Abs and traction control lights on as well as e brake light this is all after I had recall work that was supposed to fix this problem but only made it worse I am dealing with Hyundai but I don’t see a solution for this problem my car is inoperable and very unsafe it is my main source of transportation to and from my place of work and without this vehicle I am at a great loss I have lost brakes completely at times and am mentally and physically unable to drive this car it’s that bad financially strapped from sinking money into this problem only to find there’s a recall but the recall work didn’t fix the problem and Hyundai knows it won’t fix the problem
I received a notice in the mail of the recall from Hyuandai. I set an appt with Dick Smith Hyandai in Greenville, SC and when I arrived they said they could not do any recall work at the moment due to issues with their computer system and that I should call them again in a few weeks.
I was driving down the interstate using cruise control. When I applied the brakes, they didn’t work. The RPM’s went up to 4 or 5. I tried several times and the brakes didn’t work until I hit the cancel button on the cruise control. They said it was the brake switch when I had it repaired.
I am submitting this complaint because in the fall of last year 2023, I received a recall notice in the mail from Hyundai advising me of a safety recall with the ABS Module and risk of fire. As of today, the manufacturer has not made any efforts to remedy this issue and I am advised to park my vehicle away from structures to avoid fire. In order to keep myself and family safe I park my vehicle on the street in front of my home, but will not be able to continue doing this for much longer. Because of HOA regulations I will be fined if I continue to park my car on the street and will be forced to park in my driveway or garage. This has caused major inconveniences in my life as well as the worry that my car could become a risk to myself or others due to this safety recall. I do not believe that Hyundai has taken the appropriate measures to resolve the issue. I would like further investigation to insure the manufacturer does the right thing to protect not only myself, but other consumers who are affected by the recall. I contacted Hyundai on [XXX], received an apology; however I was not given an estimate of when they will have a resolution available. This is an unacceptable response after 6-7 months without communication from Hyundai. Reference number of call # [XXX]. There has been no rememdy listed with hyundai for this Recall for the 2015 hyundai elantra in almost a year and since it is a fire hazzard, I would like a remedy immediate because hyundai is not taking this recall seriously.
The brakes failed due to rotted brake lines the fluid leaked out and the brake warning light came on. I inspected the car and the lines that run from the front to the back are rusted at the point that the lines are supported. Canada has a recall for this issue because it is such a widespread issue. Hyundai needs to be made accountable for making brake lines out of inferior metal.
This is a complaint for recall remedy. This recall has no remedy and they ask I park my car outside of my garage in the dead of winter. I live 4 hours from the nearest in-state dealer that could potentially provide a loaner vehicle. I’m not comfortable driving a car that I have been told can catch fire while parked OR driving on a 4 hour drive. I’ve called Hyundai multiple times with no reprieve.
My car's engine had damaged engine seals and was leaking oil. Also, when I accelerate it seems to be very forceful and the gears don't change well, they seem to be stuck. I had to take the front axle in for repair since something seemed to break. Also in the second or third year I had to take it under warranty since I had problems with the brakes and the sensor was damaged. The button to raise and lower the window does not work.
