2015 Hyundai Elantra is consuming oil. I have changed the oil on all of my vehicles ever since I have owned vehicles and this vehicle purchased used for my children and maintained by me is consuming oil requiring addition of +/- a quart of oil between trips from Baltimore, MD to New Haven, CT. Oil lamp on dashboard is lighting indicating low level of oil upon return to home just north of Baltimore December 15, 2025 after a trip north to New Haven CT November 29, 2025. Oil was topped off prior to trip back to school on November 28, 2025 and 16 days later after trip home on December 15, 2015, oil lamp on dash is lighting and oil level is low. There are no observations of oil leaking at home or in parking garage at New Haven, CT

My 2015 Hyundai Elantra fits the 'window' of Elantras where the engine transmission slips gears without notice. Hyundai dealers have been replacing transmissions at no cost, if the car is still under 100,000 miles, as part of a class action settlement. As the second owner, I have no warranty rights to get Hyundai to fix my car at no cost. This is despite the Hyundai dealer just today (Aug 20, 2025) here in Las Vegas was ready to replace my transmission at no cost until they found out I am the second owner. The car is still unsafe. The need is still relevant. The dealer was willing at first. Now I am faced with an unsafe vehicle forced to possibly pass in excess of $4,000 to fix an issue that has been know and litigated.

Vehicle routinely (3,000-5,000 miles, depending on oil used) maintained by qualified mechanics. Around 129,000 miles the engine began to knock / rattle. Mechanic was unable to determine the cause, but the rattle was only present between 0-40mph and would settle at higher speeds. Mechanic also noted the absence of sludge. Around 133,000 miles the vehicle stalled. The vehicle would start, but would stall again. Mechanic diagnosed timing chain failure and that the vehicle is burning oil. Vehicle has never indicated low oil, but it is now manually checked and burning about a quart of oil per 1,000 miles. Replaced timing chain and vehicle has continued to operate. Around 134,500 miles some power loss during low-speed acceleration and a slight engine rumble at lower speed. Mechanic diagnosed a wrist pin failure on cylinder 2. Vehicle may be inspected upon request. Vehicle stalls create some safety concerns, but have only occurred at low speeds. Vehicle timing chain was diagnosed by two different mechanics. When the vehicle was brought to a Hyundai dealership for a trunk latch recall in May of 2024 at 125,000 miles, no issues were noted. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance represenstatives since May of 2024, with no reported issues. No check engine notifications or warnings appeared until the vehicle stalled. Prior to slightly decreased acceleration, the only notable indicator of an issue is the persistent engine rattle (knock, piston slap). The engine rattle began in February of 2025.

Hello my vehicle developed a knock and it has become so much worse, I will not drive it. Hyundai has played games with me. My vehicle has been at Jenkins Subaru three times at Hyundai request. This third time my vehicle had to be towed to Jenkins Subaru. Now Hyundai tells me they will not repair my vehicle even though they have been aware with this lifter knock piston slap issue for quite some time now. I need help. I am [XXX] [XXX] and rely on this vehicle to get me to doctors appointments and general errands. I really don't know what to do. I am afraid to drive the vehicle because of fire issues and possibly staling out on the interstate and me getting hit by another vehicle. Please help. My vehicle now sits at Jenkins Subaru in Clarksburg wv and I have no way to bring it back to Fairmont wv. A 20 to 25 minutes trip could be deadly to to bring it home. Hyundai could have cared less that I had to had the vehicle towed to Jenkins Subaru, there reasoning is it has 104,000 miles on it. I told Hyundai they must make throw away vehicles then. Abs and traction control lights on as well as e brake light this is all after I had recall work that was supposed to fix this problem but only made it worse I am dealing with Hyundai but I don’t see a solution for this problem my car is inoperable and very unsafe it is my main source of transportation to and from my place of work and without this vehicle I am at a great loss I have lost brakes completely at times and am mentally and physically unable to drive this car it’s that bad financially strapped from sinking money into this problem only to find there’s a recall but the recall work didn’t fix the problem and Hyundai knows it won’t fix the problem

Check engine light came on, the code says misfire on random cylinders, drives very rough. Took to mechanic and said timing chain is loose, which causes the “skipping” or misfire, and could snap at any moment (which is unsafe and could cause a wreck). Mechanic has 3 other Hyundai Elantra's with same problem. Around 2 grand fix.

