic light, the truck Auto Idle Stop system sometimes will not start the engine and requires me to put it in park and restart with the primary starter. Took the truck to Honda dealer and they told me the best remedy was to turn off the Auto Idle Stop system every time I use the truck. This does not seem like a reasonable fix. I have had the truck or 5 years, but only have about 26000 miles on the vehicle. The Auto Idle Stop system has failed to work approximately 15 to 20 times since I bought the truck new in 2020.
AIS system not working properly . Vehicle stalls when brake is applied when car is stopped and at idle. Does not restart when brake is released as designed . This creates a safety hazard when in traffic . This has occurred frequently . Automatic Idle Stop/Start (AIS) System
My Honda 2020 ridgeline has intermittent faults on the dash monitor, it displays ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation, High beam, lane departure warnings, and sometimes transmission problem. I am told it is the muti cable assembly sensor on the front window not communicating with the other sensors. I took my car to auto zone and they stated no communication, due to a bad battery. I replaced the battery, and it still has the multiple errors/ fault codes. During research several people have had this problem with Honda vehicles. At times it goes away for a day or two and then comes back with the same faults. It seems like a faulty part. The dealer wants 1800 for repair and calibration of sensors, this was after they ran a diagnostic test and found no engine faults/codes.
The visor on the drivers side will not assume the position so that it does not interfere with complete visibility of the front window. It was hard to adjust when we first bought the car and we thought it would get less stiff but it hasn’t.
Whenever I’m driving in my vehicle everything seems to be fine until I stop at a red light. On three separate occasions, while my vehicle is stopped it will automatically go into neutral and stall. This causes my truck not to run properly. I have to shut my car off, and then turn it back on to put it in drive and operate it like normal. I’m unsure what my cars issue is but it is an inconvenience and a safety concern due to it keeps happening while in traffic.
In response to a recall for the possible failure of the rear camera, I had the Honda dealership make the repair. Upon receiving my vehicle, I noticed that the wiring bundle had numerous small gauge wires exposed. I photographed them and corresponded with the dealership. They said they’d rectify my concerns. After visiting the dealership again for yet another recall concerning front passenger seat sensors, I was informed that the wiring issue was standard Honda practice and I should contact Honda. I filed a complaint with Honda and I just heard from them by phone and I was told they don’t consider exposed wires running from the bed to a tailgate a safety concern. I had checked two additional model years of the Honda Ridgeline(22 and 25) and found the same unshielded situation. Certainly a design flaw and a safety situation. Honda intends to do nothing although there is an active recall for rear camera failures. A truck bed is used to carry all kinds of things and unprotected wiring to vital components is unacceptable.
My auto start/stop wouldn’t restart my car in traffic. I ran the battery down trying to restart it and finally had to jump it off
Reference Investigation: EA25004, No Restart After Auto Start/Stop Engages 2 separate instances 1st instance during stop and go driving on highway in heavy traffic, engine failed to restart automatically after full stop, message stating something about neutral appeared, unsure exactly what message stated. I had to shift to park and hold the brake down for a normal start. 2nd instance 2 weeks after 1st 04/04/2025 while stopped at a traffic light engine failed to Auto start - same result as above (1st incident)
How long should it take for repairs on the recall items? I have not received info from Honda, and a call to a local dealership has done nothing except being told "we'll call you when the parts are in." First recall was 1 year ago, the other 9 months ago.
I took my 2020Honda Ridgeline for tire rotation at a costco tire center and they reported that the hub and wheel mating surface are heavily corroded and that it will be dangerous to drive. I called the Honda Customer Hotline and they told me that I have to take it to body shop and get it fix with my own money. Same thing they told me at Honda Mossy Lemon Grove that corrosion and rust are not warranted by Honda.
DRIVER MIRROR ALWAYS REQUIRES REAJUSTMENT. THIS ON INITAIL STARTUP OR EVERY TIME REVERSE GEAR IS SELECTED.
