Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2009 Hyundai Genesis. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 121,000. It was later discovered through auto check that the mileage was 199,985.

I was on the freeway and my car suddenly shut off completely.. engine, dashboard, lights EVERYTHING.. it was off for maybe 2 seconds and then the car Powered itself back up the car did not stop abruptly, so I was thankful for that. I didn’t panic or pull the wheel. I just continue straight and then thankfully it cut back on and then I got off the freeway as I was driving down the street not going more than 1015 miles my car cut off on me again it did the same exact thing everything just went off and then it cut back on mid drive and I have a four year-old toddler and I have been scared out of my life. Something is clearly wrong I need help please , no one can tell me what the problem is
Car randomly turns off while driving. Sometimes my car will go off. Most of the time it turns back on but that is dangerous.
The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the vehicle stalled and lost electrical power temporarily. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where unknown repairs were completed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed that the wiring harness had failed. The contact followed up with the dealer and was advised that an unknown module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,120.

UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL REMAINS IN UPPER POSITION AND INTERIOR POSITION, SIMILAR TO BUS STEERING WHEEL. IT CANNOT BE MOVED WITH THE ELECTRICAL POSITIONING BUTTON ON THE STEERING COLUMN AND THEREFORE IS NOT SAFELY DRIVABLE IN THIS POSITION. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE

THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND I AM WORRIED HOPE DON'T LOCKUP TRANSMISSION DURING THE HIGH SPEED. I HAVE RECORDED A VIDEO OF THIS SCENARIO IF ASKED. POWER STEERING HAS FAILED WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE PAST 18 MONTHS. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES. THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND THE RACK AND PINION HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. A FAULT CODE GENERATED FROM THE POWER STEERING FAILURE BUT HYUNDAI MECHANICS AND HYUNDAI CORPORATE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE CODE. UNBELIEVABLE!

THIS CAR HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I SAW A LOW BATTERY INDICATOR LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING. I REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW BATTERY FROM AUTO PARTS STORE. THAT NEW BATTERY DIED ON ONE WEEK. HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC. DIAGNOSED WITH A WEAK ALTERNATOR. NOT A DEAD ALTERNATOR BUT A WEAK ALTERNATOR. I WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON WITH THE GENESIS CARS. THE WEAK ALTERNATOR CAUSED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS FOR THE REST OF THE CAR CAUSING WEIRD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCASIONALLY.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREET WHEN ANOTHER MOTORIST SIGNALED THAT FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BUMPER. FORTUNATELY, MY WIFE WAS NEARING HOME AND PULLED OVER IN FRONT OUR HOUSE WHERE I SPRAYED AND SOAKED AREA OF FIRE UNTIL IT RECEDED. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO VIEW DAMAGE, THE DRIVERS SIDE FOG LIGHT BULB AND HOUSING HAD DROPPED THRU THE LARGE HOLE WHICH HAD BURNED THRU THE PLASTIC BUMPER. THE BULB AND HOUSING EVIDENTLY DISLODGED FROM THE FOG LIGHT SOCKET AND DROPPED INTO THE SURROUNDING PLASTIC BUMPER BELOW AND TRIGGERED THE FIRE . OUR COMPLAINT IS THAT THE CAR HAS AT LEAST TEN DEALER SERVICE REPAIRS WHICH SHOWS REPLACEMENT OF SEVERAL LIGHTS AND BULBS INCLUDING THE FOG LIGHT INVOLVED IN THE FIRE. FURTHER, THE REPLACEMENT OF BULBS THRU OUT THE VEHICLE HAS SOLELY BEEN DONE AT THE DEALER FOR THE SIMPLE REASON THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FOG LIGHTS NEEDS TO BE DONE BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC. AN INSINUATION BY THE DEALER THAT WE ARE SOMEHOW RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FIRE AND THE COST OF REPLACING THE FOG LIGHT AND BUMPER IS ABSURD AND FALSE. I AM LEARNING HOW TO SCAN AND UPLOAD AND WILL FORWARD THE DEALER REPAIR INVOICES SOON.

I VISITED HYUNDAI DEALER NEAR MY HOME SAGE HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 200 N VERMONT AVE, LOS ANGELES, CA 90004 FOR STOP LAMP OF MY 2009 GENESIS SEDAN 3.8 STOPPED WORKING ABOUT A WEEK AGO AFTER ONE OF VEHICLE BEHIND ALMOSTED REAR ENDED MY CAR AND THEY INFORMED ME ABOUT STOP LAMP DID NOT ILLUMINATED. I DISCOVERED IT WAS HYUNDAI RECALL CAMPAIGN NHTSA #: 14V713000, HYUNDAI RECALL # 125. THEY SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALER DID NOT DO ANY REPAIR AND JUST LET ME GO. AND SERVICE REP. STATED THAT THE RECALL IS LIMITED TO ONLY ON STOPLAMP SWITCH NOT ON ANY OTHER RELATED CIRCUIT. THEY NEVER HAD ANY DIAGONOSTICS PERFORMED. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITHOUT STOP LAMP LIGHT WORKING. THERE ARE ALWAYS STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHERE MY HOME IS. I WAS VERY SCARED WHEN I DROVE HOME.

