The steering column locks up. When start vehicle and make turn to get on road the steering locks up and cannot turn the wheel. This is safety concern and not safe to drive.
While driving a EPS light came in and the steering was extremely hard to drive. I was on the highway so I had to pull over to turn off the car and then turn it on. After turning it on it worked ok for a little and then messed up again and I couldn’t turning the steering wheel again. While driving in the highway my safety was at risk because I could have crashed into another car and hurt my self or other people driving. The car can be inspected at any point in time because it is at a Hyundai dealership where it got fixed a few months before. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The vehicle has not been impounded and a selected dealer. The EPS warning light and key not detected light came on. Hyundai has multiple issues with their staring and wiring with multiple different Hyundais, including elantra and Sonata, but directly with the Hyundai Sonata hybrid. There are multiple warranties for recall 14325000. I bought this car in November 20 24 and went into the shop December 30 of 2024. It stayed in two shops, including a Hyundai dealer from December 2024 to April 2025 it had been out from April till August and went back into the shop in August. His car I believe is defective and shouldn’t be on the road whatsoever. In logically how does a whole steering column go out and need to be replaced at only 109,000 miles?!
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while her son was driving the vehicle at approximately 65 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the driver pulled to the side of the road. The contact stated after the driver turned off and restarted the vehicle several times, the steering wheel responded as needed. The contact stated that the message "Power Steering Fault" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the loss of power steering assist was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V325000(Steering, Electrical System). The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering assist motor and unknown related parts needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V325000(Steering, Electrical System); however, the dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My steering rack had to be replaced at less than 55,000 miles. I asked the dealer if this was covered under warranty and they said no. I was charged $4,800 for this repair. I contacted Hyundai USA and they refused to cover the repair. I then realized that I had received a letter from Hyundai stating my car had the extended warranty of 15 years/150m miles for this exact repair. I am on the phone with Hyundai now and they are still refusing to cover this repair, even though they sent me the letter stating my car has this extended warranty. My car is available for inspection upon request. Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk, my power steering would intermittently go out while turning. Yes, my car was inspected twice, once in 2023 and again in May of 2025. Repairs were done in May. I was told this was not covered under warranty but I have an extended warranty from Hyundai for this exact problem. That extended warranty is for 15 years/150m miles. Yes, the occurrence in 2025 threw a code of C168708 - CAN time out VSM (MDPS) and C1814 - CAN message failure SAS.
Power steering failed, car diagnosed with code C2412 & Hyundai refuses to take accountability
For about a month now the power steering was going in and out and then just the other day, the power steering went completely out, I am now having it towed to the dealership today 02/11/2025. I've also had oil consumption problems to the point where there is only 1 quart of oil left in the engine when getting the oil changed, had the combustion cleaning done and no help. Hyundai said no to a new engine, car only has 102,000 miles on it, only 10 years old and Hyundai hasn't helped a bit, said that I would have to come out of pocket but I ended up having to spend $600 on the cleaning, which is absurd.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel and the contact observed that the steering wheel had become very difficult to turn. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that before the power steering failure, the engine had been replaced by a dealer. The contact pulled over, turned off, and restarted the vehicle, and the power steering functionality returned. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and occurred at various speeds. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

