Driving on interstate for approx 30min and the car stopped accelerating. We safely merged off to the side and the car completely shut off. The car would not start. We put oil in and it started up by engine light was on. We got vehicle towed 1hr back into town. We are lucky no cars were behind us to cause an accident. We are also lucky engine did not catch on fire. This happened completely out of the blue. I get my vehicle serviced regularly and serviced at Hyundai dealerships for major repairs. The engine failed us and is available for inspection. Our claim was denied by Hyundai due to my mileage being 10k over the warranty. However they installed the faulty engine so regardless of mileage this needs to be resolved.
The engine failed two years ago at 86000 miles. Hyundai replaced the engine for it to start knocking and stop working a year later. I completed all of the first oil changes, slow driving, ect. Seems like an engine problem with Hyundai itself.
I started having oil issues 3 years after purchasing my hyundai Tuscan 2015. I took my vehicle to hyundai several time all of which I was told by service guy and I quote “Hey its Hyundai, just following up so right now we have a consumption issue. It is currently 2.5 quarts low. The tech recommends re doing the oil change and returning in 1000miles and recheck. When you return and we see that the oil level is more than a quote low then we would have you reduce the service interval from 5000miles to 3000miles, let me know if you have any questions. I had many questions and also wanted to know why it was my responsibility to do all these things if they know the engine is faulty. Had another diagnostic and the code P1326 populated. That means indicates an issue with the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS), often pointing to actual engine knocking caused by worn connecting rod bearings, but also potentially to a faulty knock sensor, wiring problems, outdated ECM. The Theta II engines are documented to have clogged oil galleys, preventing proper lubrication and causing premature wear. They do everything the can NOT to fix the issue even with a lifetime warranty on that engine.
Without any notice, the crankshaft seized while driving 55 mph on the highway. We were on a highway with one lane in each direction and a shoulder. No warning lights appeared until after the engine failed. We were barely able to coast to the shoulder at the time. The incident blew a baseball size hole in the engine. The vehicle was towed to over 60 miles to Noller Hyundai of Lawrence, Kansas. The repair was paid for under the Hyundai warranty without me providing any maintenance records. The engine is not in our possession for you to inspect, but I'm sure you could reach out to the dealership where it was replaced.
engine is burning oil. have to replenish oil level once a month, started about a yr ago
On [XXX], my husband and I were driving on [XXX] (Highway) in the slow lane, when the engine shutoff without any Service engine light warning. It was frightening because an tractor trailer was directly behind the car as we lost power. There was no sounds of engine parts knocking or pinging when the problem occurred. The only thing was observed was (two) 2 puffs of smoke seen from the tailpipe, witnessed by my son who was following behind in his vehicle. The vehicle was not able to start after shutdown and had to be towed to my home. We purchased a new battery after assuming battery failure--with no resolve. The vehicle was towed to(two) 2 repair shops with the same conclusion: Seized Engine After checking Open Recalls on my vehicle, I contacted Hyundai to check for assistance. The vehicle is now at the Hyundai dealership in McDonough, Georgia for inspection. I am thankful that my husband and I were not injured or laying in a Morgue after this frighten ordeal on the highway when the Engine suddenly shutoff/Seized. The engine uses about 3 to 4 quarts of oil before a oil change the it will go in limp mode. I have to get it rest and then add oil for the engine to run right. Also transmission don't want to shift 3 to 4 gear it will be 35 mph to 65 before it shifts. When the car goes in limp mode I lose power going up a hill and almost got rear ended. They won't do anything do to its a used car. No lights came on the dash till it acts up.
--->While I was driving my hyundai tucson engine seized (-engine model (lm) 2.4l theta ii--> 63,664 miles). Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. ---> As I said before I was driving in a express way when the incident happened. My car just stopped working out of a sudden and I had to take the side road by applying a much force effort from myself not to get hit by several vehicles behind. When I finally managed to step aside, I sensed some sort of smoke smell. And also all warning lights from car dashboard came up with no prior lamp alerts before this incident. ---> I took the vehicle to the nearest repair shop called Sam's certified auto repair. And there it was diagnosed that the vehicle engine was seized. So i inmediately called the dealer and the asked me to tow my SUV. There they diagnosed the vehicle with a seized engine too. From there on I found out that these vehicle i bought have a recall and that the this engine model has a major malfunctioning manufacture issues. Then I tried to get an authorization approval for a new engine but it was denied because they stated that I have a savage title.
The engine completely shut off while I was driving 70 mph on the highway. I lost braking and steering power. I had NO warning, no lights came on at all. I bought it used on 11/20/2023 and I have only driven it 6,011 miles.
- My engine seized while driving North on [XXX] from San Diego to CA. After having it towed to a shop I was informed it was completely out of oil which caused the engine to seize and would need to be replaced. My last oil change had taken place within about 6k miles and should not have been out of oil. Additionally no oil light, engine light, or any light on the dashboard was on to notify me something was wrong. - I was on a major CA highway in the far left lane when the engine seized and would no longer accelerate. I was incredibly lucky to make it across 4 lanes and that there was an off-ramp right there so I could get off the highway. This could have caused a massive pile-up accident. - The first shop it was towed to confirmed no oil and engine seizure. Hyundai has only acknowledged I need a new engine but won't confirm it was due to lack of oil, likely because they know there are massive oil consumption problems with this Theta II engine. - Hyundai has now had my vehicle for 2 months and is denying warranty coverage as I cannot produce 2 out of 9 years of oil change records. I have provided the other 7, which include records of the last 4 years of consistent oil changes. - There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem before failure. There was no way I could have known anything was wrong or that this was going to happen. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Our 2015 Hyundai Tucson check engine light started flashing and went into "limp mode" while driving on the freeway. Limp mode means the car loses power to accelerate, struggles going up hills, and limits speed. Thankfully I was not pulling out. The vehicle was towed that day to a mechanic who found traces of metal in the oil (see documentation). The vehicle was then towed to the Hyundai dealer. The dealer explained there is a common problem with Hyundai engines failing due to rod bearing issues and PistonSlap. I later learned the dealership covers the rod bearing issues due to a court settlement from being sued for so many engine issues. The dealership said if they found it was an engine bearing rod issue (ring connecting to the piston) they would replace the engine since it was a safety issue. They claimed if it was a piston slap it would not be covered (even though the bearing rod is connected to the piston and could potentially cause PistonSlap). After checking that the car had been taken care of extremely well with oil changes around every 3 months and all safety procedures had been taken they performed a bearing clearance test. The test passed without error detection so they changed the existing knock sensor. We were directed to drive the car and if the sensor turned on again to bring the 2015 Tucson back. We did and a week later, the new Knock Sensor reported there was something wrong with the engine again. I also noticed when checking the oil that smoke came from the dipstick tube. We took the car to the Hyundai dealer again. They did the bearing clearance test again. It passed again but this time they detected a rattling noise coming from the engine block. According to the records the noise was loudest to cylinder 4. The dealer claimed we needed a new engine that would cost about $9,500. Clearly, this is a piston-manufactured defect. With metal floating in the oil and a limited piston warranty it encourages the owner to drive the car until it brakes.
Ticking sound (loud noise ) from the engine and the check engine light is flashing. The mileage on the car is 142600km.
Bought the vehicle as is with "1 owner, who was older" drove it off the lot and rest drove it, at 57,000 miles. Perfect...that was november 2023.. 3 days later my car was a little low on gas due to they didn't fill it and I left it be, started it drove about 15 miles and it starts sputtering and almost stalls out. Now here I am in June and beginning of June I hear ticking under hood, thinking it's my oil, I changed it (myself) and here it is 3 weeks later oil keeps burning hot, the oil.pressue light comes on when I brake and off when I give it gas, and I don't have any power what so ever when trying to accelerate and doesn't pick up speed unless I'm going downhill. I have 2 small children and a single mom working 5 days a week, I need this car to work. Please hellllpp me . We were going up a hill and I almost got rear ended because my car didn't have power. Not to mention the driver seat fuse keeps blowing out and the bolt keeps breaking so now I can't fit comfortably while.driving and my seat bounces constantly up and down when going over bumps. This was supposed to be my new beginning family car as this is the newest car I've ever owned and it's become an absolute nightmare and I'm scared for me and my children that the engine is going to blow up because that's what it sounds like or I'm going to get smashed by another vehicle due to the fact I have no power
Vehicle code P1326 Flashing engine light Knocking noises while accelerating Indicates of low oil level When accelerating in doesn’t want to accelerate and it feels like it wants to stall out and shut off
