The engine has been running rough for awhile and emissions light came on. My car was having problems accelerating, 2 years ago the light came on but didn’t stay on so the dealer couldn’t diagnose problem.
My daughter owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS, which is currently experiencing internal engine failure and abnormal engine noise. These issues directly align with Hyundai’s notification regarding the extended warranty coverage for vehicles equipped with the 3.3L Lambda II GDI engine, which may experience abnormal engine noise or damage. Hyundai has acknowledged these concerns and extended warranty protection for engine repairs or replacement. The Hyundai Holler dealership in winter park Florida. recently inspected the vehicle and reported a critical failure requiring immediate attention. The recommended service included: Timing job (all CVVTs, intake, camshaft, chains, guides, tensioners) Both valve cover gaskets and RTV replacement ( This is the internal parts of the engine) The estimated repair cost was $6,723.92. This recommendation reflects the exact type of engine-related failure covered under Hyundai’s extended warranty for this VIN. It is both unreasonable and disappointing that my daughter was presented with such a significant repair estimate for a condition Hyundai has already committed to covering. For context, my husband is a certified technician, and we have carefully reviewed the inspection details. The diagnosis provided by Holler Hyundais service department is consistent with the warranty-covered issue. Therefore, this repair should rightfully be processed under Hyundai’s extended warranty program.I must also share that my daughter a single disabled mother of three with limited resources and income. The dealership’s approach in presenting her with an astronomical repair bill—without recognizing the warranty coverage—causes unnecessary stress and financial hardship Mr Jesse Cappiello Service consultant. Refuses to accept this as warranty, by stating the warranty is only for Rod bearing failure. When the warranty clearly states engine failure I have attached the warranty info for your review.
In relation to this incident, approximately 3,00 miles after an oil change, the engine oil drain plug fell out and caused all oil to leak and cause engine damage. Engine oil change was at approximately 125,000 miles. Drain plug fell out at approximately 128,000 miles. No warning lights or symptoms were present prior to vehicle shutting off and dying while driving. Vehicle was then towed to shop who previously did oil change. Shop confirmed drain plug was missing and oil level was empty. I am the manager of this shop submitting this on behalf of the customer with this vehicle. We are aware of the ongoing concerns in relation to case DP22-003 and would like to submit this information as further evidence for this case
Engine suddenly failed as I was sitting at a stop light and now is making a rattling/knocking noise
I was driving my daughters to school and the vehicle made a loud squeal and a subsequently a continuous clicking noise. I did not have any warning of the vehicle malfunctioning. There was no check engine light, no loss of power, or anything related to an impending failure. Upon this happening I was able to quickly get the vehicle moved as I was in the middle of the road with people around and lucking was not hit as I immediately stopped. I was close to home and was able to get the vehicle back to our home. Upon speaking with a Hyundai dealership they made me aware of a “silent recall” on many motors within the Hyundai failure due to internal failures. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and inspected and confirmed to have been linked to the engine failure. Hyundai is now stating that due to me being the second owner of the vehicle I am not apt to the extended warranty and there is no notice on any of the public facing knowledge to any of this information. I have gone through almost 2.5 months of back and forth with Hyundai case managers & the Attorney general.
Loss of acceleration and stuttering when I was trying to get up to speed on the interstate going up a hill. Instantly blinking check engine light. Won't go above 2000rpm or 60mph. P1326 code read glow relay short circuit
My car has a known oil consumption problem that has not been recalled on the 2014 vehicles. I have been dealing with issue for the 15 months. Getting the run around because call is out manufacture warranty but when problem first started was still under warranty. I have a extended warranty but
While driving we notice an engine knock, particular when the car reached 2000 RPM or more. the car suddenly lost power and would not exceed 40 mph. We took the vehicle to a mechanic and were informed that it needed the engine replaced.
My steering would work while I was driving with my kids in the car, my breaks were barely working, the hood started smoking and something under the hood in the engine caught on fire, there was a horrible smell when I was breaking and the breaks would jolt. The engine and cooling was not turning off even with my key taken out, the fan engine was running nonstop no matter what, smoking etc
Engine failed mixing oil and coolant
Crack was found in oil pan during regular maintenance. The engine was replaced by Hyundai and now has around 60,000 miles on it. At my expense, the oil plan was replaced.
Check engine light came on and acceleration failed. Hyundai dealership indicated there are no valves in the intake and exhaust ports.
The engine went out while driving on the freeway. All maintenance has always been done and it was burning oil.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal knocking sound. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle sputtered and hesitated while responding. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,547.

I have been notified that I am in need of a new engine due to possible complete engine failure which is on the near horizon. I have the Lambda II V6 3.3L engine. It is knocking, making noises, hesitates to go, feels like it will stall out at all speeds, and is scaring me terribly. My certified local mechanic replaced a part for failed emissions, which cost almost $900. However the check engine light came back on. They stated I must go to Hyundai because they did not believe they could fix the car as it required a new engine. I took it to my Hyundai dealer, where my contact stated yes it should be covered as it was having the issues as have been identified with this engine. He later came back and stated his managers would not let him put through the claim, and said my estimate was now a whole new timing system at a cost of $4600. My car has less than 83,000 miles on it. My previous Hyundai is still running at 200,000 miles, so yes, I take good care of my vehicles. This is an early equipment failure on the part of Hyundai and Kia that they are now owning up to. I drive on busy 4 lane local roads, and I am afraid of this engine failure. Also, when I did take my Hyundai into the dealership, they did not have the ABS part needed for the recall. I was told it would be in within a couple of days. I have not been contacted back by them if it is in and to schedule me an appt. This is a huge failure in itself! I did make a claim to Hyundai Customer Care, that stated it was out of warranty. Today, I have my car at a 3rd automotive mechanic in the area to get a 3rd opinion. He has a minor timing issue code P0018 that emissions still kicked out once I finally got it passed. I am waiting to hear what he has to say regarding my engine with no beforehand knowledge of what I know so far. If my car catches fire or breaks down or seizes up on a busy road, I don't think that will go safely at all. I am very concerned for my safety and that of others.
My 2014 Hyundai Sonata is subject to the recall campaign for the 2.0L and 2.4L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines. Since June 24, 2024, the vehicle has exhibited multiple issues: 1. Check Engine Light: The check engine light is continuously on and blinking, signaling that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. Diagnostic codes retrieved include P0140 (O2 Circuit), P0172 (System Too Rich), and P0126 (Knock Sensor Circuit). While the P0126 code pertains to the knock sensor, there has been no definitive diagnosis to determine if the issue is isolated to the sensor or indicative of a deeper engine problem. 2. Engine Power Issue: The car experiences jolts and kicks back during acceleration, along with intermittent lack of power. Furthermore, an independent mechanic performed some tests on the engine, determining that it runs too rich. After the second white smoke through exhaust incident, the vehicle struggles, and often does not reach, 60 MPH; aligning with "Reduced power and/or hesitation" (case #2) in the recall campaign. 3. Exhaust Smoke: On two separate occasions, within a month, white smoke has been observed exiting the exhaust. Engine oil has been below 3/5 empty each time. No oil leak found; must be exiting through exhaust. Despite qualifying for the recall, the Hyundai Colorado Springs dealer has refused to inspect or replace the engine as required. These ongoing issues pose significant safety risks, including the potential for unexpected engine failure and loss of power while driving.
On [XXX] I was driving down a busy 4-lane in Los Angeles and my engine suddenly died. There were no warning signs like indicator lights or warning noises. It was traumatic and frightening and I thought I was going to be struck by a car or truck. I had little control over the car-it would not accelerate to get out of the road lane. I was coasting, stopped half toward the side of the road but still sticking out in the road lane and was terrified I'd get hit by another vehicle from my back driver's corner. Cars and trucks that were traveling at normal speed were trying to avoid a collision with me and swerving around me, putting myself and others at risk for serious injury or death. I had had all the systems updated 2 years ago at a HMA, Hyundai dealership as I was directed, which included the KSDS (Knock Sensor Detection System). Dealer said it was to warn me of possible engine noise and issues. I never got any warning. I was NEVER told by anyone including Hyundai or any regulatory agency that the engine could suddenly fail as I'm driving the car OR I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT! There were never any warnings at that time or any time that anything was wrong with the vehicle. The car was towed to a Hyundai dealership and they diagnosed the problem on 8/28/2024 as a failed engine bearings clearance test at 63Kmiles. I kept all maintenance records, all done timely and properly with full synthetic oil. The components were assessed by the Hyundai dealership in communication and with guidance through HMA, Hyundai Technical /Techline confirmed failed engine bearings clearance test. My engine was not making any noises beforehand at all, and no engine warning light or sounds gave any warnings to be cautious or do anything other than drive normally. I was told I need an engine replacement. A Prior Approval for the engine replacement was started on 8/28/24 and sent to HMA, Hyundai. 9/17/2024, I still don't have engine replacement, dealer refuses to give records. Engine was replaced in Feb. 2020 as part of the 162 engine recall. Car engine completely shuts down while driving and cannot be restarted for 20 or so minutes. This leaves me stuck in traffic with no ability to move the car. The new engine only has 40,000 miles on it. Dealership first said it was an issue with the engine and valves but when I wanted them to pay, they said the car is fine and passes all inspections. The check oil light and engine light come on when the engine stops, but they are not on prior to the engine stalling. I have made three visits regarding this - 1 to my personal mechanic and two to the Hyundai dealership. I filmed a video of the stall but it is too long to upload.
vehicle was driving then all of a sudden there was an excessive amount of white smoke coming out of exhaust Engine was making a clicking sound before like a card in spokes on a bike and has been excessively consuming oil recently Auto shop discovered that a piston came loose and was rattling around the engine until it eventually shot through the engine
This past Tuesday, July 23, 2024, I started to drive out of my driveway and I heard a very loud knocking noise coming from under the hood. Upon driving the car less than 100 feet the car lost power. It was extremely difficult to get the car back to my driveway. The car was completely impossible to drive and control of my Santa Fe Limited was lost. I had a tow company tow my Santa Fe to the place where I got normal routine service done. Both the tow truck driver and the owner of the auto service business stated the failure was a broken connecting rod or something very similar in the engine. The result was the engine is not able to be repaired and would need to be replaced by a new engine. I purchased the Santa Fe Limited new on May 17, 2024 and I am the only owner. It currently has 72,600 miles on it. I performed all service requirements and changed oil and filter every 5000 miles. Also had my tires rotated and balanced every 5000 miles.
On [XXX] I purchased a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport from an auto dealer in Wichita, Kansas. When I bought the car, On [XXX], my car started making a funny noise and the engine light came on and then it quit running and would not restart. I coasted to a back street and then got a ride home. I had it towed home and then purchased a new battery, thinking that might be the issue; but the new battery didn’t start my car. I called my dealership, as my car has a limited warranty on the engine and other parts for 24 months or 24,000 miles. Whichever comes first. At this time, I only had put 8,311 miles on the car; and had only owned it for 8 months. The dealership had my car towed to the mechanic they use. They determined that the engine had locked up. I received a call from the dealer stating they found out there was a recall on the engine through Hyundai; and stated that they have been in contact with a Hyundai dealership to have my car towed there. I contacted the Hyundai dealership and was informed they do not have a loaner car. I was paying for Lyft rides to work and getting rides by family home during this time. I received a call from the Hyundai dealership stating my car had been approved for a new motor to be installed; but it would take 3 to 4 weeks before it is shipped; and they still do not have a loaner car. I then rented a car from Enterprise on 5/11/24 for a week. On 5/15/24 I got a call from the Hyundai dealership stating my car would be ready on 5/16/24. I asked if the motor had been shipped in, and was told yes (which seemed odd since he had said a few days ago that it would take 3 to 4 weeks). I got a call on 5/16/24 that my car was ready. I went in to pick up my car and drove it a couple of days; and oil ran out. Dealership picked it up, supposedly fixed it; and now the oil light keeps coming on. I don't believe I got a new engine; and I am paying a lot of money for a salvage valued car. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 3rd owner with 54,098 miles, all maintenance records. Engine seized without warning on 6/18/2024. Hyundai states VIN is not part of published open recall for similar reason. Prior to Engine failure, Dealership updated the computer after vehicle went into limp home mode (November 2022) and a second auto repair facility replaced the anti-knock sensor under an extended warranty plan after a second Limp Home mode (Spring 2023).
My 2014 Santa Fe was scheduled for a Recall 251 ABS Brake Failure-Fire hazard. NHTSA and Hyundai both advised owners of vehicles associated with this recall to park away from structures and recommended the vehicle not to be driven. Hyundai did not have a solution for roughly 6 months. During that time I kept my vehicle parked and away from structures as recommended for that 251 safety concern. I periodically would start the car and let it run to keep it from failing. I went through an entire winter season waiting for a solution a recall. My car just sat. Extreme weather and susceptible to dirt as it sat outside parked. Finally in May 2024 I was informed that Hyundai had a solution and parts were ready for the 251 recall repair. Well the day I was scheduled to bring my vehicle in to be repaired I went out and attempted to start the vehicle but could not. I tried to jump the battery and it still wouldn’t start so I called the dealer and told them that I couldn’t get the vehicle started. They would not provide a tow so I rescheduled the appointment and I called a tow service the next day. Tow came and checked the battery. The battery was fine. They jumped the battery and the vehicle turned on. the vehicle to a local dealer and they repaired the recalls. The vehicle was driven to the dealer that week. My vehicle’s recalls were completed and I picked up the car a week later. All of a sudden when I went to start the car it would not turn over. I stalled in the lane of travel and avoided a collision. I called a private tow again, towed to the same dealer that did the recall. Engine light came on and they were able to determine that the crank position sensor failed as to the reason for stalling and intermittent starting. $600 later they repaired it. I left and the next day my car wouldn’t start again. I associated this with the 251 recall and wear as it sat dormant for too many months. Hyundai refused to provide Goodwill or reimbursement for the crankshaft repair.
Car seized on the freeway. No warning, no lights, nothing it just died. Waiting on an explanation from the dealership;
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 MPH on a highway exit ramp, she depressed the brake pedal and the "ABS" and check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not slowing and was vibrating while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the brake pedal was very soft while being depressed and the vehicle was stalling. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and replaced the brake seals and other unknown brake parts. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the brake failure reoccurred along with the engine stalling. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

We were driving along the freeway at approximately 65 miles per hour. The car suddenly started to hesitate and then the engine cut completely out. We lost power steering and brakes when the engine cut out, but managed to get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road safely. There were no warning lights and the engine quit almost instantly. We had it towed to the Hyundai dealer and they said that the engine was destroyed and needed to be replaced.
Check light flashing found dtc p1326 and the engine is knocking tech found tab Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Sonata and Santa Fe Sport vehicles. Machining errors during the engine manufacturing process may cause premature bearing wear within the engine.
Engine has excessive oil consumption. Many complaints on engines failing and Hyundai not doing anything about it. They won’t even run tests on the car.
While driving engine began to sputter and power ceased, stranding my wife on a busy highway in the dark. Engine suffered 2 out of 4 cylinders failure on the highway, engine is dead. Dealership quoted $18,000 all told to fix the damages. Routine maintenance performed and on top of that, constant topping off of oil for a bad oil consumption issue. Hyundai refused to warranty or help at all in any way even after stating over the phone that it has been a known defect for some time and should be covered. Hyundai has left me with a dead car, no help to fix it or replace it and a loan still to pay off.
What component failed or malfunctioned? Vehicle's engine is burning oil. There are no leaks and no oil left behind after it has been parked for extended periods, yet the engine is bone dry when oil levels are manually checked with the dip stick. The vehicle's engine has been the subject of numerous lawsuits and settlements for connecting rod bearing failures, so it is likely that my vehicle is in the early stages of this failure. Despite the lawsuits, settlements, and known issues, the manufacturer refuses to inspect or test for these issues under warranty. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? One of the recalls that resulted from one of the previous lawsuits led to the installation of an engine knock sensor which is meant to stall the engine and place it into a "limp mode" when the failure is happening. If this is to happen while I am operating the vehicle (especially on the highway), it could put myself, my child, or others on the road at risk when the vehicle suddenly goes from operating at 65+ MPH to something much slower without warning. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The manufacturer refuses to test for these issues under warranty, despite the symptoms clearly pointing to early rod bearing failure. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The manufacturer refuses to test for these issues under warranty, despite the symptoms clearly pointing to early rod bearing failure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There has been no warning aside from a simple "check engine" light. Had I not manually checked my oil levels, I would not have noticed the engine was bone dry before operating the vehicle.
On [XXX] I was driving down [XXX] doing 80mph with my family in the car, including my 7month old son. As I was going down the interstate, the vehicle malfunctioned and seized up. I had to manually push to get the vehicle off the interstate to avoid getting hit. The vehicle lights all flashed on and cut off. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership to find out what is wrong with the vehicle, if needed I give permission to get information/inspect the vehicle. I am still trying to get clear answers from Hyundai about what happened to the vehicle and to get it repaired. The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled with the oil warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The manufacturer provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.

