I started smelling a little gas in the 20th. And on the 21st it got a lot worse so I took it to the dealership. This is the same place that replaced the engine because it failed and it was a recall. I let them know of the recall and they said it is not covered. They told me it was the high-pressure fuel line that connects to the pump. I have provided a picture of what the tech said.
My vehicle had Hyundai Safety Recall 227 (fuel tube replacement) completed on December 7, 2022. After the recall repair, the same fuel-system symptoms returned. A Hyundai dealership diagnosed failure of the high-pressure fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pipe and stated the condition was critical and a safety risk due to fuel system involvement and potential fire hazard. Hyundai Motor America declined assistance, citing vehicle age and mileage, despite this being a recurring fuel-system safety issue following a recall repair. The vehicle continues to present fuel-related safety concerns, and operating the vehicle poses a potential fire risk. In addition, the estimated repair cost exceeds $2,000, which represents a significant financial hardship for a safety-related defect that occurred after a recall repair. I am submitting this complaint due to concern for vehicle safety and the recurrence of a fuel-system defect after a manufacturer safety recall.
Theres a know recall for this issue. Recall 189 AND 227 for hyundai. Fuel leak right by the regulator on the hose. Mine is doing the exact thing. My motor isnt covered for some reason. Same make and model. So id like to make a complaint and make it know the exact same issue is happening STILL, 2013 hyundai sonata and they wont cover it. So if another recall could be opened to help others. I mean its the exact same issue.
We were sitting in our car at a Hardees drive through when we noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. I pulled forward to a parking space and opened the hood. Flames shot up at least 6 feet. I quickly ran a short distance into the fast food place and right near the door was a fire extinguisher, which i grabbed and put the fire out with. The fire burned for about a total of 2-3 minutes, and did not do excessive damage. Coil packs and wiring harness got most of the damage. With the hood closed, you cannot even tell there was a fire. I had the car towed to Grayson Hyundai for the recall part, but then entered a claim to Hyundai. Long story short, they stalled me for over a month and then denied the claim. Citing no damage to the cam. Unlike most of the fires with this carline, my car fire was put out very quickly. The recalled fuel line/tube was not damaged much at all. You could inspect the part and see the wear on it and tell it was the culprit. It didn't take a trained mechanic to see this. After i put the fire out and it cooled, i tried starting it, and there was fuel squirting out from the recalled part. There is absolutely no doubt that the recalled part was the cause of the fire. But Hyundai has given me a denial letter that does not state the reason for denial. The Hyundai rep on the phone told me it had to do with no damage to the cam. I then asked, Thats because i got the fire out so fast right? and he said no, didn't have anything to do with it. But he lied. First of all, the cam has nothing to do with the cause of the fire. a damaged cam only happens when the fire was long lasting and severe. They should have inspected the obvious recalled part right in front of them. This denial is completely unprofessional and hints of a concerted effort to categorically deny claims. They don't usually have this much evidence, they did this time and still blew it. had i let it burn to the ground,=approved
So my car started to stall when I started it an when I started goin down the road like it wanted to die. Then I started to smell gas very strong so had a code tester put to my car an i have 6 permanent codes. An not only that im smelling oil strong an noticing big oil spots under my car. So I look under the hood an behind the turbo I see oil behind an underneath the turbo. I definitely didnt feel safe driving but now its not even drivable. I purchased it couple months ago from an individual an i cant belive the amount of problems this car has. Im a single mom an trying to support my family an its hard to now with a non running car. I've put quite a few parts hoping it would fix some of the problems an nothing has. I absolutely love the car an very beautiful but unfortunately to many problems with it. Eninge, gas leaks, timing
Unknown, caught fire. š³
On [XXX], in Washington, D.C., my 2013 Hyundai Sonata experienced sudden engine failure, leaving the vehicle inoperable. My goodwill repair request was denied within 30 minutes, without a proper inspection of the rod bearings (a known failure point covered under the TXXI extended warranty) or the fuel pipe recallāa known issue that could pose a fire hazard. Hyundai cited suspected maintenance neglect, but I have documentation of regular synthetic oil changes. Despite having over 200,000 miles, a Firestone inspection from September 2024 confirmed the vehicle was in good condition prior to the failure. Additionally, Hyundai Theta II engines are widely known to suffer from excessive oil consumption, a defect that can lead to premature engine failure even in well-maintained vehicles. Hyundai has replaced engines in vehicles with similar mileage under the same extended warranty, yet in this case, no proper inspection was conducted before denial. Safety Concerns: The fuel pipe recall was not inspected, raising concerns about whether unresolved recall defects are leading to engine failures or fire risks. The airbag clock spring, covered under Hyundaiās TXXA extended warranty, was not inspected, despite the airbag light being illuminated, potentially affecting airbag deployment in a crash. The vehicle failed without warning lights or error messages, creating an unsafe situation. Hyundaiās failure to inspect recall-related issues before denying repairs could impact other affected vehicles on the road. I request that the NHTSA: Ensure Hyundai properly inspects recall-related components before denying repairs. Investigate whether Hyundai is improperly denying warranty and recall-related repairs, even in cases where similar vehicles have received replacements. Determine if the unresolved fuel pipe recall and airbag clock spring defect pose broader safety risks. This issue has been reported to Hyundai corporate, but no proper inspection has been performed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO
The vehicle has begun to vibrate/shake badly but manageable. When a code reader was connected to the vehicle both codes 7E9 and 7E8 showed up. Upon researching, information has been found that these specific vehicles have been known for recalls due to fuel hose issues. If I continue to drive this vehicle without the issues being resolved which is not my fault, I jeopardize my son and Iās lives as well as any potential future passengers.
After starting, got a warning stating check hybrid braking, do not drive. When going forward, brake pedal went to floor, heard heavy grinding noise and vehicle stopped accelerating. Had to use the emergency brakes to avoid an accident. Hyundai says they canāt find a problem. Now I canāt even drive it back to the dealer! Did an internet search and many other hybrid owners have reported the same issue. I just want to have Hyundai buy the car back at this point. It only has a little over 50,000 miles on it.
2013 Hyundai Sonata engine caught on fire after being replaced TWICE.
My low pressure fuel hose has a leak. The amount of gasoline that is spraying on my spark plugs and engine is concerning. The gas fume smell coming in through the vent was horrible. After finding this leak I came to the conclusion that I am very lucky My car didnāt catch fire while I was driving. For some reason there is already a recall in place that includes my vehicle year but does not include my vehicle Vin. How do I get my vehicle included in this recall so that it can get repaired? The recall in question is NHTSA number 227 or 22V ā 314. At this time, the car is sitting in my driveway and I am not inclined to move it until I know it can get repaired. At that time, I will have it towed to the dealership.
While accelerating on the highway, several warning lamps (battery, engine, others that I forget) came on. When I pulled over the hood was smoking, and a fire flared up after I opened the hood. My son and I escaped the car with no injury. Still waiting for report from insurance company.
Car smells like itās burning, been told itās oil. Dealership after seeing leakage on the engine replaced the valve gasket. Car still smells like itās burning and apparently there is no leaking. I went to the same dealership to inform them and they recommended replacing a hose but not a guarantee it will fix the overall problem which is smelling of burning. Iām concerned! Iām 37weeks pregnant and donāt want to inhale burning or any other chemicals pre and post postpartum with a newborn
Wires, reverse osmosis system unauthorized and unknown
While driving the car at freeway speeds it died and quit running, and the engine compartment began smoking, and a fire ensued under the hood. Gasoline could be smelled before it started fire.
The engine went into smoke and caught on fire. Resulting in damage to the vehicle ultimately causing to be totaled.
Mileage: 161,847
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Car continues to have inconsistent acceleration, hesitation, and sometimes lurches forward. On two occasions, the car felt like it was just going to turn off while driving. I was driving about 75 mph on I295 and driving about 15 mph on a residential road during the second occurrence. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I feel as though I am not in complete control of the acceleration but am mostly concerned with the car stopping on it's own. I am very scared I'm going to be hit by the car(s) behind me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have an appointment in October for the car to be evaluated by a dealer. I hope it doesn't happen again before then. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The only time a warning lamp came on was during the second episode when the car felt like it was going to turn off; the engine light came on and immediately off.
My 2013 Hyundai Sonata lost acceleration power while on the road requiring an emergency departure from the road and it fails to acceleration beyond. Placed vehicle in park and attempted to proceed home but was only able to drive 5 to 10 mph max creating a dangerous situation for my fellow commuters and myselt. After about a few block I let the vehicle cool down and attempted to proceed home. The car would only go up to 5 mph requiring me to avoid rear end collisions. Ultimately, requiring a tow vehicle to bring it home. Our neighbor indicated it is the MAP sensor which was changes with no improvement to the car's acceleration issues. Checked all the fluids and assured they were correct. This vehicle has place me and others in a dangerous and potentially fatal situations.
This incident singled happen in a 20 or so miles on my way home commute, no freeway drive. I was driving pulling out of a parking street when I notice the vehicle tendency to pull me forward, even though I was preparing to stop. It continue to have this issue at a stop sign and traffic light. at first it was mild pull as if you are being towed. Sporadic pushing forward, but when I turned to the left I notice that the engine pick up speed on its own and the issue was exacerbated on turns to left and right. The issue continue to the point I stayed at a safety distance from other cars and the pull began to be more aggressive. I was driving slow at that point. With hazards lights on. On arrival to my home driveway and upon putting the car on park the engine RMP jump so high that scared me! The car sounded as if it would take off by its self. I had the foot on my brake and did not pump at that point. I took car to the dealership the next day and it continue to pull at sporadic times I drove slow and cautiously . Noticing that the pull got worse driving on a straight street versus the day before only on turns having more aggressive forward acceleration pulls. The dealer has check the car and has not been able to detect the problem with computer codes and apparently have not been able to reproduce the issue after driving the car. The mechanic, told me to take pictures of engine light if when I drive it has issues, and the light comes up. But not other solution was given.
HE99 P cabin filter DR Break LightV Air Filter Oil Leak Poss Oil Pan. Now having engine problems and my car was taken to Pennsylvania. My car started smoking.
While driving car engine compartment caught on fire. Unknown to me two passing motorist alerted me I pulled over at that time engine was on fire. Fire extuginsh using extuginsher. Car towed to major hyundai of Stroudsburg 1534 north main Stroudsburg PA.
Fuel line is leaking as with the recall, but my car shows that it is not part of the recall 189...fuel tube. Problem is the same as the recall campaign 189
Was losing power while driving, oil consumption issues (had to add oil every 1000 miles). Engine started knocking and went into limp mode, had it towed to dealership where they said they fixed it ($1100). Less then a week later while driving on the highway lost lower, went into limp mode (89 mph to 15 mph in seconds) and was almost hit by a semi truck. Car has been sitting at the dealership since May 2022, they said I need a new engine but Hyundai declined.
I have owned my car about a year. There were no problems from the beginning but just a few days ago I was waiting in my car and turned the heater on. The strong smell of fuel came through the vents I immediately shut off the vents and took the car home and did not drive it for a few days. After a inspection from myself to see if I could find the issue nothing was found and so I took the car into a shop to have them inspect it. They quickly found that the metal high pressure fuel line was leaking at the connection to the fuel pump. They said I was lucky that the car had not caught on fire during the drive to the shop as the leak was right near the spark plugs and the fuel vapors were very strong. They tried to reestablish the seal and the leak is worse now. The car is undrivable and I will have to replace either the fuel line and/or the fuel pump.
2013 sonata. Constant oil consumption. Had replaced the oil pan and piston, oil caps, pvc valve. Car stalled twice and kept getting check engine lights popping up. Turns out the engine is defective and needs to be replaced. The car is starting at my mechanic right now and trying to figure out how to get it to Hyundai dealer so the engine can be replaced. the car is unsafe to drive right now. my son has the car.
My 2013 Hyundai sonata caught fire yesterday after the car stalled at a red light - car is totalled - i am just hearing about this now that numerous car like mine have gone up in flames. I am devastated
Everytime I put fuel in my car I get a strong gas smell outside and inside my car. Iāve looked to see if there is a leak and do not see anything. Looked to see if there are recalls and shows there are 8 but when I put vin in. There is no recalls. Donāt know if the have been taken care of alright or I never had them on my car.
The low pressure side fuel line on the vehicle has cracked and has a hole in it. Just above the back of the engine. Hyundai has issue a recall on this EXACT problem mid last year. However they say there is no open recall for my vehicle. This tells me Hyundai is NOT being honest about the amount of vehicles this has affected. When trying to reach Hyundai about this issue I simply get told there is not a recall for my specific vehicle. Vehicle stalls while driving and is very hard to start up after fueling. This is an extremely unsafe vehicle do to the strong possibility of fuel leaking on to the engine or exhaust while running. I find it completely irresponsible of Hyundai to potentially put someoneās life at risk by not including ALL vehicles of the model any year in their recall related to this problem. There was no warning of this issue other than the vehicle stalling or running rough at stops and not starting correctly after refueling. I have pictures to prove the issue. Please look into this matter seriously and hold Hyundai accountable for RECALLING all vehicles with this potential problem. Hyundai appears to be excluding or not being honest about the amount of vehicles that need to be fixed in their recall. Vehicle can catch fire and people can lose their lives cause of this negligence.
I had my car recall fixed on 12/10/2022 at the Burns Hyundai in Marlton NJ. It seems to have failed when I parked my car it smelled like gas and I got out and see gas all over the ground. They were supposed to fix 2 recalls on my vehicle. My gas was empty after I had just filled it. My car would not start. It cranked but didnāt start. There were no warning signs.
The car caught on fire while my family was driving it. Nearly killing them in the fire. Witnesses say the fire started underneath the car then went to the engine. There is a TSB recall 227 on those types of cars indicating the fuel tube needed replacement. This car was serviced last in September with an engine replacement at Hyundai dealership. That day the check engine light came on. Police was called, insurance is investigating. Have not contacted manufacturer.
Received recall NHTSA Recall Number:22V-312, Fuel Hose Replacement. Contacted Hyundai of Bowie , Service 301-850.-6802. The scheduler explained that the company does not have a plan to correct the problem. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. I received several recall notices and the response never changes "No remedy available.
We were travelling from Minnesota to Arkansas to see our family for thanks giving on 11/24/2022. Car engine starts blinking and engine started to make rattling noise. Took exit and pull over our car in one of the gas station. It was closed, this was our first road trip and first time in Iowa. Called insurance and towed our car to O'reaily auto part. They found out the error code p1326 which is related to engine issue. Looked for nearby Hyundai dealership and booked hotel near them. We went to Hyundai dealer at 7:00am on Friday 11/25/2022. We told them what happened. They told us they will check in our car. We waited from 7am to 1:30pm our car was still outside. At 2pm service manager came and said they cant check our car. We booked rental car ourselves and decided to come back home. We forgot our apartment key went back to get it and they had already started to diagnose our car thinking we are gone. Service guy told me that's engine failure every Hyundai is facing now. My car have 61k miles on it and I bought it in 2020 from Hyundai dealership. I still have 9k loan to pay this car and i cannot afford new car or new engine. I do not have car now and they are saying it can take months to repair my car if it gets approved for engine replacement. Hyundai is playing with my life and put me in depression. I have no option other than to cry. I am feeling so helpless now. Nothing and nobody seems helpful. I try my best to do anything i can and i am just waiting for coming Monday for Hyundai to make excuse to not fix my car. Hyundai is playing with lots of people life. This might be small for them but not for a working people like us. My life is messed up because of them. I cannot sleep at night and I have been calling everywhere if I can get help.