The passenger door handle will not open from the outside door after using keyless entry or door unlock. This put people at risk if someone is trying to rescue the person from an accident or other critical injury where one needs help to escape from the vehicle. There are numerous reports of this manufacture and model where the front doors or back passenger doors will not open. Carguru has a page listing this issue as well [XXX] The issue just happened one day when I tried to open the door for someone. This needs to be investigated. I have been told by a local mechanic that it would cost anywhere from $400 to $800 in repairs. The second issue is that the engine burns oil faster than normal. I have a normal commute to work and before the 3,000 mark for an oil change, my oil light comes on in my vehicle. I check the oil only to see that it's very low. My mechanic has stated that Hyundai Tuscan and the Kia Sorento have this engine issue. The burning of the oil is faster and the catalyst converter has to be changed faster due to high amounts of carbon being burned. Please look into this matter INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving our 2015 Hyundai Tucson on [XXX] outside of Sanford, Florida, [XXX], at 70mph, the car unexplainably lost all power and my husband had to veer into the right lane while avoiding traffic at high speeds, and pull onto the shoulder until the the car came to rest. This affected his safety, the cars in the right lane, the cars behind him, and his safety on the shoulder. When he tried to restart it, the engine light came on and he immediately drove home. The following day, we took it to our regular mechanic. After inspecting the vehicle, he told us our engine was completely “shot”. We called the Hyundai dealership in Daytona Beach, Florida. The engine light was on, so we paid to have it towed. The dealership called a couple of days later and after INSPECTION, stated the engine was seized, but it was under warranty. Later, we received a call saying it wasn’t under warranty because a KDSD “RECALL” was never completed. We had no idea what he was referring to, as we never received a RECALL notice regarding the KDSD. THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL ON A KSDS SYSTEM. ONLY A SERVICE CAMPAIGN THAT WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF. Therefore, the engine was a total loss and would not be replaced. THERE WAS NEVER A PRIOR INDICATION FROM ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR SYMPTOMS. Upon investigation, I learned that Hyundai was aware of this problem in 2018. Our vehicle was in for regular service on [XXX]. After reading many of the TSB Memos, Their Service Campaign began on [XXX]. We never received notice regarding this campaign. Nonetheless, as our car was in for service IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018, they should have made us aware, and performed the software update then and there. The software only warns the driver that there may be a problem. This update doesn’t improve THE ENGINE which is defective. It is abhorrent to me that they are still putting lives at risk. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ENGINE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 55
I went to get my car looked at a couple months ago and was told the oil pan was leaking . So the day I get it changed the car shuts off while I’m driving ; I began to loose acceleration, the oil light starts to flash , the engine light is flickering while the car is shaking making a knocking noise .
I have a 15 Hyundai Tucson that has been shutting off on me while driving on a highway going between 55 mph to 70 mph. Engine went into limp mode, CEL is on and flashing. Knocking noise heard from engine and consuming oil. Diagnosed with P1326 code. Brought to local Hyundai dealership. Even though road test stated normal operation, technician notes that vehicle DID stall, shut off, on return to the shop. No codes. Was told Hyundai would not pay for man hours to look into further. So allowed me to drive off their lot. Upon re-search I found, with NO help from local Hyundai or the dealership I purchased vehicle from, that my VIN number is associated with the E2 class action settlement that just went live May 2023, that my engine is indeed infected, like a cough before the cold, and has the potential of starting on fire/failure. Now I purchase this vehicle in 08/2023 with no disclosure of this very concerning problem. I am told by Hyundai USA that there is a paper trail that every affected VIN in the settlement has been notified, by law, to owners of affected VIN’s, and still not disclosed. I reached out to Hyundai USA at the national level, was given a case manager, who sent my case to the buyback/legal department. My case manager reached out and stated that my case has been denied due to age and mileage of vehicle (even though automatically extended to 15yr/150,000 miles) I asked what my next steps should be as my vehicle is still shutting off on me while driving and was told to have a different Hyundai dealership diagnose vehicle, but to not tell them all of the information of it already going to one Hyundai dealership. I was told if I hear a noise from the engine that I should pull off to the side of the road and call for a tow truck. I said so Hyundai USA feels good allowing this vehicle to be operated on highways knowing the symptoms I am experiencing. They obviously do not care for my safety let alone passenger safety, nor other motorist on roads.
Bought vehicle from dealership and 20 days later my car shut off as I was driving. Spoke to dealer they had me bring to her mechanic that she use since it was going to be in the shop dealer agreed to put new pads and rotors on. Picked up vehicle, ask them about the problem. They told me that it was all good and that they just cleaned up the mass air sensor that was dirty. Brought vehicle home. Mid of Oct driving down highway/55 mph vehicle shut off again on me this time it went into limp mode. Call dealership back and she wanted me to drive it to shop. I stated I’d did not feel comfortable driving it 45 miles in limp mode. Local shop Looked at it discussed with dealership. I finally spoke to the shop they gave me the information of the codes. Dealership texted me not phone call told me all about the code It was pulling and recommended that I take it to a Hyundai dealership as there is a service campaign on the vehicle. Dealership sent bank a copy of the service campaign. It states as required by federal law dealers must not place vehicle into customers use until campaign and all open recalls performed on vehicle. Campaign states it is a safety action. Campaign also states Q&A on the campaign. Hyundai strongly encourages customers to get this fixed. Also states what will happen if the wear in the engine bearings are malfunctioning. Also states that dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the engine. this is the second time vehicle has shut off while I was driving on Wisconsin highways. I have informed dealership that it was the second time that it has done this and that it was unsafe. Then I find out that the first shop I took it to that works with the dealership put in a used transmission a new Cadillac converter days before my purchase, and neither in person prior to signing purchase agreement nor on the Wisconsin buyers guide does it show that this dealership replaced anything into this car. I have only driven 1400 miles. I spoke with dealer, she won’t help!
I was drive home one night and the car cut off while I was driving I costed into a gas station good thing there was no other cars on the road. I call for a tow truck. The mechanic said it was a bad starter at first. A new starter was place in the car it started for 15 minutes and shut of they checked the starter it was working and that when I told me it was the engine. A very bad internal.engine problem
My 2015 Hyundai Tucson (62,000 mi) has been having issues of late, I’ve been to my mechanic several times and the last 2 times my car was completely out of oil. There weren’t any warning lights and I just felt it was running “weird.” Now I’m told there us a risk of the engine seizing, catching fire, etc. and I have to constantly check the oil. I’m a senior citizen, so this isn’t easy for me. There is an engine defect causing the cars to need excessive amounts of oil and as more damage occurs, the engine eventually fails. What if I’m on a highway and that happens? Please make Hyundai fix these engines or give us new cars or enough money to buy a new one. They are stalling and putting us all at increased risk.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that after reaching 100,000 miles, the vehicle started consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. Upon observing oil consumption, the contact stated that he had to add 1-quart of engine oil every 700 miles. The contact stated that previously the vehicle was receiving an oil change every 5,000 miles. The low oil warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic suggested that oil be added every two weeks due to the excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Financed for a 2015 Hyundai Tucson at Byrider. On February 25th 2023. Check engine light flashing as I'm losing power unable to stay within speed limit at 40mph. Byrider service asked me to bring it in. I did. They called me back and hour later told me to come get the vehicle and take it to Hyundai. I told them I didn't feel safe driving the vehicle it was hard enough getting the vehicle to them only able to drive 40mph on the interstate. I was told they would have it towed to Hyundai west off Pike plaza. They still haven't received the vehicle and I'm unable to reach Byrider service waiting for a return phone call. Please help what do I do now?..
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the recall repair performed on my 2015 Hyundai Tucson on October 5th, 2022. I have received numerous letters from Hyundai regarding an open recall and finally received a notice stating the remedy was ready. I scheduled an appointment with Matthews Hyundai of Syracuse and took the vehicle for the recall. Unfortunately, after taking the vehicle back to the dealership, I was advised that the check engine light was on and the issue was a result of a faulty knock sensor and purge valve. I was asked to pay more than $100 for the repairs. However, after further discussion, it was concluded that I wouldn't be charged. However, after only two days, the engine check light came on again, and the speed reduced to 45 MPH on the highway. I was then told that the problem was from the ignition coil and was charged $232.72 for the repairs. Despite paying the full price, the same problem occurred again, and I had to take the vehicle back to the dealership seven times, paying a total of $1,160.67. Throughout this recall repair failure, the vehicle's check engine light would come on, or it would randomly lose power, making a knocking sound and reducing speed even while driving. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle, and it has resulted in thousands of lost wages as it is the only vehicle I use for my work and personal use. On December 1st, I wrote a complaint to the New York division of vehicle safety and was advised to take the vehicle to a different Hyundai authorized dealership for diagnostics. I took the vehicle to Burdick Hyundai of Cicero, and after a week, they stated they were able to find the problem. However, Hyundai denied the claim for repairs on the vehicle. Since then the vehicle inspection has expired, and I took the vehicle to a shop for inspection. They stated they could not pass the inspection as the vehicle speed would not exceed 45MPH.
2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS DENIED DUE TO MAINTENANCE NEGLECT BASED ON FAILING TO PERFORM OIL CHANGES.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the solenoid was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the knock sensor was replaced. In addition, the vehicle lost motive power, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed as needing the knock sensor replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,500.

