The engine is burning excessive oil. Down 3 quarts over approx. 3,000 miles. Mechanic verified there are no leaks - it is burning the oil.
My 2018 Hyundai Tucson has been experiencing oil consumption issues for over a year. It began at around 80k miles, when it should have been covered by warranty but they made me pay out of pocket for an oil consumption test only to ultimately recommend a top end cleaning, which I also paid for and it did not solve the problem. This is a known issue with Hyundai, and they have settled many lawsuits but have consistently denied any repair or solution for me. I am burning about 5 quarts of oil every week, and this is a problem they refuse to help solve.
Oil consumption, will change oil and within weeks i will be down 23 Quarts of oil
The engine on this vehicle burns oil quickly which is a known defect. I took the vehicle to the dealership and both times I was told everything was working fine. On 12/5/2025 the vehicle just lost power while driving. After getting the vehicle towed to a mechanic they said I needed a new engine.
My 2018 Hyundai Tucson experienced complete engine failure at around 118,000 miles. The motor suddenly blew without warning. This vehicle uses an engine type known for widespread engine defects, including bearing wear and internal failure. I bought the vehicle used in 2023, maintained it regularly, and there were no warning lights or overheating before the failure. I had to put oil in my vehicle every week. I had to use 5qts of oil. It smelled like fumes coming through the vents. It then stalled on the highway while we had our son in the vehicle and shaked profusely. Mind you we had our son in the vehicle. How unsafe is that. I then did my research and found out Hyundai engines of this generation have a history of stalling, seizing, and internal damage. I am filing this complaint because this appears to be part of a known safety defect that can cause sudden loss of power while driving. We took it to shop and confirmed the motor blew. It was faulty. Also, sometimes the electrical components would turn off in vehicle such as radio and would go black. Also the turn signal would be on and then turn off. It would also shake while driving. This needs to be taken care of ASAP as it almost caused danger to my family and also caused financial strain on my family too as I now had to roll over my vehicle loan into a new safe vehicle. I would like to be contacted in regards to this. Thank you.
My car on the expressway wouldn't go over 40 and this was happening intermittently so my car was unsafe. No check engine light but it was just at the dealership for an oil change. Has. been an ongoing problem since I bought the car! Smells, gets hot!
Excessive oil consumption (failed 3 tests) now adding two quarts a week.... Transmission shifting issues (already had a replacement at 65,000 miles. Hesitation with acceleration. AWD and can barely make it up my driveway. Rpms rev when trying to go slow. Already needed a moonroof replaced because the motor died. USB randomly disconnects and reconnects for GPS.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle almost stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and was flashing off and on. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, and the vehicle remained running. The contact waited for a while and then shifted to drive(D) and was unable to accelerate above 30 MPH. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to a Parts Store and was scanned, and DTC: P1326 was retrieved. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was no longer driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

Shortly after purchase, I had an oil change and vehicle inspection performed. I was informed that my engine may have an internal defect causing it to burn oil excessively. I later took the vehicle to a AAA-approved Hyundai service center, where they confirmed that the engine is burning oil due to a known manufacturer issue and that it is not the result of owner misuse or neglect. I have been quoted approximately $11,000 for a replacement engine, which is an extreme and unexpected cost for a recently purchased vehicle in otherwise good condition.
I purchased this car [XXX] as a CPO vehicle from a Ford dealership. By [XXX] the oil pressure light would flicker and it was clear the car was burning a lot of oil between changes. On 8/22 an oil change was completed at dealer. On [XXX] the oil pressure light flickered and it was three quarts down. An oil consumption test was started at 112,000. On Sat [XXX] while driving to dealer for oil check, the car began shuddering violently and the check engine light came on, and went into limp mode. I was on a dangerous mountain pass at the time and it could have been a major issue. The day before a tractor trailer had almost run me off the road, if my car had stalled then I might not be here. Hyundais have a known issue with oil burning and engine damage. Right now I am stuck in a 14K loan with a car that is unsafe to drive. I am not sure what the dealer plans to do, or what the diagnosis is, but its clear these engines are not safe. My 2018 Hyundai Tucson SEL PLUS limited showed a flashing check engine light on 10/14/2025 and basically gave up acerating pass 60mph while I was driving , I pulled over and called the dealership where I bought it from they told me to drive it in, I did and they did an oil change and filled up, we then began the oil consumption test which I brought it back yesterday 10/24/2025 and was told the whole engine needed to be replaced due to a major oil consumption problem, they advised me to bring it the Hyundai dealership to get it fixed they rudely told me no we can't fix this, we would have to wait for it to flash the check engine light again and it would have to fail a bearings test before it can be fixed and still have a possibly of it not fixing. only confirmed by the lot I bought it from since Hyundai refused to look at it.
The contact's sister owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his sister was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly jerked and jolted, prompting her to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway to turn off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with all four fuel injectors and the injector assembly. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who then diagnosed a failure with the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,563.

My 2018 Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Turbo (VIN [XXX] , 113,000 miles) burns oil excessively and was deemed to need full engine and turbo replacement ($15,382.95). Hyundai refuses responsibility (case #XXX). This is a widespread defect that causes potential loss of power while driving. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2018 Hyundai Tucson has excessive oil consumption. Burns multiple quarts of oil per 1000 miles. Hyundai refuses to remedy the oil consumption. Oil consumption has also led to having to replace the catalytic converter due to oil burn off.
I am filing a complaint under the NC Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-1.1) regarding Hyundai’s handling of my 2018 Hyundai Tucson (purchased new May 2018). Since 2019, the vehicle has had repeated headlight failures (at least 12 bulb replacements), persistent “bulb out” warnings, and eventually melted wiring requiring headlamp assembly replacement in 2025. These issues were first reported in April 2023 under warranty but dismissed as “could not duplicate.” Hyundai later attempted to deny coverage, only replacing the assembly after escalation to Corporate. At the April 2023 visit, I also reported a rear noise that Hyundai dismissed. After warranty expiration, it was attributed to a leaking shock. Shocks were covered under warranty; failure to act while coverage was active left me unprotected. In May 2023, the engine failed due to oil loss and lock-up. Hyundai retained my vehicle from 5/15–6/30/23 for engine replacement. From Aug–Sep 2025, the car was held an additional 24 days, with no permanent fix for the electrical defect. Overall, my Tucson has been out of service for 60+ days between 2023–2025. Examples of unfair/deceptive conduct: Dismissing documented defects under warranty, only acknowledging later after expiration. Attempting to shift labor costs onto me in Jan 2025 despite warranty obligations. Returning my vehicle with only ~39 miles of gas after requiring me to return a loaner full. Repeated misdiagnoses and delays despite video and documentation provided. These actions are deceptive and unfair, leaving me with an unsafe, unreliable vehicle and causing financial loss and hardship to my work as a self-employed pet sitter and dog groomer. I request the Attorney General investigate Hyundai’s conduct and enforce consumer protections under UDTPA. Service records, receipts, and communications are available upon request.
Van Hyundai Dealership in Carrollton, TX has confirmed excessive oil consumption causing catalytic converter failure that results in the engine stalling and unable to accelerate. We’ve already replaced the catalytic converter once in 2024 because it was full of oil and causing engine failure. Less than a year later (less than 10,500 miles) the same problem was reproduced. The dealership refuses to replace our engine due to the engine defect. This problem directly impacts the engines ability to perform, unable to accelerate on the interstate, and engine stalling which directly impacts our safety and puts our family into a life threatening situation when the engine fails on the highway. The engine has a defect that Hyundai refuses to address. There are no warnings or engine lights that appear beforehand which is extremely concerning and a liability. Hyundai motor company is corrupt. The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that there were metal shavings found on the camshaft sensor. The contact was advised that the camshaft sensor, oil flow solenoid, and variable tee valve were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred 3 months later. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed, with the check engine and oil light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,942.

Over the past nine months, I’ve been experiencing ongoing issues with my 2018 Hyundai Tucson engine and transmission. After four consumption tests and a flush confirming that the engine is burning between 0.8 and 0.3 liters of oil for every 1,000, I was informed Hyundai refuses to either repair the issue or conduct testing to determine the cause. The timeline is summarized below: •February 2025 – I was told by [XXX] my vehicle simply did not have enough oil after the last oil change; •March 2025 – I was informed an initial consumption test needed to be completed; •May 2025 – a second consumption test revealed the engine was burning more than 1 liter per 1000 and a flush was completed; •July 2025 – a third consumption test was completed, revealing that while the engine was excessively burning oil, it was not currently at 1 liter per 1000 based on that test; August 2025 – the oil light came on & I was instructed to put a liter of oil into my vehicle to make it to the certified dealer for next steps. The next steps were another consumption test. Unfortunately, because I was told to add oil to make it to the dealership, I was then informed that this added oil would alter the testing, and we had to start over. •September 2025 – I am now awaiting the results of the fourth consumption test. I have receipts for every 6 months or 7,500 of service since purchasing the vehicle., Despite the engine and transmission being under warranty, the dealership has refused to conduct testing to determine the cause of the issue or remedy the excessive consumption. I took my car in for a daily oil change and inspection, where I learned that there was no oil is in my car after coming in 5k miles before as I have been religious about oil changes. I came in on Saturday September 20th for an inspection and was topped off with 3 quarts of oil but am now back in the shop Monday September 22nd to test the oil. The oil that was checked came out Black.
My engine stopped and locked up. It happened while I was driving on the highway/interstate. Yes it has been diagnosed by the dealership. There was no warning lights prior to the system failure.
I own a 2018 Hyundai Tucson with 87,000 miles that consumes about four quarts of oil per 1,000 miles. I first noticed the problem at 51,000 miles, despite regular maintenance. The issue has worsened, repeatedly damaging spark plugs and causing the car to seize. Hyundai has denied my request for a replacement engine because I am the second owner. I bought the vehicle at 26,000 miles, believing it carried the 100,000-mile warranty. I was never informed that coverage drops to 60,000 miles for second owners. I have maintained the vehicle with oil changes every 3,000 miles, yet it remains unsafe to drive long distances. This defect presents a serious safety risk, and Hyundai has not provided a resolution.
My connecting rod came apart and went through the oil pan while I was on the highway. There were no engine or oil lights until the engine was already smoking and no longer accelerating luckily I was in the far right lane already and was able.to coast to safety. Hyundai is also refusing to honor my warranty. It requires a completely new engine. So this was a catastrophic engine failure with no warning.
There is a very well known issue with Hyundai (and Kia) and oil consumption issues, no recalls have been issued yet and I am another person dealing with this without any real support from Hyundai to solve the issue. In 2024 I did an oil consumption test, they found it was burning oil excessively and I had to pay $700 out of pocket for a cleaning they recommended. Afterwards it was burning only 1 quart every 1k miles which they said is acceptable so we moved on. Less than a year later I am still dealing with this issue only it has gotten worse, I am burning 5-6 quarts every 1k miles. I do keep up with my oil changes, I now have to check it and top it off almost daily, and even without being a car expert I know that something HAS to be done... why aren't there any recalls yet? Despite keeping up with my maintenance, there are other issues that can be related from this issue, including the engine stalling or skipping which is a safety issue when driving.
I have regular oil changes (every 3k mi) and every time I go get say there’s no or low oil. At the beginning of July my engine coil in column 3 failed and I had all four coils and spark plugs replaced. Since the replacement my engine is still consuming a quart of oil per week
I am submitting this formal safety complaint regarding my 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle has 101,900 miles and has been well maintained. Recently, it began experiencing severe performance issues, including difficulty accelerating and consuming oil at an abnormal rate. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed catalytic converter with an estimated repair cost of over $8,000. While Hyundai has an active recall on the engine for this model year, they have stated that my specific problem is not covered, despite the fact that the catalytic converter failure appears to be directly related to the engine defect. The oil consumption and acceleration issues raise serious safety concerns, as the vehicle can lose power unexpectedly while driving. I am a teacher, a parent, and have one child with special needs. I have no other form of transportation and am still making payments on a car I cannot safely drive. Hyundai’s refusal to address this issue as part of the known recall leaves me with an unsafe and inoperable vehicle through no fault of my own. I believe this matter warrants further investigation by the NHTSA, as it suggests that related component failures stemming from the defective engine are not being adequately addressed, leaving owners at financial and safety risk. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate whether Hyundai is failing to address a known defect’s full scope and to take appropriate action to ensure the safety and fair treatment of affected consumers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

29 days after I bought a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle started making a ticking noise and stopped accelerating. I called the dealership and they said we didn't get a warranty. I said no that isn't correct, no warranty was offered and after seeing ALL the known engine problems I understand why ken ganley in medina wouldn't offer one. Now not even a month into having this vehicle, I have a brand new 5 year loan and a vehicle that won't move until I put a new engine in it and the dealership won't do anything for me. This is the worst experience I have ever had purchasing a vehicle
It's an engine failure. The car died in the middle of the rode at a traffic light with busy traffic flowing. It was confirmed by a independent service center. No one other an the independent service center has inspected it. There were no warning lamps or messages before failure.
Since I purchased the car in 2018 I took great care of it, keeping the services going on time. But recently in October 2024 even tough I did services the oil service’s sign keep on showing up. I then schedule an appointment with a dealer ship near my area in January and they told me that they were no oil in the car. But I show them the date ans mileage on my stickers I specified that is the reason I am here and to double check for me for filtration because something is wrong, they told me that the car was fine. Days after I had to go in my regular service place for another service and on May I drove the car from Massachusetts to New York and in the middle of the way car start shaking, making noise and when I drove it to a shop they diagnose a failed engine. I left the car in Goshen NY in a Hyundai dealer ship and they told me a valve un the engine was burned and that where the problem came from . They said , they fixed it. A friend pick up the car and 30 mnt driving it police came to rescinde her in the highway, they then told me that’s it’s was a failed engine and days after ask for services record, I provide the last 6 times , they asked me from 0 until today. The shop were I take care of the car don’t keep record from so long. Talking about 2018. They said they won’t fixed it without those record . The car is still under warranty with 71321 miles and I have it for 7 years.
My 2018 Hyundai Tucson 2.0L GDI engine with only 79,000 miles was "knocking" and wouldn't accelerate. We pulled over and towed the vehicle to the local Hyundai Dealer who declared "oil level good but failed bearing clearance test". Diagnosed with a rod and bearing failure. They submitted to Hyundai Motor Warranty the vehicle needed new engine. They declined. I know this is covered under the Hyundai Engine 2 Class action lawsuit with the extended 15 year/150,000 mile warranty as a result of the catastrophic engine failures. I have all oil change service records for every 5,000-6,000 miles while I was the second owner, as well as, have obtained another from the dealer who bought it from a rental/lease company starting at 14,000 miles. Hyundai Corporate is claiming "exceptional maintenance neglect" because of one missing oil change record from the rental company that I may not be able to obtain as the paper trail for the rental car company only states first owner was rental/fleet
Won’t shift so that I can gain speed
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH and depressing accelerator pedal, the vehicle started to decelerate. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact waited for two minutes and attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinders #1 and #2. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V543000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 177,000.

