My car on the expressway wouldn't go over 40 and this was happening intermittently so my car was unsafe. No check engine light but it was just at the dealership for an oil change. Has. been an ongoing problem since I bought the car! Smells, gets hot!
Over the past nine months, I’ve been experiencing ongoing issues with my 2018 Hyundai Tucson engine and transmission. After four consumption tests and a flush confirming that the engine is burning between 0.8 and 0.3 liters of oil for every 1,000, I was informed Hyundai refuses to either repair the issue or conduct testing to determine the cause. The timeline is summarized below: •February 2025 – I was told by [XXX] my vehicle simply did not have enough oil after the last oil change; •March 2025 – I was informed an initial consumption test needed to be completed; •May 2025 – a second consumption test revealed the engine was burning more than 1 liter per 1000 and a flush was completed; •July 2025 – a third consumption test was completed, revealing that while the engine was excessively burning oil, it was not currently at 1 liter per 1000 based on that test; August 2025 – the oil light came on & I was instructed to put a liter of oil into my vehicle to make it to the certified dealer for next steps. The next steps were another consumption test. Unfortunately, because I was told to add oil to make it to the dealership, I was then informed that this added oil would alter the testing, and we had to start over. •September 2025 – I am now awaiting the results of the fourth consumption test. I have receipts for every 6 months or 7,500 of service since purchasing the vehicle., Despite the engine and transmission being under warranty, the dealership has refused to conduct testing to determine the cause of the issue or remedy the excessive consumption. I was driving on the highway, about to change lanes, when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw black smoke coming from my appeared to be my exhaust. I immediately started to pull over, and that is when the oil light first appeared on my dashboard. By the time I had put the car in park, the check engine light had also appeared. After calling my boyfriend and a tow truck, I exited the vehicle and noticed a large pool of oil by my front tire. With the car on the tow truck, I could see oil continue to drip out. The car was towed to the local Hyundai dealership. Since this occurred on a Saturday afternoon, the service dept. was closed, and Hyundai called me on Monday, Aug 11, 2025 to explain that i should contact the auto mechanic that last changed my oil, as the oil plug had fallen out, and my engine had seized. (Had I not noticed the smoke right away, I could have been in an accident on the highway when the engine seized.) I explained to Hyundai that I had my oil changed 3,000 miles ago, and hadn't seen any indication of oil leakage, nor had the oil light come on prior to the incident on Aug 9, 2025. Hyundai insited I contact the oil change mechanics as it was clearly a craftsmanship defect, not the fault of Hyundai parts or material. Hyundai provided photos showing the oil plug was still laying on the block. I visited Superior Auto (mechanics that did the previous oil change) and they also deny responsibility due to the fact that the car drove fine for 3,000 miles without any indication of oil leakage, so there is no proof of fault craftsmanship.
29 days after I bought a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle started making a ticking noise and stopped accelerating. I called the dealership and they said we didn't get a warranty. I said no that isn't correct, no warranty was offered and after seeing ALL the known engine problems I understand why ken ganley in medina wouldn't offer one. Now not even a month into having this vehicle, I have a brand new 5 year loan and a vehicle that won't move until I put a new engine in it and the dealership won't do anything for me. This is the worst experience I have ever had purchasing a vehicle
My 2018 Hyundai Tucson 2.0L GDI engine with only 79,000 miles was "knocking" and wouldn't accelerate. We pulled over and towed the vehicle to the local Hyundai Dealer who declared "oil level good but failed bearing clearance test". Diagnosed with a rod and bearing failure. They submitted to Hyundai Motor Warranty the vehicle needed new engine. They declined. I know this is covered under the Hyundai Engine 2 Class action lawsuit with the extended 15 year/150,000 mile warranty as a result of the catastrophic engine failures. I have all oil change service records for every 5,000-6,000 miles while I was the second owner, as well as, have obtained another from the dealer who bought it from a rental/lease company starting at 14,000 miles. Hyundai Corporate is claiming "exceptional maintenance neglect" because of one missing oil change record from the rental company that I may not be able to obtain as the paper trail for the rental car company only states first owner was rental/fleet
Won’t shift so that I can gain speed
On April 12, 2025, my 2018 Hyundai Tuson which only has 99,000 miles started stalling out at random speeds. The vehicle stalled going up a hill and would not accelerate it would also not go past 55-60 miles per hour on the highway. There were no check engine lights or codes on the dashboard. The vehicle is also burning oil on 2 occasions when having the oil changed. I feel like my life and others is in danger because the vehicle is stalling at random speeds which could cause a major accident due to this issue. I could be hit by another vehicle while trying to accelerate or merge on the highway. I reported the oil consumption last November and I contacted Hyundai customer care who issued a case number in May 2025 for the stalling issue, they instructed me to take it to the Hyundai dealership to be diagnosed. There is a recall out, but they said my vehicle is not included in it. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they confirmed the vehicle was stalling and would not accelerate and were able to reproduce the issue. They informed me the vehicle needed a new transmission, and the vehicle only has 99,000 miles. Hyundai and the dealership declined to add the vehicle to the recall campaign for stalling vehicles. I had to cover the cost of $3,000 for a new transmission. I picked the vehicle up on June 6,2025 with the new transmission installed and it is still stalling and won't accelerate past 45 miles per hour.
While starting and accelerating my 2018 Hyundai Tucson, I began hearing abnormal engine knocking and noticed rough performance. I took the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership, where they diagnosed an internal engine defect. They confirmed the engine issue but refused to cover the repair, citing that I’m not the original owner—despite public information stating that Hyundai’s extended engine defect warranty (related to known bearing failures) applies to all owners for up to 15 years/150,000 miles. This creates a major safety concern, as I drive long distances on highways daily and fear the engine may seize or fail at high speeds. The vehicle remains at the dealership and is currently undrivable. I’ve submitted proper maintenance records, and the issue has been escalated through Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. This appears to be a widely reported engine defect that Hyundai is not consistently addressing. The lack of coverage and delay in resolution places drivers at unnecessary risk.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil with the oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer to be inspected and two oil consumption tests were performed by the dealer. The oil consumption tests showed no defects with the engine. The dealer performed an engine flush; however, the failure persisted. The contact was advised to have oil changes performed every 3,000 miles instead of the recommended 5,000 miles. The contact stated that recently, after having an oil change, the dealer recommended a transmission fluid flush. The contact stated that after the transmission fluid flush was performed, the vehicle jerked and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the contact was provided an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