Driving on a 2 lane highway, engine shut off and left us stranded 2 hours from home. After the car being at the Hyundai dealer for a week, we get a text saying the engine had catastrophic failure. Internal bearing failure. Waiting to see if Hyundai with cover under 10yr/100,000 mile warranty. No light or anything came on prior to failure.
I have been receiving important safety recall notices from Hyundai Motor America since February stating they are preparing a remedy. The ABS modules could malfunction and result in an engine fire while I am driving the vehicle or it is parked. This is very concerning. Each time I have my car serviced I ask Hyundai service dept. to address the recall and I am told the part is not available.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately at 30 MPH, the check engine light illuminated frequently, and then turns off and reoccurs a few days again later. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer numerous times and diagnosed with no failure. The failure was not repaired; however there was a head gasket replacement, and then the check engine light started illuminated. The contact indicated the failure might be related to NHTSA Campaign Number 22V056000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

It has been OVER 6 MONTHS since there has been a recall on my vehicle (Hyundai Recall 218 / NHTSA Recall 22V-056). It is a MAJOR safety hazard which could cause an engine fire while parked or driving and there is no remedy as of today, Aug. 7th. This needs to be addressed asap. NHTSA might also want to check their numbers/email. The number provided on the safety recall docs automatically hangs up on me when I try to call NHTSA @ 888-327-4236, and the email address provided (https://www.safecar.gov) says site can not be reached.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V056000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that an independent mechanic had previously replaced the engine; however, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the rear brake light bulbs had failed and were replaced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the knock sensor needed to be replaced. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 189,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Even with have oil changes regularly and just about 2,000 miles ago *synthetic oil* the car started making very weird noises when accelerating and randomly having the oil light pop up. As I drove down the highway, with the pedal to the floor it would not speed up, the car then completely died and would not turn on. After having it towed and inspected they declared the engine was done and could not be fixed. They then informed me that because this issue is SO common it makes it extremely hard and expensive to find a replacement engine.
I was driving on the highway about 5 minutes away from home when I was avoid a reckless driver. (I called and reported it to the State police) Once I was trying to switch lanes my engine seized up in the middle of the highway. I keep up with the maintenance so I have no idea why it would do that. After getting towed and bringing it to the nearest dealership I was told my engine seized up and now I need to bring it to a Hyundai dealership to get it inspected before receiving service. I wont rice service until August 31st. This all new to me because my car fall in the recall of the many Hyundai's. How can I get rid of my vehicle as a second owner who bought t from a dealership? I don't feel comfortable or safe driving a vehicle like that.
Engine seized and needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 35 MPH and began to jerk and shake. The contact pulled off of the highway as the engine seized. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with rod bearing failure. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

While driving the vehicle suddenly went into a limp mode and had a flashing check engine light. The vehicle was in limp mode for approximately a half mile prior to having complete engine failure and shutting off completely. Vehicle has always been properly maintained. Dealer confirmed engine is seized. A manufacturing defect with the Theta II engine caused the premature engine failure. If this occurred on a major highway myself and other motorists would be put at a significant risk as there was limited time to act and find a safe place to roll to a stop.
My engine just started making a really loud noise and I lost all power to it
I currently represent Mr. Jeffrey Harvey as his attorney. Hyundai has failed to provide a remedy for more than four months for Mr. Harvey's vehicle. The recall campaign has not sent further instructions or details about the proposed remedy for the problem with the vehicle. Please advise as to exactly how long Hyundai has to come up with a remedy for the vehicle, and what exactly the options are for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the engine was seized. The contact was unaware if any warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and the mechanic retrieved fault codes: P0014, P0300, P0301, and P0441. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,051.