While driving, came to a red light and stopped. When the light turned green, I pushed on the gas peddle and the car went completely black! No lights, no go, no warning, no nothing! It was the middle of afternoon rush hour, when people were getting off of work! No warning lights or problems prior warned me that something could be wrong. Up until that point, it drove smoothly, no issues at all. I had just had a routine maintenance check: oil and filter change, point checks, and anti theft installed, just a few months before, at this same dealership, and was told everything was good. The Hyundai dealership, where I had it towed, told me, after running the diagnostics, the replace engine code came up as the problem. But when I asked the service tech what could have caused it, all he said was, it could be a lot of things. I then asked the service tech as to why I had no warning at all, he responded, it could be a lot of things. They quoted me a cost from $7200 to $8000, not including tax, to replace the engine with a re manufactured engine. Unfortunately, I did not have an extended warranty, but I'm still very confused, angered, and stressed as to why I had no warning what so ever!
Same issue with my Santa Fe Sport with the engine burning oil. It left me stranded on a back road up hill when it just slowly stopped accelerating and shut off. I had it towed to Hyundai dealership who wanted me to purchase a brand new engine. After talking to a friend who is a mechanic he told me about the lawsuit going on. I confronted Hyundai with this new information I had gotten. I was able to get the engine replace but I’m appalled at Hyundais sketchy way of trying to bypass this. Had not for my friend told me then I would have paid for a new engine! Dealership kept my vehicle for 4 months because they were out of stock in engines due to the amount of vehicles having the same issue! Wow now the truth unfolds. Shortly after getting the car back the check engine light came on. When reversing the vehicle would buck and seem like it wanted to stall out. Autozone hooked up computer and said torque converter code showed. Autozone said if I just had my engine replaced then the dealership didn’t install it right or broke something during the process. I took it back to Hyundai and they verified converter code and said I needed a new transmission! Prior to the engine issue this car NEVER had problems. The second the engine was replaced everything went wrong! Seems very sketchy. The car started losing power when driving. I was on the highway and it would not accelerate. I was terrified I was going to get hit by all the other vehicles. Cars were dodging me and slamming on breaks and honking horns. I managed to make my way to pull over. Got the transmission replaced like I was told and the converter replaced. Car is still doing the same thing. Hyundai said I needed converter replaced AGAIN two months after they replaced it. Now everyone at Hyundai was fired… wonder why. Now I took it back to Hyundai again, car has not been driven in over a year. Now they are saying no issue with converter it’s the transmission! Hyundai needs to be out of business. They put us in danger!
Knock Sensor did its job and heard something in the engine and put the car in "limp mode". Car was "bucking" and would not go above 15mph in Atlanta area rush hour traffic. Barely coasted home. Towed the car to local dealership. Dealership stated the car passed the rod bearing test, so not eligible for a new engine, or any other repairs. But, they stated it does NEED a new engine. Said it needs a new knock sensor (we pay!) and new spark plugs (just replaced 2 months prior - once again, we pay!), and they stated oil is low (oil change done 1 month prior). Dealer stated nothing can be done until the engine completely fails/does not pass rod bearing test. We are expected to drive a dangerous car (assuming it will drive as it won't start at this point). Car has been sitting at the dealership since 11/15/23. Our other car is a Hyundai as well. That engine failed completely but luckily I was on a side road and not in traffic. Hyundai does NOT care about consumer safety.
I discovered the vehicle had an internal engine leak after finding that the engine oil was low after manually checking it. There was no warning light that came on to show the low engine. After refilling the oil and driving the vehicle for a couple of days, the engine developed a knock. The vehicle subsequently shut down and will not restart. This occurred while driving and I was unable to have enough momentum to pull to the side of the road safely.
* Unresolved Engine issues * My car no longer feels safe to drive * The problem has been confirmed by a dealer * I'm not sure if the vehicle or component was inspected by anyone outside of the dealership service area. * I wasn't due for an oil change until November 28 however on November 7th, my oil light appeared so I took the car to an auto center near my home which was Goodyear. They found that there was no oil in my tank and tested it for leaks. There were no external leaks. I made an appointment with the dealership and they confirmed an issue with the engine. They made some repair and advised that I drive no less than 1,000 miles and up to roughly 1,025 miles then return for service. I confirmed with the service technician that this engine is under warranty so when I return , I would like to have the engine repaired. . NOTE: I have dealership documents to share if needed. I returned within the required milage at 1,008 miles. As I was headed to the dealer, the service technician called me to say that I had to have an oil change on that day, and then return later after an ADDITIONAL 1,000 miles. My warranty will expire in a little over 3 weeks and I haven't been able to reach the 1,000 mile requirement for their testing purposes. Now that the car hasn't been driving too smoothly and also recently began to be very loud while idling, I don't feel safe driving it. At this point I want Hyundai to exam the engine and repair the engine now before the warranty runs out. Otherwise they aren't really honoring the warranty if they impose obstacles to consumers, denying them their use of the warranty. I've reached out to Hyundai, however I don't know how quickly they will act or if they will acknowledge my letter at all. I'm contacting you in an effort to get assistance in having this engine repaired as soon as possible.Thank you in advance for your assistance .
For months there was a knocking/rattling sound coming from under my hood… I never got my oil changed at Hyundai. I always went to 10 minute express for my oil changes. The one time i do decide to go to Hyundai for an oil change/ inspection my car engine seizes 2 months later. Found out it seized due to no oil, there was no low oil pressure light on no warning light nothing. Hyundai doesn’t and won’t fix the issue. Mind you I’ve been keeping my car maintenance every 3 months when it comes to an oil change. The day i decide to use Hyundai is the reason why my car stopped working. After taking the dead car to Hyundai they said after 200,000 miles the engine drinks a lot of oil. Again nobody told me this til after. I’m very upset with Hyundai cause they don’t see their fault in this. Since I’m not the original owner it’s nothing they can do. I got extended warranty on it and it was a waste of money
unknown==Vehicle suddenly lost heating inside of car---stalled --lost power steering---avoided oncoming traffic---stuck in middle of the road---was able to restart to get home My first thought was t-stat was bad----but no indication of overheating on dash.I proceeded to change t-stat anyway.Upon removal of thermostat I found my coolant was contaminated with oil.It was sludge. An off white sludge that looked like glue. Consulted dealer and was told it sounds like a big job .As I am retired and fighting cancer at this time, there is no way I can afford a large repair bill.Don't know what to do. thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle stopped while driving on the highway at night. No warnings or service lights. Vehicle just recently had an oil change and there were no signs of potential engine failure reported. After towing to meineke to run a diagnostic, I was informed by Hyundai corporate to have it towed to a Hyundai dealer, since they showed I have an extended warranty. After having it towed to Hyundai, it was confirmed again it needs a new engine, but the warranties don't cover it. No one is explaining how a powertrain warranty and extended warranty isn't covering engine failure when that is what it's intended for. Carfax show all proper maintenance conducted on vehicle.
Total engine failure
On Monday, October 23rd at 5:30 pm my 2014 Santa Fe engine stalled without any warning. I was driving home during rush hour traffic when it slowed down and seized in the middle of five lanes. As cars flew beside me, I quickly realized that there was no where for me to safely get out of my vehicle. Where I was located on the freeway is one of the busiest and most dangerous areas to drive. Unfortunately, I was located on a slight bend of the freeway where oncoming traffic could not see me until the very last minute. This barely left enough time for them to safely move over. Many cars had to quickly swerve to either lane beside me to avoid crashing in to me. This was happening at very rapid speeds. While drivers were swerving to not hit me at the very last minute, there was barely enough time to for them to check for other cars in those lanes. This resulted in many nearly missed hits for other drivers on the road. I was sure a car was going to crash into me, so I dialed 911 to help me. Shortly after a sheriff showed up and pushed my car with his squad car to a crash site off of the freeway. There I sat for a few hours waiting for a tow truck in my car which was not the safest area for a woman to be waiting in her car in the dark all alone. The whole experience was terrifying and should not have happened. My Santa Fe has now been sitting at my local repair shop dead. They said the engine is shot and that I need to replace the engine which will cost $10k+. I purchased the car for $15k three years ago with nothing wrong with it, at least so I thought. After doing some research, it turns out Hyundai engines have had MANY issues and failures. It seems they've had many complaints about this issue. There are recalls and even lawsuits on them, but unfortunately they exclude my car even thought I had the exact same issue as others that were remedied. These cars should all be recalled and taken off of the road immediately. They pose a huge danger to anyone on the road.
I am writing to provide you with detailed information regarding the engine failure incident that occurred on November 15, 2023, involving my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The component that failed was the engine itself, which resulted in a sudden and complete loss of power while I was driving at highway speeds. This incident posed a significant safety risk to both myself and others on the road, as it left the vehicle without any operational systems, including power steering. Fortunately, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and avoid a potentially catastrophic accident. I feel incredibly fortunate that I was alone during this dangerous situation, as it could have been far more perilous had my three children, aged 3, 5, and 10, or my wife, been in the vehicle with me. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer who conducted an inspection and determined that the engine had seized. However, it is important to note that the dealer has refused and denied any repair or assistance in resolving the issue. As of now, the police have not conducted an inspection of the vehicle or its components, and I have not reported this incident to my insurance. Surprisingly, there were no warning lamps, messages, or any other symptoms indicating a problem prior to the engine failure. The failure occurred suddenly and without any prior warning while I was driving in heavy traffic. I consider myself extremely lucky that the engine was not at operating temperatures at the time of the failure. There was visible smoke coming from under the hood with oil spray, but thankfully, there was no fire. I am deeply concerned about the safety implications of this incident and would appreciate any guidance or support you can provide in resolving this matter.
While driving at 60 mph on the interstate, the engine shut down completely and lost all gas. We were able to coast to an exit, and with our two young children in tow, get a tow truck. Upon taking it to the repair shop, they stated the engine seized and needs an entire engine replacement. We are at 101,000 miles, just past the 100,000 mile warranty. Still waiting for paper documentation from repair shop.
On 11/17/23, my engine failed with 167,818 miles on the odometer. Luckily, I was not in danger other than blocking a city street during Friday rush hour. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. It was towed to a professional car care facility that did a diagnostics on it. The only warning lamps that were on was the ABS, which are on because the failed rear hub sensors have yet to be replaced (The dealership determined this and was ordering the parts). This 2014 Santa Fe XLE has the 3.3L GDI V6 engine and with all the lawsuits going on over the 2.4L engine (in the Sport model), I find it hard to believe that this engine would not have the same or similar problem. The report (attached) by the mechanic said it had lost 4-5 quarts of oil before it stopped running. I change the oil regularly and have all the records indicating oil changes at 5-7.5k intervals. The contact is being sold for spare parts.
On June2 2023 I was driving on I75 north to Wesley chapel, Pasco exit ramp 273 I and granddaughter were left on highway no Emergency lights nothing. My SUV just shut down just no warning no lights no noise huge smell of chemical burn when my daughter and the road ranger arrived they notice the bad smell at engine like chemical very bad. There was ni emergency lights, rpms were not working i notice ut dropped down, a tractor trailer wad seconds inches on my suv. I did a sudden sharp turn steering column so I can get the SUV to glide into the triangular Divider with the exit was for me to get off so we were stuck I 75 north in between pasco exit to 73 that's where my SUV broke down. No Warning nothing now which is November 2023 my car still not running I had a recall dates but I became ill now ill Now I have to find out I can get my car fixed. When I purchase the car several months later I noticed the Abs lights were on but ABS breaks the slope and the traction all those lights go on emergency break light goes on while i drive but that did not happen during the time that I was driving on the i75 north highway. I had my granddaughter who was 9 years old at the time. We could have been hit. Suv was locked down And said goodbye it was like someone controlling my suv. SUV was zzz like gliding I have a full tank of gas. I had to tow it after waiting 8 hours no lights on suv but I also tried to have the battery tested or started it'll start but the key fob will not work. Its confused. I'm very very upset I paid off my suv, had one recall after I bought and now again. This time SUV died no warning nothing I feel courtesy Hyundai should tow my suv, recall check, courtesy check and my two key fobs. This I should not have to feel UNSAFE in my suv always wondering will this happen again and will I be a fatal driver hoping I don't have any of my grandchildren nor my adult kids or any human being.
My Santa fe was having 3 times Engine light on in 3 different scenarios 1. Again 3rd time Engine light goes on and left the car on July 24th 2023 and ever since the car was never given until November 4th. - So many tech line investigation and check and follow ups ,however inspite of all the follow ups , again the vehicle turned off.!Need help and support.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ENGINE FAILED How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? CAR CUT OFF ON BUSY HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND WE WERE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO MAKE IT TO THE RIGHT LANE TO PULL OVER!!! Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE ENGINE HAS SEIZED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO! Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO LIGHTS APPEARED UNTIL THE ENGINE SEIZED…I STILL HAD PLENTY DAYS AND MILES TO GO BEFORE OIL CHANGED!!!! CAR BROKE DOWN OUT OF NO WHERE & THIS IS MY 3RD TIME POSTING ON HERE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I TRIED OPENING AN INVESTIGATION AND NO ONE RESPONDS. AN INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE OPEN FOR THR HYUNDAI SANTA FE 3.3L ENGINES!!!!
Engine crank rod bearing is failing just bought this and within a month it starting failing on me. Have a loud knocking sound and no check engine light ever went on. Just woke up one morning turned it on and the noise was there
On 9/16/23 in Pierpont, OH, my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's engine seized driving 55 mph. No warning as engine lost power. Drifted to side road into parking lot. Engine smelled of electric burning (diagnosed at dealer with burned out battery as well as burned out starter as well as catastrophic engine failure). I have always carried an auto fire extinguisher in this car as they have been known to catch fire when engines seized and I had researched the problems with these engines since being notified of the engineering defects they have. At the time of the engine failure, I had my husband and my dog in the car, as we were on vacation leaving us stuck on the side of a road in 80 degree heat and we were 100 miles away from home. My vehicle was towed to Victory Hyundai in Jefferson, OH, about 11 miles from where I broke down. It has been there since awaiting diagnosing as well as submission to Hyundai for engine replacement under current powertrain warranty. I promptly had all recalls & services (oil changes) done throughout my ownership of car, as part of lifetime engine warranty program due to known engine issues with Hyundai and Kia GDI Theta engines. Engine replacement was granted on 10/13/23 by Hyundai. Will be approx 3-6 months to wait for engine to be received and replacement to be installed. Prior to engine failure, engine went into limp mode in May of 2019 with P1326 code and was towed to dealership where I purchased my vehicle (Preston Hyundai in Boardman, OH). Second software update was completed and engine checked for any defects and was cleared to drive. Had no issues with engine until it seized in September.
I bought my car, drove it for 2 whole weeks before the engine started knocking. The oil was dry. It had been serviced and oil changed, no prior problems. Until the oil light came on, it was dry, it had a burning smell inside the oil cap. It couldn't pick up speed, thankfully my kids weren't in the car, even though that is supposed to be a family car of 6, 2 adults and 4 kids. This needs to be addressed.
Loss of power and then lower engine rod knock. Engine is a total loss and needs to be replaced.
The engine burns oil at an alarming rate. It also frequently stalls when driving on the highway, trying to accelerate, or when driving up hill. The gas pedal will shake when accelerating and the car sometimes feels like it’s jerking. I have done an oil consumption test and tried to work with a local dealership that told me there are recalls on all of the other engines in this make and model but not my liter. He said that a recall should be issued because this is a common problem but it has not been done yet. When the car displays these engine issues the Check engine light comes on, most of the time if you stop the car and wait 10ish minutes then restart the light will be gone.
Lost power on the highway while driving. No engine lights or warnings came on. Took to dealership and they said it was due to rod bearing failure.
2014 Santa Fe 3.3L with 108,000 miles. Sudden total loss of power on the highway. Check engine light came on, was able to pull onto shoulder and shut off vehicle. Towed to dealership, engine code ended up being P0304 and engine was completely seized - would not rotate. Safety of my family and others on the highway was compromised when the vehicle lost all power and had to immediately veer off the road onto a narrow shoulder. Problem was confirmed by a Hyundai dealership. Vehicle has not been inspected by the other listed parties. No warning whatsoever was seen, felt or heard. Check engine light came on after the engine had seized.
While traveling 70mph on the expressway with my husband and 2 small children in the car, we experienced catastrophic engine failure in our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, which nearly resulted in an accident because of the sudden deceleration. There were no warnings indicating a problem beforehand (no lights illuminated on the dashboard or any other indications of a problem) until the car suddenly made a large knocking sound and stopped running. After being stranded on the side of a dangerous highway with our children for over 2 hours, we had to have the car towed to the nearest mechanic, 60 miles from our house, who diagnosed the problem as a failed engine due to a rod bearing failure. The rod was thrown through the engine, and the mechanic informed us it would be a minimum of $10,000 to replace the failed engine with a used one. We contacted Hyundai who told us our car was not part of the extended warranty or recalls that resulted from a previous lawsuit, and they offered us no assistance or solution. They also quoted us $8,000-$20,000 to replace the engine. In our research we have found that many other Hyundai's with a 3.3L engine have experienced this same catastrophic engine failure. We have maintained the car accordingly and even brought the car in to be serviced just weeks before we took this trip. There was absolutely no indication of a problem before this happened.
On July 29, 2023, while driving in McAllen, Texas, our 2014 Hyundai engine failed, to wit: head gasket. Typically, this would not be a national issue and on first blush, seems related to a singular, isolated incident. However, this does not appear to be the case. Last summer, Hyundai settlement included a new engine for this car. (See class action settlement). The engine was replaced, however, it has come to light that Hyundai has set aside defective replacement motors. Indeed, there are consumers nationwide, complaining of the same. On July 29th, the unit began to catch fire, in that the wiring harnesses, and other wiring which are adjacent to and connected to the block, and its appendages, experienced extreme heat, melting, and burning. If not for my quick and necessary reaction, it is possible and likely that a catastrophic fire would have ensued. Hyundai has not corrected the original problem and has intentionally or by gross negligence, put into motion a series of events, if left unchecked, will, with little doubt, cause the loss of property and life. The engine has about 35,000 miles on it since replacement. The total mileage is approximately 129k. Case #21799766 (reported to Hyundai) initial case # 18911395 (Prior to engine replacement.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, she smelled a strong gasoline odor. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's daughter veered to the side of the road and noticed that gasoline was leaking from the fuel pump location. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump hose was leaking, and the fuel pump and hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V934000 (Engine, Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Mileage: 110,000
Engine burned two quarts of oil between scheduled oil changes. Vehicle has 88,200 miles on it. Engine could sieze up on the highway and cause an accident.
The engine failed and yes it’s available for inspection upon request. The safety of myself and my children were put at risk because I was driving on the highway and my car shut all the way down. I had to safely get to the shoulder to pull over while maneuvering through high highway traffic. The problem has been identified by the dealership and it has been in their possession for over a month now. Prior to the car completely shutting down there was literally no lights coming on.
The component that failed was the engine. It is available for inspection at this time. My car died in the middle of the road while my daughter was driving it. 2 different garages including the dealership I purchased it from confirmed the engine is blown. There was no indication given that the engine was blown. This is a known engine malfunction with these vehicles that I only just became aware of. The oil evaporates from the engine which causes a rod to get thrown.
Driving on the highway for approximately 10 minutes when the vehicle began to lose power and the check engine light came on. Immediately pulled over onto the highway shoulder and white smoke began to come out from under the hood. Exited the vehicle and the white smoke increased in amount and intensity. Less than 5 minutes from the initial loss of power, the smoke turned black and large flames engulfed the entire engine compartment and front of vehicle. Fire department arrived approximately 10 minutes after the fire began and managed to extinguish the fire. The entire engine compartment had been consumed with almost no recognizable components remaining. Car has been claimed by insurance company and is likely to report vehicle as a complete loss after their inspection.
Car not shifting correctly. No power. Could not gain speed to merge into traffic. Was intermittent for months finally the engine light came on. My mechanics diagnostic showed it was the turbo charger. There is a service bulletin 22-22-EM-004H
I purchased this vehicle from a dealership in August of 2022. In November of 2022 I was driving home from work and the check engine light came on. I was about 5 minutes from home and as soon as I pulled in the driveway my vehicle cut off. I then had it towed to a dealership for repair. I was told that I needed a whole new engine. I had paid 10,000 to have this repair but I am seeing the same issue that has happened with similar vehicles along with engine recalls describing my same situation. I would like to know if my situation was an engine recall as well. I was not anticipating on purchasing a vehicle for $18,000 to turn around less than 2 months later to have to pay another $10,000 to have a new engine.
As wife was driving our vehicle the engine stalled out. We had it towed off the highway to eventually the dealership where we purchased. They inspected and vehicle warranty company inspected and confirmed failed engine. The vehicle had prescribed oil changes at recommended intervals. It was purchased with 50k miles and has 117k miles.
Hi, I bought my car from Honda of Concord in June 2020 and they’re the only ones that have serviced my car. I had my last oil change on 03/24/23 and had 40 days to get my oil changed again. No light or anything came on until my car broke all the way down. When I checked the oil level there was NO oil in the car whatsoever, so I bought some and put it in there and towed it to the dealership the next day. The Honda dealership told me after charging me $100 for a diagnostic fee that it was because of the engine. So I had the car towed to the Hyundai dealership for my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The Hyundai of Concord location told me they couldn’t see the car for 3-4 weeks. At that point I had it towed to South Charlotte Hyundai who then had to do another diagnosis which costs $109. They told me that the engine failed do to no oil being in the car!! Now I am going back and forth between these two dealerships. Honda says it’s due to oil consumption. There’s a recall going on for oil consumption with the type and year of car I have. Hyundai says it’s not related to the recall but because there was no oil in the car. I maintenance my car like I suppose to every month and they are trying to act like I’m responsible. I am not understanding this at all. Hyundai is trying to charge over $12,000 to fix my car and that’s just not sitting right with me. Either Honda of Concord messed my car up by not putting the oil back in after the oil change or not doing it right or Hyundai needs to fix this issue do to the recall! Also, the Hyundai Corporate woman stated she don’t see where Hyundai left notes on any action taken on the car so she’s not sure where they are getting the numbers from for the engine replacement amount. The dealership never attempted to do a pre approval to see if the engine could be replaced although out of warranty.
Engine stalled and would not restart while in left turn lane. Vehicle had to be pushed from the turn lane through the intersection to a safe place on side of road. Towed to local Hyundai dealer who diagnosed problem as lower engine bearing problem. Engine needs to be replaced. The only possible warning was a few days earlier, vehicle started running a little rough but then started acting normal again.
Hi I'm in the car with my granddaughter 9 years old We will ready to visit my oldest son his daughter my 3rd grandchild 9 months old.my 9 year old granddaughter we were on I75 north ready to change lanes into the right slow lane as I am ready to merge onto exit 275 Ramp Land o lakes. I notice my rpm numbers are at zero, my SUV was losing speed, I had a green 18 wheeler tractor trailer exactly on my back end of my Hyundai Santa fe sport 2014, exactly on top of us. I can see the grill count bugs on it. My granddaughter was so upset, crying, panicky afraid to get hit by the cars, trucks, staying stranded.myquick thinking I kept my foot on the gas gave it all I could manage to get my SUV on the triangle safe spot in front of the sign exit 275. Once I took my foot slowly off the gas I notice all of the components were locking up shutting down slowly the lights just dimming into darkness nothing nothing was on as if she just shut down to sleep. It was very scary I am also suffering anxiety flashback what if I didn't think to get out of the tractor trailers way. My god my granddaughter I would have been hit slamed hard or pushed into on coming traffic or teadbone into the divider or over the slope. I dont feel safe my suv. That truck was not stopping he was pushing his way.i am devastated. I paid in full my suv in 2yrs under the 4 1/2 yrs. I bought my suv.from ford dealer Tampa fl.paid infull under a new steering columns has to be replaced? After I heard the clicking sound and I was shown a little tool was going to be put in. I said no a new steering column has to be replace due to safety. the Service tech who put my steering column also broke my power auto seat driver Side. Chair still pops out the electric left side button for lumbar, heat safetychair adjusting. I was told the recall took care of the chemical liquid brake fluid component quick fix I told the dealer about my age lights, traction, slope lights emergency brake lights on. road ranger can smell chemical burn
Just under 80k miles with the 3.3 V6 and I was told the car had oil consumption and had the timing chains done and not even 24 hours later driving down the highway the connecting rod went through the block absolutely junking the whole motor
2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vehicles equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines manufactured through September 12, 2014 at Kia Motor Manufacturing. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 17V226000 Vehicles Affected: 572000 Consequence: Bearing wear may result in the engine seizing, increasing the risk of a crash. What You Should Do: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine, replacing the engine short block, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 162.
Excessive oil consumption. Currently uses 1.2 quarts per 1,000 miles
This is the 2nd engine that has had a connecting rod bearing issue. The first time while driving the engine seized causing my vehicle to come to an abrupt stop in traffic. putting my Daughter myself and others at risk. I was able to stop. no inspection as of today. The first time no light came on before the engine blew up. The 2nd the engine light did come on giving me warning.
Loss of motive power.. Oil leakage failure occurred at highway speed, without malfunction, indicator lights, or the leakage associated with under-tightening an oil drain plug, or a plug or pan with a damaged thread. The alleged defects are causing engines to seize and loss of motive power.
Took my vehicle to get a abs module fixed and after that my truck had gave me problems, my vehicle was shaking and under hood smoking while me and my kids were in it. The engine light and battery light were flickering off and on. Almost got into an accident