Component: Engine Vehicle: 2018 Hyundai Tucson VIN: [XXX] Approx. Mileage at Failure: 79,413 miles Incident Date: [XXX] Where It Happened: While driving [XXX] At 79,413 miles, my 2018 Hyundai Tucson (VIN: [XXX}) suffered complete engine failure without warning. The vehicle had been properly maintained (records from Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers), and was operating under normal conditions. The dealership diagnosed total engine failure and quoted $7,723.88 for replacement. They are not replacing the engine with the same type, which may indicate a known issue. There are no active recalls, but similar engines in Hyundai vehicles from this era have been subject to recalls and warranty extensions. I believe this may be due to a manufacturing defect. No injuries occurred, but the failure posed a safety risk while in traffic. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On April 12, 2025, my 2018 Hyundai Tuson which only has 99,000 miles started stalling out at random speeds. The vehicle stalled going up a hill and would not accelerate it would also not go past 55-60 miles per hour on the highway. There were no check engine lights or codes on the dashboard. The vehicle is also burning oil on 2 occasions when having the oil changed. I feel like my life and others is in danger because the vehicle is stalling at random speeds which could cause a major accident due to this issue. I could be hit by another vehicle while trying to accelerate or merge on the highway. I reported the oil consumption last November and I contacted Hyundai customer care who issued a case number in May 2025 for the stalling issue, they instructed me to take it to the Hyundai dealership to be diagnosed. There is a recall out, but they said my vehicle is not included in it. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they confirmed the vehicle was stalling and would not accelerate and were able to reproduce the issue. They informed me the vehicle needed a new transmission, and the vehicle only has 99,000 miles. Hyundai and the dealership declined to add the vehicle to the recall campaign for stalling vehicles. I had to cover the cost of $3,000 for a new transmission. I picked the vehicle up on June 6,2025 with the new transmission installed and it is still stalling and won't accelerate past 45 miles per hour.
I noticed my vehicle was burning through oil, initially indicated by a P011 code, when I called Hyundai they said its often a symptom related to low oil pressure. After oil changes, the code would clear, but it returned multiple times, and on two occasions, the dipstick showed no oil when checked. Despite staying current on oil changes and maintenance, I was dismissed as excessive oil burning being “common” for this engine. After recent recall updates at the dealership, a technician confirmed excessive carbon buildup and that my catalytic converter was beginning to plug. I inquired about an extended warranty offered due to the knock sensor installation but was told it only covers rod bearing failure. Hyundai Corporate echoed this, stating no coverage until catastrophic engine failure occurs, despite the ongoing damage from oil burning and converter clogging. Since my visit to the Hyundai dealership, the symptoms have rapidly escalated. Now, my vehicle is extremely loud and acceleration is poor. It takes a long time to get up to speed, and I worry about driving it as it may result in an accident.
While starting and accelerating my 2018 Hyundai Tucson, I began hearing abnormal engine knocking and noticed rough performance. I took the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership, where they diagnosed an internal engine defect. They confirmed the engine issue but refused to cover the repair, citing that I’m not the original owner—despite public information stating that Hyundai’s extended engine defect warranty (related to known bearing failures) applies to all owners for up to 15 years/150,000 miles. This creates a major safety concern, as I drive long distances on highways daily and fear the engine may seize or fail at high speeds. The vehicle remains at the dealership and is currently undrivable. I’ve submitted proper maintenance records, and the issue has been escalated through Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. This appears to be a widely reported engine defect that Hyundai is not consistently addressing. The lack of coverage and delay in resolution places drivers at unnecessary risk.
I was driving my car and the engine started knocking and when I stopped the car kept stalling and losing power especially going up a hill. I had oil in the car. I bought the car to a repair shop and the mechanic advised me to go to Hyundai because they’re having problems with the engines in the Tucsons. I found out they extended the warranty from 100k to 150k so I’m covered I thought. They started diagnosing my car and they said the engine needs to be replaced. They contacted Hyundai corporate to dis cuss this. Corporate said they’re no t responsible for this because there was sludge in the engine. The car has 103k miles on it. The diagnosis charge I owe so far is about 400.00 Hyundai corporate wants further diagnosing of the engine. The dealership said Hyundai corporate said I have to pay the additional diagnostic charges of approximately 900.00 before they’ll determine the outcome of my claim. I don’t think it’s fair at all. I believe they should be paying for information they’re requesting. I’m having a hard time with Hyundai corporate with this runaround they’re giving me. I do t l ow what else to do? I can’t afford to pay for an engine replacement that they should be responsible for this problem. I hope I’ve proved enough information. Thank you sincerely.
The oil sensor doesn't illuminate the light on the dash when the oil level becomes low. The only warning is when it becomes really low and then the check engine light will appear. It's a safety concern due to the engine possible failure and or damage may occur at that point if continuing driving happens. This causing the engine to stall and loss of control of the vehicle. Which could lead to a vehicle crash resulting in injury or death to the occupants and or others nearby.
1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Engine is failing/malfunctioning. Yes it is available upon request 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? No oil can cause an engine to overheat and/or catch fire. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue was confirmed by Hyundai of Medford. Oil consumption test was completed. Preauth was submitted for a new engine and was denied. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, inspected by manufacturer (Hyundai of Medford). No leaks or other issues that could cause this were found. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, no warning lamps or messages were shown or sent. Even when low on oil. Consuming oil extremely quickly. Oil change was completed and I was only able to drive 700 miles before I was low on oil. I have history of oil changes and top offs every 1000 miles for about a year. It has only gotten progressively worse. Hyundai of Medford Confirmed the issue and confirmed there were no oil leaks or other issues that could cause this. They recommended I request a new engine for Hyundai. I submitted the Pre-Authorization and it was denied. After more research I have found that thousands of people have had the same exact issue with the same year, make and model of my care. There is even an entire Facebook group dedicated to this issue. The manufacture needs to be held accountable for these faulty engines. Thousands of cars should not need a new engine before they reach 100k miles. I am writing hoping to shine some light on this issue that is effecting thousands of Hyundai owners.
1.The engine is consuming oil excessively. 2 and 3. I was informed during a service visit that this is a common problem. I asked how to get it fixed and was advised to lock the engine up. I informed the service advisor that I would not lock the engine up and told him I have a [XXX] son. I told him I'm trying to do everything I can to prevent that very scenario. 4. Yes, I will provide records. Additionally, a class action lawsuit was filed in California under their Lemon Law. Do a quick google search. Everyone I have spoken to at the dealership has confirmed they are all well aware, however they can only do what corporate allows under the Warranty. I am the first and only owner supposedly covered until 100k miles. This problem began at 79k. I'm at 86k and still struggling to get anything moved forward. 5. Unknown 6. My oil light flickered briefly but never stayed on. I immediately checked to discover not a drop on the dipstick. I will provide photo. My oil has been below the low mark several times since this photo and has never come back on. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil with the oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer to be inspected and two oil consumption tests were performed by the dealer. The oil consumption tests showed no defects with the engine. The dealer performed an engine flush; however, the failure persisted. The contact was advised to have oil changes performed every 3,000 miles instead of the recommended 5,000 miles. The contact stated that recently, after having an oil change, the dealer recommended a transmission fluid flush. The contact stated that after the transmission fluid flush was performed, the vehicle jerked and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the contact was provided an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle was abnormally low on oil even though it had been less than 3,000 miles since the previous oil change was performed. The dealer instructed the contact to drive the vehicle for 1,000 miles and then return as part of an oil consumption test. The contact stated that after the oil consumption test was completed, the contact was informed that the engine was consuming an abnormal amount of engine oil; however, the dealer had not provided the cause for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 35,000.

