The hood has been physically inspected and confirmed to be closed, yet the warning persists. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue for potential investigation, as it may represent a defect in the hood latch sensor system on the 2017 Hyundai Sonata that could affect multiple vehicles and pose a safety risk.

My 2017 Hyundai Sonata SE is experiencing symptoms consistent with connecting rod bearing failure covered under Hyundai’s KSDS extended warranty program. June 22, 2019: KSDS software (Campaign 953) installed, qualifying the vehicle for Hyundai’s 15-year/150,000-mile warranty coverage for bearing failures. August 2022: Campaign 208 engine recall performed. Hyundai’s record shows Aug 15, 2022, while Wright Way Hyundai’s service history shows Aug 13, 2022 (discrepancy unresolved). March 2025 (100,238 miles): Vehicle went into limp mode with tailpipe smoke and loss of power. It was towed to Wright Way Hyundai, which kept it for several days but returned it with “no issue found.” The smoke continued. June 5, 2025 (103,996 miles): Oil change performed. August 27, 2025: Oil light illuminated, dipstick showed no oil. Vehicle now exhibits severe drivability issues consistent with bearing damage. Hyundai has incorrectly tried to reframe this as an oil-consumption issue and directed me to pay $600 for a combustion chamber cleaning. My issue is not oil consumption — it is a bearing-related failure already covered by warranty. Hyundai’s obligations include a no-cost inspection/diagnosis for connecting rod bearing failure, yet I have been denied that process. Despite repeated written requests, Hyundai continues to attempt phone communication instead of email, even addressing me by the wrong name in correspondence, which suggests reliance on standardized or generic responses. I have exclusively maintained the vehicle at Wright Way Hyundai, following Hyundai’s service schedule. I am resorting to filing this complaint because after weeks of email correspondence, Hyundai’s corporate agent refuses to help and the manager insists on only calling by phone — which I will not answer out of concern they will attempt to mischaracterize or dismiss my complaint verbally. This failure poses a safety risk because the vehicle has lost power suddenly and requiring restart.

Oil pressure failed testing, oil contamination was found on the oil pressure sensor and connector, and the vehicle has experienced excessive oil issues. The engine is still in my possession and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has gone into limp mode on the highway, which caused a sudden loss of power and created a dangerous situation in traffic. The car also shakes, misfires, and loses power unexpectedly, which could lead to stalling or loss of control at highway speeds. I do not feel safe driving the car. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple Hyundai dealerships have inspected the car. One confirmed low oil pressure and oil contamination at the sensor. Previous visits dismissed the oil warning and charged me for oil replacement instead of identifying the underlying defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by Hyundai dealers multiple times. I also have two inspection reports from the same dealer just two weeks apart with contradictory findings the first showing no oil issue, the second confirming oil contamination and failed oil pressure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The oil warning light and check engine light have both come on. The vehicle has gone into limp mode, and symptoms have included shaking, misfiring, rough idling, and loss of power. These issues began months ago and have continued despite repeated service visits.

My Hyundai consumes oil and I have to put oil in it every two weeks! Also my ignition coils has had to be changed 4 times. Also check engine light just came on code saying catalytic converter or oxygen sensor changed oxygen sensor a couple months ago. I purchased it brand new and as soon as I got over 100,000 miles nothing has been going good since then please help also my paint on the top of the car is starting to peel. Will never buy a Hyundai again.

My vehicle was purchased in 2018 and currently has 128,000 miles. I took it to the dealership because it was puttering and not holding pil. The dealership did some work on the vehicle. Furthermore, after that trip to the dealership, my car kept burning oil even after recent oil changes that I found myself constantly adding oil. I took it to another licensed mechanic who informed me after a tune up that my car is consistently burning oil. This was after I had a recent oil change. The engine is defective, hyundai knows they are defective and refuse to do anything about it.

