Engine control harness with under fuse box due to melted fuse box. This caused my blower motor and relay to go bad. No air flow currently in car due to control harness. Dealership stated that there has been several Sante Fe that has came in this year with the same issue.

Ever since I bought by car in 2022 brand new the car has been shaking when I press on the brakes going around 70 mph. I took the car multiple times to the dealership and all they do is resurface the rotos. One time they refused to even look at the car so I called corporate and they got the dealership to do the same thing as before. But still the car shakes. I called corporate and they said to take to dealership to once again get the rotos resurfaced (how many times are they planning to resurface the damn rotors?) I took to dealership because the car was saying it was overheating. They ended up changing the thermostat or something related to it. And I asked them to once again look at the rotors because of the issue. The guy came back and said “we didn’t look at your rotors but you need brakes and that’s $500”. They refused to guarantee me if doing the break job will fix my issue. And I’m fed up. I looked online and as it turns out, the Santa Fe’s have a lot of possible manufacture defects. Such as: -Breaking System (Shudder / Vibration Common Issue) -Cooling System (Common Failures) - Suspension & Steering Components -AWD / Drivetrain (If AWD) -Electronics & Software - TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) Audit - Turbo oil-supply pipe crack / oil leak risk -Fuel-system pipe / fuel-rail hose leak (on certain turbo models -Transmission oil-pump / transmission-system recall (power-train issues) -Rear-view / backup-camera defect (visibility / electronics issue) (this actually did happen to me and they fixed it, but they denied it was a recall when I asked if this was common. So they lied) -Trailer-hitch wiring harness fire-risk recall And possibly more issues I’ve yet to come across other owners having. These are pretty serious issues. Some causing even the car to catch fire. This is extremely worrisome and I need peace of mind. Please help me out Thank you for your time

Bought Car in 2022 when COVID was still a problem. I had problems with the LED screen on the dash turning off. It did come back after about 10-15 minutes. I had to pull over to the side of the road in the meantime. I brought my car in and no problem was found. I was told that there was no way they could order a $6,000 part if they could not reproduce the problem. I still have had this problem periodically, but it does not last as long. This can be a safety risk when the screen goes out when driving. My check engine light has gone off many time in the 3 yrs and 7 months of me owning the vehicle. I am asked if the light is blinking when this occurs. If I said 'no', I was told 'then you don't have to worry'. I had my car in to evaluate the engine light on, and was told not to worry that no code showed up (I did not get a service record if they didn't find any thing, despite me asking). The very next day I was stranded on a busy Hwy. My car was towed to the shop. I barely got off the Hwy as one of my fuel injectors was bad. I was 45 min from my home and the check engine light went on. I started driving home and called the service dept. I was told that as long as the light was not blinking, it would be ok, and I tomorrow I should call for an appt if it is still on. My car started to act up when I was nearing my home, but it was drivable. The next morning the light was still on. I did not feel safe driving it around and felt it was another fuel injector. I was driving my car to the shop and the car was slowing down a little at a time. By the time I was about 1/2 mile from the shop, my car was only going 14 miles per hour. I was driving on the side of the hwy with my flashing lights on. Very unsafe. I know that I have a lemon for a car, but not taken seriously, that is a PROBLEM. I have had many more times that my engine light was on and would bring it in for an evaluation. Sometimes things were found, other times not. I am concerned about that lack of concern.

My Santa Fe limited 2022, has stopped running while traveling at 50 to 60 miles per hour on 3 different occasions. Car has 19000 miles and incidents have occurred over past 10000 miles.