I CALLED CIRCLE HYUNDAI OVER A MONTH AGO TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR RECALL #22V-312 AND WAS TOLD I'D BE CALLED WHEN THE PART ARRIVED. I CALLED BACK 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS TOLD IT WASN'T IN YET. I CALLED TODAY, 11/18/22 AND WAS TOLD THE WAREHOUSE WASN'T RELEASING PARTS FOR THIS RECALL. MY NOTICE STATES TO CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR THIS TO BE CHANGED OUT. AS A SAFETY MANAGER MYSELF I'M NOW BEING PUT IN HARMS WAY IF THIS PART FAILS AND CATCHES ON FIRE. NOT A HAPPY HYUNDAI CUSTOMER!
I was driving my daughterās 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to the gym early one Sunday morning. I pulled into the parking lot to park the car. When I stopped to put the car in park the car suddenly accelerated and I drove through the glass wall of the gym. The car accelerated through the gym, hit a metal pole , and crashed into a wall on the far side of the gym. The front end of the driverās side corner was smashed in and my airbags did not go off.
Was driving down the highway doing about 70 miles per hour engine just flats out stalls on me. Was trying to merge over to get out traffic had no power and almost got hit by semi.Wait 5 minutes and restart car. Car started Making clicking noise and gave it gas went a little bit and stalled out and would not restart. Contact a manufacturer said there is an issue With the engines but does not know if it qualifies for their extend warranty.
While driving my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, I smelled fuel fumes coming through my a/c vents for several minutes. I shut the a/c off and rolled the windows down. White smoke began billowing out of my exhaust tail pipe then from under the hood. Being in the far left lane of a five lane freeway, other motorists and I were placed in danger as I had to travel across all lanes of traffic as my vehicle billowed thick white smoke into the air limiting the clear view of other motorists and increasing the chance of causing collisions. I pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway and then lost all power steering and brakes on my vehicle. I applied the emergency brake and brought my vehicle to a stop then turned it off. I looked at the temperature gauge and it read normal range but the check engine light came on along with several other dash lights. Once I turned the vehicle off, flames and billowing smoke began coming from under my hood. Four to five minutes later the fire extended to the cabin then the vehicle was fully engulfed. The fire department arrived and extinguished the vehicle fire. Prior to this drive, I have not smelled any fuel leaks or fuel odor inside or outside of the vehicle. It appears a fuel delivery component was the cause of the issue.
The engine is burning oil again this is the second engine my car was part of the first recall after noticing how low n black my oil was I noticed it also smells like gasoline. Now I tried to get it in for the recall 227 part of recall 189, it hesitates to start will just stahl whenever n wherever it feels necessary I contacted Hyundai they said drop it off at dealership until it is repaired if no loaner was available then I would have to rent a car now thatās not even feasible considering I might not even get it back rent a car indefinitely thatās ridiculous and expensive. So itās burning oil again, stahling out, has no power sometimes when u hit gas, oil smells of gas as well as my dipstick smells of gas as well.
While driving car started beeping and making noises - check engine light, brake light, lcd displayed brake warning and flashed "hybrid system warning! safely stop and do not drive". Brake pedal then went to floor, and engine power reduced. Re-starting the car only cleared the problem for a minute before the warning message re-occurs. Others have encountered this issue resulting in crashes. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/hyundai/sonata/2013/service-brakes-problems.php also reported here: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Hyundai/Sonata/2013/brakes/service_brakes.shtml
My fuel line is actively leaking. The dealerships told me that the car is under recall but there is no remedy at this time. At this point, I was told I am unable to drive my car and I just have to wait.
My 2013 hyundai sonata was apart of the original fuel leak recall about a year ago. I went to my local hyundai dealership and to my knowledge they "fixed" the issue. Now there is another recall with "no remedy" as of yet. My car definitely has a leak as my entire cabin smells of gas, really bad to the point of headaches and getting nauseous. If you're sitting next to my vehicle you can also smell the gas leaking. This is so dangerous for my child & I and everyone my car is near as this could catch on fire! I took my vehicle to a local repair place to fix the issue and inspect my car and thats when I was made aware that this is infact a leaking hose & is apart of the new recall. The repair place would not fix it and told me to take it to hyundai, they also failed my inspection. I contacted hyundai in limerick pa and they said there is no solution or fix for it but then they said they would repair it but not under warranty and I would need to pay a couple hundred dollars to repair it which I cannot and should not have to do. Meanwhile my car is still not inspected due to this and is not legal for the road. The gas smell has been going on for 9 days, I have many witnesses including the repair shop. They kept all of it on file should I need to pursue legal help.
The fuel line is leaking fuel. I was put at risk because it can cause an engine fire while driving.
While driving the car flashed "Hybrid System Warning! Safely stop and do not drive" and immediately shut off propulsion. I was able to coast just enough to get off to the side of the road. Now the warning comes up as soon as the engine kicks on to charge the hybrid system and the car will not move. If I wasn't in the right hand lane on the highway this could've caused an accident. This happened once in December 2021 with about 86000 miles and went away after letting the car sit for about 30 minutes. It happened again today July 21, 2022 and left me stranded. The car is unusable as of now.
I smelled gasoline in my car every time the car was idle and when I turned on the AC. I googled everything I could but could not figure out the problem. I had to drive the car from Miami to Orlando while this issue was going on (due to me attending school in Miami and living in Orlando). I dropped it to Tire Plus the same day I arrived in ORL & they called me on Sunday morning, stating that I should not be driving the car, it is a hazard because of the issue they identified. Shortly after (about 10 min after that phone call from Tire Plus) I found out that there has been a recall for this same issue tire Plus identified. I called tire plus and told them it is a recall and they said I must get the car to Hyundai to be fixed since it is identified as a recall. I went on Hyundais website and typed in the VIN number and I saw that my car qualifies for the recall. I got the car towed to Hyundai the next day. I called corporate, corporate notified me that after about 4 days of my car being in Hyundaiās care Iād be able to get a loaner (previously, I called numerous Hyundaiās but went with the one who had loaners available). It has been 7 days and Iam without a vehicle and I travel to school on the weekends. My case was escalated (last Wednesday I believe) and we were told by the case manager that he was going to reach out to Hyundai then give us a call⦠he gave us a call but did not reach out to Hyundai. He was also supposed to give us a call today (Monday) but itās 3PM, I havenāt heard anything. So, I called him and left a message since he did not answer. Not to mention that Hyundai had no remedy for the recall on the car. It seems like they have no interest in compensating me in any way. They would rather drag out the situation and mention the need for me to fix other things on the car, other than the hazard at hand (the recall). It is quite frustrating and Iām not sure what to do at this point.
The car start over but was unable to keep power upon hitting gas pedal. The seatbelt would unlatch. The back break lights wouldnāt shut off after turning off engine causing the car battery to lose power.
On May 7th 2022 my 2013 Hyundai Sonata engine caught fire just driving down the road. I had only bought it 2 months prior. Smoke started coming pouring out of the vents and I had to pull over and have the fire department put it out. Hyundai has looked at it and offered to pay off my loan but I gave $4000.00 cash down and now that is lost. They won't cover that. Will there be another class action lawsuit ?
I was notified of two recalls on my vehicle. I am the second owner of the vehicle but need to know if I am able to get these recalls fixed without paying out of pocket.
I was driving on the way home doing 55 mph with my kids and the car started to slow down and light began to pop up on the dashboard. The car shut off. I tried to restart it it wouldnāt restart. I called a tow truck as I was waiting in 100 degree weather with two kids someone tried to give me a jumpstart how ever when they tried to jump start it we noticed smoke coming from the hood. I went to a part store and brought another battery. Thinking itās the battery I put the new battery in. Car still would not start. And smoke arised again as Iām Still waiting for tow truck for 7 hours @10pm tow truck finally comes. Tow truck takes car to my residence. The next day I call Carvana and silverrock they tow the car to a dealer then call me and tell me the repairs would not be covered. Even though I havenāt had the car for a two full months. I spent my entire pay check. The Mechanic from Firestone tells me itās a starter. I get the starter fixed 804$ and The next day the same thing happens again only this time my car began to smoke much more. Iāve never experienced anything like this. Iām also paying a car note on this car and I put down more than 4000$. Can somebody please get me out of this lemon. This should not be legal.
The car cut off while I was driving. Had it towed to a repair shop, and they said the engine had seized up. Found out that the vehicle was affected by a recall involving the engine having debris left inside at the factory which causes restricted oil flow. I had the car towed to the dealer, and they claimed the engine failed due to "neglect." They didn't inspect for any recalls, and I was charged.
FUEL IN ENGINE. ENGINE FAILURE. had car towed to hyundai of louisvile dealership due to recall on may 20,2022.as of today the dealer has not even began to do anything toward my car. i was told it may take up to 8 weeks before they could even look at my car. I was given a clain number from hyundai #19842116 and a case worker who has not helped at all. I was also denied a loaner from the dearlership
For about a month, while driving lights go off during the night, MOST recently the lights and car shut off DURING the ride home!! No flashers working! When we attempted to move the steering wheel locked and would not go into drive! Feels like something was stuck, further inspection NOTHING WAS STUCK! when I fuel up the car seizes in the middle of my drives!
I am writing to report a safety concern and recall issue with Hyundai Motors . October 2021 - I took my car into Braman Hyundai 2060 NE 2nd Avenue Miami FL 33137 305-571-1225 for a few issues including the following recall : 189 HYUNDAI SONATA 2013: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. April 26th 2022- I notice a strong smell of gasoline inside my car. April 27th 2022 - I bring my car into Braman Hyundai 2060 NE 2nd Avenue Miami FL 33137 305-571-1225. I am notified by the dealership there if a fuel leak and it will cost me $700 out of pocket . I clarify with the customer care representative : āThe issue that is present now in regards to a gas fuel leak , is the SAME issue as the recall?ā The representative confirms this is correct , and advises me to contact corporate directly as they cannot perform a recall twice . There is a chance the recall can be covered if corporate overrides this with her manager . I proceed to call and report my issue to corporate . Corporate and the dealership refused to assume responsibility for the repairs and failed to provide paperwork for initial recall . I am deeply disappointed and do not feel safe or comfortable driving my car anymore after a gas leak was present that was failed to be addressed back in October 2021 under the existing recall . I hate to imagine my life being put at risk in accident or death because of a serious fire risk . My occupation requires me to drive for a living , and I take my safety and the safety of others on the road very seriously . This is a Hyundai Motors manufacturer issue , but because of some strange recall technicality and the initial work not being done properly , I am being held responsible for the repairs in addition to my life being put as risk . Due to this experience , I will not be returning to this dealership and refuse to make any further business or recommendation for Hyundai Motors as a trusted vehicle source.
The fuel has a gas leak
Engine light flashing oil light flashing car cut off while I was driving on the road with my daughter In the car
There was previously a smell of fuel in the driver's compartment approximately 2 days prior to the incident and subsequently, a service appointment was made with the service department at the local dealership. On the date of the incident, the vehicle was being driven when smoke appeared in the interior of the vehicle. Driver pulled out of traffic into an empty parking lot where the car then became increasingly engulfed in flames. Local Fire Department came and extinguished flames, but car appears to be a total loss.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, with a build date of November 15, 2012. There is a NHTSA campaign, number 20V121000, that corresponds with Hyundai recall 189. The recall describes a fuel leak on the top of the engine, as well as "increasing the risk of engine compartment fire". My vehicle is currently experiencing the exact issue stated in the recall. According to the part 573 safety recall report 20V-121, the affected vehicles were produced at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama with the production dates of November 26, 2012 - January 16, 2014, meaning I missed the "cut off" by 11 days. With that being said, local Hyundai dealerships and Hyundai cooperate with not perform the recall nor will the allow me to purchase the affected part so I can make the repair myself. In the mean time I am stuck with a vehicle that is leaking fuel onto the top of my engine, and fumes filling the cabin of my vehicle.
After purchasing my vehicle my engine seized and needed to be replaced in 01/2021. Recently my car started to smell like gasoline, I am told it is an issue with the fuel pump on the engine. There is gasoline going all over the engine making it a big fire hazard.
Vehicle shut off while driving on the freeway while gas gauge showed 1/4 tank full. There was no warning light indicator or anything. Vehicle would not turn back on until additional gas was added to the gas tank. The vehicle shutting off unexpectedly is dangerous to not only myself and my passengers but other drivers around me as well. Gas gauge also does not reflect accurately when gas is being added to the tank. Called the dealer and explained that this is an issue in other 2013 Hyundai Sonata and they said itās not vin number specific and refused to service it.
Engine replaced by Hyundai for recall 4/2021. Gas is leaking from high presser pipe directly on top of the engine. Hyundai customer service says I did not meet requirements for Recall 180. Dealer who replaced engine says covered by warranty and could be faulty part and not installation issue. Teen drivers could have been killed driving the car when gas, leaking directly onto the engine, started smoking. They stopped vehicle before gas could spark. We have video of gas leak when car not running. Medlin Hyundai in Rocky Mount said gas was "spewing from the high pressure pipe onto the engine".
My vehicle has seven recalls on Kelley blue book online everything it says on the Honda website is whatās happening with my car the check check engine light on smoking at the tail pipe exhaust smoke excessive leaking oil suspension seatbelt and no one is helping me at the local dealership Hyundai dealership theyāve been putting me off for months this is a very dangerous situation to have my children in the car I cannot work due to this situationI am a driver for Uber etc.
While driving down the street noticed several people blowing and yelling āyour car is on fire ā I was able to steer the car to the right, brakes were gone, as I jumped out, the front of the car was fully Engulfed in flames. The front of the car was totally destroyed by fire.
JUST CUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING
I DO NOTICE SOMETIMES WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS, THE CAR LOOSES ENERGY, DON'T ACCELERATE. IT'S LIKE THE CAR MPH GOES DOWN TO ZERO WHILE I'M DRIVING THE CAR WHICH IS SCARY. I STEP ON GAS, AND IT DON'T MOVE, THEN IT PICKS UP AND SPEED OFF.
THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON 4/23/21 WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET AND BECAME INOPERABLE. THE BATTERY WAS JUMPED OFF AND SOME WIRES STARTED SMOKING AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE, AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. ONCE THE NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED, THE ENGINE LIGHTS BLINKED CONTINUOUSLY, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED ON 4/25/21. THE VEHICLE STARTED AND WAS TAKEN FOR A TEST DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND RAN FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE IT BEGAN PRODUCING A KNOCKING SOUND. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY, AND WHEN IT WAS STARTED AGAIN, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE COASTED TO THE DRIVEWAY OF THE RESIDENCE, THEN NEEDED TO BE PUSHED BACK INTO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND MADE A CLICKING SOUND. WIRES WERE ALSO SMOKING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP ON 4/26/21 FOR DIAGNOSTICS.