In late September of ‘24 my husband was driving our oldest to school when my 2018 Hyundai tuscon seized mid drive with our son in the back seat with no oil or engine light warning. Husband inspected the oil and I was still full. A Hyundai dealer towed at their expense in October, diagnosed an engine failure. Denied me service since my extended warranty expired and I didn’t have the KSDS update. I wish they would as I still owe on the vehicle and I’m out of work. Making this complaint is to only spread awareness that 2017 Tucson with the 2.0 L engine had an engine failure connecting to rod bearings. My 2018 has the same engine type and failure as the 2017. Hyundai Corp fails to recognize the problem. My 2018 didn’t fail due to lack of oil changes as I can I prove that. My 2018 failed on Hyundai’s fault. Now my car sits at the dealership in Anchorage, Alaska and I still owe 9k and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. 360 miles away from me.
74,000 miles Excessive oil consumption, 1 quart per 1000 miles. Low oil pressure warning. Oil warning light, repeated and various codes. Noticeable ticking/clatter at startup. Not included in current recalls.
Loosing oil constantly and now there is a loud noise with the engine/motor
Engine had oil consumption problem. We bought it as second owners around 89k miles. Now at 98k miles and engine has blown. It’s not going to be fixed without a replacement. We are getting the run around by Hyundai in ballwin asking us to pay 500 upfront and all kinds of pushback. We have to tow and they will look at it even though it is still under 100kmile powertrain warranty. We got 3 months use out of a vehicle we just paid 15k for. Total loss
I own a Hyundai Tucson 2018 model and recently it started making the noise. i got it check with the private auto shop and they said it the engine issue so i took it to dealership as it was under the 100,000 power train warranty. The dealership ask me about the invoice of regular oil change invoice which i provided to them but they simply denied it. the dealership is located on route 1 south Brunswick new jersey.
Me my wife and our dogs were driving from California to Las Vegas when we experience loss of power in the engine we managed to Coast downhill to State Line Nevada and got to the off ramp and then had to push the car to the nearest gas station it was towed the next day to Centennial Hyundai in Las Vegas, case # [XXX] this happened while on vacation just before Christmas they were not able to look at it till after Christmas but they found that one of the valves had broken and was sitting on top of the piston we were told that the engine the turbo the exhaust and the catalytic would all have to be replaced also later they discovered a leak in the transmission on the Dual clutch which also needed replacing we were just told that they have finished the work and we would be responsible for about $5,300 worth of the work I have all maintenance records on this vehicle it had all scheduled maintenance done at the dealership including oil changes and any other repairs that or needed including engine cleaning once the car reached about 100,000 MI it started consuming about a quart of oil every oil change I'm [XXX] old and have had many new and used cars and have never ever had an engine failure happen at such a low mileage when this occurred the car had approximately 122,000 miles on it I have a claim with Hyundai customer care, case # [XXX] and they have not been very cooperative they don't seem to be able to contact the dealership to get any kind of resolution for the costs that I don't feel are my responsibility this is unbelievable I will never recommend anybody by a Hyundai or a Kia I will tell them buy a Honda or a Toyota not a Hyundai or a Kia they have horrible engines and Transmissions it should not be failing at less than 100,000 miles or before the car is even paid off unbelievable don't know how we're going to cover the cost the dealership wants to get our car back I guess they'll just have to keep it for a while. Had oil consumption problems for a while started around 60,000mi. I got regular and frequent oil changes and the engine seized up at 94,000mi while driving. Hyundai refused to take accountability.
On Saturday, November 23rd, while driving down the highway the check engine light came on and the car would not accelerate past 40 mph. When accelerating from a stop, the car's acceleration is greatly diminished. The car was checked out be a local Hyundai dealership. After running a diagnostic, the mechanic reported the following: the car has a knock sensor code, valve stem seals are leaking a little bit, compression test showed low compression on all four cylinders (between 130 and 140) normally it is 185. This indicates wear in the rings and losing compression that way. Dealership says only option is to replace the engine. Currently have 95k miles on the car. I believe we are the second owners of this car.
I have had several incidents of my car running out of oil before the recommended oil change date or mileage. The low oil light never comes on. On the last occurrence of my oil being too low the check engine light did come on and the engine began to make a knocking or ticking-like sound. I have already had to have the catalytic converter replaced on this vehicle and it is around 90,000 miles.
A few months back my car started to loose its ability to accelerate on the highway. I stopped to get my oil changed to see if that would help but the acceleration was still very limited. Now a month ago, my car started pouring smoke out of the exhaust. It was brought to a mechanic who said it was a turbo and or engine issue. I took it to a Hyundai near me for a clear diagnoses and they diagnosed it as needing a new turbo. I got a new turbo put into the car. My car worked for 1 day before pouring oil out of the bottom of it. I then had a new turbo put in. My car worked well for 1 week but now is leaking oil from the exhaust and making loud knocking, go kart noises. Most people I have talked to say it's the engine and that these problems are way too common in Hyundais well before 100k miles. My car has also been peeling white paint from the hood of my car for 2 years. I have passed hundreds of white hyundai's with the same paint problem.
We were consuming about a quart of oil every week and a half. I drive over 60 miles a day. We added oil until we could check it out. First dealership said that no visible exterior leaks so they told us to take to Hyundai. Once at Hyundai we were told compression was down and we needed a new engine, Catalytic converter, and turbo. Our extended warranty only approved a short block. Said we have sludge and we have to cover the rest of the parts that have sludge but we proved our oil changes and used synthetic oil. They will not give us proof of anything. Hyundai is known for this and won’t cover anything. Hyuandai Beaverton and Ethos is being horrible.
my mechanic and I noticed that motor oil engine is running out too fast that is normal. I take my suv to do oil change every 5,000 miles, I can't even wait the 5,000 miles because the oil level is low, he double check for any dripping of oil. my mechanic told me that it is not safe drive the car in low level of oil because it can cause a fire in the engine. I went to the hyundai dealer to explian them the problem and they told me there is nothing they can do to fix the issue because my manufacture guarantee is over, I don't feel safe to dive my car in that condition so thats why I'm here making this request to hopefully you guys can help me. the most important thing is the safe of my family.
On 10/5, after exiting the highway, check engine light began blinking. A loud cranking noise was present and the car began “puttering.” I immediately pulled over to find a parking spot. As I parked, the car seemed to stop running and the oil light turned on. I called a tow truck but since this occurred on the weekend, the dealer wasn’t open. Local mechanic stated it was the engine. I had it towed to Hyundai and it’s awaiting diagnosis.
My vehicle is burning engine oil within a short period of time. I was told my several mechanics that a part was recalled on my vehicle to fix this issue.
car would not speed up no matter how hard i pressed accelerator, vehicle wouldn't speed up kept going at slower speed had to have towed to dealership. Don't know what is wrong. I was scared someone would hit me, or my speed would cause an accident. Only after issue started did engine light come on.
My oil is being consumed for no apparent reason. I checked it one time and there was no oil in there. I keep checking it and adding oil. There is a recall for the issue but my vehicle is not on the recall list. I was not in a accident but the issue could cause bigger problems.
Back in March 2024 I had a tow beam stock replaced to the car. Couple of months after this check engine light started coming on until it stayed on. Took SUV to mechanic shop in July 2024, and they informed of a r&r knock senor needing to be replace. A couple days after this had to go back as check engine light was back on. they informed of needing to replace a wire harness. It wasn't a week after this that when starting the car you hear a very loud knocking sound. Like something is rattling around inside. After this no longer able to drive car as not sure what will happen next.
In May 2024 my Hyundai Tucson died in a middle of an intersection with no warning. Worse than that is Hyundai motor USA informed me that the car was on a recall list for an engine failure issue that was apart of class action suit . Ans further told me that that were obligated to have the highway transportation safety dept notified first consider cause of the issue. They told an inspector from your department was required to inspect vehicle before repairs could be started and or returned fo me. That has not happened and they are using your office as the reason for delay on my vehicle. They have systematically m supplied the same answer to my case with no resolution. I have done everything I can as a consumer to handle my case and believed that they were going through the correct process but the dealer has informed me their own manufacturer and corporate is not following guidelines and handling recalls. This is soo dangerous as this vehicle was Already on a list for recall repair and they did NOT inform me the customer when it was brought in for repairs before this incident.

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle was not accelerating beyond 40 MPH. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that an engine knock sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined that the knock sensor needed to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact had not taken the vehicle back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

The vehicle has been burning oil at over 3 quarts every 800-1000 miles. Hyundai has denied all claims to do anything about it after testing and seeing that it is burning the oil. This is a safety issue as it can clog the Catalytic converter and/or lose power while driving. The vehicle has 90,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the contact became aware of a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,824.

I was traveling on the freeway at Highway speed, heard a loud knocking sound coming from the engine that got progressively worse. No warning lights, began to loose power as I exited the freeway. Had vehicle towed to dealership, they were able to replicate knocking noise coming from bottom end of engine. Diagnosed as catastrophic engine failure and needs engine replacement, outside of standard warranty. Engine is a 1.6L GDI and model was not included in recall for KSDS sensor. Safety was compromised due to engine failure at high speed with no warning or previous engine problem. Vehicle is available for inspection as of current date
The engine consumes a quart of oil every 1,000 - 1,500 miles with no signs of leakage or burning.
Car had been burning oil very quickly. I took it for an oil change, before it was due, and they said it was very low. They changed it, and I was leaving to visit my parents in Florida the next day. I checked the oil when getting there, and it was good, and I also checked it prior to heading back home, and it was still good. I was in a really bad/unsafe area at 10pm, on my way home from visiting my parents, and my car began to stall. Engine light came on. It would stall really bad when going slow, and almost died a couple times at lights when stopped, but we made it home. We got it to a mechanic, and they stated it was the engine, and it needed to be taken to the dealership. I have read that Hyundai/Kia are notorious for engine issues. My car was towed to the dealership, and they supposedly requested to see if Hyundai would cover for a replacement engine. My car is unfortunately 10,000 over the warranty mileage (100,000), but 110,000 is still not enough to be already having engine problems. Supposedly, according to the dealership, Hyundai declined, and the quote for a new engine is $7,693, which I cannot afford, especially on top of my car payment, which I still owe a good chunk on.
I am dealing with engine failure after an out of pocket turbo repair cost
My engine failed while driving on a highway. The engine began ticking, and then completely failed. The tow truck driver reported oil leakage. I towed it to a mechanic and he said it was completely blown and irreparable. He reported this as a recurring problem with hyundai and kia cars that "eat up oil" and then damage the engine. The oil light has not been on, I've gotten regular oil changes and was within the distance of my most recent oil change. But apparently it was leaking, failed to inform me and now I have to purchase a new car or pay for a new engine. I looked up recalls, there are none. I looked up class action settlements and my car was mysteriously not on the list based on the VIN, despite being listed within the model and year range.
End of April/beginning of may, driving down highway check engine light flashing loud knocking and loss of power. Got it towed by AAA. Wasnt able to make appt until May 9th. Got it towed to the Hyundai dealership. Got phone call that is filed the bearing test and need a total engine replacement. Was told by the dealership that it could take 3 months or more to get an engine in and get it replaced. They have no loaners, and hyundai expeacts me to pay out of pocket for a rental for work to keep my job as well as my independent contracting job accounting/taxes. I have to have a vehicle. A rental is easily 1200+ a month. Hyundai refuses to give me a trade in value for my vehicle until the new engine is in. Hyundai also refunded to reimbursement me for a rental until all work is completed and a work order is in hand ( which can be many many months) I dont have money to pay 1200+ a month for a rental and also pay by car payment every month for a vehicle that is stuck at the dealership undrivable because Hyundai installed faulty bad engines. I am stuck and all Hyundai can tell me is that it takes months for the engines. Purchased the vehicle in Feb 2022 and have perfect maintance records, service records and everything else for upkeep. Still owe 15545 on the vehicle and its undrivable. So im paying a car payment on a vehicle that Hyundai made undrivable
KSDS engine software update was performed by Hyundai dealer on January 22, 2024. On or about February 11, 2024, the vehicle began stalling, intermittently, and would not restart for several minutes. On March 4, 2024, the vehicle stalled and, upon restarting, after nearly a 30 minute wait, it would not exceed 35 mph. The vehicle registered, nor recorded, any diagnostic codes at any time, during these events. The vehicle was taken to Edwards Hyundai service center for diagnosis and repair. No diagnostic codes were recorded in the vehicle history. Upon inspection, Edwards changed a loose timing chain and exhaust camshaft. The vehicle was picked up on 3/13/2024 and presented with the same issue on 3/14/2024, with the engine stalling and failing to restart for several minutes. When the vehicle did restart, it would not exceed 35 mph. It was then returned to Edwards Hyundai on 3/15/2024, where it duplicated the issue for Service Writers, failed to restart, and had to be pushed out of the service garage. The vehicle has since, without further diagnosis or repair, started and ran for technicians, who have since supposedly driven, approximately, 200 miles, in an effort to determine the issue. Edwards Hyundai then demanded the return of a loaner vehicle, in an effort to force us to retake possession of the vehicle, having failed to properly diagnose or repair the issue. A complaint has been filed with Hyundai corporate, which resulted only in them also trying to convince us to accept return of the vehicle in said state of disrepair. It has since become very clear, as evidenced by numerous reports of Hyundai vehicles experiencing the same effects and mechanical issues, after receiving the KSDS software update, that Hyundai, both at the corporate and service level, have been dishonest, as to being unaware of the cause of the issue and what must be done to resolve it. Given that the potential end result of the customer retaking possession of the vehicle in its

My vehicle had been in the shop for 30 day due to engine shutdown in the middle of the road, I barely was able to get vehicle off the road and avoid oncoming traffic. I got my vehicle back and driven it a total of 40 minutes within a 3 day time period. During my drive to work my vehicle shut off in the middle of the highway and would not turn on again. My concerns are not being taken seriously with Hyundai and it is a disaster waiting to happen. I have a one year old daughter and I can not risk her safety as well as the other on-coming people on the road when it quits and oncoming traffic has to swerve to not T-bone me. Hyundai will not take any action to correct this other than giving it a temporary fix of a 45 minute drive before they allow me to get back on the road and put myself and others at risk of injury.
My knock sensor came on and Hyundai is saying issue is not part of recall or covered under warranty and I have had all scheduled oil changes
Timing Chain/ Engine failure. Alert/Dashboard failure. The car ran out of oil from the leaking oil pan. Car failed to notified the driver of low oil. Engine failure due to low oil while driving on interstate. Causing to low all power in the middle of the road. Vehicle was inspected by a mechanic and Tow company. Both said it was the timing chain and that the engine was not good anymore. No warning lamps or messages or any other symptoms prior to the incident.
The car experienced a red, blinking check engine light. We had the car towed to the local Hyundai dealership. Please see attached document for the work that was done. This was in November 2023, and we just now had to have the car towed to the dealership again (April 2024).
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 115,000. The VIN was not available.

The engine became inoperable, warning lights and sounds, came up while driving the engine experienced some hesitation and turned off.
Spun bearing in motor at only 32000 miles poor oiling. Same as other years and models of Hyundai. 2.0L engine
There is a known issue with this particular engine burning oil. I’ve had to replace three catalytic converters, among other parts in the exhaust. I am 3000 miles away from an oil change and my engine is flashing lights and stalling while running. Something needs to be done as it can cause the engine to fully fail
The engine in my 2018 Hyundai Tucson is burning oil at an excessive rate. I have to change my oil every 2000 miles or less due to engine knocking if I don't. Due to the excessive oil consumption, I now have to replace all 4 engine coils for over $1500. There have been multiple codes given to me every time I take the car in, including 3 times for the knock sensor which was replaced under a nationwide recall. Hyundai settled a class action case with some consumers, under the radar, for excessive oil consumption and is leaving every other consumer unaware unless they start digging for information. One of the times my engine light came on, I was on a very busy California highway and my car went into limp mode. This is unacceptable and a major safety hazard. My car is currently at the dealership for the third time and not drivable until I spend $1500 to repair a problem that their faulty engine has caused.