In late September of ‘24 my husband was driving our oldest to school when my 2018 Hyundai tuscon seized mid drive with our son in the back seat with no oil or engine light warning. Husband inspected the oil and I was still full. A Hyundai dealer towed at their expense in October, diagnosed an engine failure. Denied me service since my extended warranty expired and I didn’t have the KSDS update. I wish they would as I still owe on the vehicle and I’m out of work. Making this complaint is to only spread awareness that 2017 Tucson with the 2.0 L engine had an engine failure connecting to rod bearings. My 2018 has the same engine type and failure as the 2017. Hyundai Corp fails to recognize the problem. My 2018 didn’t fail due to lack of oil changes as I can I prove that. My 2018 failed on Hyundai’s fault. Now my car sits at the dealership in Anchorage, Alaska and I still owe 9k and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. 360 miles away from me.
Me my wife and our dogs were driving from California to Las Vegas when we experience loss of power in the engine we managed to Coast downhill to State Line Nevada and got to the off ramp and then had to push the car to the nearest gas station it was towed the next day to Centennial Hyundai in Las Vegas, case # [XXX] this happened while on vacation just before Christmas they were not able to look at it till after Christmas but they found that one of the valves had broken and was sitting on top of the piston we were told that the engine the turbo the exhaust and the catalytic would all have to be replaced also later they discovered a leak in the transmission on the Dual clutch which also needed replacing we were just told that they have finished the work and we would be responsible for about $5,300 worth of the work I have all maintenance records on this vehicle it had all scheduled maintenance done at the dealership including oil changes and any other repairs that or needed including engine cleaning once the car reached about 100,000 MI it started consuming about a quart of oil every oil change I'm [XXX] old and have had many new and used cars and have never ever had an engine failure happen at such a low mileage when this occurred the car had approximately 122,000 miles on it I have a claim with Hyundai customer care, case # [XXX] and they have not been very cooperative they don't seem to be able to contact the dealership to get any kind of resolution for the costs that I don't feel are my responsibility this is unbelievable I will never recommend anybody by a Hyundai or a Kia I will tell them buy a Honda or a Toyota not a Hyundai or a Kia they have horrible engines and Transmissions it should not be failing at less than 100,000 miles or before the car is even paid off unbelievable don't know how we're going to cover the cost the dealership wants to get our car back I guess they'll just have to keep it for a while. car would not speed up no matter how hard i pressed accelerator, vehicle wouldn't speed up kept going at slower speed had to have towed to dealership. Don't know what is wrong. I was scared someone would hit me, or my speed would cause an accident. Only after issue started did engine light come on.
In May 2024 my Hyundai Tucson died in a middle of an intersection with no warning. Worse than that is Hyundai motor USA informed me that the car was on a recall list for an engine failure issue that was apart of class action suit . Ans further told me that that were obligated to have the highway transportation safety dept notified first consider cause of the issue. They told an inspector from your department was required to inspect vehicle before repairs could be started and or returned fo me. That has not happened and they are using your office as the reason for delay on my vehicle. They have systematically m supplied the same answer to my case with no resolution. I have done everything I can as a consumer to handle my case and believed that they were going through the correct process but the dealer has informed me their own manufacturer and corporate is not following guidelines and handling recalls. This is soo dangerous as this vehicle was Already on a list for recall repair and they did NOT inform me the customer when it was brought in for repairs before this incident.