I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY HOME AND MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED FOR NO APPARENT REASON.I JUMPED START THE CAR FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO REACH A AUTO ZONE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY SO I BUY A NEW $160 BATTERY FOR THE CAR TO STILL NOT WORK AND TURN BACK ON. ITS LIKE IT WOULD START BUT IT WOULD NOT FULLY TURN ALL THE WAY ON. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 5 DAYS AGO AND ITS ALREADY STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.
I CAN'T PUT GAS IN THE TANK OR IT WILL LEAK OUT ALL OVER THE GROUND
I'M GETTING A CODE P1326 AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT TAKING THE GAS AND CAN'T DRIVE IT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE; DELIVERY HOSE LINES/ PIPING AND FITTING.
5 HOURS INTO A 6 HOURS HIGHWAY DRIVE, NO ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED, APPROACHING A FLYOVER AT I-10E AND THE BELTWAY EAST I WAS DOING 70MPH, ABOUT HALFWAY UP NORTHBOUND APPROACH I LOST ACCELERATION, ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH APPEARED TO ILLUMINATE, THE RADIO CONTINUED TO PLAY, APPEARS THAT POWER STEERING CONTINUED TO WORK. AFTER COASTING DOWN FLYOVER I PULLED TO THE RIGHT, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IT STARTED UP FINE, I DROVE OFF THE BELTWAY TO THE FEEDER/SERVICE ROAD AND THIS HAPPENED ONCE MORE. I PULLED INTO PARKING LOT AND WAS ABLE TO PUT IN PARK AND START WITH NO ISSUE. NEITHER TIME DID I EVER SEE A CONSTANT WARNING LIGHT OF ANY KIND ON MY DASH. THE CAR HAS 99K MILES AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER, TAKEN TO DEALER 95 PERCENT OF TIME FOR MAINTENANCE.

