I am writing regarding a serious incident involving negligent automotive service performed by Jiffy Lube Store #687. On October 24, 2025, I took my 2017 Hyundai Tucson to this location for a standard oil change. I trusted that the service would be completed properly and safely. However, on November 21, my vehicle’s oil lamp unexpectedly illuminated. Concerned, I returned to Jiffy Lube on November 22, where employees informed me that they had “sealed the small leak and topped [my] oil,” adding that I was entitled to two top-offs between oil changes and “should be good for two weeks.” Tragically, the very next day, November 23, the oil lamp flashed again. My vehicle then shut off while I was driving, with my children in the back seat. This was a frightening and dangerous situation for all of us. I am now left confused, stressed, and unsure of the full extent of the damage.

Sensors something to do with the motor and not sure where the other sensors is related to could be the motor as well. The safety was not good due to it shut off in the middle of traffic and making wraddling noise. I took the vehicle to the dealership where purchase from. They have done nothing besides fixed one thing that I know of supposed to been the surpension. But the other problems was not fixed No it has not been inspected by anyone The warning lamp come on and just blinking none stop

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has completely broken down will not go into reverse had a diagnostics at Hyundai. I thought it was going to be covered because of the class action suit. My car apparently was not in the recall or the suit. I don’t understand I have the identical problem of the dual clutch transmission issue. I’ve tried to get Hyundai to do good-faith repair they refused. I’ve contacted Carmax where I purchased the vehicle. They had the car when the lawsuit was finalized I didn’t know anything about the lawsuit or the problem with the vehicle. I’ve had the car for five years it’s at 85,000 miles. I don’t know what to do.

The controls (buttons) on the right side of my steering wheel progressed from slow to respond to completely unresponsive, and then the driver airbag light started coming on. At first it was intermittent, then constant. I didn't expect those two issues to be related but did come to learn it was the clock switch. According to my Hyundai dealer, this is a known issue in several other years/models of Hyundais and they have extended those warranties, "but it hasn't reached the Tucson yet". I was told that either 1 - my airbag wouldn't deploy or 2 - it would deploy randomly when I was driving the vehicle. I spent nearly $1000 in diagnostics and repairs.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal clacking sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent certified mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, where the catalytic converter repair was performed. The contact stated that after the repair, the contact noticed that the instrument panel would turn black and the infotainment system would become inoperable intermittently; however, both systems would reboot independently. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the air compressor was replaced due to heating system failure. The contact stated that the instrument panel failure recurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the message "Engine Overheating" was displayed. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with engine misfire. The mechanic determined that the head gasket failure had caused oil to contaminate the coolant reservoir. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

1. After driving the car and turning it off, I get a loud bang coming from a gas tank. 2. Sometimes when making a hard right or left turn steering wheel vibrates, and the warning light for all wheel drive system comes on. When I turn the car off and restart it, it goes away. 3. After software installs due to recalls, when I accelerate my radio occasionally shuts off on its own, and then we’ll come back on on its own. 4. After turning the car off when I restart it occasionally the clock in calendar revert to 00:00 for the time and the date resets to 1/1/20.

All of the lights on the dashboard and check engines light were illuminated. The speedometer would not work and the stick shift would stick in park causing me to have to release the shift lock manually to drive. The failure mileage was 59,450.

Rear driver side door suddenly will not open from outside or inside. A rear passenger would be essentially trapped in the car should an incident/accident happen. I googled and it seems this is a well known issue affecting several model years of Hyundai, including my 2017 model. I do not see a recall for this extremely dangerous issue.

I am writing to report a serious issue with our 2017 Hyundai Tucson. As the first and only owners of this vehicle, we have diligently maintained it through authorized dealerships. However, in May 2023, while driving on the highway, the car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate beyond 30 mph. There were no warning lights or indications prior to this incident. My wife managed to pull the car to the side of the road and slowly drove it to the dealership. Despite having only 30,000 miles on the odometer from personal use, we were shocked to learn that the engine had suffered significant damage due to low engine oil. Notably, we had recently serviced the vehicle at the same dealership just a few months earlier. The dealership informed us that the engine needed replacement, but the process took nearly a year. During this time, we were left without our vehicle, causing considerable inconvenience and financial hardship due to renting replacement vechile . We find it concerning that an engine failure occurred despite our regular maintenance and adherence to authorized service centers. We kindly request an investigation into this matter and hope that steps can be taken to prevent similar incidents for other Hyundai Tucson owners. Additionally, we urge Hyundai to address this issue promptly and transparently.