As part of Hyundai's class action lawsuit settlement, Hyundai promised to fix defective engines reporting the P136 error code and provide alternative transportation until the vehicle's defective engine is fixed. Instead I am without a car because Hyundai corporate claims they are "too busy" to fix it. For three weeks, Hyundai corporate has known that the engine of my 2015 Hyundai Tucson has reported the P1326 error code, and has been sitting at Key Hyundai at 4660 Southside BLVD; Jacksonville, Florida. Hyundai has refused to provide us with a loaner car, or authorize us to get a rental car, as required under the class action settlement, under the basis that the inspection has not yet been performed on the vehicle. When we asked for them to help find another dealership to inspect the vehicle, or any other assistance they could provide with alternative transportation, they refused. Hyundai assigned us a case manager, Ricardo (case number 19759747), who has repeatedly lied to us, and refuses to return our calls. For example, he claimed that he called the dealership to try to help us, even though the dealership reported no such call in their records and Hyundai confirmed that they did not have this call in their records. Hyundai refuses to assign anyone else to help with this matter. We have been calling Hyundai almost every day for three weeks and they have provided no assistance whatsoever. The constant theme has been to "sit and wait". I am requesting your office to help so that other Americans are not victimized by Hyundai. Hyundai promised to make the victims of their defective engines whole, and yet instead have vehicles subject to the class action lawsuit sitting around for weeks, and refuse to provide any assistance whatsoever with alternative transportation. Americans could lose their jobs and be forced into financial insolvency because of Hyundai not honoring their settlement agreement.
My car has been subject to safety recall for its anit-lock break system module system since February 2022. It is now the middle of May, 2022. Hyundai, in the Sacramento area of California, says they do not have parts in stock for performing the mandated recall and will not call me back or give me any estimate for when I can have the part. The Hyundai of America representitive just told me I could keep calling, putting the burden on me, and not assisting me further in terms of becoming part of a list of people that still need the recall done, etc.. The notice says my car's engine compartment might catch on fire while parked or driving without this recall. That's pretty ridiculous and unsafe. They need to provide a remedy.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-55 MPH, he heard abnormal sounds coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under an unknown recall as the VIN was not included. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times where it was diagnosed that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The independent mechanic advised the contact to bring the vehicle back after 1,000 miles. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the failure was diagnosed as an engine combustion failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

1. The engine lost oil without giving any warning. 2. Vehicle stopped in traffic and could not restart. 3. Yes (an independent service center). 4. Yes (others) the oil pump in the engine stopped working). 5. No warning light.
I bought My SUV on January 14th 2022, and it presented a recall problem on February 05th, 2022. On the way from Bethlehem to New York, my daughter was driving the vehicle, when it slowed down in the middle of the highway, put my daughter live in risks and it did not accelerate and she moved to the edge and called 911. I called the AUTOProved staff, the dealership I unfortunately bought my SUV from, immediately when my car broke down. On February 23rd the warranty company sent me a tow truck, which picked the vehicle to the dealer's shop from my house, and the Dealer's staff have been providing misleading information to me ever since. (They told me I couldn't call Hyundai, because this vehicle was in their name.) Now, I completely understand that my car might not be the only one they or you have to work with, however, as you may notice it's been two entire months and neither the dealership, nor the Hyundai company have provided me with neither a solution, nor any service, or helpful information to my problem. I've exhausted every possible method to get an answer from the dealership. I've emailed them, called them, personally went to the site several times, sent them messages, and they have been giving me false information about my vehicle, ignored my calls, picked up and said they will call me back with information and never called, or say that nothing can be done about my car and/or that it is MY responsibility to pay for the recall problem of my car for it to be fixed after previously telling me that I didn't have to pay for anything and as you state on your letter to me. On March 18th 2022 the AUTOProved staff, told me that my Tucson was towed to their shop and that they will have to work on it because you, Hyundai, refused to fix the problem. Lastly on March 31st I called the Warranty company to claim the rental car refund, but they said that they did have not a claim for the vehicle from the dealer staff.
Previous History: Vehicle already required an engine replacement - short block assembly. Current Details: DTC P01326 - While driving - Check Engine Light blinks & vehicle's acceleration is immediately reduced, causing dangerous disruption to the flow of traffic while merging into traffic from exit ramps, at traffic lights, stop signs, turns etc. Has been to dealer 3x for diagnosis and repair. Jan 2022 - 1st attempt - Knock Sensor replaced (Recall 966 was performed in Nov 2021) 2nd attempt - Knock Sensor software updated - 3rd attempt - Knock Sensor disconnected and reconnected. After each repair attempt the vehicle continued to suffer reduced acceleration and blinking check engine light while driving within a day or two. 4th time - DTC P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low & DTC P2191 System too Lean at Higher Load (Multiple) (Bank 1). These are "new" codes discovered by subsequent Hyundai dealership after the 3rd repair attempt unresolved by the original selling dealership. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. The warning check engine lights did appear at the same time as the reduced acceleration and occurred each time spontaneously while driving. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There are additional complaints involving 2015 Hyundai Tucsons listed on the NHTSA website which I do not see connected to a current or previous recall. However, I do see Hyundai issued a recall # 207 in 09/2021. Please note the similarities of referenced complaints show the first 8 characters KM8JT3AF of the VIN show a direct correlation to manufacturer and engine types. Also note, there is an open unresolved recall # 218 with the potential to cause fires and currently has NO REMEDY available. Recommendations from Hyundai are to park vehicle away from buildings and continue driving even with fire hazard?
While driving down an interstate I accelerated to pass a semi truck. Immediately after passing the truck I took an exit and about halfway off the ramp my car lost all power...no noises or notifications. Had to coast to side of road. Once car was off thr road the engine light oil light and battery light were all lit. I bought a new battery and it did not fix my car. I had a mechanic look at my car and they believe the engine siezed up. The dealership said there is 3 recalls now on my car but engine is not one of them though is probably should be. Was told it would take 3-4 months to get my car in due so many needing repaired. I do not understand how this hasn't been recalled yet. I had my 1 yr old and 2 yr old in the car with me. If my car had quit just 10 seconds earlier we would have likely died. This is not ok for them to keep selling these cars with engine problems. Someone needs to open a lawsuit against hyundai.
My husband had taken my vehicle to work one day. He called me and told me that the car had shut off and wouldn’t restart. He had just turned onto a major highway and was able to pull off to the side of the road. We thought it might have been the key fob, so I brought the other fob with me. Still nothing. The brakes were stiff and the dash would light up, but the engine wouldn’t turn over. We had the car towed back to our home. We replaced the battery and starter, and after doing research, have come to the conclusion there is something in the engine that is causing the engine to not turn over. We believe we’ve narrowed it to the timing chain. Our next step is to take it to the dealership and have it evaluated, but possibly looking to upgrade.
After inspection by the mechanic it was determined that the engine seized. The vehicle is currently at the garage and is available. At the time the engine seized we were on the highway with a speed limit of 70 mph. The vehicle shut off but luckily I was able to pull over safely onto the shoulder. I had my entire family in the vehicle so I definitely feel our safety was at risk. The vehicle has only been inspected by my mechanic. The oil was changed less than two months ago and was changed at regular intervals. There was no warning lights or messages prior to the vehicle losing power. Once it lost power the oil light and engine light came on.
Our 2015 Tucson has the G4NC DOHC GDI engine, which unfortunately isn’t listed in any current engine settlement as of the writing of this complaint. Our engine started to rev at considerably high rpms while driving up hill, followed by a subsequent loss of power and speed. We managed to make it to the top of the hill and pull over, traversing over multiple lanes in front of on-coming semi trucks and other fast moving traffic with our hazards on. Upon pulling over, our engine died. There were no red or amber warning/caution lights on the dash, nor did the check engine light illuminate during the incident. After a few attempts at restarting the engine, we finally got it started and drove it home and brought it to the dealer the next day. They diagnosed it as a “clogged catalytic converter.” Although seemingly a secondary issue, and no further information as to what actually caused the clog in the vehicle inspection report, we reluctantly dished out the $3,200 for the repair of the vehicle we so desperately needed for work. They also installed a “knock-sensor” update. A couple months later… When driving the vehicle to work, the check engine light illuminates and flashes on and off continually. After pulling the vehicle over to a stop and consulting a Hyundai mechanic, I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership for diagnostics. Turns out the knock sensor update is what caused the engine light to illuminate to “prevent severe engine damage,” and I’m left with a large bill for engine repairs. Will the G4NC engine be investigated by the NHTSA? Will Hyundai honor my drive train warranty? Will Hyundai Corporate ever call me back? Tune in next week…
Driving down the street and the vehicle suddenly shut off in the middle of the roadway. Vehicle would not restart. Engine oil leaking out of tail pipe was noticed when vehicle was being placed on tow truck. Towed to Hyundai. They say seized engine and not covered under warranty due to low oil. No lights came on dash to include low oil or check engine. Only 66,000 miles. Oil last changed less than 4,000 miles. If there was no oil then how is it possible oil leaking from tail pipe. Looked at similar complaints. Appears rods and bearings are braking in these motors. 55 mph road when car suddenly shut off. Could have seriously injured driver. Could have caused serious accident. Hyundai does not stand by their product and warranty.
My engine ceased while driving, leaving me stranded on the road. I had it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer that was supposed to do any warranty repairs. Prior to this, I was needing to replace the oil, about 1 quart per week. I did my routine service maintenance and they tried replacing a seal or gasket but that did not stop the problem from reoccurring. When the car was brought to the dealer, the oil was low but there still was some oil in the engine. My engine light never came on to warn me about any issues. The car was sluggish and sputter which was when I would check the oil and put more oil in. I know there was a lawsuit which was settled with engine problems for the same make, year and model as mine but I have not received any recall notice for engine problems for my vehicle.
Twice in the last nine months (roughly December 14, 2020 at 67,000 miles & 9/7/21 at 84,300 miles) I have been left stranded on the side of the highway due to what two different Hyundai dealerships call "complete engine failure", which requires the replacement of the entire engine. Ultimately, when I asked what a "complete engine failure" entailed, the dealerships both told me there were metal flakes throughout my engine and that the engine had to be replaced. Both times the symptoms were as follows: loss of acceleration and a horrible ticking noise. The gas pedal is pushed to the floor and the car will not move forward. "Pop" or "Knock" and the engine starts smoking. No check engine light. No check oil pressure light. This is all within about 2 minutes. Moving from 65mph to 0 in a matter of 90 seconds without braking, when you have a semi truck behind you is terrifying. You put your hazards on immediately, pull over as soon as possible, and pray that nobody hits you. You try to stop and your brakes don't seem to be doing their job but you are finally able to stop. Once you've pulled over and the car stops smoking, you pop the hood. Immediately you notice the dipstick for the oil is about halfway out of the engine and oil has exploded everywhere under the hood. I purchased the car 14 months ago and so far, four of those months it has been undriveable due to complete engine failure, requiring replacement and fighting with Hyundai to do the right thing and repair it, which they refuse to do. Even when there is an active campaign (Campaign 966) to update the software to trigger a warning light. The campaign was issued 3/30/21 & I just received notification via first class presorted mail to have the software updated on 9/11/21. They say they won't make the repairs because it is out of warranty. I call lies. This is a direct result of failing to notify me in a timely manner to get the software update that would have at least supposedly triggered a warning light.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, she noticed that the check engine warning light was illuminated. A few days later the contact was driving to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic when the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. The contact was able to get the vehicle to restart and get the vehicle slowly into a neighborhood where the vehicle stalled again. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