MY CAR BURNS BULBS LIKE CRAZY. WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE MY TAIL LIGHT, I NOTICED THAT IT HAD COUGHT ON FIRE. IVE PUT 6 HEADLIGHT BULBS BOTH HIGH AND LOW BEEMS IN MY CAR IN THE LADT 2 YRS.. AND CHANGED MY TAIL LIGHT 2 TIMES. TAIL LIGHT HAD CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED. NOT COOL..
HYBRID DRIVE SYSTEM ALARMED AND THEN FAILED ON FREEWAY CAUSING CAR TO ROLL TO STOP.. 12V SYSTEM FAILED W/NO EMERGENCY FLASHERS, LIGHTS OR 12 VOLT ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. ALL NON-OPERATIVE.

Mileage: 230,000
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I'VE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL DOWN AND THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN OTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLES WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL STOPPER AND I'M WONDERING IF MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA IS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS RECALLED ON MANY OTHER VEHICLES.
Mileage: 104,000
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING, VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OVER 20 MILES PER HOUR AND JUMPS. STARTED SUDDENLY WHEN IN MOTION ON ROAD.
Mileage: 170,000
EVERY TIME THAT I DRIVE MY VEHICLE MY CAR STALLS AND IT ALMOST CAUSE ME TO WRECK. I HAD FUEL PUMP PROBLEM IN WHICH I SPENT OVER $1,000 TO GET FIXED IS STILL HAVING ISSUES AND THE HYUNDAI WILL NOT REFUND ME MY MONEY KNOWING THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAS A RECALL. THEY HAVE CONSTANTLY BEEN GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND.
MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS OVER 150,000 MILES ON IT AND I KEPT UP MY MAINTENANCE. MY ENGINE HAS SEIZED MORE THAN ONCE. MY VEHICLE NEVER LET ME KNOW I WAS ON EMPTY, MY DASHBOARD SHOWED ME I HAD 3 LINES OF FUEL BUT IT WOULD NOT START UNTIL I PUT GAS. WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY ENGINE SEIZED, I CHECKED MY OIL AND I HAD ZERO FUEL, THIS WAS A MONTH AFTER MY OIL CHANGE. THE SECOND TIME MY ENGINE SEIZED I WAS TURNING ON A CITY STREET AND I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE MY ENGINE SEIZED AGAIN. FOR SOME REASON, MY FUEL JUST DISAPPEARS WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS.
Mileage: 154,000
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE PUSHING OF THE ACCELERATOR THEREBY EITHER SLOWING DOWN OR HESITATING CREATING SCARY AND HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS ON THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT HIGH SPEEDS OR ON THE CITY ROADS IN SLOW TRAFFIC. THE BEHAVIOR IS UNPREDICTABLE AND UNCONTROLLABLE. ALSO, THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT TOUCHED WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. UPON RESEARCH ON LINE, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE BUT HAS HAPPENED TO A NUMBER OF HYUNDAI VEHICLES. IT SEEMS THIS HAS TO DO WITH EITHER THE RUBBER STOPPER OF THE BRAKE SWITCH OR THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKE SWITCH OR BOTH. I CALLED HYUNDAI AND WAS INFORMED THAT NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT THE WARRANTY ON THE STOPPER HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 15 YEARS AND UNLIMITED MILES. THEY SHOULD EXTEND THIS WARRANTY NOT JUST TO THE STOPPER BUT TO THE WHOLE SWITCH ASSEMBLY. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT HYUNDAI HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY BUT IS NOT INFORMING THE OWNERS OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF THIS ASSEMBLY. IN REALITY THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO REPLACE THIS ASSEMBLY.