The contact is a death investigator calling on behalf of the owner of a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while he was driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle failed to yield causing the front of the vehicle to crash into the front end of another vehicle. The events leading to the crash were unknown. The air bags were deployed. The owner of the 2017 Hyundai Senata was pronounced deceased at the scene; the cause was presumed to have been caused by the wheel hub dislodging. The death investigator arrived at the scene and discovered the wheel hub in the back of the neck of the driver possibly leading to the fatality. The other vehicle involved in the crash was able to drive off the scene. No further information was available on the other vehicle in the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The makes a weird shutter noise when accelerating and won't crank over 60. Loses power when turning or when going uphill. Sometimes has problem starting. Enging light came on twice blinking, once I changed the battery it went off and was working fine. Now it's back on again after a few weeks. Plus my oil tank still comes on and I've just received and oil change. I just bought the car in August of this year, dealership sold to me with a faulty battery.

Driving home car just shut off still had power to steer and brake but no engine. Pulled it off the main road and it leaked oil but still no engine. Already had the dealer replace the intake manifold at my expense despite hyundai knowing the plastic lever inside fails. We were lucky the snowplow was going the opposite direction as the weather was horrible as we got closer to home. I have a dead car in my yard waiting to have a dealer look at it. We could have been killed due to fault of engine.

It will also cut out when left turns are made...I have met 4 people with the exact same issues who received recalls but I am not sure why my car is not included. I was almost rear ended on the highway by a semi with my pregnant wife and 4 year old son in the car because of the engine failure.

Car was towed, in shop Dec 29, 2022 to Jan 10, 2023. knock sensor replaced, rusty spark plugs slots cleaned out, no communication with power train, case #20817405 June 16, case# 21597503 part A: Hev lights again chugging and stalling. Car towed in shop 22 days, returned 7-5-22.actuator 2nd time failure, knock sensor issue, clogged, emissions were cleaned: part b: Aug 14, to Oct 4 2023HEV system lights again, car stalled and died then towed : combustion cleaning 2nd time, spark plug corrosion replaced 2 time issue, 4 injectors replaced, recommend replace manifold (which I cannot pay for) dealer tech test drove 2 days and put 211 miles on car, more than we do in normal week driving to work and shopping In shop this time 52 days. This car has been taken in for all recall campaigns. Work done at same dealership every time. Is a sonata Hybrid SE I am attaching two files if you need more Please let me know. Your date entry below does not allow for each of the 3 times in shop total roughly 85 days four months Would like Hyundai to buy car back as no trade in value now and I cannot afford more rental fees and repairs and the balance due of $495.75 from 1st rental. I have a 2017 Hyundai Sonata that has had 3 recalls. I purchased the car in 2019 and all three recalls have been issued after 2019. Since I’ve had the car I’ve never taken it to Hyundai to get the recalls taken care of . Until recently I took my car to get the recalls fixed and they told me they had already been taken care of . The gave me the dealers contact information and I’ve never taken my vehicle to them they claim to have serviced my car at 122000 miles and I only have 94000 miles in my car. I believe they used my vin number to summit they fixed the recalls when my vehicle was never at their dealer. I contacted Hyundai and have not received any call back . The recalls for my vehicle are very serious recalls that I need to get fixed . One of them is the malfunctioning of the trunk latch my trunk does not open or close right now. I have a 6 month old baby and I need to put her stroller in trunk and I’m unable to do so. Also my car vandalized twice they tried to steal it. I need the security update . I just don’t know who I need to contact to help me get this resolved .

Several weeks ago, the trunk would not open. The latch was determined to be defective. I paid for a repair and replacement at a local garage. I had discovered there was a recall but phone calls to the dealership service department were not returned. I paid $149.79 for the part and part of $150.00 labor charge to replace the trunk latch. I have financed my Hyundai Sonata Sport 2017 in December of 2019. I have not had any issues until this current year of 2023. I have noticed that with every oil change that I receive that I would have to go back to the dealership or certified mechanic a month or two earlier. I personal checked for leaks but seen no signs of why I had to get constant oil changes. Recently, when driving on the highway speed limit at 70 mph and my car went to 60 mph. The engine light came on but no other warning. I stopped the car, check the oil level which was pretty low and topped it off. I let the car sit for a short while as I was only 5 mins away from home. Soon as I made it back, I check the oil level again which was in the line. Check for visible leaks. I figured my car shook as it did and idle at the speed do to a misfire with the spark plugs/coils which I had already replaced 2 months prior to the incident. I was able to use a car scanner from AutoZone to check for codes but there wasn't an engine light at all on the dashboard. There was only one code that did show which was P1326 but no engine light or flashing engine light. I then schedule an appointment for an oil change and to confirm that the engine light code was with Firestone Auto Care to analyze the issue. They did an overall check over on the car, checked for codes, and changed the oil in which they found no issues. With driving my car to test if there were any issues it completely shut down and did not want to start. They called me to tell me that the engine was locked. They tried turning the engine over multiple times, but nothing would start up. Due to not knowing what was going on with my vehicle I felt unsafe with driving it as it completely slowed down on the highway. As other cars where speeding by. It gave no indications prior to the incident that anything was wrong. I am waiting to see a Hyundai dealership to inspect my vehicle which they are booked until next month. My car is currently disabled.