My wife was picking up our daughter from school. The car shutdown as my wife was getting into the left hand turn lane to go onto our main street. The warning dash lights turned on, but she could not turn on the car. She called me and I left work early to help her out. She called me a few minutes later telling me she was able to get the car started but that it sounded as though "rocks were in the engine." When I got home, I opened the hood and checked the dip stick and noticed metal flecks and shavings on the end. I tested the dipstick 3 more times and each time I inspected it noticed the flecks and shavings. I then called a tow truck to have the car transported to Hyundai. The sudden engine failure led me down a rabbit hole online and realized this is a widespread issue with a lot of Hyundai vehicles. Luckily, the dealership is replacing the engine since it is still under warranty. I plan on getting rid of the vehicle as soon as possible. The quality of their engines is awful. Despite taking the car for regular maintenance it still failed. It's also telling that the dealership I'm at has several other Hyundai's they're servicing FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE! I was also informed it can take up to a month for the engine to be replaced. Stay away from Hyundai and Kia. There's a reason why they have the types of warranty's for their vehicles. They know they're unreliable and faulty.
It started [XXX] when i took my car to the dealership due to it going into limp mode. The dealership took it in and said it was throwing error code p1326 which is the knock sensor code. they replaced the knock sensor, drove my tucson home after the replacement, by the time i got home it went into limp mode again, took my car back to the dealership turns out it was a faulty sensor they received. So the dealership replaced the sensor again, did not have an issue with it until decemember 2023, so i took it to get the error code read again and it was the p1326, so i make an appointment with the dealership to bring it back in and they said hyundai of america says it needed the combustion chamber cleaning, which i had to pay for. even though it was throwing the p1326 error code. but after the cleaning is done i pick it back up and not even ten miles from the dealership my car goes back into limp mode, so i turn around and take it back. they just got back to me on [XXX] saying hyundia of america is declining to replace my engine since its no longer under warranty. Vehicle is experiencing engine failure. Hyundai has been no help in the situation. Vehicle has loss of power and speed but no illuminating check engine light has ever came on.
We had previously been to Allen Samuels Hyundai in Jackson, TN for an oil consumption test. We received a call the following week telling us that the mileage was too high for warranty or to continue the consumption test. I was adding a quart of oil once a week. I never had any lights appear for any problems due to low oil or overheating. On a Sunday evening we were returning home on [XXX]. We had the cruise set at 70 mph. We started to lose power and the engine started to shake. The car quit and would not restart. We called for a wrecker to tow us to the nearest shop. We were informed the following Friday that we had low compression and needed to replace the engine. Something should be done due to numerous engine failures. Engine started Knocking took to Hyundai dealer and was informed that the Motor has to be replaced, due to know issues with them. Month goes by was informed that the motors are on back order and that its going to be 6 months or more before they can get my car fixed. No recalls on the motor were sent to me and non are listed on the web site. Was informed that I'm not able to drive it anymore as the motor could freeze up and cause issues.
I was driving on the highway at 60mph. I had driven for 30 miles. My car began to shake and would not accelerate. I made my way to the shoulder on the highway and was able to coast down an exit. My engine had died. Right before this occurred the check engine light went on. I still was able to steer and brake. I did get off the highway only because I could tell the car was losing power. By the time I stopped it was dead. I have had my car checked out because of the way it drives. It burns oil at a rate which should not occur. I keep it maintained and in good condition. As I said I have had concerns about the way my engine runs yet have been told "its like a truck" and this model "burns oil" I did not get hurt as I am an experienced driver. I could tell that the engine was failing and was able to get to the shoulder. Had I not i would have been killed as i was on a highway and engine failed. My car is currently at the dealer. It has 107000 miles. It is just 7,000 miles over warranty. There is no reason a car that is taken care of should have engine failure with no signs or symptoms. From what I've read looks like this is a newer problem with 2018 vehicles. I am prepared to supply any maintenance receipts or work done on the vehicle. Clearly there is a safety risk. It also appears its happening once the car has high miles. This is very disturbing, scary and sad that it appears another person actually tried to fight this, and Hyundai won.
issues with the 2018 Tucson- Transmission has always sputtered, had numerous updates and resets for it. still an issue. also it doesn't want to go into gear sometimes and bob when going into drive, or reverse. slow pick up from a complete stop, the other morning it became a safety concern when I had my daughter in the car. The car start to move when I stepped on the gas, then stopped in the middle of the intersection of [XXX] four way. The RPM's as I was stepping on the gas was shifting between 5-7 and the car it wasn't moving. Engine- in September I noticed my oil pressure light flashing on and off, this pointed me to check the oil. the oil was very low, added oil to the vehicle. since then I have had the dealer involved due to high oil burning . in [XX] I had an oil change done and no oil was found in the engine after I had placed oil in it prior. they did the oil change and I went back at the end of October and they had noticed my oil burnt off again. they did the combustion cleaning and returned the vehicle back to me [XXX]. Since then I drove 950 miles on the vehicle, Last Saturday the oil pressure light was flashing as I took my daughter to her dance class, I checked the oil and the oil was reading below the low mark on the dipstick. I returned to the dealer that morning for the oil consumption test, in which they said it was only a quart low which seemed odd to me since it was low on the dipstick. I have had corporate involved as well and all my concerns have gone as this is normal for your car. Hyundai has had issues with my Year Tucson, from my research since I started having the issues they have settled a lawsuit for the problems with the engine and transmission which I have in it.my research, as the vehicle ages, the engine burns large amounts of oil and transmission failure, stopping while driving. I would like them to replace the engine and transmission before my warranty is up. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Oil is burning VERY quickly. Less than 1qt draining when performing oil change.
My car was working fine since I bought it in April 2023. I passed inspection in November 2023. On January 24, after driving for about 15mins, my check engine light began flashing. The car would not accelerate over 25mph. I brought it to a dealership where it has been for 3 days. All communication about this problem was initiated by me, and the only answers I get are vague comments about testing.
Excessive oil consumption due to piston ring failure. Clogged catalytic converter due to metal shavings from piston ring failure. This put my safety and the safety of others at risk due to potential engine failure which disables all other safety features of the vehicle. confirmed by a hyundai dealership. inspected by a hyundai certified dealership. No warning lamps but oil consumption has been an ongoing issue.
The car stopped mid-drive with no warning light or anything in the middle of the road. When we took the car to the nearby mechanic they had told us that it was an oil consumption issue with our engine. He refilled the oil and the car was operational again (the oil was changed <2 months prior and <1.5k miles). The first time this happened the engine was making unusual noises several months ago and we refilled the oil at that time and it resolved. In other words, despite being diligent in routine oil changes according to usual maintenance standards the car is burning through it and more importantly not even alerting us about the issue before causing dangerous complete engine shut down mid-drive.
This is the 2nd time I have had a sensor indicator. The first was a knock sensor where my car barely made it across the road. Now another code for intake issues. If my car dies and I get hit Hyundai is liable. I know many people that have issues with their Hyundai dying and are without their cars waiting for repairs for. months and months, but the fact that I have a grandson and my car could die is incomprehensible. These cars need to be pulled off the market.
I was driving home from a family get together with my husband and daughter in my car. We smelled something burning, and suddenly smoke was coming out of my center console. I pulled over and flames were coming out of the driver side. As soon as we evacuated the vehicle, it burst into flames. There was no warning, nothing lit up on the dashboard to warn me of this hazard. A witness was driving behind us and called 911 when he noticed flames underneath my vehicle right before I pulled over. A police report was filed and it was reported to my insurance agent, it is currently still under investigation since it just happened 2 days ago during a Holiday weekend. My safety and my family's safety was put at risk due to no warning, how fast the vehicle went up in flames, etc. The car was a total loss.
Engine failure from spun rod bearings, confirmed by a Hyundai dealership. The 1.6 motor in this vehicle has the same excessive oil consumption issue just like the 2.0 and 2.4 motors, but is not covered under any recall or class action law suit. That oil consumption i believe contributed to engine failure. There were no warning lights or anything until the damage occured.
The engine has failed in my 2018 Hyundai Tuscon. I was driving the car daily since purchasing in July of 2023. Everything was fine until the first week of October, I had just picked up my son and was getting on the interstate when my check engine light came on and my oil light would flash on and off occasionally not persistently. I had the car checked immediately and there was no oil in the car at all. I added oil to the car, but it was too late the engine had already blown. I drove my son to school the next morning and the car sounded like a lawn mower and was knocking continuously. The dealership has the car now and this is a known problem with this model car. The car could've locked up while I was on the interstate with my child and we or others could have been severely hurt in an accident or car fire if the engine caught fire. The dealership is not offering to remedy the situation even knowing this is a known problem for their cars. There is already a recall for most of these cars but for my engine the cut off stops at year 2017, I think this should be reconsidered and 2018 should also be included in the recall as I have read many testimonials regarding people having the same problem I had, there was no indication anything was wrong with the oil or engine until it was too late.
As I was pulling out of a bank driveway onto a busy access road my car just died. Lost all power. NO warning bells, no lights on the dash, no warning at all. This could have potentially caused an accident. I could have been hit by another vehicle as my car was dead. Pushed it out of the way of traffic, checked oil and there was none. Ended up having it towed to the dealership. The dealership told me that my engine had failed and would need to be replaced due to cylinder 3 rod bearing failure due to oil consumption (a known problem from this manufacturer).
The car was making an engine noise and stopped working. My car oil was on level and the oil wasn’t need any change , then was confirmed that the car engine is blown
When I accelerate from a stop sign or yield it Jerks and hesitates to accelerate. I have to release the gas and push again sometimes doing this multiple times when this happens daily. I've taken it to Hyundi shops and they say it's a normal chararistic if a Tuscan. It also uses an excessive amount of oil. I am told this is because of the engine. If I go change my oil right at every 3k miles my oil level is well below the minimum line so I have been changing it every 1500 miles.
While driving on the highway going up a 6% grade incline, the car stopped accelerating and car engine stalled out. There were no previous warning signs or indications of engine problems prior to this incident. There was no light that alarmed any defect to the car. The car had always driven smoothly. I maintained proper maintenance and regular oil changes. The car only had 65,000 miles on it. The safety of my passengers were at risk due to stalling out on the highway, luckily there was no harm to myself or others on the road. The dealership confirmed that the engine will need to be replaced. The engine has not been inspected by the manufacture. Unfortunately, due to a rebuilt title was declined warranty coverage. The title was rebuilt due to hail damage, no crash or flood damage.
Lots of engine oil consumption And transmission since I bought car spend excessive engine oil and transmission fluid as well
I am the second owner of this vehicle. Ever since my car had around 60,000 miles on it, at which time I still had extended warranty purchased, I've been having issues with the oil consumption. I started the oil consumption tests, after the first part of the test it was proven that my car was consuming too much oil. During the 2nd part of the oil consumption testing, the dealer ship did an engine combustion cleaning, which supposedly helped with the consumption of the oil. I was back to having the same issue with the engine consuming my oil only 4 months later. So now I am currently doing my second oil consumption testing. At both tests, I was assured that if my engine fail these tests, I will be getting a new engine for my car at no expense to me, and that Hyundai would cover all the costs. I currently failed both parts of the test and got approved for a new engine, but I will be responsible for covering 20% of the cost of the engine (around $1800). It was obvious that my car was having oil consumption issues when I still had my extended warranty (it expired at 72,000) and maybe my extended warranty wouldn't have an issue with covering the cost of the engine just like Hyundai is having issues. I hear and read about so many people having this issue and complaining about Hyundai this is ridiculous. I purchased this vehicle and gave me trust to Hyundai and all I've been having is issues with this vehicle. Also, before starting my second oil consumption testing, my catalytic converter got so clogged up from the engine oil that my vehicle lost power. I drive my car with my child in it, and being on the highway while the car loses power was very dangerous for us. Hyundai should be ashamed for selling people these cars that don't last
The engine, rod bearing failure, constantly ABS Kits, Engine monitoring system (car is available for inspection). Our safety and others put at risk because the auto stopped dead on Interstate during rush hour traffic barely escaped death and seriously injuries to all travelers close to us. Towed it to a dealer for diagnostic testing who confirmed it's the engine and rod bearing system on report of inspection and estimate invoice. Manufacture told us to take it to a dealership and we took it to Wallace Hyundai of Stuart Florida. The warning was a knocking sound and oil light flickering just before auto began to sliw down to final stop. All took place on August 8, 2023. I have 7 photos to upload but your site is not allowing more than 10 documents. I tried to delete some documents but it did not have a delete function once I uploaded the documents.
The car is having problems excellating when you push the gas it take it a moment to realize the gas is push and it needs to go
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the engine made an abnormal rattling sound. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was a piston failure in a cylinder which caused the engine to seize. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to cover 60% of the cost for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.
Mileage: 131,000
My vehicle is burning 2 1/2 quarts of oil a month , my catalytic converter is clogged due to this, Hyundai is fighting me and will not take responsibility for either. With some research I’ve found they they do know about the issue in thousands of their vehicles and they are refusing to help anyone. I was driving up the road and my speed declined to 8mph & would not go any faster
This very low mileage vehicle recently had the same incident for I believe the fifth time since I've owned the car. In a very dangerous situation the car exibited the car going almost dead after normal acceleration. It regains power after 3-5 seconds and rapidly returning to acceleration. It happened to my wife soon after purchase and she has refused to drive it since. Last week while I attempted to make a left turn at a yellow light it again went dead and traffic was forced to slow while the car behind me almost rea ended me. Recently the engine seems to run rough at times. Never have I seen any engine trouble lights since I've owned it. Three separate Hyundai dealers have looked at and seemed to be aware of what's causing it, but chose their words carefully. My neighbor owns one of the largest new cars dealerships in the Midwest. I spoke with him about this problem and he said his used car manager would NEVER purchase one with this engine/transmission for resale! A Hyundai service manager told me to get rid of it soon. When told I was planning on gifting it to my daughter, he said he wouldn't... The car only has 33,000 miles and looks new. Always garaged, never driven in snow.
In May 2023 while on family vacation my tucson oil light came on and went what I believe in limp mode. Oil has always been changed on time, checking oil, was full and clean. Had to tow back from TN to PA. Called hyundai and they stated that the engine has a known problem and a campaign is on them. I then had it towed to a hyundai dealership for a June 9th 2023 appointment. The dealership didn't even know why they let me make it. They had 9 tucsons with same problem in front of me. Now Aug 6th 2023 still waiting at dealership to be even looked at. Unreal
At about 60k miles I noticed the check engine light would come on and so I checked the oil only to see it completely empty. I get regular oil changes and have documentation. I took into Hyundai to get recalls fixed and mentioned the excessive oil consumption to them and the service manager stated that it was not enough oil consumption and I would have to pay to diagnose further. Well I have contacted Hyundai corporate and they denied looking any further at my vehicle. So I have been goin to my oil change place about every 2-3 weeks and I have records that after about 1,000 miles I am having to put two quarts of oil in. Current mileage now is 100k and the value of my car is like $5-8 dollars. I owe 23k on this vehicle! I was also not told it was in a n accident when I purchased it.
Vehicle purchased Jan 2023. Vehicle began making suspect noises in June 2023 and was taken to Ford dealership where the car and extended warranty were purchased in January. We were told that the noise was believed to be due to low oil. Oil was changed as part of maintenance covered under the extended warranty. About 5000 miles had been driven since last known oil change that was done prior to our purchase of the car in January. On Jul 19, 2023, vehicle began to make loud noises again and had difficulty accelerating. The same day, engine stopped while exiting highway. Car was found to have little to no oil in it even though it had been serviced 6 weeks prior and had only been driven ~3000 miles. Engine was knocking badly but did not seem to be overheating. Three quarts of oil were added, but the car cut off when put into drive. Vehicle was towed to Ford dealership where it and extended warranty were purchased. Ford dealership declined to work on the car and stated it should go to Hyundai because the engine needed to be replaced. Due to long wait for Hyundai appointment, the vehicle is currently being assessed by a certified mechanic. I am looking to Hyundai or Class action lawsuits to see if this vehicle and situation will be covered by the manufacturer. We do not know the exact cause of the failure yet and if it will be covered. My mechanic is working with Easy Care warranty company. There were no warning lights, no check engine light, no gauges indicating it was overheating or low on oil.
On Sunday July 16 while driving home from Cape Cod to my home in Walpole, my engine stopped working while on the highway in Plymouth, ma. I promptly turned on my hazards and had to get over to the travel lane as I was in the passing lane when this occurs. The oil light was flashing as was the engine light and I had to coast to a gas station. Thankfully the exit was a downhill one
On April 30th my cars check engine lite came on while driving on I84 with multiple people in the car, the car slowly started to lose momentum and could no longer accelerate. The next available appointment at the local dealership (MotorWorld, Wilkes-Barre PA) was on May 22nd. It was then confirmed that my knock sensor detection was faulty. It was recently recalled or something along those lines. It was then fixed on May 22nd then returned to me. On May 23rd less than 24hrs later my car was being towed back to the dealership as the check engine light had come back on, code P1326, after having fuel injectors 2 and 3 replaced and the engine cleaned, Hyundai tech line declared my engine needed to be replaced. However, Hyundai is refusing to replace the engine even though it is code P1326 (knock sensor detection) that has called my engine to now become faulty. Replacing the knock sensor has not fixed the problem. It is now July 18th and I still do not have my car back as it is sitting at the dealership, undriveable.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle shut off with the check engine, oil, and additional unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact called his brother for a jumpstart, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a friend's residence where his brother inspected the vehicle and discovered a hole in the engine block. The vehicle was then towed to the contact's residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 123,400.

