The rubber stopper for the brake light switch on the brake pedal deteriorated and fell apart. This resulted in the brake lights remaining on constantly, cruise control being disabled, and low battery voltage.

The car has had an electrical issue ever since taking to to get a recall around may of 2023. It will randomly brake and shift the transmission badly while downshifting. I feel as if my make and model falls under the theta II campaign they had to replace certain engines for having a knocking rod be fault and release shaving into the engine causing it to misfire. Not only that but the electrical issue is completely random it happens atleast once or twice a week. It had began ever since I took it for a recall, and when I took it back they found no issue and left food in the back of my car and the chairs leaned back. This was the Fontana Hyundai dealership

My 2015 Hyundai Sonata has demonstrated multiple instances of unintended acceleration and braking failure: April 20, 2024 – While idling in a drive-thru line, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward without any attempt to accelerate and crashed into the vehicle in front of me. I was unable to stop it. This resulted in the other car being totaled. I took it to a Hyundai dealership afterward, but they found no definitive cause. April 4, 2025 – My daughter was driving and attempted to stop at a red light. Despite applying the brakes, the car did not stop and continued through the intersection, striking the door of another vehicle. May 12, 2025 – Today, while using cruise control set to 55 mph, the car began accelerating beyond the set speed without input. It appears the cruise control system is malfunctioning and not disengaging as expected. The vehicle currently shows no open recalls, but I found that similar issues were previously investigated under NHTSA action DP21003 for this model year. These incidents occurred months apart, but the behavior is consistent and extremely dangerous. I am requesting a formal investigation. The safety of my family and others on the road is at risk.

Location: [XXX] Description of Incident: On a rainy morning, while driving to work, I encountered a sudden lane cut-off by a speeding truck as I exited a school zone. I applied the brakes to avoid a forward collision, but the brake system failed entirely. This resulted in the loss of vehicle traction, causing the car to spin out uncontrollably. The vehicle collided with an island, bounced into oncoming traffic, and sustained severe damage, including: •Tires ripped off the rims •Front axle damage Injuries: I sustained a lightly sprained neck as a result of the incident. Vehicle History: The vehicle had been in the custody of the Hyundai dealership just days prior to this incident for an engine/powertrain recall and replacement. The dealership held the car for over a week to address the issue. However, shortly after retrieving the vehicle, the brake failure occurred. Observations and Concerns: •The brake failure occurred after recent service by the manufacturer dealership. •Hyundai vehicles are known to have documented brake system issues, which may have contributed to this incident. •This failure nearly resulted in a life-threatening accident. Action Requested: I am requesting an investigation into the service performed during the recall and the brake system failure. I took the car for 4 recalls it had 2 of which were physical and the other two were software according to them. Took the car back to drop someone off, turned it off and then on; it began losing and breaking on its own at slow rpm’s slamming on the breaks. a minute later after having turned the corner I turned on my hazards and it had continued to randomly happen to the car. It is not consistent it is completely random and I have had a mechanic only inspect it while it happened once because I’ve only been able to have it happen while being inspected out of luck . I’ve gotten several error codes to the car since from p04 misfires. Evap leaks etc. the car was in pitch perfect condition and after that day it has since stopped working properly . I have photos of the mechanics that day even leaving food in the back of my car as if they just relaxed and didn’t do their job as professional as it could’ve have been . They denied anything is wrong with the car and have offered me discounted inspections after claiming nothing was wrong they gave me one free inspection and I haven’t gone back . My engine or censors are messed up. It puts my health and others at safety because it slams on the breaks unknowingly and randomly at low RPMs. The manufacturer has inspected my car and claimed it was okay although they unprofessionally left food and ate breakfast and left trash in the back. (With photo proof) . Last there was NO issues whatsoever with my car until that day. Never had a misfire . Never had a engine light . Never had a popped tire . It all began they DAY I got my car back not even an hour later. I could not return that day because it was near closing time of the dealership and the day after I went they denied it has been tampered. This happened around the beginning of July 1-8th 2023.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle veered to the right. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the brake rotors were modified, and the failure was corrected. Additionally, while driving at speeds over 65 MPH, the front driver’s side of the vehicle was shaking and vibrating abnormally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