While operating my 2015 Hyundai ELANTRA, the engine cuts out.. it just stalls out of nowhere without any signs or warnings its about to happen. As well as approximately 50% of the time the engine stalls the power steering also stops working. At this point I have to coast to the side of the road, put it in park, turn the key to the off position and then restart the car when this happens which is quite often. The worst its ever been was 8 times in a 25 minute/28 mile drive. This doesn’t only happen at fast or slow speeds. It’s completely random whether I’m going 15 mph in a school zone 25 to 40 mph through towns or 65 to 70 mph on highways. This is already extremely dangerous to happen. Going 15 to 40 mph but when you’re driving on a highway at 65 or 70 mph and the engine and power steering just stop and cut out, this is severely dangerous. I’ve been in contact with the Hyundai headquarters multiple times and they are not doing a single thing about it so my car has just been sitting for about 5 months now. Please help me hold Hyundai financially responsible for safety recall repairs. This manufacturer safety issue is unacceptable and my car has been very well maintained and has very low miles under 70k miles on a 2015

Due to CDK Global cyberattack, I cannot complete my safety recall of my Hyundai Elantra 2015 (ABS Fuse that can cause engine to explode, according to Hyundai safety recall report). Hyundai does not allow dealerships to keep safety recall parts on hand (or a very small amount). I have to walk into the dealership to order the part. I cannot call to order the part. I have to constantly drive to place of work, home, sit in traffic, with a defective fuse that HyundaiUSA refuses to keep safety recall parts on hand. Please create a NATIONAL policy against manufacturers to have a minimum units (1000 units of fuses, parts, etc) as the safety recall occurs. Because dealerships cannot order parts due to this cyberattack. My mental anguish of driving a vehicle that cannot have a safety recall repaired due to parts not being able to order (especially if they can keep large amounts of units on hand at dealers), is through the roof! I cannot take time off, I have to drive to not be evicted, anything repossessed, etc. and where I live has limited transportation options, (and told to use ride share like Lyft or Uber). Insurance companies is unhelpful. If manufacturers say they cannot keep parts on hand, then how do they ship the parts so quickly, under normal operations? 3rd party mechanic shops cannot order these parts as the manufacturer has to complete the recall repair.

I just had to pay $1200 for an alternator that was installed into my car defected from the beginning by Hyundai.

Within three months of purchasing this vehicle, I started having engine light and oil consumption issues. Within the 4 years of owning, they've replaced the catalytic converter twice, many valves, and others. I had to purchase and add multiple quarts of oil to just maintain oil levels. I've had multiple occasions where my vehicle slowed to only up to 55 miles an hour while on the interstate. The vehicle had issues accelerating where an accident almost occurred because pulling into a shopping plaza, the vehicle couldn't drive up a minor hill and almost remained in the intersection. I've had multiple times where I was stuck on the side of the road in different environments, a few of which I was genuinely worried for my safety. This last incident I did not feel safe to drive where I needed to go so I got off the interstate to travel down a local road where the vehicle stalled in the middle of a 5 lane (one direction) busy road. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership and warranty representatives. The engine and oil lights were the main issues, every time a light came on I reached out to the dealership to get it looked at. I received notice of many engines being recalled and repaired in 2022 yet Hyundai has only put bandaids on my engine.

May 30, 2024

I had a complete engine failure. The car had a loud knock sound and the engine shut off leaving the car inoperable.

Reporting my previous VIN in case it helps the new vehicle owner since I am sure they are facing similar defects that I am with my "brand new 2016 Hyundai Elantra". I previously owned a brand new 2015 Hyundai Elantra and had to file a claim after flooding occurred in Kyle, Texas. The 2015 Elantra title was transferred to USAA after filing a claim for TOTAL LOSS due to engine flooding on [XXX]. Odometer reading on date of total loss is 7,673 miles. Vehicle appears to be sold again with same odometer reading January 2016. Both of my Hyundai Elantra's were purchased at Ron Carter Hyundai Dealership in Texas (Dealer number P113588). This dealership is now called Big Star Hyundai after DCG Acquisitions represented the sale in 2021 - just in time to deny and delay warranty covered defects to consumers who thought they purchased a brand new car. Hope this helps the current vehicle owner in case they are also over spending on dealership recommended "repairs" for their LEMON. Was driving 2/6/24 and oil light came on. Engine smelled bad then entire car stopped working, e.g. brake pedal locked and the dashboard lit up. Ran over a median to manually stop the car. Had car towed to Hyundai dealership, who stated that an oil change from Firestone in 12/2023 was the culprit. Upon inspection the oil filter had a bulging gasket which was presumed to allow the car to slowly leak oil, leading to impending catastrophic engine failure. I appealed to Firestone and they completed an inspection and provided a report that showed the Hyundai engine itself was faulty and warped the oil filter based on detailed caliper measurements. In light of the Hyundai/Kia engine troubles, I wanted to submit a report in case my year and make and model make a recall list for engine issues.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and failed to restart. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with rod bearing failure and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but denied the engine replacement due to the vehicle having a Salvaged Title. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