At the beginning of March 2023, I observed that the white paint on the roof top is peeling off. Since Hyundai sent a extended warranty at the end of last year I took it to the dealership when I went for fixing a recall (Anti-theft software upgrade). They said that they don’t do paint job and asked me to call Hyundai US. Hyundai US said that the dealership is supposed to coordinate with a body shop to get this completed and file a reimbursement to Hyundai US. My contact person in Hyundai US called Hyundai dealership in Kirkland, WA and responded saying, this is only a cosmetic fix, and I should focus on completing the 60K service mileage, including brake change. I see that the paint is starting to peel off in more places and I am concerned that in few months it’ll spread all over the car.

On February 11, 2022, I took my car to the dealership because my oil light came on. I was told I had no oil in the engine. So they said to get an oil change and that would take care of the problem. Nope. It has not taken care of the problem. My car burns oil. I have taken it to 2 different Hyundai shops. One just kept changing the oil and never submit the paperwork until I got really upset about bringing my car back a month after having the oil change. No help. I have called Hyundai customer service no help at all. In January 2023 I went to start my car and it started jerking and shaking and spitting out oil threw the tailpipe. The car would not move. My garage door was covered with oil. I had it towed to another Hyundai dealership they kept the car for a week and told me that it needed a new spark. New wires because it was covered in oil. I'm out of $3000.00 including all the oil changes and the work that was done. Oh yeah, I was told to bring the car back after 1000 miles. I brought it back in March 2023. They started the oil consumption test. I was told to bring it back on that Thursday the 5th. I took my car back and the dealership would not accept my vehicle. Wouldn't let me leave it for my service guy nothing. I called the next day for my service guy and they said he didn't come in today. I even filed with the BBB Auto Line. I found that information in my 2017 owners handbook supplement did not help closed my case. They didn't even call or asked me any questions. No help. Stuck with a car I have no confidence in. I don't know if the engine is going to blow because the oil gets low or if it's going to sketch on fire because theirs no oil in it.

I was taken advantage of by a bad car dealership who sold me a dangerous car that smokes leaked oil does not stop and locks up they said the car was safe they also did not explain the contract to me. Car completely lost all power train systems while in motion after repair at dealership for HSG. Car was able to be restarted after shifting into park after complete stop. All instructions in user manual for restarting vehicle while in motion were followed but not successful. The vehicle died again pulling into dealership and the tech began diagnosis.

Total loss of power while driving occurred on 2 separate occasions driving the Hyundai Sonata. The dashboard lit up with multiple failures with no warning, and car lost all power. Both times were in peak traffic conditions and on one of the two instances, a very dangerous mountain road with very little time to react. Towed on 2 occasions to 2 different dealers with no clear cut fix for the car. These were very scary and dangerous incidents and I am afraid to drive this car to be honest. Hyundai has not done much to contact or reassure me that they were dealing with the situation.