Steering wheel locked with skid slip lines and red steering wheel and exclamation mark lights on. Steering wheel locked up while driving. The car will no turn and is not drivable because the wheel will not turn.
WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING, RED LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. ONCE I TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WAS FIXED, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. ANY IDEA WAHT IT COULD BE?
Mileage: 136,930
The wheel of my car as I would turn literally locked on me and the car went off to the other side of roadand engine shuts off .this seems to only happen when I make a right turn quickly it is random and I never. Know when this will occur it hurt my hand because the wheel snapped out of my hand as to keep straight . So it's very scary I am looking for help to get itfixed . But I won't feel safe driving it until then I had to buy another car so that I could drive meanwhile I see what I can do about this car
Steering Column making Clicking sound. Steering Wheel completely locked during a turn.
While driving, I was in the middle of a left turn and had a reduction of the power steering assist system. I had to hit the brakes before entering the opposing traffic. I had to muscle the steering wheel to get out of the middle of the road.
The power steering went out on two different occasions. The power steering assist light came on (red steering wheel light in the lower left corner of panel). The car was extremely difficult to drive. Once the car was shut off the system reset and the steering was normal. I brought the car to the dealership twice and they told me they could not duplicate the problem and could not repair the car unless they could duplicate the problem. Hyundai USA basically told me the same thing; even though there must be a known issue because they have extended the warranty on the power steering assist system. The dealership and Hyundai's only solution was to have the car inspected at another dealership. This is a ridiculous solution since the problem seems to be an intermittent issue. Having the car inspected by another dealership will not solve anything. I believe this issue makes my car UNSAFE to drive! Hyundai will not reply to my questions such as: why an error code was not recorded when the power steering light is triggered? Hyundai should pay for the repair of these issues as they are reported by the owner and not only when it is occurring at the dealership.
While turning in an intersection on a highway, car displayed check hybrid system and shut down. power steering could not engage so braking and turning was almost impossible. Car had to be towed, was not able to be restored
The electric power steering suddenly failed while making a turn on a neighborhood road shortly after beginning a drive. The incident also triggered warning lights for the Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Departure Warning System, and Smart High Beam System. I was able to return the car to a safe location and turn it off. When I turned the car back on later, power steering and other systems worked normally. The service center was unable to recreate the issue. They recommended replacing the steering column for a cost of $3,000+ but did not perform the service due to the issue not recurring. Approximately 10 days later, the electric power steering failed again while backing out of a parking space. It worked normally again after turning the car off and back on. It is unclear if this issue is connected to the known problem with the steering coupler in this vehicle. (My specific vehicle was not included in the recall associated with the coupler issue, but has demonstrated the steering catch/clunk that is the hallmark of that problem.)
Engine failure due to a problem with the type of engine. Hyundai denied warranty and class action settlement claim, due to exceptional neglect. All oil changes etc were accounted for. the car with no warning, had been driving great, lost all power and left me and my two grandchildren on the side of the road. The Hyundai dealership confirmed that the engine was blown. There were no warnings
My steering wheel locked up and I had to turn the car off and back on again in order to steer.
As I was driving down a highway going 65 my steering wheel pretty much locked up. I got a red steering wheel light and traction control light came on to and I could barely turn. I looked this up and a lot of people are saying it's the wiring with the power steering. How is this not a recall? Me and my kids could of died or I couldn't of hit someone else also. Now it's not doing it. But then today as I was driving the kids to school it happened again.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and turning the steering wheel to the center position, the steering wheel independently turned to left, causing the vehicle to veer to the left. Additionally, the contact stated while attempting to make a right turn, the failure recurred, causing the vehicle to go to the opposite direction. The contact stated that she used physical force to manually turn the steering wheel to the right as the steering wheel was resistant. The steering warning light and the traction control warning light were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring, and the steering wheel was making abnormal clicking sounds while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,150.
Mileage: 96,150
Steering wheel hardens as vehicle picks up speed, making it difficult to turn the steering wheel.
After driving for 15 or more minutes, the power steering fails. The warning light for the power steering and stability control turn on at that moment, as well. This failure occurs while driving and the wheel jerks a bit if the car is in a turn. There was a power steering recall for other Hyundais of the same era, which is very coincidental.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the steering column. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that an unknown part within the steering column had failed and needed to be replaced. No further information was available. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 29,500.

2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO STEERING DEFECT.
As Im driving the ((electric power steering)) goes out. Its happened 4 or 5 times and when you turn your car off for a period of time the errors go off and dont come back till it does it again. It gets to you cant hardly turn the steering wheel. I'm a big guy and struggle to steer the car when this happens. If this happens when youre driving you could kill yourself or someone else by not being able to turn the steering wheel to avoid another vehicle or person. I was at a dealership and because the icons werent on they couldnt trouble shoot the issue. There was an icon with EPS! in red and an icon with skid marks
The power steering started malfunctioning and then caused all warning lights on the dash to illuminate including check engine, power steering, abs, and after coming to a stop and waiting several minutes the lights went off but power steering was still not operating correctly
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the TPMS warning light illuminated. The contact then stated that the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact stated that she had to use the shift release button to shift gear. The contact then stated that all the lights on the instrument panel failed to illuminate. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the hub sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V325000 (Steering, Electrical System). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