The vacuum pump on my 2017 hyundai has a faulty cap resulting in an electrical error to the CAN system. This causes dash lights abs 4wd parking break stability control tpms sensor check engine light to eliminate and the speedometer to not work. All of the systems are not opperating due to the system not being able to communicate. It is illegal and a safety issue to not be able to use the speedometer.

Vehicle caught fire damaging wiring harness. engine has hesitation, AC system was damaged by fire. recall shows electrical system/engine and brakes in recall. Hyandai refused to replace citing missed oil changes. oil was changed regularly but not always at the dealer. These particular problems are exactly what the recall was for, problem is design and manufacturing the oil change issue has no effect. I want these fixed as soon as soon as possible

On July 22nd, the duel clutch malfunctioned & caused the vehicle gear shift to no longer engage. The car does not move in Drive or Reverse. It can only be pushed in Neutral or towed. This occurred while I was driving home on the highway with no warning lights or prior symptoms indicating a potential issue. The vehicle has not yet been seen by Hyundai but they did say that since my VIN was not registered to the existing recall, there is not much they can do & any repairs would be out of pocket. It has been seen by our family mechanic, PepBoys & has currently been sitting at AAMCO with no solution as of today since August 2nd. Geico said since this is a mechanical issue & not an accident, they cannot assist. Carmax Customer Relations (where I purchased the Vehicle on March 12th, 2023) has been informed but so far offered no solutions. I am told they cannot offer much assistance due to the 90-day warranty being surpassed, extended warranty not being purchased & the current milage on the car. A case with Hyundai Customer Relations has also been opened as of today, August 15th & they are escalating the issue to their legal department as we are considering taking legal action at this point.

The 2017 hyundai tucson will trap you inside the car. The doors will work intermittently and other times they simply will not open. Even when the car is unlocked. This was recalled on certain models and years but not this one. Huge safety concern being trapped inside the car or stuck outside car.

Problem with the engine

Jun 7, 2023

Car has been hesitating to start this last week, Friday 6/2/23 warning lights came on & air conditioning stopped working. My local Hyundai shop is booked 2 weeks out so I already have an appt for 6/13/23. But on 6/2 I barely made it to a shop close to my home for a diagnostic check. Code P1111 was stored, cleared & retested. It's for fuel pump, circuit was tested & no faults were found & test driven with no return of code. Picked up car on Monday 6/5 with no issues. Tuesday car hesitated to start, 3rd time it started with no issue & no warning light/s. Today 6/7 around noon while I was making a turn the car completely shut off without warning. I've also noted that the oil level is always low, I have to check & put in oil at least every 2 weeks but there doesn't seem to be an oil leak. Also from stop to go at a light for example the car hesitates and then jerks forward. In the past I was told at a Hyundai facility that this is normal because of the dual clutch or something to that fact. The incident today was scary as there were a lot of cars behind me and cars coming towards me. The attached pic of warning lights was from Friday, 6/2/23.

Feb 22, 2023

Powertrain: Vehicle losses power especially going up inclines or hills. This happened before and I spent over 4500 dollars on repair of a catalytic convertor that failed. This was Late may of 2022. Now the car is back at a Hyundai dealership because the Catalytic Convertor has failed again it is Feb 2023. The car has extreme oil consumption which is one of the causes of catalytic convertor failures. The car in November of 2022 had a loss of power again but this time coils failed. Had all three coils and spark plugs replaced. The certified mechanic shop gave me the spark plugs and it was if they had a black felt on the tip of them. The mechanic said this was a sign of high oil consumption. High oil consumption is also a cause of coils and spark plugs failing prematurely. I have records to show how much oil I have bought and it is about 3 quarts every 1-2 months depending on how much I drive. This is extremely high and a sign of a faulty engine. It puts me in danger of being rear ended in traffic or on an open highway because it losses power. I use my car for work and sometimes that work takes me to small country towns. My work sometimes mean I get back when it is dark or get up when to get to work when it is dark. A car failure on a dark country road is unsafe. Yes a Hyundai dealearship in Decatur and Lubbock TX as well as a certified mechanic in Keller Texas can attest to no warning lights or codes and the car has high oil consumption. Inspected by two different hyundai dealarship service repair locations NO warning lights, no check engine lights, nothing to give notice of a problem about to occur. I have tried to deal with Hyundai but they refuse to accept that the issues are due to a bad manufactured engine. However all the signs point to that is the problem. Lastly the check brake light comes on but mechanics can never find a problem. So they replace the bulb but it just keeps happening. It will come on , stay on for a day , then go off. Just periodic

