I just purchased the new 2024 Palisade. We were traveling about 15-20 mph when approaching a stop sign when I pressed the brakes the ABS braking system went on and I could not stop the car. The car seemed to learch forward while the ABS braking was going on and the car did not stop in time and we traveled into the middle of the intersection. Good thing the driver coming from the cross street slammed on his brakes and did not hit us. The road we were traveling on was a little rough and bumpy at the point the ABS engaged when I was breaking. The braking after the incident seemed to be normal operation.

While closing the front door to the vehicle the back window shattered. Cause is from thermal shock or improper installation of the rear window heating element. I tried to reach out to Billingsley Hyundai of Lawton and they simple stated that they are not able to do window repairs and that it would not be covered under warranty. They didn't even offer to look at the vehicle to diagnose the issue. I have an appointment with Safelife to replace the window. No symptoms were shown prior. We only use the buttons on the rear hatch to open and close it. No manual operation to open and close the rear hatch have been done since owning the vehicle. Safety wise it is a good thing none of our dogs were in the vehicle at the time or the shards of glass would have sprayed onto them. The glass also flew out the back around 2 feet that could have harmed anyone if they were around the vehicle.
It was a sunny day with no water around and I was pulling up to a signal and decide to put brakes on and the car didn’t break right away, instead the car slide for at least 10 ft before it came to a stop. This incident wasn’t the first one and has happened in exact same manner at least 3 times. All the times it has scared the driver as the driver doesn’t know if the brake feature works and when this happens the vehicle drags several feet before coming to a stop.
Component/System: Engine — specifically the engine valve springs and related components. Description of what happened: While driving, the vehicle began to shake violently, and the check engine light came on. At times, the vehicle loses power and shuts off completely, then restarts and drives normally for a short period before the issue returns. It feels and sounds like the engine is about to fall out. These symptoms match the description in Hyundai Safety Recall 255 for the 2024 Palisade (fractured engine valve springs that can cause engine failure, loss of power, and fire risk). Safety risk: The sudden loss of power and engine shaking put my safety and the safety of others at risk, especially while driving in traffic or at higher speeds. The problem could lead to a crash or engine fire if the valve springs fracture or the engine block is damaged. Inspection/confirmation: The problem has not yet been officially confirmed by a dealer, but Hyundai stated that my VIN is not included in the recall, even though my vehicle shows the same symptoms and falls within the recall’s production timeframe. Prior warnings or messages: The check engine light comes on when the vehicle starts shaking, then goes off after the vehicle stops or restarts. The issue has occurred multiple times, most recently in early October 2025. Additional notes: The vehicle is a 2024 Hyundai Palisade, and the issue began about 5 days ago. The symptoms are consistent with fractured valve springs as described in the recall. I am requesting investigation and inclusion of my VIN in this recall.
This vehicle has driver-assist functions and warning lamps in the electronic instrument cluster located in the driver's display area. Randomly and unpredictably a group of warning lights -- "check blind spot" collision alarm, lane safety indicator light, triangle-shaped general alert icon -- all activate simultaneously for no apparent reason. The unpredictability creates a serious distraction to the driver and potentially unsafe reactions which could result in damages and injuries. There are numerous references to this problem on the internet, indicating this is a widespread safety issue for Hyundai models. Dealer said possible recall imminent.
It’s skid three times when I was trying to stop it just kept going almost got into three accidents
Over the course of 6 mos. I've experienced several instances while braking on uneven surfaces, wherein the ABS system of my 2024 Hyundai Palisade reacted surprisingly very unpredictably. On 2 occasions this caused a near-miss; one of which involved braking while turning a corner on a rough surface and the car skidded/skipped (wheel-hopped) unpredictably. In another near-miss, I quickly released/reapplied the brakes which seemed to deactivate this erratic ABS behavior. My vehicle was recently shopped at my local is Hyundai dealership for routine maintenance/defects. This ABS malfunction was also to be addressed. The dealership reported to me that they were unable to duplicate, the car was operating as intended, no trouble found...Of course, I was highly. unsatisfied with this response, particularly after having taken a test drive with the service department supervisor, demonstrating the issue while driving and reviewing relevant online forum discussions that documented the exact issue I've been experiencing. PLEASE HELP BY DEMANDING HYUNDAI IS IMMEDIATELY ADDRESS THIS LIFE THREATENING ABS SAFETY DEFECT BY MEANS OF AN URGENT RECALL! Thank you.
The sunroof glass appears to have exploded or burst open. The vehicle was parked at the time of the incident. The owner had driven the vehicle just two hours prior and returned to it to find that the sunroof had burst upwards sending glass on top of the remain parts of the sunroof and all over the interior cabin. There was no projectile involved and the remaining glass around the hole was protruding upwards indicating it had been pushed upwards by the pressure. This could have happened while occupants were in the vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer who could not find anything wrong with the frame or housing to indicate a defect.