DRIVING MY CAR 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA FROM NYC TO OHIO, CAR OVERHEATED AND SHUT DOWN ON INTERSTATE 80 WEST BOUND POLICE MANDATED A TOW TO NEARBY MECHANIC WHERE THEY SAID MY THERMOSTAT ALONG WITH THERMOSTAT HOUSING WAS FRIED UP. IT WAS REPLACED ONLY TO 3 MONTHS LATER CAR OVERHEATED AGAIN, ALONG WITH GAS SMELLS IN THE AIR VENTS, AND STALLING AS WELL AS TOTAL ENGINE POWER LOSS. HOWEVER, COUPLE MONTHS LATER, RECALL 189 WAS ISSUED BUT DIDN'T RESOLVE OVERHEATING ISSUE, IN FACT MADE THE CAR REACTED MORE NEGATIVELY. ONE MORE MONTH LATER I WAS NOTIFIED OF HYUNDAI THETA ENGINE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT SETTLEMENT AND PURSUED NEARBY DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY WOULD DIAGNOSE IT, WHICH SHOWED 7 CODERS SHOWING MISFIRE AND ONE FOR BATTERY FAULTY AND ONE FOR THE GAS RAIL AND PIPES. MY DEALERSHIP DIDN'T NOTIFY HYUNDAI THAT I MENTIONED MY CAR HAD BEEN STALLING, SHUTTING ITSELF DOWN A FEW TIMES AND HYUNDAI DENIED MY CLAIM FOR REPAIRS UNDER THIS SETTLEMENT WHICH IS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE. THERE IS EXTREMELY SOMETHING FAULTY WITH THE GAS PIPING ON THIS ENGINE

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A HIGHWAY, APPROXIMATELY 7:15AM I STARTED SMELLING SOMETHING BURNING. MY CAR WAS BUCKING. I WENT TO PULL OVER WHEN MY CAR TURNED A SHARP RIGHT INTO TREES. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY CONSUMED BY FLAMES.

FULL ENGINE SHUTDOWN WHILE GOING 70 ON THE HIGHWAY., NO BRAKES, GAS, STEERING WHEEL, BUT SURPRISINGLY I WAS ABLE TO ROLL SAFELY TO A STOP WITHOUT COMING IN CONTACT WITH ANYTHING/ONE. HYUNDAI AGREED THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED SO THEY REPLACED IT BUT NOT THE INITIAL ISSUE OF THE FUEL FEED LINE.(WHICH I GOT A RECALL IN THE MAIL THE NEXT DAY FOR A FUEL LINE) HYUNDAI HAS NOT GIVEN ME AN ESTIMATED TIME FRAME IN WHEN THIS RECALL WILL BE FIXED. KINDA SCARY TO DRIVE AROUND IN....

