2017 HYUNDAI ACCENT Unknown Or Other Problems

For the past year I keep having to replace the catalytic converter, ignition coils and spark plugs every 2/3months. I just replaced the catalytic converter in October with a tune up. A month later had to replace spark plugs.

My catalytic converter failed on my car and will eventually needed a new engine. I was driving a busy road doing about 55 miles per hour and my car suddenly dropped down to 3-5 miles per hour without warning now flashing light on the dash nothing. I could have been killed or hit causing a multi car accident. I was so scared and it was so hot I thought my engine was going to blow. I coasted back into the auto place that just preformed my oil change thinking they had done something wrong. They did a throughall diagnostic of my car and my car was read that my catalytic converter was bad. So I then got my car to the Pearson Hyundai dealership where there formally diagnosed my car stating that I needed to replace my catalytic converter for 2500 - 3000, but I had done my research and new it was a known problem. People in several Hyundai Forums have been complaining about this same issue. I asked for assistance in getting my car repaired from Pearson Hyundai, Hyundai USA, and I even wrote a letter to the CEO of Hyundai to no avail. I have been without my car since June. Hyundai has a real issue with oil consumption, bad catalytic converters and they need to replace my engine warranty or not. I feel my vehicle is very unsafe and I am nervous to drive it. I can't drive it if I wanted to more then a few feet because it chokes up and the goes 3-5 miles per hour feel like it is going to die at any moment. I am asking that Hyundai take ownership of it's faulty car parts and do the right thing by its consumers. Anything could have happened to me in that day in June and it seems nobody is worried about it. Hyundai can not just pick and chose who gets a replacements when other models are having the same issue. There were no prior warning lights or signs other than the error code that the auto place provided.

Bad engine crankshaft, engine is still under 150k miles. Experiencing same issues as other models with this engine have. Other vehicles have received a recall for engine and extended warranty protection but not this model Pressing on gas throttle but low acceleration or none in some instances

I have already submitted a report here and never had any follow up and I don't see it in the reported complaints section of this website with newer incidents already showing so I know it isn't that there is a back log. my car caught on fire while I was in the car, asleep. I have reports from the fire department, I have struggled with Hyundai for months and ultimately was denied any assistance due to I was missing one of two service records. the fire report clearly stated that fire started in the cabin of the car not the engine so a lack of an oil change shouldn't have been the reason this happened. this event has traumatized me and continues to be an enormous burden on me and my family and their lack of caring is beyond disheartening. I easily could have died that day, by all accounts I should have. I would greatly appreciate some sort of follow-up as I feel like I'm just being completely ignored and discredited. I would gladly provide more information as to the actual incident if needed but like I said I have already done so in another report and don't want to do it again if it's just going to be ignored a second time.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the brake pedal would intermittently depress the floorboard without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to the dealer where she purchased the vehicle; Future Ford Lincoln of Roseville (650 Automall Dr, Roseville, CA 95661) and was referred to an authorized Hyundai dealer for assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer where they informed her that the rotors needed to be resurfaced. The contact had the repair performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact then took the vehicle back to the Ford dealer where she was informed that the extended warranty would not cover the brake failure. Over time, the contact also experienced electrical system failures and was also informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

The vehicle made a large “pop” sound, lost power and a fire started at the engine. After the “pop” was heard, the check engine flashed on, then the car died. Noticed a smoke smell, jumped out of car and saw flames. Entire car was engulfed in minutes. No issues to the car prior to incident.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ON VACATION COMING FROM FLORIDA, THE CAR LOST POWER FOR 3 SECONDS AND CAME BACK ON AGAIN. WEIRD IT HAPPENED. HASNT HAPPENED SINCE BUT SCARY TO COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN THEN START UP AGAIN. THE MOTOR CONTINUE TO RUN BUT LIGHTS AND EVERYTHG ELSE SHUT. IT WAS WEIRD. THIS HAPPEN SUMMER 2020. WAS NOT RAINING AND WAS ON STRAIGHT HIGHWAY.

WOW ENTERING THE HIGHWAY MY CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC THE NEVER CUT OUT JUST WILL NOT DRIVE MORE THAN ABOUT 5 MILES AN HOUR EVEN WITH PUTTING MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE PEDAL TURN IT OFF FOR 30 MINUTES STARTED BACK UP STARTED DRIVING START OUT AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING ME TO WRECK MULTIPLE TIMES NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING POPPED UP I STILL HAVE NO LIGHTS ON MY DASH AND IT IS STILL NOT DRIVABLE HAD TO GET IT TOWED BY AAA I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW DID YOU RECORD THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD IS HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH NO WARNING I'M VERY BLESSED THAT MY CHILDREN WEREN'T IN THE CAR CONSIDERING THE DIESELS COMING BEHIND ME WHY ARE THE HIGHWAYS WITH THIS HAPPENING ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR DOES NOT SHUT DOWN IT JUST LOSES POWER FAR AS DRIVING ACCELERATING

NOT EXACTLY SURE WHEN BUT MY 'PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF' LIGHT STARTED TO RANDOMLY APPEAR AND NEVER TURNS OFF DESPITE THERE BEING A PASSENGER. ALSO MY BACK SEATS WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED, CREATING AN UNSAFE RIDING TIME FOR A CHILD IN A BOOSTER SEAT. WHICH IS A HUGE CONCERN BECAUSE I FREQUENTLY PROVIDE RIDES FOR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN MY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT BECOMES SO HOT THAT MY FEET ARE LITERALLY BURNING ME. I END UP TAKING MY SOCKS AND SHOES OFF DUE TO HOW HOT IT GETS. THE MOTOR FOR THE ENGINE IS INCREDIBLY LOUD DESPITE THE SMALL AMOUNT OF MILES. I HAVE ISSUES WITH ACCELERATING FROM STOP

OCCASIONALLY WHEN YOU ACCELERATE IT HESITATES AND DOES NOT RESPOND. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND A DEALER AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM BUT IT DOES HAPPEN. IT IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A VERY BUSY ROAD WHERE I LIVE THIS IS A SIDE STREET ENTERING A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY OR MOST ANYTIME. IT IS RANDOM IT HAPPENS EVER SINCE CAR WAS PURCHASED CAN'T GIVE EXACT DATE

WHEN BRAKING I HEAR A LOUD CRUNCHING SOUND SOMETIMES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL JERKS BACK. CAUSED A SLIGHT ACCIDENT WITH BUMPER DAMAGE.

THE DASH LIGHTS; BRAKE, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON. THE SPEEDOMETER ALSO DOES NOT WORK WHILE DRIVING. THE GAS GAUGE IS GOING UP AND DOWN AND NOT SHOWING THE CORRECT GAS. THE ELECTRICAL APPEARS TO BE MALFUNCTIONING, BUT THE DEALER HAS YET TO RECREATE THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN A SPAN OF A WEEK. VIDEOS WERE TAKEN BOTH TIMES IT OCCURRED ON 5/14/19 AND 5/20/19, BUT ARE TOO LARGE TO UPLOAD.

THE UNDER CARRIAGE IS NOT STABLE. THE UNDERCARRIAGE COVER FALLS OFF WHENEVER SOMETHING SCRAPES THE BOTTOM OF CAR...ON THE PASSENGER AIDE ONLY. THE SCREWS AND BOLTS VECOME BENT AND THE NUTS FALL OFF, FORCING UNDER CARRIAGE COVER TO FALL AND SCRAPE ON GROUND. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ABOUT 1 BLOCK FROM MY HOUSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