Is there anything being done to Hyundai for all of the vehicles being stolen

Feb 3, 2023

I have had my 2017 1.8L eco Hyundai Tucscon for 3 years now and recently it's been giving me signs of problems that are great concerns for safety, as well-known for this models; it only 62091 miles as of the day of this complaint. On Jan 15. 2023, I noticed that each time I start the car, it takes a little bit longer, then you hear a rattle sound and shaking of the engine block, then it start. Or the engine would suddenly slip, followed by a brief rattle sound while driving. I took it in for service to Manly Hyundai in Santa Rosa on Jan 27, 2023, but the mechanics there told me that they could not find where the problems are coming from, and that I would need to wait for an engine light to come on, as any diagnostic at this point maybe unnecessary and costly. Had I known that the 2017 Tucson had so many issues and recalls, or engine defects, specially the slipping or shaking on acceleration from idle, I would never put my money on a commuter like that. I AM STILL WORRIED FOR THE EUGINE NOT TO BLOW UP AS PER PREVIOUS INCIDENTS WITH THIS MODEL. Common issues: The18.0-liter eco 4-cylinder engines, which may have defective rod bearings. The bearings may wear prematurely. This can cause the engine to stall during operation. In extreme cases, a damaged connecting rod can puncture the engine block and cause the engine to leak oil onto hot components, leading to a fire. Please do something.

While driving, all of the warning lights on the dash came on and the car shut off. After pulling over, the car started again. The car was bought on 10/18/22 and the first incident was 11/7/22. It was taken back to the dealership, the lights were turned off and a few days later it happened again. This happened a total of 4 times. The last time only 3 lights came on. As of this complaint, the car has been in the shop since 12/22/22. There were no warnings before the lights came on. The Hyundai mechanic said that those lights mean there are major issues and it could be a safety hazard. The car was not bought at a Huyndai dealership.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shuddering with several unknown warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the speedometer, turn signals, and temperature gauge failed to operate while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electrical system failure. The dealer replaced the vacuum pump. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 19-01-010H (Tucson Vacuum Pump Sealant Application/Cap Replacement) however, the vehicle was not covered by the TSB. The failure mileage was 78,388. The consumer stated all warning lights illuminated and outside thermostat stopped working for about 20 minutes into the drive. Also, problems with shifting gears and gear shifter was stuck in park.

Nov 26, 2022 Crash

My vehicle was broken into on Nov. 17, 2022 and thieves attempted to take the vehicle after smashing the back passenger window and gaining access. The vehicle alarmed once they either attempted to either open the drivers side door or start the vehicle. Police were called and completed a report on scene. On Nov. 23, a thief returned and gained access to the vehicle by shattering the glass on the back driver side of the vehicle before getting inside and driving off in the vehicle. I reported the vehicle stolen to police and the vehicle was recovered later that evening. On Nov. 25 I went to the tow yard where the car was taken to retrieve my belongings and observe and record the damage. The entire steering column was stripped down and damaged which is how the thief was able to start it. There are highly circulated videos on social media platforms showing criminals or would be criminals how to do this. It is now also known that they are targeting specifically Kias and Hyundais due to Hyundai manufacturing cars between 2016-2020 without immobilizers. My make and model being one of them and therefore making me a target. Not only that but the cars are being taken and used for joy rides, as mine was, or used in crimes. My car sustained additional damage as it was crashed into another vehicle during the thieves joyride before they ultimately jumped out of the car and abandoned it in an intersection. I was targeted, my livelihood put in jeopardy and if the car is fixable I will still be in harm's way once the repairs are completed. Hyundai needs to be held accountable as there is no way I would have purchased this vehicle knowing that the car was missing a major safety and anti-theft component. Further, why were they allowed to manufacture and sell these cars without such an important component??

Nov 19, 2022

The components that are malfunctioning are the gas nozzle entrance, and the dual clutch transmission. It’s available for inspection, and is being inspected currently at a dealership. My safety’s been put at risk to combustion when filling gas, resulting in risks of fire and/or explosion. The dual clutch affects my, and others, safety with major hesitation, jerking, and risk of stalling at any given time. The problem with sparking at the gas nozzle entrance has been reproduced and recorded by the dealership server al times. The dual clutch was diagnosed as faulty and replaced twice, both within a two and a half year span (from which I was told it will continually happened and need to be replaced down the road). The issues have been inspected by dealership, KenGraff Hyundai Surprise, Arizona 85388. There were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, and/or symptoms of the problems.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on multiple occasions, upon acceleration from a stop, there was a 3-second delayed before the vehicle responded and sputtered and lunged forward. The contact stated that on several occasions while idling or coming to a stop, the vehicle hesitated. Additionally, the contact stated while in reverse, the audible alert system failed to operate. As a result of the failure, the vehicle almost struck a pedestrian. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

I was driving park the car and it wouldn't turn back on . I open the door and the car turn back on . The radio everything reset. Now again couples of days later I was putting gas on the car went finish the car wouldn't start like if no electricity wiered . Everything again reset I am terrified that is a electrical problem. Is to danger. It should be a recalled for this. I think this problem that I am having with my Hyundai Tucson 2017 has electrical problem. And I ain't the only one .