My car Tucson is 2015 model. Since early 2018, RPM has risen while driving, cars have been shaken, and engine check lights have continued to come in. When I went to the car repair shop and checked, my car said it was an engine piston defect. And engine oil also disappears 500 to 1,000 miles after replenishment. So I have to make up for it regularly. I'm very nervous about the car, so I have to turn on the engine before departure and leave after 5 minutes, and I have a lot of inconvenience due to this and that problems. I want to know more about what my car is like and I desperately need your help.
On April 16, 2021 my husband was driving our 2015 Hyundai Tucson home from work at 10:30pm. Upon entering Interstate 77 S the Tucson suddenly came to a complete stop. He was able to get it off the side of the interstate. There were no dash lights that came on or noises to give warning this was about to happen. We had not had any issues with the vehicle till then. We had the Tucson towed to the car lot where we had purchased it on 12.26.2020. This could have caused accidents that could have harmed not only my husband but others traveling that interstate that night. Other than the mechanics that replaced the engine and an individual from Warranty Solutions no one else inspected the blown engine. We spent $6948.55 for a rebuilt engine and labor. We were without our vehicle from 04.16.2021 until 08.28.2021. Hyundai had a recall on engine components but for some reason ours was NOT included. I strongly feel it should have been. Not only did this failure put my husband in danger but also anyone traveling that interstate that night.
At 40,000 miles with no warning engine stalled while driving Upon inspection by dealership Bore Scope Scarring on all cyl walls predominate on 1 and 2 rf suspects lower engine issue Oil change records were provided
Driving down the road and suddenly the check engine light came one and the engine started producing a knocking sound. I called several dealerships and had a couple of them run the VIN, which they said there are no recalls. However one dealer had mentioned that Hyundai vehicles, including Tucsons are starting to come in at astonishing rates with the same problem I have. I called Hyundai USA and they said there have been some known issues with engine failure describing the same problems mine has along with some known to have increased oil consumption, but they do not know why. They even said that sometimes the owners would not know of the increase in oil consumption and it could in turn cause engine fires. Any dealership I have contacted said due to the increase of vehicles brought in with the same problem, they are unable to even look at my vehicle for a month and to repair is possibly several months out.
I purchased this vehicle after it had been leased. I purchased it with 48K miles in December 2018. I have maintained the vehicle, per the manufacturer's guidelines. In July 2021,at 69K miles, a high-pitched whirring sound came from engine when gas was applied. The noise did not occur when vehicle is in idle. The noise came suddenly when I was accelerating getting on a highway (on ramp). I took to my trusted mechanic immediately and they haven't been able to diagnose the issue at this time. However, they found busted metal pieces in the pan and have ruled out more common issues, like serpentine belt, timing belts, and exhaust. My mechanic was so far into the engine trying to find the clearly broken part (or parts), that it will be more cost effective to just replace the engine. I contacted my local Hyundai dealership, and they ignored my emails (until this point). A safety concern is that the car could still be driven, even though there was clearly something wrong with the engine. There were no warning lights of any kind in the dash, before or after the engine sound came on. Also, a qualified mechanic could not find/replace the broken part, and Hyundai is ignoring my engine issue requests. I also contacted Hyundai USA and am waiting for a response. The vehicle's engine, if defective, is out of warranty because I am second owner. The second owner warranty only lasts to 60K miles.
Engine failure. I changed car oil and filter every 3,000 miles. A strong noise came from the engine and Pep Boys mechanic say I needs oil. I changed oil ,drove one mile and the car stop.
I was driving and there was a knocking noise from the engine and loss of power. I opened the hood and noticed a pulley on the belt that looked loose and had the car towed to the dealership. According to them they know this particular engine Theta model has been an issue for fires and engine failure with components breaking internally but no recalls have been addressed for my VIN number even though there are hundreds of thousands of customers with the same issues and only some recalls have been made. Ultimately leaving the customer with the bill. This is a very dangerous situation and reading hundreds of comments on various sites and these incidents happening in other countries as well with this engine, there should be a huge investigation and something being done about this.
Engine seized, yes available for inspection, no prior warning lamps, messages or symptoms, car just stopped. Fortunately this happened on a backroad and not on interstate 95 between home and school. Manufacture said they would not help, seized engine determined by mechanic, no oil. Car maintained as recommended by manufacturer. I'm now finding out this is a common problem with this make and model, it burns oil and engines seize. Who allows cars to be on the road that seize up!!!
Vehicle was being driven and was alerted that smoke was emerging from the engine and then a pop was heard, car was pulled to the side and shut off. Opened hood and engine was on fire and wouldnt stop. Bystanders tried helping but fire couldnt be contained and the entire Tucson engulfed in flames. Hyundai claimed no recalls for that model and couldnt help in any way. Vehicle was completly factory with 0 aftermarket modifications. 2015 Hyundai Tucson.
The vehicle suddenly reduced power on 05/27/2021 while my 82-year old mother was driving home. When I checked the car, the check engine light was blinking. I Immediately took to a service center and noticed the same low power 'limping' performance and a knocking sound (previously unheard). On Friday, 05/28/2021, the service manager provided an update: that they found Diagnostic trouble code p1326 related to engine inspection. Performed oil change. Cleared the diagnostic code. Ran the engine. Could hear an internal knock at higher RPMs. Will need engine replaced or rebuilt. No parts are available to replace or rebuild at this time. They contacted Hyundai with the VIN who said the vehicle was out of warranty (110,000 miles). Drove the vehicle home (two blocks) at low RPMs with no issue. There was no previous indication there was any potential issue with the engine. Maintenance and oil changes have been completed on a regular basis. There were 600+ miles before the next 5,000-mile oil change was due. Drove the car the next morning, Saturday, 05/29/2021, to see about trading the car in at the local Hyundai dealer (5.1 miles away) before the situation got worse and purchase a new vehicle. I was expecting the car would be drivable - at least at lower RPMs. The car immediately began to lose power, the check engine light began blinking and stalled three times in traffic before crawling onto the dealer's lot. They had a mechanic look at the vehicle, said the engine was shot and offered $250 as all they could do was junk it since engine parts were scarce and it would not be cost-effective to replace the engine even though the body was in good shape. I felt I had no choice but to accept as it was now clear the vehicle was unsafe to drive. For the engine to die within about 15 miles of the initial onset without warning and the sudden loss of power, is a dangerous situation is this is waiting to happen to other vehicles.
I was driving down the road when suddenly the car started rattling. The oil light blinked on then off. The engine then made a squealing noise, the battery light came on, and then the engine froze. The accelerator pedal and the steering wheel were stuck. I turned the car off, but it wouldn’t restart. Thankfully, I was on a quiet neighborhood street and not in the middle of a busy highway when this happened. I had it towed to the dealer, who inspected it and stated that I needed to have the entire engine replaced. I then had it towed to another dealer for a second opinion, but they also said the engine needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, since I am not the original owner, Hyundai claims the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty does not apply, even though the car only has 85k miles.
THE VEHICLE LOSSES POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT WILL ALSO NOT SHIFT IN GEAR WHEN SUPPOSE TO. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND SERVICED. OUT OF NOWHERE ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHEN TRAVELING HOME FROM A TRIP. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT EVEN MAKE IT UP A HILL BECAUSE THE POWER WAS COMPLETELY LOST.

