Driver side wheel baron was scrubbing together and brake fluid was leaking I lost speed can't go over 35 miles on the speedometer my airbag light is on on the dashboard, abs, the car with 2 lines and tire along with engine sign is on I look up for recall and it listed everything my 2012 Hyundai Elantra is doing I took it to Hyundai dealership in Orlando Florida on West colonial drive and 2 hours they called said it was ready they didn't do anything all the the same lights still on on the dashboard still leaking brake fluid and wheel baron and my brakes still scrubbing against each other speed reduction they claim they did the recall would not look at it again said they did it nothing changed I'm taking a risk of fire starting from brake fluid hitting the electrical box and wheel coming of and again All the lights on the dashboard is still on my name email address and everything is wrong on the paperwork except my phone number and I gave him my license with my information on it I'm asking the advisor how can he tell me that the work was done and recall doesn't necessary fix the problem but he knew my car remember everything that's impossible I told him why the lights still on and nothing changed also I asked him how do he know it's repaired he showed me no parts came off my car to say it was replaced nothing was replaced
The brake pedal stopper pad broke and fell off which resulted in the brake lights remaining illuminated the entire time the car was driving, which is very hazardous. I am not sure how long it had been broken for before I realized that this dangerous condition was occurring. The brake lights remained on even after the car was turned off. I had to tape a piece of cardboard to the brake arm where it hits the brake light switch to get the brake lights to appropriately go off and on and to be able to relatively safely drive the car to a mechanic. The mechanic was able to determine that the broken brake pedal stopper was causing the problem. 2013 elantras were recalled for this problem but not the 2012 models. This recall may need to be expanded to 2012s.
I took my car into Burns Hyundai (Marlton, NJ) for the ABS recall on [XXX], and while leaving the lot, my car doors began locking/unlocking when I braked or accelerated... I called them and took it back on the 10/09 and I was told they did everything correctly and I would have to PAY to have my vehicle diagnosed for THEIR error. I then took my car to Meineke (right next door to Hyundai) for other services recommended by Hyundai on 10/7 (which Meineke later told me that I DON'T need to have done at all) and Meineke told me that Hyundai DID cause the software issue when doing the ABS recall. I filed a complaint with Hyundai (Hyundai Consumer Affairs Case#: [XXX]) and the solution was again for me to take my vehicle back (Burns Hyundai in Marlton OR Hyundai in Burlington) for a diagnosis, and if THEY determine the software issue is not related to whatever they did for the ABS recall, I would have to foot the diagnosis bill. Because Burns Hyundai refused to take accountability from from the onset for their error(s) with my vehicle, my car doors now unlock/lock while I'm DRIVING my vehicle which is DANGEROUS especially if I have children in the back seat. Brake lights stuck in the on position with no turn signal lights working. Brake light switch defect.
Hyundai has an active recall with a remedy for the ABS system on Hyundai Elantra. The local Hyundai dealership has zero appointments available to repair this for me for many months.
Recall 23V651000 was issued over 8 MONTHS AGO and there is STILL NO REMEDY other than to not park our cars in the garage. Maybe they are hoping our cars will rust and we'll dispose of them before they have to fix the problem. Why is NHTSA allowing this to go on for so long? What is it that you are not telling consumers? Does NHTSA have any teeth?
Since day 1. Brakes have failed. First recall took years. They “updated my software “ brakes still failed. They failed to believe me “Couldn’t find a problem “ there’s no warning lights no nothing. Out of nowhere. The Brake goes to the floor. Makes a grinding sound and your either going towards on coming traffic or a ditch. Brakes failed at numerous intersections. How I’m alive is beyond me. The best part, either the seat belt is too baggy or strangles you there’s no in between. My entire steering system is junk. wasted money on tires alignments brake pads brake censors. Dealership has another recall on these brakes with no remedy. I’ve sadly driven this car over 10 years with failing brakes. I drive with my right hand on the e brake ready to yank it at any given times. I’m honestly traumatized by this car. Engine and transmission are junk. Nightmare
On January 8, 2024, we experienced total brake failure with the brake pedal going all the way to the floor. The lack of braking occurred suddenly with no prior issues or warning. The car was transported to a Hyundai dealership for diagnosis. The dealer service department reported they could not find any issues with the braking system. The brakes apparently worked once the vehicle arrived at the dealership. Due this issue suddenly occurring without warning and a braking system recall already in effect for this vehicle, we no longer felt safe driving the vehicle and purchased a new vehicle.