My Hyundai sonata hybrid has always experienced issues with a loss of power as well as warnings illuminating on the dashboard which also would result in a check engine light and occasionally a complete shutdown of the car. When this issue was experienced a simple restart of the car would make it run normal again-even the trouble codes would clear out of the system after the 3rd reset (also completely wiping the code history)I was lucky and the car began to “limp” and throw the check hybrid system warning within 5 minutes of a local dealership. They found that the HSG “hybrid starter generator” was faulty via a voltage test. They explained that the HSG would cause the complete shutdown and poor performance of my vehicle due to incorrect voltage. This issue existed for many years and the dealership was unable to identify the source of the issue. This is extremely dangerous and seems to be a common occurrence. I complained about this issue directly to the dealer’s maintenance managers as well as escalated the issue to Hyundai Corp they also were unable to determine the part was faulty over many years and even told me to just “reset and keep driving”. Please investigate this issue it can be found all over the internet with a simple google search. I have even met a gentleman in the dealership with the same year Hyundai sonata hybrid limited and he also was experiencing the same issue-they were unable to identify or replicate the issue when the car was left with the dealer.

Ever since I have had my car there has been a wind sound like some this is dragging under my car! Been to dealership multiple times and they tell me that’s how these cars sound! Now oil is disappearing right after and oil change! They say my oil pan bolts were stripped out! Well the Hyundai dealership is the only people that have done my oil changes! Tried to charge me for that! I get an engine diagnosis check done and they tell me nothing is wrong with my car! Before I could make it home engine light was on! Took it back now they saying engine manifold! Want to charge me for that! Now car won’t go over 20 mph! White car paint has chipped from the front roof and hood of car! Driving I see multiple white vehicles with paint chipped in the same areas of the vehicle! Call corporate they know about the the issue. They want to spot paint the car! If you spot paint it doesn’t fix the growing areas of peel up! There is no reason a 2017 and newer models should have huge metal spots for paint peeling already! Only on white Hyundai Sonatas mainly! I have called corporate about every issue with my car and they seem to not care!

Hybrid system failed, lost power while driving on freeway going 65 m/h during rush hours, RPM gage went down to 0, most instrument light weee lit on dashboard. Speed went all the way down to 40 m/h pressing the gas all the way down. Hybrid system warning light was flashing. Could have been hit by other vehicles on freeway I had to put my hazard flashing signal and wait for the right moment to pull my car off the road and to emergency lane to stop. The first time car was towed to dealer. And dealer was able to confirm the Problem. The spent 2 weeks at dealer until the claimed they had to contact the manufacture and ended up replacing a wire harness they thought water got into it, paid over $600 for this fix. Few months later same problem they ended replacing some sensors due to a recall. A week later happened again all 3 time on the freeway. The check engine light was on few months prior to these issue and took to dealer multiple times since was still under warranty. But the problem kept coming back. They replace fuel injector then coil pack, the 3 time I was told the engine needs to be flushed and that not covered under warranty. The power steering system appears to be failing. There is no indication of the failure prior to failing. When making turns the power steering would randomly stop working, all emergency lights would turn on, and the steering would become extremely difficult to control. This becomes an extreme safety issue when I’m driving around other vehicles. I took my vehicle to a mechanic and they explained that the power steering is electronic, therefore power steering fluid will not fix the problem. Also, there’s an electrical issue with the windows as well. The passenger window can no longer can be controlled by the driver. Lastly, the AC has failed as well. It blows out only hot air. I’ve taken my car to the manufacture dealership and they assessed my vehicle for the AC problem, but they stated that it’s working fine. This is not true because I’ve continued to have problems with the AC, even after many failed troubleshooting attempts. To summarize my report, I have a total of 3 issues in order of importance, power steering, power windows/electrical, and air conditioning unit. My car is available immediately for inspection upon request. Thank you.

I was driving north bound on I-95 north in Georgia when I heard a loud bang and then at same time looked out my driver side mirror when I see the cover of my antenna flying down the road, which was dangerous since it could have it a car behind me, a car could have run it over and gotten a flat time, or a car could have seen it and made it swerve and caused an accident. When I went to look for a replacement Hyundai makes you buy the whole antenna at over $600 and when I went to look online, I found a lot of other Hyundai customers had same problem of their antenna cover just breaking off and, in my search, found cars Hyundai made by them had a recall on same thing in the year before mine was made.