I brought the 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE ON MAY 10, 2022. On JANUARY 7, 2023 I was driving down the highway when the HYUNDAI shut down. No warning lights or nothing just stopped. We could not get it started no matter what we did. My son in law checked it out and found out it was the engine. Talked to the dealer and found out there was a recall for an engine in 2018. That was never taken care of. We never knew about the recall until after my HYUNDAI HAD TROUBLE. Took it to the HYUNDAI DEALER IS DES MOINES FEBRUARY 10, 2023 and they said there was 3 recalls that was not done . But they now said it is too late for the recalls . SO WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW IS ARE WE GOING TO GET THE RECALLS DONE OR JUST FORGET ABOUT FIXING THE HYUNDAI. I SEEN WHERE ENGINES OR MOTORS WAS FOREVER INSURANCED ON HYUNDAIS. ARE THEY YET.?? Please let me know as soon as you can if the recalls will be honored by email. And if so where could I take my HYUNDAI TO GET FIXED AS I DO NOT TRUST [XXX]. EITHER WATERLOO, IA OR MANKATO, MN. THANK YOU [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The engine seized while driving. Had it replaced with warranty. 2 years later the engine seized again and the dealership and Hyundai refuse to replace it. Even with proof of proper maintenance.
I bought a brand new Hyundai Sanat Fe 2014 in August of 2014 in Indiana. On March 7, 2023, at 81,000 miles I brought it to my auto mechanic shop for its scheduled oil change. However,1 day prior, the engine light went on and I noticed a clinking noise coming from the engine. The mechanic noted "not even a quart of oil in engin. burning oil - no leaks present. if it's not under warranty from Hyundai - recommend getting new vehicle p0014 b camshaft position timing over advanced, p0024 b camshaft position timing over advanced." On the afternoon of March 7, 2023 I called my dealer and told the warranty person what my mechanic said. He said to make an appointment. The very earliest appointmet they gave me was Thursday, March 23, 2023. Every time I start my engine, I get a code on my display that says sending diagnostics failed. I'm starting to hear the clinking from the engine again. The contact stated that they sold the vehicle as a result of not feeling safe to drive it.
The oil needs to be changed monthly due to an engine issue. Recently the car went into engine failure despite regular maintenance. The engine's constant need for monthly oil changes due to a bad engine causes the car to go into "limp mode". This feature causes to car to immediately decrease speed endangering the people in the car and those around them as it is an uncontrolled decrease. The issue has been confirmed and inspected by a dealership, a third party chain maintenance company, and an auto repair company. The check engine light comes on everytime the car needs an oil change which is more frequently than the manual recommends. The check engine light comes on monthly as does limp mode however prior to the engine failure another dealership was not able to properly diagnose the issue as an engine issue. A recall has been issued for issues related to the engine previously and other makes of the same year have been recalled due to engine issues. This model was the only model not recalled despite similar issues.
While driving 65mph on the highway the Hyundai Santa Fe check engine light began flashing, and the car was immediately pulled over to the side of the road. A knocking noise was observed coming from the engine. A tow truck was called, but I had to wait approximately 40 minutes on the side of the highway, in the winter, for the tow truck. The car was then towed to a local mechanic, the mechanic inspected the vehicle and reported the code was P1326. The VIN number was checked for any recalls by the Hyundai customer service team, and there are no recalls for this Hyundai. Although, when looking at https://www.hyundaiengineinfo.com/faq/ the symptoms are identical to other vehicles that were included in the recall. The car is available for inspection upon request.
The engine seized while driving 55MPH. Vehicle suffered complete loss of power. There was no advanced warning and no warning lights displayed. Had to pull over to safety and have the vehicle towed to the dealership. The vehicle is inoperable. Dealer offering a $23K replacement of engine which is astronomical.
Engine failed, left us on the road. This engine is under class action lawsuit and recall. Took the car to the Hyundai dealer, they said it failed due to sludge that it wasn't serviced regularly, I produced proof of regular service then the claim was denied due to the lack of a knock sensor recall being performed. I never got a letter regarding the knock sensor recall and the previous owner had moved 3 times during the time they owned the car and had no recollection of getting a notice. So a knock sensor recognizes a knock but it locked up on the side of the road, knock sensor or not the motor would have been junk even if the knock sensor had detected the issue. Regardless the engine would have to be replaced. Also this engine is under recall for being a junk engine to begin with so why is Hyundai denying a claim on an engine that they clearly knew they had an issue with. I thought the point of a recall on an engine was to protect the consumer of future issues with the recalled component so why can they get out of doing what is required by law? Also if they can deny responsibility for a recalled item what is the point of having a recall?
Engine seized. The car just stopped running. No power steering or brakes. Luckily I was o. A residential street driving slow. Otherwise very much a risk of crashing. There were no warning lights. My mechanic said the engine seized and there is a recall. Hyundai should not wait for the engine to stop. Everyone's safety is at risk.
I was driving down the street when the engine suddenly seized up. My wiring caught fire and my starter blew apart. No warning at all
I was driving my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS (Lambda II, V6 3.3L, 104k miles) late at night with my wife, daughter (age 2), and son (age 6 months). No notification lights alerted me to any problems. We missed our turn on the highway and had to drive through a neighborhood with a high crime volume. We stopped at a red light and the engine seized. When the light changed, I tried to start the car, but the engine wouldn't budge. We were stranded in the dark in a dangerous area. I said to my wife, "This is one of the worst places and times for a car to go kaput." Two good samaritans with car knowledge stopped to help. First, they tried charging the battery. No luck. Then they checked the oil. To our surprise, the oil tank was nearly empty (again, no notification lights alerted me, and we never saw leakage). We tried filling it with oil, hoping it might solve the engine seizure. No luck. I had it towed to my family's mechanic. Once he checked it, he immediately realized it needed replacement (once it turned on, it was making knocking sounds). He said a new engine would cost $10k—more than half of the car's value at the time of purchase. I called Hyundai corporate, and they said to bring it to my local dealer to get examined. They checked it and chose not to repair, giving a pretty nondescript reason for denial. They wouldn't give many details; they just said the motor suffered a mechanical failure, showed sludge, and needed to be replaced. They quoted me $9k for a USED engine. Later I learned that countless others have experienced the same problems with this vehicle. I'm preparing paperwork to seek help from higher-level Hyundai mechanics. I will update NHTSA if their response is helpful or not. I believe Hyundai and Kia are in deep water with many GDI engines from the last decade. Countless others have reported similar engine failures; a whole Facebook group documents it (FB search "Engine Failure- Kia/Hyundai"). Here's praying NHTSA swoops in and enforces a recall.
The dealer has confirmed that my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe has an oil consumption issue. This results in the car randomly losing power from the accelerator while driving. You can push the accelerator all the way down to the floor and there is no power in the engine. The car then slows down drastically which results in potential car crashes from behind since there is no warning to the driver or to drivers of other cars. My car started having this issue in July 2021 when it had about 129,000 miles on it. It took Hyundai until late 2022 to determine the issue and deny responsibility for it. The attached documents do not include the multiple times that I had to bring the car in every 1000 miles to check the oil (they didn't document that). They said it would cost me $21,575 to fix the engine which is almost as much as a new car would cost! I have seen many complaints online about this same issue happening with other car owners and I feel that Hyundai should be held responsible for correcting this known safety issue. I was planning to drive this car until 200,000 miles which would be at least another 3-4 years before I had to replace it. At this point I am having to add a quart of oil every 500 miles and hope that the engine doesn't seize up and cause an accident.
I purchased this 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3L V6 with what I think must be the Lambda II engine in 2020 from a Honda Dealership in Louisville Kentucky. Upon purchase, I was not made aware of any recalls, Manufacturer Communications, Investigations, or class action law suits with this model. On May 27, 2021 I took the car in for an oil change and again was not made aware of the above issues. Not enjoying my service experience at that dealership, I took my car in to a Hyundai dealership for an oil change on June 15, 2022 it was reported the engine only had 1 quart of oil. Upon leaving, once again, I was not informed of the above issues with Hyundai, specifically the engine and engine cooling in various models and engines. On October 3, 2022 I took my car into a Good Year for an oil change and was told the car had zero oil. Ironically, Good Year is who told me about the class action law suit regarding the engine and oil issues. They told me to keep checking the oil and adding oil as needed to avoid a problem. 4 days later on October 7, 2022 I was driving on a highway when all of a sudden and without warning my engine blew, my accelerator deactivated and white smoke billowed from under my hood and I could not see. Thankfully I was able to quickly pull over to the side of the highway. I feared the engine was on fire but the smoke eventually cleared. I took pictures underneath the engine (attached) and of the large pool of oil that spilled from the car (attached). The car was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership where they told me the car experienced a catastrophic engine failure and I would need a new engine. I do not have warranty and it appears my model and year are not included in any of the recalls or investigations. However, my car did experience the exact failure and I want my year, model and engine to be included in the investigation, recalls and remediation. I would appreciate a response with advice for next steps. Thank you!
On October 20, 2022 my husband was driving the vehicle traveling around 40mph. He said he noticed that the engine light went on and then it sounded different and the vehicle struggled to accelerate. He quickly pulled into the first parking lot that was available and he parked, turned off the car and went to get out and within seconds, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. Had he waited and kept driving, he probably wouldn't be here today. Thank goodness my baby wasn't in the car. I can't imagine ripping a child out of her carseat while the car is on fire!
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The contact stated that while his father was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine seized and then lost motive power. Additionally, the vehicle made rattling sounds while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer declined the engine replacement due to a lack of oil change records. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 101,128.