In April 2023, I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco from Carvana with 56,000 miles. By May 2023, the mileage was around 72,000. While driving from South Houston to North Houston on [XXX], 2023, the car loudly popped as I exited the highway around 5:00 pm CST. I noticed smoke coming from the rear and parked in a construction zone near a convenience store. Upon inspection, the vehicle stopped working, and I saw a significant fluid leak underneath. A bystander alerted me to flames from the bottom and under the hood. I called 911, and the fire department arrived to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage. I later discovered that specific 2011–2015 Hyundai models had been recalled due to fire risk (NHTSA ID: 23V-651000), but this did not include the Hyundai Sonata Eco. The recall was due to the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module leaking brake fluid internally, potentially causing an electrical short and leading to a fire. I have photos and videos documenting the incident. Following the incident, I filed a claim with Travelers Insurance, and on May 28th, 2023, the vehicle was declared a total loss. While I appreciate their offer of ~$13,000, it is insufficient to cover the remaining loan balance of approximately $17,300. I am worried about the financial impact and potential danger I face due to this malfunction. The lack of information highlights the need for better consumer education. I am now looking into options to cover the remaining loan balance, acquire a new vehicle, and, most importantly, advocate for improved driver education regarding this defect. Recall notifications for Hyundai campaign 251 but no remedy available since early 2023. Finally learned a remedy was available, made online appointment with my dealership (Future Hyundai of Concord, Concord, CA) but when I arrived for my appointment, they said they did not have the part. That was April 29, 2024. I was told to follow up in a week, which I did. Part still not available. Followed up several more times to which I have not received any response. I am driving a potentially very dangerous car now awaiting this recall remedy. Last year I waited 5 months for a new Hybrid battery with similar lack of communication and delays.

Intake Camshaft, Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit and Brake Booster are the system that failed all in the same week. My safety is being put at risk because of the bad brake booster I almost rear end someone else. My car doesn’t accelerate has it should initially which could cause a wreck. Problems has been confirmed by independent service center. My car has been inspected by mechanics. My engine light is on and when diagnosed the codes P0011-00 & P0010-00 pop up.

Car was going approximately 50 miles an hour on a side street when warning lights went on, brakes stopped working, and the engine smoked and appeared to catch on fire. Car was steered into a parking lot and abruptly placed in park. Occupant grabbed valuables and quickly exited the vehicle. At that point, the front of the vehicle, under the hood went up in flames.

My hydraulic brake booster went out, Very dangerous i almost had an accident, the car doesn’t stop, there are no brakes the car would not stop I’f the hydraulic brake booster goes out you have no brakes and if you’re over 50 miles an hour the E break barely does anything it just sounds like you grinding into the ground. Very scary and I had a child in the car. Towed car to Hyundai.

The car has had multiple issues with the hybrid system. I’ve taken it to the dealership about 4-5 times. They “fix” the issue but a little while later I’m having more hybrid warming issues. This last time I took it to a different dealership, paid for a diagnostic test, and was told my hybrid system was bad but because it was repaired too many times instead of replacing it, it’s no longer covered under warranty. The issue from the last diagnostic test showed the master brake cylinder was faulty, I replaced it but I’m still having the same issue. The mechanic I took it to did their own diagnostic test and it showed there is an issue with the hydraulic booster, high pressure accumulator short term charge. When I searched the issue, I’ve found that many people are having the same issue with the same car/year as mine. I contacted the manufacturer and they are still not willing to fix it even though it is a possible defect in the car.

I would like to write about my experience with New Port Richey Hyundai. I have owned a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited since 2015. I take immaculate care of my car and it only has 65,000 miles. All maintenance has been done regularly and on time. For the last six months I have had a warning light and alarm going off for a few seconds once in a while, which shuts off my cruise control. I took the car in, in the spring of 2023 to have the codes read and no problems were found. Finally, In July of 2023, while my wife was in traffic it started again and totally shut off the car. Unfortunately, the brakes did not work as well. She was going up a slight incline and was able to come to a stop. The brake pedal went completely to the floor. The warning was about a Hybrid System Failure. It was very upsetting to her that her brakes failed when the Hybrid system had a problem. This should never happen! Once the car was towed to New Port Richey Hyundai in Florida, we were told that the car would be look after. The car was returned in the middle of July 2023 with a new electric motor installed. Everything was working fine until today, August 23, 2023. The same warning light that I brought the car in for in May 2023 is going off again. It only stays on for a second or two, so I don’t have time to read it. I really hope this car does not shut off again with no brakes when traveling on the interstate. As mentioned before the car has low miles and is well cared for. This should not be happening.