Vehicle will stall out while driving at speeds Loss of braking capability and steering capabilities all lost when this happens. Vehicle will roll until stop. No control to steer or brake

A few days before the complete engine failure the car became very jerky on the throttle response I would slowly add throttle and the car would jump all over the place with RPMs and felt extremely jerky when shifting gears. At one point the engine downshifted past redline when decelerating off the highway. The day of the engine failure I was accelerating up hill after leaving a stop sign. Around 25 mph the throttle stopped responding and the engine went to idle around 800 rpm. The car started violently shaking and sounding like it was running on 3 cylinders. I tried the throttle again and nothing happened. At this time I was slowing to a stop on the hill while still in lane being unable to get out of lane to the shoulder. Upon coming to a stop the vehicle continued to shake and eventually the engine stalled while keeping the electric on. At this point there was never any lights on the dash board to indicate a fault. Upon attempting to restart the engine it turned over 3 times and eventually started all while violating shaking and eventually stalling again. The third time attempting to start it did not turn over. At this point I was stuck in lane and needed to call the police to come and assist me because I was unable to move the vehicle under its own power putting my life in danger. Upon taking getting it towed to a dealership they said it was a fuel injector fault.

While driving the car keeps Jenkins, and on the dash board it cane up have your power train checked. My vehicle has been in the shop 4 times since February over 30 days twice. My vehicle is still currently in the shop at the dealership. They refuse to check my power train area, and keep telling me 2 of the cylinders are backfiring

Was traveling on [XXX] near Reston, VA when the Santa Fe engine started missing and losing power and check engine light came on. Vehicle was towed to dealer and repaired on 04/26/24 Mileage was 36285. The repair order says it was fuel injector for cylinder #1. The second time the same thing happened was on [XXX] near Haymarket, VA. The date was [XXX], mileage was 36577. The engine started missing lost power and check engine light came on. Vehicle taken to dealer for repaired. They replaced injector #2. The third time was about [XXX] mileage about 51000. Was traveling near Haymarket, VA. Engine started to miss, decrease in power, check engine light came on. Vehicle was towed to dealer. Inspection of the engine revealed injector #3 was malfunctioning and they needed to replace it but could not get the injector for it from Hyundai. The vehicle has been setting at the dealer since then with no idea when it will be repaired. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My vehicle made 3 ringing sounds and began to decelerate from 67mph to 0 in less than 2 minutes. I had to pull over quickly to avoid getting rear ended. This incident happened twice already. I took it in to the dealer and they were not able to recreate what happened. This occurrence happened 2weeks ago.

Middle of May 2024 car begins to feel like it's shifting when accelerating and stopping. Nothing found by Hyundai Service Dept. Lakeland. On apx. [XXX] while driving stepped on gas pedal and felt no power. Kept pumping the pedal & car started jerking. Managed to get to light and get in left lane to turn into plaza honking horn. Car slid to a stop at entrance. On apx. [XXX] my husband was driving home and same thing happened. Managed to slide car into our driveway. Both times the car had to be towed to dealership. Two fuel injectors have been changed and when I asked them to change other two they said warranty would not allow. Worst case scenario is if this happens on the interstate traveling at 75 miles per hour. Not only could we be killed but others. Both times there was no warning lights or any other warning. The car just started jerking and lost power. It can very well cause a car to rear end us and a multiple car chain reaction hurting or worse killing others. I am filled with anxiety every time I take the car out for errands. I also saw a similar incident reported in the Better Business Bureau here in Tampa by another person. I reported my incident to Hyundai Corporation by phone and email and asked the rep to reported it to her superiors to see if they could just please let the dealership replace my other two fuel injectors & I was told they could do nothing. The dealership has told me several times the injectors must fail before they can replace. Apparently, the cost of the injectors is more than someone's life. My vehicle has been having repeated issues within 2.5 years of my purchase. Initially it was the transmission and Hyundai service center with poor customer service kept the car for almost 20-25 days before replacing the vehicle. Now, I have picked up the vehicle for less than a week and I get another Powertrain DTC code P030100 and check engine light on. Hyundai service centers are worst in the country, very poor customer service. I have to take my caribou 100 miles away to a different service center because the in town service center wouldn’t even look at the car and says has no appointment. I have to drive the car for about 100 miles with engine light on which poses a major risk to the car and myself to even ben able to get the car service done under warranty. The company advertises best warranty in the industry but makes it hard to fix the vehicle under warranty. Please stay away from buying an Hyundai in future. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that on two occasions while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. On the second occasion, the vehicle was steered to the side of the road and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was not able to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

The vehicle shuts off completely when stopped at a stop sign, traffic light, or parking space. This has occurred multiple times. Hyundai can not find the problem after multiple times in the shop. The last time it occurred I was in the middle of a busy intersection and was almost broadsided.