This is a complaint for recall remedy. This recall has no remedy and they ask I park my car outside of my garage in the dead of winter. I live 4 hours from the nearest in-state dealer that could potentially provide a loaner vehicle. I’m not comfortable driving a car that I have been told can catch fire while parked OR driving on a 4 hour drive. I’ve called Hyundai multiple times with no reprieve.

The car was working fine. Then one day it wouldn’t turn on while we were out. The engine wouldn’t start and it smelt burnt and there was smoke. We had to jumpstart the car and it showed some codes. They were B1319 and B1111. We took it to an electrician and it showed there was was a fuse that’s being overpowered. The car had been working again, but I did get a smell of something burnt a few times from inside the car. A few weeks passed by and three days ago the car again wouldn’t turn on. Just yesterday I found out about the recall from September on the Hyundai Elantra 2015. Not sure if it has something to do with that, but I still haven’t received a recall although that’s the car model I have.

My car's engine had damaged engine seals and was leaking oil. Also, when I accelerate it seems to be very forceful and the gears don't change well, they seem to be stuck. I had to take the front axle in for repair since something seemed to break. Also in the second or third year I had to take it under warranty since I had problems with the brakes and the sensor was damaged. The button to raise and lower the window does not work.

When I come to a stop the car randomly shuts off and the engine lights come on. I have to put it in neutral and restart the car. This is happening all the time and scares me. I'm afraid that one day I will have to stop on the interstate and my car dies when traffic resumes putting me in danger.

Complete engine failure at 129k miles, 3k miles after purchasing used off Hyundai car dealerships.

Jun 12, 2023

The car engine seized on me. Went to work in the am and by the afternoon the car was non drivable. Had it tolled to a Hyundai dealership and couple of other car repair shops and they all confirmed that the engine has died. I haven't even had the car for a year. There was no indicators on the screen or any kind of warning such as an engine light. Good thing the car was in park when before it seized, otherwise I could have been driving it and could have happened on the road.

Apr 21, 2023

Engine stalled while going at-speed on major highway; high risk of crash if not restarted in time. Continuous repeating stalls. Hyundai inspected car twice; failed to fix the problem on the first attempt, refused to replace engine alleging that maintenance was negligent due to residue inside motor. Hyundai did not report any residue on the first inspection, and likely did not inspect engine thoroughly when stalling was initially reported to their mechanics. Odd noises from engine present for months prior to stalling.

Apr 9, 2023

Unwanted sudden engine speeding up,No warning or messages.

Mar 23, 2023

Transmission completely went out at 86k miles with no warning. No lights on the dash, no slow build of issues. Has always had regular maintenance since I bought the car at the dealership. Second owner, and car is paid off. Drove it one day with absolutely no issues, and the very next day, all gears were slipping and was not safely drivable. Was stopped at a stop light turning into work and when I put my foot on the accelerator, it went nowhere and I was stuck at intersection. Got it towed that day to a local repair shop since I was told my warranty for power train was expired, and have been waiting on a new transmission for 2 months now. The repair shop still doesn’t know when they’ll get it in, and will cost $4k to install. Mine is one of many they’ve said have come through with the same problem.

Feb 16, 2023

The engine failed under with under 100,000 miles on the car. It dies going under 20 miles per hour. This is a safety issue because it will die anywhere and can cause wrecks due to sudden failure. The vehicle was inspected Stivers Hyundai, and they could not determine what caused the failure. The problem was confirmed with the same dealer. There were no warning lamps or signs prior to the failure. Beneath, I am reporting the issue on the date it first occurred, though it has occurred multiple times since.