Vehicle Safety Concern - Unintended Vehicle Movement Vehicle Information: 2024 Hyundai Palisade Incident Date: XXXXXXX Location: Commissary parking lot in [XXX] Incident Description: On XXXXXXX my wife parked our Hyundai Palisade in a designated parking space at the commissary. She properly engaged the parking gear selection and turned off the engine. After opening the rear hatch to retrieve shopping bags and securely closing it, she proceeded into the commissary to shop. Upon returning approximately 15 minutes later, she discovered the vehicle was no longer in its original parking position. The Palisade had rolled away from where it was parked and collided with a parked 2018 Toyota Sienna, resulting in property damage to both vehicles. Actions Taken: Due to concerns about a potential mechanical defect that may have caused this unintended vehicle movement, we immediately contacted Hyundai customer service. We have since scheduled and completed diagnostic inspections at two separate Hyundai dealerships. Both dealerships performed comprehensive diagnostics but reported finding no mechanical issues. Safety Concerns: This incident represents a significant safety hazard. The unintended movement of our vehicle in a parking lot could have resulted in serious injury to pedestrians or other motorists. We are deeply concerned about the potential for this incident to recur and cause harm to others. Request for Investigation: We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter to determine if there is a systemic safety defect in the Hyundai Palisade that could cause unintended vehicle movement when properly parked. We believe this incident warrants investigation to protect public safety. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
When braking on an off ramp, the vehicle began to shudder. The steering wheel and brake pedal were shuddering as well. The vehicle came to slower stop than usual almost causing us to rear end the vehicle in front of us. This has happened prior on uneven roads when slowing/coming to a stop. The dealership does not have an answer and couldn’t reproduce it
Vehicle was not being driven. Windshield cracked from bottom about 12 inches, could only have been caused from being a stress fracture.
Sunroof exploded while driving, no evidence of any debris or external force
I was driving on the freeway and my sun roof suddenly just exploded. It was like a bomb went off in my car. My safety was at risk due to the glass. I have reported it to my insurance company to be replaced.
The windows will come off track if you try to roll them up going highway speeds, it is guaranteed to do it if it is windy. The window will vibrate intensely. It seems like the window will break. The only way to fix it is to stop/slow down to about 20mph before it will roll up correctly.
Was simply driving at approximately 40 mph and heard a loud bang come from the area above my head. Noticed a wind noise at that point. Upon getting home it was noticed that the glass on the sunroof had shattered on its own. Nothing hit it. It simply just shattered. I've read about people with a similar issue with this vehicle and I'm concerned. Had the visor that covers the inside of the sunroof been open, glass would have hit me and my children passengers.
2024 Hyundai Palisade Driving at city speeds the sunroof exploded. It was so loud, sounded like a gun was shot inside the vehicle. The local law enforcement was contacted and inspected the damage. Sunroof was taped and a bag was placed over the glass and taped to be able to drive to the local dealership. Hyundai determined the sunroof was defective and replaced it.
We were driving on a highway between two towns with no other cars on either side of the highway and our sunroof exploded. We pulled to the side of the road thinking there was a gunshot or a tire exploded to discover the shattered sunroof. Thankfully we had the slide closed and it contained the glass pieces. The sunroof class was pointed upward. No rocks were bouncing around and nothing hit our windshield. The dealership warranty manager says it was a road hazard but there was no hazard to be had around us.
While braking at a stop, and encountering a pothole (has occurred even without a pothole on straight surfaces), it feels like the is ABS kicking in to avoid wheel lockup, and apparent slowing which rapidly mimics activities that could cause hard braking. Similar to when the car is on ice/snow and the car pulses to stop. Unsafe, as the vehicle does not top when intended and forces the vehicle to take longer to stop with the potential to involuntarily enter an intersection. I have had this occur multiple times. I am fearful that I will potentially have an accident with my grandchildren in the car. Dealership is aware of multiple issues, but cannot duplicate and thus will not resolve. No warning lights, or notifications occurred. Has been discussed on 2024 Palisade Calligraphy forums. Review other reviews on reddit where other models have been affected.
I bought this car 7/23/2024 and on 7/28/24 I noticed my coolant was almost empty after looking under the hood. I filled it myself and I took it back to the dealer to have it checked. They said everything was fine. Told myself I would just keep an eye on it. 8/11/2024 checked again and it went from full line to low line. Took it back to dealership and they check it out again but explained coolant does fluctuate. Decided to keep an eye on it again because they say everything is fine. Today 8/26/24 checked my coolant again and it was completely empty! Not one drop of pink fluid was in the coolant container. Taking it back to the dealership AGAIN! We will see what happens this time.
Possible ABS malfunctioningg/ sensitivity. This is the 3rd incident that occurred and I had this vehicle for less than a month. ABS kicks in while slowing down to stop at a stop sign; the car/ steering wheel shakes vigorously. It disengage my brakes causing the vehicle to take a longer distance to stop. This is concerning as half of the vehicle was in the middle of a busy street and my family safety is at risk.
Windshield cracked with no provocation. Car was parked on driveway when we noticed at least a 6 inch long crack. Car parked in garage overnight and the crack is now about 18 inches. We have about 1500 miles on this car went to Hyundai and they could care less. I have read that others have had this issue also. Not sure if the windshield was put in correctly.
Car begins to shake if brake is applied when diving over uneven terrain. Acts like ABS is applied but car does not slow as it should. No lights or indicators flash when this occurs. Fortunately was able to stop before rolling into intersection as I was already traveling at slow speed. Dealer has not been consulted on this problem but Reddit indicates dealer cannot/will not fix it.
Dear hyundai, My recently purchased hyundai palisade has a cracked windshield with only 2939 miles. I request an inspection to determine if it's a warranty issue and have it repaired or replaced. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My rear moon roof just shattered from the side out, it shattered glass all over my 2 year olds car seat and all over the rear of the car. There is a huge hole in the moon roof.
I was driving in a shopping center parking lot and approaching a stop sign. As I was breaking and approaching the sign, I had to drive over a series of small potholes. As I went over the potholes, it seems the cars ABS system was engaged, and the car began to shake very dramatically, creating a more dangerous situation than needed to be. It seems others have had this problem as well, as I found online forums describing similar experiences driving over small rocks and bumps. It makes it harder to stop the vehicle before getting in the middle of oncoming traffic. There were no warning lamps or beeps to tell me ABS was engaged--it just started happening and only stopped when I pumped the breaks. I have not brought this up to the dealer yet and this issue has not been inspected yet, but I will be following up with the dealer as this is a brand new car.