i was driving on the freeway on Nov 22, 2022 when without warning my car went into limp mode. the engine warning light flashed. this puts the driver (and any passengers) at great risk, as the engine is severely limited in its power output. the car will move, but very slowly and acceleration is weak to non-existent. at highway speeds, this situation could have also impacted anyone behind me who came upon my limp vehicle and could not react in time to my slow speed. it has 60,250 miles on it. i drove home, had an initial diagnosis at a local auto repair shop as follows, "removed the (spark) plug and it is badly damaged with oil in cylinder indicating an internal engine problem". i had the car towed on Dec 7, 2022 to the dealer where i purchased the vehicle. the dealer could not look at the vehicle until Feb 17, 2023 when they diagnosed a burnt valve and the engine would have to be replaced. on Feb 21, 2023 i was told that the replacement was awaiting approval and should only take a day or two. it took until May 19, 2023 to approve the engine replacement under warranty. as of this writing (July15, 2023), i am still waiting my turn at the dealership for the engine to be replaced. it appears that i am not alone in this situation of Hyundai/Kia producing bad engines that prematurely fail and then have to fight for a warranty replacement. i have been almost 8 months without my vehicle.
i received a letter in the mail stating the nock sensor has been replaced i dont know howlong ago but my 2018 tucan is stuck in false sage mode saying the nock senor was bad! if it is a on going issue and there is has been a recall on the part why does it show no recalls for my mode car?
These people have sold me a car that is burning oil and they refuse to honor their settlement made by a class action lawsuit against them to replace the motors that are in fact burning oil. At first they told me that they would seal the oil and for me to drive 1000 miles and return to them so that they can determine if the car was leaking or burning oil. Upon return they did in fact say that it was not leaking and that it was burning oil but it was "not burning as much oil as it should in order to replace the engine". In what world should a car burn oil? This car is too dangerous to drive, the other day the engine shut down as I was driving it on I75 which put my life in danger due to its lack of oil. I have reached out to corporate and unfortunately no resolution. Should I wait until I get into an accident or the engine completely burns down as I am driving it for it to satisfy their requirements to replace the engine?
I have only owned the car for 1 month. I had gotten an oil/filter change and a new oil pressure sensor at ~80,100 miles. I had requested the oil sensor be changed because it would flicker on and off when the car was idling/low RPMs once it had heated up fully. This had fixed that issue seemingly. At ~80,700 miles the car had started riding a bit "rough", especially at higher speeds, so I decided to have a look under the hood. I was terrified to see that my dipstick was bone dry. There was never any evidence of any noticeable leak underneath the car on the driveway nor any evidence of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. After some research (Hyundai corporate was telling me over the phone multiple times that there was no known issues with my specific car/engine) I was appalled to see I was essentially lied to. I found multiple official TSBs, NHTSA notices, and hundreds if not thousands of other customers noting the exact same experience. I had tried to take it to Hyundai for the oil consumption tests laid out in multiple TSBs but I was denied "due to the original warranty expiring". To my knowledge this exact issue has caused Hyundai and Kia to extend to 150k miles for all owners. This is my only mode of transportation and I am so worried my car will stall/seize/catch fire on the highway. This is beyond unsafe and unacceptable but I assume I may have to wait until the final litigation hearing in September for official recalls to be issued. If my car makes it that long.
In the last 3 months I have had my vehicle go into Limp Mode due to a faulty engine. All 3 times while I was on the highway and I was almost seriously injured due to traffic. Ever since I got the Knock Sensor update, I have had nothing but problems. I have had a new catalytic convertor, new spark plugs, oil change, air filter and fuel injector replaced in Dec 2022. The spark plugs are dripping in oil only after 8,000 miles. All of those parts have now failed and I am burning oil at an increased rate. I have contacted Hyundai multiple times and have had case files opened and I have not got any resolution or help. I have spent close to $6,000 on repairs and rental cars and there has still not been any resolution. My engine needs to be replaced due to the recall but no one is helping. I have attached all of the paperwork that has been done.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION! Vehicle has less than 60k and I have to check and put oil in about every 1,000 miles. Engine light comes on and this is how I know to check the oil. This is ridiculous and should not be happening. I change my oil as directed at every 5,000 miles and at least 2-3 times before next oil change I am adding more oil. WHY AM I BURNING SO MUCH OIL? No oil is leaking that I can see...
Three months after I bought my 2018 Hyundai Tucson it started having engine problems. It has went into limp mode multiple times and has been to the shop several times to have it fixed. The knock sensor has been replaced twice by two different Hyundai dealerships. The engine is losing oil rapidly and has to be replaced every few weeks. It has been advised by both Hyundai dealerships that a new engine is required at this point but Hyundai corporation themselves won’t allow the engine repair. This type of car and engine are known for engine replacements around this exact type of engine and amount of mileage on the vehicle. My safety and my sons safety is in jeopardy every time we get in this vehicle as it can go back into limp mode at any given time and if we are driving and it just stalls we are liable to get into an accident. I have to keep taking the vehicle to the shop to have oil replaced and a temporary fix put on it until it just blows as they put it. They are also unable to advise where all the oil keeps going. I shouldn’t be liable for a new engine and it should be replaced by the Hyundai corporation as this happened very shortly after I bought the vehicle, I can be in potential danger when driving, it is a known issue with this type of vehicle and engine, multiple Hyundai dealerships have advised it falls within engine replacement guidelines. I need Hyundai to be responsible for repairing my engine! I have all receipts and documentation from every repair that has been done and every time the vehicle has been taken in.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 72,000.

While diving home from a baseball game my car caught fire with me and my family inside.
Oil light came on while driving. Pulled over checked oil and it was full and clean. Engine started making a rattling sound. Car then died and had to be towed. Mechanic says needs a new engine. Hyundai engine issue very dangerous and I don't know if they will replace. Starting the process
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where engine oil was added. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred him to the dealer for an oil consumption test. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

Acceleration issue, from a stop position on a red light or stop sign, when the gas pedal is pressed the engine revs but does not move immediately, after a couple of seconds it lundges forward, also when trying to merge you must wait for a very big gap to safely merge, the car does not respond and this is very dangerous, Hyundai need to rectify this issue before someone dies.
When accelerating, my car seems to hesitate. This happens regularly. The other day, making a left turn in an intersection with on-coming traffic, the engine hesitated to the point that the vehicle stopped moving forward. This was a concern since I did make a timely turn, but hadn't planned on my vehicle almost stopping in the middle of an intersection. My check engine light has not turned on, and the vehicle has less than 30,000 miles on it. I am concerned to the point that I will be taking it to a dealer to check it out.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle began to lose forward momentum. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal to gain speed and the vehicle continued to lose forward momentum. The contact stated that the engine revved and there was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled off the roadway and turned the vehicle off. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle and the vehicle failed to restart. The contact had her father inspect her vehicle, he then replaced the battery and was able to restart the vehicle and drove it to her residence at a slow speed. The contact stated that her father told her that the vehicle was making abnormal sounds in the engine. The contact stated that she later saw that oil had puddled under her vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the drain plug had fallen after a previous oil change. The contact stated that the oil change had been performed nearly 4 months prior. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: DP22003 (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on various occasions while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a routine oil change, she was made aware of an oil leak; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was stalling while depressing the accelerator pedal while driving at various speeds, and while driving uphill. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there was a misfire in cylinder #1 and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a local dealer for repair. The contact stated that after she made a local dealer aware of the failure, she was informed that the engine was discontinued and advised to contact the manufacturer for further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the contact was made aware that the warranty had expired and that she was responsible for the costs of the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

My wife was driving home. She had taken the highway home when she had suddenly lost power with no warning or indication from the cars dashboard there was no warning lamps or messages explaining why the car lost power and that the car would not turn back on. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the engine was seized up and that the motor needed to be replaced and that the car had no oil in the engine. Which is not possible since the cars Maintenace intervals were maintained. It was also later determined that the oil pan bolt was under tighten due to bad threading on the oil pan and bad oil pan seals. The car will be towed to a dealership for further inspection. This issue presents a possible fire hazard or risk of accident while at high speeds. My wife did suffer a small injury to her forehead after rapid loss of speed from the steering wheel.
Compression test found cylinder 3 @ 58. Found cylinder leakage between cylinder 2 & 3. Engine replacement suggested by dealer. Vehicle has 149990. Dealer also stated engine is warp which is not included in diagnostic statement. Dealer engine replacement cost $12,324.23
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tuscan. The contact stated that while her daughter was operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 30 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty sensor, which had malfunctioned when the oil change was due. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions when the oil change was due. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000. The VIN was not available.