I just bought this car about 10 days ago everything was great until about 2 days ago, I started feeing my steering wheel lock for a little bit or get extremely loose. It did that a couple times through out the day and everything was fine. Next day about the same thing. I thought it was weird. Now today I was driving and felt the same sensation of stiffness on the steering wheel but still able to drive then boom steering wheel locks completely and multiple lights come on. This was extremely scary and I'm already traumatized by other incidents in my life. I like the car but this error in the system is so risky. After turning the car off and on , steering wheel began to work normal. hopefully this does not happen when I am on highway !

Check Engine light on,, throttle stuck/revving high in idle. Vehicle lunges forward without touching the gas pedal. Difficult to keep brake applied to stop it from lunging forward. Yet, little to no power over 25mph. Vehicle still under manufacturer, dealer and wrap warranty which was purchased at the dealership at point of sale. Vehicle affected by theta II engine safety campaign. Hyundai extended the powertrain warranties for all affected vehicles. Manufacturer and dealer notified of the safety issue on vehicle. Both unconcerned and uncooperative. Upon attempting to get my vehicle serviced; Was first told 8 weeks before my car can even be looked at. That no loaners are available(I am entitled to a loaner of a vehicle in the same class as mine per my warranty)I reiterated the safety concern. Hyundai and dealership failed & continue to fail to make this issue a priority. Explained that I could not drive the car for 8weeks. That it's dangerous, its going to kill myself or someone else. At the very least it will cause injury. Still no solution offered by manufacturer or dealership. Hyundai representative gave me an itinerary #(?) for reference. Also, attempted to sell me another warranty. I explained that my vehicle was covered by THREE warranties. I don't NEED another warranty. I NEED my car fixed and for someone to make this safety issue a priority! My car was a CPO purchased 5/28/20. Less than 30days after sale the check engine light came on & the car started misfiring. It was able to be serviced quickly, a loaner was given to me promptly and the issue was "fixed". This has now reoccured 6 times. Each of those 6 times my car was able to be brought in and serviced quickly, a loaner given to me. The dealership nor the manufacturer will resolve the current safety issue. The car is going to cause bodily harm and/or a fatality & they will have blood on their hands.

I have had my 2017 since July of 2017. Specifically, I have a petal white Hyundai Sonata sport. Over this past summer I started to notice that there was paint chipping on my roof directly above the passenger side window. It has progressively gotten worse. The paint is peeling off in sheets as I am driving down the high way. I explored my options on how I can go about fixing this and have notice that this is a country wide issue with this specific color and make of car. I have been compiling information because I am currently over the 36,000 warranty. I see similar cars in my neighborhood and we all have the same issue. Additionally, my dolphin antenna flew off while driving. Which could have caused damage to others around me. Prior to this, it was a bit lose. But again this is another issue that seems to be more common in this model and make of car.

For the past several months, my vehicle has been burning oil. The oil lamp would only come on when the oil was completely gone and that would happen at least a month before I was set to get another oil change. This morning my check engine light came on for the first time and I was barely able to make it to work without my car stalling. I have not been able to have it checked because it just happened and I'm not even sure it will start when I leave work today. After just a short search online, I have found that other vehicles of the same year, make, and model have been recalled for similar things happening. Unfortunately, my car was not included in that recall even though I am experiencing the same issues.

The engine is stalling and shut off at a traffic light. Using oil on a weekly basis. Gas mileage is not efficient at all. No warning the oil pressure is low. The latch on trunk had to be replaced weeks after I purchased the car but I had to replace it cause it would not shut. And now there is a recall.

My Steering Wheel Would Lock Up On Me Sporadically & my EPS & ESC Malfunction Indicator Light Will come on & don’t illuminate, but once I cut the car off & cut it back on my steering wheel will go back to normal & the warning lights will go off. My car have done this multiple times out of the blue but this particular time it just did it again my warning indications light doesn’t illuminate even after turning the car on & off. I can’t drive because my steering wheel is very hard to steer. It’s nearly impossible to get a service appointment with Hyundai and my car is just sitting. I was driving and the steering wheel completely locked up. I was unable to turn. I had to turn the car off then back on in order to reset the computer. No warning lights prior to this. When it happened the light on my dash with a steering wheel and exclamation mark appeared. Very dangerous and appears to be a common issue. Vehicle has not been driven since. Where’s the recall? Does someone need to die first?