After the engine was replaced we are still having electrical and engine issues and dealers in Atlanta area will not accept engine repairs. The car will not start consistently and most dangerous if we use our bights (lights) for just a second even, the car will shut down and restart when the bights are released. This was in stop and go traffic on the highway The radio will stop and do a reset while driving for no reason this has happened on multiple occasions but the bright on day reported below

Subsequently following an engine replacement due to recall, there is now an electrical issue which has caused something to burn or possibly start fire as there is a burning smell from the hood and heat coming from under the hood into the car's cabin from the dashboard area and the drivers seat bottom is very hot. The heat increases rapidly inside the car from the engine, whenever it is on and running or on and idle. This is obvious how my life was at risk as every time i put the key in ignition, my life was at risk of fire or explosion or worse while driving. Car also sputters or stays idle when trying to quickly accelerate and this happens at random. The following list is more (minor) electrical malfunctions that have gradually become noticeable as I was using the vehicle: Cigarette light/phone charger power outlet does not stay connected and works sporadically; Dashboard alerts are random and inaccurate; Seems tires fall below normal psi daily and need to be filled with air more frequently tires were new before recall repairs. Oil changes more frequent also. Light bulbs burned out. Problems ongoing and i am unable to drive vehicle due to risk of death.

The 2017 Hyundai Tuscan dual clutch transmission is seizing and unable accurate above 40 -45 mph. It is also unable to engage into reverse. It will shift into reverse, however will not move even when one places their foot on the gas pedal. The Hyundai Tucson seized while driving and I was almost hit in traffic. The dealerships in the Austin area have not been helpful as the closest they state they could look at it is November or December 2022 for a diagnostic and they are not willing to honor the powertrain warranty. After doing some research it seems a commen issue among Tuscan owners and is very similar to the issue Hyundai had with recall # 149 as related to the 2016 model. The vehicle is hazardous and unsafe to drive. The vehicle is putting the safety of myself and others at risk. There was no warning what so ever until later in the day when the check engine light came on. It is available for inspection.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 21V727000 (Engine), 20V543000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), and 16V842000 (Electrical System, Trailer Hitches). The contact stated that after the recall repairs were performed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled while driving 60 MPH. Additionally, the vehicle would fail to exceed 60 MPH before vehicle would lose motive power and stall. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove at speeds under 60 MPH. There were no warning lights illuminated during the failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

The driver side passenger door will not open with pulling on the door handle multiple times, about 10+ tries with a lot of force to get the door open. This is not a lubrication issue, I have lubricated the locking mechanism and is hasn't helped at all. Imagine if the car rolled over and was on fire and this door wont open, its terrifying to think. There are no warning lights, the only way I found out that this was a widespread issue was on a car forum. I imagine that this is happening to many others, but they are not reporting it. Just to be clear, this isn't a door lock actuator issue, the locks are unlocking and locking just fine, there is a fatal flaw with the latching mechanism.

Jun 20, 2022

I took in my 2017 Hyundai Tuscon after the engine had stalled while driving. While in the shop, the engine was replaced which was part of a recall (Campaign 209) and also recalls 195 and 966 was addressed. After the repairs and driving home from the dealership, the engine and air conditioning started making weird noises and the following warning lights went on: ABS, power steering, and electronic stability control. When this happened, steering became difficult. We brought the car in the shop, but they denied there was any problem. Within two days after brining the car back to the dealership, the same problem occurred. And now the car will not even turn on.

May 12, 2022

I purchased my 2017 Tucson in 2020. It was the first car I’ve ever owned. I do not know much about cars but I noticed that there was some hesitation in acceleration and the engine was loud. Sometimes I would hear soft knocking on colder days but nothing extreme. I was told that the acceleration hesitation and the loud engine are due to the turbo. Then on 4/27/2022, without any warning, my engine stalled while I was at a traffic light. More importantly, I had ZERO warning lamps or messages. No engine warning or oil light was illuminated. My engine suddenly stalled. I don't drive my car very far. Use is relatively light. On average I drive about 10-20 miles per day. No one was hurt but what if this had happened on the highway? I would have definitely been rear-ended and hurt. My car passed inspection on 09/10/21. But earlier this year, on 22nd February 2022, I took it to the dealer for the engine recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000). They assessed it and said it passed the tests but I have no way of knowing because the dealer would not share the full report. Additionally, the dealer did not address that the vehicle warning lamps and messages were not working when they noticed my oil was low. Hyundai has a long history of engine issues and recalls with regards to high oil consumption and connecting rod bearings inside the engine may wear prematurely. There are hundreds of complaints that match my description. Their engines have had issues since 2020 and these complaints date back to 2020 around the time I bought this vehicle. Even though there were no recalls at the time, the dealer should have disclosed these issues. I think it's negligence by Hyundai and the dealer for investigating why my warning lamps did not illuminate and did not properly communicate the seriousness of these issues.