Feb 3, 2023

My vehicle is just over 80k miles and has received regular maintenance services. Inspection available upon request. My engine would rattle during idle, stopped at a light, and sounded as if the RPM were increasing. I would have to turn my car off then back on for it to stop. No engine or warning lights. As this became more frequent, I also noticed a very intense shaking coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle while driving on the highway. The shaking was most intense as the car accelerated from 2k-3k RPM. It felt like I could have lost control. On 11/29/22, my car was towed to a repair shop because the engine would stall when I started my car. After examination they recommended I take it to a Hyundai dealer, determined the engine may need replaced and informed me of other recalls from similar models. When the vehicle was brought to the Hyundai dealer, they stated they could not replicate the issue - the engine would start without stalling - but they also speculated my problem was from a loose cable, and attempted to send my car home with me the same day. It is important to note that the battery cable was examined and was connected prior to bringing it in to the dealer. My car is not under recall so my request was taken lightly, they stated I had no engine issues. I pressed for them to address the rattling of my vehicle, for which they then told me I had a leak in my front left axle. Axle was repaired and car brought home. My car drove for about 212 miles before it started stalling again with multiple attempts to start it. When I was able to successfully turn the engine over, I drove it back to the Hyundai dealer on 1/02/23. They found no codes but determined the crank sensor needed replaced. After replacement, they informed me my vehicle still “acted up” once, so they have held onto the vehicle for the past month, letting it sit and occasionally test driving it. Still no answer to this irregular issue.

Jan 24, 2023

Multiple times now, the vehicle has stalled while I am driving and turned off. Both my battery and alternator are still good, however this continues to happen. This happens at any speed, but most commonly at low speeds, while slowing down. This typically starts with the engine chugging or the car begins lurching instead of moving fluidly. As this is happening the light cluster will also flash and then go off or will illuminate the oil pressure warning light. I have had the oil level checked and can confirm this is also not an issue. The only way to get the car back on is to put the vehicle in park, and turn it over until it starts. It will normally start on the first try but at times it has taken several attempts. Additionally the car now produces a strong exhaust smell anytime I am driving it even though it has not done so before and there are no issues with my exhaust system currently. The vehicle currently has around 180,000 miles but from what I have read on this site there are many individuals experiencing this same issue with varying mileage. This is obviously a major concern as I have kept the vehicle maintained normally and this seems to have come out of nowhere and this is a significant safety hazard both for myself and others. As many have stated already in their complaints their vehicle has also experienced this exact issue while driving putting themselves and others in danger. The only fix I have seen on the site here is to replace the engine which is absurd given that this seems to be a manufacturer issue and not on the vehicle owner from what I can tell based on the number of related complaints that are the exact same issue.

Jan 10, 2023

At any given time without warning the car dies. There is a red light that is sometimes visible on the dash but flashes too quickly and tell which light it may be (due to location of light owner’s manual showing possible oil light/battery). The car has had regular scheduled maintenance. This happens when driving in everyday traffic and sometimes when going from stopped to accelerating. This happens when going in reverse or ahead. I have almost been in several different accidents due to it dying in the middle of intersections. Code reader has not been able to locate the problem because there’s no indication of a problem on the check engine light. This is a very serious problem that needs to be taken seriously before it gets someone badly injured or killed.

Unknown cause vehicle stalls and stutters randomly and skips while driving. Stalls when at a stop randomly and when car is restarted tachometer does not register that car has been restarted.

Dec 19, 2022

When driving the car shuts off. The dash lights come on oil battery check engine. Once I stop and put the car in park and restart it it will start right back up. I will die anytime and anywhere. I've been on the highway and it just stops. It does it multiple times before I get to were I need to go. I was almost hit by a semi in traffic doing 40 because it died in the lane

Oct 27, 2022

The low-pressure oil light flickers at idle and then stalls the engine. This often happens at intersections while waiting for traffic to clear and then the car shuts off. The oil pressure has been tested and is at proper pressure. Additionally, the oil sending switch has been replaced. At this time the vin shows the engine is not eligible for manufacturer recall. It is my understanding that the engine shut off is by design as to preserve the engine from seizure. However, the root of the issue needs to be addressed as it is a major safety concern if the engine stops during idle in a busy intersection.

The car engine started just cutting off while driving. There is no warning except for the engine, oil and battery light comes on. The dash lights and radio remain on with no engine. I have to brake and put the car in park to start the engine back up. It may do this several times before I get to my destination. I've had it looked at and diagnosed at 3 places and none can find what is wrong. The 3 lights only come on when engine stops. The car has about 53,000 miles.