Steering wheel sticks at about 6:00 position, it takes an extra effort to move the steering wheel to the left or right. While this is occurring I experience dangerous and excessive lane travel. I hear a faint crack coming from the steering column at about the 6:00 position and then it feels like the steering wheel is loosening up again. It seems this problem is worsening and happening more frequent as time goes on. I have had the vehicle to the Hyundai dealership to be looked at and they stated that they could find nothing wrong. This occurs both on the highway and while driving around town at all speeds. I have searched the internet for recalls associated with this problem, but no recall, but a lot of complaints on line from other Hyundai vehicle owners experiencing this same issue. I do not enjoy driving this vehicle with this steering problem occurring all the time.

While being driven, the check in engine light came on. Next the battery light came on followed by the other lights on the dashboards. It then became difficult to accelerate and smoke began to come from under the hood. Then flames were noticed by a man passing and he began to point to the bottom passenger side of the car. The car was pulled over and more flames began. The passengers exited out of the driver side and the car was soon engulfed.

THE OIL PLUG FELL OUT AND SEIZED THE ENGINE. I BOUGHT THE CAR AND DROVE IT LIGHTLY FOR 2 DAYS THROUGH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. RIGHT BEFORE THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE CHECK HYBRID SYSTEMS LIGHT CAME ON, FOLLOWED BY THE OIL LIGHT, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (WITHIN THE SPAN OF AROUND 45 SECONDS). AFTER THE LIGHTS THE CAR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO THE GAS PEDAL AND SLOWED TO A HALT. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, THEY CALLED AND SAID THAT TE OIL PLUG IS MISSING AND IT CAUSED THE WHOLE ENGINE TO SEIZE AND NEED A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. AFTER RESEARCHING I'VE FOUND MANY OWNERS OF 2017 HYUNDAI SONOTA HYBRIDS TO HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE PLUG FALLING OUT. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO GETTING RECALLED.

TECH SAID ! WOW THAT LOOKS LIKE TWO MANUFACTURER DEFECTIVE TIRES ! WE CARRIED 2 TIRES BACK TTO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPT IN NPR & WILL TRY TO GET REIMBURSED BY HANKOOK ! MY TRUNK LATCH MECANISUM BROKE AND IT WAS TROUBLING TO THINK THAT MY PURSE OR LUGGAGE WAS IN IT OR I COULD NOT GET TO MY MEDS OR A SPARE TIRE IN THE EVENT IT WAS NEEDED. THERE IS NO WAY TO GET INTO THE LOCKED TRUNK ACCEPT TO TAKE THE ENTIRE BACK SEAT OUT UNLIKE MOST CARS WHERE YOU CAN PULL A LATCH ON THE BACK OF THE REAR SEAT AND BRING THE SEAT DOWN. I HAVE WHAT IS CALLED THE "SMART TRUNK" THAT OPENS WITHOUT THE USE OF A KEY IF YOU ARE STANDING IN FRONT OF IT. I HAD TO PUT OUT JUST UNDER $500.00 TO GET INTO THE TRUNK AND REPAIR THE LATCH. I DO HOPE THAT YOU CAN DO A SAFETY RECALL ON THE LATCH SOON. THIS HAPPENED TO ME AND I WAS NOT AT HOME AND I HAD TO WAIT TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT REPAIRED.