The engine began making a strange noise last week. We brought it to the dealer and they reported we had internal engine failure. We took it to another service center for a second opinion and the diagnosis was confirmed. We have been told we need a new engine or an engine rebuild. The vehicle has 110K miles and received routine maintenance since we purchased it in 2014. The vehicle did not produce a check engine light or any other visible signs of engine failure. The only symptom is the engine noise. The vehicle is not safe since it is on the verge of failure at any moment. Hyundai has not offered to help pay for engine repair services. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
My air bags don’t work and the brake system fails. Motor went out recalled and dealership not working on it
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while the vehicle was at standstill to make a left turn, the brake pedal was rigid and the steering wheel seized. The contact stated the Unlock Your Steering Wheel message was illuminated. The contact stated she started to smell and saw smoke exiting from the hood. The contact was able to exit the vehicle safely and shortly after the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A fire report was filed. The contact stated a police officer came to the location of the incident but was not aware if a police report was filed. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle first to towing lot and then to a repair facility. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

Engine failure. No warning lights prior. Car went into limp mode on interstate. Recall 953 was performed on car in 2019. Was never notified prior to purchase of this issue and purchased a $1700.00 extended warranty that the dealership knew I didn't need because car covered under lifetime warranty. Complete nightmare. Dealership has no loaner car to provide me and says up to 3 weeks to finish diagnosis.
Engine failure after 953 recall update. Engine stopped accelerating on highway.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the passenger cabin would fill up with the odor of gasoline. The contact stated an unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure occurred again, with the passenger cabin filling with the odor of gasoline. The vehicle was towed to another dealer who diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure re-occurred and returned the vehicle to the same dealer. The vehicle had been repaired. The contact felt that the fuel line had been damaged due to the first engine replacement repair. The contact researched online and related the fuel line failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V934000 (Engine, Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

I HAVE A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT THAT BURNS AN EXSESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. I DO ALOT OF DRIVING MAYBE AROUND 36 MILES A DAY. EVERY TWO WEEKS ANOTHER OIL CHANGE IS NEEDED. BOUGHT THIS VECHLE IN 2017 WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT THE EVERYTIME I GOES TO JIFFY LUBE IT SHOWS THAT THE ENGINE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACED. THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VECHILE SINCE DAY ONE OF HAVING IT. I NEVER GOTTEN A NOTICE ABOUT THIS INFORMATION. HYUNDAI HAS BEEN CALLED NUMEROUS OF TIMES CONCERNING THIS MATTER. THE ENGINE WAS NEVER REPLACED OIL STILL BURNING REALLY FAST. ITS CAUSING A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY. I DONT THINK ANY OF THE PROBLEMS WERE TAKEN CARE OF.
Engine started to make a knocking noise right at 100k miles. We bought the car used with 78k miles on it and kept up with oil changes and tires. Once we noticed the noise we changed the oil again just to make sure everything was lubricated correctly. There were a lot of metal shavings in the oil and the noise just kept getting louder and louder so we stopped driving it and it has been sitting for about 9 months now and everyone we talk to says that the engine has blown. After looking into it, Hyundai has had many vehicles with this exact issue. This model and year needs to be covered under the engine recall that is for the Santa Fe sports and Sonatas.
Engine blew out while driving through an intersection. Car turned off and could not use the break. Ended up coasting through the intersection. Oil change was performed at Hyundai and no information was given about potential engine failure. No issues with car previously and the check engine light did not turn on. Car still turns on and runs, but now the engine makes a loud noise. No check engine light still.
While driving on the highway, the car started stalling, then a check engine light turned on. When going up hill, and when at a stop sign or stop light, the vehicle fully shut down. On the side of the road, I checked the spark plugs - one was fouled. I replaced the spark plug and the ignition coil but that did not solve the issue. Prior to this, there was excessive oil consumption. I used a quart every 6oo miles. I had the vehicle towed to Healey Hyundai in Beacon, NY where they determined there was no compression in a cylinder and that it was not covered by any existing recall or warranty. I had the issue confirmed by a mechanic shop in Poughkeepsie, NY as well, same conclusion, no compression in a cylinder.
My 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport broke down while driving home on 5/30/2022. No active warning lights at time of incident. Vehicle slowed down while driving on interstate and lost the ability to accelerate. A noise was made (may have been considered knocking). Once parked on the side of the highway, nothing happened when START/STOP button was pressed except random lights across dash (NO WARNING LIGHTS). Vehicle did not appear to be ON. Vehicle had to be towed to local Hyundai dealership. Dealership replaced the starter, performed an engine diagnostics, then parked vehicle on lot. The vehicle caught fire on 6/20/2022 after service tech exited it; considered a total loss. The vehicle was inspected by Hyundai Dealership representative, owner's insurance company, and vendor for Hyundai Motor America. HMA ruled incident as No Root Cause for engine seizing: no fault of workmanship nor manufacturer. In addition, in January 2022, this vehicle went into LIMS mode, no active warning lights were observed, and the same dealership replaced Knock Sensor. The vehicle passed engine diagnostics test.
We were driving at the interstate then all of a sudden it went on a limp mode. Then the check engine light came on. There's also a rod knock as well. We were able to pull on the side or the road. We were like 70 miles away from home so we had to towed my car back to the dealership. They still haven't diagnosed it. They said it would take 2-3 months before they could take a look at it. But I believe it was under the warranty under the Campaign 953 for Hyundai. They cant provide a loaner or even a rental car for me. Im out of car for the next 2 to 3 months and may affect my job. This is very frustrating. I only had 71000 miles on it.
We were driving in the highway and all of a sudden the engine started making a loud knocking noise. After safely pulling over, we checked the oil and there was none. There was no low oil light indicating a problem as well as no oil leaks or smoke. The oil just disappeared. We were lucky to get off the highway before the engine seized. The dealership confirmed the engine is blown and needs a replacement. The cost is $17,000 but Hyundai will only cover 50%. We are going the cut our losses and get a new car instead of repairing. To me this is a factory defect that should have been covered event though it’s beyond the warranty: we have service records showing an oil change every 5,000 miles. We are the original owner.
Driving on interstate when car went into limp mode and started ticking and knocking. Again. Flashing engine light. P1326 knock sensor code, again. Another $250 for towing to dealership and life without a car again As a single mom of a disabled child
When entering a busy intersection, the car seized with no power and would not restart.
On June 1, 2022, the vehicle was towed into the dealership. Customer complained it stopped while running and wouldn't start. Initial engine Dx was completed. The battery and starter were replaced. Upon replacing both, the engine started, but was making a "clicking" sound. On June 20, 2022, another engine Dx was performed. Dx revealed DTC P1326 - Knock Signal Range/Performance and DTC B1688 - Cluster Ionizer Fault. Engine was under an extended warranty. Given known engine issues with these vehicles, Dealership planned to request Hyundai replace the customer's engine. Customer was the original owner and routinely serviced vehicle at the dealership. The vehicle was moved to the back of the storage lot. Several minutes after parking same, they observed smoke coming from the engine compartment. Three fire extinguishers were used in an effort to suppress the engine fire. The Fire Dept. was ultimately called to extinguish the blaze.
While driving to an appointment on 6/16/22, i went to pass someone in the left lane. I was able to accelerate enough to pass the vehicle. After that, my vehicle lost power and I was able to coast to the side of the road safely. I was stuck on the side of the road for a few hours and was finally able to be rescued. Got the car home, took it to the local maintenance shop where they couldnt find anything wrong with it. I got my car back the next day, only to have the engine start a tick noise in the engine. I checked the oil level and it was below the L on the dipstick. No low oil light or check engine light ever came on. I put 2 quarts of oil in. Started the car up to now have a loud knocking noise when i accelerate. Since this just happened over the weekend, i havent made it to a shop to have the car inspected.
The engine began to knock when accelerating from stop signs and green lights then engine quit entirely. Check engine light came on but did not flash. Vehicle was towed to Hyundai dealer service department. Service department says engine needs to be replaced. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THE MANUFACTURER HONOR THE WARRANTY DESPITE IT BEING EXPIRED.
We were not advised that the vehicle was burning oil when serviced and there were no signs of leakage in the garage where kept. On an extended road trip the engine began to make a rattling noise that got worse as we drove. I stopped at an automotive store and checked the oil just to be surprised that no oil was in the engine. Again, no external damage or leaks. I serviced the vehicle with oil and continued driving home. On the interstate in traffic the vehicle stalled and I coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. The engine would not turn over and we had to be towed. Hyundai says they don't have parts to fix the vehicle, but that when they do it will cost $14,000 to replace the engine. This engine model needs to be put on re-call just like the other engines that Hyundai has been penalized for bad and unsafe engineering.
A worn connecting rod bearing which produced a knocking noise from the engine and engine warning light. Engine had 80 thousand miles with routine oil changes using 100% synthetic oil
Bearing wearing that resulted in engine seizing. The vehicle started to make an engine noise without any light bulb on the dash or any signal of damage or oil leak. Due to the increment in noise I opted to stop the vehicle and tow it to the Hyundai dealer. Consumer's vehicle (2014 Santa Fe xl) started to sound bad out of nowhere on December 2021 and decided to stop it and take it to the Hyundai. The vehicle never light any bulb or lack any power, just the noise. Consumer was told by Hyundai engine needed replacement but they won’t cover because consumer is the second owner. The vehicle have 97,000 miles and all the oil changes had been made according to the recommended time by the manufacturer. There is a recall due to the same issues for the Santa Fe sport but consumer's wasn't included.
I was driving to pickup my dog from daycare centre and when I arrive to house, put my car in Park then a huge amount of smoke came out from the front hood of car. The smoke got bigger and bigger within 30 seconds I couldn't see anything from front of car and around driver's seat. There was no Hazard alerts or signs on my car that my car was overheating. There was no signal or emergency shut off on the car when the overheating began. My boyfriend was in car at time. My dog was walking outside with daycare caretaker when a flame started on Driver's side engine. The flame lit and sparked into a huge flame. I ran out of car while my boyfriend yelled for everyone to back away from car before it explodes. The flame grew and engine bursted into flames, a loud explosion followed. I did not have any time to even gather what was going on before my eyes, I was trembling in shock and could not speak clearly. Immediately, I called police to come put out the fire. The fire department was transferred into my phone call. I was able to give address and they arrived on scene within 3-4 minutes. Fire department put out the flames with a water hose. The car was completely damaged, falling apart into pieces, front hood was on fire to the back seats, doors were on fire, steering wheel was gone, entire front dashboard and chairs were melted and gone in pieces. I started feeling sick and overwhelming stressed.
At highway speed during moving to exit ramp car stalled and luckily coasted to safety without an accident but was very scary and could have ended badly. Restarted car and all seems to be working fine currently but worried it will happen again, this is the first time. No engine codes and had it checked with a odb2 scanner.
While driving on the MA Route 90 on April 29, 2022, the vehicle stopped accelerating and became unsafe drive. I brought the car to Midas and was told that the car needed a new engine. I contacted a Hyundai dealer and was told that they could not look at the car as they had over a hundred Hyundai engines to replace. Prior to this incident, there were no warning lights or messages. I have learned that there seems to be significant problems with many Hyundai models. I believe this was extremely dangerous as the car would not accelerate whileI was in the fastlane of the highway.
While driving on the interstate the engine completely seized. I managed to quickly get to the side of the road by coasting. I was traveling in the left passing lane at a speed of 65-70 mph and had to cut into the right lane in order to safely make it to the side of the road. Luckily I did not have any of my three children in the car with me. Prior to this, there were no waring lights, i.e. check engine, low oil etc. and no signs of any oil leaks, no smell of burning oil and no blue smoke from the exhaust. The independent service center confirmed that the engine did not have any oil in it causing the seizure and ultimately blowing the engine. I take the vehicle in for regular maintenance for oil changes, tire rotations etc. as well as having it inspected per state emissions requirements.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact attempted to start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact attempted to have AAA jumpstart vehicle however, the engine failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Mileage: 98,000
On 4/17/22, The car quit running on an interstate Highway off ramp merging lane, with three passengers. Driver was able to coast to the berm. This could have been a lot worse under different circumstances. UNKNOWN No recollection of check engine light prior to failure but did come on at failure. On Fri, Apr 22, 2022 at 7:43 AM, Service Consultant from Hyundai Dealership wrote : "It is a connecting rod bearing failure in the engine". Hyundai's response to recall or warranty inquiry: "They are saying that it is out of the warranty by the mileage. They had warranty extensions on the 2.0 turbo and the 2.4 engines. The 3.3L V6 did not fall under those".
Our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe although not included in the NHTSA Campaign 17V226000, shows identical signs of engine failure. The vehicle showed no signs of excessive oil consumption nor engine damage previous to failure. After a 265 mile trip the vehicle began making an odd rattling noise and grinding. I thought possibly a transmission problem or power steering. The following day we departed for the 265 mile trip home. After 10 minutes driving the knocking noise was loud and worrisome. I stopped at an auto parts store to look the vehicle over. We had no warning lights or dash indication of a problem. I looked the engine over and the underside of the vehicle. No leaks and no obvious signs of a problem. I checked the oil and the indicator was dry. I opened the oil service cap. A burnt smell and steam or smoke rose out of the opening. I bought 4 quarts of synthetic oil and serviced the vehicle. The loud noise remained and it appeared not to help the vehicle. We had no option 245 miles from home, so I continued on the interstate and 20 miles later the engine quit while driving at 70mph. I exited the lane as safely as possible. The engine would not turn over, stranding us on the side of the interstate in a rural area. We had the vehicle towed to Jenkins Hyundai, Jacksonville FL. After diagnostics they advised us the engine seized. Due to the nature of supply parts available, the engine replacement was estimated at $14000. This basically totals the vehicle. The sales department offered us $100 to take it off our hands. Unbelievable. This engine failure is typical of the faulty manufacturing Hyundai previously settled for after so many incidents. Again, we had no indications of a pending failure other than noise and within 40 miles of the noise starting the engine seized.
The engine seized while driving. It occurred while exiting a highway on the off ramp and the vehicle was safely removed from the road. Engine seizure was confirmed by inspection by a mechanic. It is available for inspection. No warning lamps or messages were received prior to the incident.
I purchased a used 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe in 2020 which had 60,000 miles on it and in fairly good condition. In November 2021 I was driving on the highway going around 65 mph and the engine suddenly died and I was unable to continue accelerating. I was barely able to swerve into the breakdown down without getting in an accident however it was a very dangerous and stressful situation to be in. I took the vehicle to a dealership and they said the entire engine needs to be replaced which will cost roughly $7500. I believe a recall is definitely needed on the 2014 Hyundai because they have engine issues just like prior models had, which were recalled. I checked the National Highway Traffic Safety incident database and found many other people had this same engine issue with the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. These models are very unsafe and could potentially cause serious problems for other drivers.
My car have a bad engine noise
Driving on interstate felt car stall pulled to side of the road placed in park. Looked under hood noticed car hot checked oil and was completely dry. I know for a fact there had not been any leakage prior that was on the ground where I parked and none under where I pulled off road. Not one check engine light or low oil light had came on prior or during the time of the car stalling. Called tow truck to have it taken to dealership where they turned it back on after I advised of issue and that it shouldn't be turned on they said they had to to know what it was doing and the engine at that point was making loud knocking noise. I was told engine would have to be replaced. I was told I'm not the only one that has had this issue with this model car but there is no recall so it would be out of my pocket even though there is a "known issue". This was dangerous as it stalled in middle of interstate and left me stranded. Also, I got regular oil changes and was actually on my way to appt to have oil changed and never had been told that I was leaking or ever low on oil by dealership either. If looked up the known issue is with oil consumption. Dealership still cannot explain where yhe oil leaked from or went to.
While driving on a highway at around 40-45 mph my car stalled and came to a stop without warning. No dash lights lit up, no noises, no smoke. Car will not start back up. Mechanic said that it was not spark plugs or lack of maintenance. It seems like there is currently a recall for 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sports but my vin number doesn’t fall in the recall batch.
Our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's engine seized and shut down in traffic Saturday night, 3/11/22, while my family and I were out grabbing food. We barely made it into a parking lot before it stopped moving. We got it towed to our regular repair shop. After inspecting it early in the week, they told us the engine had seized and was dead and that we should contact the service center at the dealership. We get regular maintenance, and there was no prior warning. Looking online, there is a recall on "some" 2013-2014 Santa Fe Sport's for the engine - "...there have been instances of stalling, meaning the engine may stop running while the vehicle is being driven." is just part of the recall info. Somehow our vin number isn't on this list. I'm asking for the recall to open up to more vin numbers.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle had previously been serviced for a transmission replacement. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a ticking sound was heard and there was oil leaking onto the engine and driveway. Additionally, there was a hole in the timing chain cover and there were two bent bolts that had detached from the timing belt cover. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed with engine failure. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not covered under warranty since the contact had not had an oil change performed prior to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the failure may be related to Manufacturer Campaign Number: 194. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Mileage: 80,000
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while her husband driving 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to restart the vehicle and drive back to the residence. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated on another occasion, while her husband was driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle again to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