My power steering light came on last night when I arrived from work on Saturday night. Was hoping to take it in to be looked at but the dealership I bought it from is closed till Monday at 10. Woke up Sunday for work decided to see if the light was still on but it was off but about 7 minutes into the the light came back on along with the abs light, engine light, and oil light. I believe a couple more lights came on but not sure which ones but the car stopped working and starting completely
My vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power steering a few days ago, with approx 52,000 miles on the odometer. At the time it happened, two warning lights came on and remained on: a red steering wheel with an exclamation point, and an orange ESC control (icon: car with squiggles underneath) light. For a few days if I turned the car off and back on, the power steering would return and the warning lights would turn off. However today the car started with the lights on and no power steering and it appears to be permanently failed at this time. There is a recall issued for 2015 Sonatas for a power steering issue that sounds identical but my VIN does not appear to be included. My local dealership has no appointments available until November 8th and I have been informed that new power steering components will cost over $2500.
Power steering stopped working. 2 icons came up on instrument panel. A red steering wheel with an exclamation point and a car skidding. I was making a turn and was unable to turn the car back straight. Luckily I was going slow and was able to get stopped. I was able to get the car home without power steering. After restarting the car the power steering came back. Now I can't trust the car.
Driving at 55 and the engine blew. No warning, no check engine light, no sign of anything wrong. Power steering loss, limo mode activation. Almost rear ended during catastrophic failure. 111,000 miles
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel would suddenly become extremely difficult to turn in either direction. During the failure, the steering fault warning light was illuminated. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure; no service was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist would intermittently fail as the reduction in power steering assist would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that his vehicle would shut off while driving at various speeds without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle would independently accelerate as the check engine and oil warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had to depress the brake pedal to stop the acceleration. The dealer had yet to be notified of the failure. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

Steering Assist Problem Hyundai Sonata 2015 Sport 2.0T The car was purchased in Dec 2015 in California. We have had repeated occurrences of sudden power steering assist problems with the car, which typically happens after driving the car for 10-15 miles, and would go away after turning off the car for a few hours. The issue was first reported in Aug 2017 (case number 2017082505369). The power steering assist abruptly stopped functioning while driving, making it very difficult to steer, and a safety hazard (mileage 18,723). The dashboard had the steering wheel error light on. The dealer replaced the steering rack-gear+linkage. The same problem reoccurred in June 2020 (case number 2020043003513, mileage 46,915). The dealer ran diagnostics and again replaced the steering rack assembly. Between Aug 2021 to Feb 2022, the same problem has occurred again multiple times, and each time we left the car with the dealer to run diagnostics, they were unable to replicate the issue at their end, and refused to help us unless we brought in the car while the power steering assist problem existed, knowing fully well how unsafe it was to try and replicate such a dangerous problem while driving, putting our safety at risk! We raised the case with Hyundai, case number 18786891. Hyundai refused to acknowledge that there is a problem with the car and asked us to replicate and take it to the dealer for diagnosis. It has been very difficult for us to get any help from the dealer/Hyundai with the case. We feel that this has been a persistent issue and Hyundai should help fix the problem or recall the vehicle based on safety concerns. There have been multiple power steering related recalls in 2015 Hyundai Sonata vehicles, but the Sport 2.0T trim doesn't show up in the list, probably because fewer vehicles of this trim seem to be in circulation. The problem has occurred numerous times now, (latest being Feb 12, 2022). This is a serious safety hazard and we wanted to report this.
Power steering assist failed upon making a right hand turn. Steering failure led to an injury accident. Vehicle was inspected by Green Light Auto and EDR codes retrieved. No codes specific to steering was found. Vehicle was inspected by insurance adjustor. No warning lights or other indications of steering loss was present before the accident caused by the steering loss. Issue seems similar to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V325000
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contacts son stated while driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle's steering wheel became hard to turn. The power steering warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with, NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V325000 (STEERING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) however the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with being an electrical issue. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the same issues. The manufacturer was informed of failure and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