Jul 29, 2024

The car completely shut off in the middle of driving and I was unable to put the car into park or use the emergency brake and hazard lights because all of the controls are electronic. The lack of mechanical safety features is a danger.

On November 28 2023, I was pulling onto a small highway when an alarm went off, car stopped (engine off) as other cars were coming towards me. The message displayed was "autostop is off. Shift to P or N and start engine manually". Because the alarm was so loud and I was concerned, I snapped a picture which will be attached. I immediately pushed start button and was able to get out of the way. I had not turned the Idle Start Stop (ISS) button to off - so supposedly it was on. (You have to push this button to turn ISS off. This happened twice until I was able to get to service department. After much time (and using a loaner car) Hyundai agreed to provide a new battery because of its health. This happened again. I took the car back and the manager showed me a technical service bulletin - regarding my car - "Rough Shift and Hesitation Improved Logic". This didn't sound like Idle Start Stop bulletin but I was assured it was (attached). Though the stall has not occurred since, the ISS icon at times just isn't there. My dealer is communicating with Hyundai to try to keep my car again and provide a loaner. I am reporting this because many others on Hyundai Forums are describing the same incidents. Yet I haven't seen anyone mention the Technical Service Bulletin, even though many have taken this problem to their dealer. To me this needs to be considered for a recall. I had a daughter and grand daughter in my car and had no idea what to do with cars approaching. Fortunately, just pushing start worked. I have read the manual and know what is required for ISS to work. All requirements were net. It is possible the TSB has fixed stall issue so I am mainly reporting for other drivers.

Was driving on the highway while it was in cruise control and on several occasions when trying to accelerate the vehicle would jerk aggressively and struggle to accelerate. It did this about 3 times on my way to my destination. Took it in and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it nor could they replicate the issue. No work was on done on it.

The car has been taken to the dealer multiple times for not accelerating out of 1st gear when starting up, and also for shuddering at high speeds. We have been stranded, hundreds of miles from home on 2 occasions, first with less than 30,000 miles because the spark plugs needed to be replaced. And the second occasion, also hundreds of miles from home, because the car failed on the highway and limped into a dealership, where one of the fuel injectors was replaced at approx 50,000 miles. The mechanic at this dealership voiced his concerns that these were the original fuel injectors, He said he was aware of the problem, but was only permitted to replace one of the fuel injectors. The car continues to shudder at occasionally, and refuses to shift out of 1st gear at odd times. We have tried to get Hyundai to replace the fuel injectors, but they refuse. I would like this to be serve as a record of our problems so that others can be aware of a problem that exists with these cars. This is a safety issue, as if the car will not accelerate on a highway or crossing a road, it is possible to have an accident. Also, having the car fail on a remote highway is also a safety issue.

Ref NHTSA TRACKING # 11557625 Vehicle broke down again within 5K miles and 45 days of prior repair referenced in above case. Similar conditions, highway speed, bucking and vibrating, loss of speed control, no warning. Subsequent repair confirmed same issue (fuel injector) as original breakdown/repair and my initial notification to NHTSA.

On 10/31 I loss power while on the freeway for the 2nd time since August. The car was assessed and fixed according to the dealership. My car threw a 2nd code which was cleared and not fixed due to not showing issues according to the dealership. I got my car back in mid November. I immediately complained that I still had a rough idle and was told my car was fine by the manager via service rep. On 11/28 my car loss power on the freeway again for the 3rd time since August. According to the codes, all my cylinders are failing one by one. This is a huge safety concern. The dealership could care less.

Nov 30, 2023

Vehicle began to shake, buck and emit a grinding noise while traveling on highway resulting in loss of speed control and associated fear. Check engine light appeared simultaneously. No prior indication of a problem. Managed to limp to next exit via shoulder. Had car towed to dealer as warranty was still in effect. Problem was diagnosed as fuel injector failure and repaired. Learned it is a common, recurring issue with Hyundai 4 cylinder engine. Not unusual to have multiple failures per vehicle. Hyundai is only authorizing repair/replacement upon individual failures, not pre-emptive even though common and recurring. Confirmed this is a common, recurring issue across Hyundai via our local mechanic and internet info. Vehicle has now experienced a second failure and is being towed to dealer.