End of April/beginning of may, driving down highway check engine light flashing loud knocking and loss of power. Got it towed by AAA. Wasnt able to make appt until May 9th. Got it towed to the Hyundai dealership. Got phone call that is filed the bearing test and need a total engine replacement. Was told by the dealership that it could take 3 months or more to get an engine in and get it replaced. They have no loaners, and hyundai expeacts me to pay out of pocket for a rental for work to keep my job as well as my independent contracting job accounting/taxes. I have to have a vehicle. A rental is easily 1200+ a month. Hyundai refuses to give me a trade in value for my vehicle until the new engine is in. Hyundai also refunded to reimbursement me for a rental until all work is completed and a work order is in hand ( which can be many many months) I dont have money to pay 1200+ a month for a rental and also pay by car payment every month for a vehicle that is stuck at the dealership undrivable because Hyundai installed faulty bad engines. I am stuck and all Hyundai can tell me is that it takes months for the engines. Purchased the vehicle in Feb 2022 and have perfect maintance records, service records and everything else for upkeep. Still owe 15545 on the vehicle and its undrivable. So im paying a car payment on a vehicle that Hyundai made undrivable
My vehicle had been in the shop for 30 day due to engine shutdown in the middle of the road, I barely was able to get vehicle off the road and avoid oncoming traffic. I got my vehicle back and driven it a total of 40 minutes within a 3 day time period. During my drive to work my vehicle shut off in the middle of the highway and would not turn on again. My concerns are not being taken seriously with Hyundai and it is a disaster waiting to happen. I have a one year old daughter and I can not risk her safety as well as the other on-coming people on the road when it quits and oncoming traffic has to swerve to not T-bone me. Hyundai will not take any action to correct this other than giving it a temporary fix of a 45 minute drive before they allow me to get back on the road and put myself and others at risk of injury.
ABS SENSOR, downhill light, traction control light stays on. In August 2023 the transmission had to be rebuilt from slipping. After work there is still transmission slipping. Media display goes blank often and will not show all of display sometimes.
While on the highway going 70mph the check engine light flashed on the immediately off out of nowhere and car started aggressively shaking before loosing temporary power. My wife and toddler were in the car and we were all pretty shaken up. Luckily I was able to gain control of the car but I'm concerned that another issue may occur. I immediately took my car in to the shop and they were unable to replicate the issue. Spark plugs, oil, transmission fluid and coolant fluids were all as regular maintenance but no real issue was addressed. My car has also had issues with struggling to accelerate from stop, causing jerking motion and my oil seems to be burning faster than usual.
It started [XXX] when i took my car to the dealership due to it going into limp mode. The dealership took it in and said it was throwing error code p1326 which is the knock sensor code. they replaced the knock sensor, drove my tucson home after the replacement, by the time i got home it went into limp mode again, took my car back to the dealership turns out it was a faulty sensor they received. So the dealership replaced the sensor again, did not have an issue with it until decemember 2023, so i took it to get the error code read again and it was the p1326, so i make an appointment with the dealership to bring it back in and they said hyundai of america says it needed the combustion chamber cleaning, which i had to pay for. even though it was throwing the p1326 error code. but after the cleaning is done i pick it back up and not even ten miles from the dealership my car goes back into limp mode, so i turn around and take it back. they just got back to me on [XXX] saying hyundia of america is declining to replace my engine since its no longer under warranty. Check engine light stayed on vehicle transmission unable to shift in reverse and lower power when car is driven in a low speed.
issues with the 2018 Tucson- Transmission has always sputtered, had numerous updates and resets for it. still an issue. also it doesn't want to go into gear sometimes and bob when going into drive, or reverse. slow pick up from a complete stop, the other morning it became a safety concern when I had my daughter in the car. The car start to move when I stepped on the gas, then stopped in the middle of the intersection of [XXX] four way. The RPM's as I was stepping on the gas was shifting between 5-7 and the car it wasn't moving. Engine- in September I noticed my oil pressure light flashing on and off, this pointed me to check the oil. the oil was very low, added oil to the vehicle. since then I have had the dealer involved due to high oil burning . in [XX] I had an oil change done and no oil was found in the engine after I had placed oil in it prior. they did the oil change and I went back at the end of October and they had noticed my oil burnt off again. they did the combustion cleaning and returned the vehicle back to me [XXX]. Since then I drove 950 miles on the vehicle, Last Saturday the oil pressure light was flashing as I took my daughter to her dance class, I checked the oil and the oil was reading below the low mark on the dipstick. I returned to the dealer that morning for the oil consumption test, in which they said it was only a quart low which seemed odd to me since it was low on the dipstick. I have had corporate involved as well and all my concerns have gone as this is normal for your car. Hyundai has had issues with my Year Tucson, from my research since I started having the issues they have settled a lawsuit for the problems with the engine and transmission which I have in it.my research, as the vehicle ages, the engine burns large amounts of oil and transmission failure, stopping while driving. I would like them to replace the engine and transmission before my warranty is up. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving home from a family get together with my husband and daughter in my car. We smelled something burning, and suddenly smoke was coming out of my center console. I pulled over and flames were coming out of the driver side. As soon as we evacuated the vehicle, it burst into flames. There was no warning, nothing lit up on the dashboard to warn me of this hazard. A witness was driving behind us and called 911 when he noticed flames underneath my vehicle right before I pulled over. A police report was filed and it was reported to my insurance agent, it is currently still under investigation since it just happened 2 days ago during a Holiday weekend. My safety and my family's safety was put at risk due to no warning, how fast the vehicle went up in flames, etc. The car was a total loss.
The engine has failed in my 2018 Hyundai Tuscon. I was driving the car daily since purchasing in July of 2023. Everything was fine until the first week of October, I had just picked up my son and was getting on the interstate when my check engine light came on and my oil light would flash on and off occasionally not persistently. I had the car checked immediately and there was no oil in the car at all. I added oil to the car, but it was too late the engine had already blown. I drove my son to school the next morning and the car sounded like a lawn mower and was knocking continuously. The dealership has the car now and this is a known problem with this model car. The car could've locked up while I was on the interstate with my child and we or others could have been severely hurt in an accident or car fire if the engine caught fire. The dealership is not offering to remedy the situation even knowing this is a known problem for their cars. There is already a recall for most of these cars but for my engine the cut off stops at year 2017, I think this should be reconsidered and 2018 should also be included in the recall as I have read many testimonials regarding people having the same problem I had, there was no indication anything was wrong with the oil or engine until it was too late.
As I was pulling out of a bank driveway onto a busy access road my car just died. Lost all power. NO warning bells, no lights on the dash, no warning at all. This could have potentially caused an accident. I could have been hit by another vehicle as my car was dead. Pushed it out of the way of traffic, checked oil and there was none. Ended up having it towed to the dealership. The dealership told me that my engine had failed and would need to be replaced due to cylinder 3 rod bearing failure due to oil consumption (a known problem from this manufacturer).
CVT Transmission failed under 70,000 miles. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk due to no warning light or indication of this failure from Dick Smith Hyundai in Greenville, SC during a routine maintenance check. The problem has been confirmed by Dick Smith Service Center. The vehicle has been inspected by Dick Smith Hyundai. There were no warning lamps prior to failure. The characteristics of the CVT appeared in 2018 however; the jerking accelerated over time. Dick Smith Service Center stated not to worry the transmission was okay. October 16, 2023 with less than 70k miles I’m being told I need transmission, starter, & fly wheel.
When I accelerate from a stop sign or yield it Jerks and hesitates to accelerate. I have to release the gas and push again sometimes doing this multiple times when this happens daily. I've taken it to Hyundi shops and they say it's a normal chararistic if a Tuscan. It also uses an excessive amount of oil. I am told this is because of the engine. If I go change my oil right at every 3k miles my oil level is well below the minimum line so I have been changing it every 1500 miles.
Transmission is jerking when driving. Brakes are squeaking.
This very low mileage vehicle recently had the same incident for I believe the fifth time since I've owned the car. In a very dangerous situation the car exibited the car going almost dead after normal acceleration. It regains power after 3-5 seconds and rapidly returning to acceleration. It happened to my wife soon after purchase and she has refused to drive it since. Last week while I attempted to make a left turn at a yellow light it again went dead and traffic was forced to slow while the car behind me almost rea ended me. Recently the engine seems to run rough at times. Never have I seen any engine trouble lights since I've owned it. Three separate Hyundai dealers have looked at and seemed to be aware of what's causing it, but chose their words carefully. My neighbor owns one of the largest new cars dealerships in the Midwest. I spoke with him about this problem and he said his used car manager would NEVER purchase one with this engine/transmission for resale! A Hyundai service manager told me to get rid of it soon. When told I was planning on gifting it to my daughter, he said he wouldn't... The car only has 33,000 miles and looks new. Always garaged, never driven in snow.
Immediately after purchasing the car I stopped for gas. When pulling out of the parking lot and onto the road, the transmission stalled. The car did not move, the rpms jumped to 5-6 and the lurched and jerked forward then stopped and lurched forward again with the rpms jumping high. This had happened numerous times to various deplgrees since purchasing the car 48 hours ago. There were and continue to be no warning lamps or messages on the dash. I have an appointment with the dealer to have it assessed in a week. This is dangerous because it causes the vehicle to not pull into or cross traffic in a smooth, sage and predictable manner, potentially causing a collision.
Back in January of 2023, car would not go into reverse. While out driving the engine light came on and went into safety mode. I had no power to merge onto highway and make it up hills to get to Hyundai service repair. They said the gear actuator failed. They repaired, but within a week the car was not going into reverse and engine light came back on. They had my car for over a month with no loaner car. They replaced transmission. Car only had 32,000 miles on it. Yesterday, July 28, car started losing power in traffic. Sometimes car would lurch. Engine light on so I pulled into grocery store parking lot. Turned car off and when I turned back on a loud clunking noise. Called Hyundai and drove to service. The entire time the car struggled to merge or go up hills. They ran test and said the gear actuator failed. So this is a trend. It is under warranty but that is not the point, this is dangerous and you can get stranded or the car can lurch or loose power at any time. I complained to Hyundai the first time and they did nothing except repair under warranty guidelines.
The car has acceleration issues and when you try to press down on the gas it sputters and loses power, it is becoming a safety hazard when driving 45 mph or higher. If you try to pass another vehicle it slows down and almost stops, we have had to pull to the side of the road to avoid being in an accident. This is NOT normal for a vehicle to do this and something needs to be done before we end up dead.
Tucson 2.0L hesitation at acceleration particularly from a rolling stop: This intermittent problem was checked initially by Marhofer Hyundai in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, their findings were negative. We then took it to Great Lakes Hyundai in Streetsboro and they said they were aware of the problem and reset the computer, but it did not resolve the problem. This problem has put my family in harm's way many times, making a turn from a rolling stop the car lags into ongoing traffic. Our last visit to dealership we were told car was out of warranty 19,000 miles but the problem was never fixed. This vehicle was a certified pre-owned and have an extended warranty. I have attached a technical service bulletin.
i received a letter in the mail stating the nock sensor has been replaced i dont know howlong ago but my 2018 tucan is stuck in false sage mode saying the nock senor was bad! if it is a on going issue and there is has been a recall on the part why does it show no recalls for my mode car?
I have only owned the car for 1 month. I had gotten an oil/filter change and a new oil pressure sensor at ~80,100 miles. I had requested the oil sensor be changed because it would flicker on and off when the car was idling/low RPMs once it had heated up fully. This had fixed that issue seemingly. At ~80,700 miles the car had started riding a bit "rough", especially at higher speeds, so I decided to have a look under the hood. I was terrified to see that my dipstick was bone dry. There was never any evidence of any noticeable leak underneath the car on the driveway nor any evidence of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. After some research (Hyundai corporate was telling me over the phone multiple times that there was no known issues with my specific car/engine) I was appalled to see I was essentially lied to. I found multiple official TSBs, NHTSA notices, and hundreds if not thousands of other customers noting the exact same experience. I had tried to take it to Hyundai for the oil consumption tests laid out in multiple TSBs but I was denied "due to the original warranty expiring". To my knowledge this exact issue has caused Hyundai and Kia to extend to 150k miles for all owners. This is my only mode of transportation and I am so worried my car will stall/seize/catch fire on the highway. This is beyond unsafe and unacceptable but I assume I may have to wait until the final litigation hearing in September for official recalls to be issued. If my car makes it that long.