While turning in an intersection on a highway, car displayed check hybrid system and shut down. power steering could not engage so braking and turning was almost impossible. Car had to be towed, was not able to be restored

When I am driving car starts shaking a little I stop at a light and when I want to accelerate all of a sudden I step on gas and it wont drive i in middle of intersection it started shaking like it was going to turn off but didn't the check engine light came on but it never turned off i slowly accelerated and it kept driving I got to work turned it off when I turned back on the check engine light was no longer on .i have no idea what happened or why . And my brakes always make noise i had my breaks done in November they don't need replaced yet

Sensors lights would indicate an issue and would disappear sometimes without any reason (mainly Check Engine and Tire Pressure Sensors). Indicators would trigger the opposite direction (indicate right and the left indicator would turn on). Burning more fuel than expected. Primary fuel pump stopped working resulting in car stopping in the middle of the road.

Vehichle goes into limp mode on highway causing a drastic reduction in speed. Dash says hybrid alert do not drive. Loss of speed put me in danger due to loss of power and vehicle control. Dealer claims it is a bad brake booster that caused car to go into limp mode… Want to charge me 3k to fix.

When driving my 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, it will randomly start flashing and beeping at me with the saying "check brakes" Also my ABS Brake light comes on. This function only happens at random causing me to shut off my car completely and restart. It has really become a problem after I reached 112000 miles on the vehicle. I bought the vehicle with 80,000 miles. Anyone driving in my car is put at risk due to brakes not working accurately and are spongy feeling when pressed down. If I were to have to slam on brakes, I would ultimately run into another vehicle or object since the braking system during this issue does not work correctly. I have called the dealership to ask about the recall. No recall on this issue but online, similar issues have been documented.

My power steering light came on last night when I arrived from work on Saturday night. Was hoping to take it in to be looked at but the dealership I bought it from is closed till Monday at 10. Woke up Sunday for work decided to see if the light was still on but it was off but about 7 minutes into the the light came back on along with the abs light, engine light, and oil light. I believe a couple more lights came on but not sure which ones but the car stopped working and starting completely

The check engine light intermittently comes on, when on the car will stall when trying to accelerate, often accelerate when not intended, and runs rough. A second issue seems to be with the ABS system. On several occasions the ABS systems seems to engage and will not allow you to use the breaks (almost leading to several rear end collisions).

This is a follow-up to former Complaint #11450586 (05-Feb-2022) and confirms that both my local Hyundai Dealer -and- Hyundai Corporation (USA) are aware of this diagnosable- and fixable problem—but they fail to issue a recall. In fact, a Service Advisor at my dealer expressly vocalized that 1) he himself [excluding his colleagues] has seen at least -2- of the same incident recently; and that 2) Hyundai Corporation (USA) issued a “(service) bulletin” about the problem. PROBLEM: The vehicle: 1) has a high idle; 2) shows a solid-illuminated CEL/emissions light; 3) severely resists braking—my vehicle would even slide through stop signs; 4) fails to “pick up” normally; and 5) drives unsteadily. This is at minimum and is my experience from both last week and from the original report on 05-Feb-2022. As explained to me today (28-Mar-2022) by my Service Advisor, there is a known fault with a component within the engine (Powertrain). Specifically, there is a tube that is—as I understand—meant to be FREE of fluids. However, and per the Bulletin, the tube becomes full or over-filled with oil from the engine (Powertrain). Further, the Advisor suspects that changes in temperatures (e.g., such as the teens *F back in Feb 2022) causes that oil/fluid to expand and contract, causing (further) damage. This issue must be remedied by Hyundai Corporation (USA) immediately because it is a *SAFETY RISK.* My Dealership emphasized severely how unsafe it would be to drive the vehicle off their premises without a repair. I’m fortunate because I’m the original owner and thus am covered by the 10 yr/100,000 mi Powertrain warranty. PLEASE SAVE LIVES FROM THESE ‘FLYING’, UNCONTROLLABLE CARS BY MANDATING A RECALL. **I will provide Dealer’s documentation once vehicle is repaired. I was advised to wait 2-8 wks for parts and repair.**