The issue with Hyundai 2.5 L turbocharged engines is getting a lot of exposure on-line. My story begins about a year ago with me complaining to the Hyundai service department about my 2022 Santa Fe Limited hesitating, lurching, and stalling (once) following acceleration from a complete stop, all without the Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminating (which the dealership said is needed to initiate troubleshooting). In addition, there is a common thread where dealerships are telling owners that it is "... probably bad gas." On 2 October 2023 the SUV started and was idling very rough, and as I drove off, the CEL illuminated (finally). After turning off the SUV for five minutes, it started fine with no CEL. My OBD-II code reader pulled three codes from the SUV that afternoon: P0300, P0301, and P0302 (Misfire - General, Misfire - Cylinder 1, and Misfire - Cylinder 2). The trouble codes should be sufficient for the service department to locate a problem, and to their credit I was placed in a loaner vehicle when I dropped the SUV off on 7 October 2023. So far (24 October), they have not identified a problem, even though there is a fuel injector Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for multiple Hyundai vehicles (including my Make/Model/Year) that may or may not apply to my specific vehicle. Bottom line: The vehicle is unsafe to drive (as I told the service manager), has had this problem for approximately one year, and if the vehicle stalls when I am entering traffic it is not going to end well - not for me in a stalled vehicle and not for Hyundai after they had an opportunity to address the problem.

Oct 11, 2023

Vehicle check engine light came On while driving and vehicle began misfiring. Vehicle was in the shop and injector was found defective. Vehicle again had same issue but intermittently and wife would have to pull over and shut down the car to be able to drive it safely home. Dealership tried blaming bad gas which was purchased a mile from dealership. Within 50 miles vehicle began acting the exact same way and Hyundai dealership says injector needs replaced but blaming contamination not a known issue Hyundai has with injectors. Found multiple instances of same issue and same made up issue of contaminated gasoline even at the same dealership I went to. Faulty injectors make the vehicle unsafe when traveling at highway speeds on busy highways.

Sep 11, 2023

I have experienced a sudden loss of power when accelerating and then sudden vehicle slowdown and engine shutdown. Twice this occured at either hiway speed or accelerating to highway speeds. In both of these cases I easily could have caused or been involved in a serious crash. The third time happened on a city street and was not as egregious. There was no forewarning this might happen...no warning lights on the dash, etc. The vehicle is currently in a dealership service department after the last occurrence , and has been for five days with no knowledge of the current status. The prior times the dealership, Kolar Hyundai in Hermantown, Mn. has only cleared the error codes stored in the computer, but not identified a cause. The three times it was in the dealership were 2/15/22, 6/28/23, and 9/5/23. The second time it had to be towed in. The car currently has 9200 miles on the odometer. I am now afraid to drive it, as I consider the problem to be dangerous to my safety, as well as other vehicles. I have contacted Hyundai Customer Care, but received no response as of today.

I was driving the vehicle my pregnant wife and 1 year old baby were in the car with me. Car started shaking and i was loosing speed right before getting off the freeway. There was a very strong smell of gas as if it was leaking but it was not. I have an appointment to be checked at the dealership Wednesday August 16th. This is the second time something like this happens while driving in the freeway.

I had previously filed a complaint and received an issue number 11494975 I have not been able to retrieve any information related to this number. In any event I am constantly having problems with acceleration, stalling, the car puts itself in Neutral, and on occasion has completely turned itself off at a light or while driving. I do have a video of the acceleration problem and revived an email back from Laura Nelson. This is a very serious safety issue. Hyundai is not responding to following up. I also took it to an outside mechanic to put in the computer and got a general code so there is a problem somewhere. Thank you Susan Piller

On Friday the 7th of April while driving about 40 miles/hr my car lost power in traffic. I pushed gas pedal all way to floor to no avail. Then I was able to get it to move at about 20m/hr for short distance and it cut out and engine lite on as well as a horrible smell like something was burning. It had to be towed into dealer.