Purchaseing the vehicle two months ago, the engine service light started blinking. Taking the vehicle to several shops including two hyundai dealers, I was informed the vehicle had an off market catalytic converter. I asked the dealership several times if there was any issues with the vehicle and they stated there was not. The engine first came on two weeks after the purchase of the vehicle. It is not safe to drive. The warranty nor the dealership will cover or assist.
Acceleration issue, from a stop position on a red light or stop sign, when the gas pedal is pressed the engine revs but does not move immediately, after a couple of seconds it lundges forward, also when trying to merge you must wait for a very big gap to safely merge, the car does not respond and this is very dangerous, Hyundai need to rectify this issue before someone dies.
When driving at night and low-beams are on, there is a black void (looks like a black bar horizontally across the headlight projected area on roadway). Black void is eye level with driver’s view of the roadway. With the black void present, driver is unable to see the roadway clearly at night, which inhibits the drivers visibility and ability to see road hazards or animals crossing the road. Low-beam and high-beam bulbs have been replaced and checked for any burn spots or malfunction in the bulb itself; with brand new bulbs installed professionally, the black void is still present. Hyundai repair stated it is a known issue that has yet to be addressed by Hyundai Manufacturers. Issue has been present for 2-months now. While driving on interstate, went to pass a vehicle and while accelerating the vehicle would not increase in speed. The RPM needle jumped to 5-6 and a “whiny” noise was coming from engine area. Pressed harder on the accelerator so the car would speed up and with the pedal to the floor, the vehicle speed increased 1 mph in 5-sec intervals. Exited the interstate and was traveling on road with 60mph speed limit. Tried to accelerate again, and the vehicle would make the whiny noise and would not increase speed or shift. Let off of the accelerator and the RPM drops instantly to 2-3. RPM’s need does not smoothly increase or decrease, but instead jumps or drops instantly. When accelerator is pressed or when trying to increase speed, the whiny noise comes from engine. The vehicle sounds and acts like it is not shifting. Took to dealership and they said there are no recalls on transmission, but will not fix my transmission. 10-year/100000 mile warranty is still active, as it is a 2018 w/ 89500 miles. Safety concern as the vehicle will not accelerate or shift when needed and could cause serious accident if in a situation where evasive action is required.
Leaving a parking lot, vehicle was hard-shifting at 10mph, 20mph, 30mph and was not gaining typical acceleration. Every slow down or stop sign/stop light this behavior continued with automatic hard shifting between gears and lethargic acceleration to the point where I felt this may cause an accident or cause another vehicle to have an accident due to lag response of my vehicle. Upon home arrival, I attempted to back vehicle into my parking spot but after shifting into Reverse, the R indicator on console was flashing but vehicle would not move. I drove back around the complex parking circle and again attempted to back vehicle in to a different parking space but experienced the same issue where R indicator was flashing but vehicle would not back up. My daughter and 2 grandsons then had to push my vehicle back in to the parking spot. I turned vehicle off, waited approximately 90 seconds and restarted the engine. When I shifted into Reverse gear, the car abruptly and harshly shut down. At that point, I put the vehicle back into Park gear and turned off ignition. Had the vehicle towed to closest dealership on Nov 28th - they have not been able to replicate issue nor find any fault codes when running diagnostics. No dashboard errors appeared, only the flashing Reverse indicator light on shift console. No prior issues earlier in the day when using vehicle, nor has this issue occurred in the 4 years I have owned it. It was severe enough I wasn't sure the vehicle would clear intersections in a timely manner, and worried it may leave myself and my daughter and grandsons stranded on the 20 minute ride to home.
Vehicle stalls when accelerating at low speeds. It appears to be a delay when the car transitions from 1st to 2nd gear. This creates a safety concern, especially when taking turns into traffic due to delays/stalls when turning.
I’ve been having an issue with the car “jerking rapidly” when in traffic and rolling slowly and when climbing relatively small hills, it began about 2 months ago but have become progressively worse over the last month. I was told by someone with a similar vehicle that it is the “lower arm control. Need help with is or if there is a recall
While driving my car normally 9 dashboard lights came on suddenly including the check engine, ABS, brakes while at the same time the dials on the dashboard including the rpms, speedometer, oil temperature and more all stopped working. This happened suddenly while the car was in drive and also caused issues with the transmission as the car stopped shifting gears properly and was driving very rough. With this sudden onset of many different issues out of nowhere driving the vehicle was very dangerous when trying to get to a safe location. After parking this electrical issue would not allow me to take the car out of park or use a OBD reader do to the electrical issue. After researching this problem I found several reports online describing nearly identical symptoms all of the sudden resulting in the car being undrivable and in a dangerous state. These owners said they took the cars to the dealer who tried replacing several components without fixing the issue with hours of diagnosis charges. Eventually after having the vehicles for several days they replaced the reverse camera which it turns out was shorting a significant amount of other critical car electrical components. With no prior damage to the camera or these electrical components the abrupt and random onset of this issue pose a significant safety risk to Hyundai Tucson drivers (at least in 2016 -2018 models) . My experience with the Hyundai Dealership was very similar to them even after I had diagnosed the issue to the camera the dealer said they had contacted the manufacturing engineers who took several days to determine what was causing these electrical issues. This is not an isolated issue as multiple hyundai tucson owners have reported this to Hyundai and their dealerships yet they fail to recognize the risks associated with the faulty cameras they install in their factories. They need to recall their vehicles prone to having this issue. This has cost me $1000 to fix and put me at risk on the road
While driving the vehicle, while accelerating the vehicle would lose power or disengage from gas pedal at 17 mph and then again at 26 mph. After about 3 miles the check engine light came on and a TCM warning appeared on the radio screen. Immediately took the car to the dealership and was turned away since I didn’t have an appointment. On my way home from the dealership I made a stop at a store. I reversed out of the parking spot with no issues. When I put the vehicle in drive, it would not accelerate. I could drive in reverse but not forward. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. Diagnostics revealed it was a failed TCM. Further research revealed this same issue occurred in 2016 models. How was this not fixed or prevented in later models?
Powertrain issue. Multiple times the after stopping the engine revs for a few seconds and then the vehicle will lurch forward. It acts like the CVT transmission has a delayed response to the accelerator. The condition comes and goes and sometimes it happens multiple times in the same trip.
Car has no power when accelerating, when accelerating from a stop the car revs but does not move, then when it does move it takes off like a rocket, in slow moving traffic 5 mph, you accelerate and the car seems like it wants to stall, a lot of hesitation, In fast moving traffic, if you want to merge or pass another vehicle you must give yourself ample time and make sure it is clear to make your move, if you need to get out of the way really fast you cant, its very dangerous and Hyundai needs to move quick on this before something really bad happens to someone.
my 2018 Hyundai Tucson starting having lurching issues on when first started. i have to back into my driveway so i dont have to go in reverse then go forward. it jerks back and forth so hard. It finally took its toll on the transfer case and it exploded internally. the Dealership said they had never seen this before. i was hoping that was the cause of the issue but it wasnt. Still doing it and am afraid it will do it again. i was under warranty when it happened, so teh $2000 replair was covered. i'm concerned it will happen again. teh problem goes away after it's been completely warmed up. but like many others, its a scary issue when first started. it also will also shift hard when it firsts get's going (after the initial hard lurching back and forth). i dont know what to do. Love the car otherwise, but concerned with ever buying a Hyundai again.
very bad acceleration from a stop position, engine revs but does not move, in slow traffic it hesitates and lunges forward like it’s not sure what it’s suppose to do, when trying to merge or pass another car, you have to give yourself time, it’s very dangerous, took it to the dealer 2 times, was told that’s how the car is made, there is no way this is suppose to be the way the car was built. also a smell of antifreeze but no leaks detected,
When merging into traffic, the car lost all acceleration and the transmission revved to a very high rpm. This has been an ongoing problem since the car was purchased. The dealer keeps saying they “cannot replicate”. This car is going to kill me.
Rod bearing failure. Sounded like a tractor all of a sudden and stalled every time I’d come to a stop. Had it towed to the dealership. Awaiting word from Hyundai as to whether the warranty will cover this. Checked oil and wasn’t low. No check engine lights or oil lights or anything ever came on. No noises prior to this happening. Kept up on routine maintenance.
The vehicle almost stalls and doesn't want to take off 1st thing in the morning then suddenly it accelerates abruptly well above the amount of pedal pushed. It also has inconsistent shifts at anytime during a drive. Sometimes it won't shift until we leave off the gas. This has been twice in for diagnosis at Rom Marhofer in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221. Both times they tell us--they could not get the vehicle to produce the symptoms. It does this everyday of the week for us--everyday. The service writer says this is common for the dual clutch transmission. This is a safety issue with not having power to move then suddenly--wham.
About 6 months of owning this vehicle, I started noticing while sitting in traffic that when letting off of the brake the car would start to jerk as you gave it a little throttle. I took the car to the Hyundai in Glendora where I purchased the vehicle from and they stated that there was nothing wrong with it. The issue continues to this day and I have voiced the complaint each time I bring the Vehicle in for maintenance. One of the service techs said that they felt the hesitation with the transmission but said that it was not bad enough to fix per Hyundai policy. This car is equipped with the Dual Clutch Transmisson because of the turbo. I have been dealing with this problem now for about 2 1/2 years and I feel that it is a safety issue being that the jerkiness and the hesitation could cause a crash. I actually talked to someone at another dealership and he told me that there was a Class Action Suit for this problem and to go that route. I just want Hyundai to own up to the problem and fix the issue.
Hyundai has historically had an issue with the dual-clutch transmission and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle frequently shutters / shakes at a stop and when accelerating from a stop. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally loses power to the wheels when driving-up a moderately steep grade. Additionally, the vehicle has delayed acceleration when trying to increase speed from a constant speed. This has put my safety and the safety of others at risk by being unable to properly accelerate into a turn while driving at highway speed, by being unable to keep up with the speed of traffic while driving on the interstate in the mountains, by being unable to drive in adverse weather, and by not being able to account for the jolting of the vehicle in busy city traffic. I've taken it to two manufacturer dealerships who have ran a shutter test and could not generate an error message, but acknowledged the effects felt when driving the vehicle and the commonality of the problem. They said their hands are tied if the manufacturer's testing generates a pass result. There have not been any warning lamps or messages. To date, I have been unable to come to a resolution, but the vehicle is dangerous to drive.
My 2018 Hyundai Tuscon has been having major issues with the dual clutch transmission, which has put myself, my family, and others in very dangerous situations. Everyday when I start my Tuscon and accelerate, it stutters/jerks like it’s going to stall and will not accelerate/shift. It eventually starts going, but I have to pull out onto a street, which has been unsafe when cars are speeding up behind me. It does not go up hills well at all. I turned onto a road where there was a decent sized hill, but nothing major, and nothing an SUV should have a problem with. My previous CAR could drive it just fine. You’d think an SUV could as well. Nope. Very scary moment. My Tuscon made it not even half way, and just stopped. I was pressing the gas, and it just revved it up with no motion. I braked and tried it again, and it still would not go. I had to roll backwards down the hill. This was the only way to my destination. I rolled down, and put it in sport mode to try that. It still would not go, and did the same thing. I tried again in regular mode, and it still would not go, only this time I had a car behind me. The car had to back down, and I rolled back a little bit, then hit the gas in drive and it eventually made it, but definitely very scary and unsafe, and it put others in danger as well. I was going to church one morning, and the speed limit on the main road is 60, which is what I was driving. I had to slow down to turn, and had to stop to oncoming traffic. I had to brake for maybe 10 seconds, and when I went to accelerate, it was like it wasn’t shifting, and it just revved up, rolled slightly, and would not go. At this point there are more cars coming. I am in the road right In their path due to it rolling, and once again I am put in a very scary situation. I kept trying, and it FINALLY went. This was also on flat level ground. I have had many moments (every day) where it does not shift properly, and it also stutters every single day when I start it. Please fix this
Vehicle has judder at slow speeds or hesitation in shifting gears. Has almost stalled while making a left turn at intersection into oncoming traffic or accelerating after stop sign . Dealer updated TCU ECM software, problem got worse. Appears to be a dual clutch transmission defect.
Car not shifting properly. Took to dealership and kept getting a response of the car have a dual clutch.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact called the manufacturer and the dealer and was informed that the Vin was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