May 12, 2022

An update on my previous complaint is attached. My vehicle has now been with the Hyundai dealership for two weeks with no resolution. They've provided little to no communication about the issues, or progress. Additionally, they have not provided me with a loaner vehicle, so I am without a mode of transportation for two weeks.

May 9, 2022

Myself, like others I have seen report the issue. The door (for me driver side front) will not open from the outside latch after door is unlocked. Can only open door from inside latch.

There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was unable to turn the key in the ignition or move the vehicle. The contact called AAA for roadside assistance who arrived and performed an unknown reset and the vehicle was restarted. The received an unknown recall regarding the failure. The local dealer was contacted but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.

I own a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While trying to get my elderly Grandmother out of the backseat to her appointment the rear drivers side door failed and would not open. After multiple attempts trying to open from outside and inside my ninety year old Grandmother had to maneuver herself to get out of the other door. This is a safety issue and Hyundai needs to address it. I have spoke with multiple Hyundai owners whom have experienced the same problem. What if there was an emergency/fire and no access to an available door??? I’m unsure if my service warranty will cover it, I’m scheduled to have it replaced but of course Hyundai is out weeks for appointments. With growing concern and thousands with the same problem this needs to be addressed immediately!

THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR MY VEHICLE TO FIX / REPLACE PARTS AS A GLITCH WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE FIRE (HYUNDAI RECALL 195). I WAS TOLD WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 5 MONTHS BEFORE THEY COULD FIX IT.

DRIVER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN ON THE OUTSIDE, HAS TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. 3. SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE CABINET. HAVE BEEN TURNED AWAY FROM DEALER SERVICES DUE TO WARRANTY COVERAGE. I BELIEVE VEHICLE IS A LEMON

TRAVELING WITH WIFE AND INFANT WESTBOUND 210 FREEWAY IN PASADENA, CA. AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WIFE AND I HEARD A CONTINUOUS, MUFFLED CLICKING SOUND FOR 20-30 SECONDS. I FELT A SLIGHT LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, AT WHICH POINT, I BEGAN MAKING MY WAY FROM THE HOV LANE TO EXIT. WHILE MOVING OVER, I SAW A PUFF OF LIGHT GRAY SMOKE FROM THE REAR FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY SIMILAR SMOKE AND THEN SOME FLAMES FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TO NO ENGINE POWER AT THIS TIME AS I CAME TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER, PLACED IT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. AS WE STOPPED, THE FLAMES BECAME MUCH GREATER. WE WERE ALL ABLE TO QUICKLY EXIT AND GET TO A SAFE DISTANCE. AS AN ASIDE, WE HAD ONLY DAYS BEFORE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS VEHICLE FROM HYUNDAI TO ADDRESS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE SPONTANEOUS, NON-COLLISION ENGINE FIRES. I HAD NOT HAD OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE IT IN YET.

I PURCHASED 2017 TUCSON BRAND NEW AT ROUGHLY 22K MY ENGINE SEIZED AND THE 3RD CONNECTING ROD FAILED. AFTER ENGINE REPLACEMENT I CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH REAR DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY GOING OUT, BULB IS NOT OUT BUT WIRING SCORCHED AND BULB SOMEHOW CONTINUOUSLY BECOMES LOOSE. I HAVE REPLACED FRONT HEADLIGHTS REPEATEDLY WITH THE DRIVER FRONT SHATTERING IN HOUSING. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED CALIPERS AND HAVE GONE THROUGH 7 SETS OF ROTORS. AT ROUGHLY 60000 I NOTICED I WAS RUNNING OUT OF OIL IN BETWEEN EVERY 3000 MILE OIL CHANGE. CONTINUED TO BRING BACK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR S . I HAVE COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT HESITATION WHEN PULLING OUT FROM STOP AND ENGINE KNOCKING. MULTIPLE OIL PAN RESEAL GASKETS REPLACED FUEL PUMP REPLACED, OIL ALWAYS ALL OVER ENGINE. AT 110K MY ENGINE FAILED A SECOND TIME WITH HYUNDAI DENYING ALL CLAIMS. ORIGINALLY SAID THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR RENTAL BUT WHEN THEY EMAILED ME LETTER FOR 'GOODWILL ' REIMBURSEMENT IT WAS A RELEASE FROM LIABILITY WAIVER IF I TOOK THEIR 'GOODWILL ' . I HAVE INFORMED THEM OF ELECTRIC ISSUES AND HOW I FEEL UNSAFE WITH NEW RECALL AND FIRE POSSIBILITY AND THEY INFORMED ME AS LONG AS NO WARNING LIGHT IS ON IT SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. I TRIED TO TRADE VEHICLE IN AND NO ONE WOULD TAKE MY TRADE, IT'S 3 YEARS OLD AND WORTH NOTHING. HYUNDAI RESPONSE WAS VEHICLES DON'T HOLD THEIR VALUE LIKE THEY USED TO. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THEIR DISMISSIVE CUSTOMER CARE, 2 ENGINES IN A VEHICLE 3 YEARS OLD AND THEY INSIST THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEIR PRODUCT.