ALL OF A SUDDEN THE KEY FEATURES SUCH AS BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD), ALONG WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) AND CAR SKIDDING PREVENTION SYSTEM STOPPED TO WORK IN MY CAR. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP (WITH MY CAR CLOCKING ABOUT 62,650 MILES) AND I WAS TOLD THAT SUCH IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI USA CORPORATE OFFICE, I WAS TOLD THAT SUCH KEY SAFETY FEATURE CAN GO WRONG ANY TIME WHICH WAS SUCH A SHOCKING NEWS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. MY CAR DOES NOT DETECT ANY VEHICLE WHICH IS COMING/PASSING THROUGH AT HIGH SPEED, AND THE REAL WORST THING IS THAT IT'S ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) AND SKIDDING WARNING SYSTEM ARE NOT AT ALL FUNCTIONING WHICH COMPROMISE THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO SOME BUSHES AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE REGAINED NORMAL BRAKING FUNCTION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT UPON APPROACHING A FOUR WAY STOP, HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL HOWEVER, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT DROVE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND ANOTHER VEHICLE SWERVED TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE REGAIN BRAKING FUNCTIONALITY SOON AFTER THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.

HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING. CHECK BRAKES. DO NOT DRIVE. THE CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AND YOU GET THIS WARNING WITH ALARMS DINGING LOUDLY. IT RENDERS THE CAR UNUSABLE AND IS UNSAFE IN TRAFFIC. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT YOU CAN RESTART IT BUT IT JUST HAPPENS AGAIN. IT HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEED AND ON SLOW SIDE STREETS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER SO WE REPLACED IT. A WEEK LATER IT HAPPENS AGAIN. ABOUT A YEAR BEFORE WE GOT A SIMILAR MESSAGE: HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING. DO NOT DRIVE. BUT IT DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE BRAKES. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT VARYING SPEEDS IN ALL WEATHER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE 12V BATTERY AND THE MESSAGE STOPPED. FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING BRAKE ISSUES. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY, SOMETIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING (AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 20-65 MPH) AND SOMETIMES WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. IT EVEN HAPPENED WHILE I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC ON A HILL DRIVING INTO YOSEMITE VALLEY! WHEN IT HAPPEND, THE CAR ISSUES A WARNING SAYING THAT THERE IS A BRAKE FAILURE AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. IT FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS DRAGGING ON THE FRONT WHEELS AND THE CAR STOPS ON ITS OWN. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC BUT THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI. I TOOK IT INTO HYUNDAI THIS WEEKEND AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE AND SAYS IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE HYDRAULIC BRAKES ALERTING THE SYSTEM TO BRAKE WHEN IT SHOULDN'T BE. IT'S GOING TO COST ME AROUND $2500 TO FIX IT, WHICH IS A HEFTY SUM AND UNFORTUNATELY WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF MY WEDDING BUDGET FOR MY WEDDING IN 6 MONTHS. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING HYUNDAI SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, I COULD'VE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT IF THE CARS BEHIND AND AROUND ME WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION WHEN THE BRAKE FAILURES OCCURRED. AT 91000 MILES THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. HYUNDAI HAS A 100000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE POWERTRAIN FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AT LEAST, IF THEY ARE NOT GOING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. REPAIRS ARE ASTRONOMICALLY EXPENSIVE. I WAS QUOTED MORE THAN 7000 DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURED, THE BRAKES BECOME UNUSABLE AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I THINK HYUNDAI AND ITS DEALERS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS TYPE OF FAILURE.

DASHBOARD LIGHTS, RADIO, POWERS WINDOWS STILL WORKED. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAITED IN MY CAR BLOCKING ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES A PASSERBY PUSHED MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AT THIS TIME I NOTICED IT WAS VERY HARD TO STEER AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO LOCK UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK. WHILE WAITING I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RE-START THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE 3 BLOCKS HOME. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND NO ERROR CODES SHOWED UP. THERE WERE ALSO NO ERROR COEDS IN THE LOG BUT IF THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING SHOULD BE IN THE LOG. I'M EXTREMELY NERVOUS TO DRIVE THINKING THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN IN A MORE DIRE SITUATION (LIKE ON THE FREEWAY). I HAD AN ACCIDENT THIS MORNING IN MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA SE DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE A VEHICLE STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME ABOUT ONE-AND-A-HALF CRAWLER AND I APPLIED MY BREAKS BECAUSE I SAW WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS WHEN I APPLY MY BRAKES THEY DIDN'T WORK IT WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND HAD NO BREAKS WHATSOEVER AND I SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR ALL OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED THE STEERING WHEEL CRACK THE FRONT OF MY CAR IS DEMOLISHED I CONTACTED HYUNDAI TO TRY TO FIND OUT WHETHER THEY HAD A RECALL ON BREAK FOR THE SONATAS AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALL ON MY CAR SO I FOUND IT VERY STRANGE THAT THEY SAID NO OPEN RECALL ON MY CAR BUT THEY NEVER SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE OPEN HAVE ANY INCIDENTS WITH PEOPLE WITH BRAKE FAILURE AND I JUST WANTED TO MAKE THIS PUBLICLY KNOWN THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES AND I WISH IF THERE'S ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE THAT HAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM THEY WOULD COME FORWARD WITH THIS BECAUSE I WASN'T HURT VERY VERY BADLY BUT I GOT BUMPS AND BRUISES BUT I COULD HAVE DIED THE SAME WAY IF I WAS GOING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED I COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF AND SOMEONE ELSE.

MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA HAS BEEN BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER. EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND THE THIS CAR HAS A RECALL. I DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL UNTIL A LIGHT POPS UP OR I HAVE A WEIRD NOISE WHILE DRIVING. ONE TIME THE CAR JUST FELT WEIRD WHILE DRIVING AND I WENT TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALLS. FIRST SEATBELT, THEN ENGINE LINE NEEDED REPLACING, THEN ANOTHER PART NEEDED REPLACING, THEN ANOTHER. AFTER GOING THERE MONDAY FOR FOR THE ENGINE IMMOBILIZER, THE BRAKE HOLD LIGHT BEING I WAS TOLD SOMETHING WAS REPLACED, AND OH A RECALL WAS HANDLED. THEN TO COME BACK FRIDAY AND AFTER 4-5 HOURS BE TOLD THE ABS HAS TO BE REPLACED, MEANING I HAVE TO COME BACK BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE ORDERED. THEN, AFTER LEAVING, NOW THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT IS ON, AND THERE APPEARS TO BE ENOUGH AIR IN EACH TIRE!! SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. NOTE TO SELF, DON'T BY A CAR BEFORE THE YEAR IT COMES OUT. BOUGHT THIS 2015 IN 2014. I REALLY THINK THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO NOTIFY CONSUMERS OF THESE RECALLS. I SHOULDN'T FIND OUT ABOUT THEM ONLY AFTER BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR AN ISSUE OR AN OIL CHANGE.

2015 HYUNDAI SONATA SE - ENGINE VIBRATIONS/RATTLES/DRONING WHEN IN OVERDRIVE AT LOW RPM ACCELERATION. AT TIMES THE ENGINE HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE. WAS TOLD BY HYUNDAI IT WAS NORMAL, BUT DID NOT START UNTIL THE CAR HAD AROUND 600 MILES - NOW AT 7400 MILES, STILL DOING IT AND SOUNDS HORRID. ALSO, POPPING SOUND FROM STEERING/BRAKES WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING/USING BRAKES AT ONLY 1200 MILES. THAT WAS FIXED BY DEALER, SAID I HAD OVERHEATED THE BRAKES, WHICH WASN'T TRUE, ONLY DROVE ON FREEWAY AND WASN'T USING THE BRAKES.

IN THE SNOW, MY HYUNDAI SONATA WILL DRIVE FINE UNTIL TURNING. DURING TURNING, EVEN WITH MINIMAL SNOW, MY BRAKES LOCK UP AND MY CAR SLIDES SLOWLY BUT AT THAT POINT I AM UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING, USUALLY MAKING ME HIT A CURB. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS COSTING ME $2200. I HAVE HAD TWO CARS BEFORE MY HYUNDAI SONATA AND HAVEN'T HAD ISSUES WITH SUCH A PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC SCRATCHES HIS HEAD IN CONFUSION AS TO HOW ALMOST THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN IN SUCH A SMALL TIME FRAME. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, I BELIEVE SOMETHING WITH TRACTION CONTROL OR BRAKING IS WRONG. HAD I BEEN A WORSE DRIVER THE DAMAGES COULD BE WORSE.

