This Problem Across All Years
I have a popping noise coming from the rear driver side suspension and it rides rough. I have been told by Hyundai that my rear shocks are leaking and from a different shop that my rear shock mount and absorber are causing the noise.

The 2021 Palisades started riding very rough and bouncy. I made an appointment and took it to Edmond Hyundai for the repairs. They initially said that the rear insulator-strut needed to be replaced and they would order them. It took 10 days to get the parts from Dallas and made another appointment to get it fixed. The dealership took 6 hours to replace only the insulator and kept it over night to do the 4 wheel alignment which they would not cover as warranty per the Service Manager but it was need. I picked it up the next day only to discover that only the insulator was replaced and was told that the service tech test drove the vehicle and it's fixed. I drove out and tested the suspension, it took only 1 mile and back it went to get fixed.

**Vehicle:** 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, ~75,000 miles. Purchased February 2025. **Problem 1 - Forward Camera Failure:** The forward-facing camera system controlling lane keeping assist, emergency braking, and lane departure warning has completely failed. Dashboard warnings appeared in recent weeks including "Check Forward Safety system" and "Forward Safety system disabled" before total failure. This eliminates critical safety features designed to prevent accidents, significantly increasing collision risk. Camera unit behind rearview mirror available for inspection. **Problem 2 - Rear Shock Failure:** Rear shock absorbers have failed, causing excessive clunking and compromised vehicle stability. Rear suspension has been clunking since purchase in February. This creates dangerous driving conditions with reduced stability, increased stopping distances, and poor emergency handling. This is a known issue covered under Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin 22-22-001H. **Safety Risk:** Both failures create serious safety hazards - eliminating collision avoidance systems and compromised vehicle control/stability. **Professional Confirmation:** Local Hyundai dealer has confirmed both the camera system failure and rear shock absorber failure through diagnostic testing and inspection. **Components Available:** Both the failed camera system and rear shock absorbers remain available for inspection upon request. **Request:** Investigation and remedial action for these safety-critical defects, particularly given the rear shock issue is a documented manufacturing problem per TSB 22-22-001H.

Rear suspension shocks were blown and started leaking causing the vehicle to become very bumpy and unstable. The blown shocks were confirmed by a brake shop and ultimately replaced at the manufacturer dealership.

2021 Palisade was in for a repair on 5-13-2025. Mileage at that time was 62,144. I requested that a noise that I was hearing in the back of the car be investigated. The noise sounds like a pop that happens when turning or going over bumps. I was told by the dealer that the rear shock insulator caps needed to be replaced to the tune of $2000. I was not told there is a TSB for this issue. Unfortunately, this issue occurred when I was on vacation or I would have been able to have the car looked at before it hit 60,000 miles. The warranty might have covered this issue at that time. I researched this issue and learned of the TSB on this vehicle for this issue. I have read this website and learned that many have reported this.

Have had rear shocks replace twice by the dealer with less than once at 35,000 miles again at 60,000 mile on the SUV. now with around 70,000 miles on the SUV the shocks need replaced again. It is unacceptable for a manufacture to know how bad the shocks are on a vehicle and not come up with a better design. This is a border line safety concern suspension plays a vital role in a vehicles road manners and ability to maneuver car in hazardous situations. Replacing shocks on a vehicle every 25,000 miles to have a safe vehicle for my family is unacceptable.

1. When accelerating, the entire car shudders intermittently but especially after letting off of the accelerator and then reapplying pressure to the accelerator. 2. The entire rear suspension makes popping and clicking noises constantly and seems to "bottom out" when going over the slightest bump or road imperfection. It causes the vehicle to bounce excessively potentially causing it to "fish tail". Discussed with dealer during early scheduled maintenance with little to no concern by them.

Self leveling struts continually are trash. They do not last more than 2 to 3 thousand miles of highway driving before they are no longer safe. The adaptive cruise control randomly reads as "radar blocked". And will work only intermittently.

There's bad clunking noise which is common in palisades with rear self leveling shock absorbers. There was a TSB out there which didn't fix the issue. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Shock failure within 33,000 miles. Going over bumps at higher speeds causes some loss of control of the vehicle. Dealer confirmed the issue with the shock upper insulator. No one else has inspected this at this time. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. When driving at any speed bumps on the road cause very bumpy ride. Dealer states Hyundai's TSB 22-SS-001H has been rescinded. Shocks failed within 33,000 miles. No remedy for knocking and rattling noise in rear of vehicle caused by shock mounts. This seems to be the cause of the shocks failing prematurely.

The rear suspension is not working. The SUV bounces around like a roller coaster. This occurred somewhere around 30,000 mile mark. Before that, the ride was smooth.