THE VEHICLE DOESN'T ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH, JERKS AND HESITATE. I CONTACT THE HYUNDAI DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, WILL NOT PROVIDE ME A LOANED VEHICLE AND WILL NOT COVER A RENTAL. MY WIFE JUST GAVE BIRTH TO OUR SON ON 03/21/2019 AND WE WERE DEPENDING ON THIS VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT THE BABY FROM THE HOSPITAL TO OUR HOME. I WAS BASICALLY FORCED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER COMPANY, BECAUSE THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE COULD NOT GIVE ME A DATE OR AN APPROXIMATION OF WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL BE FIXED. I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOWLY TO MAKE A TURN INTO MY GARAGE WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND HIT THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE BREAKING THROUGH A PATIO GUARD RAIL. THE FRONT WHEELS OF THE CAR WENT OVER THE BULKHEAD. INSURANCE COMPANY SENT A WRECKER TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAD OCCURRED ONCE WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE ROAD IN CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED BEYOND THE SET CRUISE CONTROL SPEED. THIS OCCURRED AGAIN ON THE DAY BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAD ALSO OCCURRED WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHILE IN SPEED CONTROL.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON 2.8.2019, MY SUNROOF VIOLENTLY EXPLODED. I WAS ON INTERSTATE 10 IN PHOENIX, AZ AT APPROXIMATELY 5:40 AM. NO VEHICLES WERE IN FRONT OR BESIDE ME. THE EXTERIOR TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 40 DEGREES, THE HEATER WAS ON IN THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 67 MILES PER HOUR, DOWN A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A LOUD BANG. THE CAR DID NOT SWERVE. INSIDE THE CAR I COULD NOW HEAR MORE ROAD NOISE. I OPENED THE SUNROOF SHADE ENOUGH TO SLIP MY FINGERS THROUGH AND FELT COLD AIR AND BROKEN GLASS.

WHILE I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT MY CAR CUT OFF. AFTER IT TURNED OF I TRIED STATING IT BACK UP 3 TIMES. FIRST I TRIED ONCE I PUT IT IN PARK ONCE IN NEUTRAL AND FINALLY THE THIRD TIME I WAS IN PARK AD IT STARTED BACK UP.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I HEARD A LONG NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. I THEN HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE AREA OF THE SUNROOF LIKE BROKEN GLASS. I HAD THE COVER CLOSED. HAD I NOT HAD IT CLOSED, GLASS WOULD HAVE BEEN FALLING IN ALL AROUND US. I PULLED OVER TO LOOK AT IT AND IT LOOKED A BOMB HAD EXPLODED. SOME PIECES WERE STILL ATTACHED BUT SHATTERED AND OTHERS WERE EVERYWHERE.

MY CAR HAS BEEN HESITATING AND CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHETHER I GO 25 MILES PER HOUR OR 70 MY CAR CONTINUES TO HESITATE. WHEN IT HESITATES I CAN REV THE CAR WITH THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR BUT MY CAR WONT ENGAGE. I HAVE TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND HOPE MY CAR RE-ENGAGES OR MY ENGINE WILL CUT OFF AND I HAVE TO RESTART IT. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES. 0N 11/22 ORLANDO HYUNDAI REPLACED LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. ON 12/18 PER THE TECH LINE SAYS HIGH RESISTANCE INJECTOR HARNESS AND FUEL RAIL HIGH PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDED REPLACING. ON 12/23 THE PCM HAS INTERMITTENT INTERNAL OPEN CIRCUIT. THE PCM WAS REPLACED AND FUEL LINE. 1/12-1/23/18 REPLACE CONTROL HARNESS AND CRANK SENSOR. I PLACED MY CAR INTO LEMON LAW. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HYUNDAI TO BRING MY CAR IN TODAY 2/22 I WAS ASKED IF I HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS AND TOLD THEM MY CAR HESITATED AT ODOMETER READING 10022 MILES THEY CHECK MY CAR AND WAS TOLD MY CAR HAS NO ISSUES FOUND. JOHN MC MY SERVICE ADVISOR DROVE MY CAR WITH ME IN IT HE SAYS HE KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT HESITATED ON HIM AND SAY BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. HE SAID TODAY WE DIDN'T RECREATE THE ISSUE SO WE BELIEVE YOUR CAR IS FIXED. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD WITH A 2015 SONATA. I TRADED THAT IN FOR A ELANTRA THAT WAS WAY TO SMALL FOR ME AND I TRADED FOR THIS 2017 SONATA. THIS CAR IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT WRONG WITH THIS CAR SO WHEN THIS PROBLEM ARISES TO ANOTHER HYUNDAI A SOLUTION CAN BE FOUND. JUST GIVE ME A NEW SONATA AND I WOULD BE HAPPY, I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH 6 MILES ON IT DO THE RIGHT THING HYUNDAI. IT'S AWFUL SCARY AT 70 MPH TO HAVE THIS HESITATION BEGIN. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR HYUNDAI TO DO SOMETHING (HAVE AN ACCIDENT?)