NHTSA: #23V651000 I need to know when I can get this major problem fix. This is a safety issue that needs attention. The vehicles anti-lock brake system module could leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short. An electrical short could result in significant overcurrent in the ABS module, increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire while driving or parked. [XXX] I was contacted took my vehicle in and was told a fuse would be ordered and I would be called back in to to get this safety issue fixed. I just spoke with the Service Manager in Terrell and he said the remedy was taken away on [XXX], one day after I was a the dealership and ALL ordered were canceled. The brake line started leaking and I almost lost braking ability. I was told by mechanic that metal brake line had rusted out and developed a hole. I luckily saw the leaking fluid and stopped driving car. I saw that this problem has been seen in Canada and a recall was issued there. Is there any investigation open in the USA?
Good afternoon abs module has a major recall on this vehicle how is it possible were a remedy has not been found as of this date. i do not have the liberty on not using the vehicle as its the only transportation i have to get around. This needs to be repaired ASAP as this puts the driver in an uncomfortable situation i have to take this vehicle in on the 13th of this month to fix the other two recall i feel i should get a loaner vehicle until the ABS id fixed on this vehicle Please get back to me on the current situation thank you
Hyundai's recall 251 regarding the ABS system and potential for unexpected fire has gone unresolved for too long. I am unable to park my car so that it is safe and there is a concern there can be damage to other's property. Even if I park on the street away from structures, other people park their cars next to mine and I have no way of preventing this.

How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This recall states that at any moment my engine can catch fire and that I cannot drive the vehicle until further notice. What am I to do in the meantime for basic needs like driving to work, groceries, kids, etc.?
Brake failure caused by corrosion on rear brake lines. Also significant corrosion on front crossmember. There appears to be a recall in Canada for brake lines but I don't see one in the US.
The car was driven by my family. They narrowly missed a collision with another automobile. The breaks went out. The car was taken to a repair garage and, upon inspection, found the break line was rusted completely into allowing the break fluid to escape. I had the car towed to a Hyundai dealer in Clearwater Florida and got the same report. Hyundai has a service recall for underbody corrosion and has recalled nearly 300,000 vehicles in Canada to replace this problem. But now Hyundai is telling me this isn’t covered by them. This is a server safety problem with no brakes and a possible gas line explosion. I would like this problem correct before possible lives are destroyed. MARCH 14, 2023 — A Hyundai brake line recall involves more than 295,000 vehicles because the brake lines under the vehicles can corrode, fail and leak brake fluid. A driver may suddenly find out their brakes aren't working correctly, or maybe not at all. Start out brake pedal is very stiff and have to push pedal to much to engage gear selector, then as you are driving when let off accelerator pedal vehicle slows down to fast like something is engaging the brakes on the rotor.
The same issue that caused recall of these vehicles for several models years, such as this campaign: 2013-2014 Hyundai Elantra (MD/UD, JK, GD) Brake Pedal Stopper Replacement (Recall Campaign 170), is occurring in this 2012 vehicle, which does NOT yet have this recall. The Brake Pedal stopper Pad has deteriorated. I am reprinting the language of the above referenced recall as it exactly explains the safety issue with this vehicle. "The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. This will allow the brake lights to remain illuminated continuously. It can also allow the shift lever to be moved without depressing the brake pedal, or activate the engine management brake pedal override feature."
I honestly believe I was ripped off for this vehicle I’ve been having to replace one thing after another since I’d gotten it. The brake system on the front passenger side seems to keep grabbing when I’m not even touching the brake. every time I change the brakes only the front passenger side gets worn down way more then the others. I was thinking it was brake drag, but I litteraly greased my brakes and guide pens then it started making the squeeking noise again when I wasn’t touching the brake. It also compromises my engines functions. my engine lags out and I have a feeling it’s putting more torque into the engine and transmission than it was supposed to, and now is causing problems in them. It causes safety issues because the brakes are one of the most important systems on a vehicle it can cause me a bad accident if the caliper becomes to worn from heat damage, because it excessively is putting pressure on it. I haven’t taken it to the dealership to recreate the issue yet, but I did mention it in the very beginning because I had suspicions of my vehicle having problems, but they said they couldn’t find anything when they ran the vin. They didn’t actually test my vehicle which was what I needed. My check engine light has been on.