THE STEERING WHEEL COUPLE HAS FAILED , MAKES THE STEERING WHEEL FEEL LIKES IT CATCHES AND DOESNT WANT TO TURN. MAKES LOUD NOISE 2ND THE ENGINE WILL NOT ACCELERATE SOMETIME UNTIL YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON . THE STEERING IS ALL THE TIME. THE DEAD THROTLE PEDAL IS INTERMITANT

MY CAR CONSUMES A LOT OF OIL AND GAS.. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT STAY OFF. MY GAS CAP WILL NOT CLICK AT ALL FOR SOME REASON. I BELIEVE THIS CAR IS MALFUNCTIONING AND HAS RUINED MY ENGINE. MY CAR STARTED RATTLING REALLY LOUD WHILE ACCELERATING ON A BUSY ROAD, I WAS SCARED.
Mileage: 30
MY CAR HAS LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED 3 TIMES. LUCKILY IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON A ROAD AND NOT THE HIGHWAY. THERE ARE OTHER TIMES WHEN I'M STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND I CAN FEEL THE CAR LOSING POWER AND/OR SPUTTERING. THE CAR WILL TURN ON AFTER TRYING A FEW TRIES AND WILL HAVE THE ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL ALERTS LIGHTS ON. SOMETIMES I WILL HAVE TO KEEP PUSHING ON THE GAS WHILE STEPPING ON THE BREAK TO KEEP THE ENGINE REVVING SO THE CAR DOESN'T DIE. THE ARE ALSO TIMES WHEN IT SEEMS THE CAR LOSES POWER MOMENTARILY THEN KEEPS GOING. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS.

ON 02/28/2020 I RECEIVED A NOTICE (HYUNDAI RECALL #189,NHTSA RECALL #20V-121) OF A DEFECT IN THE FUEL FEED LINE THAT COULD RESULT IN AN ENGINE FIRE. OVER 4 MONTHS LATER, HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA ADVISES THAT "WE ARE CURRENTLY PREPARING A REMEDY." IT WOULD SEEM THAT OVERCOMING THE RISK OF AN ENGINE FIRE WOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH MUCH MORE URGENCY SINCE BODILY INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE ARE AT STAKE.CAN YOU ASSIST IN SPEEDING UP THE DETERMINATION OF A REMEDY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V121000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE RECALL WAS NOT ABLE TO BE COMPLETED DUE PART TO THE REPAIR BEING UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THEY WOULD SMELL A BURNING ORDER COMING FROM THE VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT INITIALLY DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER :20V121000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). JONES BEL AIR HYUNDAI (1504 BELAIR RD, BEL AIR, MD 21014) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AND A NEW MOTOR AND FUEL LINE WAS PLACED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO START AS AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD. ON MAY 18, 2020, UPON ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, WHITE SMOKE BEGAN TO EMIT FROM THE HOOD. THE CONTACT THEN EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AS FLAMES BEGAN TO EMIT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED, THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AND A FIRE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JONES BEL AIR HYUNDAI AND AN INSURANCE INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,800.

I AM INQUIRING ABOUT AN "OPEN RECALL" ON MY 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS. THE OFFICIAL RECALL TITLE IS "CAMPAIGN 189" IT INVOLVES THE "FUEL LINE" AND COULD LEAD TO A POSSIBLE FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN EARLY JUNE FROM "GETTEL HYUNDAI/ BEE RIDGE IN SARASOTA,FL. LOOKING UP THE RECALL INFORMATION--IT WAS LISTED AS "NO REMEDY AVAILABLE." THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED ON 3/4/20... AND ACCORDING TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMEDIED BY APRIL. AS I WRITE THIS WE ARE INTO JULY! I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI OF AMERICA CORPORATE OFFICES AS WELL AS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. NEITHER COULD GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS AS TO WHEN THIS ISSUE COULD BE ADDRESSED??? ALL I WAS TOLD IS THAT IF I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE THAT CONCERNS CAMPAIGN 189... IT WILL REPAIRED--OF COURSE--FREE OF CHARGE. SO I GUESS IF MY ENGINE CATCHES ON FIRE ON A HIGHWAY SOME NIGHT--IT'LL BE TAKEN CARE OF?? I WANT THE RECALL ISSUE OF MY CAR ADDRESSED NOW !!! NO MORE RUN-AROUND AND STUPID SCENARIOS---FIX THE CAR. WHATEVER YOU CAN DO FOR ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED . THANK YOU [XXX] SARASOTA, FL INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

CHUG SPITS AND EXTREME LOSS OF POWER. AS IF NO FUEL TO ENGINE. PUMP THE PEDAL EVENTUALLY AGAIN POWER. IT ALSO HAS STOPPED COMPLETELY WHILE MAKING A TURN VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD THE FUEL FILTER REPLACED; THIS SHOWS GOOD COMPRESSION WHILE SITTING AND RUNNING. BUT ON THE ROAD COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND NOW I SMELL GAS, YET COMPRESSION SHOWS NO ISSUE. *TR

LATE APRIL NOTICED GAS ODOR COMING FROM CAR AFTER TURNING IT OFF. HYUNDAI WEBSITE INDICATED RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE - CAMPAIGN 189. CONTACTED HYUNDAI TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET FIXED. THIS IN PART THEIR RESPONSE: OUR RECORDS INDICATE THAT YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT AFFECTED BY CAMPAIGN 189. MADE APPOINTMENT WITH REGULAR ASE-CERTIFIED MASTER TECHNICIAN. HE IDENTIFIED THE FUEL LEAK AND NOTED ON INVOICE: ACTIVE FUEL LEAK PRESENT, ABOVE FUEL TANK, PROBABLE CRACKED FUEL PUMP MODULE. IF SO PUMP REPLACEMENT ESTIMATE IS $750 (HYUNDAI PUMP/SEAL, LABOR, TAX). FUEL LEAK IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, FIRE HAZARD, RAW FUEL JUST LOOKING FOR AN IGNITION SOURCE. I NOTIFIED HYUNDAI OF CONFIRMED DEFECT. THIS IS IN PART THEIR RESPONSE: WE ARE SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU STILL HAVE CONCERNS REGARDING YOUR 2013 HYUNDAI SONATA AND THAT FROM THE INFORMATION YOU RECEIVED FROM AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY. HOWEVER, BASED UPON THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDED, WE RECOMMEND YOU SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF YOUR LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO HAVE YOUR 2013 SONATA INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED. AS THE ATTACHED REPAIR ORDER YOU SENT IN DOES NOT SHOW THAT THE DIAGNOSTICS WHERE FROM A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, HOWEVER, HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE CENTER IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OVER THE PHONE OR THROUGH EMAIL. OUR DEALERSHIPS ARE ALSO THE BEST-TRAINED AND MOST-QUALIFIED TO SERVICE AND MAINTAIN YOUR HYUNDAI VEHICLE. ONLY AUTHORIZED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIPS CAN DETERMINE WHETHER THE REPAIR IN QUESTION WOULD BE COVERED BY BOTH WARRANTY AND/OR CAMPAIGNS OFFERED BY HYUNDAI THAT ARE VIN SPECIFIC. PLEASE NOTE THAT EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA WILL NO LONGER CONSIDER ANY GOODWILL FOR ANY INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY REPAIRS REGARDLESS OF THE SITUATION. THIS WAS PUT INTO EFFECT AS OF 4/1/2020. TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE REQUIRING HYUNDAI ATTENTION. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING TO HOUSTON TEXAS ON APRIL 17, 2020 WHEN I NOTICED MY SERVICE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WENT ON. I HAD JUST PASSED SWEETWATER TEXAS SO I DRIVE TO THE NEAREST AUTOZONE WHICH WAS LOCATED AT STORE #1367 311 E COMMERCE, BROWNWOOD, TEXAS 76801AND HAD IT CHECKED THEY SAID IT WAS FUEL RAIL SYSTEM PRESSURE WAS TOO LOW. THIS IS WHEN I DISCOVERED IT HAD A RECALL ON IT FOR THE SAME THING. DO I NEED TO RETURN TO DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT FROM AND ARE THEY RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING CAR AS IS WITH A RECALL ON IT. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED ONE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED VEHICLE. I'M STILL DRIVING VEHICLE AND DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT REPAIRED MYSELF. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE TIME OF ALL THIS. *TR

HAVE ISSUED TRAFIC SAFETY RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED WHEN I HAD MY CAR EMMISSIONS TESTED FOR PLATES, NHTSA#20V-121000; CALLED DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE FUEL HOSE REPLACED; SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME AND TO CALL BACK LATER; WHY ISSUE RECALL NOTICES THAT CANNOT BE FIXED AND WASTE MY TIME? CALLED HORNE HYUNDAI IN APACHE JUNCTION AZ THIS AM TO NO RESOLVE.
WHEN I STOP TO GET GAS AND I TRY TO START THE CAR AFTERWARDS. IT DOESNT START THE FIRST TIME I PUSH THE BUTTON. I HAVE TO PUSH THE BUTTON. THEN LET IT GO BECAUSE IT DOESNT START. THEN PUSH IT A SECOND TIME FOR IT TO START. IT IS ONLY AFTER GETTING GAS. IT WORKS OK MOST OTHER TIMES. I AM NOT STOPPING GAS OFF.