My vehicle bucks when first pulling out. like a manual transmission.
WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD BOARD GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY INDICATING REAR BRAKE LIGHT NEEDS ATTENTION. WHEN WARNING LIGHT IS ON, BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. WHEN WARNING LIGHT TURNS OFF, BRAKE LIGHT WORKS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS ON AND CONSTANTLY AT RANDOM TIMES EVEN WHEN I'M STATIONARY. ALSO, WHEN I'M STOPPED, CAR TUGS LIKE IT WANTS TO ACCELERATE.

TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT PROPERLY. HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE AROUND 15K MILES PURCHASED VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES DEALER WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL AROUND 55K MILES REPLACED DUAL CLUTCH AND PROBLEM HAD COME BACK AFTER 5K MILES AND DEALER SAYS NOTHINGS WRONG... I FEEL UNSAFE IN A BRAND NEW CAR WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE... HELP
CAR WAS SLOWLY ENTERING GARAGE AND CAME TO A FULL STOP WITH BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED IN GEAR. CAR WITHOUT WARNING, ENGINE REVVED UP TO FULL POWER AND CRASHED IN GARAGE. I AM ALLEGING CONDITION KNOWN AS SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THE DAMAGE REPAIRED AND THE COST OF REPAIR WAS OVER $4,000.00. PICTURES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. HYUNDAI PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON VEHICLE UPON MY DEMAND TO DO SO. WHEN REPORT CAME IN, I WAS REFUSED A COPY OF EXACT REPORT BY INSPECTOR AND ONLY GIVEN A SUMMARY BY COMPANY AGENT. WHEN I ASKED FOR THE EXACT INSPECTOR REPORT TO BE READ TO ME OVER THE PHONE, THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED AS WELL.

