Rear suspension has continued to have issues. First noticed after about 20,000 miles. A clunk and gurgling sound in rear. Took to local dealership and they didn’t do anything about it. Took again at 35,000 miles and was ignored again. 42,000 the dealership finally listened and replaced rear shock insulation, problem persisted but was a little more muted. 48,860 miles took it to another dealership and they replaced both rear shocks reporting them both as leaky rear shocks. Now at 70,000 all previous symptoms are back and louder than before.

Rear shocks failed at 71,000 miles, front shocks are now failing at 73,000 miles. Vehicle is not driven under harsh conditions and all recommended maintenance has been performed. Service advisor said “the Palisade is notorious for this”. Front rotors/brakes have been reported as in good conditions for months. Now, front rotors are suddenly so warped they need to be replaced immediately.

The shocks on my 2022 Hyundai Palisade are defective. I had both shocks and the absorbers replaced the first time at 44,349 miles on 5/31/25. I had the driver side rear shock and absorber replaced again at 46,567 miles on 7/24/25. I am having the same driver side rear shock replaced again at 48,484 miles on 10/3/25. Defective shocks are a safety hazard by increasing stopping distance and reducing traction in inclement weather conditions. They also cause uneven wear on my tires, which reduces traction, too. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This is a well known problem that Hyundai has failed to correct. I believe they are just making repairs as necessary until the vehicle is no longer under warranty. I have the receipts from the dealer for each repair.

Repeated rear suspension failures on cars with self leveling suspension. I will be having my 4th set installed in 3 years. Rear suspension failure leads to unpredictable cornering and possible accident in and emergency maneuver. Hyundai has stated that there is no issue to warrant a recall or TSB. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate.

Auto leveling suspension failed 3 times under 40,000 miles traveled. Numerous online complaints point to design flow or parts quality issue.

Suspension has been an issue since 10,000 miles. Rear shocks replaced at 58,000. 3,000 miles later the noise & bumpy ride have returned. Had to replace front brakes before 50,000 miles due to wear. Replaced all 4 tires due to extreme uneven wear at 45,000.

Rear shock leaking and in need of replacement at 39,000 miles. Note multiple owners on forums citing the same issue

Mar 13, 2025

Vibration in rear shocks. Car makes regular thumping noises. Bad insulation caps. There is a technical service bulletin 22-ss-001H to replace them under warranty. It is a temporary fix and the problem develops again. My car is no longer under warranty.

Front Driver seat won't move forward or backwards. Rear Suspension clunking noise at slow speed

Jan 12, 2025

Rear of car was noisy going over bumps, self leveling shocks were replaced at around 16k miles , then shocks failed again at less than a year at 49k miles and replaced a 2nd time. Seems to be common issue on palisade forums. These shocks should be recalled due to failure rates. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Rear clunking noise coming from left rear shock. Replaced twice already and still having the same issue.

In Sept. of 2023 I had my routine maintenance on my vehicle, oil change.at Tempe Auto Nation Hyundai. My drivers side 3rd row headrest was not staying up and needed to be replaced. I also mentioned to my extremely rude service agent Jake that my vehicle also had oil dripping coming from under the rear. I allowed him to do the oil change but not the headrest. I transferred location to have my vehicle serviced to Camelback Hyundai. My headrest was replaced by Camelback Hyundai. I also mention the oil leak to my service rep. Steve. I was also told that the vehicle was given an inspection. That I would need tires soon. My vehicle didn’t have 25000 miles on it. I purchased the vehicle new. It was also pulling to the right. The pulling was so bad I purchase 4 new tires. Costing over $700. The next day I took the vehicle to get an alignment, only to find out that my shocks/ struts are completely bad and needed to be replaced. I researched the issue with my Hyundai Palisade to see if there had been any recalls. It appears Hyundai is aware of the issue with the defective shocks. I am very disappointed and angry in the amount of time and money this has cost me because of an issue that The Hyundai Corporation knew was occurring. They knew there was an issue with the headrest and also the shocks. Due to the defective shocks, I had to pay for new tires and alignment for a fairly new vehicle that had not reached 25000 miles and still under warranty. I would not have needed new tires so soon an alignment if Hyundai would have corrected the defective shocks.

I heard a loud thud noise from passenger rear of the vehicle when going over bumps car also has a bad vibration the rear shock absorber and shock are bad and dealership wants me to pay for it. If this part was to completely fail while driving could potentially cause serious injuries to those in the vehicle.

Initially noticed a creaking noise from the rear of the vehicle when going at low speeds and over bumps. The moose got progressively worse over time. The vehicle was first serviced for this issue in September 2023. The Hyundai service center confirmed rear shock shock absorbers and mounts needed replacement. The issue was resolved, but then occured again in March 2024, once again the Hyundai service center confirmed rear shocks were leaking. The left rear shock absorber was replaced again. The same issue occured again in April 2024 and May 2024. The Hyundai service center replaced both rear shock absorbers and insulators in April and replaced passenger rear shock absorber in May. The issue is still persisting after replacement.

May 6, 2024

Drivers side rear shock/struts needs replaced.

Dec 8, 2023

I was told the problem is the rear shock insulators. Both have been replaced & the noise continues.

Nov 30, 2023 Crash

We bought a Hyundai palisade from them. And as a military family we travel and are placed at different duty stations. When we bought the Hyundai palisade, we also got the bill Navarre warranty, it was our fault for not reading every line about the warranty. The Hyundai palisade is a 2022, sadly the brakes started acting like they were not working. We called them and were told that if we use the warranty anywhere other than at that location, we will lose the warranty and since we had been stationed elsewhere since buying the vehicle, we were stuck on what to do. We had to drive the vehicle risking our lives daily, pump the brakes 5-6 times for it to stop. until we could take it back to that location. We took the vehicle in and just as we thought the brakes were bad due to the master cylinder going out. We were given a small rental that the whole family couldn't fit in, we could have gotten a bigger vehicle if we paid the difference. While we waited on them to get the part in. While waiting we were notified that they crashed the vehicle, we are glad they told us, but the damage is done, and the vehicle will lose some of its value. They gave us a small SUV again so small our whole family can't fit in it. We are so upset with Hyundai and Bill Navarre. We have to sit now and reach out to consumer affairs, Hyundai and the BBB as well as the military because none of this is right. It's not right that people buy a vehicle and when something goes wrong due to the auto makers neglect that we have to suffer for it. Just read everything and be aware because Hyundai and the car dealerships don't care about your safety. Social media will be given notice. We took the car in to them on 11/20/2023 and we are not sure what day they wreck the vehicle, but we found out on 11/27/2023. Who is going to give us the difference of what our vehicle is worth and how do we feel safe getting back into an almost new car that the brakes went out in?

Rear struts are leaking hydraulic oil and a knocking noise is noticeable when going over bumps or pulling out the driveway. This is not normal wear on a car that only has 29800 miles. This is not the result of aggressive driving as we only have it for family use and don’t haul absolutely anything. This is bad design and if not fixed, you could start seeing uneven wear on the tires and probably a blowout. There has so be a recall to replace blown struts and not just components like shock absorbers or anything similar. The whole strut needs no be replaced to avoid uneven wear and knocking sounds and car bounce when going through bumps.

Troubling noise from rear suspension/wheel when crossing small bumps at low speeds. It is a clunk/rubbing noise, almost a deep creeking sound. Came on suddenly - first noticed when leaving for work one day. Many weeks to get into dealership.