THE ENGINE SEIZED ON JULY 31 WHILE ON VACATION. WE WERE DRIVING INTO MERCED, CA, ON HIGHWAY 140, AND HAD ACCELERATED TO PASS A LINE OF CARS WHEN THE ENGINE QUIT. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD AAA TOW IT INTO MERCED HYUNDAI. HYUNDAIUSA AGREED IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT AND PAID FOR THE REPLACEMENT, AND ULTIMATELY A RENTAL CAR FOR US TO USE (THEY ALSO REIMBURSED THE COST OF THE RENTAL WE HAD TO USE BEFORE THEY AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR). THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT THAT DEALERSHIP (AFTER 5 WEEKS OF CALLING JUST ABOUT EVERY DAY AND BEING IGNORED). WE PICKED IT UP ON SEPT. 6. ONCE AT HOME, A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL RAIL WAS DISCOVERED. OUR LOCAL DEALER 'FIXED' IT, AND WHEN WE PICKED IT UP THE TURBO NO LONGER WORKED AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER QUIT FUNCTIONING. WE ARE TRYING TO GET THE DEALER TO FIX IT OR BUY IT BACK AT THEIR COST, SINCE WE FEEL IT WAS NEGLIGENCE ON THEIR PART. WE LOVED THE CAR BEFORE THE ENGINE SEIZED, BUT SINCE THE 'REPAIR,' IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE.

AFTER FILLING MY CAR UP WITH FUEL I WILL SMELL GAS VERY STRONG INSIDE THE CAR. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. SO, I NO LONGER FILL UP THE GAS TANK. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME WHAT IT WAS AND NOT TO FILL THE TANK. CAR WAS IN PARK AT THE GAS STATION NOT MOVING.
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE HYUNDIA DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL FOR HEAVY OIL CONSUMPTION; THEY TOLD ME THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT BECAUSE IT WAS CLOGGED, I TOLD THEM IF IT WAS CLOGGED IT WAS DUE TO THE OIL LOSS THAT MADE IT WAY INTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE HYUNDIA CORPORATION REFUSED TO FIX THE ENGINE OR CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

HELLO. MY CAR STARTED TO GET A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT. THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT I COULD BARELY BREATH BECAUSE THE SMALL OF GAS WAS SO STRONG. I OPENED UP THE HOOD AND I SAW GAS SPILLING ALL OVER MY ENGINE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. THE MAIN GAS LINE FROM THE TANK WAS LEAKING MOST OF THE GAS OVER THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR WAS OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS. I THINK HYUNDAI SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THESE DEFECTIVE GAS LINES ARE THE REASON WHY SO MANY OF THESE CARS ARE CATCHING FIRE.

THE CAR WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO START MY CAR AND SMELLED OVERWHELMING GAS FUMES. MY FUEL IS BEING DEPLETED QUICKER THAN NORMAL AND THE SMELL HAS ONLY INTENSIFIED OVER TIME. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD, I SAW WHAT LOOKED LIKE FUEL BEING SPEWED OUT FROM THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. I TOOK MY CAR TO HYUNDAI AND WAS GIVEN A $800 QUOTE TO FIX THE PART AND WAS NEVER ALERTED TO THE FACT THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL RELATED TO THIS MATTER.
SINCE BUYING THIS CAR AS 2ND OWNER I HAVE REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE BULB 5 TIMES IN 1 YR. THE WIRING SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE. LAST WEEK CAR LITERALLY DOESN'T START WHEN TRYING TO IT SPUTTERS AND THEN I HAVE TO CUT IT OFF TO GO FINALLY GET IT TO START. TODAY IT TURNED OVER BUT SPUTTERING CONTINUES 2 MORE TIMES WHEN TRY TO TO START, THEN 3RD TIME IT CRANKS.

I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER, AND AT THAT TIME , MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY FILLED WITH BLACK SMOKE, AND THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED, FOOT WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR COASTED UNTIL IT FINALLY STOPPED. BY THIS TIME, THE CAR WAS IN FIRE. I WAS ABLE TO EXIT BEFORE IT COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THERE WAS NO WARNING TO ME THAT THIS CAR WAS GOING TO START ON FIRE. I HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO BECAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE. TWO ENGINES IN 6 YEARS IS DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THAT CAR.. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY SERVICED THE VEHICLE PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL CAMPAIGN; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE PART REPLACED WAS A NEWLY DESIGNED OEM ENGINE ASSEMBLY. AFTER THE DEALER'S REPAIR, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PERMANENT REMEDY. I HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS BRAKE LIGHTS AND THEY KEEP GETTING MELTED AND BURNT OUT. IM NOT SURE IF ITS THE ELECTRICAL WIRING OR THE ACTUAL HOUSING OF THE BRAKE LIGHT ITSELF BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. I SEE NUMEROUS OF THE SAME CARS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. ALSO DURING SUMMER MONTHS YOU CAN SMELL STRONG GAS FUMES THROUGHOUT THE CAR. AS IF I WAS DIRECTLY BREATHING IN GAS. ITS THAT BAD. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE VENTED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME, WHO GET DIZZY AND SICK. THIS IS WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE PARKED.
CAR DIED AT A LEFT TURN INTERSECTION AFTER COMING TO A STOP, CAR WOULD TEMPORARILY RESTART ONLY TO DIE SECONDS LATER. TESTED FOR ERROR CODES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED FROM THE TURN LANE AND NO ERRORS CAME UP.

I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE JULY OF 2017 AND ABOUT 3 MONTHS INTO OWNING IT I NOTICED A LOSS IN POWER DURING ACCELERATION. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHILE IT'S PARKED, AFTER IT'S BEEN DRIVEN, THE CAR MAKES A POPPING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AREA. RECENTLY I WAS WAITING IN TRAFFIC AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE CAR SHUDDERED AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF BUT THEN SMOOTHED OUT. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE DURING IDLING SINCE THEN. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE CAR DOESN'T SHIFT SMOOTHLY.

AFTER HITTING THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON, AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR WENT TO IDLE WITHOUT WARNING, THEN BACK TO CRUISE THEN BACK TO IDLE AND STAYED ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN BACK TO CRUISE, THEN BACK TO IDLE. HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT ISSUING A RECALL. THE PROBLEM ALMOST CAUSE A CRASH WITH CARS GOING AROUND US. IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE.

