Vehicle Issue Description for NHTSA Complaint: Component/System Failure: The engine of my 2013 Hyundai Elantra (VIN: [insert VIN]) completely failed at 51,000 miles. The alternator also failed and had to be replaced. There was a persistent smell of gasoline inside and outside the vehicle, creating a fire hazard. All components are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The engine failure left the vehicle completely inoperable. The gas smell created a serious fire hazard and caused me to experience health issues, requiring an ER visit. The combination of engine malfunction, electrical issues, and fuel leaks posed a risk to my safety and the safety of others while driving. Confirmation by Dealer / Mechanic: Independent mechanics inspected the vehicle and confirmed the engine failure and alternator issues. Multiple mechanics advised not to drive the car due to the fire hazard. The original selling dealer (Larry H. Miller Toyota) inspected the car and acknowledged engine problems in writing on a business card. Inspection by Manufacturer / Others: Hyundai corporate has been notified, but they declined warranty coverage as the vehicle is a second-owner car and beyond the original warranty. The dealer has also been made aware of the engine failure. Warning Lamps / Symptoms: No warning lamps indicated imminent engine failure prior to the engine dying. The first symptoms were mechanical issues, gas smell, and eventual total engine failure. Alternator failure and repeated maintenance issues occurred within 8 months of purchase. Additional Notes: Vehicle purchased at 34,000 miles; engine failed at 51,000 miles. Independent repair receipts, ER paperwork, are available to support the case.
I was driving and my car just shut down. Thank goodness I was only in a drive thru because my car was still in gear. I got it restarted and it was making a terrible noise. I took it to hyandai where they told me that I had a piston slap. Hyandai corporate knows that this is a problem. I am lucky to have not been on the highway it could have caused serious injury or death to me or anyone around me. Hyandai corporate should replace the engine that they know is bad or if someone has had it replaced they should be reimbursing. Them. It's dangerous the 1.8l 4-cylinder nu engine.
My engine has a piston slap. I have the 1.8l 4cy nu engine. It causes the car to stall unexpectedly creating a potential for serious accidents.
On August 9, 2025, my 2013 Hyundai Elantra suffered catastrophic engine failure while driving. The engine seized, creating immediate danger on the road. This vehicle is under NHTSA Recall 23V651000 (Hyundai Recall 251), which warns of fire/engine compartment risks both while parked and driving. Hyundai denied my claim, citing a vendor report that found “no thermal damage” to the ABS wiring. However, the dealer’s inspection confirmed internal engine failure with thermal damage, and I directly witnessed flames. The recall does not require ABS wiring itself to burn , it covers the broader safety hazard of fire and failure, which is exactly what occurred. In addition, Hyundai tried to shift blame onto owner maintenance. Their own recall language acknowledges failures occur due to the defect, not neglect. Furthermore, the handling by Hyundai’s case managers was unacceptable: my case was transferred without notice, calls were ignored, and I was left without clear instructions or remedy while my vehicle was disabled. I have attached the denial letter, the dealer report, the recall notice, and proof of maintenance. I request NHTSA review Hyundai’s mishandling of this recall obligation and require them to provide remedy and compensation
My 2013 Hyundai Elantra with the 1.8L Nu engine suffered catastrophic engine failure. A mechanic found metal shavings in the oil and diagnosed a failed connecting rod bearing. The Hyundai dealership quoted $10,000 for a new engine and refused warranty coverage because I am over 120,000 miles, even though this is a well-documented defect. Hyundai issued TSB 22-EM-007H covering rod bearing wear in this engine, and there have been class actions and warranty extensions for similar failures. This failure creates a safety hazard, as the engine can seize or stall suddenly while driving, increasing risk of an accident. I request NHTSA investigate this known defect in the 1.8L Nu engine, as it poses a safety risk to myself and others.
After the recall at Hyundai, my car wouldn't run and there were many lights on the dashboard. It was later checked and the instability light problem persisted. They fixed on the same time, and say something problem with the update. They later informed me that I have a problem with the brake switch, and the brake lights don't work because of it. I replaced and doesn’t work, I went back to the store and they want me to pay a fee to have it analyzed again. Even though before the recall, the lights and the car were working perfectly.
This seems to be a very common and serious issue with Hyundai vehicles. 2013 Hyundai Elanta, believed to be a frequent crankshaft position sensor issue. When driving the car, they vehicle will feel that it is losing power. When coming to a stop the engine will idle so low that it feels like it will stall or it does stall. The tachometer registered zero RPM's, even when accellearting. Attempting to accelerate up any incline and the car can not provide enough power. Sometimes the car will crank up, other times it will require time to restart. The car has stalled and low power idling multiple times, but it did happen in the middle of a 4 way intersection twice, and when the issue is present. Although we've been fortunate, no accidents have occurred, it is very unsafe for the owner and other drivers. This occurrence has happened several times over the past year. Two times it was immediately brought into the dealer service, the second time it did stall with the service member there. Both times they were unable to diagnose the problem and stated no error codes were reported. You have already issued a Recall for this same issue with a different model. Oct. 13, 2017 – Hyundai Motor America has recalled more than 400 vehicles potentially equipped with defective crankshaft assemblies, according to documentation submitted to the National Transportation Safety Administration. There are so many others that have reported this same issue and have been corrected with the replacement of the crankshaft position sensor. The dealer determined that a software update was needed. The dealer informed the contact they were waiting on a technician. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. My engine is ticking. The auto shop told me that my motor is shot and the same thing happened to my sons car. We both have the same car same year. There has been a law suit for this issue.
I was never informed through mail, email, or phone call about a potential fire hazard safety recall from Hyundai. In turn, due to my unawareness of the recall, my 2013 Elantra’s ABS pump had caught on fire, melted into the control module, and melted the ABS electrical harness to the module, short circuiting the ECU and starter as well.