CAR CONSTANTLY HESITATES WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN YOU BEGIN TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE CAR HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE BEGINNING TO MOVE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING TURNS AT STOP LIGHTS OR IN INTERSECTIONS. GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR RUNS FINE AND ACCELERATES WITHOUT ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN AT SLOW SPEEDS OR AT A STOP AND YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE. ALSO, WHEN GOING SLOW OR SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP, THE CAR SEES LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO JERK AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO STALL. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT SLOW SPEEDS WITH SOME QUICK ON/OFF BREAKING, THE CAR HESITATES AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL.
THE TRANSMISSION SEVERELY LAGS IN THE INITIAL TRANSITION INTO FIRST GEAR, AS WELL AS FROM FIRST TO SECOND. WHEN INITIALLY ENGAGING INTO FIRST GEAR FROM REVERSE, THE CAR RUMBLES AND CHOPS INTO FIRST GEAR. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A DUAL CLUTCH CAR, IT SEVERELY LAGS INTO ACCELERATION, CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS BUT THEY HIDE BEHIND THE EXCUSE THAT THIS IS A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE ISSUE FIRST OCCURRED AT AROUND 500 MILES. IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE SINCE.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A COMPLETE STOP IT WILL HAVE ISSUES GOING WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS. IT TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO GO AND IT WILL JERK FORWARD AND THEN GO. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT IT IS OFTEN ENOUGH THAT IT'S WORRY SOME AND COULD BE UNSAFE.

BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW. THE PROBLEM ORIGINALLY BEGAN AS INTERMITTENT NOW OCCURRING ALMOST CONSTANTLY. IF VEHICLE IS IN A STOPPED POSITION UPON PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD FOR UP TO ONE TO 2 SECONDS. THE RPM SHOWS THAT THE ENGINE IS REVVING BUT NO MOTION. THEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE WILL LURCH FORWARD. THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE VEHICLE RESPONSE TIME. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN NECESSARY. I HAVE BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS OF THIS PROBLEM TWICE AND WAS TOLD THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM BUT BECAUSE THE ISSUE IS NOT EXTREME ENOUGH NOTHING CAN BE DONE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLE CAN BE OPERATED SAFELY GIVEN THE CURRENT DEFECT.

MOSTLY IN THE MORNING AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS SAT ALL NIGHT AND OCCASIONALLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY AFTER STOPPING AT RED LIGHTS OR WHEN LEAVING A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WILL 'STALL, SHUTTER' OR HOWEVER ELSE YOU WANT TO DESCRIBE A RAPID JERKING MOTION WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. IT CAUSES A DELAY IN THE ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY AND SAFELY MERGE THE VEHICLE INTO TRAFFIC AT TIMES.

I PURCHASED MY 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON LIMITED 1.6L FORWARD DRIVE NEW IN NOVEMBER 2018. I STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS A FEW WEEKS AFTER MY PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE IS SLOW TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES AND OTHER TIMES THE VEHICLE LURCHES/ACCELERATES FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. FOR INSTANCE, I WAS AT A DRIVE THRU WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND MY TUCSON BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. I WAS SO AFRAID THAT I WAS GOING TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IT HAS LURCHED/ACCELERATED FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. OTHER TIMES WHEN I BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE JUST HESITATES TO MOVE AT ALL. IT IS VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE FOR A TURBO VEHICLE. CONCERNING MY BRAKES, MY BRAKES ARE MAKING A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING SOUND. I HAVE TAKEN MY TUCSON IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE BRAKE ISSUE, AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND THAT IS THE NOISE THAT TUCSON BRAKES MAKE. BRAKES DO NOT MAKE A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE FOR NO REASON AT ALL. ALSO, I TOOK MY TUCSON TO BE SERVICED FOR THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS SUV IS A DEATHTRAP. THE 2018 TUCSON 1.6L NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND THE ENGINE REPLACED WITH A 2.4L ENGINE AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED.

, FROM A STOP, WHEN YOU MOVE FORWARD, YOU PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR HESITATES TO MOVE FORWARD THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IF REVES HIGH AND THEN SPEED FASTER THAN IT SHOULD, I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TWO TIMES, THE VEHICLE HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. SOMETHING WITH THE DUAL-CLUTCH SYSTEM IS HAVING ISSUES AND WILL LEAD TO DEATH. THE VEHICLE DOES IT INTERMITTENTLY, SO YOU CAN NOT PREDICT IT WHEN IT WILL HAVE AN ISSUE, AT MIN, IT DOES THIS FREQUENTLY.