SONATA & SANTA FE SPORT ENGINE RECALL / SANTA FE & SONATA ENGINE CONTROL MODULE SERVICE CAMPAIGN. MY CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED AND SERVICED FOR BOTH THESE ISSUES IN 2015 & 2017. BOTH ISSUES RELATE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED THESE ISSUES AGAIN FOR THE PAST MONTH. 1)A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE THAT INCREASES IN FREQUENCY AS THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES. 2)REDUCED POWER AND/OR HESITATION. 3)ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WHEN CONTACTING HYUNDAI TO NOTIFY THEM OF THIS PROBLEM THEY STATED THAT THIS HAD ALREADY BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AND THEY ARE UNSURE THEY CAN CONSIDER THIS A RECALL OR SERVICE ISSUE AGAIN. I WOULD STILL HAVE TO PAY THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES AND SERVICE FEES IF NEEDED EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ALREADY SEEN THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURED ON THEIR PART PREVIOUSLY.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE SINGLE LANE TOLL LANE OF MOPAC EXPRESSWAY IN AUSTIN TEXAS DURING RUSH HOUR I RAN OUT OF FUEL EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL INDICATOR SHOWED APPROXIMATELY 1/4 TANK OF GAS. I CALLED 911. THE FIREMEN CAN VOUCH FOR THE FUEL GAUGE READING. I WAS LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS HURT FROM THE INCIDENT. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE.

I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER THREE TIMES FOR SERVICE TO AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM OR DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM VIA A CODE. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED THINKING THAT MIGHT ORIGINALLY BE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HESITATES IN LOWER GEARS WHEN IT IS IN EV MODE AND WILL REV AT HIGHER RPM BEFORE SLAMMING INTO GEAR WHEN IT GOES INTO GAS ENGINE MODE. WHEN COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND DECELERATING IT WILL SLAM HARD INTO GEAR AS THE CAR BRAKES AND GOES INTO EV MODE. IT IS NOT CONSISTENT AND EVERY TIME THE CAR IS BROUGHT INTO THE DEALER THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOTHING WORN WITH THE CAR AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN IN EV MODE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER SOME TIMES AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE GAS ENGINE WILL KICK IN AND ACCELERATE. I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH THE HYBRID BATTERY JUST SHUTTING DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY SO IT CONCERNS ME THAT THERE IS MORE OF AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WITH NO PRIOR WARNING AT ALL, SEVERAL LIGHTS POPPED UP ON MY DASH ALERTING ME OF AN ISSUE AND MY CAR JUST SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER CONCERNED IT MAY BE DUE TO THE ENGINE RECALL. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR AND NEVER HAD ANY INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP AT ALL EVER. IT TURNED OUT MY FUEL IN TANK PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM STILL SHOCKED THAT THIS HAPPENED WITH A 2013 MODEL CAR. I AM VERY CURIOUS IF THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAD A TOYOTA CAMRY 2002 FOR MANY YEARS AND OTHER OLDER MODEL CARS AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A FUEL IN TANK PUMP. I WAS QUOTED $750+ TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. BUT THIS COULD'VE HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS, IF I HAD TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND IN FRONT OF ME. SOMEONE WOULD HAVE EASILY HIT ME NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE ENOUGH WARNING TO STOP.

SONATA RECALL ON APRIL 14,,2017 DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON I 75 MY ENGINE EXPLODED AND I SUCCESSFULLY WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER. I HA BE SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN SENT A RECALL FROM HYUNDAI ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN AWARE OF FOR OVER 18 MONTHS. HOWEVER THE DESTRUCTION DOES NOT END THERE. HYUNDAI MOTORS OF NORTH AMERICA REPLACED THE BLOWN ENGINE WITH A NEW MODEL ENGINE AND AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AGAIN FOR 36 HOURS AND UNDER 300 MILES...THE NEW ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE TOTALLY DESTROYING MY VEHICLE AGAIN DUE TO MY DILGENCE AND THE CINCINNATI FIRE DEPARTMENT WE WERE ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH DAMAGE TO OTHER PEOPLE OR PROPERTY. HYUNDAI HAS SERIOUS QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. THE CAR WAS ON 4 TH STREET IN DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI WHEN THE FIRE BROKE OUT.

I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY SOUTHBOUND IN THE MIDDLE LANE RETURNING HOME FROM YANKEE STADIUM. WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AVOIDING SEVERAL CARS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. SEVEN WEEKS LATER I AM STILL AWAITING CAR REPAIRS FROM CIRCLE HYUNDAI IN SHREWSBURY NJ AND A COST OF OVER $400. MY ENGINE FAILED WITH BARELY 20,000 MILES.
Mileage: 20,000
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON A HIGHWAY IN THE PASSING LANE, I ABRUPTLY RECEIVED A WARNING OF "HYBRID EMERGENCY SAFELY PULL OFF ROAD" "DO NOT DRIVE". I HAD NO OTHER WARNINGS AND THE CAR GAVE ME NO TIME TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND IT JUST SHUT DOWN. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND I WAS STUCK IN THE PASSING LANE ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY.

VEHICLE RPMS STAY HIGH EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS
TAKATA RECALL" AS I WAS PARKING CAR JERK FORWARD, ENGINE REVIVED, CAR ACCELERATED LIKE A BULLET, BRAKE FAILED. (I HAD BRAKE JOB PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT) I JUMPED THE CURB AND RAN OVER SMALLER TREES. AS I WAS HEADED TOWARD BUSY HIGHWAY NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP UNTIL MY HUSBAND PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL. THE NEXT DAY I HAD TAKING THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC AND HAD FRONT END REPAIR DONE, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND THE REASON WHY IT HAPPENED. THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2017, AS I WAS GOING TO PARK THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN THAT THE CAR JERKED FORWARD, ENGINE REVIVED UP, CAR ACCELERATED AT HIGH SPEED LIKE A BULLET ON ITS OWN WITH NO ASSISTANCE OR WARNING AND BRAKE DID NOT WORK. I AM GOING TO GO AND GET IT CHECKED OUT AGAIN, BUT I AM TO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT DOES IT WITHOUT WARNING. CAR DOES IT BY ITSELF.

CAR HAS BEGUN RANDOMLY AND UNPREDICTABLY "STALLING" WHILE IN MOTION. JUST SIMPLY STOPS MOVING FORWARD FOR A FEW SECONDS , NOT RESPONDING TO GAS PEDAL . THIS HAS BEEN BOTH AS CAR STARTS FROM STOPPED POSITION AS WELL AS DURING CRUISING. BECAUSE MOST OF OUR DRIVING IS CITY, WE DO NOT KNOW IF CAR WILL STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS NOW. HUNDAI WILL NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM. WE FEEL IT IS EITHER A BAD COMPUTER OR A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE BEEN INTO HUNDAI SEVERAL TIMES

TAPPING NOISE INSIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD ON THE INITIAL START ALSO ENGINE SHAKING ONLY HAS 43000 MILES ON THE CAR ODOMETER READING
FUEL GAUGE READING PERIODICALLY SPORADIC. SAYS TANK IS ABOUT EMPTY OR MUCH LESS THAN ACTUAL AND MOVES AROUND OR CHANGES TO BEING OK. HAS ACTED UP SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS.
Mileage: 50,300
THE GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKE ARE VERY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER ON THIS CAR. IT IS VERY EASY WHEN VIEWING BLIND SPOTS DURING BACKING TO ACCIDENTALLY HAVE THE FOOT DEPRESS THE BRAKE AND THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME SO FAR 2 TIMES.

I AM UNABLE TO ACCESS THE HYUNDAI BLUE LINK SOFTWARE WHICH CONTROLS REMOTE START, ENGINE STOP, VEHICLE TRACKING AND OTHET ITEMS. HYUNDAI DEALER AND HYUNDAI MOTOR CORP REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING MAKING NTHIS VEHICLE AND ANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME FEATURE A HAZARD. IF SOMEONE HACKS INTO MY OLD EMAILACCOUNT THEY CAN REMOTELY START THE CAR IN OUR GARAGE KILLING US, OR REMOTELY START AND UNLOCK THE DORRS ANYWHERE AND THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY AND THE CORPORATE EXECUTIVES WHO HAVE ALLOWED THIS TO CONTINUE BE BROUGHT UP ON CRIMINAL CHARGES. THE CAR IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH SUMMER ONLY TIRES IN THE MIDWEST? UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN ANY COLD WEATHER WITH SNOW OR ICE.