I was driving down a busy highway when my car decided to die I pulled into the turning lane cause that was the closest thing to me I turned my car off and went to turn it back on in hopes that it would just fire back up and smoke went rolling from my engine. I ended up having to contact a tow truck along with an officer to block the road come to find out my engine was completely blown, I contacted the service department along with warranty services and everything and nobody is willing to assist with this issue. Apparently This is an ongoing issue with Hyundai cars.
The engine of my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT failed due to a known piston-slap issue, and it is available for inspection for a limited time before being sold to a junkyard. This failure occurred suddenly while I was on the highway, putting my safety and the safety of others at risk as I had to maneuver the car to the side of the road amidst heavy traffic. The problem has been confirmed by both the Hyundai dealership and an independent service center, who diagnosed the piston-slap issue and found the engine filled with sludge, a known issue with these engines. Despite having 28 documented service records and regular oil changes, Hyundai denied the warranty claim, citing engine neglect. Hyundai representatives have inspected the vehicle and provided a technical bulletin documenting this defect. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms indicating a problem with the engine.
While pulling out onto a major main road, my car just stopped. The RPM's remained on zero after I restarted the car. I had to get it towed. The engine light was on, and it had trouble restarting. The code read camshaft. The mechanic replaced the camshaft and no other codes registered. It shut off two times after the camshaft was replaced. I took it back to the mechanic and it shut off on him 5 times. This car is unsafe. I am afraid to drive it, especially with have a young child.
My car had trouble starting then shut off while driving. Engine light was on and the RMP's stayed at zero. Code was for camshaft. Camshaft was replaced and the car shut off three more times while driving. I only have 83,000 miles on my car.
I took my car into Hyundai due to the recall sent out to car owners. I had my ABS and Brake light that went on randomly around September. I scheduled an appointment and took it in to get it checked. Hyundai sent me away stating there were no parts to fix the issue and told me to pay for a diagnostic if I needed it looked at and to wait until the recall is remedied. Two months later my car exploded and caught fire while parked on my property putting my life and home at risk. As well as my neighbors lives who came in to help me Put out the fire.
Engine has "piston" slap or knocking, a precursor to catastrophic engine seizure, diagnosed at Joe Machen's Hyundai at 132k miles on [XXX]. Engine could seize causing rapid deceleration at any moment, while pulling out into traffic or travelling at high speeds on the highway. First noticed a clicking or ticking noise the engine made when it was cold around 130k mi, which goes away as engine warms up. Sound has gotten louder and more persistent and has turned into a knocking. Dealer told me that the entire engine needs replaced, which is prohibitively expensive. So I'm driving it now until I can get a new car or engine replacement. I've submitted a claim to the dealer and Hyundai corporate, but was denied. I don't believe that Hyundai is taking responsibility for the safe operation and reliability of their cars. I have also not found the dealer to be a support and advocate. There was a limited class action lawsuit where Hyundai settled for some faulty engines where there were metal burrs leftover in the oil passageways during manufacturing that causes engines to fail even when oil changes were done regularly [XXX] ). However, I don't think anything close to the number of engines with actual problems have been addressed. Mine wasn't in the recall but has the piston slap. I got regular oil changes with average 4,405 mi interval through today, while 7,500 mi interval is recommended in manual. I have another friend with a 2017 Elantra that failed at 95k miles, and another with a Kia that failed. Since Hyundai/Kia are very common cars, and owners often don't have the ability to replace the entire engine, and sometimes get no warning, the engine manufacturing defect needs to be looked into further by the NHTSA and Hyundai/Kia as a grave safety concern. Hyundai/Kia need to act promptly to prevent death and injury to their customers due to catastrophic engine failure. We don't feel safe. Complaint: Failure to notify or reave owned the car since October 2013 and have been notified of other defects through recalls from HMA. Which were serviced and completed on [XXX], 2023. 1.Recall 170: BRAKE PEDAL STpair while under service at a Hyundai dealer of a potentially hazardous defect. Foremost, Hyundai Motors America (HMA) never notified us of the potentially hazardous defect with motor. Had this occurrence happened on a wet, snow or hail covered road whether on an incline, decline or level surface, physical injury would have been likely. Realizing that the vehicle would not make the return trip to Kansas City. MO, the vehicle was traded in at loss for a Chevrolet Bolt. My engine will not turn over 70% of the time. My radio switches on and off on its on and changes stations randomly. Even with new brakes, it sounds like they are constantly grinding. When my gas gets low the issue gets worse to the point i can't arm my car. I have a small child and my car started smoking. I was also stranded for almost an hour because my car would not start. I just got off the phone with pearson hyundai and they told me there is no remedy for this issue and just wait. This issue started mid last year when my engine started to shake at a stop light. I have had 3 mechanics look at my car and they won't touch the issue due to the recall.
My 2013 Hyundai starter would not stop trying to start the car even when the ignition was off and the key was not in the ignition. Then it got so hot it caught fire and destroyed the alternator as well as the starter. It was so hot it melted the alternator. Also the plastic that is used to hold the headlamps and other engine parts has disintegrated. I barely touch what's left and the plastic crumbles apart. My car no longer has the plastic under the hood. I use tape to hold up the lights. Car was stopped and in a parking lot when this happened.
After taking my 2013 Hyundai Elantra in for service at a local mechanic due to hearing a new engine sound but no check engine light, I was informed that there was a much bigger problem involving a misfiring cylinder requiring a brand new engine replacement. My mechanic directed me to take in my car to a local Hyundai dealer where I was made aware that this was a known issue with Hyundai Elantras but was never made a recall leaving owners to hope that their vehicles fell under an arbitrary warranty extension that was put out by Hyundai [XXX] ) If undiagnosed or not replaced this can cause an engine seizure which could in turn lead to collisions, accidents, injury or death. I have entered my VIN into the website provided which tells me that my vehicle qualifies, however after taking my car into the dealership I was informed that my vehicle will not be covered since I bought the car pre-owned and it has been over 8 years since the manufacture of my vehicle. So because I fall out of that range I'm unable to have a known issue fixed that should be a recall? How does that make sense? My car has now been at a local Hyundai dealer for over two weeks with Hyundai Corporate kicking the tires on getting back to the service department on if they will cover any portion of the new engine. This has caused major issues and impediments in my daily work and personal life as I've had to rearrange and work around transportation. The vehicle was towed to two independent mechanics, who informed the contact that the oil level was significantly low, although an oil change was performed two weeks prior to the failure. The mechanics determined that the timing components, timing cover gasket, water pump belts, valve cover, spark plugs, and other unknown components needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. Due to the nature of the manufacturer's recall; (Hyundai Elantra 2013- Manufacturer Recall Number 251 "URGENT: FIRE RISK WHEN PARKED" & NHTSA Recall Number 23V651000) that has been issued to my car, I am now at risk and in danger, both physically and financially. This recall notice has made me aware that I can no longer park my car safely in my garage, nor in my driveway, without putting myself, my family and all neighbors residing in the surrounding houses at risk of causing a residual house fire. In addition, I fear for the safety of all innocent bystanders while driving this vehicle where other cars are present due to the fact that this potentially immanent electrical shortage may occur while parked or driving on the street. Since this issue has caused me to take these measures to protect myself and others, I have come to the realization that I must now look into selling and replacing my beloved car, however as stated above, the urgent recall notice that now exists on this vehicle will make it impossible to obtain a fair asking price from any potential buyers, leaving me unable to compensate for the financial investments I've made in regards to purchasing and maintaining this vehicle over the years. This issue now deems my car essentially worthless in its current state, and with no remedy available, I'm unable to sell this vehicle for any sum that's close to the fair market value that I deserve. Thus far, I have been fortunate enough to not experience any malfunctions that have led to a fire, BUT with a remedy not being available to solve this issue I'm left with the constant stress & fear that I may cause harm to myself or others by simply going about my daily tasks, and have no way to financially recover from the necessary purchase of a substitute vehicle that is required for me to get to work, tend to my family, and ultimately pay my bills. I hope I have made you aware how crucial it is this gets resolved promptly before substantial harm does come to me.