NHTSA #20V543000 RECALL NUMBER 195 STILL HAS NO REMEDY FOR THIS YEAR MODEL. THE DEALER I JUST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM HAS 13/14 CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WITH OPEN RECALLS OF THIS NATURE. I PURCHASED AND THEN WAS TOLD I COULD NOT TAKE IT UNTIL THE RECALL WAS FIXED. UNDERSTANDABLE AND APPRECIATED. THE NEXT DAY NOBODY WOULD ANSWER MY TEXTS OR MESSAGES. UPON RESEARCHING I SEE WHY. OBVIOUSLY I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE MY CHILD AROUND IN A 'NEW' VEHICLE THAT MIGHT CATCH FIRE. WHY DO YOU ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUE TO SELL THEM? WHY ISN'T THERE A REMEDY AFTER 2.5 YEARS?!?

I DID SEE A LAWSUIT FOR THE 2016 MODELS AND THINK 2017 MODELS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUE. OUR SEAT RECLINING ELECTRICAL BUTTON IS ALSO FAILING THE SEAT TO RECLINE PROPERLY.

AT APPROXIMATELY 6:10 PM ON WEDNESDAY 8/7/19, I WAS ON AN OUTLYING ROAD TURNING ON A ROUNDABOUT, I HAD SLOWED TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH TO ENTER THE ROUNDABOUT AND WAS ACCELERATING TO EXIT IT, WHEN MY 2017 HYUNDAI TUSCON SPONTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT WARNING SHUT OFF. THE CAR SLOWED AND THE SCREENS WENT BLACK. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE IT STOPPED COMPLETELY AND TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TRIED THE CAR, IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME (8 MINUTE TRIP, ALONG OUTLYING ROADS) I AM UNSURE WHICH COMPONENT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO SPONTANEOUSLY SHUT OFF.

N JUNE 24, 2019 I DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE WAS CYBER CONTROL HACKED.. MYSTERIOUS RADIO CODE, INTERFERENCE WITH SIRIUS RADIO SIGNAL, CHANNELS KEPT CHANGING, CANNOT CONTROL VOLUME, DISCOVERED AN ALIEN IPHONE CONNECTED TO BLUE TOOTH, MALICIOUS LINK APPEARED ON 6/11/19 WHEN RADIO WAS TAKEN DOWN TO MANUFACTURING SETTINGS. SPORADIC CONSTANT ISSUES, AC FAN JUST STOPS, CAR DOES NOT TURN OFF, AND CAR HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP. I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE CONSOLE AREA OF THE SIRIUS RADIO. . THAT IS WHEN I DISCOVERED AN ILLEGAL ANDROID PHONE CONNECTION, AN IMEI NUMBER, ROGUE FIRMWARE AND WIFI, A GOOGLE POWERED REPORTS TO..., A MAP THAT DOES NOT TURN OFF, 2 MAPS PROGRAMMED ON STEERING WHEEL CONSOLE. 10-15 CONSOLE ICONS WERE DISABLED, I THEN DISCOVERED WHEN GOING TO HYUNDAI ON LINE I HAD AN ACCOUNT EITHER SET UP BY HYUNDAI OR THE HACKERS IN MY NAME I COULD NOT ACCESS. IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP ASSISTANCE FOR ME TO GET IN. I DISCOVERED AN OUT DATED PHONE NUMBER AND 2 ID THEFT WARNINGS FROM 4/19 I NEVER RECEIVED, THE BLUE LINK I HAVE ELECTED BUT NEVER DOWNLOADED THE APP FOR REMOTE CONTROL WAS ENABLED AND HAD A HISTORY OF MANY VOICE COMMANDS. I TRIED TO FILE A POLICE REPORT AT OAKLAND COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT, MICHIGAN. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FORENSICS CAPABILITY TO DIAGNOSE AND REFUSED THE REPORT. ON 6/ 25/19 I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEASED MY VEHICLE FROM, ELDER HYUNDAI OF MACOMB, MICHIGAN. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS DISMISSIVE AND STARTED TURNING OFF ICONS, COMPROMISING EVIDENCE, HE TOLD ME THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER MANY OBJECTIONS BY ME. THE CAR HAS SAT IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE 6/26/19 AS I AM DEATHLY AFRAID OF USING IT CAUSE INJURY AND DEATH TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. I DID FILE AN ONLINE REPORT WITH HYUNDAI USA ON 6/26/19. THEY HAVE ONLY REQUESTED THE IMEI NUMBER TO TRACE THE CELL PHONE NUMBER. HYUNDAI AND HACKER ARE LIABLE FOR MY SAFETY. *JS