When operating the vehicle in reverse, the dashboard screen was black/blank instead of displaying the view from the rear backup camera. The issue began to occur intermittently at ~40,000 miles and the camera was completely non-operational at 42,163k miles (10/21/2023). Upon investigating and diagnosing the root cause of failure, the dealer determined that the rear backup camera wiring harness failed. The failure point was a flexible section at the rear tailgate hinge that permits opening and closing the rear tailgate. Because the dealer's total replacement cost was too expensive (>$500), the original wiring harness was repaired by the owner. At 50,185 miles, the failure is intermittently occurring again with the repaired harness. A non-operational backup camera puts pedestrians, cyclists and others at risk when the vehicle is backing up because the driver may not be aware of their presence and could strike them or cause a collision. The local dealer diagnosed the issue and subsequently sold the owner a new replacement wiring harness that has yet to be installed. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem occurred prior to the failure.
The backup camera is no longer working - just a black screen
Rearview camera stopped working due to the tailgate wire harness failing from normal opening and closing of the tailgate .the issue appears to be identical to the subject of a recall in 2017 to 2019 model years.
Backup camera goes black - no picture. Doing some follow up on the internet, this appears to be a problem that has affected other Honda Ridgelines.
Back-up camera failed.
The reverse camera on the vehicle flickers black and then shows the image, or will be black the entire time. This happens intermittently
Rear camera stopped working. The screen is blank with the guide lines showing
Sunroof exploded while traveling eastbound on [XXX] near Pensacola, FL. Per the internet this has occurred. There is currently a class action lawsuit against Honda. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Rear camera stopped working about six weeks ago. It does work intermittently when the tailgate is down. Dealer claimed I need new camera and harness, approaching $1,000! Independent repair shop confirmed it is just the harness. My understanding is that 2017-2019 models are under recall for the harness safety defect. Please extend this recall to the 2020 model year!!!
The backup camera display is sometimes black. This is an intermittent problem that seems to stem from a poor connection. Manipulating the wiring leading from the tailgate can restore the camera's operation. This wiring is routed in such a wear that it seems prone to mechanical wear over time leading to a poor connection.
My Ridgeline was at the Honda dealer for a recall on both left and right exterior mirrors. (Glass only) Both were replaced. After leaving the dealer, the drivers side mirror image appeared wavy and distorted. It was difficult to focus on the image while driving rendering the mirror almost useless. The passenger side appears perfect. How can a replacement drivers side mirror installed due to a recall be worse than the recalled unit it replaced? Frustrating.
I shifted the vehicle into reverse and the parking assist camera (backup camera) did not appear on the infotainment screen as it should. There is an active recall on the 2017 - 2019 models as Honda is aware of this problem with the tailgate wiring harness design. Backing up without the visual aid poses a serious safety threat to any pedestrians or vehicles that may not be seen due to the camera not working as it should. I have not yet scheduled a repair for this item but will update when the problem is remedied. There was no warning before this occured. It was sudden without any signs. It is my hope and the duty of the manufacturer that this issue is fixed within ALL model years that this problem is known to occur.
Rear back up camera show black screen when put into reverse. Honda has recalled the 2017-2019 ridgelines which includes 117,445 trucks. 2020 has not been included. Purchased in July of 2020 camera went out in march of 2023. The ridgeline behind the tailgate is a massive blind spot so without the camera even if you turn your head around you can not see anyone shorter than the tailgate standing at least 6 feet behind the truck and can cause an accident by accidentally running over someone or backing into another vehicle when backing into cross traffic.
The rear view screen function located on the dashboard's video monitor stopped working and the screen only showed the yellow guide lines and the rear view image was blanked out. I took the truck to a Honda dealer for repair and they found the cause was the Tailgate Harness wiring rubbed down and the wires are broken. I was informed that it would cost me approximately $500 to purchase and replace the wiring harness. This issue was rated by NHTSA as a safety issue and Honda issued a recall for 2017-2019 Ridgeline trucks. When I contacted Honda they stated that my 2020 vehicle was not covered and they would not reimburse me for the fix. Because this issue is the same as 2017-2019 vehicles, NHTSA should require Honda to extend their recall for this issue to 2020 vehicles.