steering wheel locked up while driving causing vehicle to run off the Hwy. vehicle flipped causing injuries
Steering column made gravelly noise and felt wrong after service checkup. Finally acknowledged and fixed (no charge: paid $1600 for extended warranty on purchase 5 years ago) a month later. Horn honks briefly and intermittently sometimes after stop after service checkup. Not yet acknowledged or fixed. Tried to charge an exorbitant amount for service, despite our having an extended free warranty, and refused us a loaner car. Service horrible.
Powering steering seems get harder when i stop at lights and when i turn then car back on from getting grocery.
When driving at low speed straight ahead, steering locked up and was unable to turn left, steering wheel could not be turned from straight ahead position. Stopped vehicle and then started again, tried series of left/right turns to try and duplicate problem, steering would then randomly lock up when attempting to turn, more in left turns than in right. Occasionally was able to make full lock turn to left or right, however steering wheel would "catch" and wheel could not be turned to full lock unless vehicle was stopped and started again. At this point vehicle is not safe to drive and will need to be towed to Hyundai dealer, however Hyundai dealer says it will be at least 2 weeks before they can look at it, so vehicle is completely out of service.
EVERY TIME IT'S BAD WEATHER I HAVE THIS TERRIBLE SHACKING AND DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE REGAINED POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND THEN TOWED TO HYUNDAI INLAND EMPIRE (25072 REDLANDS BOULEVARD, LOMA LINDA, CA 92354, (909)-796-1600) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED A FAILURE CODE AT THE POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING LOCKED WHILE I WAS ON 55M/H. THE DASHBOARD HAD THE STEERING SIGN ON. THE CAR WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED HOME BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I TRIED THE CAR THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THE CAR WAS FINE AND NO SIGN ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK THE CAR ON AN ERRAND AND FEW MINS LATER, THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO WORKSHOP WHO DATAMINED IT IS A MANUFACTURE SAFETY ISSUE WITH SENSOR. AS AT THIS MOMENT, THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I AM REALLY CONCERNED ON WHY THE PUBLIC HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED

SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. NEARLY HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS TRYING TO GET HOME. I AM A 100% DISABLED VETERAN SUFFERING END STAGE KIDNEY FAILURE A% DAY/WEEK DIALYSIS. I CAN NOT SAFELY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING AND AM ALARMED AT ALL THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT HAVE ILLUMINATED. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MGR 1ST TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. I REMINDED HIM OF THE PANORAMIC ROOF RECALL THEY DID. NOW HE SAYS MY CAR HAS NO RECALLS FOR THE POWER STEERING ISSUE CAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY OF 2014. I PURCHASED IT NEW IN 2015 WITH ONLY 13 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. PLEASE HELP ME SORT OUT THE TRUE RECALL STATUS AND I WISH TO FILE THIS AS A COMPLAINT ALSO. [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

WHEN TURNED THE VEHICLE ON, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING HAD STOPPED WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY FOUR LANE I ENTERED A TURN LANE TO CROSS TRAFFIC. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND STEERING, WITH A ALARM STATING 'HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING-DO NOT DRIVE'. ONE VEHICLE NARROWLY MISSED HITTING MY CAR, (AS IT COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER AND STEERING AND LEFT ME STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF ON COMING TRAFFIC). RESEARCHING TODAY I SEE THIS IS COMMON BETWEEN 2012-2016 ESPECIALLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT WAS NARROWLY AVOIDED.