THE DUAL CLUTCH, 7 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN MY 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON DOES NOT ALWAYS MOVE THE CAR. WHEN PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, INTERSECTION, OR CROSSING ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES THE CAR WILL STOP MOVING WHILE PARTIALLY IN THE STREET/INTERSECTION. IT WILL NOT MOVE, THE ENGINE RPM'S REV UP AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD. I AM AFRAID THAT A CAR APPROACHING ME MAY NOT STOP IN TIME AND RUN INTO ME, EVEN THOUGH I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE THE TURN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON 9/24/2019 AND THEY SAID THEY WERE 'UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE'. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON 5/5/20. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME AFTER 6 WEEKS AND THE DEALER STATED THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND DUAL CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WITH A NEW UNIT AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS MAY NOT RESOLVE THE ORIGINAL ISSUE. ON 6/24/20 THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AT NO POINT DID HYUNDAI TELL ME THEY'VE HAD ONGOING ISSUES WITH THEIR DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. IT WAS MY OWN RESEARCH AND CONTACTING ANOTHER DEALER THAT I WAS TOLD HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS NO CURRENT SOLUTION TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. *TR

I HAVE THE 2018 TUSCON LIMITED 1.6T DCT WITH NO MORE THAN 12,000 MILES. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR ACCELERATING AFTER BRAKING AND PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL NORMALLY, THE CAR STOPS ACCELERATING AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN. THIS ALSO HAPPENS AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND TURNING ONTO A DIFFERENT STREET. WHEN IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE SHE PULLED OVER INTO THE CENTER TURNING LANE, BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THERE WERE CARS TURNING BEHIND HER. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO HAVE IT SERVICED AND THEY EITHER APPLIED AN UPDATE OR RESET THE TRANSMISSIONS COMPUTER; HOWEVER, A FEW HUNDRED MILES LATER AND IT'S DOING IT AGAIN. MY WIFE IS CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN ONE DAY AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT; SHE SAID SHE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ANYMORE. MY FIRST VEHICLE WAS A MANUAL AND I KNOW HOW A MANUAL DRIVES AND HOW THEY ACCELERATE AFTER SHIFTING. I UNDERSTAND THAT A DCT MAY HAVE SIMILAR BEHAVIORS. HOWEVER, THIS WOULD BE SIMILAR TO SOMEONE HOLDING IN THE CLUTCH ON A MANUAL AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS, GRINDING THEM, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT ACCELERATE AND ANY VEHICLE BEHIND THEM TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN SUDDENLY. WE LOVE THE CAR, BUT THE TRANSMISSION MAKES US FEEL UNSAFE AND HOPEFULLY WE DO NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS DCT ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED HYUNDAI DIRECTLY ABOUT THIS AND I AM SUPPOSED TO BE RECEIVING A CALL FROM HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS IN 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS.
Mileage: 12,000
WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE OUT OF A BUSINESS DRIVE WAY, THE CAR HESITATED AT LEAST 1-3 SECONDS BEFORE ENGAGNG THE TRANSIMISSION TO ACCLERATE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY INTO TRAFFIC. AS I WAS TURNING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, I WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. I WAS IN 2 OTHER SEPARATE INCIDENTS EITHER ACCCLERATING TO GET INTO A LANE OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I WAS SO SCARED, I TRADED THE 2017 TUSCON IN FOR A 2018 TUSCON HOPING THE PROBLEM WOULD BE SOLVED. IT DID NOT. IT HAPPENS IN THE 2018 TUSCON LESS OFTEN, BUT MORE INTERMITTENTLY MAKING IT EVEN MORE DANGEROUS AS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN OR IF ITS GOING TO HAPPEN AND BE ABLE TO REACT APPROPRIATELY.

SAME DUAL CLUTCH PROBLEM AS ON 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS PRIOR TO ENGAGING WHICH CAUSES SIGNIFICANT DANGER IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2016 AND HYUNDAI CONTINUED TO DENY ANY KNOWN PROBLEMS. NOW THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I TRADED MY 2016 IN FOR THE 2018 TO GET AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I WAS SO SCARED. NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NEW CAR. THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING. ALSO I WAS COASTING WITH FOOT NOT ON THE PEDAL AND NOT IN CRUISE CONTROL AND THE RPM'S SHOT UP TO 4200 THEN DOWN TO NORMAL, THEN BACK UP TO 2200 AND THEN BACK TO NORMAL. VERY SCARY. HAD CLUTCH ENGAGED CAR WOULD HAVE SHOT FORWARD INTO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. DEALER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED TROUBLE WITH BOTH PROBLEMS AND INFORMED ME THAT HYUNDAI HAS SWITCHED CLUTCH MANUFACTURERS.

THIS IS MY 2ND ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I HAVE ALWAYS NOTICED THAT WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP (AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN) AND I GO TO PRESS ON THE GAS THE CAR DOESN'T GO. IT'S LIKE IT HESITATED BEFORE IT STARTS TO PICK UP SPEED. I ALWAYS CHALKED IT UP TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS A 4 CYLINDER BUT AFTER SPEAKING TO MY MECHANIC I FIND OUT THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND CAN BE THE SIGN OF A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX FOR THIS.
WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, IE P TO R OR R TO D OR P TO D, THE CAR JERKS / CATCHES. SOME HAVE CALLED IT "TURBO LAG". IT'S DEFINITELY MOST NOTICEABLE AT A DEAD STOP. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS "LAG" WHILE BACKING UP OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND THEN TRASFERRING TO DRIVE, AS WELL AS BEING AT A DEAD STOP AT A STOP SIGN / RED LIGHT, AND THEN ACCELERATING. BOTH EXPERIENCES HAVE BEEN IN THE CITY, HIGHWAY, TURNING, AND LOCAL ROADS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAS CAUSED OR WHAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE. PERHAPS IT'S THE TORQUE CONVERTER? I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN NOV 2018 AND HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE JAN 2019. I HAVE HAD OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE MY CAR AND THEY HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. OTHER HYUNDAI TUSCON DRIVERS HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE, AND HAVE DISCUSSED IT AT THIS WEBSITE: HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/HYUNDAI/TUCSON/2018/TRANSMISSION/WILL_NOT_ACCELERATE.SHTML

THE 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON SEL HAS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP, BUT IDLE FORWARD FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS, UNTIL THE VEHICLE GOES. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN CONSISTENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RESET THE PROGRAMMING ON THE TRANSMISSION 2X. THERE ARE OTHER INDIVIDUALS ONLINE THAT ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THEIR 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON. IN JUNE 2019, I WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY A VEHICLE WHILE I WAS COMPLETING A LEFT HAND TURN ON GREEN WHEN AN ONCOMING VEHICLE DECIDED TO RUN THE LIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. ON 10/7/19 - I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TO RIDE WITH A TECHNICIAN. DURING THE 30 MINUTES RIDE, I FELT LIKE I HAD REPLICATED THE ISSUE SLIGHTLY BUT THE MECHANIC ONLY ASKED ME WHAT KIND OF CAR I PREVIOUSLY DROVE. WHEN I CHECKED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP, I ASKED FOR PAPERWORK TO DOCUMENT MY ENCOUNTER, EVEN IF THE MECHANIC CLAIMED IT WAS UNFOUNDED - BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH ANY AND TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING TO DOCUMENT.