AFTER ABOUT 60,000 MILES ALL OF MY EXTERIOR LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY GOING OUT COMPLETELY. WITHIN THE LAST SIX MONTHS I HAVE CHANGED MY BRAKE LIGHTS AT LEAST 8 TIMES. MY HEAD LIGHTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED ABOUT FOUR TIMES AND MY HIGH BEAMS BOTH WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE INNER STATE AND ALL MY BACK EXTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OUT. SOME DAYS THEY MAY WORK IF I HAVE THE LIGHTS POSITION IN THE ON POSITION INSTEAD OF AUTOMATIC DAYLIGHT POSITION AND VICE VERSA. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ROUGHLY AROUND THE END OF 2017 AND OVER TIME IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE.THIS IS VERY UNSAFE TO OPERATE A VEHICLE AND ALL YOUR LIGHTS GO OUT NOT TO MENTION ITS EXPENSIVE TO CONTINUE TO REPLACE BULBS THAT WON'T WORK BEYOND A MONTH.
GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IN 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AFTER JUST 22000 MILES. MECHANIC SMOOTED ROTORS BUT SAID THE CALIPERS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS LATER AND IN CHECKING ONLINE FOUND LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. MOST OF US ARE CONCERNED THAT THE BRAKES CAN'T POSSIBLY BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IN PARTICULAR I TRY TO LEAVE A GREAT DISTANCE JUST IN CASE A SUDDEN STOP IS NEEDED AND THE BRAKES DON'T WORK LIKE THEY SHOULD. EVERY PERSON ON THE FORUM IS GETTING THE SAME LINE FROM THE HYUNDAI DEALERS, IT'S YOUR ROTORS AND PADS, NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, WE ARE REPLACING OUR ROTORS AND PADS ONLY TO HAVE THEM RUINED WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE HYUNDAI DEALER) INSISTS THAT THE CALIPERS ARE THE PROBLEM, THEY ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND ARE RUINING THE ROTORS AND PADS. THE CALIPERS JUST HAPPEN TO COST $700 FOR THE PART ALONE, AND I'M SURE LABOR WOULD BE STEEP. IN ADDITION, IF IT WAS THE CALIPERS, THOSE WOULD BE COVERED BY OUR WARRANTIES. IT REALLY APPEARS THAT HYUNDAI HAS BAD BRAKE CALIPERS ON IT 2012 AND 2013 ELANTRAS AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND PERHAPS ARE HOPING TO PUT US ALL OFF UNTIL THE CALIPERS ARE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA COLLISION TO DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. DRIVERS SIDE AND DRIVERS AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
TAKATA RECALL. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER IN 2016 AROUND THE TIME A RECAL FOR IT WENT OUT AND I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL TODAY. MY CAR SOMETIMES TAKES TWO TIMES TO ACTUALLY START. I TURN KEY AND HAVE TO EITHER HOLD IT OR STOP AND DO IT AGAIN. MY CAR HYDROPLANES EXTREMELY EASILY COMPARED TO OTHER VEHICLES. NORMALLY IT IS ONLY A SECOND BESIDES THE TIME I REAR ENDED SOMEONE WITH NO BAD WEATHER THEN ANOTHER WHILE IT WAS RAINING AND I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL AND THANK GOD NO ONE WAS AROUND ME AND I AM USED TO THE VEHICLE SO I COULD GAIN CONTROL AGAIN TRULY A MIRACLE. OTHER SMALLER ISSUES I IGNORE.
AS I BACKED OUT OF A PARKING PLACE AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE CAR IN REVERSE TO CHECK THE AREA BEHIND ME, THE CAR STALLED OUT COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE STOPPED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND AND SEEMED STUCK. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF, THEN FINALLY ON THE THIRD TRY, THE ENGINE ENGAGED AND I HAD CONTROL OF THE CAR, MOVED BACK INTO THE PARKING PLACE AND THEN MANAGED TO BACK OUT NORMALLY AND PROCEED.

DUE TO AN ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) SENSOR MALFUNCTION, THE BRAKES FOR ONE OR MORE WHEELS MAY BE APPLIED UNEXPECTEDLY AND THE ENGINE POWER MAY BE REDUCED. THESE SYMPTOMS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY ILLUMINATION OF THE ESC INDICATOR LAMP IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.

THE ENGINE IS ALSO MAKING A TICKING/KNOCKING NOISE WHEN WARMING UP. THIS HAPPENS DAILY.

OCCASIONALLY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY - ANY SPEED FROM 50-70 MPH - THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WILL FLASH, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NO ADVERSE CONDITIONS. WHILE THE LIGHT IS FLASHING, I CAN FEEL THAT MY LEFT REAR BRAKE IS APPLIED, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO CORRECT THE COURSE OF THE CAR. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR ANYMORE. THIS DID NOT START HAPPENING UNTIL AFTER I RECEIVED THE RECALL SERVICE ASSOCIATED WITH CAMPAIGN 137 FOR THE THE YAW SENSOR (WHICH DESCRIBES THE EXACT SCENARIO I AM EXPERIENCING NOW). THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS SO FAR (DATE NOTED BELOW IS MOST RECENT INSTANCE). IN THAT TIME PERIOD I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY REAR ROTORS REPLACED, AND THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED TWICE. THE SECOND TIME I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS, THEY HAD HEATED UP SO MUCH FROM DRAGGING THAT THEY HAD FUSED ONTO THE ROTOR, AND THE CALIPER WAS BROKEN.

I JUST CRASHED THIS CAR YESTERDAY, 01/09/2017 ON RT. 724 BETWEEN BIRDSBORO, PA AND GIBRALTAR, PA. I WAS DRIVING WITH A 50-55 MPH ON A 55 MPH ROAD GOING TO WORK WITH ALMOST NO TRAFFIC. I WAS DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHEN IT HAPPENED, I WAS NOT EVEN TURNING.THE SKY WAS CLEAR AND NO DISTRACTIONS. I DID AS THEY SAID ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BEFORE GOING BACK. THE TRIP CONTINUED TO READ 18 MPH AND APPROXIMATELY (AS LOW AS 10.9 AND AS HIGH AS 24.8 MPG) ONE OF THE MECHANICS (I GUESS HE WAS A MECHANIC) TOOK IT FOR A RIDE, I WAITED; HE WAS GONE AN HOUR. WHEN HE GOT BACK HE SAID HE DROVE 47 MILES AND GOT IT TO READ 33 MPG IN WHICH HE SAID HE COMBINED CITY AND HIGHWAY TOGETHER.