Car has a ticking sound, car has died on me multiple times. The vehicle has stopped moving regardless of pressing on accelerator and died leaving me stranded, feeling unsafe. I have been driving at 40 mph and then seem to lose power, making it to where can only go 10 to 20 mph or totally dying. I was also having issues with key fobs not working. Door would open, unlock and then not, car stalling. No lights illuminating on dash. Battery in fob replaced after car being towed to shop after stalling, dying issue and I was basically told they didn't know what was up with the stalling, maybe fobs. I had an oil change done and full diagnostic, sent on way without answers. Happened again, electrical issues, fob not working, stalling, start hesitation and dying, no power. I had it towed to different shop and was told had couple of codes showing up even though no check engine light on, they stated a caliper was leaking along with other oil leak and crankshaft sensor needed replaced, which got fixed. The car has 98000 miles on it (around there) and I see safety recall posted. I finance this car and have literally only had it not even 5 months. I do not feel safe driving it. I've been stranded, at times key fobs and locks act up on it still, the ticking is definitely a concern, RPMS off and revs up at times while also lacking pick up and go. I contacted my local Hyundai and they stated no resolution on safety recall yet, can schedule an appointment and pay for diagnostic, which would make my 3rd diagnostic over the last month or so. I need something remedied. I transport myself and at times my children and I do not feel safe in this vehicle which again purchased just about 5 months ago from Car Max. Help please!
My car keeps breaking down whenever I slow down or press on the brakes. I have a malfunction indicator lamp and I was notified via letter to call Hyundai asap to get a service so that my car doesn’t light on fire. I went to a mechanic who told me the engine is bad and it’s also a real from Hyundai. I called numerous times, and every time I am told there’s nothing they can do about it at this time. They keep telling me to wait and they don’t give me any options. This is a frustrating situation. I drive two small children in my car and I don’t want anything to happen to them because the Hyundai dealership refused to fix their mistake.

UNKNOWN - The safety of myself and my kids are being put at risk with the recent fire risk recall not being resolved by Hyundai immediately. I do not feel safe driving this car and I have notified/called my insurance company/my finance company, and the local Hyundai dealership for assistance and no help was provided to me. I need this resolved immediately.