On 2/10/22 I was driving on a busy highway during rush hour about 60 miles per hour and my car began to loose power. I was able to cruise to the shoulder safely. I turned it off and it immediately restarted and ran with no problem. A few days later it stopped again while I was on another highway and I was able to get to an exit and to a safe location. Ultimately, after trying to restart, it failed altogether and had to be towed by AAA to Hyundai. My vehicle is serviced regularly and I've never had warning signs come on other than the the two times when the call stalled, and at that point, every light in the car was blinking. Hyundai would not give me a firm date for diagnosis. They said that they were backed up and estimated a repair even after diagnosis, would be well into March 2022. By the way, my car was dropped off on Feb 12, 2022! I requested a loaner and they told me they did not have one available. I had the car towed to an independent mechanic and I was told that the engine needed to be replaced.
Driving vehicle on freeway, loud knocking noise started under hood. Warning lights started to flash and engine died and I guided car to shoulder.
Driving Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3 Limited with two toddlers down in moderate/heavy traffic with speeds 35-50 MPH when started to hear ticking/knocking noise coming from engine. Noise continued to increase with corresponding decrease in drivability (decreased acceleration & vibrations from engine). Had vehicle towed to Hyundai Dealer for inspection. Dealer has advised that engine has premature engine wear as a result of rod knock and damaged rings causing engine failure. Dealership stated a new engine will cost $12k because we are the second owner. Vehicle had no check engine light, no oil pressure or low oil warning lights and had no OBDII error codes. No prior indication of imminent engine failure. Engine was not listed in current recalls. Approximate failure mileage at 93k.
I was driving on the interstate going around 65 mph on the highway. The vehicle stopped accelerating and I had to swerve into the breakdown lane, lucky that I was not hit by other cars. I turned the vehicle off for a few minutes and then tried to restart it but the vehicle made loud noises and started smoking so I turned it off. I had it towed to a dealership and they said it would need an engine replacement. I only had the vehicle for one year and it was in good condition.
Total engine failure while driving, 1000 miles after a clean bill of health and some work done at licensed hyundai dealership. Both hyundai local and corporate pointed fingers and blamed but no accountability. Dealership quoted 14k for install of used engine. Local engine shop said these engines fail shortly after 100k miles and he sees them more frequently than any other brand. The problem is the engine design, and it's inability to properly lubricate itself under real world driving conditions.
On December 31, 2021, at approximately 12:30pm CST, I was driving my fathers 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe down I-94 in Michigan City/ LaPorte area of Indiana. In the vehicle was my father, my wife and my brother. I was driving at approximately 70-75 mph and I started hearing a rattling noise when I accelerated. It sounded as if the vehicle had a loose heat shield on the exhaust, so I didn't think too much of it. About 45-60 seconds after that, all the dash lights came on and I pulled off to the side of the highway. I turned the vehicle off and waited about 30 seconds and tried to start it back up, which it did not do. I then noticed smoke coming from under the hood, so I told everyone to get out of the vehicle and I popped the hood latch. I opened the hood and tried to determine where the smoke was coming from, however it was coming from under other parts in the engine, so I could determine what exactly was smoking. I then saw a flame. I told everyone to get back and I immediately called 911. Within 10-15 minutes, a firefighter pulled up in a pick-up truck. He assessed the situation and spoke with my father. Ten minutes after that, other firefighters showed up with an engine and extinguished the fire. By that time though, the fire had completely engulfed the entire front end of the vehicle. We spoke with the police officers after a short wait, a tow truck came and picked up the vehicle and we were picked up by other family members.
Driving vehicle on Interstate at 65 mph. With no warning, dashboard lights, or anything, engine just shut down. Heard banging when trying to restart, shut car off. Checked oil, not a drop in engine. Dealer says engine "threw a rod", says it will be $15,000 to replace. Hyundai said they'll pay $7,500 and want me to pay $7,500. After doing some research, I see that this is a recurring problem on this vehicle. I feel that Hyundai should replace engine since this has happened to a lot of these cars according to the many forums about Hyundai. Any help would be appreciated.
Car has been taking care of and routinely serviced. One day it was sluggish and two days later the engine light came on. Immediately took to mechanic who said engine oil was black (routine and timely oil changes). Changed oil and new spark plugs. Car was not any better. Took to dealership who said engine is 5 degrees off and needs a new engine for 15k!!! Car only has 112k miles on it and is in perfect condition. Took it to another mechanic and he stated the pin was broken in the camshaft causing the degree timing issue. This seems to be a recurring issue with this car and is unacceptable to pay that much for a car, take good care of it, and have the engine die and be quoted 15k to repair.
The engine just started making cracking sounds Hyundai dealer ran a diagnostic and said the verified concern found that the engine had internal failure is in need of a replacement connecting rod bearings has failed vehicle on the verge of seizing metal on oil filter paper edge appears to be heavily grudge leaking with oil cap needs to replace engine to correct the concern.
Vehicle stopped on highway while driving. To,d it was the cam shaft sensor. Upon research and further review there are hundreds of complaints about the cam shaft and system.
Car started making noise and suddenly stopped in the middle of driving. Passengers Including kids were in the car. Car was towed and told that it's engine failure possibly the rod connecting to engine is defected. I was also told car could have caught fire if we had kept driving it. Car was always kept upto date on maintenance at hyundai dealer. No issues were reported with the car at maintenance.
About 4 weeks ago I was driving about 50 mph and slowed to take a right turn, when accelerating out of the turn I had no power, but the engine was still running fine. I could get up to about 40 mph when I pressed the accelerator all the way to the floor and held it there. I immediately turned around and went to the Hyundai dealership that was just a mile away. The problem was diagnosed as needing a new transmission as first gear was completely gone. We asked the dealership to diagnose any additional problems and they said there were no other issues with the car. The part was ordered and the car sat for 3 weeks at the dealership. Upon being notified the work was done on the replacement transmission we were told that during the final test drive by the technician that the engine had very loud knocking sounds. We were told that a new engine was needed. We are not sure if there is negligence on the part of the dealership service dept. or if there is something else going on. We noticed several other recent issues about this similar engine failures on the NHTSA website and wanted to report this as well. Current mileage is 176,000.
Engine died, luckily at light at a stop, and not on a freeway. Would not start after. No warning lights before or after. Dealership states seized engine. Facebook group posts suggests multiple of these happening on years 2013-2017. Dealership servicing vehicle is Hertrich Hyundai of New Castle, Delaware.
Driving Hyundai Santa Fe down I-95 in moderate/heavy traffic with speeds 35-50 MPH when started to hear ticking/knocking noise coming from engine. Turned off radio & AC to better hear/monitor sound. Noise continued to increase with corresponding decrease in drivability (decreased acceleration & vibrations from engine). Managed to get to closest exit (about 2-2.5 miles) exited highway and parked vehicle. Had vehicle towed to Hyundai Dealer for inspection. Dealer has advised that engine has premature engine wear as a result of rod knock and damaged rings causing engine failure. Vehicle had no check engine light, no oil pressure or low oil warning lights and had no OBDII error codes. No prior indication of imminent engine failure.
The Turbo failed and is not functional. I took the car in and found out that it needed to be replaced. They stated they would replace it but it would take a while since the turbo is currently on back order. I called every dealer in town to find out that the all had cars needed this part and that it would be a while before they get the part. One dealership advice me that he had a car since January. I think an investigation in regards to this matter is warranted. We felt something weird when we took it for an oil change. Weeks later when we went over the 100,000 mile mark, the check engine light turned on. We took it in right away.
Was driving down the freeway in cruise control when I heard a knocking noise. Soon after, the RPM jumped from 2 to 6 and smoke came out the exhaust. I pulled over immediately, and oil was all over the ground. Towed it back to service shop, and there are 2 holes in the engine. Had car inspected by state, and they said this was in relation to the recall 17V226000: bearing wear may result in engine seizure. No warning lights ever came on.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while driving approximately 60-65 MPH, she heard abnormal knocking sounds coming from the engine and an abnormal popping sound coming from underneath the passenger’s side of the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated as she continued to drive, the vehicle started shuddering and stalled. The check engine warning light and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated she was able to restart the vehicle and drive, but the vehicle would not shift into 3rd gear. The contact stated as she was veering to the side of the road, the engine threw a rod. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

Engine burned oil faster than it should and was out of oil. Oil change April 20, 2021 and out of oil on July 28, 2021 and not due for oil change for another approx 1K miles. Our safety was at risk because I was driving the car and it died in the middle of the road without warning with 2 small kids in the car, I’m 7 months pregnant, and 95 degrees outside. Car towed to local auto repair service that does my routine car service needs. The car has not been inspected by anyone other than local auto repair shop at this time. I’ve called dealership of where car was purchased. I’ve also contacted Hyundai and told that a case manager will contact me in the next 2 weeks. No warning lights were on until the car died while driving it.
At highway speeds going through the mountains, the engine began to lose power and then began to shake. One or more cylinders began to misfire while climbing a hill with many other cars and trucks in the slower lane to avoid. The engine light was flickering and depending on the position of the accelerator would go on and off. The car began shaking rather violently, but I couldn't pull over so others needed to avoid me. I coasted down a hill and made it off an exit ramp. Then engine had no power at this point and was still shaking. I checked the oil and found it had burned nearly 1 qt. in 100 miles. I noticed nearly all the oil was gone on the prior oil change and thought the mechanic had not put enough in. I now think there is something dangerously wrong with these engines consuming oil. The engine light has been coming on for a while and the dealerships or others I had read the codes normally indicated cylinder 3 contribution. This was never solved as it would come back on after a few months from having it worked on. The dealership still has the car and stated that cylinder 1, 3, & 4 had misfire codes and that 1& 3 plugs were coated in oil. After cleaning the engine and doing compression tests it appears the engine is destroyed. I'm glad the engine didn't lock up and I can only image what would have happened had I been able to continue on that trip and it consumed all its oil while driving. A locked up engine may have resulted in a fire or wreck as the loss of power on a mountain nearly did.
2014 Sante Fe Limited. 109,000 miles. Original owner. Bought brand-new from dealership. Done all the maintenance on time and as recommended by manufacturer. Right before last oil change (which was only less than 500 miles over) knocking noise started. Oil change done and nothing was reported as being a problem. Knocking continued. Drove to dealership and they said they could not look at the car until a week later. I said ok I will bring the car back and they said I should not drive car since it sounded like it was a bearing rod failure. Later that week I was told that it was a "lower bearing failure" and that a new engine would be needed to which I was used for a used engine $11,292.49. This amount is a little more than the car is worth. I was told that the current recall for this same issue is only for the Sante Fe Sport which is a the 4 cylinder engine and the Limited is v6. I told the service department that this is the exact same thing as the other recall for the sport model and I don't understand why it isn't covered also for the v6. I called on 7/6 to Hyundai Corp to start a claim on getting the engine paid for. They said it could take up to 10 working days. On 7/22 (12th working day) I called in to Hyundai Corp and was told I should be getting a call the next day from the case manager. I received an email 7/23 that a case manager has not been assigned but should be shortly. I replied back to that email saying that is not acceptable. 7/26 AM called Hyundai again and still no case manager. Alert has been put on the case to get a case manager to look at it soon. Sent a followup email documenting what was said. 7/27AM called Hyunda again and still no case manager and nothing that department can do. I asked for a manager or someone at the national team contact info but Hyundai would not provide it to me. Sent a followup email documenting what was said. Thankful that I wasn't in an accident with my two young kids.
The pistons started popping and then car wouldn't start anymore. Hyundai wouldn't help with anything even thought there are less than 100,000 miles on the car because I am the second owner. There is a recall for this year but on 4 cylinder engine but mine is a 6 cylinder. I find it really hard to believe this is not related to their recall.
[XXX] and is leasing the car. We received a notice of 8:18-cv-02223. I called the dealer for help. They promise to return my called to book a appointment .They never contacted me to fix the issue. The same week my fiancé was helping my sister move in Baltimore. When she returning home the car turned off in the meddle of the hi way. Other car where close to hit her. That when shecalled 911. When they arrived they notice she was few asthma attack to the situation. They where nice to ask me to wait inside of they state car. I was in the car for few minutes. When a officer came over to do the report. He asked for my documentation when suddenly she hurt a big impact in the officer car.Shewas having intense headache. She was transfer to the nearest emergency room. The incident is causing a-lot financial and health issues. One of the those issue is the car. The has done some repair but dint replace all parts. Now the car is having a house calling system leaking. We got in contact with the dealer. They dint offer solution but more problem. Hyuandi recalled Santa Fe 2.4L engines. Ignoring and refuses to acknowledge many 3.3L Santa Fe’s SAME engine failures as they have had lawsuits over. I’m reaching out AGAIN demanding investigations EVERY FAILED ENGINE REPORTED. Denying accountability For the safety of their customers! My engine blew driving onI-40 interstate. I was accelerating to pass a vehicle. During my attempted acceleration I lost all petal pressure and my foot went to the floor. The RPM’s spiked up 5-6k. the oil pressure escalated rapidly. My car seemingly stalled out. Losing ability to keep moving. What looked like steam coming out of the passenger side front wheel well. Assumed that was from a liquid hitting the hot brakes. After sitting for a few moments, I attempted to restart the vehicle. turning it off & it never came back on. Following failure to start back up. I checked the oil level. ALARMINGLY- it was completely dry. While inspecting the car on the side of the busiest highway! there was no large apparent leaks, where the oil would’ve run out. This is a direct display of the motor burning the oil over time. The Hyuandi dealership is responsible for the maintenance and my cars inability to run. As the oil’s mysterious disappearance is from a malfunction in the engine. the REASON my car ran out of oil. MONTHS prior to its mysterious disappearance the oil was changed & NO concerns of malfunction or failure to run, we’re reported after my maintenance by the SAME dealership who blames me. Denying the truth. Blaming me for “lack of servicing” the vehicle they serviced AND WAS NOT DUE OF ONE. Hyuandi’s ignoring their engine problem. Putting their customers and many other drivers lives AT RISK. and I’m highly disappointed in the service from both hyuandi, all dealerships, and the refusal to acknowledge THEIR responsibility for ME NO LONGER HAVING A RUNNING VEHICLE. Not offering a replacement engine. Expecting ME to drop $6,000.00 which is half the price of my cars value. I WANT ANSWERS!!!!!!!
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shut-off without warning. The contact had the vehicle towed to her residence and anticipated that her vehicle would be included in a class-action lawsuit. The contact then had the vehicle towed to the dealer. After inspection, the contact was informed that metal shavings were found in the engine. Due to the failure, the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that contact that there were no recalls on the Vin. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

There is a known issue with the GDI engines that is causing an oil consumption issue. Hyundai is aware and is not willing to cover the cost for what they say may fix the issue of the vehicle is out of warranty. It is affecting many vehicles and the dealerships are passing it off to Hyundai and Hyundai is stating it should be covered under engine warranty and it is not.
MY 2014 HYUANDI SANTA FE ENGINE MYSTERIOUSLY BLEW AFTER BURNING ALL MY OIL. NO WARNING SIGNS, LIGHTS, AND 3 MONTHS PRIOR JUST GOT SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP. OIL CHANGED. NO MENTION OF MY ENGINE BURNING MY OIL. HOWEVER, ONE MONTH AGO DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY. MY CAR MADE A STRANGE PULL. IT DIDNT FEEL GOOD. FOR PRECAUTION I PULLED OVER. MY TIRES WERE STEAMING LOOKING LIKE SMOKE. MY CAR STOPPED RUNNING COMPLETELY AND WOULDNT START AGAIN. MY CAR SHOWED NO PROBLEM, NO SIGN, NO WARNING AND NEVER BEEN LATE ON A SERVICE DUE. THE FEW MILES OVER I WAS ON MY FIRST SERVICE- IS NO EXCUSE FOR MY OIL BEING EMPTY. HAVING BEEN SERVICED JUST 3 MONTHS PRIOR, AND ONLY A FEW MILES OVER MY SERVICE DATE. MY ENGINE BLEW. BURNING ALL MY OIL. AND NO SIGN, AND WARNINGS FROM MY CAR. BESIDES MY ENTIRE CAR SHUTTING DOWN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. MY ENGINE WAS RECALLED, BUT CASE CLOSED IN 2017. MY DEALERSHIP WONT COVER MY ENGINE. AND IM FURIOUS. WHAT AMOUNT OF MONEY THIS CAR HAS BEEN, ONE MONTH IN THE SHOP, NO RENTAL CAR GIVEN FOR TRANSPORTATION, HYUANDI DO BETTER!!!!!!

I PULLED OUT IN MY VEHICLE FROM A CROSS-STREET ONTO A BUSY MAIN HIGHWAY AND AFTER ABOUT 15 OR 20 YARDS, THE CAR ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS WARNING OR SIGNS. I TOWED TO HYUNDAI DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAPPENED. ONLY KNOWING THE MODEL AND YEAR, THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS LIKELY CAUSED BY THE SAME ISSUE AS DOZENS OF VEHICLES THEY HAD ON THE LOT OR ALREADY FIXED. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE KNOWN BY HYUNDAI, THE GOVERNMENT (VIA EXISTING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT), YET THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OR PROVIDED A SAFETY RECALL. I WAS AT GREAT RISK STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY UNTIL A SHERIFF DEPUTY PASSING BY ASSISTED.

ON TWO OCCASIONS OUR CAR STALLED ON A BUSY FREEWAY WHICH CAUSED US TO ONCE COAST OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. ON SECOND OCCASION, CAR STALLED WHILE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF HWY 36 IN STILLWATER MN. CAR EVENTUALLY STARTED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. CAR STARTED TO HESITATE AND A KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD. BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A OIL MAINTENANCE ISSUE WHICH WAS NOT TRUE AS WE PERFORMED OIL CHANGES WHEN INSTRUCTED.

WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 70-75 MPH I STARTED TO HEAR A KNOCKING SOUND, I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND THE NOISE CONTINUED EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED. THERE WERE NO DASH LIGHTS DISPLAYED THE ENTIRE TIME. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A BANG AND HAD COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE OIL WAS CHANGED WITHIN THE LAST THREE MONTHS AND IM PRETTY SURE THE ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED. THE DEALERSHIP IS INVESTIGATING AND TURNS OUT THAT MY CAR IS UNDER RECALL, SO HOPEFULLY THEY WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE AT MANUFACTURER COST.

DIED DRIVING HOME HAD IT TOWED TO HYUNDAI GOT A CALL TODAY AND A BEARING SCREWED UP AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP ...CURIOUS TO KNOW IF IT'S JUST MY LUCK OR IF THERE WERE OTHER SANTA FAILS LIKE MINE...COME TO FIND OUT OPEN RECALLS ON 2014 SANTA FE SPORTS BUT NO SUCH LUCK WITH THE LIMITED.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2016 AND RECEIVED FREE OIL CHANGES THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM. I NOTICED THAT IN BETWEEN THE RECOMMENDED 7500 MILE OIL CHANGES THAT I HAD TO ADD OIL OR GET ANOTHER OIL CHANGE PRIOR TO THE RECOMMENDED TIME FRAME AS IT SEEMED TO BURN OIL. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS AGO BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH WERE ON. JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AND CHECKED THE OIL AGAIN AND IT WAS LOW SO I ADDED 4 QUARTS. I THEN NOTICED A KNOCKING SOUND THE NEXT TIME I DROVE IT AND TOOK IT RIGHT TO A SHOP DOWN THE STREET. THEY SAID IF WAS A BAD BEARING AND THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE! IT HAS 130,000 MILES AND THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD IS THIS OIL/ENGINE ISSUE. I OWE $7000 AND AN ENGINE WILL COST $5000 PLUS LABOR. WHY ARE THE ENGINES FAILING ON THE 2014 SANTE FE'S??? I WOULD DEFINITELY LIKE ANSWERS.

I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND OUT OF NOWHER, HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. NO ENGINE LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. HE THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE TO NEED A NEW ENGINE AT ONLY 53K MILES, SO HE SAID I SHOULD CHECK WITH THE DEALER FOR ANY DEFECTS. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THE NOISE WAS CAUSED BY ROD BEARINGS BEING PREMATURELY WORN AND IT IN FACT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. WE HAD ALWAYS TAKEN IT FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND CONFIRMED THIS WITH RECEIPTS. THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL OF THIS ENGINE PROBLEM OF THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE BUT OUR SUV WAS A LIMITED AND ONLY THE SPORT MODEL WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHECK WITH HYUNDAI TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER IT CONSIDERING THE RECENT ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR OF CAR. THEY CAME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD ONLY COVER A PORTION OF IT AND WANTED US TO PAY $3300. WE ARE NOW CHECKING WITH ANOTHER DEALER AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER A WEEK. IT SEEMS CRAZY THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

MY CAR IS ROD KNOCKING. I TOOK IT UP TO HYUNDAI AND THEY COMFIRMED IT. RO 6034121. I HAD FOUND A RECALL RELATED TO THE 3.3 ENGINE STATEING THAT THERE COULD BE PREMATURER BEARING FALIURE. IT STATED AN ERROR IN MANFATURING UP UNTIL MAY 2014. MY CAR WAS MANAFATURED BY JANUARY 14 2014. I WAS DELIVERING PIZZA ON A SATURDAY NIGHT WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE I STARTED TO HEAR IT KNOCK. AFTER I HAD FINISHED THE DELIVERY I WENT BACK TO THE STOOR AND CALLED A MECHANIC TO LOOK AT IT AND COMFIRMED IT WAS KNOCKING.SERVICE HAVE ALL BEEN KEPT UP. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER THE RECALLS BAD BATCH LIST BUT IT IS HAVEING ALL THE ISSUES RELATEDE TO THE RECALL. DURING MY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE ON JANUARY 16,2021 I'VE LEARNED THAT CAR ENGINE BURNS OIL. ACCORDING TO TECHNICIAN, INSTEAD OF 5 QUARTS ONLY 1.5 WAS DRAINED PLUS HE SHOWED ME SOOT DEPOSITS ON EXHAUST PIPE, WHICH IS INDICATIVE OF OIL BURNING. HE MENTIONED THAT THIS CONDITION IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, BECAUSE WHEN ENGINE IS OUT OF OIL DAMAGE AN OCCUR. CAR DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF MILEAGE ON IT, SO IM WONDERING WHY GIVEN ISSUE EXISTS AND IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS REGARDING IT. THANK YOU!

WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND STEPPED ON THE GAS, THE CAR MOVED INITIALLY AND THEN STOPPED ACCELERATING. IT SPUTTERED ALONG, SLOWLY ACCELERATING A LITTLE BIT AT A TIME. THIS HAPPENED FOR THE REST OF THE RIDE HOME. THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO WAS FLASHING THIS ENTIRE TIME.

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER20V520000 - HYUNDAI CONTACTED US WITH A NOTICE ABOUT THE RECALL AND THE RISK THAT OUR CAR MAY BURST INTO FLAMES WHILE DRIVING, HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT OFFERING TO FIX THE ISSUE. IN THE NOTICE THEY SIMPLY SAY THERE IS NO SOLUTION, SO PLEASE PARK YOUR CAR OUTSIDE AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE IN CASE IT CATCHES FIRE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO LEAVE THIS ISSUE UNADDRESSED. I AM LOOKING INTO PURCHASING A NEW CAR BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE PUTTING MY FAMILY IN MY CURRENT CAR. HYUNDAI DID NOT OFFER ANY SOLUTIONS AT ALL, NOT TO FIX, REPLACE, OR REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE.
11/21/2020 AROUND 12 PM WE WERE PULLING OUT ON TO THE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY SATURDAY TRAFFIC IN BETWEEN ROSWELL AND NORCROSS. AS WE WERE ACCELERATING TO GET ONTO THE ROAD THE ENGINE SEIZED AND WE COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO RESPOND. THE PEDAL WAS BEING PUSHED TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND. THERE WERE NO DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS OR ANY LOUD ENGINE NOISES TO SAY THERE WAS AN ISSUE. NO SMOKE OR STEAM. WE WERE ABLE TO DIRECT THE CAR ONTO A SIDE STREET BUT THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDE STREET. THE CAR ELECTRONICS STARTED GOING CRAZY, THE NAVIGATION SCREEN AND INTERIOR LIGHTS KEPT TURNING THEMSELVES ON AND OFF LIKE IT WAS A COMPUTER REBOOTING. WE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR.. I LET THE CAR REST FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON SO WE COULD GET IT IN TO A SAFER POSITION AND GET HELP BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T RESTART. WE EVEN TRIED USING THE BATTERY JUMPER BOX TO TRY TO GET IT RESTARTED BUT IT WOULDN'T RESPOND. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS CAR HAS A THETA GDI ENGINE THAT IS CURRENTLY PART OF A RECALL BUT WHEN I LOOK UP MY VIN THE RECALL DOESN'T SHOW UP.

WAS DRIVING MY 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE IT STARTED KNOCKING LOUDLY, TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR IT HAD 146K ON IT. REPLACED THE MOTOR WITH A BRAND NEW MOTOR WITH ONLY 7 MILES ON IT 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED, KNOCKING NOISE AND MOTOR SEIZING UP. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE HYUNDAI MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE THE 2014 SANTE FE LIKE THEY DID THE SONOTA'S AND SANTE FE SPORTS CAUSE THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS!

ENGINE HAS AROUND 89K MILES. BEGAN WITH A KNOCKING NOISE AND AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE ADVISED IT "NEEDED A NEW ENGINE." DEALER WAS NOT SPECIFIC AS TO WHAT EXACTLY THE ISSUE WAS, BUT I BELIEVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT AFFECTED THE HYUNDAI SONATA AND SANTA FE SPORT IS ALSO AFFECTING THIS VEHICLE. BECAUSE WE ARE THE SECOND OWNERS, HYUNDAI HAS REFUSED TO PROVIDE US ANY ASSISTANCE. AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, WE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE TO ANOTHER COMPANY'S DEALERSHIP TO INITIATE A TRADE IN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE DEGRADED IN POWER AND DIED ON THE BUSY ROADWAY JUST OFF THE INTERSTATE OFF RAMP. MY WIFE HAD TO PUSH THE SANTA FE USING MY CAR TO GET IT OFF THE ROADWAY TO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT. THE ENGINE DOES NOW TURN ON, BUT ANYTIME IT IS PUT IN GEAR IT DIES. ENGINE IS COMPLETELY USELESS. WE ALWAYS PERFORM ROUTINE REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON OUR CARS AND THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED IN ANY WAY. WAS PURCHASED IN 2016 WITH ROUGHLY 45K MILES ON IT.

THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE ON START UP BUT WOULD QUICKLY QUIET. AFTER A WEEK THE NOISE INCREASED TO KNOCKING ON START UP AND UNTIL I SHIFTED THROUGH GEARS 1-3. AFTER A FEW DAYS, WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON A RURAL BUT HIGH SPEED ROAD THE POWER TO THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING AND MY SPEED DECREASED WITHOUT MY CONTROL. AFTER PULLING OVER I WAS ONLY ABLE TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY, 5-10 MPH. I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND THE BATTERY LIGHT FLICKERED TWICE THEN DISAPPEARED. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE POWER TO THE GAS PEDAL WAS FUNCTIONING AS NORMAL. THE KNOCKING SOUND WAS MUCH WORSE AFTER THIS INCIDENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAVE BEEN QUOTED FOR A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT. REGULAR OIL CHANGES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED DURING MY OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED NO OIL LEAK BUT DECLARED A LOW LEVEL OF OIL REMAINING.
Mileage: 89,000
IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL AT ONLY 106K MILES AFTER MY CAR HAS BEEN GIVEN VERY REGULAR AND ROUTINE OIL CHANGES. THE OIL COATED THE BEARINGS AND IT BURNED UP THE INTERNAL WORKINGS OF THE ENGINE ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, RESULTING IN ENGINE SEIZURES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, HOWEVER IT HAD BEEN SLOWLY DETERIORATING PRIOR TO COMPLETE SEIZURE.

THE CAR IS A 2014 SANTA FE AND OUT OF THE BLUE I STARTED TO HEAR A STRANGE NOISE FROM MY ENGINE AREA. MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE ENGINE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ONE DEALERSHIP ASSURED ME THAT IT WOULD BE COVERED DUE TO A RECENT RECALL ON SANTA FE ENGINES BUT COME TO FIND OUT THE RECALL WAS FOR A DIFFERENT ENGINE TYPE AND NOT MINE. WHILE RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF ENGINE FAILURE FOR THE SAME TYPE OF ENGINE THAT MY SANTA FE HAS. THE CAR ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE AT ALL AND WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI ABOUT OFFERING SOME SORT OF ASSISTANCE AND TO COVER THE COSTS OF THE ENGINE, THEY REFUSED TO DO SO. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THE 3.3 ENGINES AS WELL. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CARS BEFORE AND NEVER HAVE I EVER HAD AN ENGINE FAIL ME.
Mileage: 145,000
MY 2014 SANTA FE WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AND WOULDN'T TRAVEL MORE THAN 5 MILES AN HOUR. I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE HAD NO OIL AND WAS PART OF A SAFETY RECALL. AFTER MONTHS OF JUMPING THROUGH THE HOOPS WITH A SERIES OF OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS, I WAS TOLD THAT IF I REPLACED A SLIGHTLY DRIPPY OIL PAN GASKET (A LEAK SO SMALL THAT IT NEVER HIT MY CONCRETE CARPORT) THAT HYUNDAI OF CUMMING WOULD SEND OUR PAPERWORK TO HYUNDAI CORPORATE FOR A RECALL OF THE ENGINE. I NEVER KNEW THAT THE CAR COMPLETELY-SHUTTING-DOWN WHILE DRIVING WAS A POSSIBILITY. APPARENTLY, THE RECALLED ENGINES DO EXACTLY THAT! THEY SHUT DOWN WHILE BEING DRIVEN WITH NO WARNING! WHILE DRIVING, MY SANTA FE COMPLETELY SHUT-DOWN. NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BRAKES, NOTHING! NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON TO ALERT ME OF A PROBLEM. THE TIMING OF THIS HAPPENING WAS CONVENIENT THOUGH AS I WAS GOING AWAY FOR 5 DAYS. I DROPPED MY CAR AT THE CUMMING GA DEALERSHIP. I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE OIL PAN SEAL AND TROUBLE SHOOT THE STALLING PROBLEM. 5 DAYS THEY SAT ON MY CAR. THEY DID NOTHING. TURNS OUT, THEY WERE WAITING ON THE SERVICE-REP WHO DID MY REPAIR ESTIMATE TO RETURN FROM VACATION. THEY WERE GOING TO WAIT 11 DAYS WITHOUT DOING THE WORK OR TALKING TO ME. THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T DO THE WORK BECAUSE MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. RECALL OR NO RECALL, I NEED MY CAR FIXED! AFTER SHOWING UP IN PERSON, I WAS GIVEN A LOANER CAR UNTIL THEY COULD DIAGNOSIS THE ENGINE & REPLACE OIL PAN GASKET. THIS WAS TUES 9/15. THEY GAVE ME THE LOANER CAR UNTIL FRI. CALLED ON FRI, THEY HADN'T FOUND THE STALLING PROBLEM AND SAID KEEP THE LOANER UNTIL 9/25. WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THEY STILL HAVE NOT REPLACED THE OIL PAN GASKET, BUT THEY WANT THE LOANER BACK. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. AND DESPITE BEING A PAYING CUSTOMER, THEY STILL HAVEN'T DONE THE WORK THEY SAID I NEED TO HAVE DONE FOR THE RECALL.

VEHICLE BLEW A HEAD GASKET. MECHANIC SAID REAR BANK HEAD BOLTS WERE NOT TORQUED TO SPEC. WAS OF THE OPINION IT CAME OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE THAT WAY. I NEVER HAD IT MAX TO RED LEVEL ON OVERHEATING AND WAS SHOCKED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPORADIC TEMP SPIKES THEN BACK DOWN BEFORE I COULD EVEN PULL OFF. THIS HAPPENED ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS, ON THE INTERSTATE, ANYWHERE REALLY. THIS HAPPENED ONE DAY, THEN WOULD BE FINE FOR A WEEK, THEN STARTED IT AGAIN. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM CHURCH AND THE ENGINE TEMP STARTED ACTING SPORADICALLY. I WOULD PULL OFF AND IT WOULD COOL WITHIN A SECOND OR 2. I TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME, BUT THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE STOPPED COOLING BACK DOWN TO QUICKLY. I CALLED AAA AND HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC. BLOWN HEAD GASKET. ALMOST $5,000 TO FIX. I HAVE TAKEN PRESTINE CARE OF THIS AUTO. MY 2ND HYUNDAI VEHICLE BUT NOW I'M LOOKING AT OTHER BRANDS. A LITTLE GUN SHY OF HYUNDAIS NOW.
Mileage: 110,000
VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A NOISE OUT OF NOWHERE, NO LIGHT INDICATIONS, NOTHING. SUDDENLY THE ENGINE DIED ON THE INTERSTATE, AGAIN, NO LIGHT INDICATIONS UNTIL THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY STOPPED RUNNING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP, FOUND OUT IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NO OIL IN IT, BUT THERE WAS NO OIL LEAK. ENGINE HAD BROKEN AND TOLD WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. HYUNDAI THEN TOLD US THAT THEY NO LONGER MAKE THE 2014 ENGINE, SO A REPLACEMENT WOULD COST $11,000 AND HAVE 96,000 MILES ON IT. OUR SANTA FE HAD 73,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE WITH NO INDICATION OF AN ISSUE, WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE COULD HAVE PRODUCE A HORRIBLE, IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT.
Mileage: 73,000
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, LOST POWER TO THE GAS PEDAL TAKING SPEED DOWN TO 30 MPH. MANAGED TO MAKE IT OFF OF AN EXIT AND TO THE CLOSEST MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC FOUND METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE OIL FILTER LEADING HIM TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A FAULTY ENGINE. CALLED HYUNDAI OF ASHEVILLE AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE CAMS LOCKING UP, MEANING I NEED A NEW ENGINE.
Mileage: 117,930
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED APPROX. 60MPH ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE BAY. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER AND BEGAN FILING A COMPLAINT TO HYUNDAI USA. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF THE VEHICLE SITTING THERE AND NO WORD BACK I CALLED THE DEALER TO FIND OUT IF IT HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED. NO ONE HAD LOOKED AT IT! NEXT DAY WE GOT A CALL STATING MOTOR WAS BLOWN UP AND A COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE $15,720!!!!! THIS VEHICLE WAS AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES ETC. ( VERIFIED BY DEALER OIL LEVEL WAS GOOD ) OIL LIGHT WAS NOT ON NOR DID ANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE DURING ANY OF THIS. THIS IS OUR SECOND HYUNDAI THAT WE HAVE OWNED WITH AN ENGINE FAILURE ( LAST VEHICLE HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR ENGINE. ) AND THIS WILL BE OUR LAST HYUNDAI.

I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF MY CAR'S ENTIRE ENGINE RECALL, BY MAIL, EMAIL, PHONE..NOTHING. I WAS ON THE BUSIEST FREEWAY (DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT...75MPH) IN THE STATE, AND MY CAR'S ENGINE FAILED!! I WAS SCARED TO DEATH. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE AUTO EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE AND CAN'T DRIVE ON FREEWAYS. THE WHOLE ORDEAL, TOWING, EVENTUAL MOTOR REPLACEMENT , HAVING TO DRIVE BACK UP TO EXCHANGE RENTAL CARS, LOANER VEHICLES, ETC., HAS CAUSED ME SOME PTSD. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER IN THE TOWN CLOSE TO WHERE THE CAR MOTOR FAILED, HYUNDAI DID NOT SEND OUT ANY RECALL NOTICES.THEY DID NOT WANT TO BE INUNDATED WITH OWNERS. YES, THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP MANY MILES FROM MY HOME EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE MOTOR. HOWEVER, HYUNDAI DID NOT MAKE IT EASY FOR ME . IE., AT FIRST, NO LOANER CAR AVAILABLE (I HAD TO GET A RENTAL CAR.) I HAVE YET TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY TOWING AND RENTAL CAR EXPENSES. WHEN I FLASHBACK TO THIS, I GET UPSET. I CAN'T AFFORD TO SELL MY CAR, BUT DO NOT WANT TO KEEP IT EITHER. LOOK INTO THIS. AS I SAID, I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. SAVE OTHERS FROM DYING OR INJURY PLEASE.

ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. TOOK IN TO DEALERSHIP. LOW 4 QUARTS OF OIL. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. NO OIL LIGHT CAME ON. NO CHANGE OIL SOON LIGHT CAME ON. WHICH CAUSED METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL FILTER WHEN LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREET THAT THE NOISES STARTED. BOUGHT CAR 5000 MILES AGO.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AT ATLANTIC HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 193 SUNRISE HWY NORTH SERVICE RD, WEST ISLIP, NY 11795, (631) 587-0700. THE CONTACT STATED THAT 6,000 MILES AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE TOWED TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V934000 (ENGINE, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. *LN

THE SANTA FE'S ENGINE SEIZED WHILE TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY GOING ~65 MPH. AFTER THE CAR WAS STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, OIL LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE WAS VISIBLE ON THE GROUND. THE SANTA FE'S ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER/START. AFTER TOWING AND LETTING THE CAR SIT OVERNIGHT AT AN AUTO SHOP, THE COLD ENGINE WOULD STILL NOT TURN OVER/START WHEN THE MECHANIC TRIED. THE TRUSTED MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND WAS USELESS. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR HYUNDAI'S SANTA FE SPORT AND SONATA OF THE SAME YEAR, 2013-2014 MODELS. THE RECALL IS FOR MACHINING ERRORS DURING ENGINE MANUFACTURING. THESE ERRORS CAN CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR OF THE BEARINGS LEADING TO ENGINE SEIZURES. HAVE OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THIS DEFECT IN THE 2014 SANTA FE?

OIL LEAK FROM VALVE COVER GASKET ONTO ALTERNATOR CAUSING COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. VEHICLE VERY QUICKLY LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, BRAKE/HAZARD/INDICATOR LIGHTS, AND IGNITION WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. EXTREMELY HIGH SEVERITY POTENTIAL HARM FROM THIS FAILURE MODE, WHICH WAS THE SUBJECT OF PREVIOUS SERVICE CAMPAIGNS FOR OLDER HYUNDAI VERA CRUZ AND SANTA FE WITH SAME 3.3L V6 ENGINE PLATFORM. UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE OCCURRENCE OF THIS KNOWN DESIGN ISSUE WITH LATER MODEL PRODUCTION.

MY 2014 SANTA FE SPORT BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AT 72 MPH. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP THINKING THE WHEELS HAD BECOME UNBALANCED. IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AGAIN. I AGAIN TOOK IT FOR RE-BALANCING. SAME SHAKING PROBLEM. I TOOK IT A THIRD TIME TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHO FOUND THAT THE CALIPERS WERE SO HOT THEY WERE ABOUT TO BURN. YOU COULD FEEL AND SMELL THE HEAT. THE SHOP REPLACED THE CALIPERS THINKING THE SHAKING WAS A BRAKING ISSUE SINCE EVERY TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE EVEN WORSE. THE CALIPER REPLACEMENT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. FINALLY AFTER REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, AND ROTORS, THE SHOP DID ANOTHER ROAD TEST. THEN THE CAR NOT ONLY SHOOK BUT THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING DUE TO TIE ROD FAILURE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, SO THE SHOP HAD IT TOWED TO HYUNDAI FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT UNDER A TSB. HYUNDAI REPLACED THE ENGINE BUT WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CALIPER AND BRAKING ISSUES, WHICH ENDED UP BEING DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE ENGINE ISSUE.
Mileage: 121,500
I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES ON MY CAR AND HAVE RECEIPTS OF MY LAST 2 OIL CHANGES, BUT THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR AND THE BEARINGS WERE DRY AND RUBBING WHICH CAUSE METAL SHAVINGS TO GO INTO MY ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS MAKING A NOISE WHEN I PULLED INTO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT.