ON MARCH 3RD I WAS DRIVING ON GA-317 S AND WANT TO TAKE RIGHT TURN ON GA-120.AS SOON AS I TOOK THE TURN AND WAS ABOUT TO MERGE IN THE LANE THEN SUDDENLY MY CAR'S STEERING GOT LOCKED FOR A WHILE (AROUND 1 SECOND) AND UNLOCKED AGAIN AUTOMATICALLY AND MY CAR'S COMPUTER SYSTEM ALSO RESTARTEDBLUETOOTH DISCONECTED AND RADIO STARTED LOKE WHEN YOU START THE CAR .ANY FURTHER DELAY IN UNLOCKING THE STEERING COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCCIDENT. THANKS TO GOD FOR SAVING ME . THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DENGEROUS FOR THOSE DRIVING THE 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA BECAUSE OF STEERING LOCKS WHILE TAKING TURN. NOW I SCARE TO DRIVE,HYUNDAI COMPANY SHOULD TAKE THIS ISSUE VERY VERY SERIOUSLY AND SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLE. WHILE CONTACTING THE ONE OF THE AUTHORISED DEALER IN GEROGIA ,THEY TOOK CHARGED TO DIAOGNISED THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR IS NOT IN WARRANTY PERIOD.STEERING LOCK PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING IS THE HYUNDAI CAR COMUTER SYSTEM DEFECT.IT IS THE COMPANIES RESPONSIBILTY TO HAVE THEIR CAR ON ROAD TO BE VERY SAFEFOR DRIVING. ,ITS NOT A DRIVER'S FAULT.THEY MUST DIAGNOSIS THE ISSSUE AND REPAIRED IT WITHOUT ANY COST TO CUSTOMER.

ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE TURNING ON. THE CAR LOSES POWER STEERING. THE CAR WILL AT TIMES NOT TURN ON. THIS HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR. HYUNDAI CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY GOES AWAY BY ITSELF FOR A FEW MONTHS AND REAPPEARS AGAIN. WE HAD THE FUEL SENSOR AND BATTERY REPLACED. THEY SAID MY ALTERNATOR AND STARTER IS STILL GOOD. THE CAR NEVER STALLED DURING DRIVING ONLY LOOSES POWER STEERING WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. WE NOTICED WHEN WE ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL UP AND DOWN, IT CLEARED THE ISSUE FOR A FEW MONTHS AS WELL. I BELIEVE 2015 HYUNDAI SONATAS ARE EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I READ ONLINE OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

I BOUGHT MY CAR AT A DEALERSHIP, IN WEST, TN CALLED BOLIVAR FORD. THEY SOLD ME THE CAR I GOT NOW AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN SHOW ME THE CAR UNTIL IT CAME BACK FROM GETTING AN 'OIL CHANGE'. THEN I REALIZED WHY THEY DIDN'T SHOW ME THE CAR UNTIL A FEW WEEKS LATER UNTIL I SAW THE PAINT CHIPPING AT THE ROOF OF MY CAR WHERE THE WINDSHIELD MEETS TO THE ROOF. SINCE LAST YEAR, THE PAINT HAS CHIPPED PROBABLY 5 INCHES MORE WIDE, AND ABOUT 11 INCHES HIGHER. IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. LIKE, THE HYUNDAI COMPANY SHOULD BE RECALLING TO GET ALL HYUNDAI'S NEW PAINT. I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 22 N, GOING TOWARDS LEXINGTON, TN, WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR WAS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN A LOT. I WAS GOING 59MPH IN A 55MPH ZONE, I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE AND LITERALLY ABOUT HAD A CONCUSSION GOING EVER A 20FT LONG BRIDGE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS BOUNCING SO BAD. I AM JUST NOW REPLACING THE TIRES AND BRAKE PADS/ ROTORS THAT THE SUSPENSION DAMAGED. I'VE NEARLY WRECKED 2-3 DIFFERENT TIMES. NO ONLY THAT I'VE HAD SORENESS IN MY BACK AND NECK FROM IT. NO WRECKS OR NOTHING AND NO MEDICAL ATTENTION ON, SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OF ME TRAVELING FOR WORK, I WOULD BE ON HWY 128 IN NIXON, TN HEADING TO TURN ON HWY 57 IN COUNCE, TN AND I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL WAS REAL LOOSE, TO THE POINT OF WHERE I COULD BASICALLY MOVE THE WHEEL WITH ONE FINGER. NOT ONLY THAT IT WILL DRAG REAL BAD. I CAN'T EVEN STAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND DRIVE NORMAL WITHOUT GOING FROM THE YELLOW LINE TO WHITE LINE AND THEN FROM WHITE LINE TO THE YELLOW LINE.