BOUGHT NEW. VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATION ISSUES. RPMS SKYROCKET. IF ON DOWNWARD SLOPE, CAR WILL ROLL INTO INTERSECTION UPON DEPRESSING PEDAL. ON UPWARD HILL, CAR WILL HESITATE, THEN SUDDENLY JERK AND TAKE OFF. I HAVE A ROLLED INTO AN INTERSECTION TRYING TO CROSS A 2-LANE ROADWAY AND THE CAR STOPPED. I HAVE MENTIONED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST SAY IT'S THE WAY THE DUAL CLUTCH WORKS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE A FACTORY RESET. I WILL BE GOOD FOR ABOUT A DAY. STILL NO ACCELERATION WHEN NEEDING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND FEEL HYUNDAI NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO FIX THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES A FAMILY MEMBER. I DON'T WANT IT TO BE ONE OF MINE! OR DO A RECALL.
STARTING AT ABOUT 12000 MILES, MY CAR WILL AT TIMES FAIL TO ACCELERATE FROM.A STOP. IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY AND I HAD TO JAM THE PEDAL DOWN AND MY CAR REVVED TO 7000RPM BEFORE IT WOULD ACTUALLY ACCELERATE. IT KEPT DOING THIS THE WHOLE REST OF THE TIME I WAS OUT AND IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND COULDN'T GET MY CAR TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!

DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AROUND 5K MILES. THE CAR HAS 15K CURRENTLY. THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM OCCURS ABOUT 2-3 TIME DAILY UNDER NORMAL DRIVING 10-20 MILES PER DAY ON SURFACE ROUTS. FROM STOP TO ACCELERATING IN 1ST GEAR THERE IS A MUCH LONGER THAN SAFE LAG TIME BETWEEN THE GAS PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED TO THE CAR ACTUALLY GAINING IN SPEED. IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL AND THEN SHIFTS HARD INTO FIRST GEAR. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW LIGHTLY OR FIRMLY THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. IT IS A LARGE CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY THAT THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR PERFORM AS EXPECTED WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESULTS OR IMPROVEMENTS. THEY STATED THAT ALL HYUNDAI/ KIA DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS HAVE THAT PROBLEM- STATING THAT WE SHOULD DEAL WITH IT OR TRADE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE.

I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING THEREFORE THEY CAN'T FIX IT. I AM MOVING TO FLORIDA WHERE IT IS HOT AND HUMID ALL THE TIME WHICH IS SEEMS THAT THAT IS WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENS. I WOULD LIKE A NEW VEHICLE IF THEY CAN'T FIX IT I FIND THIS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON IT YET AS THERE ARE MANY MANY COMPLAINTS THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET
I PURCHASED MY NEW CAR 8 MONTHS AGO WITH 2 MILES ON IT. I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO PULL OUT FROM RED LIGHTS IF ANYONE IS EVEN INSIGHT AT TIMES. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT JUST DOESNT WANT TO GO AT ALL. IT DELAYS FOR ANYWHERE BETWEEN 2 AND 5 SECONDS, JUST ENOUGH TIME FOR CARS TO BE COMING RIGHT AT YOU. IT HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE WEEK, ONCE THE WEEK BEFORE AND ONCE RECENTLY, THE SAME DAY I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED HERE AND THERE IN THE SEVERAL MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT, BUT SEEMS TO BE GETTING MORE PRONOUNCED WHERE I AM NOTICING IT MORE. I ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND TWICE AND ALMOST GOT "T-BONED" WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS IT DID NOT DO IT WHEN THEY TOOK IT OUT (I TOLD THEM IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME AND IT PROBABLY WON'T FOR THEM.) THEY SAID THERE ARE NO BULLETINS OUT OR RECALLS AND NO CODES SHOW UP WHEN THEY TESTED IT. WELL I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE TUCSON HAS HAD MANY PAST PROBLEMS LIKE THIS (LITERALLY HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS) AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS IGNORING PLEAS FROM DESPERATE OWNERS BECAUSE NOTHING WAS BEING ADDRESSED. HYUNDAI FINALLY ADMITTED TO PROBLEMS WITH THE 2016 AND 17 TUCSONS AND DID A RECALL. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM NOW AFRAID TO MAKE LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS KEEPING IN MY MIND THAT THIS CAR IS GOING TO HESITATE, STALL, DELAY, WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT. 5500 HUNDRED MILES ON IT AND I PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO BUY IT, I DON'T FEEL SAFE MAKING TURNS AND FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND QUICKLY BEFORE SOMEONE (I HOPE NOT MYSELF ALSO)) GETS INJURED OR KILLED.

AROUND 1500 ,ILES THE CAR STARTED TO EITHER STALL COMPLETELY OR "JUMP" FORWARD IN AL DRIVEMODES, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP , THEY SAID IT HAS TO DO WITH TRANSMISSION BEING ESSENTIALLY A STANDARD. THEY TOLD US THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND IT NEEDS THIS OCCASIONALLY. REALLY NEVER HEARD OF THAT. OUR GASMILEAGE IS ALSO CONSTANLTY GOING DOWN. NOT HAPPY WITH THE CONSTANT SUDDEN ACCELERTION ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING ONTO INTERSTATES. BOUGHT THIS THING BRAND NEW FEB 2018.

THIS TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE CAR TO NOT ACCELERATE WHEN IT SHOULD, AND WHEN THE TRANSMISSION KICKS IS THE CAR TAKES OFF TO FAST LIKE IT IS OUT OF CONTROL. SOME TIMES THE TRANSMISSION MAKES THE CAR JERK THREE TO FOR TIMES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS IS UNSAFE AND I'M WEIGHTING FOR SOME ONE TO REAR END ME OR ME HITTING SOMEONE ELSE. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND HALF WAY THRU THE TURN THE CAR TOOK OFF ON ME BUT I GOT IT UNDER CONTROL. I CANT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS CAR AND THAT IS A SHAME BECAUSE WE BOUT IT FOR HER TO DRIVE. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND ALL I GET FROM THE HYUNDAI DEALER IS EXCUSES.IT GOES TO THE SERVICE DEPT.10/6/18 AGAIN.

VEHICLE SEVERELY HESITATES TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP WHILE IN TRAFFIC (GEAR SHIFT IS IN DRIVE POSITION). FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC. PROBLEM PERSISTS REGARDLESS OF DRIVING MODE SELECTION.
Mileage: 156
DELAYED ACCELERATION FROM STOP. VERY UNSAFE WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AS IT WILL TAKE UP TO 10 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN BUT NOT ALWAYS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