I BROUGHT THIS IN OCT 6, 2017 AT WIN HYUNDAI IN CARSON. A COUPLE WEEK LATER, I AM HAVING TIRE PRESSURE PROBLEMS. THE TIRES IS SLIDING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE STREET. THE TIRE PRESSURE KEEPS GOING UP AND DOWN EVERYDAY. I BROUGHT THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE, AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING IS WRONG BUT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE TIRES. LAST NIGHT, WHEN I PULL INTO A DRIVEWAY THE WHEEL WAS STRUCK UNTIL IT STOP. THIS CAR IS 2017 HYUNDAI SONATA SE. I NOTICED A DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU CHANGE TIRES BECAUSE THE TIRES ISN'T SLIDING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE STREET.

PURCHASED OUR 2017 SONATA SPORT IN DECEMBER OF 2016. IN JULY I HAD MY FIRST POWER STEERING ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON I LOSE POWER STEERING AND CAN BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WITH GREAT STRUGGLE AND TURN THE CAR OFF THEN RESTART IT TO BE ABLE TO GET POWER STEERING BACK. THE LIGHT FOR POWER STEERING ILLUMINATES ON THE DISPLAY PANEL AND THEN DISAPPEARS AFTER I RE-START IT. ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AT TIMES, BUT OFTEN JUST THE POWER STEERING FAILS. HAPPENS USUALLY AT SPEEDS AROUND 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. ONCE GOING 40. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME. CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE DISPLAY PANEL REPLACED BECAUSE ONLY ONE HALF WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE DISPLAY PANEL FAILED AFTER ONLY HAVING THE CAR 1 MONTH. TOOK OVER 3 MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME IN SO THEY COULD FIX IT.

ON SATURDAY 9/16/17 I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT SITTING STILL WHEN MY CAR STALLED AND WENT DEAD. I LOOKED AT THE DASHBOARD AND SAW THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE BRAKE WAS FROZEN AND BEFORE I COULD RESTART THE CAR IT ROLLED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THERE NO DAMAGE TO HER JEEP. HOWEVER MY CAR HIT THE SPARE TIRE AND RACK ON THE BACK OF HER TRUNK, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HOOD OF MY CAR, THE GRILL AND LOWER BUMPER. WE DID NOT EXCHANGE INFORMATION, AS SHE DID NOT HAVE DAMAGE TO HER CAR, SO SHE LEFT THE SCENE. I DROVE THE CAR HOME (2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE) AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN. I BROUGHT IT IN THE SAME DAY. RAYMOND, THE SERVICE AGENT CAME OUTSIDE TO SURVEY THE DAMAGE AND I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE WENT TO TALK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND LATER CAME OUT AND SAID THEY WILL TAKE THE CAR AND PUT IT ON THE MACHINE TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC READING TO SEE WHY THE CAR STALLED. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER CAR AND I LEFT. ON MONDAY, 9/19/17, I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER I GOT OFF WORK AND WAS TOLD BY RAYMOND THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG THUS FAR. HE SAID HE WANTED TO KEEP THE CAR ANOTHER DAY OR TWO TO TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE AND TRY TO SEE IF IT WOULD STALL AGAIN. I AGREED AND ASKED RAYMOND TO ALSO CHECK THE FUEL INJECTORS, FUEL PUMP, FUEL REGULATOR, AS MY FRIEND WHO IS A CAR MECHANIC SUGGESTED TO ME THAT THIS CAN CAUSE A CAR TO STALL ALSO. HE SAID OKAY. ON TODAY, WEDNESDAY 9/21/17, RAYMOND CALLED ME AND SAID THEY TOOK THE CAR OUT FOR A DRIVE AND IT DID NOT STALL, NOR COULD THEY GET A READING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WHEN THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE. HE SAID HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE CAR WOULD STALL. I ASKED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT AND HE SAID HE COULD ONLY GIVE ME A COPY OF THE SERVICE TICKET. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS CAR COULD STALL AGAIN AND WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING -- IT COULD BE MUCH WORST DAMAGE AND BODILY HARM. PLEASE HELP!