I AM EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. THE STEERING HAS DEAD SPOTS AND FEELS EXTREMELY LOOSE, IT IS VERY STRESSFUL KEEPING THE CAR STRAIT ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT IS ALL OVER THE ROAD. THE STEERING LIGHT COMES ON BUT THE DEALERS ALWAYS TELL ME "WE CAN'T FIND ANY CODES". THERE WAS A LOUD WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS AN "ELECTRICAL" SOUND IN THE FRONT END WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AS THE SERVICE MANAGER AT TAMERON HYUNDAI PUT IT. INSTEAD OF CHECKING THE STEERING THEY PUT STRUTS ON IT, WHICH HAS MADE THE PROBLEM 1000X WORSE NOW THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF WHICH THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX AND WITH THE STEERING PROBLEMS MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. WHENEVER IT RAINS THE STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER STOPS RESPONDING OR BECOMES HARD TO STEER. I PUT NEW TIRES ON IT LESS THAN A YEAR AGO THAT HAVE LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THEM AND HAVE ROTATED THEM TWICE AT 5,000 MILES THE ALIGNMENT IS SO BAD THAT ONE TIRE IS NOW BALD! EVERY TIME I GO TO A DEALER THEY REFUSE TO HELP. I'M PUTTING THIS HERE IN CASE I DIE IN THIS CAR! ALSO THE ENGINE HESITATES AND SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN STARTING. THE SHAKING IS WHEN IT IDEALS, BUT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS IT "PULSES" AND HESITATE WHILE ACCELERATING (I HARDLY GET A CHANCE TO TEST TO SEE HOW BAD THE HESITATION IS BECAUSE THE STEERING IS SO LOSE) I AM NOW FINDING OUT THE 2015 SONATA ENGINE IS EFFECTED BY THE MASSIVE DEFECT THEY HAVE HAD IN 2011- 2014 MODELS BUT ARE NOT MAKING IT PUBLICLY KNOWN. ONE WOULD THINK WITH ALL THE STEERING AND ENGINE PROBLEMS HYUNDAI HAS HAD IN THE PAST SONATA'S THEY WOULD TAKE THIS SERIOUS. ALL THEY DO IS BLAME CUSTOMERS, IF YOU CALL THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT LINE THEY WILL TELL YOU THEY CLOSED YOUR CASE IN LESS THAN A DAY WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE CAR. I HOPE THE GOVERNMENT GETS THIS COMPANY UNDER CONTROL FOR CONSUMERS SAKE AND SAFETY SAKE.

SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THIS CAR CAR AT 32.000, I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. THERE WAS A LOUD WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS AN "ELECTRICAL" SOUND IN THE FRONT END WHILE STEERING AS SERVICE MANAGER AT TAMERON HYUNDAI PUT, WITH THE STEERING LIGHT COMING ON ONE WOULD THINK TO CHECK THAT BUT THEY PUT NEW STRUTS ON IT, WHICH HAS MADE THE PROBLEM 1000X WORSE NOW THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF WHICH WITH THE STEERING MAKE IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. THIS CAR HAS SEVERAL RE CALLS AND I WASN'T NEVER INFORMED AND THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE
I WAS ABOUT THE CHANGE LANE AND I FELT THAT THE STEERING WHEEL IS HARDER TO TURN THAN USUAL. I WAS TURNING RIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE NEAREST STREET AND PARKED. I LEFT THE CAR RUNNING. AFTER A MINUTE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED I COULDN'T MOVE IT. THEN, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURNED OFF AND THE AC STOPPED. MANY WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND I COULD NOT TURN IT ON AGAIN. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (IT IS UNDER WARRANTY) AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY. THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY AND SAID IT WAS FINE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK, PAID FOR BATTERY AND AFTER 20MILES I FELT AGAIN SOME GLITCHES IN THE STEERING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ANYMORE. THE CAR WAS ON BUT THE STEERING WAS LOCKED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND AGAIN, I COULD NOT START IT. I AM REALLY AFRAID BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. I WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. WHAT IS WORSE, THE OFFICIAL DEALER 'FIXED IT' BUT THE SAME ISSUE AROSE AFTER 20 MILES AGAIN. WHAT IF I WAS TO GO ON A TRIP? I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE STEERING. AND I PAID FOR THE BATTERY WHICH IN THE END MAY NOT BE A PROBLEM AT ALL. I FEEL RIPPED OFF AND THE CAR IS ONLY 44,400MILES AND IT IS 3 YRS OLD.