The engine in my 2013 Elantra started making noises and the car stopped while my son was driving. He was able to get it to a nearby parking lot. We ended up driving it 1 mile to the mechanic who said “it might be time to get rid of this car”. It needs a new engine. Mechanic talked to the local Hyundai dealership, gave them the VIN and dealer said I would likely be eligible for an engine replacement under a recall or a factory warranty. I towed it to the dealer to do their own “diagnosis” before they could give me the official word that my engine would be replaced. Dealer kept my car for five weeks. They ultimately provided an estimate of $3K worth of repairs that have little to do with the engine failing. I'm not sure they even looked at the engine. They told me the car has too many miles and would no longer be eligible for an engine replacement. I ultimately had the car towed back to my mechanic. The mechanic is estimating about $8K-$10K worth of parts and labor to replace the engine. The mechanic does not suggest using a used engine. My car is displaying the same issues as the other engine recalls, but my particular model is not covered (yet). The 2014 Elantra is part of the engine recall. My 2013 Elantra is not covered but is still displaying the same symptoms, and the engine knocking noise and engine failure are the same. The "Check Engine" light is on. I have this car parked in a parking garage, unable to be driven, while I pay off the remaining balance to Carmax. My mechanic says it could "blow up" if I drive it, and at a minimum, the engine can fail while driving causing a safety risk to the driver and passengers and any surrounding vehicles or pedestrians. I can provide mechanic's contact information if needed.
1. Coolant hose leaked into the engine causing the engine to smoke and head gasket to be blown. Available for inspection upon request until I sell the vehicle since I need a vehicle for work. 2. The engine failure could have occurred on a roadway, and the coolant in the engine could have combusted further. When the engine is on, you can smell smoke. 3. The problem was confirmed by an auto shop and they recommended that the Hyundai dealership perform a repair. 4. The component has not been inspected by anyone other than two auto shops at this time, who both confirmed that either the head gasket could be replaced as an attempted fix, but that the issue could remain/become worse if the entire engine is not replaced. 5. Check engine light came on, checked codes at a shop within 10 minutes - only code present was an engine thermometer. Drove 20 minutes home. Drove to shop in AM. Shop described issue and recommended taking it to dealership for repair. Drove home and engine was riding rough, and began to smoke. I have done research online and communities online refer to this as "sudden engine death" and an issue that occurs often with this make and year of vehicle.
The engine shut down while driving, it turns on again if I go neutral and turn it on but very dangerous since it already happens me on the freeway also when you’re on a stop or light with the brakes on the car start to try to move even whit the brakes all the way down, engine make some noise when you start it when is cold. car has been well maintained
Car randomly shuts off while idling . Will restart , but will not go past 10 mph leaving me either stranded in the middle of the road or causing me to pull over in unsafe areas . When restarting , engine is very hesitant. Car will be very shaky so I have to keep the car off for about 5 minutes before I restart the car . At that time the check engine light will turn on , as well as the wheel alignment and the battery .
I dropped my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited off on 4/3/23 for an oil change and to diagnosis and repair my engine stalling and engine boggling and repair headlight restoration. When I picked up my car I was told that they found metal shaving in my oil and on the oil dip stick and that I would need a new engine. Might I add, I don't have any lights blinking or remaining on such as my oil, engine, etc. I have kept up with all my maintenance over the years and have had my car service when it was due. While driving my car, it'll lose power and jerk forward. Other times, the car will start up with no RPMs registering while the car is moving up to 60 miles. The car has also displaced the sluggish barely moving forward action when the car's RPMs are not registering. The car back fires and putts along and during a traffic lights or stop sign the car will shut off. It even started shutting off while back-up into my parking space. There is clearly something wrong with these engines and should be covered under the manufacturer warranty. I am still in disbelief about my vehicle and have been getting the run around from a couple different Hyundai dealerships saying my particular engine was discontinued and I should check with the service department to see if my car qualifies for the manufacturer warranty repair but no one will answer the phone so I decided to call another dealership well outside my area for service. This car is by far DANGEROUS to drive and without having any codes generated or light indicators advising me of an engine issue is extremely upsetting. I use my vehicle to take my mother to her many doctor appointments, my grandson to various places and I use the car to get to and from work each day. Well before all of these issues, my break lights and some other lights in the rear continued to blow and had to be replaced and no one said anything about there being an issue and I did not have the appropriate direction to submit an issue.
Catastrophic engine failure at 75k miles due to metal shavings in oil. Had a recent oil change, had no engine light come on or any issues beforehand. I was driving on the highway when my 2013 Hyundai Elantra started to not accelerate until stalling. I couldn’t pull over at the time of it starting due to construction blocking off any pull off side lane. Luckily was able to have it roll until a safer area to pull off highway, but if it had stalled completely when it started I would of been stranded on a highway with limited room for cars to go around due to construction. When it did stall out I had to put it in neutral and physically push it into a parking lot after it gave up at a busy 4 way stop light. Towed to shop where they reported issues with the bearings and piston causing metal shavings in oil. Engine replacement required. Called dealership, denied warranty to replace engine.
My transmission had to be fixed due to stopping unexpectedly due to gear changing automatically by itself, brakes keep leaking fluid then touching the ground with a tire popping sound underneath , and engine is messing up without warning of any problems with

I have taken my 2013 Hyundai Elantra to 2 different shops where they have both informed me that the engine knock that is occuring is a known issue with this make and model. Unfortunately, it was brought to my attention that my VIN is not part of that recall. I am hoping to have my vehicle included in recall number TXXM warranty. I have replaced the lights and battery many times and something keeps draining it. The outside brake lights sometimes stay on. So does the front running lights. The car sometimes wants to stall and when I press on the gas pedal it finally catches but still seems like it is going to shut down. The steering column has a really bad clicking in it and doesn’t seem to be tight anymore.
Vehicle randomly stalls without warning due to a manufacturer defect commonly known as Hyundai piston slap. The car stalled on me on the expressway 4 times on a single trip causing a potentially very dangerous situation. No engine warning lights before or after the stall. The vehicle was inspected by my local Hyundai service shop and the fix is to replace the small block. Hyundai is well aware of this issue with these vehicles.
Engine failure diagnosed on 2013 Elantra GT at 47,000 miles. No warning light only a ticking sound and in the original lawsuit however my state does not qualify in Nevada for a replacement. Thousands have failed per the lawsuit yet Hyundai appears to be denying claims left and right and many other types, years and models were excluded based on where you live. The lawsuit was a mere band aid with many loopholes that all Hyundai to deny claims and have customers driving in a vehicle that can stall any minute and cause bodily harm or death. Hyundai is keenly aware and I was told by dealership to have my towed in, but no way they will approve it. I am out of pocket $10,000 cash for a car that likely ends up being sold for scrap. Why on earth is your agency allowing this madness to continue? Every single Hyundai that an engine fails in involved in this lawsuit should be replaced or eligible for a buy back but that is not what is happening.
First engine replaced at ~ 60,000 miles under warranty by Hyundai due to bad bearings. My current engine, now at ~ 118,000 miles is exhibiting the same symptoms as the first engine, i.e., knocking and a burnt oil smell. Hyundai tested the engine and once again, determined via testing the bearings are bad again but now claiming they are not responsible for replacing the second engine under warranty. I've seen many reports and have spoken with personal contacts about Hyundai/Kia engines suffering catastrophic damage sometimes resulting in fires. I have three kids who regularly ride in this vehicle and so as a parent, I am concerned for their safety but also that Hyundai seems to be evading their responsibilities as it relates to the product warranty and the safety requirements of the NHTSA. No warning lamps or other vehicle indicators directed me towards this problem. Instead, I can hear the issue which prompted me to perform an independent oil analysis followed by a visit to the Hyundai dealership for an inspection. Now, it appears that I will be stuck with a defective, fire prone engine, that I may incorrectly become my financially responsibility to amend. If so, why should I expect this third engine, or the fourth, or the tenth to be any different or more safe. Thank you from a very concerned father and husband with extremely high mechanical aptitude.
My car tends to shut off on its own while driving. I’ve fixed the fuel pump thinking that can be the issue due to the car passing “green” on the machine stating everything is good. No lights on my dashboard, engine tends to shake. RPM arrow is all over the place. The car is well taken care of. I’m spending a lot of money on mechanics fixing things that clearly aren’t the issue with the vehicle.