I have experienced power loss soon after I bought the car in Dec 2021. While I was driving the car was going in a constant speed of 20 to 30 mph. However hard I pressed the gas, car felt not responsive. Reported this to the service center and was advised that this may be since car is learning my driving habit. Later in december 2022, received a recall 236 letter from hyundai which was mentioning an issue similar to the one I experienced. Took the car for recall and informed me that the software upgrade is done as per manufacturer recommendations. Now on March 28th 2023 while I took the car out in the morning, there was more smoke than usual. And the same issue happened again. The car was not going beyond 20 to 30 mph for around 6 miles. Reported the same to the nearest service center and booked an appointment after 2 weeks . Also sent a complaint to hyundai motors directly

My vehicle has been having intermittent cylinder misfires for about 4-5 months now. Initially, before I knew this was the issue, I didn't think much of it because the shaking that would occur was mild, but as it gradually worsened I knew there was a bigger issue. I will start my car, the check engine light will be on, and the car will shake very hard with acceleration throughout the entire drive. I know that it is a cylinder misfire because I will get an alert on MyHyundai app telling me that a DTC code has been detected, this is the code, "DTC P030100" (the servicing department confirmed this was the misfire code). I have come to learn that the car usually only populates the code when the issue occurs for consecutive trips. As this is an intermittent issue, there are times when I know that the car is misfiring during the drive (it is obvious), but I will not be sent a DTC notification. I have taken my car to the dealership 3 times for this issue with documented DTC codes for each visit. Upon my initial visit to get this seen about, my local Hyundai dealership changed the spark plugs and coil packs in an attempt to fix the issue (although the spark plugs should not usually need replacing at 20,000 miles). It was about 2 days until it started misfiring again. Since then, I have taken it back to the dealership twice because of this unresolved issue, but if the cylinders are not misfiring the day I take it, the issue is dismissed. I truly do not think they know or care to investigate the matter further. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times within the last 3 weeks regarding this issue. I have to imagine this is a safety issue as it can increase the chance of engine failure. Today was the 3rd visit, I picked it up and as I was told, "we saw the DTC code, but the cylinder was not misfiring when we looked at it, so we drove it around a good bit and no issues so the code was cleared".

The engine has had an oil leak since purchased new in 2021. This is a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with 4 cyl turbo engine. The air filter housing is also saturated with engine oil and the air filter is about 1/3 covered in engine oil, resulting in minimal protection. The possibility of fire is very realistic.

Nov 26, 2022

My car has stalled and shut down and locked up completely while I was driving the vehicle for the 4 th time Thanksgiving Day. I was petrified! I called service at the dealership and they wanted to charge me. The car isn’t even a year old! What is Hyundai going to do about this?

Nov 10, 2022

The car started to stall and then completely turned off while I was driving. I had to turn the engine off and restart the car. I was petrified. This has happened to me twice

On Friday 10/28/2022, I took my vehicle to receive its first oil change at a third party location at 7,042 miles and was told by the mechanic that there was significant metal pieces in the oil filter, which was abnormal for a brand new car but I was told it should be okay so I continued driving the car. My family and I left on a 700 mile road trip the next morning and by that night, the engine began making a knocking noise. On Sunday morning 10/30/2022, the engine would not accelerate anymore. On Tuesday 11/01/2022, I took the vehicle to Sport Durst Hyundai in Durham, NC who informed me the engine has failed but it would not be covered under warranty because they do not deem this to be a manufacturers defect. The car is not drivable and Hyundai is unwilling to replace the engine on a car with less than 8,000 miles on it. There is no reason my engine should have failed on a brand new car.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while driving approximately 25-40 MPH, the RPM increased to 5,000 however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was turned off and restarted the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and was advised to schedule an appointment to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