I WAS ON A CITY STREET APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP MY CAR'S ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. OIL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND BATTERY LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE CAR WITH NO LUCK. CAR DID NOT MAKE ANY TURNING OVER SOUNDS WHEN TRYING TO RE-START. DASHBOARD LIGHTS, RADIO, POWERS WINDOWS STILL WORKED. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAITED IN MY CAR BLOCKING ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES A PASSERBY PUSHED MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AT THIS TIME I NOTICED IT WAS VERY HARD TO STEER AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO LOCK UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK. WHILE WAITING I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RE-START THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE 3 BLOCKS HOME. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND NO ERROR CODES SHOWED UP. THERE WERE ALSO NO ERROR COEDS IN THE LOG BUT IF THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING SHOULD BE IN THE LOG. I'M EXTREMELY NERVOUS TO DRIVE THINKING THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN IN A MORE DIRE SITUATION (LIKE ON THE FREEWAY). I SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THIS SAME SITUATION AND AM CONCERNED FOR MINE AND MY PASSENGERS' SAFETY.

THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, STEERING IS #1 AT LOW SPEED IS MAKES A POPPING NOISE, AT SPEED IS HAS DEAD SPOTS, ENTIRE STEERING ASSEMBLY COULD BE MOVED. THE TRANSMISSION IS ROUGH AND FEELS LIKE IT IS HUNTING AND STUMBLING BETWEEN 1/2,2/3 SHIFTS, DOWNSHIFTS 1 OR 2 RANGES AT THE SLIGHTEST HILL. BACK UP CAMERA COMES ON AND THEN GOES BLACK IN THE MIDDLE OF BACKING UP. BRAKES FEEL LIKE THEY ARE SLIPPING IF YOU ARE BRAKING AT LOW SPEED ON A HILL, AS IN PARKING. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER 3 OR 4 TIMES, THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS, THOUGH THEY DID MANAGE TO FIX THE MOVING STEERING ASSEMBLY THE 2ND VISIT WILE DENYING THEY DID ANY WORK. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO GET HYUNDAI TO BUY THIS CAR BACK UNDER THE LEMON LAW BUT THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG OR IT IS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH...I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO TAKE A HUGE LOSS TO TRADE IT IN ON A DEPENDABLE CAR OR WAIT TILL SOMETHING FAILS COMPLETELY (HOPEFULLY NOT THE STEERING) BEFORE THEY WILL LISTEN TO ME. *TR

I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND THE CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. I WAS ABLE TO PULL FORWARD INTO THE PARKING SPACE AND WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. THE CAR IS NEW, I ONLY HAVE 1,032 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS ON A SATURDAY, AND I HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS OF RIGHT NOW FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENED.

2015 HYUNDAI SONATA SE - ENGINE VIBRATIONS/RATTLES/DRONING WHEN IN OVERDRIVE AT LOW RPM ACCELERATION. AT TIMES THE ENGINE HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE. WAS TOLD BY HYUNDAI IT WAS NORMAL, BUT DID NOT START UNTIL THE CAR HAD AROUND 600 MILES - NOW AT 7400 MILES, STILL DOING IT AND SOUNDS HORRID. ALSO, POPPING SOUND FROM STEERING/BRAKES WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING/USING BRAKES AT ONLY 1200 MILES. THAT WAS FIXED BY DEALER, SAID I HAD OVERHEATED THE BRAKES, WHICH WASN'T TRUE, ONLY DROVE ON FREEWAY AND WASN'T USING THE BRAKES.