MY CONCERN IS WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED MANUFACTURED IN THE UNITED STATES (AND POTENTIALLY OTHER MODELS AS WELL). MY OWNER'S MANUAL CLEARLY STATES (PAGE 5-41) THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH SHOULD ILLUMINATE FOR 3 SECONDS DURING START UP AS THE ABS SYSTEM RUN A SELF-TEST, THEN EXTINGUISH. THE ABS LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD DOES NOT ILLUMINATE DURING STARTUP AS DESCRIBED IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL. DESPITE NUMEROUS DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AT CERTIFIED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIPS, THE ABS SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY ELECTRICALLY AND MECHANICALLY. I AM MAKING THE FOLLOWING INQUIRIES: 1. IS THE 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED DESIGNED TO HAVE THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATE DURING STARTUP (TO CONFIRM OR DENY WHAT IS PUBLISHED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL)? 2. IS THIS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT REQUIRES A RECALL/REPLACEMENT? 3. I PURCHASED A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED W/ TECH PKG. I HAVE THE CAR WITH ME IN QUEBEC CANADA FOR A JOB. TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN CANADA, IT MUST UNDERGO AN INSPECTION ACCORDING TO CANADIAN STANDARDS.DURING VEHICLE STARTUP, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH MUST ILLUMINATE FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN GO OUT TO SIGNIFY NORMAL OPERATION OF THE ABS. MY ABS LIGHT DID NOT DO THIS, SO IT FAILED. A DIAGNOSTIC AT A CANADIAN HYUNDAI DEALER CAME BACK WITH NO ERROR CODES, THE ABS MODULE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY, AND AN EMERGENCY STOP ROAD TEST ACTIVATED THE ABS SYSTEM. I'D LIKE TO SAY I WAS ABLE TO CONVINCE THEM BY OPENING MY OWNER'S MANUAL, BUT TO MY SURPRISE THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THAT THE ABS LIGHT SHOULD ILLUMINATE FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN EXTINGUISH. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD ME THE CAR AND THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE SAME CONDITION (NO ABS LIGHT AT START UP) ON AN IDENTICAL 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED VEHICLE AND STATED THERE WERE NO PENDING RECALLS. THUS, I DO NOT THINK THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT (ABLE TO REPLICATE ON IDENTICAL VEHICLE AND HAVE SEEN SEVERAL ONLINE VIDEOS TO SUPPORT NO ABS LIGHT ON START UP IN LIMITED EDITION SONATA), THERE IS NO MALFUNCTION IN THE ABS SYSTEM (CANADA DIAGNOSTIC), AND THERE IS A DISCREPANCY IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT IS MODEL-SPECIFIC. I AM UNABLE TO REFERENCE ABS LIGHTING CONDITIONS SPECIFIC TO THE LIMITED EDITION DURING THE INSPECTION PROCESS. HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA, WHO HAD NO OTHER REFERENCE THAN THE MANUAL, SUGGESTED ANOTHER INSPECTION. I PURCHASED MY HYUNDAI SONATA ON 1/05/2015 WITH ONLY 6 MILES FROM SHEEHY HYUNDAI OF WALDOR IN MARYLAND AFTER 11 DAYS OF PURCHASE ON JANUARY 16 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45 PM (RUSH HOUR IN THE DC METRO AREA) MY SONATA CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS ON THE HIGHWAY IN MIDDLE LANE WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY SCARY AND PUT ME IN A VERY VULNERABLE POSITION. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, I WAS UNABLE TO STEER OUT THE WAY OF TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WAS A SITTING DUCK WAITING TO GET SMASHED BY A PICKUP TRUCK DIRECTLY IN THE BACK OF ME.THANK MY GOD NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS UNABLE TO USE THE SOS AND BLUELINK EMERGENCY FEATURES THAT IS EQUIPPED CAME WITH 3 MONTHS FREE ACTIVATION IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAD TO PERSONALLY CALL VIA MY CELL PHONE AND AWAIT POLICE ASSISTANCE WHICH WAS 10 MINUTES STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND AFTER THE ASSISTANCE OF THE POLICE WE WERE ONLY THEN ABLE TO PUSH THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE BLUELINK CUSTOMER SERVICE DID VERY POORLY IN RESPONDING AFTER ALL THIS EMERGENCY SITUATION AND TO MAKE IT WORSE THEY DID NOT PROVIDE A TOW UNTIL 1.45 MINUTES AFTER, THEN COMMENCE TO JUSTIFY THIS LONG PERIOD BY STATING ITS "FRIDAY AND THE NORMAL TIME IS 2 HOURS OR MORE". THEREFORE, I AM PLEADING TO SHEEHY DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI CORPORATION ALONG WITH ANYONE ELSE THAT CAN ASSIST ME TO ENSURE THAT I HAVE A NEW REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. I AM GETTING NOWHERE WITH SHEEHY DEALERSHIP IN REFERENCE TO A NEW REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT SHEEHY SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY ARE STILL NOT ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.