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH DURING 5:15 RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THERE WAS NO COMBUSTION, BUT THE BATTERY WAS STILL WORKING. WHEN I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE ENGINE HAD LOST COMPRESSION AND COMBUSTION AND NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THE CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

CAR WAS DRIVING FINE, LOST ALL POWER TO A VERY SLOW CREEP, MAKING A VERY STRANGE SOUND IN ENGINE, FRIED STARTER AND NOW WON'T WORK AT ALL. EVERYTHING PEOPLE SAY THE THETA II ENGINE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN WE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THIS CAR...BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. WE HAVE NOTICED EXTRA OIL CONSUMPTION BUT FIGURED DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE. WE HAD A MECHANIC COME OUT AND HE SAID THE THINKS THE ENGINE IS FRIED OR THERE IS SERIOUS PROBLEMS. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. THIS ALL DURING COVID, MY HUSBAND IS HIGH RISK WE HAD TO GO BUY ANOTHER CAR AS WE DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO FIX. I NOW HAVE 2 HEFTY CAR PAYMENTS WITH 1 VEHICLE WORKING. I NEED HELP TO KNOW IF THIS ENGINE DISPLAYING ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS WILL TOO BE RECALLED .

MY CAR IS CONSUMING OIL - APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART PER EVERY 300 - 500 MILES. A REPAIR SHOP SAID THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I HAVE PAID OVER $500 SO FAR (REPLACED GUAGES, SPARK PLUGS, AND MORE) - I HAVE COMPLETED THREE OIL CONSUMPTION REPORTS (THE DEALERSHIP IS CHECKING THE OIL)- AND THE DEALER KEEPS SAYING THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT CARS AND ENGINES, BUT FEEL I AM GETTING CHEATED. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.