I started my car and the engine took a moment to turn on, then when I was at a stop light the car started to shake and then turned off. I then turner the car back on and the engine light came on, the car continued to shake and I tried accelerating. When I did I had to push the gas all the way down to go fast, the car slowly got up to a speed of 40 mph and that was all. I made it to a body shop and they told me it was a crankshaft sensor issue. The safety of myself was in question since I needed to accelerate and intermittent stalling of the car was happening. I was shaking hoping I would get to my destination.
This is about the 3rd time I had to change my battery sensor since I brought the car. The battery leaks erosion and messes up the sensor. The car won’t start, lock and anything. I’m consistently replacing the battery and sensor.

All warning lights will come on the car usually when car is stopped at a stopped sign or light. Car will not be able to move but air is still on and radio is still on. If car is then turned off and then turned back on, no lights will appear and car will drive normally. Car also will start gliding like it has lost power. Usually putting the car in park and then in drive will correct the issue but not warning lights will come on.
In March of 2022 I took my car to have its regularly scheduled oil change at Mellow Motors and while I was there the service technician recommended I make a follow up appointment with the Hyundai dealership due to irregularities he noticed in the engine. I took my car to the dealership and dropped it off hoping this would be a minor concern that would be resolved quickly. When Hyundai initially contacted me that they would need to do a more thorough evaluation/diagnosis, I was surprised and concerned that something more significant may be wrong with the engine as the car was relatively new (previously garaged and serviced every 6 months), had low miles (54,000 miles), and had been taken care of extremely well since it was purchased new off the lot by my grandparents. When I started gresearching engine concerns in Hyundai Elantra’s 2013, I was even more surprised to find that engine issues were actually not uncommon in this year of Hyundai Elantras, and the issue known as "piston slap" not only lead to total engine failure, but could develop for no discernible reason, and was so common Hyudai had settled a class action lawsuit related to the matter instead of facing a recall on these vehicles. I found out I missed the date to file a claim by 8 months. Despite learning this, given the circumstances of the engine diagnosis (“Started vehicle found piston slap noise. Found scuffing on all four cylinder walls. As per TSN replacement of block assembly and necessary component required”) and learning that my car was included in the settlement, I figured Hyundai would offer to fix my engine under the settlements extended warranty clause to ensure their cars to ensure safety, or at the very least, offer to partially pay for the engine replacement, but I have been denied coverage for this engine concern. I think this is a very significant safety concern and that this year of Hyundai Elantra's should be recalled and replaced.
My air bags never work and my engine is starting to become a problem.
I noticed a loud ticking noise from my engine 6 months ago and took it to my mechanic assuming it needed an oil change sooner. However the noise became much worse the past month and a half and again took it to my mechanic which found it is an issue inside the motor itself and they could not figure it out except many 2013 Hyundai Elantra's have in fact had engine failure and recommended I take it to a dealer. I instead took it today to NTB assuming it was another issue with tires and unable to accelerate which almost caused me an accident on the interstate. NTB found that this is a serious issue with the engine and confirmed Hyundai is aware of the issue but will not issue any recalls due to this. My car is only 9 years old and when I bought it brand new there were already many recalls that was repaired. When I called the Hyundai dealership near me, I was told no recalls were issued but they are aware of the problem and just for me to bring it in it will be extremely costly just to look at it, and around $5,000/$7,000 to replace the engine if this is the issue which was confirmed by 2 auto shops. I have found many reports and documentation of engine failure with not being able to accelerate and my car has done this 3xs on an extremely busy interstate in which I was almost rear ended and would have been killed. I will once again contact the Hyundai Dealership near me with hopes of receiving a free inspection of the engine. I will also be sending information to our West Virginia Attorney General and close friend Patrick Morrisey along with documentation of recent and previous repairs of Brakes and countless purchasing of tires as well as having to replace tie rods numerous times. This also includes my cruise control will accelerate which I have received a ticket even when I told the officer my cruise control was stuck and no matter what I tried it would not shut off including when I stopped and put my car in park. I was on a 7 hour drive from a weekend trip back home and about 2 and a half hours in, my car started having issues accelerating up an incline and my check engine light came on. I stopped and took the car to a mechanic. The vehicle wasn’t throwing any codes to indicate a problem and all the other components were just fine. When the mechanic took it for a test drive, it blew white smoke out the back and he said my engine was done and that I needed a new one. This car is not new but it’s not that old either. It’s at about 109,000 miles, so it should still have life in it. I was left stranded on a long drive because of premature engine failure.
While I was driving my car, my engine completely died. No check engine light had come on at all prior to the engine dying. There was a clicking sound the motor had been making for about a month but car was running completely fine and normal all the way up until the engine dying. Upon googling 2013 Hyundai Elantra engine issues, I found that many 2013 Hyundai Elantra owners had experienced the exact same problem that I had. I even found out that this model had been recalled in Canada for this exact same problem but for some reason, there was never a recall in the US. There was also a lawsuit in the US in 2021 addressing these issues with this faulty engine. This is a clear safety hazard as my car could have died on a highway or at a busy intersection (which I was very close to). A mechanic diagnosed the issue with a worn out timing chain (which is exactly what I had found online in the complaints made by other owners). Here are the notes from the mechanic: VERIFIED CONCERN. FOUND TIMING CHAIN VERY WORN OUT AND HAS LARGE AMOUNT OF SLOP IN CHAI. ALSO FOUND ALOT OF LIFTERS NOT FILLING WITH OIL AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO CAMS. TECH RECOMMENDS TIMING CHAIN KIT CAM PHAZERS ALSO BOTH CAMS ALL LIFTERS AND ROCKERS. ALSO VALVE COVER DUE TO PCV VALVE SYSTEM FAILURE. My car was sent to the dealership by recommendation of the mechanics to see if they would replace the engine since this is a well known issue but Hyundai refused to replace the engine.
Our 2013Hyundai Elantra Gt started making a ticking noise in the engine and now sounds like a lawn mower. Our car has been inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership and we were told it needs a new engine or our current engine will seize on us while driving. Recently my car has had trouble starting, and the engine has sounded weak while running. While out my engine light came on the dash. I took my car to the parts store and they put the computer on to read the engine light. It stated that there are misfires in the coils. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. This put people inside the car at a risk as a engine failure couldve happened at full speed. No this has vehicle has not been inspected. My dash had zero lights on, until the engine light came on. This is my daily driver and can not afford this vehicle to be down.
I own a 2013 elantra and was sent in the mail in the spring a class action lawsuit from Hyundai stating there was an engine piston knock which could lead to engine failure. There was a timeframe to submit the claim to coorprate so I brough the vehical in to be diagnosed with the engine issue. Sport Hyundai had the car for months stating they were waiting for the tool. First the wrong size was ordered then the tool broke. The dealership had our car for about four months and still didn't have the correct tool. So I had the car moved to Millville dealership which finally after six months of having the car was diagnosed and by that time cooperate office said we missed the deadline. I was back and forth with the dealership and cooperate stating the issues. No one helped us I have documentation that when we brought the vehicle in to be diagnosed when it was moved to another dealership. No one has helped I reached out to cooperate multiple times and they stated there was nothing they can do. The car we now have back still with the engine knock that could lead to engine failure or catching on fire while driving.