Brakes make loud noise sometimes when backing out of driveway and am aware of fire hazard recall due to leaking o rings
Light smoke, from ABS module leak recognized as recall, yet manufacturer is not initiating any fix
When you go to stop at a stop.sihn or in general it fails to do so. It locks up an I slide an almost hit people multiple times. Today I was backing out of a parking lot an when I went to turn my steering wheel straight it locked up an failed to let me counter steer it. Causing me to go over a curb an almost blow my tire out. Leaving my tire with a big bubble on the side of my tire. Eventually going to lead to a blow out.
The rear brake lines are corroded where the lines come into contact with the plastic hangers that keep the lines in place under the car. Due to this issue I lost brake pressure while driving the car. This happened in a parking lot, but my safety and the safety of many others would have been at risk had this happened on the highway while driving at speed and if I needed to brake suddenly to slow down. I have not had the brake lines inspected at the dealer, but I have them in case they are needed. Hyundai recently sent a service campaign letter to me regarding underbody corrosion prevention service for cars in the states that use salt on the road. I feel Hyundai is being negligent in not extending this service to include replacing parts of the underbody, such as the brake lines, that are required for the normal and safe operation of the vehicle. Due to their lack of underbody corrosion prevention that should have been in place when the car was manufactured my safety was put at great risk and I now have to replace the brake lines at my own cost. I feel Hyundai know that their brake lines will rust and corrode due to salt usage, and their underbody campaign is not addressing these problems which could result in owners having a serious accident.
I rear ended another vehicle going 60, I slowed down as much as possible however the seat belt did not lock, the airbags did not go off & the vehicle skid. The vehicle was taken to a lot by my insurance for evaluation.
The brake pedal stopper pad had deteriorated and crumbled onto the floor mat. The brake lights stayed on continous without pushing the brake pedal. The cruise control stopped working and the shift lever could be moved without depressing the brake pedal. The brake light switch stayed extended even when I wasn't applying the brakes. I tried to contact Hyundia case number19874192 and told them because they had recalled prior year cars elantra and sonata for same brake pedal stopper pad deteriorating. I am not making any progress through the corporate or dealer rep. Told the recall which started in November 2017 was for vehicles 2013 -2014 even though I have the same deteriorating part. No warning lamps or lights, defective part was diagnosed through local auto parts store.
My brake stop pad broke, causing my brake lights to remain on constantly unless the fuse was pulled. This caused battery drain and safety issues on the road. This issues appears consistent with the recalls for the 2013 and 2014 Hyundai models with stop pad recalls.
The deterioration of the brake pedal stopper pad while driving leaving the lights illuminated and was almost rear ended.
I HAVE REPEATEDLY EXPERIENCED STICKING CALIPERS (EVIDENCED BY PARKING BREAK NOT DISENGAGING AT 20,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 38,000) AND EXTREME WEARING OF THE ROTORS. FRONT ROTORS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT 20,000 MILES, 39,000 MILES. REAR ROTORS REQUIRED RESURFACING AT 20,000 MILES, 39,000 MILES. REAR AND FRONT ROTORS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT 65,000 MILES. EXPERIENCE SHUDDERING WHILE BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO ROTORD.
SMALL CONNECTER, BETWEEN THE BRAKES AND THE BREAK LIGHT SWITCH INDICATOR, MADE OF PLASTIC WORE AWAY. RESULTED IN THE BREAKS GOING ALL THE WAY AND CAUSING THE BREAK LIGHTS TO STAY ON, EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF.