SO GLAD I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY! I HAD IT TOWED AND THE MECHANIC AND HA HAS CONFIRMED THAT IT IS A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE - I NEED A NEW ENGINE. CALLED THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID I'M OUT OF WARRANTY (5 YEARS / 60,000 MILES). I WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IF THIS HAPPENED A MONTH EARLIER. LOOKS LIKE I GOT TO PUSH THIS UP HILL. ON NOV. 4 2020 AT 2PM, WHILE DRIVING ON F8 EAST FREEWAY ENTERING THE TURN ONTO CA125, MY 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON'S ENGINE BLEW WITHOUT WARNING. THE DASH LIGHTS LIT AS THE CAR LOST POWER THE HOOD BLEW OPEN AND SHUT AND MY 31YR OLD DAUGHTER WAS FORCED TO ALLOW THE CAR TO GLIDE TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. IN A DANGEROUS SPOT. .SHE COULD NOT SEE IN FRONT OF THE CAR UNTIL THE HOOD FELL BACK DOWN. THE DANGER IS THE FACT THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS, THE HOOD BLEW UP AND THE CAR HAD STOPPED WHERE THERE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR OTHER CARS TO PASS WITHOUT TAPPING MY SIDE MIRROR AND A HUGE TRAIL OF OIL LEFT BEHIND. SHE GOT OVER TO THE PASSENGER SEAT QUICKLY AND ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS SINCE IT WAS HOT OUT. FIRST SHE CALLED EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY. THEY TOOK OVER 2 HRS TO ARRIVE .WHILE MANY CARS DROVE QUICKLY BY BARELY MISSING MY CAR. SHE CALLED ME NEXT IN FEAR OF HER LIFE AND THEN CALLED HER DAD AND HE STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH HER UNTIL THE TOW ARRIVED .I ONLY HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 1 YEAR. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON JUNE 23, 2020 FROM REG OIL TO A SYNTHETIC BLEND. UPON CALLING HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE IT WAS SUGGESTED TO TOW THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF ITS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE ENGINE IS SEVERELY DAMAGED THE BEARINGS WERE DESTROYED AND A ROD THROWN. THE OIL FILTER WAS BLOWN OFF. MY CAR HAD NO PREVIOUS LEAKS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI/KIA FOR MY CARS YEAR BUT WITH THETA 1 AND !! ENGINES. MINE IS A GASOLINE DIRECT ENGINE THAT ALSO HAS PROBLEMS PER CAR COMPLAINTS.COM. WHAT ALSO MAKES THIS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS IS THAT I USE THIS CAR FREQUENTLY TO TRANSPORT MY 11YR OLD DISABLED GRANDSON TO RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL APPTS SINCE HE HAS CEREBRAL PALSY AND POOR HEAD AND NECK CONTROL. SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAVE NOT ONLY SNAPPED HIS NECK BUT ALSO CAUSE MASSIVE FATALITIES ON THE FREEWAY..

THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR WHICH FOLLOWED UNDER THE CAMPAIGN 958 WHICH WAS UNKNOWN TO ME UNTIL MY CAR ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING ON I-5 HIGHWAY. DUE TO THE FACT I DID NOT KNOW OF THE RECALL WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST AUTO SHOP. THEY WERE UNSURE OF WHAT CAUSED THE SEIZE AND TRIED TO REPLACE THE STARTER (COST AROUND $340). THE AUTO SHOP GOT IT TO TURN ON BUT THEN HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE AND SUGGESTED IF I CALLED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I CALLED AND GOT THE CONFIRMATION THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND GOT IT TOWED TO THEIR PARKING LOT(AROUND $98). I BELIEVE IT WAS A MONDAY WHEN IT MADE IT TO THE PARKING LOT AND SAID THE TECHS WOULD HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT AND SEND UP AN APPROVAL IF THE ENGINE IS COVERED AND TILL THE CONFIRMATION CAME THROUGH I WOULD HAVE TO GET A RENTAL OUT OF POCKET. SO FROM MONDAY TO THURSDAY I HAD TO GET A RENTAL THROUGH ENTERPRISE(AROUND $350) BECAUSE ON THURSDAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT I WAS APPROVED AND COULD GET ONE OF THE DEALERSHIP RENTALS TILL THE REPAIRS WERE MADE WHICH RESULTED IN MY ENTIRE ENGINE BEING REPLACED. I HAD THEIR RENTAL I BELIEVE FROM FRIDAY TO THE NEXT THURSDAY AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO PICK MY CAR UP. AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE I SUBMITTED TO THE REIMBURSEMENT BRANCH ALL THE EXPENSES I PAID WITH THE RECEIPTS THAT WAS EARLY JULY WHEN I GOT CONFIRMATION THAT IT WAS RECEIVED. SINCE THEN I HAVE REACHED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES TRYING TO GET AN UPDATE FOR HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE AND IF I COULD SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR OR EVEN HAVE THE PERSON WORKING ON MY CASE REMOVED TO SOMEBODY ELSE TO MAKE THINGS WORK FASTER. I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T HAVE SUPERVISORS AND THAT MY CLAIM IS WITH HIGHER MANAGEMENT FOR APPROVAL AND THAT IT HAS BEEN THERE SINCE THE 6TH OF AUGUST.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A LEASE RETURN AT 36K MILES. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR ALL THE RECOMMENDED SERVICES AND ALSO THE OIL CHANGES AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AT ALL TILL NOW. AT JUST OVER 70K MILES I WAS DRIVING AT 75MPH AND THE ENGINE LURCHED AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE FASTEST I COULD GO WAS 60MPH. THE ENGINE HAD A WICKED KNOCKING SOUND. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SO I TOOK IT THERE. THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THANKFULLY I HAVE THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE & POWERTRAIN UP TO 100K, SO HYUNDAI IS EATING THE COST. BUT IT IS STILL WILDLY CONCERNING TO ME! I'LL FOR SURE BE SELLING THIS CAR BEFORE IT HITS THE 100K WARRANTY.

I'VE DONE MY REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE I'VE PURCHASED. DROVE TO TWO PLACES TODAY, AFTER SECOND PLACE ON START UP OIL LIGHT CAME ON WITH VERY LOUD ENGINE KNOCKING. CHECKED MY OIL TO FIND NONE ON THE DIPSTICK, FILLED BACK UP WITH RECOMMENDED OIL AND SOME OF THE NOISE WENT AWAY. STILL HAS VERY PROFOUND KNOCKING NOISES IN THE ENGINE BLOCK WITH LACK OF POWER. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH 44,500 MILES NOW HAS 50,500. SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE AT THIS MILEAGE AT ALL. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT WILL BE DONE. THIS VEHICLE HAS COMMON PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE.
Mileage: 50,500
MY PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH OTHER DRIVERS. I WAS DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT WHEN I TURNED A CORNER AND THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THEN DIED. NO WARNING SIGNALS CAME ON. NO LEAKING FLUIDS. VEHICLE WOULDN'T START UP ANYMORE. BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND STILL UNABLE TO START THE CAR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TESTED THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND NEITHER ONE WAS THE PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS A LOCKED UP MOTOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.

ON JULY 12, 2019, I WAS DRIVING TO MY HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 10:00 IN THE EVENING. I WAS APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES FROM MY HOUSE WHEN MY ENGINE SEIZED AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION. I AM VERY GRATEFUL THAT, THANKS TO MY FATHER AND A GOOD SAMARITAN, I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD BY AN AUTHORIZED HYUNDAI MECHANIC THAT MY ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CONSIDERING THE CAR ONLY HAS 86,000 MILES AND ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AND NO MECHANIC HAS EVER SAID THIS WAS A POTENTIAL ISSUE BEFORE, I FIND THIS TO BE UNACCEPTABLE.