Car stutteres than stalls especially near time of oil change , oil light flashes when going moderate to low speeds and than it stutters and the engine cuts and the engine light , oil light and battery light come on if engine not started right away the power brakes and steering also die making it a dangerous situation especially on a highway happened many times between 2020-2022 but it has been getting worse happening 4 times just today 4/21/2022 Engine type NU 1.8L Car make and model:2015 Hyundai Elantra Limited

Jan 17, 2022

Hyndai performed a service campaign to enhance their vehicle software to better detect abnormal engine noise. Since the campaign, this vehicle has had 3 instances in 8 weeks where the P1326 Knock Signal error code was detected. Per Hyundai's Service Campaign bulletin, this code indicates engine bearing failure. When the code is detected, the check engine light flashes and the engine is limited at 2000 rpm. This has occured while driving at highway speed in heavy traffic, and there is a significant safety risk due to the vehicle's sudden and unexpected deceleration which creates a high chance of being hit from behind. Hyundai has repeatedly treated this error code as sensor and electrical problem replacing electical components, clearing the code, and allowing the vehicle to be returned to service as if normal. However, per their service campaign, the failure is due to faulty engine bearings. This action of not correcting the mechanical problem has created multiple chances of potential collision and injury.

I NOTICED A SLIGHT TICKING SOUND AT AROUND 63,000 MILES IN MY 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WHILE MY CAR WAS IDLING. I HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. THEY DETERMINED A KNOCKING/PINGING IN THE AREA OF CYLINDER NUMBER ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHANGED AROUND 3,000 MILES. THE SOUNDS HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE AND HAS BECOME A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND WITH LOSS OF POWER. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 70,000 MILES ON IT NOW AND THE ENGINE IS STARTING TO FAIL MORE. THE LOUD KNOCKING SOUND IS CONSTANT FROM IDLE THROUGH ACCELERATION. I WAS CURIOUS IF OTHER PEOPLE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE SO I DID SOME RESEARCH. MANY CARS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE I'M HAVING. IM AFRAID THE ENGINE IS GOING TO SEIZE SOON WHILE DRIVING AND I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THIS PROBLEM NOW. I DON'T THINK A CAR SHOULD BE DOING THIS AT 70,000 MILES

THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER MILES OVER 10000 (IF YOUR A SECOND OWNER )OR 140000 IF YOUR ORIGINAL OWNER. I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM ENTERPRISE CAR DEALERSHIPS THEY BOUGHT IT FROM HYUNDAI. MY ISSUE IS I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT A FAULTY ENGINE UNTIL IT WAS TO LATE. AND THAT WASN'T EVEN FROM HYUNDAI OR DEALERSHIP. IT WAS FROM THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PAPER. THE REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT OF MOTOR HYUNDAI IS OFFERING EXCLUDES PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT HAD NO IDEA AND HAVE EXCEEDED MILES OF THEIR ORIGINAL 100000 MILE WARRANTY. PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT HAD AND HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH MOTOR ARE AT RISK FOR STALLING OR WHATEVER ELSE BECAUSE WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT PROBLEMS. I'M THANKFUL MY CAR DIDN'T DIE ON CROSSING HIGHWAY/ INTERSTATE WITH TRAFFIC . MY PROBLEMS WITH MOTOR THAT THEY KNEW WAS FAULTY JUST STARTED AT 127,000 MILES OR SO. PEOPLE NEED TO BE AWARE OF THESE ISSUES, HYUNDAI I FEEL ARE TRYING TO COVER UP OR REFUSE A RECALL TO SAVE THEM MONEY.