I was unable to use my seatbelt because the end that accepts the strap, would not allow the seatbelt to click in to the device. I had to drive without a seatbelt several miles. I tried probably 20 times to get it to click in before giving up. My husband was able to somehow reset the mechanism, and it appears to be working fine at the moment. but I fear I could get either locked in or out of the seatbelt in the future. There was no warning the seatbelt was having an issue prior to this event. Also, it appears my model, the 2021 Hyundai Calligraphy is not included in the service bulletin campaign with the issue of a knock in the rear end (my noise is coming from the right rear area of the vehicle. Most likely the rear shock absorber, upper insulator. I'm not sure of the safety issue this will cause. Hyundai wants to charge me $160.00 to tell me if that is what it is. Knowing the other models in this year have this issue My vehicle has approx. 68,000.00 miles. They have told me my warranty expired at 60,000 miles.

The car is under a year old, and started having a popping noise from rear driver side. The problem was determined to be the shock failing. This was confirmed at the dealer as a known issue that Hyundai is working on. We asked for it to be documented and put on file for our car. The service technician decided to replace the part and a new shock was installed.

The failed/malfunctioning component(s) are the rear shocks/struts. Safety put at risk due to uncontrollable bumpiness and instability while driving on less than perfectly smooth local roads and highways. The problem has been confirmed by local Hyundai dealership service center. There are no associated electronic notifications or warning lights alerting driver of failure or malfunctioning of this vehicle component. Recently purchased the vehicle in July 2024 as a certified pre owned and noticed knocking sound emitting from rear (mostly left) side of vehicle about a month or two after purchase.

Paint started chipping… Dealer stated it was from a rock, however a rock chip doesn’t cause a whole section of paint bigger than a quarter to just flake off.. ironically there was another vehicle on the lot having the same issues . Picture is included.. Second issue is the engine It makes a grinding noise when driving almost like the cams or transmission is going to go bad, but i think it’s the timing chain. Lasty the suspension it has clicking noises that cannot be resolved.

Knocking sound from rear driver side area. May be linked to suspension. Cars has only 55k miles.

Vehicle started to have bumpy ride and loud popping noise from the rear. I have an appointment at the dealership next week, but we know the shocks are leaking/malfunctioning. This seems to be a very common problem with Hyundai Palisades. The concern is replacing with the same OEM parts to have the same issue again.

I have a 2021 Hyundai Palisade with 65,000 miles on it and rear struts have already become an issue. I just (this week) replaced all four tires and did 65,000 mile routine maintenance on this vehicle. During these services, it was inspected by local Hyundai dealership and they confirmed the need for them to be replaced but car is available for additional inspection at any time. We first noticed a slight noise coming from the rear end about 4 months ago and it's progressively gotten worse and more frequent. I drive a considerable amount for work and I'm very concerned this is going to cause handling issues while on the road, especially during rainy weather. Internet forums are full of complaints of the same nature with these vehicles with low mileage. I don't know why Hyundai is not addressing this as a safety recall.

Knocking noise at back when driving was told it was the rear shocks. Was told by dealership on 4/4/2024 that there is a TBS regarding this issue.

When turning slowly or going over bumps at a lower speed, a thud or pop can be heard from the rear, which could be the shocks or struts in the rear. On a luxury vehicle, with this low of miles, these shouldn't need replacement so quickly. No warning lights or messages.

I PURCHASED A PALISADE 2021 LIMITED AWD TRIM FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON 12/01/2020 NIGHT. I TEST DROVE A DIFFERENT PALISADE, BUT PURCHASED THIS SPECIFIC PALISADE AS WE WERE LOOKING FOR A BEIGE INTERIOR. WE DROVE THE NEW PALISADE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE HIGHWAY ON 12/06/2020. IT VIBRATES AND RUMBLES ON THE HIGHWAY. IT MOSTLY COMES FROM THE REAR SUSPICION. 1) IT CONSTANTLY SHAKES AND RUMBLES WITH CONSTANT VIBRATION 2) THE SUSPICION ALMOST FEELS LIKE SEATING ON LOOSE SPRING AND CAUSES THE LOWER PORTIONS OF THE CAR TO SHAKE UP & DOWN CONSTANTLY WITH HIGH FREQUENCY. IT MAKES EVERYONE IN THE CAR SEVERELY MOTION SICK WITH LESS THAN 50 MILES OF ROAD TRIP. IT SOUNDS LIKE PALISADE 2021 LIMITED INHERITED THE VIBRATION PROBLEM FROM PALISADE 2020 [AS DESCRIBED IN TSB # 19-SS-003H].