At approximately 35,000 to 45,000 miles my car started stopping violently on its own. It would jerk violently,make loud grinding and squealing noises and stop randomly on its own free will. This started happening repeatedly. Then after it would happen the car would not go when pressing the gas pedal. It would take quite a while before the car would get momentum back. This became very dangerous to myself and my kids. I purchased this car brand new. I got rid of it by trading it in at 78,000 miles. I contacted Hyundai and tried to resolve the issue and they were no help whatsoever.
The car experienced (1) poor acceleration, (2) check engine light come on, (3) engine stalling, (4) Tachometer drops to zero. It was first found the MAP sensor was faulty. After the sensor was replaced, the car ran but stalled again intermittently. It was found the problem was caused by crank shaft position sensor (fault code P0335). After the senor was replaced about three weeks ago, the car has been running fine.

WE DID EVERYTHING RECOMMENDED. THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME DOCUMENTS, I HAVE ASKED MANY TIMES FOR THEM(MCGRATH HYUNDAI OF CEDAR RAPIDS). THIS WAS 2 YEARS AGO. WE ENTERED A CLASS ACTION SUIT THINKING WE WOULD GET THE HELP WE DESERVED. WE AREN'T GETTING HELP FROM THE SETTLEMENT AND THEY ARE NOW SAYING WE WERE OUT OF WARRANTY UPON PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. OUR DAUGHTER DONE ALL OF HER OIL CHANGES REGULARLY AND DIDN'T HOTROD THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS ALSO GOING SLOW UP OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. NO NOISE PRIOR TO THIS AT ALL.

MY MODEL AND LOCATION MAKES ME ELIGIBLE FOR A NEW MOTOR. HYUNDAI IS DENYING ME A NEW MOTOR BASED ON A REBUILT TITLE. MY CAR WAS REAR-ENDED AND THE BODY WAS REBUILT. THE ENGINE WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE ACCIDENT. MY ENGINE IS KNOCKING AND WILL SEIZE UP AND QUIT ANYTIME IF MY MOTOR IS NOT REPLACED, WHICH HYUNDAI IS REFUSING TO DO. THEY ARE KNOWINGLY SENDING ME DOWN THE ROAD WITH A FACTORY DEFECTIVE MOTOR THAT COULD POTENTIALLY SEIZE UP ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS MOTOR SHOULD BE RECALLED BY HYUNDAI SO THAT ALL OF US EFFECTED ARE ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY.