CAR STALLS WHEN STOPPING OR IDLING IF YOU DO NOT KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GAS. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THE FIRST 10 MINS OF WARMING UP THE CAR BUT THEN HAPPENS FOR THE REMAINING TIME. I HAVE HAD A TUNE UP, THROTTLE BODY SERVICED, CRANKSHAFT SENSOR REPLACED, AND FUEL PUMP REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS AND NOTHING HAS HELPED.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA IT STARTED MAKING A RATTLING NOISE FROM THE AREA AROUND THE ENGINE. THIS NOISE EVENTUALLY GREW TO A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. THE KNOCKING NOISE CONTINUED AND I BEGAN TO FEEL IT VIBRATING IN MY STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN GRAND JUNCTION, CO TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN CAME OUT AND AS SOON AS I DESCRIBED IT HE SAID HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN RECEIVING A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND INSPECTING IT HE ASSURED ME THAT THE CONNECTION RODS AND BEARINGS WERE GOING OUT AND THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY ENGINE THAT HAD 50,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS ALSO GIVEN THE OPTION TO ONLY REPLACE THE LOWER HALF OF MY ENGINE FOR HALF THE PRICE BUT THAT PRICE WOULD POSSIBLY EVEN OUT TO AN ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE THE COST OF LABOR WOULD GO UP. I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE FURTHER AND HAVE FOUND THAT RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND ISSUE BUT MY VEHICLE HAS YET TO BE PART OF THE RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE FOR MY FAMILY AND I AS I HAVE NOT USED THIS VEHICLE SINCE MAY 2020 AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY HYUNDAI THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN OR WILL DO TO HELP ME BECAUSE IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR MY VEHICLE.

I HAVE A 2015 ELANTRA THAT DEVELOPED AN ENGINE NOISE AT 135,000 MILES. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AT A SPEED OF 65, THE ENGINE BECAME EXTREMELY LOUD. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK MY VEHICLE. I PULLED OUT THE DIPSTICK AND IT HAD METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THE CAR LOST ALL ABILITY TO MOVE. THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD REV ON ITS OWN. I HAD IT TOWED TO A HYAUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 1 QUART OF OIL. THE ISSUE WITH THAT, IS MY LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP RAN THE CODES, AND IT SHOWED NOTHING ON THE SCANNER.

THE VEHICLE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AROUND 80,000 MILES. AT 101000 MILES THE ENGINE HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD TERRIBLE LOUD KNOCKING AND CRUNCHING NOISES WITH VERY LITTLE POWER. THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70MPH. THE KNOCKING ISSUE HAD BEEN BROUGHT UP SEVERAL TIMES TO ALLEN TURNER HYUNDAI IN PENSACOLA, FL AND IGNORES. THE SERVICE STAFF TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS NOT GETTING THE OIL CHANGED (I STOPPED GOING TO THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE). ONCE I PRODUCED RECEIPTS PROVING THEM WRONG THEY SAID THAT I WASN'T GETTING IT CHANGED OFTEN ENOUGH EVEN THOUGH I GOT IT CHANGED ACCORDING TO THE TIME FRAME THEY TOLD AND WHAT WAS STATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THEY EVENTUALLY AGREED TO FIX IT FOR $500 AFTER HAVING TO GET LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS WITH EVERYONE UP TO THE GENERAL MANAGER. IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST STRESSFUL SITUATIONS I'VE EVER HAD. THE VEHICLE STILL HAD $10,000 OWED ON THE LOAN. EVEN AFTER THE ISSUE WAS CORRECTED THE CAR NEVER GOT BACK TO WORKING WELL AT ALL. TO GET RID OF IT I HAD TO LEASE A VEHICLE FOR NEARLY $600 A MONTH TO RID MYSELF OF THE NEGATIVE EQUITY. BUYER BEWARE

WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY IF THE ENGINE IS STILL COLD, I WILL SUDDENLY NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE AND VEHICLE IS STILL RUNNING. THEN WHEN I SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE LIKE IT'S ALMOST GOING TO DIE ALTOGETHER. THEN IF I TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, IT'S ALMOST LIKE THERE IS NO POWER TO DRIVE,OR THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLS, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. THE ONLY WAY THEN TO BE ABLE TO KEEP DRIVING IS IF I COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN THE IGNITION COMPLETELY OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN IT WILL USUALLY TAKE 3-5 TRIES TO GET THE CAR TO START AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY 1-3 TIMES A WEEK, AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IT'S NOT RELATED TO THE ENGINE RECALL THAT THEY ISSUED, EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME EXACT ISSUES THAT IS AFFECTING THE OTHER VEHICLES. THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 20 OCCASIONS WHERE I WAS TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY AND THEN MY VEHICLE DIES OR LOSES POWER AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN OF MINE.