WHEN TRYING TO TURN OFF THE TUCSON (VEHICLE HAS PUSH BUTTON START) TO REFILL THE GAS TANK, THE ENGINE DIDN'T TURN OFF. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS ON, IT RESTARTED AGAIN THE ENGINE, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WITH RPM'S AROUND 500 RPM. SOME SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE RPM STABILIZED (NORMAL IDLE). I PRESSED THE PUSH BUTTON AGAIN AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF SUCCESSFULLY. WENT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. NO CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE CAR.

SINCE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE'S BACKUP CAMERA HAS EXPERIENCED BLACKING OUT AFTER THE INITIALIZATION BLACKOUT WITH REGULAR FREQUENCY. WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE THE SCREEN INITIALLY SHOWS A BLACK SCREEN UNTIL THE CAMERA INTIALIZES. THEN THE PICTURE OF BEHIND THE VEHICLE SHOWS, FOLLOWED BY THE BACKUP GUIDE LINES. WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION IN REVERESE THE CAMERA WILL AGAIN PERIODICALLY TURN BLACK OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. THE VEHCILE HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REPAIR BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTEMNT FREQUENTLY SAYS THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. AFTER GETTING HYUNDAI NORTH AMERICA INVOLVED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOOK IT IN AGAIN. THIS TIME WE WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE REAR CAMERA WAS REPLACED BUT THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE CONCERN. UPON RETURN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INCLUDING AN OPEN TICKET WITH HYUNDAI'S TECHNICAL SERVICE LINE, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THOUGHT THEY HAD REPLICATED THE ISSUE BUT ONLY SAW THE INITIALIZATION BLACK OUT AT WHICH POINT THEY CLAIMED THIS IS AS "WORKS AS DESIGNED". THIS WAS NOT THE ISSUE, THE ISSUE IS ONCE THE SYSTEM HAS LOADED AND THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION IT BLACKS OUT CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN BACKING OUT ONTO STREETS AND IN BUSY PARKING LOTS.

THE BRIGHT LIGHT / TURN SIGNAL ARM HAS AN OFF..AUTO..ON ROTATING END THAT CONTROLS THE HEADLIGHTS/DASH/BRIGHT-DIM CONTROL. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON BRIGHT YOU HAVE TO PULL THE SWITCH ARM TO DIM THE LIGHTS. THE TROUBLE IS THE ROTATING END MOVES FROM AUTO TO OFF, SHUTTING ALL THE LIGHT DASH ETC OFF. SINCE YOU ARE DRIVING AT 55 TO 75 MPH AND ALL THE LIGHTS GO OFF LEAVING YOU MOVING HIGH SPEED IN THE DARK HYUNDAI IS ENDANGERING MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THE PASSENGERS INTENTIONALL BECAUSE OF THE POOR INCOMPETANT DESIGN. THEY SHOULD RE DESIGN THE SWITCH ARM AND REMOVE THE LIGHT SWITCH FROM THE END OF THE TURN SIGNAL ARM. I HAVE TO TAKE NITRO GLYCERINE BECAUSE I'M SCARED TO DEATH. OTHER DRIVERS HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. ALL TUSCONS SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. THE DEALER DOESN'T CARE. HYUNDAI SHOULD BE FINED AND JAILED FOR DANGEROUS ENGINEERING. IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES!