WAS DRIVING CAR TO MEET MY HUSBAND AND WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER, HE WAS FRANTICALLY WAVING ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS ON FIRE, IN THE FRONT UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUMPER. I GOT OUT AND SAW FLAMES SHOOTING FROM UNDER THE BUMPER. WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ON THE WAY, WE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO PUT THE FIRE OUT W/WATER TO NO AVAIL. A NEARBY STORE OWNER CAME OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. ONCE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, HE INDICATED THAT IT APPEARED TO BE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. ONCE THEY MOVED THE CAR, MY HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO START IT AND IT STARTED BILLOWING OUT SMOKE. AT THAT POINT, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ORDERED HIM TO TURN IT OFF AND HAVE THE CAR TOWED AND TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN

VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE THE STOP LAMPS BLINKING ON AND OFF EVEN WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED."
AT APPROXIMATELY 7:50AM ON MY WAY TO WORK, HEADING WESTBOUND ON RODEO RD AND WAS GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT CLOVERDALE MY CAR STALLED. DURING THE STALL THE ENGINE CUTOFF AND THE ELECTRICAL POWER IN THE CAR SEEMED TO RESET ITSELF. AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP, I COULD FEEL THE BRAKES NOT WORKING AND I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BY PUSHING ON THE START/STOP BUTTON. WHEN THAT DIDN'T WORK, ALL THE POWER IN THE CAR WENT OUT AND NOTHING WORKED, NO EMERGENCY LIGHTS, NO POWER ANYTHING. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD THEM TOW TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST WAS ON SUNDAY NIGHT SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2015 AT AROUND 8PM IN SAN JOSE. I PUT THAT AS A COMPLAINT ON THIS SYSTEM AT THAT TIME.

HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM EARLIER TODAY WHILE TAKING THE CAR OUT TO GET DINNER. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE FREEWAY EXIT MY CAR SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMED TO STIFFEN AND THE NAVI SCREEN WENT OUT THEN BACK ON. I PULLED OVER EMERGENCY LANE AND WAITED TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AND MUSIC CONTINUED UP AGAIN FROM THE USB PORT BUT I COULDN'T CHANGE THE SONG. ON THE NAVI SCREEN WHERE USB SETTING IS SAYING " INITIALIZATION FAILED". SO I PULLED THE USB STICK TO RESET IT AND GOT IT TO WORK. I WAS ABLE TO GO TO DINNER THEN DRIVE BACK HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. BUT LATER ON THAT NIGHT I TRIED TO START MY CAR BUT AS SOON AS I HIT THE START BUTTON EVERYTHING DIED. NO POWER TO ANYTHING NO ALARM NO USE OF KEYLESS ENTRY NO POWER AT ALL. THEN I COME BACK TO THE CAR A FEW HOURS LATER THAT NIGHT AND OPEN THE TRUNK MANUALLY WITH THE KEY TO GET SOMETHING AND AS SOON AS I SLAM THE TRUNK DOWN ALL THE POWER CAME BACK HIDS, BRAKE LIGHTS, LEXICON SYSTEM MUSIC PLAYING. EXCEPT WHEN I TRY TO TURN ON THE ENGINE WITH THE START BUTTON IT WON'T START. THEN EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF LIKE BEFORE I'M AT A LOSS. BUT EERIELY I BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THE PREVIOUS POSTER WITH TOPPING OF GAS ISSUES BECAUSE THE CAR DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP PUMPING GAS SOMETIMES WHEN FULL AND A FEW TIMES THE CAR SPEWED OUT SOME FUEL. I HAVE FILED TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ( 10548785 & 10558354 ) AND HAD HYUNDAI ADDRESS IT WITHOUT ANY SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION. THE LATEST RESPONSE BY HYUNDAI WAS TO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS DONE ON 1/23/2014 . AT THAT TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT HYUNDAI WOULD CONTACT ME ON THE FOUND RESULTS OF THIS "INSPECTION". WELL HERE IT IS 2 MOS LATER AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE FROM THE PERSON DOING THE INSPECTION OR FROM HYUNDAI. I RECENTLY CONTACT HYUNDAI CONCERNING THIS LACK OF RESPONSE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM AND THAT THE VEHICLE ISSUE IS "NORMAL " FOR THE VEHICLE. I REQUESTED A LETTER FROM HYUNDAI STATING SPECIFICALLY THAT" THIS SOFT PEDAL CONDITION IS A NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION FOR THE GENESIS AND THAT IT IS SAFE". I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM HYUNDAI TO DATE. MY CONCERN IS THAT HYUNDAI IS STONEWALLING THIS ISSUE JUST LIKE GM HAS DONE WITH THE ISSUE OF THE FAULTY IGNITION THAT WAS KNOWN TO BE A PROBLEM YEARS AGO AND IS NOW COMING TO LIGHT. WHERE HAS THE NHTSA BEEN FOR ALL THESE YEARS? WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THE INVESTIGATION BY NHTSA CONCERNING THE SOFT PEDAL PROBLEM WITH THE GENESIS? THE BLUETOOTH WOULD CONTINUOUSLY DISCONNECT THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WOULD FREEZE.