ENGINE ''2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE LIMITED. 3.3L 6 CYL FWD. I OWN THIS VEHICLE. I RECENTLY READ ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION SUITS AGAINST KIA AND HYUNDAI REGARDING ENGINE FAILURES AND FIRES. HTTPS://WWW.NCCONSUMER.ORG/NEWS-ARTICLES/SETTLEMENT-REACHED-WITH-HYUNDAI-KIA-IN-CLASS-ACTION-LAWSUIT-ALLEGING-ENGINE-DAMAGE-FIRES.HTML. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT OUR 2017 KIA SOUL THAT HAS AN ENGINE FAILURE. WHEN READING THIS ARTICLE I NOTICED UNDER THE NEW DEFECT INVESTIGATIONS PARAGRAPH THAT 2011-2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE'S HAVE ALSO BEEN LISTED FOR POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT LIST OR FURTHER DEFINE IF IT IS ONLY FOR THE 2.0 L MOTORS AND MAY NOT INCLUDE THE 3.3 L. OUR HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAD AN ISSUE IN THE PAST. IT TOOK THE DEALER A MONTH TO DEFINE AND REPAIR. IT WAS COMPLETED UNDER THE MFG. WARRANTY AND I BELIEVE FINALLY A RECALL. THE FUEL LINE WOULD COLLAPSE WHEN YOU DEPRESSED THE FUEL PEDAL STARVING THE ENGINE OF FUEL. THIS CAUSED A LOSS IN POWER AND FORWARD MOMENTUM THAT BECAME UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AT THIS TIME, IT IS STARTING TO DO THE SAME THING. AFTER READING THIS ARTICLE, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE IN THE FUTURE NOW THAT MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE INCLUDED IN ANY FUTURE RECALLS (THERE IS NOT ONE NOW) THAT MAY INVOLVE THIS SPECIFIC MOTOR AND VEHICLE. ALSO, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF, THE ENTERTAINMENT ELECTRONICS, AND AC/HEATING ELECTRICAL CAB CONTROLS. MANY ERROR MESSAGES ARE WRITTEN IN THE HYUNDAI LANGUAGE. THE DEALER STATED THEY NEEDED TO CHANGE OUT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER FOR A LIST PRICE OF $2,600.00. THE SECOND-ROW SEAT HEATERS HAVE FAILED AFTER THE WARRANTY AND HAVE HARDLY EVER BEEN USED. DEALER WANTED OVER $600 PLUS LABOR TO REPLACE EACH SEAT.

STOPPED AT RED LIGHT. EVERYTHING SHUT OFF, ENGINE WOULD NOT START OR ENGAGE.NO WARNING LIGHTS TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY SAID IT WAS MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE AND THEY HAD TO CONTACT HYUNDAI ENGINEERING. THEY COULD NOT TELL WHAT WENT WRONG. HYUNDAI WANT TO SPLIT THE COST OF REPAIR BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRENTY. IT NOW FEBRUARY, HYUNDAI HAS NOT ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE AN ENGINE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE TRY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE TWICE ,ONLY TO HAVE THEM FAIL. THEY NOW GOING TO TRY A DIFFERNT ENGINE TYPE. IT NOW TIME TO REPLACE CAR. I HAVE AN CASE # 16797233 WITH HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN VERY HELPFUL

VERY NOTICEABLE ENGINE TICKING WHEN RUNNING. BUT WHEN YOU REV MOTOR A LITTLE, IT STOPS. THIS HAPPENS IN PARK. BUT WHEN DRIVING, I DON'T NOTICE THE TICKING. THIS STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT.
AUTOMATIC GEAR NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE LOSS STOP. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM LAST YEAR 2019 IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI ON JEFFERSON AVE ( NEWPORT NEWS / VIRGINIA). THEY FOUND THAT IT WAS AN ENGINE DEFAULT FOR MOST OF THE 2014 MODEL. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AND NOT EVEN A YEAR I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN.

WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE MY CAR LOST POWER!! IT CAUSED THE SPEED TO DECLINE SHARPLY FROM 70 MPH TO 15 MPH!! IT WAS TAKEN TO THE GARAGE THE NEXT DAY. A "RECALL" I NEVER RECEIVED ON MY 2014 HYUNDIA SANTA FE. SAID IT WAS FIXED. NEXT TIME, I AM IN A REMOTE ARE, AGAIN...NO POWER. CALLED THE HYUNDAI GARAGE, THEY TOLD ME A TOW TRUCK WOULD PICK IT UP - I NEEDED TO CALL THE HYUNDAI 800 NUMBER TO SET IT UP. I CALLED, NOPE, THEY WOULD NOT PICK IT UP. GOT IT TO THE GARAGE A SECOND TIME. SUPPOSEDLY FIXED... THIRD TIME...HAPPENED AGAIN. CALLED THE GARAGE. UNBELIEVABLE. THIS TIME, I AM TELLING THEM TO KEEP THIS DEATH TRAP AND RETURN MY MONEY. NEVER AGAIN AM I CRAWLING INTO THAT THING!! 3 TIMES WITHIN 3 WEEKS!!! SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES AND PROVEN CASES OF MANY CAR FIRES. HYUNDAI IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS AND HAVE BEEN AVOIDING A FULL RECALL OVER A YEAR. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WEB SITE SAYS "DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING CALLS, MORE EMPLOYEES ARE ANSWERING THE PHONES WITHIN ONE HOUR"... I WAS TOLD TO EXPECT A CALL WITHIN 5 DAYS. GOOGLE IT: FO4X, CONSUMER REPORTS, NHTSA, CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY AND CONGRESS ARE ALL INVOLVEDED. A COMPLETE DISGRACE!!!

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AFTER PICKING UP MY GRANDCHILDREN FROM SCHOOL (ABOUT 15 MILES AWAY), AND STARTED TO SPEED UP SO I COULD PASS A SEMI TRUCK AND MY SUV JUST WENT COMPLETELY DEAD WITHOUT WARNING. MY ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING AND I LOST POWER COMPLETELY. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE, AS I LOOKED INTO THE REVIEW MIRROR THE SEMI TRUCK WAS BARRELLING DOWN UPON US AND I COULDN'T GET THE SUV STARTED BACK UP. AS MY CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN, I QUICKLY PUT MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AND THE SEMI TRUCK HAD TO SWERVE AROUND US, BLARING HIS HORN. THANK GOODNESS, NO ONE WAS COMING TOWARDS US IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, OR THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND I MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE SHOULDER, I TRIED STARTING IT BUT IT PUTTERED AND WENT OUT. I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS ON -ON MY DASH TO LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG. I WAITED AND TRIED STARTING MY CAR BUT SAME THING, IT STARTED BUT DIED OUT. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I TRIED AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT STARTED AND WE SLOWLY DROVE HOME. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT MY CAR AND HE SAYS I NEED A NEW ENGINE.

OUR VEHICLE HAD THE TURBO FAIL . AFTER REPLACING THE TURBO, THE ENGINE DIED UPON TEST DRIVE. THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE AND GAVE US THE VEHICLE BACK. THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT CRANK. DEALERSHIP JUMPED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN . THIS TIME THEY HAD TO TOW IT . IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP FOR 4 MONTHS AND TOWED 3 TIMES . EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK WITH 48HRS OF GETTING THE CAR RETURNED TO US. THEY BLAMES SECURITY SYSTEM, KEY FOB, BRAKE SWITCH , GROUNDING, AND NOW THE STARTER. EACH TIME THEY STATED IT WAS FIXED AND THEN WE HAD THE ISSUE HAPPEN AGAIN . I FILED A SAFETY CONCERN WITH HYUNDAI BUT THEY REFUSED TO ADDRESS OUR CONCERN. THEY SAID THEY WERE TOLD BY PALMER'S HYUNDAI THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. I EXPLAINED I WAS CONCERNED OF MY FAMILIES SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE TURNING OR ON THE INTERSTATE. THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS ONLINE FOR THE VEHICLE. THEY STATED I CAN TAKE IT UP WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY COULDN'T HELP WITH ANYTHING. THEY SAID IF IT FAILED IN TRAFFIC AND SOMEONE WAS HURT , THEN I COULD CALL BACK AND THEY WOULD ADDRESS IT THEN . I OWN 4 HYUNDAI VEHICLES AND HAVE HAD ANOTHER PREVIOUSLY . IT IS VERY SAD TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS WHEN YOU ARE A LIFELONG CUSTOMER

08/31/2019 TRAVELED 60 MILES ON INTERSTATE HWY AND STOPPED TO GO THROUGH A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THROUGH, IDLING MY VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINS. MY 2014 SANTA FE SPORT 2.0L TURBO BEGAN TO EMIT SMOKE FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE ENGINE. I OPENED THE HOOD AND LOOKING FROM THE TOP TOWARD THE BACK PART OF THE ENGINE I COULD SEE THE REFLECTIVE INSULATION AT THE BACK PART OF THE ENGINE AND SMOKE WAS DRIFTING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE AND THERE APPEARED TO BE AN ORANGE GLOW REFLECTING FROM THE REFLECTIVE INSULATION. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ON AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE. I DECIDED TO RETURN BACK TO MY HOME AND STOPPED BY THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP ON THE WAY. SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED, BUT HAD ONE OF THE SALES PEOPLE TAKE A LOOK AT THE ENGINE WITH ME AS I AGAIN OPENED THE HOOD. THIS ENGINE WAS NO LONGER SMOKING. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TUESDAY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERFORMED A RECALL SERVICE ITEM WITH COMPLIMENTARY OIL CHANGE AND TOLD ME THAT A FIRE HAD HAPPENED ON THE SKID PANEL UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE. THEY CLAIM THAT THE FIRE WAS STARTED FROM A LARGE PLASTIC ZIP TIE THAT HAD FALLEN ON THE TURBO ENGINE MANIFOLD AT THE BACK OF THE ENGINE AND HAD DRIPPED DOWN TO THE SKID PAN CATCHING AND BURNING INTO THE PLASTIC PAN. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A ZIP TIE COULD HAVE JUST "HAPPENED" TO HAVE BROKEN AND FALLEN IN JUST THE EXACT SPOT TO CATCH FIRE? I MENTIONED TO THE DEALER THAT I HAD READ ONLINE ABOUT RECALLS CONCERNING ENGINE FIRES ON KIA SORENTO AND HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT FOR MY YEAR MODEL VEHICLE. THEIR COMMENT WAS THAT THOSE PROBLEMS WERE ONLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE HYUNDAI SONATA. THE SERVICE WRITER SAID HE WOULD NOT REPLACE THE BURNT PLASTIC SKID PANEL AND STATED THAT THIS WAS JUST A FLUKE AND THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I STILL HAVE MANY CONCERNS AS TO HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND WHAT OTHER DAMAGE IS THERE FROM THE HOT BURNING FIRE?

FIRST ISSUE STARTED WHEN THE CAR STALLED 3 WEEKS AGO COMING OFF A HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP WHILE WAITING AT LIGHT. CAR STALLED A SECOND TIME WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC SHORTLY AFTER. THEN WORKED FINE AND HAD AN OIL CHANGE COMPLETED AT THE DEALER ON 8/2/19. ON 8/11/19, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY AFTER PROCEEDING FROM A RED LIGHT ON A STATE HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SHORTLY AFTER ENGINE STARTED MAKING KNOCKING NOISES THAT BECAME LOUDER AFTER A FEW MILES. REQUESTED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER NOISES AND ACCELERATION BECAME EXTREMELY BAD. CAR DEALER FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL PAN AND METAL BUILD UP INSIDE THE ENGINE. LONG ENGINE BLOCK REPLACED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AT 95,014 MILES.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE FREEWAY, LUCKILY FOR ME L HAD MERGED INTO THE SLOW LANE . UPON MERGING L TRIED TO SPEED UP TO LEAVE A SAFE SPACE BETWEEN MYSELF & CARS MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY. WHEN L TRIED TO ACCELERATE THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, MY DASH PANEL LITE UP WITH NUMEROUS ICONS & MY ENGINE HAD NO POWER. L TOOK THE NEXT OFFRAMP & COASTED TO A STOP , L THEN PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS & LIFTED THE HOOD TO SHOW OTHER CARS L WAS IN DISTRESS . L CALLED AAA & WAS TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA . L WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY ENGINE HAD FROZE & SINCE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD REPLACE THE MOTOR. MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS NOW AND THEY CAN'T GIVE ME ANY IDEA OF HOW LONG THIS WILL TAKE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. THERE LAST RESPONSE TO ME WAS THEY HAVEN'T LOCATED A REPLACEMENT MOTOR AT THIS TIME AND TO BE PATIENT. WELL MY PATIENCE IS GROWING THIN , THEY ONLY RESPOND WHEN L CALL . HAD L BEEN IN THE FAST LANE L PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE WRITING THIS NOW ( VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ) PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME EXPERIENCE AND THERE IS A FATALITY. THANKS FOR YOU HELP, ALL L CAN DO NOW IS SIT AND HOPE THEY RESOLVE MY SITUATION, AND THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS TO EXPERIENCE THIS. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A 4-WAY STREET INTERSECTION TURNING LEFT WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE, THEN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED. UPON GETTING THE VEHICLE TO RESTART, IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 2000 RPMS. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MAKE A LOUD LOW SOUNDING KNOCK FROM THE ENGINE. BEING CLOSE TO HOME, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY, MOSTLY IN A SHOULDER, TO MY HOME. DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THIS MODEL VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL DUE TO FAILING CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS. I CALLED MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT THE REPAIR, IN WHICH I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD COST $4,000-$6,000 FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THE RECALL COVERED VEHICLES UP TO 120,000 MILES, MY VEHICLE HAS 127,000. I WAS DENIED THE RECALL. I THEN CALLED AROUND TO LOCAL MECHANICS BUT NONE OF THEM, NOT ONE, WOULD ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE FAULTY CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS. I DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE REPAIR MYSELF WHICH HYUNDAI TOLD ME WAS IMPOSSIBLE. I MANAGED TO REMOVE THE OIL PAN, OIL PUMP, AND FINALLY THE FAULTY CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS WHICH SHOWED MAJOR SCARING AND DAMAGE. MY OIL PAN WAS FULL OF METAL SHAVINGS. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER, ALSO HYUNDAI CORPORATE AND AFTER BOTH LOOKED UP MY VIN NUMBER, NEITHER COULD TELL ME WHAT BEARINGS WERE INSIDE MY ENGINE. THEIR PARTS SYSTEM COMES BACK WITH 5 OPTIONS FOR THE BEARINGS. FRUSTRATINGLY I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AGAIN TELLING THEM I WILL BRING THE OLD BEARINGS TO THEM (RIDING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION) BUT THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO WAY OF MEASURING THE PART OR TELLING ME WHICH PART THEY USED. THE DEALER AND CORPORATE BOTH, TOLD ME TO TOW MY VEHICLE TO A 3RD PARTY MECHANIC TO MEASURE THE BEARINGS, THEN TOW MY CAR BACK HOME, THEN GIVE HYUNDAI THE MEASUREMENT TO GET A PART NUMBER. HYUNDAI DOES NOT KNOW WHAT CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS WERE USED IN THE 2.4L ENGINE!

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 75MPH, IN THE LEFT LANE, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, MY 2014 HYUNDAI SANTE FE (3.5L V6, 94K MILES AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED) STARTED TO MAKE A QUIET TICKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 40 MINUTES SINCE THE LAST STOP. ABOUT ONE MINUTE AFTER THE TICKING BEGAN, BOOM! HUGE EXPLOSION. CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THE ENGINE EVIDENTLY SEIZED, THREW A ROD THROUGH THE BLOCK, PUNCTURED THE OIL PAN SPRAYING OIL EVERYWHERE AND IGNITING. PARTS WERE FLYING OUT FROM THE BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND HEAVY WHITE SMOKE WAS BILLOWING. LUCKILY I WAS NEAR AN EXIT RAMP AND THE MOTORISTS AROUND ME WE KIND ENOUGH TO LET ME OVER TO COAST OFF THE RAMP. ONE LADY FOLLOWED ME AND PULLED ALONGSIDE MY VEHICLE TO URGENTLY INFORM ME THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND PARKED THE VEHICLE AND ME, MY WIFE, AND MY DAUGHTER JUMPED OUT. FLAMES WERE VISIBLE FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. MY WIFE AND ANOTHER MOTORIST CALLED 911 FOR FIRE SUPPORT. THREE GENTLEMAN, ONE IN A SEMI, TWO IN AN SUV, HAD PARKED ON THE HIGHWAY AND RAN OVER TO OUR LOCATION WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER (ABOUT 200 YDS). BY THE TIME THEY GOT THERE THE FIRE HAD GONE OUT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED SHORTLY AFTER THAT AND CHECKED THE VEHICLE WITH AN THERMO SCANNER TO MAKE SURE THE FIRE WAS OUT. THE INCIDENT WAS TERRIFYING AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATION THAT IT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. MY 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD WERE WITH ME AS WE WERE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, THANKFULLY NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT THE TIME DUE TO THE LIGHT BEING RED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD A KNOWN ISSUE THAT WAS RECALLED BY HYUNDAI BUT DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. I ALSO HAD TROUBLE WITH MY STEERING WHEEL AND CALLED ABOUT IT AND IT WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HYUNDAI YOU NEED TO SERIOUSLY TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT YOUR PROCESS FOR HANDLING THESE ISSUES WHEN THERE ARE OBVIOUSLY MANY VEHICLES OUTSIDE OF YOUR RECALLS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE AT STAKE. I WAS LITERALLY IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A TURN AND COULD NOT COMPLETE THE TURN WHICH LEFT ME DEAD SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HAD THIS BEEN DURING HEAVIER TRAFFIC TIMES, I COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF MY CAR STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.