We have had already had two issues with our Hyundai Santa Fe that we purchased new from a dealer on 5/21.The first malfunction happened on 7/23. While driving, we had several messages come across the dashboard warning that some sensors were not working properly. We then had the warning light, front collision light, the traction control light, the abs light, the auto hold and the emergency brake all light on the dash. We also lost the blind spot sensor on the side mirrors. Called the dealer and took the car in. Two days later was told it was a wheel sensor and all should be good. Then on 8/31, while merging onto a highway, I pressed the accelerator and although the engine revved, the car did not increase in speed. Luckily the car behind me was able to swing around me and I put on my hazards and pulled to side of the road. I turned the car off, restarted it and pulled out. Five miles down the road, while in traffic, the same issue occurred, but after about thirty seconds or so, the car jerked and picked up speed, Back to the dealer it goes and they called to tell me that they cannot replicate it and there are no diagnostic codes showing. They are going to keep it for a few more days to do some more diagnostic testing, but don't know what the issue is. This is a brand new car -

We have a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with less than 17,000 miles. We pulled into the left turn lane at an intersection. When we stopped for a red light, the vehicle abruptly shut down all power with no warning. We tried to restart the car and nothing would work. We tried the hazard warning flashers and they did not work. Our vehicle was completely dead with no dash lights, no infotainment screen, we could not put the car in park or drive. We could not activate the emergency brake. It was as if the battery was disconnected. We were sitting in the travel lane of a very busy multi-lane roadway with no way to exit the vehicle unless we allowed it to become an errant vehicle. If my husband took his foot off the brake, the vehicle would have rolled backwards down the hill where we were stopped. After several light cycles, we were able to get a break in traffic and he was able to let the vehicle roll backwards and steer the car into a small roadside parking lot. I was able to find someone in an adjacent business who gave us a wooden chock to put under the tire so he could take his foot off the brake and prevent the car from reentering back into traffic. We called Roadside Assistance and tried unsuccessfully to restart the vehicle numerous times over the 2 1/2 hours while we were waiting for the tow truck. The tow truck driver came and was able to jump start the vehicle. This has now happened a total of 4 times in the last 4 months. The dealerships can not recreate the problem and there are no diagnostic codes because the vehicle dies abruptly. Hyundai Customer Service refuses to do anything to help with this issue because there are no codes and the tech can't recreate the issue. We can not drive this vehicle because when it happens it is very sudden and gives no warning. This could be a serious safety issue when the vehicle shuts down in the travel lane and we are unable to get out of the vehicle, activate emergency flashers or even put the car in park.

It's been 6 months since I bought my car new. Around about 5,000 miles I started noticing that it rev'd really high before it would switch gears. It really became a problem when I pulled out onto a busy main road from a side street and it got up to 20mph then just rev'd really high and wouldnt go any faster. I had my son with me in the car and he looked behind us and said, mom cars are coming why arent we moving. I told him I was trying to, I took my foot off the gas pedal then pushed it again, I did this several times as we were coasting to a stop. The car then felt like it finally jolted into gear and started to go. It did this a couple more times, especially when trying to speed up from a stop or a slow roll. I called the Hyundai service department and explained the situation, they took my car and looked at it. They said nothings wrong and nothing showed up on the computer they plug into it. So I took the car home and continued driving it as its my only vehicle. It started to now just rev real high alot with trying to go from a stop. It also started jolting real hard when putting it in drive from park but not all the time. I called the Hyundai service department again around 7500 miles and explained to them again. Again they brushed it off and told me theres nothing. When I picked it up I asked them what do I do then they basically told me nothing and the service guy told me he didnt believe me. I told him I have looked this up online and it has been an issue with other years of the Santa Fe. He still brushed me off and I asked for corporates number so I could contact them. This is dangerous because I dont know when it is going to act like this and when pulling out into traffic it is not safe. Not only is it not safe for my son and myself, but for other drivers around me as well. I just want the problem fixed.

Vehicle under normal operation began to lose power as the accelerator was depressed. Eventually stalling and consequently cutting power to the engine. The vehicle became immobile and would not move or engage out of drive until repeated efforts to turn off/on the vehicle. For a few days following the incident the vehicle idled very low, nearly shutting off in a few instances.