HYUNDAI RECALL. I AM A 65 YEARS OLD, I PURCHASED THIS CAR ON NOV 2018 AND AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE, THE FLAMES CAME THROUGH THE FLOOR PANEL AND THROUGH THE VENTS. MY ENTIRE AREA WHERE THE GAS & BRAKE PEDAL ARE BURNED UP, THE RADIO AREA AND CONSOLE AREA IS CHARRED BEYOND RECOGNITION. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE ENTIRE CAR WAS IN FLAMES.

THE IDLE COMPONENT ON THE ENGINE SPUTTERS. IT'S BEEN SPUTTERING SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT. I MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING, BUT THE SPUTTERING IS GETTING WORSE AND AS THE CAR SITS IDLING WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKES OR IN PARKED OUT NEUTRAL IT'S SPUTTERS LIKE IT'S GOING TO CUT OFF.

RECEIVED 2 RECALL NOTICES TO HAVE THE ENGINE CONTROL SOFTWARE UPDATED WITH AN ANTI-KNOCK PREVENTION FEATURE. WE UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AT THE DEALER BEFORE THE SECOND LETTER FROM HYUNDAI WHICH NOTIFIED US THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL LIMIT ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND VEHICLE SPEED IF ACTUATED, AND THAT WE SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR SHOULD THIS OCCUR. THIS IS PERCEIVED TO BE A SALES GIMMICK FOR HYUNDAI THAT IS UNAVOIDABLE IF ACTUATED. THE HYUNDAI 1-800 HELP LINE COULD NOT ANSWER THE QUESTIONS REGARDING AN OPTION TO REMOVE THE SOFTWARE TO AVOID THIS EVENT, OR THE COST TO MAKE THE MANDATED REPAIRS WHEN THEY OCCUR. THEY ALSO PROMISED A 120,000 WARRANTY UPDATE NOTIFICATION THAT WAS NEVER SENT TO US PROMISED 3-5 DAYS AFTER INSTALLATION. WE PERCEIVE THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COMMANDS YOUR VEHICLE INTO A LIMITING STATE. THE RECALL IS LABELLED: PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN NUMBER 953. 2015 HYUNDAI TIUCSON, A CAR WE OTHERWISE LOVE, AND A 3RD HYUNDAI IN 7 YEARS.

THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE IS THAT THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS AT ALL. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, NO OIL LIGHTS, OR ANY SENSORS THAT POPPED UP FOR THAT ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WITH THIS ENGINE. I HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED HIM WITH A ENGINE PROBLEM AND SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD IT THEN TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK WITHOUT GIVING ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. I CANNOT RECEIVE A LOANER CAR BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND MY AFTERMARKET WARRANTY IS STILL TRYING TO INVESTIGATE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE AND NO ONE ELSE IS HELPING ME. I'VE BEEN OUT OF WORK NOW FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS WITH NO VEHICLE NO EXPLANATION, BUT YET THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ALL THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET ABOUT THE ENGINE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS NO ENGINE AVAILABLE ANYWHERE FOR THIS VEHICLE PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN ISSUE. THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY WILL HAVE TO ORDER IT PIECE BY PIECE IF THE WARRANTY WILL COVER IT. I PERSONALLY THINK THERE SHOULD BE AN INSPECTION ON THESE ENGINES AND A RECALL DONE BECAUSE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS AT THE MARKET. I HAVE READ OVER 30 DIFFERENT COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ENGINE JUST DYING AND SEIZING WHILE DRIVING THE CAR.

WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, OUR OIL LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC HE SAID THE ISSUE WAS ACTUALLY THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC TOWED IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. WITHOUT ANY PRIOR INDICATION OF ERROR, OR ANY SENSOR READING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AND THE RPMS INCREASED. I SLOWED DOWN A BIT, AND CONTINUED DRIVING. THE ENGINE THIS SEIZED COMPLETELY AND DIED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL FOR HELP, BUT THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, IN THE "ECO" MODE. I TURNED LEFT, AND THE VEHICLE PAUSED FORWARD MOTION, UNTIL I PUMPED THE GAS PEDAL 2 OR 3 TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEH. IN 2016, WITH 16,000 + OR - MILES ON THE ODO. WHEN I TURN OFF THE "ECO" MODE, THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS, THOUGH NOT AS OFTEN. I LEFT THE CAR AT VANDERGRIFF HYUNDAI FOR A DAY WITH N.P.F.

2015 TUCSON ENGINE BLEW AFTER ONLY 70,000 MILES. IT DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF FAILURE BUT AS I WAS DRIVING THE ENGINE MADE A BANG NOISE AND JUST STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER I DID SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TUCSON TO HAVE ENGINE FAILURE AFTER 70,000 MILES.

I WAS TAKING LEFT INTO MY DRIVE, IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS REVVING, BUT I HAD ABSOLUTE NO POWER. LUCKILY I GOT ENOUGH POWER EVENTUALLY TO GET INTO THE DRIVEWAY WITHOUT GETTING HIT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN REPEATEDLY IN THIS CAR. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEAL ONCE AND THEY SAID THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE BUT IT HAS STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS. I NEVER KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M GOING TO GET WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS. THE DUAL ACTION CLUTCH IS AWFUL AND I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT IT EVEN HAVING THIS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. OTHERWISE, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT IT.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR NOVEMBER 8 2014 WITH 99 MILES ON IT. WE'VE HAD SEVERE ISSUES WITH IT IN THE LAST YEAR. WE'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY'VE BEEN IN COMMUNICATION WITH HYUNDAI IN ORDER TO FIX IT. THERE WAS NO SOLUTIONS, JUST "TRY THIS & SEE IF IT WORKS." IN JULY 2016 I STARTED HAVING MEDICAL ISSUES, WE'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE NOT WANTING TO START. AT FIRST IT WASN'T WANTING TO START & THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, THEY CLAIMED THAT WAS THE ISSUE. SO THAT RECALL WAS PREFORMED AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. LOW AND BEHOLD THE ISSUE WAS NOT CORRECTED, THE CAR STILL HAD EPISODES WHERE IT WOULD NOT START. THE ISSUE WAS NOT SOMETHING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD RE-CREATE. SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED THE INHIBITOR SWITCH, AND THAT ALSO HAS NOT WORKED. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN BUT THE CODE IS COMING BACK AS THE PURGE VALVE. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS NO POWER AND FEELS AS IF THE MOTOR COULD DIE AT ANY SECOND. I TRAVEL AWAY ABOUT TWICE A MONTH FOR VARIOUS SPECIALIST DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS. MY VEHICLE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED THERE SEVERAL TIMES. I NO LONGER FEEL MY VEHICLE IS SAFE OR DEPENDABLE FOR MYSELF OR ANY OF MY 3 CHILDREN TO BE TRANSPORTED IN IT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI COMPANY DIRECTLY BUT NO RESPONSE FROM THEM AS OF YET. FOR A 2015 MODEL VEHICLE THIS MAY ISSUES IS RIDICULOUS!! MY HUSBAND AND I ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLE!