THE ENGINE CEASED AND FAILED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE TO WORK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THEN AND THEY CONTINUE TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE'S SHORT BLOCK WAS ALLEGEDLY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR A TEST DRIVE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LINE CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THEY HAD TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. AS OF TODAY, THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD US OF AT LEAST 3 OCCASIONS WHILE FIXING THE VEHICLE THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LINE HAS COME ON. THE PROBLEM APPEARS SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE WITH THE 2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT. THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT REPAIRED AND ITS BEEN CLOSE TO 60 DAYS.

WE PURCHASED A USED 2014 SANTA FE IN MAY 2017 FROM OUR LOCAL CARMAX. AT THE TIME OF SALE, THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES. IT WAS NOTED AT THAT TIME UPON INSPECTION IN THE 'ENGINE' SECTION THAT ENGINE OIL AND FILTER HAD BEEN REPAIRED/REPLACED AND OIL LEAKS HAD BEEN REPAIRED/REPLACED. THIS WAS SOMETHING WE WOULD NOT TAKE SERIOUS NOTE OF UNTIL MUCH LATER. ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 22ND, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC GOING ABOUT 45-50 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY DIED. IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND MY RADIO WAS ON SO THE DASH LIT UP (I'M ASSUMING TO LET ME KNOW I WAS IN DRIVE BUT THE ENGINE WAS OFF SO SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT). I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND STARTED NAVIGATING MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER SO I WAITED. FINALLY, IT STARTED UP SO I TRIED TO GET IT OFF THE FREEWAY. THE NEXT EXIT WAS 3/4 OF A MILE. SHE WOULD NEVER MAKE IT. A $75 TOW TO A MECHANIC 1.7 MILES AWAY DETERMINED THE ENGINE WAS 'SHOT'. OUR QUOTE? $12K - $14K FOR A NEW ENGINE (PARTS ONLY). OUR 5 YEAR/50K WARRANTY EXPIRED 1 MONTH AND 14 DAYS AGO. SLIGHTLY CONVENIENT. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 49,500 MILES, 20,000 OF WHICH ARE OURS IN THE PAST 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. WE CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND WERE GIVEN A 'SORRY. TOO BAD , WARRANTY EXPIRED. GOOD LUCK BUD'. IT WAS INCREDIBLY DISHEARTENING AND DEFEATING. WE'VE BEEN TOLD OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH CARMAX WILL NOT BE HONORED EITHER UNTIL WE PRODUCE COPIES OF OUR OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS WHICH WE CANNOT LOCATE AT THE MOMENT (WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF A MOVE AS WELL). SO, WE'VE PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR THE TOW, THE RENTAL CAR, AND EVERY FREE MOMENT SPENT TRYING TO FIND RECEIPTS, MAKING PHONE CALLS, OR TRYING TO FIND A RESOLUTION FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED. IT SHOULDN'T BE OUR BURDEN TO BEAR. IT SHOULD BE THEIRS!

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A CITY STREET M24 IN OXFORD MICHIGAN TWO WEEKS AGO AND WITHOUT ONE SINGLE WARNING LIGHT EVER COMING ON THE VEHICLE THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED AND ALL LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE HAS NOT RAN SINCE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OURISMAN HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 3516 FORT MEADE RD, LAUREL, MD 20724, (301) 725-4400), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ON FRIDAY 4/26/19, I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A JERKING MOVEMENT, ALL ERROR LIGHTS CAME ON TO THE DASHBOARD, AND LOTS OF SMOKE OUT THE BACK UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND A GENTLEMAN SAW WHAT HAPPENED SAID TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE THAT THERE WAS FIRE. I GOT OUT AND NOTICED ALL OF THE OIL DRAINING FROM THE ENGINE AND LIQUID DRIPPING AND SPARKING UPON REACHING THE GROUND. THERE WAS A BOLT FOUND ON THE FLATBED TOW TRUCK WHICH WAS DETERMINED TO BE A BOLT FOR A PISTON ROD THAT SHOT THROUGH THE BLOCK AND OIL PAN. THERE WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE ENGINE.

IN FEBRUARY 2019 WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WITH 5 OCCUPANTS IN THE CAR, I WAS FLAGGED DOWN BY ANOTHER DRIVER WHO NOTICED SPARKS COMING FROM UNDER MY VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND IMMEDIATELY THE CAR SHUT DOWN. IT WAS TOWED AND LATER DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN AT 88,000 MILES. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE GAVE NO PRIOR INDICATION OF LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE OR ANY ISSUES WITH THE STATUS OF THE ENGINE, THE HYUNDAI WARRANTY GROUP TURNED DOWN THE CLAIM STATING THAT MAINTENANCE LEVEL WAS NOT FOLLOWED TO THEIR SPECIFICATIONS. I NOTICED THAT HYUNDAI HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES WITH SEVERAL OTHER RECALLED ENGINES IN THEIR PRODUCT GROUP. I HAVE SPOKEN NUMEROUS TIMES TO BOTH HYUNDAI AND THE DEALER TO WORK OUT A COMPROMISE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT FROM EITHER. I HAVE OWNED VEHICLES FOR OVER 40 YEARS, WITH MY LAST ONE REACHING OVER 250K MILES AND HAVE NEVER HAD A ENGINE BLOW. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE SITUATION FOR BOTH THE OVERALL SAFETY OR PERFORMANCE OF HYUNDAI PRODUCTS.

THE DEALER (SACRAMENTO HYUNDAI, 6250 FLORIN RD, SACRAMENTO, CA 95823, 916-427-1234) INDICATED THAT THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR, BUT THE ENGINE SEIZED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONTACT EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART FOR THE RECALL FAILED; THEREFORE, SHE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE ENGINE. THE HEAD GASKET BLEW AT ~91,000 MILES. IT HAD A DRAGGING/SPUTTERING SENSATION IN IDLE AND THEN BEGAN MAKING A LOUD NOISE AS I WAS DRIVING. DEALER REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK AND SAID THEY REBUILT THE REST OF THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE LONG BLOCK (THEY ADMITTED THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED REPLACING) WAS ON BACK ORDER FOR 2 MONTHS. IT WAS COVERED BY THE 100,000 WARRANTY. AS IT STOOD, THE SHORT BLOCK TOOK A MONTH TO GET IN. FOUR MONTHS AND ~8,000 MILES LATER, THE CAR AGAIN HAD ISSUES. INITIALLY IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE IN THE ENGINE, AND I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AGAIN. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE COOLING GASKET. FINALLY THEY SAID THE COOLANT SYSTEM (WHICH CONNECTS TO THE ENGINE) WAS WARPED AND ALSO NEEDED REPLACING. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY BUT REPLACED IT ANYWAY IN GOOD WILL. I MAINTAINED IT WAS CONNECTED TO THE EARLIER REPAIR CAUSED BY THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION. ON MY RECEIPT AT PICK-UP, IT SAID THE COOLING HOSES WERE SOFT AND WOULD NEED REPLACING ASAP, BUT NO ONE MENTIONED IT TO ME NOR OFFERED TO FIX IT (ME PAYING OR NOT). I READ IT SEVERAL HOURS LATER AFTER I'D LEFT. I'M OVER 100,000 MILES NOW AND HEARING NEW NOISES. I'M HOLDING MY BREATH UNTIL I CAN TAKE IT IN TO BE CHECKED.

VEHICLE STALLS WHILE SITTING IDLING WAITING AT STOP LIGHTS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE. ENGINE SHUTTERS WHILE IDLING AS WELL. VEHICLE LOSES ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN THIS OCCURS REQUIRING THE DRIVER TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN THE ENGINE OFF, THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE. SAFETY HAZARD IN BUSY TRAFFIC. ADDITIONAL ISSUES WITH SLIPPAGE SOUNDS FROM THE AXELS WHEN TURNING CORNERS. PROBLEM MAY BE LINKED TO OTHER OPEN RECALLS INVOLVING MANUFACTURER REPORTED MACHINE ERRORS DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS THAT CAUSES PREMATURE BEARING WEAR WITHIN THE ENGINE. THE NOTED SAFETY RISK ON OTHER VIN NUMBERED MODELS WITHIN THE SAME CLASS IS THAT IT MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. THIS VEHICHLE WAS JUST PURCHASED FROM CARMAX VIRGINIA THREE DAYS AGO. ISSUE WAS NOT OBVIOUS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS FOR THIS VIN NUMBER AT THE TIME SALE WAS MADE, BUT ISSUE IS QUITE PRESENT AT 50,000 MILES AND I HAVE CONTACTED CARMAX TO INFORM THEM OF THE ISSUE. THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM SEEMS CONSISTENT WITH ALL MODELS OF HYUNDAI MANUFACTURED AROUND 2014. A NATIONAL RECALL OF THE ENTIRE LINE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO ALERT CONSUMERS AND AVOID UNWANTED PURCHASES AND OR DAMAGING ACCIDENTS.

THERE IS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE FOR 2014 SANTA FE RECALL # 162.. I WAS INFORMED BY HYUNDAI MFG THAT MY CAR NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED RIGHT AWAY. MY ENGINE IS VIBRATING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THREE TIMES. I AM AT RISK AND VERY CONCERNED. THE DEALER DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND ADVISED THAT THERES NO REMEDY. THE MFG HOWEVER IS SAYING THERE''S A REMEDY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BLOCK. VERY FRUSTRATING DEALING WITH THE DEALER BUT GAVE CAR BACK TO ME. I WOULD LIKE TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS ENGINE RECALL AND WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. I PRAY THAT I WILL BE SAFE AND MY KIDS.
I WAS MADE AWARE OF A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY 2014 SANTA FE SPORT. I AM SHOCKED AND CONCERNED THAT THIS RECALL HAS REMAINED UNRESOLVED FOR AS LONG AS IT HAS. I AM ALSO EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. I DRIVE FOR BUSINESS AND HYUNDAI IS PLAYING THE LOTTERY WITH MY LIFE AND OTHERS WHO HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE THESE UNSAFE VEHICLES. WHERE IS HYUNDAI ON A FIX?
I JUST WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE DELAY ON THE REMEDY FOR THE RECALL OF THE ENGINE BLOCK. THEY SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE READY IN MAY, IT IS NOW MAY 31ST AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. I AM TRUSTING THIS VEHICLE TO DRIVE ME TO WORK THERE AND BACK OVER 60 MILES. I AM ALSO TRUSTING THIS AS A SAFE CAR TO DRIVE MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP.

I PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUG. 2014 MANUFACTURED IN GA JULY 2014. THE CAR WILL UNPREDICTABLY UPON STARTING UP LACKS POWER IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP WITH NO FIX. IT WILL HARDLY GO UNTIL YOU STOP TURN THE ENGINE OFF THEN RESTART IT AT WHICH POINT IT RESETS AND REGAINS ITS POWER AS BEFORE. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE RECALLS THAT ARE OCCURRING CURRENTLY WITH THIS CAR BUT THEY STOP RECALLS FOR THE PROBLEM WITH THOSE MADE 2012- MAY 2014, THIS CAR WAS MADE 2 MONTHS LATER AND IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THOSE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL FOR BEARING DAMAGE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AS THE PROBLEM DID NOT STOP WITH THE CARS IN MAY 2014. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO RESOLVE FOR THE ISSUE AND I AM CERTAIN IT IS THE BEARING ISSUE AFTER HAVING REVIEWED THE PROBLEM/RECALL WITH THE CARS MANUFACTURED JUST MONTHS PRIOR AT THE GA FACILITY. IT HAS EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES.

TAKATA RECALL VERY LOW QUALITY OF MATERIAL USED FOR THE RUBBER HOSE THAT CONNECTS THE COOLANT . MY SANTA FE'S RUBBER HOSE DETERIORATED WHICH CAUSED A LEAK. WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS OR CHANGES IN THE TEMP GAUGE, I DROVE THE CAR NORMALLY UNTIL ONE MORNING I WAS ON THE PARKWAY AND EACH TIME I WOULD ACCELERATE THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME, IT FELT LIKE I AM DRAGGING. FINALLY GOT TO MY DESTINATION HALF AN HR LATER AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. DROVE IT NEXT BLOCK OVER TO A GAS STATION POPPED THE TRUNK OPEN AND THE COOLANT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I JUST TOPPED IT OFF FEW DAYS AGO. TURNED OFF MY CAR TO RUN IN AND GET A BOTTLE OF COOLANT. TRIED STARTING THE CAR AND IT STALLED. I WAITED ABOUT AN HR AND A HALF AT THE PARKING LOT SITTING AND WAITING AND IT FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. ELECTRICAL ISSUE: A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, I WAS DRIVING IN MY 2014 SANTA FE SPORT AND THE RADIO SUDDENLY SHUT OFF THINKING I PRESSED A BUTTON BY ACCIDENT. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES IT TURNED BACK ON. IT WAS RANDOMLY DOING IT UNTIL TWO DAYS AGO IT FINALLY STOPPED WORKING. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A HYUNDAI SERVICE AGENT. VEHICLE AT 40,000 MILES APPRARENTLY IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY (36,000MI) OFCOURSE, FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THEY CHARGE YOU ABOUT $140 AFTER TAX JUST TO DIAGNOSE IT. HOW MUCH TO FIX THE RADIO? AGENT SAID, "IT WILL BE ABOUT $1700 BUT SINCE THE LEASE IS UP I CAN PUT YOU IN A BRAND NEW TUCSON AND I WILL FIX THE RADIO FREE OF CHARGE AND CREDIT YOU BACK FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS CHARGE". I WALKED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP. AND AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON PAS SIDE.

THE FRONT END COLLISION WAS BAD ENOUGH THAT THE SUV WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE ADJUSTER ALSO FOUND THAT THE FIREWALL HAD SPLIT AND APPEARED TO BE FAULTY. DUE TO THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING DURING THE COLLISION I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND VARIOUS OTHER INJURIES AS WELL AS LOSS OF HOURS AT WORK, LOSS OF PAY, MEDICAL BILLS AND EXPENSES IN ADDITION TO OWNING MONEY ON MY CAR LOAN AS THE INSURANCE DID NOT COVER THE COST OF THE LOAN.

WE STOPPED DRIVING IT IMMEDIATELY AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SERVICES IT FOR US (MAPLE HILL KALAMAZOO) AND WERE INFORMED THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS CHECK THE OIL, WHICH WAS FULL. THEY HAVE DONE ALL OF OUR SERVICE FOR US. THEY SAID THERE IS SOMETHING BANGING AROUND INSIDE THE ENGINE. IN SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SONATA ENGINE (15V568000). THE ENGINE IN OUR CAR IS THE SAME 4 CYLINDER ENGINE AS IN THE SONATA. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MAPLE HILL CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI FACTORY REP WHO TOLD HIM TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART AND SEND HIM PICTURES. ON FRIDAY, 1/29/16 WHILE EXITING FROM THE 9TH TIER OF A PARKING GARAGE THE HESITATION HAPPENED ON ALL 9 TIERS AS I ROUNDED THE CORNER TO THE NEXT TIER AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.

THE CAR MAKES A SCRAPING METAL NOISE ONLY WHEN ACCELERATING. SPEED IS NOT A FACTOR. HAPPENS EACH AND EVERYTIME YOU ACCELERATE. HYUNDAI REPLACED THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR WHEEL TWICE. HYUNDAI DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS!
Mileage: 17,000
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST RPMS AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED OVER SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COULD NOT VALIDATE MY LOCATION. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE TO THE NEXT TOWN BUT RPMS STAYED FROM 1000-2000 AND I WAS UNABLE TO GO OVER 25 MPH.

EXITED I95 GOING 60MPH AND AS I SLOWED DOWN FOR THE RAMP THE STEERING WHEEL WENT LOOSE. AS I CLIMBED UP THE RAMP THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND FINALLY STOPPED 40 YARDS AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL WENT LOOSE. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE SPEED AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL WENT LOOSE SINCE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I LEARNED THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED WORKING. BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS WITH SANTE FES ON THE HIGHWAY SO I WAS LUCKY I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD IT TOWED TO HYUNDAI WHO ADVISED THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THIS WAS A 'UNIQUE' CASE AND I SHOULD 'FEEL SPECIAL'. NO CAR SHOULD JUST STOP UNLESS THE DRIVER CHOOSES TO STOP. AFTER ALMOST 3 WEEKS I GOT MY CAR BACK (5/11/15). THEY HAD REPLACED THE COMPUTER THAT RUNS THE ENGINE ('BOX ASSY- ENG MODU' & 'ELECTRONIC CONTRO'). MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOV 2014 AND THIS EVENT HAPPENED IN APRIL 2015.

THIS IS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM SHIFTING 1-2ND GEAR, AS WE SLOW DOWN TO ENTER OUR GARAGE AND WAIT FOR DOOR TO OPEN, THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD WITH HUGE AMOUNT OF FORCE, ALMOST AS IF WE ARE HIT FROM BEHIND, THEN IT GOES INTO GEAR AND PROCEEDS. HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY NOW. I READ MANY CONSUMER BLOGS SAYING THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR THE SANTA FE MODELS. DEFINITELY A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. *TR

I PURCHASED A NEW CAR, ON FEB.1, 2014. THE MALFUNCTION LAMP ON THE DASHBOARD WAS LIGHTED UP IN 1 MONTH. MY CAR WAS REPAIRED FROM MY DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE PROBLEMS ARE NOT CLEARED YET. AT LAST, THE VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WAS HAPPENED ON APR. 19. I STEPPED DOWN FULLY ON THE GAS PEDAL ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT MY CAR WAS NOT CHANGED IN SPEED. THE RPM AND SPEED METER WERE NOT CHANGED WHEN I STEPPED ON THE PEDAL PERFECTLY TO THE END. THE STAFF IN SERVICE CENTER SAID THAT THE PROBLEM CAME FROM THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE BOLT OF HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP. THE RIGHT HAND SIDE BOLT HAD COME APART AND LEFT HAND SIDE BOLT WAS LOOSE. THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT WHY THIS PROBLEM WAS HAPPENED. THAT'S MY ALL SERIOUS STORY! *TR