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE THROTTLE JUST CUTS OFF, NO THROTTLE POWER. CAR IS STILL RUNNING. QUICKLY HAD TO PULL OVER ON TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD TO SHUT CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT. IT WORKED BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. IT HAPPENED SEVEN TIMES IN ONE DAY, WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR. AT ONE POINT THERE WASN'T A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER TO I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. HYUNDAI HAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I FIND THAT STRANGE SINCE THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE. THE ESC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON.

(REPLACED) STEERING WHEEL STUCK UP IN THE HIGH POSITION DRIVER SEAT CUSHION BUCKLED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, (REPLACED IN FEB 2011) FUEL GAUGE/WARNING LIGHT FAILED WHICH CAUSED ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS. (NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE MILES TO GO STATES I HAD 56 MILES) PART IS ON ORDER FOR RADIO OR RADIO REPLACED NOT SURE AS OF 9/27/11. HOPING ALL THIS WILL ALSO FIX THE BLUE TOOTH AS THE DEALER STATES THIS IS NO PROBLEM. DASH LIGHT GO OUT. SO AFTER ONLY 7 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS CAR, THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 TIMES (WITH PROBLEMS), THE MOST RECENT, 9/26/11 I TOOK CAR IN AND TOLD THEM TO KEEP IT UNTIL ALL FIXED (THEY HAVE HAD THE CARS FOR 3 DAYS SO FAR). THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS ELECTRICAL AND UNLESS THEY SEE IT THEY CAN'T FIX IT. WITH EACH OF FAILURE THIS CAR HAS I WOULD DOCUMENT WITH A PICTURE TO PROVED I WASN'T CRAZY!! SO WHATS THE DEAL WITH THE BLUE TOOTH, ITS NOT MY PHONE AS IT IS PAIRED AND CONNECTED. I CAN DIAL THRU THE CAR, SHOWS WHO I DIALING, MY PHONE SAY BLUE TOOTH ON, BUT WILL NOT WORK, DISPLAY PAD, WILL SHOW REPEATED THAT THE CALL HAS ENDED, AND FLASH BACK AND FORTH TO DIAL PAD AND MESSAGE CALL HAS ENDED,WHILE I HAD TO SWITCH FROM BLUE TOOTH TO SPEAKER AND TALK DIRECTLY TO HAND HELD PHONE. TRAVELING TO INDIANA FROM NORTH CAROLINA ON THE 6TH OF MAY 2011. ON A RURAL ROAD TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE LIGHT AND ESC WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER THAT WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THERE WAS NO POWER. ELECTRICITY WAS STILL THERE AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON, BUT NO POWER FROM THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO TURN THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AND MOVED ONTO THE SIDE. I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE THERE WEREN'T MANY CARS AROUND. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRETTY DANGEROUS IF THERE WERE CARS AROUND AND MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON BUT I HAD REGAIN THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED INTO A HOTEL AND CALLED HYUNDAI. THE CLOSEST DEALER WAS GADDIS HYUNDAI OF MUNCIE, INDIANA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSING BUT I DISCUSSED WITH TECHNICIAN. HE INDICATED THAT IT WAS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE SENSOR. HE INDICATED THAT HE WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX IT MONDAY, BUT THAT IF THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND IT WAS RUNNING OK, IT MAY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOLD HIM THAT I NEED TO BE DURHAM , NC ON MONDAY. HE INDICATED THAT IF IT HAPPEN AGAIN. TO TURN OFF AND RESTART AND IT SHOULD RESET. ON MY WAY BACK FROM INDIANA TO NORTH CAROLINA I STAYED IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. EACH TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RESTART AND CONTINUE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE STEVENSON HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE, NC. ON THE THIRD TIME, THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. A HYUNDAI ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE DEALER TO ORDER AND INSTALL A MORE POWERFUL BATTERY. THE FAILURE HAD NOT RECURRED SINCE THE SECOND BATTERY WAS INSTALLED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 13,500.