The oil plug fell out of my Tuscon while I driving on the highway and it burned out my entire engine on January 2, 2023, at approximately 5:40 pm EST. The tech at the dealership found the plug in the tray under the spot where the plug goes. It was inspected by a technician at a Hyundai dealership. The car is a 2018 Tuscon--had less than 55,000 miles on it and is now basically worthless and undrivable, quoted $13,000 to fix it. My entire engine now needs to be replaced. I was within the lifespan of my last oil change when the plug fell out. A red oil light flickered on and then a battery subsequently came on. Within approximately three minutes of the light first flickering on, the car was dead on the side of the highway. The car would not turn over once it was stopped on the side of the highway. The car is still at the dealership and available for inspection as of today, but I am not sure how long it will be there because I am not sure what is the best path forward in terms of repair because of the financial cost. I'm lucky that I was able to navigate my car onto the shoulder of the highway and secure a tow without injury. It was a very foggy day and it was already dark when this occurred and I was afraid I would be struck if I exited my car. My car drifted to a stop at the start of an exit ramp with a highway barrier that prevented me from going farther right onto the shoulder.
Engine (1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder) had a catastrophic failure driving along highway. Engine instantly lost power and stalled. No indicators on instrument cluster prior to engine stall, temperature gauge for coolant indicating nominal conditions. Upon pulling over to the side of the road, check engine & batter indicator lights shown on the instrument cluster. Hyundai's roadside assistance system, Bluelink, did not activate with the engine's stall. It was observed that a mix of antifreeze and oils were dripping behind the engine onto the ground. Dealer later discovered that a piston connection rod had punched through the wall of the engine block. Dealer has submitted issue to Hyundai Corporate. Vehicle is aggressively service with manufacture dealerships according to recommended service intervals with synthetic fluids.
Vehicle stalls when accelerating at low speeds. It appears to be a delay when the car transitions from 1st to 2nd gear. This creates a safety concern, especially when taking turns into traffic due to delays/stalls when turning.
I went to get an oil change on Sept 3, 2022. After that oil change my car went back to normal but started to slow down in speed. On my way home my vehicle stalled. The more I drove the slower it got and loud grind it would make. My vehicle stalling could've caused an accident. My vehicle had a recall done March 21, 2021, which after Sept 7, 2022, I received a letter for a recall for a sensor for my vehicle that was issue per Hyundai website March 31, 2021. Hyundai has been able to confirm the issue. Only thing warning sign I received was my vehicle cut off the day I got the oil change Sept 3, 2022. We thought it may have been my battery.
The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact's daughter stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle began to lose motive power. The daughter stated that she depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle engine revved; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The daughter stated that she pulled over and stopped the vehicle and placed the vehicle in park(P). The vehicle was turned off and restarted and operated as designed. The contact's daughter stated that the vehicle was making hissing sounds while depressing the accelerator pedal. The daughter stated that the failure was intermittent; however, the failure occurred while driving over 50 MPH. The daughter stated that the check engine warning light was flashing. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,200.

The car will jerk while driving. The problem was fixed last year and again it is happening now.Worse..the car while being driven will suddenly slow down inspite stepping more on the gas pedal.
I’ve been having an issue with the car “jerking rapidly” when in traffic and rolling slowly and when climbing relatively small hills, it began about 2 months ago but have become progressively worse over the last month. I was told by someone with a similar vehicle that it is the “lower arm control. Need help with is or if there is a recall
The oil fuel tank has been burning oil too fast in the GDI Engine & the oil has burnt through my alternator and spark plugs that I recently fixed only three weeks ago. This caused the engine to lock up completely while I was driving several times & I lost control while driving - having to restart the car multiple times to move it to a safe area. Now, the engine has locked permanently and I am unable to start the car at all despite replacing several parts and getting an oil change every 3-5000 miles (which continues to leak too quickly and harm other parts in the car).
Knock sensor recall was done in May 2022. Brought vehicle into service for Ac problem and oil change, which was completed. Was on highway going home 65 mph speed limit hit a hill, my engine light started flashing, my transmission downshifted and I lost all accelaration while on hill, speed wouldn’t go any higher then 50 at that point. Got to closest gas station and had car towed back to dealership, I just want to point out that the knock sensor is going to put people in danger in certain situations like myself, I am not to happy.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving approximately 70 MPH, she started to hear a loud pinging noise coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that her daughter stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and she steered the vehicle to a highway off ramp as the vehicle began to lose motive power. The contact said her daughter saw that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle then stalled. The contact stated that her daughter called for a tow truck and had the vehicle taken to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and found metal shavings inside the oil pan and determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The engine caught on fire, it was considered totaled loss. I settled with the insurance and not sure if the car is still available for inspection. My safety was put at risk because I was driving the car when it happened. I did not get injured because I was able to get out of the car. There was no recall from what I know. The car was inspected by GEICO which is why it was considered totaled loss. There was no warning before the fire. The car was in great condition.
ENGINE LIGHTS continues to turn on every other day or so I took my car to get its regular Oil change and expressed this to one of the service reps about this issue they told me They couldn’t do anything about it because once they turned on the vehicle the light came off. A few days ago my engine started Blinking and I started panicking since I was on a highway from a road trip my car started making this awful cackling noise and I had To call a tow to then get told That this can take WEEKS TO FIX and NO RENTALS CAN BE PROVIDED WHEN I AM CLEARLY IN A DIFFERENT STATE THEN WHERE I LIVE! Hyundai IS ONCE OF THE WORST AUTO I HAVE EVER DELT WITH! Absolutely not Help I was practically stranded on an issue that Had nothing to do with me! The engine light came Out of no where
check engine light comes on bout 25 times a week i plug my scanner into it and it reads knock sensor faulty I seen a RECALL for these cars why doesn't my car have a recall of this on going issue?
Aug 9, 2022 ~1pm. Driving ~60 mph south on highway 18, 30 miles north of Lusk, WY. Heard 30 seconds of slapping noise from engine, follow by oil pressure low light. Accelerator also ceased to function. Pulled to side of road and waited for tow. Towed to Ken Garff Hyundai in Cheyanne, WY. Inspected on Aug 25, 2022 by technician at Ken Garff two weeks after incident. Hyundai authorized engine replacement. Hyundai also stated twice that there was a recall on the car. No recall appears in the NHTSA database. Problem is very similar to Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-727, which includes the 2017 Hyundai Tucson.
The vehicle has 81,000 miles with regular oil changes. We purchased as a certified pre owned with 45,000 miles on the vehicle. The car had been running perfectly. Last weekend the car was making an awful noise. Today the mechanic tells us the lower unit is knocking and the motor will need replaced. There is no way this should be happening at this mileage especially since the car has been regularly serviced. Hyundai is not even interested in repairing the vehicle, went straight to trying to get me to trade it in. We could have been stranded or killed on the highway and with all of the other complaints about this motor, I can’t believe there hasn’t been a recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and decelerated. Additionally, the vehicle was making a ticking sound which became a loud knocking sound. Additionally, the engine was revving however, the vehicle was decelerating. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled off the highway safely and then drove the vehicle to her residence. The contact's husband then drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that water had entered the engine cylinders and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed by the independent mechanic that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

I have a Hyundai 2018. I bought it in 2019 with about 64,000 miles on it. I keep up with all the maintenance on my SUV. I noticed once I moved from Illinois to Florida, after having the car for a year, it started consuming a lot of oil. I've never had an oil leak anywhere on the car. In November of 2020 I went to Take 5 to get my oil changed and the mechanic said make sure to check my oil often because my truck burns a lot of oil. I'm find myself putting oil in my truck once a week. Every 500 miles it needs oil. The crazy thing is, is that the oil light never once came on. The engine light will come on. I went to a recall appointment 2 weeks ago, which was the same day I got my oil changed June 11, 2022, and I told them about this issue and they did nothing. By June 23rd I needed more oil! I see California has a lawsuit about this issue. I want to trade in my truck because this is costing too much money feeding this truck gas and now oil!
An oil change was done and part of the transmission pan overflowed and then engine failed.
Powertrain issue. Multiple times the after stopping the engine revs for a few seconds and then the vehicle will lurch forward. It acts like the CVT transmission has a delayed response to the accelerator. The condition comes and goes and sometimes it happens multiple times in the same trip.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving up a hill, the vehicle lost motive power. While driving the vehicle at undisclosed speeds and turning, the vehicle hesitated and then accelerated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Mileage: 100,000
Driving down the road, accelerated to speed limit, but the car slowed down and the RPM's stayed at 2000. The car just stopped running and I was able to pull over into the middle lane. Towed to dealership, 6 weeks min. to diagnose until we know what happened . DANGEROUS!!!
my 2018 Hyundai Tucson starting having lurching issues on when first started. i have to back into my driveway so i dont have to go in reverse then go forward. it jerks back and forth so hard. It finally took its toll on the transfer case and it exploded internally. the Dealership said they had never seen this before. i was hoping that was the cause of the issue but it wasnt. Still doing it and am afraid it will do it again. i was under warranty when it happened, so teh $2000 replair was covered. i'm concerned it will happen again. teh problem goes away after it's been completely warmed up. but like many others, its a scary issue when first started. it also will also shift hard when it firsts get's going (after the initial hard lurching back and forth). i dont know what to do. Love the car otherwise, but concerned with ever buying a Hyundai again.
very bad acceleration from a stop position, engine revs but does not move, in slow traffic it hesitates and lunges forward like it’s not sure what it’s suppose to do, when trying to merge or pass another car, you have to give yourself time, it’s very dangerous, took it to the dealer 2 times, was told that’s how the car is made, there is no way this is suppose to be the way the car was built. also a smell of antifreeze but no leaks detected,
Electric media screen (navigation, radio and etc) died. Screen went black and would not turn on. Car wouldn’t start on first attempt this morning. Mild Southern California conditions, garage parked. Car shakes / rattles when starting and powering down
The contact owned a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving up a hill at 30 MPH, she heard an abnormal popping noise emitting from underneath the vehicle without warning. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact saw that a fire had started from underneath the front passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle in front of hers witnessed the fire and assisted with calling the authorities to the scene. Both the fire and the police department arrived as the fire department extinguished the fire. Both a police and fire report were filed; no injuries were reported. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. Upon investigation, the contact linked her failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V543000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the cause of the fire had yet to be determined. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle had been destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.
As I Was Driving my 2018 Hyundai Tucson Down The Highway No Lights No Warnings Nothin My Car Just Shut Off In The middle of the road and would not even crank or turn over and had a burnt smell which could have got myself and others killed So Had Help Getting It To The Side of the road until the tow driver came Took it to the shop to realize the engine is seized How could this happen on a new vehicle without no warning signs it’s had regular oil changes and very well kept car i have talked to many repair shops that have said that have said my car is not the first one they have seen with this year with these problems you guys really need to put out a recall before someone gets killed because of Hyundais engines I could have got myself and my kids killed without WARNING ! I will never buy a Hyundai again a new car and the motor is seized it’s ridiculous and has put my life and kids in danger
Catastrophic engine failure due to loss of oil pressure without warning at highway speeds. Traveling approximately 70mph on the freeway. Engine develops a rapid knock in sync with engine RPM's and immediate loss of power. At the same moment, I exited the freeway. As I left off the accelerator to apply the brake, the engine stalls completely. Once stopped, I checked the engine oil, which was within specifications. Had vehicle towed to a mechanic and diagnosed as engine failure due to loss of oil pressure. Before this, the engine regularly consumed 2-3 quarts of oil per oil change starting at approximately 45,000 miles. Catalytic convertor has been replaced once due to being plugged by consumed oil. Hyundai fails to remedy.
My engine has locked up on me and stalled because of water in the oil. I was never informed about this “knock sensor” update for Hyundai that would have prevented all this in the first place. I’ve had to come out of pocket for 2 tow trips and loaner car all while my vehicle is under 5 year/ or 60,000 mile warranty!! Now this apparent “America’s best warranty” local dealership is trying to tell me that my repairs are not covered under the warranty and I would have to pay $10,000 out of pocket for the repairs! This is going on 3 months now and still no one has contacted me and no one is helping me. That vehicle is my ONLY source of transportation to and from work an hour away! I am unsatisfied with my Hyundai Tucson and the false advertisement for claiming to be “America’s best warranty” and for not providing a safe reliable vehicle like Hyundai promises!
A connecting rod bearing was thrown through the engine block causing it to stall out on the freeway. This is exactly what is occurring with vehicles in the Theta Class Action Settlement but the company states my VIN number is not included.
Rod bearing failure. Sounded like a tractor all of a sudden and stalled every time I’d come to a stop. Had it towed to the dealership. Awaiting word from Hyundai as to whether the warranty will cover this. Checked oil and wasn’t low. No check engine lights or oil lights or anything ever came on. No noises prior to this happening. Kept up on routine maintenance.
I bought my 2018 tuscon one year ago in June 2020. 70,000 miles on it now, regular maintenance. No warning lights, everything was running OK. I started experiencing hesitation taking off then lunging when stopped in the last few months. Now I'm sitting in the driveway because it won't start. Realized oil was low which is odd because I've noticed it's been burning more than previous but no more than a quart so it's not like it was dry. I'm supposed to be able to get 5k on an oil change now adays but starts running poorly if it's not changed by 3k. Needless to say iadded qt of oil I was going to get oil changed yesterday but wouldn't start. I changed the battery, still won't start, starter was tested good, fuses all in tack, changed camshaft sensors at 90 dollars a piece still nothing. Check alternator that's fine. It clicks one time but have all lights power everywhere it should. In 2 days I've spent 215 on a battery, 200 with tax on sensors, 50 code reader no code by the way. Did have p0014 which indicated need for either oil change or camshaft sensor. Nothing. I'm a sitting duck and all the things I've experience are what they experienced in the theta engines like hesitated, burning oil, ticking sounds, lunging etc. GDI isn't any better. I hate this car. After this one is paid off and I guess put a new engine in I'll be getting rid of it. Going back to a solid Buick. I'll never buy another hyundai. This is the second vehicle with engine problems we bought. Not to mention the risk of for but hyundai near me hasn't been able to get the parts for over a year. I'm currently in a wait list.
Emission light is on and called dealer for an appointment, stated they will called me when they can line me up with a tech and I still waiting.
Buy brand new off lot. Never miss Regular maintenance on engine oil and filters. Car had only 55200 miles. After 500 miles regular oil interval maintenance. Car underbody show no oil leaks anywhere on 12/05/2021 park on driveway. This morning Car not start without oil indicator or engine light warning comes up. Open hood up, check oil dip stick show no oil residue. Yike, where is low oil warning light sensor when no oil in engine. Apparently it not working or never have it on in my opinion. Gotta be recall issue for this. So I ran to Walmart get a quart of sythenic oil recommended and fill it up. Car start up find and drive ok for now. Not sure in future. This is a must recall on No Oil Indicator Sensor Malfunction!!!!!!!!!
Purchased new on 5/30/2018. 3/2021 I noticed shaking, noises, pinging, whining sounds and vibration coming from engine as I turn engine on / off and in drive. 3/24/2021 I brought vehicle for inspection. Service Advisor felt the shaking, vibrations and heard the pinging / noises and whining sounds as I turned the vehicle off. Vehicle went for oil change and inspection, stayed overnight and no fault found, service bay stated they could not reproduce the occurrence. The sensations worsened and I brought vehicle back on 3/30/2021 for inspection as I did not feel safe driving vehicle. 4/02/2021 dealer said the sensations could not be detectable and it was suggested that maybe the Turbo dual clutch engine. 10/15/2021 the air conditioner failed. Brought vehicle in for inspection. Service performed diagnostic testing on vehicle and found internal failure on a/c compressor. New compressor was ordered and replaced. Replacement air conditioner is not as powerful or cold as original part. Vehicle is still making pinging, whining, vibrations. 11/29/2021, engine light came on. I reversed out of a parking spot and it felt different. Put gear in drive and immediately the gas pedal went to half way to floor and the vehicle jerked and then seemed to catch the gear. Then the pedal went to the floor and there was no go, then it kicked in. Repeated multiple times. Tried reverse and there was none. No rpm movement and quickly came a strong burning smell. Had vehicle towed dealer. All vehicle services are current and up to date.
My engine blew on the freeway. And we believe it to be a rod bearing issue. Regular oil changes and maintenance done since I owned it. It is currently at the dealership awaiting to hopefully be repaired through extended warranty. The service lot was filled with Tucson's and the service repair man said it was the same issue in all of them. This is a major safety concern as engine failure anywhere on the road can lead to accidents and stalling vehicles. Upon the engine failure, there were no engine lights or any signs that this was going to happen. My car stopped accelerating so I began to pull over and before I could get fully over, all of the engine lights started flashing and the engine began smoking. I just don't want this to continue to happen as this is clearly an ongoing issue, there was a recall with the rod bearing in the 2017 2.0 model, which is my model but being a 2018. I appreciate your time in reviewing this and hope it catches some attention.
With 2018, Hyundai Tucson, I was accelerating on the highway coming off of an exit ramp. I was on my way to the dealership to investigate a knocking sound I just started hearing with the engine. Suddenly, the engine failed completely and I started to smell burning. I was able to roll into the shoulder and have my car towed to the dealership. An engine light came on a few miles before the engine failed, but I had no warnings at the start of the trip. Car was at 60,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where they informed her of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V543000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the parts for the recall were unavailable. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer for four months and recently informed her that her engine needed to be replaced; she was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS

Bought car on 7/14/2021 with 43,200 miles - on September 18, 2021 the car stopped working on the highway. Towed to dealership and after 7 days in the lot was told it had a cracked engine block. Over 2 weeks later they still have no idea when the replacement block will be in and when the vehicle will be fixed. Can't offer a loaner even though warranty calls for them to supply one.
The Engine check engine light activated and within a few miles while accelerating from a stop sign the engine had very little power, just missed a colision by cross traffic. Upon inspection the engine had very little engine oil. There was no indication of low oil pressure, and the oil was changed at regular intervals as recommended by Hyundai. This vehicle HAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THERE IS NO INDICATION WHEN IT IS GETTING VERY LOW UNTIL THE ENGINE FAILS TO RESPOND.
On the way to taking my son to the hospital, the car stopped working, delaying the medical care I needed for my son after being attacked by a pitbull. It was then towed to the dealership who regularly services the car. They stated it was the motor. Stated I need a new one. Stated it failed due to missing the oil change by two weeks. There were no warning signs/signals or anything coming from the car that would have caused me to bring the car in sooner.
44,000 miles on car. While driving on highway noticed an 18 wheeler three feet behind me, tried to accelerate and nothing happened. Right before the car started making a noise, luckily no one was in the right lane so I coasted to the median. I was just informed the car needs an engine. Two days before I heard a fluttering sound and the car seemed to have trouble accelerating.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE 10 SECONDS THEN A LOUD BOOM AND BLEW DARK SMOKE OUT THE BACK AND ENGINE STOPPED. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND COASTED OFF THE FREEWAY. REAR WINDSHIELD AND TAILGATE WERE COVERED IN OIL, AT LEAST IT WAS CLEAN, I HAD CHANGED IT A FEW DAYS PRIOR. TOWED TO SHOP AND ONCE ON THE LIFT THE ROD STICKING OUT THROUGH THE BLOCK WAS A SHOCK TO SAY THE LEAST. 14 MONTHS AGO I REPLACED THE ENGINE AFTER SEVERE OIL LEAKS LED TO THE BLOCK WARPING. THAT WAS $6000 THAT HYUNDAI DECLINED TO COVER. PUT A USED THETA ENGINE IN AND EVERYTHING WAS GOOD UNTIL THIS. OBVIOUSLY HYUNDAI ISN'T GOING TO COVER THIS EITHER. HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS AND STILL OWE OVER $10K ON LOAN. I'M ABOUT TO PAY FOR ANOTHER THETA ENGINE THAT IS COMING FROM THE SAME MODEL YEAR AS THE PREVIOUS TWO. I FEEL INSANE DOING THIS, LIKE I'M ASKING FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN BUT NO OTHER OPTIONS.

I HAVE BEEN REACHING OUT TO AUTO NATION WHERE I PURCHASED MY 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS A SWISHING NOISE AND SPUTTERING THE CAR JUST STOPPED I WAS HOWEVER ABLE TO GET ON THE OFF RAMP THE CAR WAS TOWED WHICH COST ME 528.00 TO GET OUT HAD HE RE-TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND THE ENGINE ROD BLEW OUT AND UP MAKING A GOOD SIZE HOLE IN THE OIL PAN NOW I HAVE TO PAY 120.00 DIAGNOSTICS CHARGES BUT THEY DO NOT THINK HYUNDAI WILL PAY FOR REPAIRS SO I'M PAYING FOR A CAR THAT IS COMPLETELY INCAPACITATED. I WAS READING ON YOUR REPORTS CONCERNING HYUNDAI AND KIA THE LAW SUIT FOR THEIR SLOW RESPONSE BUT TO THIS DAY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND REPORT ON THE ENGINE PROBLEM AND ROD IS EXACTLY WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY HYUNDAI EXCEPT IT HASN'T CAUGHT ON FIRE AS OF YET MY UNDERSTANDING IS PARK IT AWAY FROM EVERYTHING AS JUST BEING PARKED IT CAN STILL CATCH ON FIRE. I NEED HELP ON THIS MATTER... THANK YOU I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED SINCE MARCH 2021

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED KNOCKING LOUDLY THEN A LOUD BOOM AND ALL THIS BLACK SMOKE CAME FROM THE BACK END. THE VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED AND I WAS ALMOST KILLED BY A SEMI TRUCK TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE ROD BLEW A HUGE HOLE IN MY ENGINE AND IT WAS NO GOOD. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 61K MILES PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW. OPENED A CASE WITH HYUNDAI AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME I HAD NO WARRANTY. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE ENGINE. ALSO THERE ARE TWO OTHER SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR THAT WERE ALSO UP AT THE SERVICE STATION FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND WITH LOW MILES AND HYUNDAI REFUSED TO MAKE THE MATTER RIGHT BY REPLACING THE MOTORS. THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND RIPPING OFF THE AMERICAN CONSUMER. 7300$ FOR A REPLACEMENT MOTOR AND THE VEHICLE IS PRACTICALLY NEW WITH THE LOW MILES I HAVE.

I HAVE A 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON WITH LESS THEN 75000 MILES THAT I HAVE JUST HAD FOR A YEAR THAT SUDDENLY STARTED KNOCKING AFTER HAVING IT CHECK AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS BEARING MATERIAL IN MY OIL AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY REFUSED TO COVER AS I WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS FOR THE LAST YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO LOCATE A NEW OR REFURBISHED ENGINE AND CANNOT PROVIDE A PREDICTED DATE ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I REACHED OUT TO AUTOZONE TO SEE IF I CAN PURCHASE AN ENGINE FROM THEM AND THEY STATED IT SAYS NA WHEN THEY ENTERED MY VIN SO THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE AN ENGINE AT ALL. SO I AM PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT I CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE IT NEEDS AN ENGINE BUT I ALSO CAN'T BUY AN ENGINE?!
Mileage: 74,600
I CHANGED ENGINE OIL A MONTH AGO AND STILL HAVE 500MILE LEFT UNTIL RE-CHANGE, BUT AFTER WHEN I WENT SHOPPING THE ENGINE SOUND WAS BAD SO I CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL STATUS AND THERE WERE NO ENGINE OIL AT ALL. THIS WAS NOT FIRST TIME, DOING THIS. I HEARD HYUNDAI ENGINE EAT SOME OIL, BUT IT IS KIND OF DANGEROUS IF I DIDNT CHECK THE STATUS.

CAR WAS SLOWLY ENTERING GARAGE AND CAME TO A FULL STOP WITH BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED IN GEAR. CAR WITHOUT WARNING, ENGINE REVVED UP TO FULL POWER AND CRASHED IN GARAGE. I AM ALLEGING CONDITION KNOWN AS SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THE DAMAGE REPAIRED AND THE COST OF REPAIR WAS OVER $4,000.00. PICTURES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. HYUNDAI PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON VEHICLE UPON MY DEMAND TO DO SO. WHEN REPORT CAME IN, I WAS REFUSED A COPY OF EXACT REPORT BY INSPECTOR AND ONLY GIVEN A SUMMARY BY COMPANY AGENT. WHEN I ASKED FOR THE EXACT INSPECTOR REPORT TO BE READ TO ME OVER THE PHONE, THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED AS WELL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, INCLUDING THE CHECK ENGINE, OIL AND TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE VEHICLE WHEN TEMP IS SET TO HIGH HEAT THEN SWITCHED TO 75 DEGREES THERE IS A STRONG COOLANT SMELL THAT COMES FROM THE HVAC SYSTEM. IT MAKES ME NAUSEOUS WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY CALLED ONCE AND I MISSED IT AND EMAILED THEM AND CALLED AND NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME BACK. COOLANT IS HAZARDOUS TO BREATH IN AND THEY DON'T TAKE IT AS A SERIOUS MATTER

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT VERY SLOW SPEED THE ENGINE SPUTTERS CAUSING THE CAR TO SHAKE AND NEARLY DIE. LIKE WHEN SOMEONE IS FIRST LEARNING TO DRIVE A STICK SHIFT. IT MAINLY HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING IN PARKING LOTS LOOKING FOR A SPACE. HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. MY WIFE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. MANY HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE WE TOOK POSSESSION JULY 2018 AND HAS WORSENED. THE MANUFACTURER WILL DENY THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. NO PROBLEM WITH HIGHWAY DRIVING .

I HAVE A 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WE HEARD KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THEN THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT CRASHING. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP. THE SHOP SAYS THAT THE ENGINE HAD KNOCKING NOISE WERE ROD BEARINGS AND THERE WAS COOLANT/ANTIFREEZE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK.

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAS AFRAID TO KEEP DRIVING IT SINCE I DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. MY CAR WAS TOWED BACK HOME. I HAD A TECHNICIAN CHECK MY CAR AND I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR HAD BLOWN UP. MY CAR ONLY HAS AROUND 67,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY THE TOW COMPANY THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE THAT I HAVE. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY RECALLS BUT DID FIND THAT A PREVIOUS MODEL WAS BURNING OIL AND DAMAGED THE MOTOR.

ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE TRANSIMISSION. AFTER 3 DEALERSHIP VISITS, PROBLEM WAS DUPLICATED AT BOB MAYBERRY HYUNDAI-MONROE, NC. WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND "FIX/PART" WAS COMING IN MARCH/APRIL 2020. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED. CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL FINALLY GOT FED UP WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I WENT TO OTHER DEALERSHIP (KEFFER HYUNDAI-CHARLOTTE, NC.). WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO REPLICATE BUT TECH COULD NOT. (REPAIR INVOICE STATES THEY DROVE THE CAR 1 MILE!) (THE DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN INTERMITENT PROBLEM). THE PROBLEM IS WHEN DRIVING VERY SLOW IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC, THE CAR JUMPS SIMILAR TO SOMEONE LEARNING TO DRIVE A STICK SHIFT AND HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH. I WAS AT A STOP SIGN ONE DAY...AT A COMPLETE STOP. I PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE CAR STOPPED ABOUT 3 FEET AFTER MOVING. HAD I PULLED OUT IF THERE WAS ALOT OF TRAFFIC, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TIME TO MOVE IN THE ROAD. I DO NOT HAVE ALL INVOICES FROM FIRST DEALERSHIP (BOB MAYBERRY HYUNDAI-MONROE,NC), BUT THEY WILL HAVE EVERYTHING IN THEIR SYSTEM. I CAN REQUEST THIS DOCUMENTATION IF NEEDED.