PATRONS WHO WERE PARKED NEARBY HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE ELECTRICAL SPARKS AND THEN WITNESSED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD WHICH THEN BURST INTO FLAMES. THEY RAN IN TO RETRIEVE MY FAMILY AND I AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME WITHIN 10 MINUTES TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THAT TIME. THE CARS STEERING LOCKED UP AND COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR MORE THAN TO VEER IT OFF THE ROAD WITH THE FORWARD MOMENTUM FROM COMING DOWN A HILL. I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE OIL LEVEL BEING TOO LOW. I HAD JUST HAD IT REPLACED AND CHECKED ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE. THEN I WAS TOLD IT WAS A CONNECTING ROD THAT HAD BROKEN. I HAVE RECENTLY READ ABOUT RECALLS FOR OTHER KIA AND HYUNDAI VEHICLES DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE PROBLEMS FOR THE SAME REASON. I AM REPORTING THIS ISSUE IN HOPE THAT THIS AGENCY WILL CONSIDER INVESTIGATING TO SEE IF THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO HYUNDAI ELANTRAS. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE REPEATING AMONG OTHER VEHICLES MADE BY HYANDAI IN THE SAME TIME FRAME MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED. THEY SAY ITS NORMAL FOR IT TO RUN ROUGH. ALSO THE RUBBER STEERING COUPLER WENT BAD. WAS MAKING A THUD NOISE WHEN STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. ALSO A TSB FOR THIS....NO RECALL. BUT WAIT THERES MORE! THE CLOCK SPRING IS ALSO BAD! TSB FOR THIS TOO! BAD CLOCK SPRING RESULTS IN THE LOSS OF POWER TO THE BUTTONS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I REPLACED THE STEERING COUPLING, I FORGOT TO PLUG IN A WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE WHEEL AND THE BUTTONS STARTED WORKING AGAIN BUT HAD NO POWER STEERING. PLUGGED THE HARNESS BACK IN AND HAD STEERING BUT THE BUTTONS NO LONGER WORKED. PRETTY SURE HYUNDAI IS UPLOADING ERROR CODES AND GIVING PEOPLE THE RUN AROUND IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET MORE MONEY. RECALL THIS CRAP ALREADY BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS. HOLD THIS COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING CRAP TO PEOPLE.

MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THAT VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM REPLACE ENGINE UNDER MAJOR CONCERN OF SAFETY ISSUES : VEHICLE STALLING. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP HAS VEHICLE BUT AS OF DATE HAS NOT ANSWERED TO REPLACING DEFECTIVE ENGINE UNDER A WARRANTY.
IN NOVEMBER OF 2016 NOTICE CAR BEGAN TO HESITATE AND COMING HOME FROM A DRIVE THE VEHICLE DIED IN FRONT OF HOUSE. TOOK TO HYUNDAI VACAVILLE AND THEY STATED IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM. UPDATE APPLIED, DROVE HOME AND NOTICED TICKING FROM ENGINE. DROVE TO WORK AND NOTICED LOWER GAS MILEAGE AND CONTINUED TICKING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THIS TIME IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTORS AND TO PUT IN CLEANER. DROVE HOME AND THEN TO WORK AND NOTICED TICKING GETTING LOUDER. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO DEALER AND THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET WITH A RE MANUFACTURED FACTORY ENGINE WHICH WAS INSTALLED AROUND 12/23/2016. SINCE THEN STILL NOTICE A TICKING WITH NEW ENGINE AFTER PUTTING ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON IT AND CONCERNED THAT I WAS PROVIDED WITH A BAD ENGINE AGAIN. I KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE AS I DID WITH THE FIRST ENGINE WITH OIL CHANGES EVERY 3,000 MILES INSTEAD OF THE THE RECOMMENDED 7,500. I HAVE NOTICED MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF OWNERS OF MODEL YEAR 2013 WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THE FAILURE WITH THE FIRST ENGINE WAS AT 127, 565 WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD STILL NOT HAVE HAPPENED AS I HAVE A 2010 ACCENT WITH 180,000 AND NO PROBLEMS, AND HAD SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES THAT WENT BEYOND 200,000 WITH NO ISSUES. I NOTICED THE TICKING NOISE BACK THEN TO BE PRONOUNCED WHEN ACCELERATING UP HILL AND WITH CURRENT ENGINE USUALLY HAVE TO WARM IT UP SO THAT WHEN I DRIVE I DO NOT HEAR ANY TICKING.

I PURCHASED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AS A NEW VEHICLE BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2013. I RECENTLY DECIDED TO UPGRADE MY VEHICLE TO A SUV. AFTER PURCHASING THE NEW VEHICLE, MY INTENTION WAS TO SELL MY OLD VEHICLE (THE ELANTRA) TO MY FIANCE. PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE TITLE TRANSFER, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE ELANTRA AND BROUGHT IT IN TO TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK DONE ON 2/3/18 (THERE WERE 96,631 MILES ON THE CAR AT THIS SERVICE). WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE RECALL WORK, THE CAR WAS MAKING A SLIGHT TICKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALERSHIP PROCEEDED TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR, AND ALSO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD SOME BULBS OUT AND THAT I WOULD NEED NEW TIRES SOON. THEY FAILED TO ADDRESS THE TICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE.WE PROCEEDED WITH THE TITLE TRANSFER ON 2/7/18. MY FIANCE DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN TO WALSER HYUNDAI ON 2/12/18 TO HAVE THE TICKING NOISE ADDRESSED. WE WERE THEN INFORMED THAT THE CAR IS IN NEED OF MAJOR ENGINE REPAIR AND THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD BE $5,900. I INQUIRED ABOUT THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WHICH WOULD COVER SUCH REPAIRS UP TO 100,000 MILES AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE WE TRANSFERRED THE TITLE THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. WE WOULD NOT HAVE PROCEEDED WITH THE TITLE TRANSFER UNTIL THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THE DEALERSHIP NEGLECTED TO ADDRESS THE NOISE BECAUSE THEY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS (THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE), SAW THE CAR WAS ALMOST PAST THE 100K MILE LIMIT FOR THE WARRANTY FIGURED THAT BY THE TIME WE BROUGHT IT BACK IN, THE CAR WOULD BE OVER THE MILEAGE LIMIT FOR THE WARRANTY. I DID FILE A COMPLAINT/CASE WITH HYUNDAI AND THEY AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THE COST OF THE REPAIR.

AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AT A HYUNDAI DEALER, I DID A QUICK ACCELERATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP ONTO A BUSY ROAD. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY LOSS ALMOST ALL POWER, WITH HEAVY WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE REAR OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR SMELLED LIKEKE BURNING OIL/A VERY HOT ENGINE. I PARKED THE CAR AND WALKED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM ON OIL IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IT WAS SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE DURING ACCELERATION. THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAD THIS PROBLEM. AFTER REPLACING THE ENGINE AND A FEW OTHER PARTS, I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICKUP IN MARCH 2017. I GOT IN THE CAR AND NOTICED A NOISE. THE ADVISOR AND TECH SAID ITS BECAUSE OF A NEW PUMP AND WILL GO AWAY AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES. IMMEDIATELY AFTER DRIVING OFF AND ENTERING THE HIGHWAY I HEARD A DRAGGING NOISE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE AND PLACED ME IN ANOTHER RENTAL. IT IS NOW MAY 2017 AND THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACE TWICE AND OTHER PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACE MULTIPLE TIMES AS WELL. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HYUNDAI HAS SENT OUT AN ENGINEER TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT IT APPEARS THEY DO NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM AND/OR CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM NO LONGER CONFIDENT IN THE SAFETY OF MY CAR AND HYUNDAI VEHICLES OVER ALL.

BOUGHT VEHICLE, CASH, FROM ENTERPRISE CAR SALES IN MONTCLAIR, CA. IT WAS A "CERTIFIED" USED CAR, SUPPOSEDLY. IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDED "TINNY". SOUNDED LIKE A SEWING MACHINE, IT WAS KNOCKING. ALSO, WHEN I LIFTED THE OIL STICK, SMOKE CAME OUT OF ENGINE. THIS WAS WITHIN 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE. THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST COMPRESSION ON INTERSTATE 10 IN APRIL, 2015. I TOLD BOTH HYUNDAI AND ENTERPRISE WHO IGNORED MY COMPLAINTS. FINALLY, AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND THREATS, ENTERPRISE TOOK THE CAR IN AND SENT IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHO CLAIMED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE CAR BEGAN LOSING POWER AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER, 2016 AND FINALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN ARCADIA, CA. NO COMPRESSION. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY HOUSE. I TOOK IT TO PRIVATE SHOP WHO SAID "ZERO COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER #1, POSSIBLE BURNED OUT VALVE '. SEE ATTACHED. CALLED HYINDAI AND ENTERPRISE AGAIN. BOTH DENIED RESPONSIBILITY, AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I HAVE TO NOW PAY OVER $1,000 TO GET ENGINE REBUILT. THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND I AM ENTTIED TO REFUND OR A NEW CAR.

PER SERVICE CENTER'S RECOMMENDATION, VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT SERVICE CENTER PENDING APPROPRIATE REPAIRS/REPLACEMENTS. IT WAS NOTED THAT THE WIRES THAT WERE CHEWED THROUGH WERE COATED WITH SOY-BASED MATERIALS INSTEAD OF PLASTIC WHICH HAD BEEN USED IN EARLIER MODELS. SERVICE CENTER CLAIMS TO SEE THIS ISSUE AT LEAST A FEW TIMES PER MONTH. RODENT DETERRENT TAPE IS BEING PURCHASED FROM HONDA (WHO ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGES THIS ISSUE AND IS CURRENT THE SUBJECT OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT). TAPE WILL BE WRAPPED AROUND WIRES FOLLOWING REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE A VERY ROUGH IDLE, SHAKING NOTICEABLY. THE ENGINE THEN STALLED. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS OF TRYING, I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN BUT STILL EXPERIENCED A VERY ROUGH IDLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD LOOKED AT MY CAR, THEY TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE BEARINGS HAD FAILED, AND THAT WHEN THEY DON'T WORK PROPERLY TO REDUCE FRICTION IN THE ENGINE, METAL SHARDS CAN GET INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSE PROBLEMS. AS I UNDERSTAND IT FROM READING ABOUT THE RECENT CLASS-ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI, THIS SOUNDS VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE SONATA ENGINES THAT ULTIMATELY LED TO THE RECALL. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR ABOUT THE WARRANTY (I'M STILL UNDER THE FULL 5 YEAR/60K MILES CPO WARRANTY), BUT WANTED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE SINCE WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD IS SO SIMILAR TO THE ISSUES WITH THE SONATA ENGINES. I DROPPED IT OFF TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. ALMOST A YEAR LATER (JULY?) 2014, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THE CAR SAT OUT IN THE 80 WEATHER IN THE SUN ALL DAY. I CAME OUT FROM WORK AND MY CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON; THIS TIME, THE ENGINE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN CONTINUE TO TURN LIKE WHEN YOUR BATTERY IS DEAD. I CALLED ROADSIDE AND HE JUMPED THE CAR. HE ALSO CHECKED THE BATTERY AND SAID IT SHOULDN'T DO THAT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO DEAD. I AGAIN TOOK INTO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO REPLICATE MY ISSUE, LEAVING IT IN THE SUN; NO LUCK. ANOTHER ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN I BRAKE. IF I NEED TO BRAKE FAST AND HARD IT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE THE CAR IT'S GOING TO FALL APART. I TOOK IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN FEBRUARY 2015 AND IT WAS DETERMINED I NEEDED MY ENGINE REPLACED. HYUNDAI AGREED TO REPLACE IT UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. I HAD 32,500 I BELIEVE MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MULTIPLE CARS SITTING ON THEIR LOT WHICH NEEDED THEIR ENGINES REPLACED.