I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND A DRIVER BEHIND ME INFORMED ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT ILLUMINATE. I CHECKED AT HOME AND THEY DID NOT LIGHT UP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE STOP LAMP SWITCH IN THE VEHICLE IS MALFUNCTIONING.

I BOUGHT MY 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA FROM THE CARMAX IN OAK LAWN ILLINOIS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 AND SINCE THEN I'VE EXPERIENCED A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AND CARMAX IS ONLY TELLING ME THAT IT WAS A PLASTIC BAG ON THE EXHAUST PIPE AND THAT IT WILL BURN OFF ON ITS OWN. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THEM ON APRIL 17, 2019 AND TODAY IS MAY 14, 2019 AND I'M ALMOST POSITIVE THAT IT DOESN'T TAKE A WHOLE MONTH FOR A BAG TO BURN OFF AN EXHAUST PIPE. ALSO I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT MY BRAKE SYSTEM, WHEN I BRAKE THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT'S STALLING AND IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE AS IF THE CAR IS ON ICE AND THE EXTRA BRAKE IS HELPING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I KNOW THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN THIS WAY. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE EVERYDAY AND I CAN'T DRIVE A FAULTY VEHICLE AND SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THEM WHILE DRIVING IT.

VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP WITH FOOT STILL DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDDLE. BRAKES RELEASED AND CAR SURGED FORWARD HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED BEFORE LUNGING FORWARD ON SOUTHBOUD EXIT 185 OF I95 IN BANGOR MAINE04401

I WAS RETURNING HOME THIS AFTERNOON AND MY WIFE'S HYUNDAI ELANTRA WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS LIT. I FIGURED MY WIFE HAD LEFT HER LIGHTS ON AND LOOKED IN THE CAR TO SEE THEY WERE OFF. I STARTED THE CAR AND PRESSED THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES BUT THE LIGHTS REMAINED ON SO I THOUGHT THE SWITCH HAD GONE BAD. MY WIFE WATCHED AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH MANUALLY AND THE SWITCH WORKED BUT THE PEDAL DID NOT COME FAR ENOUGH BACK TO DEPRESS THE SWITCH AND I SAW ONLINE THAT A PAD WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PRESENT BUT WAS MISSING. I FOUND RECALLS FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS MENTIONING AN ISSUE WITH PAD DETERIORATION AND FIGURE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BE HAPPENING TO THIS MODEL AS WELL.

"TAKATA RECALL". NOTICE WHEN PRESSING THE BREAKS AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR MAN HOLE COVER THE BRAKES SEEM TO RELEASE AND SKIP FORWARD LOSING CONTROL TO SOME DEGREE. I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE FIX AFTER INSTALLING BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS BUT IT STILL CONTINUES. I'M CONCERNED WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN DURING THE WINTER IN ICEY ROAD OR SNOW COVERED ROAD CONDITIONS.
Mileage: 15,000
I WAS ON THE BELTWAY AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS BRAKING AND I PRESSED MY BRAKES TO THE FLOOR AND UPON IMPACT IT WAS STILL ROLLING. WE PULLED OVER AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR. I HAD TO PULL UP THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO FINALLY STOP THE VEHICLE.
Mileage: 58,000
THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICING. THE HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT IT WAS RELATED TO THE BRAKES. WHEN I WAS READY TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND SAID THE BRAKE RELAY (WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED) CAUSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO SHORT AND NOW I HAVE TO GET THEM REPLACED AS WELL.

SEIZED REAR BRAKE CALIPER. STARTED VEHICLE, BRAKES REMAINED ENGAGED AFTER RELEASING PARKING BRAKE. CALIPER SUDDENLY RELEASED AFTER APPLICATION OF ACCELERATOR.

I PURCHASED A 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA ON NOVEMBER 26TH, 2014. THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW WHEN I PURCHASED IT. ON DECEMBER 23RD I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER HAVING PARKED AND REMOVED THE KEY. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE LIGHT TO TURN OFF, BUT I HAD A TRIP SCHEDULED TO VISIT FAMILY DURING THE HOLIDAYS. I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE CAR AT MY HOUSE IN ITS PRESENT STATE. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION ON DECEMBER 24TH I CALLED HYUNDAI (LITHIA SPRINGS) TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE ISSUES AND TO ASK THEM HOW THEY WANTED TO HANDLE THIS ISSUE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN ON JANUARY 3RD. WHEN I RETURNED TO GEORGIA I BROUGHT THE CAR TO HYUNDAI. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE I COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR REMINISCENT OF SPOILED MILK. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY EXAMINED THE CAR AND INITIALLY TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS WITH THE BRAKE CLUTCH NOT DEPRESSING PROPERLY. AFTER THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THIS PART HE RETURNED TO TELL METHAT HE WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND THAT HE SUSPECTED IT TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. HE REQUESTED THAT I LEAVE THE CAR WITH HIM SO THAT IT COULD BE WORKED ON AND PLACED ME IN A LOANER VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY (JANUARY 6TH, 2015) AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN ISOLATED AND THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SEALED PROPERLY AND WATER HAD CAUSED THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES I WAS HAVING. [XXX]. TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REMOVED, CARPET REMOVED, DRIED, AND RESEALED. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN WITH THIS AND LET HIM KNOW THAT I WANTED THE CAR REPLACED IMMEDIATELY, TO WHICH HE DID NOT REPLY. HE TOLD ME THAT HYUNDAI MANUFACTURING WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT REPLACE MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND THAT ALL HE COULD DO WAS TRY TO FIX THE ISSUES. I AM TRULY UNHAPPY AND WANT MY MONEY BACK OR A BRAND NEW CAR. I HAVEN'T EVEN DRIVEN THIS CAR 1,000 MILES AND NOT ONLY AM I WITHOUT A CAR.