THE ENGINE ON MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND GET IT STARTED AGAIN. I TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK HOME AND IT STARTED KNOCKING AND STALLED AGAIN. AFTER THAT, IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHO SAID THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN BUT IT WAS KNOCKING LOUDLY. I ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WHICH COST CLOSE TO $6000 FOR A USED ENGINE. I HAD CLOSE TO 127,000 MILES ON THE CAR (I DRIVE 100 MILES PER DAY FOR WORK) AND HYUNDAI WOULD NOT HELP SINCE I AM OUT OF THE WARRANTY MILEAGE.

I WAS IN MOTION ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE AN AWFUL TICKING AND GRINDING NOISE AND THEN STALL. I LOSE STEERING AND BRAKES AND HAVE BEEN IN TOO MANY CLOSE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS. I HAVE KIDS AND THIS IS NOT SAFE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THERE ARE NO DASH INDICATORS ON NOR ANY CODES COMING UP WHEN SCANNED. I READ ABOUT THIS FROM OTHER PEOPLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. THE SCARIEST TIME WAS WHEN I WAS GOING DOWN A STEEP HILL, CARS IN FRONT AND BACK OF ME. MY CAR STALLED AND WITH NO POWER STEERING AND NO BRAKES I BARELY MANAGED TO SWERVE AROUND THE CAR IN FRONT, DODGE THE ONCOMING CAR IN OTHER LANE, I THEN HAD TO GO INTO AN INTERSECTION PRAYING TO GOD THAT NO OTHER CARS WERE COMING THRU AT THE SAME TIME AND THEN MANAGED TO PULL OVER. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THEM ON APRIL 17, 2019 AND TODAY IS MAY 14, 2019 AND I'M ALMOST POSITIVE THAT IT DOESN'T TAKE A WHOLE MONTH FOR A BAG TO BURN OFF AN EXHAUST PIPE. ALSO I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY BRAKE SYSTEM, WHEN I BRAKE THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT'S STALLING AND IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE AS IF THE CAR IS ON ICE AND THE EXTRA BRAKE IS HELPING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. MY ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A CLICKING NOISE IN JANUARY 2019. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. I TOOK IT TO MY CAR DEALERSHIP, WHO SAID THEY COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT, BUT THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY SO THEY ARE REPLACING IT. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND NOTICED MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS BUT I DO KNOW THAT AN ENGINE TOTALLY DYING AT 58,000 IS NOT GOOD. THEY DID MENTION THAT THEY WOULD CHECK THE OIL FOR METAL SHAVINGS. I LOOKED THAT UP ONLINE, WHICH HAPPENS WHEN AN ENGINE IS POORLY MADE AND THE MOTORS ARE SCRAPING AGAINST EACH OTHER, PRODUCING METAL SHAVINGS, WHICH THEN GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE ENGINE THROUGH THE OIL. EVERY TIME THE ENGINE DIED I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET, GOING ABOUT 30 MPH.

THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.ON 01/18/2018 WITH 20747 MILES ON THE CAR. WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SOUND WHEN THE CAR STARTS. WHEN THE CAR STARTS IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL CLINKING. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE CAR IS COLD IN THE MORNING OR ANYTIME OF THE DAY. WHEN I START THE CAR, IT MAKES THIS SOUND. I HAD TO TAPE THE SOUND SO THE SERVICE ADVISOR COULD HEAR THE SOUND. THE TECH COULD NOT HEAR IT. 02/08/2018 WITH 20749 MILES ON THE CAR. WE STILL HAD THE PROBLEM WITH A SOUND WHEN THE CAR STARTED. WHEN THE CAR STARTS IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL CLINKING.THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT. THE NEXT DAY THE TECH DID HEAR THE SOUND. THEY TESTED THE ALTERNATOR AND IT WAS BAD. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR ON THE CAR. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR I STILL HAD THE SAME SOUND AS BEFORE. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ALTERNATOR DID NOT STOP THE SOUND. 03/20/2018 WITH 20802 MILES ON THE CAR. WE ARE STILL HAVING THE SAME SOUND WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT TIME OF THE DAY THE CAR IS STARTED, THE SAME SOUND HAPPENS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A METAL CLINKING. I HAD A TAPE OF THE SOUND, THE TECH DID NOT HEAR A THING. WE ARE STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SOUND WHEN THE CAR STARTS. I AM SCARED TO START THE CAR BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GET UP TO SPEED WHEN MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, OR EVEN WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN ROLLING, AND WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL THERE IS A 2-3 SECOND HESITATION FROM THE ACCELERATOR.