THE STEERING WHEEL ON THIS CAR WILL LOCK OR GET STUCK AS I AM OPERATING THE VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED AT SLOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND EVEN HAPPENED IN REVERSE ONCE. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND RANDOM BUT THE FREQUENCY IS INCREASING. ON MY FIRST DEALER VISIT 12/10/15 THERE WAS A CODE FOR THE ELECTRONIC STEERING WHICH THE DEALER CLEARED AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME WITHOUT MAKING ANY REPAIRS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED SO THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A 2ND DEALER WHO FOUND A CODE PERTAINING TO ECM OVERHEATING. HYUNDAI ADVISED THE DEALER TO CLEAR THE CODE AND RETURN THE CAR TO ME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE ON 12/16/15 AND RECEIVED AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT EMAIL THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD CONTACT ME IN 3-5 DAYS. ON 12/21 I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE, EXPLAINED THE CAR WASNT SAFE TO DRIVE SO WHAT SHOULD I DO. I WAS TOLD HYUNDAI WOULD NOT OFFER A LOANER CAR BUT I COULD ASK MY DEALER IF THEY WOULD PROVIDE ONE AT THEIR COST. I ASKED ABOUT A REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTING ME AND I WAS TOLD IT HASNT BEEN 5 DAYS YET SO I NEEDED TO BE PATIENT. AS OF 12/30/15 I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE. *JS

IN THE SNOW, MY HYUNDAI SONATA WILL DRIVE FINE UNTIL TURNING. DURING TURNING, EVEN WITH MINIMAL SNOW, MY BRAKES LOCK UP AND MY CAR SLIDES SLOWLY BUT AT THAT POINT I AM UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING, USUALLY MAKING ME HIT A CURB. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS COSTING ME $2200. I HAVE HAD TWO CARS BEFORE MY HYUNDAI SONATA AND HAVEN'T HAD ISSUES WITH SUCH A PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC SCRATCHES HIS HEAD IN CONFUSION AS TO HOW ALMOST THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN IN SUCH A SMALL TIME FRAME. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, I BELIEVE SOMETHING WITH TRACTION CONTROL OR BRAKING IS WRONG. HAD I BEEN A WORSE DRIVER THE DAMAGES COULD BE WORSE.

POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED. LUCKILY, IT FAILED SOMETIME BETWEEN WHEN I LAST DROVE IT AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT DAY. THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANAGE, DUE TO THE FAILED MOTOR. *TR

I PURCHASED MY HYUNDAI SONATA ON 1/05/2015 WITH ONLY 6 MILES FROM SHEEHY HYUNDAI OF WALDOR IN MARYLAND AFTER 11 DAYS OF PURCHASE ON JANUARY 16 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45 PM (RUSH HOUR IN THE DC METRO AREA) MY SONATA CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS ON THE HIGHWAY IN MIDDLE LANE WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY SCARY AND PUT ME IN A VERY VULNERABLE POSITION. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, I WAS UNABLE TO STEER OUT THE WAY OF TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WAS A SITTING DUCK WAITING TO GET SMASHED BY A PICKUP TRUCK DIRECTLY IN THE BACK OF ME.THANK MY GOD NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS UNABLE TO USE THE SOS AND BLUELINK EMERGENCY FEATURES THAT IS EQUIPPED CAME WITH 3 MONTHS FREE ACTIVATION IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAD TO PERSONALLY CALL VIA MY CELL PHONE AND AWAIT POLICE ASSISTANCE WHICH WAS 10 MINUTES STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND AFTER THE ASSISTANCE OF THE POLICE WE WERE ONLY THEN ABLE TO PUSH THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE BLUELINK CUSTOMER SERVICE DID VERY POORLY IN RESPONDING AFTER ALL THIS EMERGENCY SITUATION AND TO MAKE IT WORSE THEY DID NOT PROVIDE A TOW UNTIL 1.45 MINUTES AFTER, THEN COMMENCE TO JUSTIFY THIS LONG PERIOD BY STATING ITS "FRIDAY AND THE NORMAL TIME IS 2 HOURS OR MORE". THEREFORE, I AM PLEADING TO SHEEHY DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI CORPORATION ALONG WITH ANYONE ELSE THAT CAN ASSIST ME TO ENSURE THAT I HAVE A NEW REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. I AM GETTING NOWHERE WITH SHEEHY DEALERSHIP IN REFERENCE TO A NEW REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT SHEEHY SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY ARE STILL NOT ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE I WILL NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE SAME VEHICLE AFTER THIS VERY HAZARDOUS INCIDENT. *TR