Backup camera stopped working.
As I was backing out of the garage, the backup camera failed to show video on my display. I almost ran over toys, and the safety failure of this feature is essential. The video has failed to show on the display, although no damage has occurred to the vehicle. It seems that there must be a failure in the wiring.
This a transmission and auto idle shut off issue. The condition has happened 8-11 times over the 80K miles I have owned this vehicle. It happened today Sunday 6/18/2023 at 12:13pm. With the auto idle shut off engauged, at a stop light, foot on the brake and waiting for the light to change to green, the transmission will shift from drive to neutral, without touching anything. I will get a notification on the dashboard " that I need to put my foot on the brake to start the car", but my foot is on the brake already, waiting for the light to change. The vehicle will not start in neutral, I have to put the vehicle into park to start the vehicle. If I don't see the notification on the dashboard, focused on watching the light change, when the light turns green, take my foot off the brake, the next thing I know, I am rolling backwards towards a vehicle behind me. When the light turns green, the vehicle behind me thinks I am going to move forward, instead I am rolling backwards towards them, before I reapplied the brakes. Twice the vehicle behind me looked like they were going to hit, but stopped short. I have been the two dealerships with my concerns and one did a software update, but the problem continues to persist. One dealer recommended notifying Honda of America and I have done this. 6/12/2023 case 13880068, no response yet and 6/17/2023 second request case 13893182. At first I thought I was doing something with my hand, but I now drive with my right hand on the passenger armrest to make sure I have no involvement in the condition I have describe.
Rear backup camera is not working
Rear camera has stopped working. There was a recall for 2017 - 2019 Honda Ridgelines, currently does not include 2020. My mileage is 39600 and was told not covered. They apparently have not fixed the problem and it needs to include 2020’s as well.
I have a recall for PGM-FI and Honda said they won’t honor it due to salvage title.I am concerned that it could be a safety hazard due to vehicle not restarting after idle stop engages when stopping on the road.
The rear opening and closing of the tailgate caused a break in the wiring harness, causing the rearview camera to fail. This is due to a design flaw and identical to what has happened in the 2017-2019 models.
The back up camera failed. I can't see what is behind me when backing up.
The window pillar is made of cheap thin plastic that melts easy and I believe is a fire danger. I have had two incidents, the first in July of 2021 shortly after I purchased my vehicle and I reported it to Honda product complaint 12387373. Honda replaced the molding with the same exact part. I have had another issue on the same side with the same part in a different location in the middle of February in 40 degree temperatures in front of an office building. Honda is saying there is no issue. I believe that since this has happened twice now it is a fire hazard.
This complaint is about Tesla vehicles that I passed or passed me yesterday in Southern California on the 15 and 210 freeways. The conditions were treacherous with low visibility and rain. At least one dozen Tesla vehicles were encountered and none had their lights on although it was raining and visibility was low. They did have front “driving lights” illuminated but no rear lights were visible. In California, it is the law to have your lights on if it’s raining. The lack of rear lights presented a dangerous situation in foggy and damp conditions even though it was not nighttime. These observations were made between 10 AM and noon as well as 3:30 PM and 5 PM. My Honda Ridgeline had its lights set on automatic and they were illuminated the entire time. I can’t understand why the Tesla vehicles didn’t have any lights displayed in the rear of the car unless they were breaking. It must be a software oversight because I observed various models and production years. This needs to be rectified for all our safety.
Sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving. Sunroof is not safety glass and shattered into thousands of shards. If the inner cover had been open the driver would have been hit in the face with these glass shards while driving at highway speed. There was nothing on the roadway that could have caused this explosion. Smooth paved road and no close traffic. We believe it is a defect and the type of glass is inherently dangerous to be used in a motor vehicle.
THE REAR WINDOW SWITCH DOES NOT FUNCTION ON DEMAND WHEN ACTIVATING TO OPEN THE BACK WINDOW IN STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. IT DOES FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECTED AND NOT AT THE WILL OF THE OPERATOR.