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO FIRST GEAR AND ACCELERATE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN WOULD TRY TO MOVE UP TO A HIGHER GEAR AND GET SUSPENDED FOR ABOUT 5-7 SECONDS AS IF IT COULD NOT FIND THE NEXT GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2-3 TIMES SO FAR. ALSO, WHEN I HAVE TESTED THE RESPONSE OF ACCELERATING BY PRESSING THE GAS WHILE TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AS EXPECTED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE ENGINE ONLY RESPONDED AS IF I WAS SLIGHTLY ACCELERATING. I HAVE A 1.6 TURBO. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HAD THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD GO OUT - EXCEPT FOR MY RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM. I SUSPECT THIS HAD TO DO WITH A SENSOR AS IT WAS DUSK AND MY LIGHTS TRIPPED SOME ELECTRICAL OR SOFTWARE DEFECT. I WAS GOING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY AROUND WASHINGTON D.C. AT THE TIME AND COULD NOT SEE ANY OF THE DRIVING CONTROLS FOR APPROX 20 SECONDS. I AM NOT SURE IF MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT THAT TIME BUT EVENTUALLY, AFTER FLIPPING MY LIGHTS OFF AND ON AND PRESSING THE DASH LIGHT TO MAXIMUM, THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD RETURNED. LAST WEEK, THE AUDIO OF MY RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER LEAVING MY CAR AND LOCKING IT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND RETURNING, THE SOUND WAS WORKING AGAIN. I TOOK A VIDEO OF THIS. THE TEMPERATURE IN MY VEHICLE WAS NOT REGULATING PROPERLY WHILE STATIONARY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS A BAD SENSOR AND REPLACED IT. IT HAS WORKED GREAT SINCE THEN. HOWEVER, I AM STILL HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION FROM A RED LIGHT OR TURNING INTO A ROAD, OR ACCELERATING FROM A VERY SLOW SPEED. MY VEHICLE IS NOW IN A SECOND DEALERSHIP TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE THAT STILL LINGERS. THIS IS CAUSING ME TO FEEL VERY INSECURE ABOUT DRIVING MY VEHICLE. I AM SECOND OWNER. FIRST OWNER HAD ONLY PUT 2500 MILES ON IT AND TRADED IT IN. PROBABLY A BAD SIGN.

I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE SHOP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE FIRST TIME AT 150 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND CONTINUING FOR OVER A YEAR, EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT NO PROBLEM EXISTS OR EXISTED, NEITHER HYUNDAI NOR THE DEALERSHIP WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS AN INHERENT SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS 7 SPEED TRANSMISSION, THIS VEHICLE DECELERATES, HESITATES FROM A STOP AND DOES NOT ALWAYS HANDLE IN A SAFE MANNER. I AM EXTREMELY CAREFUL AND COGNIZANT OF THESE ISSUES WHEN I AM DRIVING ALWAYS TAKING EXTRA PRECAUTIONS HOWEVER, IN THIS INSTANCE THAT SLIGHT HESITATION IN ACCELERATION WAS ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE , SUBSTANTIAL MONETARY LOSS AND INJURY.

MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I ONLY HAD IT LESS THAN A MONTH (NEW). I TRIED TO REMOTE START IT & IT WOULDNT WORK. I WENT OUTSIDE TO START IT & IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER, ALL LIGHTS ON DASH WERE LIT UP. I LIFTED MY HOOD- A SQUIRREL NEST WAS BUILT UNDER HOOD. WIRING HARNESS CHEWED UP, INSULATION UNDER MY HOOD RIPPED OFF, NUMEROUS AREAS OF HARD PLASTIC COVERING MY HEADLIGHT UNDER HOOD AND ALONG INSIDE FRAME OF CAR ALL CHEWED UP. ALL THINGS CHEWED WERE MADE OF SOY BASED MATERIALS.I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, NOT HYUNDAI DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS (3X) W/MY HONDA 2014 CRV THAT'S WHY I GOT RID OF IT. I WAS TOLD BY BOTH HONDA & HYUNDAI "ITS NOT COVERED, IT'S NOT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, IT'S CAUSED BY OUTSIDE CIRCUMSTANCES/ RODENTS. USE YOUR AUTO INSURANCE". THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT BECAUSE THEY USE SOY WHICH ATTRACTS THESE RODENTS. SOY WIRING HARNESSES SHOULD BE BANNED AND RECALLS INSTITUTED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BY EITHER REPLACING THE HARNESSES WITH STANDARD SYNTHETIC NON-EDIBLE POLYMERS AS APPROPRIATE TO THE SPECIFIC APPLICATION, OR PROVIDING COATINGS THAT PROVABLY PREVENT RODENTS FROM CONSUMING THE INSULATION OVER THE LIFESPAN OF THE VEHICLE. I CAN'T EVEN PARK IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY FOR FEAR OF MORE DAMAGE THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR DUE TO THE USE OF SOY. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET CAUSED BY SOY USED BY VARIOUS CAR MAKERS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ASAP.