CAR CONSTANTLY HESITATES WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN YOU BEGIN TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE CAR HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE BEGINNING TO MOVE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING TURNS AT STOP LIGHTS OR IN INTERSECTIONS. GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR RUNS FINE AND ACCELERATES WITHOUT ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN AT SLOW SPEEDS OR AT A STOP AND YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE. ALSO, WHEN GOING SLOW OR SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP, THE CAR SEES LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO JERK AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO STALL. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT SLOW SPEEDS WITH SOME QUICK ON/OFF BREAKING, THE CAR HESITATES AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL.
THE TRANSMISSION SEVERELY LAGS IN THE INITIAL TRANSITION INTO FIRST GEAR, AS WELL AS FROM FIRST TO SECOND. WHEN INITIALLY ENGAGING INTO FIRST GEAR FROM REVERSE, THE CAR RUMBLES AND CHOPS INTO FIRST GEAR. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A DUAL CLUTCH CAR, IT SEVERELY LAGS INTO ACCELERATION, CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS BUT THEY HIDE BEHIND THE EXCUSE THAT THIS IS A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE ISSUE FIRST OCCURRED AT AROUND 500 MILES. IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE SINCE.

SO I PURCHASED MY CAR MARCH OF 2019. IT FIRST STARTED OFF REALLY GOOD BUT THAN A FEW MONTHS LATER THE CAR HAS BEEN HAVING A ISSUE WITH KEEPING OIL I HAD IT CHECKED NUMEROUS TIMES AND NO ONE SEEMS TO FIND THE ISSUE. I COULD LITERALLY GET OIL CHANGED AND WITHIN THREE FOUR WEEKS MY ENGINE IS EMPTY AND SOUND REALLY ROUGH. THE CAR STALLS AND MY RPM GOES UP OUT OF THE BLUE AS IF I HIT THE GAS. I'M EVEN HAVING A ISSUE WITH TAKE OFF FOR IT TO BE A BRAND NEW CAR MY CAR TAKE FOREVER TO PICK UP SPEED AND SOME TIMES IT ACT AS IF IT DON'T WANT TO MOVE.
THE ENGINE FEEL AS IF IT'S GOING TO TURN OFF WHEN COMING TO A BRAKE OR BRAKING SOFTLY AFTER THE CAR'S BEEN RUNNING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND NOONE FINDS WHATS WRONG WITH IT. NO CHECK ENGINE SIGNS SHOW OR REPAIR CODES SHOW WHEN CHECKED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT COULD.
ON SIX DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT WHILE REACHING SPEEDS OF UP TO 50MPH. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO BE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON 8/25/3020 IT STALLED AGAIN AND CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED. I AM TERRIFIED TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE ON PUBLIC ROAD WAYS NOW.

I PURCHASED MY 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON LIMITED 1.6L FORWARD DRIVE NEW IN NOVEMBER 2018. I STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS A FEW WEEKS AFTER MY PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE IS SLOW TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES AND OTHER TIMES THE VEHICLE LURCHES/ACCELERATES FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. FOR INSTANCE, I WAS AT A DRIVE THRU WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND MY TUCSON BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. I WAS SO AFRAID THAT I WAS GOING TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IT HAS LURCHED/ACCELERATED FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. OTHER TIMES WHEN I BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE JUST HESITATES TO MOVE AT ALL. IT IS VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE FOR A TURBO VEHICLE. CONCERNING MY BRAKES, MY BRAKES ARE MAKING A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING SOUND. I HAVE TAKEN MY TUCSON IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE BRAKE ISSUE, AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND THAT IS THE NOISE THAT TUCSON BRAKES MAKE. BRAKES DO NOT MAKE A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE FOR NO REASON AT ALL. ALSO, I TOOK MY TUCSON TO BE SERVICED FOR THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS SUV IS A DEATHTRAP. THE 2018 TUCSON 1.6L NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND THE ENGINE REPLACED WITH A 2.4L ENGINE AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED.

AS STATED IN MANY FORUMS BY MANY OWNERS,IN MY CASE THE 2.0 WITH AUTOMATIC. I HAVE A 2014 KIA SOUL AND THE 2018 TUSCON. BOTH VEHICLES ACT THE SAME,HESITATE WHEN THEY WANT TO. BOTH HAVE DONE THIS SINCE BRAND NEW AND NEITHER DEALERSHIP HAS MADE AN EFFORT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL VERY CLOSE CALLS HESITATING LIKE THIS IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC.ALSO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT ON 2018 TUCSON. *TR

HELLO EVERYONE, 2018 HYUNDAI TUSCON PROBLEM: ENGINE/AIR BAG CAUSE: UNKNOWN * AFTER A COLLISION WITH 2 LARGE DEER ON A MAIN HIGHWAY EARLY MORNING, IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO A SHOP. THE BODY WORK WAS FINISHED AND I HAD THE CAR BACK, UNFORTUNATELY AFTER THAT MY ENGINE WAS VERY VERY SLUGGISH. IRREGULAR SHIFTING, SLIGHT TICKING IN ENGINE BLOCK, NO LATER I HAD ISSUES WITH BATTERY LIGHT COMING ON ( THE CAR SHUT OFF) WHILE I'M MOTION ON MAIN ROAD. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IT'S A TOTAL LOSS, THIS 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES HAD A BLOWN ENGINE DUE TO UNKNOWN CAUSES. I NEED SOME EXPLAINING FROM SOMEONE WHY THIS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE OWNERS. *TR

I HAVE A 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON AND IT CUT OFF ON ME WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM OUT OF TOWN ON 4/5/2020 ON 495 CAPITAL BELTWAY. WHITE SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT THE TAILPIPE SO I PULLED OVER AND CUT THE TRUCK OFF, I TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER, ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS LIT UP, I HAD TO CALL AAA TO TOW ME HOME, THE TOW DRIVER NOTICED OIL UNDER THE TRUCK AND EVEN AFTER HE TOWED ME AND PUT MY TRUCK ON THE STREET THERE WAS OIL ON HIS FLATBED. THIS TRUCK HAS A DEFAULT WITH THE OIL PLUG OR SOMETHING, I KEEP UP ON MY OIL CHANGES EVERY 3 MONTHS, THERE WAS NO WARNING ON THE DASH ABOUT LOW OIL OR ANYTHING BEFORE IT STARTED SMOKING. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH HOW THIS TRUCK BURNS OIL AND IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. NOW I HAVE A TRUCK SITTING THAT I CAN;T DRIVE AND STILL HAVE TO PAY A CAR NOTE ON. *TR

SAME DUAL CLUTCH PROBLEM AS ON 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS PRIOR TO ENGAGING WHICH CAUSES SIGNIFICANT DANGER IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2016 AND HYUNDAI CONTINUED TO DENY ANY KNOWN PROBLEMS. NOW THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I TRADED MY 2016 IN FOR THE 2018 TO GET AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I WAS SO SCARED. NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NEW CAR. THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING. ALSO I WAS COASTING WITH FOOT NOT ON THE PEDAL AND NOT IN CRUISE CONTROL AND THE RPM'S SHOT UP TO 4200 THEN DOWN TO NORMAL, THEN BACK UP TO 2200 AND THEN BACK TO NORMAL. VERY SCARY. HAD CLUTCH ENGAGED CAR WOULD HAVE SHOT FORWARD INTO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. DEALER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED TROUBLE WITH BOTH PROBLEMS AND INFORMED ME THAT HYUNDAI HAS SWITCHED CLUTCH MANUFACTURERS.

I GET OIL CHANGES QUITE FREQUENTLY DUE TO THE MILEAGE I PUT IN A VEHICLE. I HAVE 7 OIL CHANGES/TIRE ROTATIONS BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2018 AND NOVEMBER 2019. ON NOVEMBER 13TH 2019 MY CHECK ENGINE LIKE CAME ON AND AT THE SAME TIME MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND. PRIOR TO THIS I HAD NO INDICATORS THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE I AM THE SECOND OWNER. AND THAT IT'S GOING TO COST ABOUT $10,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE WHICH INCLUDES LABOR. DID I MISS SOMETHING HERE. MY CAR IS MY LIVELIHOOD AND I HAVE GOTTEN EVERY REQUIRED MAINTENANCE. THEY SAID MY CAR IS BURNING THROUGH OIL AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THERE WERE ZERO SIGNS OF AN OIL LEAK AND EVERYTHING LOOKED FIND OTHER THAN THE VEHICLE HAD NO OIL. WHY DIDN'T MY VEHICLE ALERT ME OF THIS. WHY WASN'T THERE ANY INDICATION UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. WHERE THE HELL DID ALL THE OIL GO?? NOW I'M STUCK WITH A HIGH CAR PAYMENT FOR A VEHICLE I CAN NOT EVEN DRIVE PLUS BECAUSE I NEED MY CAR FOR MY WORK I HAD TO BE LET GO FROM MY JOB. CAN'T WORK WITHOUT A VEHICLE CAN PAY FOR $10,000 IN REPAIRS WITHOUT A JOB AND CAN'T PAY MY CAR PAYMENT WITHOUT WORKING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING HYUNDAI SUGGESTS AS FAR AS MAINTENCE (FREQUENT OIL CHANGES AND SYSTEMS CHECKS ON A REGULAR BASIS. HYUNDAI SAYS 'SORRY THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO FOR YOU, YOU HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.'.

THIS IS MY 2ND ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I HAVE ALWAYS NOTICED THAT WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP (AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN) AND I GO TO PRESS ON THE GAS THE CAR DOESN'T GO. IT'S LIKE IT HESITATED BEFORE IT STARTS TO PICK UP SPEED. I ALWAYS CHALKED IT UP TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS A 4 CYLINDER BUT AFTER SPEAKING TO MY MECHANIC I FIND OUT THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND CAN BE THE SIGN OF A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX FOR THIS.

THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE MY OIL LAMP LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, AFTER I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT I ACCELERATED THEN MY ALTERNATOR LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR DIED. WITHIN SECONDS MY CAR STARTED SMOKING A WHITE COLOR LIGHTLY AND THEN WITHIN MINUTES THE SMOKE TURNED BLACK AND HEAVY THEN CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE.

MY CAR HAS 20,000 MILES ON IT. 2 MONTHS AGO AROUND 18,000 MILES MY CAR STARTED TO HESITATE DURING ACCELERATION. IT STARTED AS ONLY SOMETIMES. NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT . WHEN IT IS STOPPED AND I PUSH ON THE GAS TO GO IT HESITATES. THE RPMS SHOOT UP TO 5-6 THEN IT GOES. THIS IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CROSSING SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC. ALSO WHEN IN MOTION AND YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE IT WILL HESITATE AS WELL. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AS IT'S UNDER WARRANT AND WAS TOLD IT'S THE DCT AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED. AND IT'S NORMAL. I DISAGREE BECAUSE IF IT WAS NORMAL THEN IT WOULD HAVE DONE THIS WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR.
Mileage: 18,000
HYUNDAI 2018 HAD A OIL LEAK ISSUE DUE TO A FAULTY OIL PAN. THE OIL PAN WAS SEALED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS DID NOT SEEM TO FIX THE ISSUE CAUSING THE OIL TO DRAIN ON THE FREEWAY AND SEIZE THE ENGINE. I WAS COASTING ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO POWER FROM THE ENGINE. WE WERE SCARED FOR OUR DEAR LIVES.

AT TIMES, WHILE DRIVING WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE HESITATES TO ACCELERATE AFTER BEING STOPPED, AS AT A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WILL START THE VEHICLE MOVING FORWARD 'VERY' SLOWLY FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS, THEN IT WILL TAKE OFF WITH FULL POWER UNTIL ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS LET OFF. WHEN THIS HESITATION OCCURS, THE ENGINE DOES NOT SOUND OR FEEL LIKE IT IS STRAINING, OR MISFIRING AT ALL, IT SEEMS MORE LIKE THE COMPUTER IS NOT SENDING THE ENGINE THE SIGNAL TO REV UP AND GO, HENCE HAVING TO FLOOR IT TO GET IT TO MOVE. THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, TO THE POINT I AVOID HAVING TO MAKE LEFT TURNS AT TRAFFIC LIGHT INTERSECTIONS, BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO EXHIBIT THIS BEHAVIOR, BUT THIS CAN HAPPEN WHETHER GOING STRAIGHT, OR MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 1,253 MILES AT PRESENT, BUT THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE IT WAS DRIVEN OFF THE LOT NEW.
AFTER ACQUIRING A LITTLE OVER A MONTH (1167 MILES ON IT) THIS CAR FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND HAD TO NAVIGATE OVER 4 LANES FROM JUST MOMENTUM - COULD NOT USE MY CELLPHONE AS IT WAS TRYING TO SYNC TO THE CAR WHICH WAS NOW COMPLETELY DEAD. TOWED TO PURCHASING DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS BAD GROUND WIRE. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN, MY PASSENGER AND I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR WORSE.

DELAYED ACCELERATION FROM STOP. VERY UNSAFE WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AS IT WILL TAKE UP TO 10 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN BUT NOT ALWAYS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
