The vehicle was supposed to be fixed(recall 197) regarding the oil in the alternator issue. After it was fixed my wife was driving on [XXX] at rush hour in Atlanta GA. It slowly was losing power and she called me about it. I told her to get over to the right and take the next exit. It did stop on the exit ramp in the dark but no electric what so ever. The lights and flashers were inoperative. She called the police and they pulled behind the car with their lights flashing. A tow truck brought it to the Hyundia dealer at night and put the keys in the drop box. The dealer replaced the faulty alternator but did NOT cover the bill because they could not find oil on the alternator! About $1500 later I took the car home. This was November 2024 Last week [XXX], the replaced alternator failed again. This was supposed to be fixed by the dealer in November, but somehow this FIX is not working. We now have 2 failures within a year of the alternator supposedly fixed(recall 197) with a "drip pan"? I am reluctant to take it back to this dealer as they have failed twice to fix the problem. Another dealer is far away and the charged up car may not make it that far. You need to tell me why this alternator is still failing and sticking me with the bill when you have supposedly had a fix for the problem. Please advise me on the solution. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the diagnostic result was undisclosed. The contact stated that he was informed by the dealer that the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that oil was still leaking into the cylinder. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and determined that oil was leaking into the cylinder and on the alternator. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

12/2016 purchased vehicle 04/2017 vehicle in for maintenance mechanic notice oil leaking from head gaskets replaced then was informed that there was a recall submitted paperwork to Hyundai reimbursement for recall. Received partial payment. 01/17/2023 vehicle stalled towed to my mechanic same problem head gasket leaking which shorted out alternator and battery. Towed to Hyundai dealer for recall dealer repaired. 11/8/2023 vehicle in for maintenance mechanic saw same problem with head gasket leaking again Hyundai dealer never fixed or used defective parts. Can not get an appointment at Hyundai service until 12/1/2023. Vehicle is leaking oil badly can cause a fire.

The contact stated she was able to drive the vehicle safely off the road. The contact stated when she opened the engine hood the engine was on fire. The contact stated that she and her passenger were able to extinguish the fire with water from a nearby residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle stalled and lost electrical power. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that engine oil was leaking onto the alternator, causing the alternator and battery to fail. The dealer diagnosed that the alternator, battery, and valve cover gaskets needed to the replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the ABS had failed. The alternator and battery were replaced at the owner’s expense. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion on the ABS failure. The independent mechanic advised the contact that the ABS was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not cover the repair of the valve cover gaskets as the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The alternator was replaced several times. The ABS warning light, check engine warning light, and stability control warning light was illuminated. The contact later received NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V705000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. A second dealer Lynnes Hyundai (401 Bloomfield Ave, Bloomfield, NJ 07003) was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle also experienced a charging failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000. This is recall 197. We have been waiting since 20 October 2021 for the dealer to get the part(s) to fix this issue. We have not driven the car since. We submitted a complaint to Hyundai via telephone on October 26 2021 and they gave us a case number 18905484, saying they would get in touch with us within 5 days. No one contacted us. So we called Hyundai again on November 15 and were told a case manager would call on November 16 from a prefix of 833. On November 16 the call came in with poor reception and the person told me she did not know when the parts would be in and offered to reimburse me for up to $50.00 a day for a rental car. She told me the conversation was being recorded. I declined the rental car offer. The dealer also called on November 16 and said they still did not know when the parts would arrive. On November 18 Hyundai called and said they were still trying to find parts. That is the last I have heard from anyone.

I need a new alternator and head gasket. I have a recall on my vehicle I have leaks on the alternator car shut off while driving and smoking from underneath the hood. It’s un drivable to dangerous to drive. I was told by a Hyundai dealership in Jersey City on communipaw Avenue that my parts will be here 5-10 days so that can fix it. That’s was in October 4,2021 it’s going 2 months in December. They never called me back I keep calling them. The last time we spoke they said maybe December or January my part might be on a container truck. Which is ridiculous to have to wait all this time . I told them that is my only means of transportation I use for work in my family.

I have contacted Hyundai motors regarding the recall that was released November of 2020 because my car has became inoperable due to the recall . Oil has leaked into my alternator causing the charging symptom not to work so now the car won’t start . I have tried to find a possible solution until the remedy is available. The recall has been released for over 7 months now . I am not able to financially afford the repairs on this car right now . They told me that I could pay to have the car repaired until the remedy is available. If I needed a loaner car from Hyundai until the remedy was available I would have to pay out of pocket for the expenses . I have not driven my car in about 2 months now due to the issue

CAR WONT START, TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP FOUND OUT OIL WAS LEAKING ON TO THE ALTERNATOR AND THAT THE VALE GASKET IT LEAKING OIL. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER 4 YEARS AGO TO GET IT FIX FOR THE RECALL. HAD THE CAR FOR 5 YEARS AND HAVE CHANGED 5 ALTERNATORS, AND 5 BATTERIES, NOW THAT I HAVE PUT A NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AGAIN, THE CAR WONT START NOW WITHOUT GETTING IT JUMPED OFF. WE HAVE TRIED DISCONNECTIOING THE TERMINAL WHEN NOT DRIVING BUT THAT ONLY WORKS SOMETIMES. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THAT THE CAR WAS OKAY EVEN WHEN IT WOULDN'T START IN THERE SHOP AND THEY HAD TO JUMP IT OFF AND EVEN PITTING A NEW STARTER ON.

OIL DRIPS FROM THE ENGINE ONTO ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO FAIL. INTERIM RECALL WITH INTERIM REPAIR GIVEN. RECALL CLOSED IN 2015 WITH NO PERMANENT REPAIR. THIS IS MY FOURTH ALTERNATOR TO GO BAD. WITH THE LAST REPAIR MADE UNDER THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V-415. THE DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE SITUATION CAUSED THE ENGINE TO DIE SUDDENLY PUTTING THE OCCUPANTS IN THE CAR IN DANGER. THIS LAST TIME THE CAR DIED WITH MY WIFE DRIVING IN THE TRAVEL LANE OF ROUTE 9 SOUTH IN HOWELL NJ.

RECALL FROM HYUNDAI: AN OIL LEAK FROM THE FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVE COVER GASKET COULD CAUSE ENOUGH OIL TO DROP ONTO THE ALTERNATOR TO DAMAGE IT, RESULTING IN A FAILURE OF THE CHARGING SYSTEM. IF THE ALTERNATOR IS DAMAGED, THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LAMP IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL ILLUMINATE, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER AND THE VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING; AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT TELLING OWNERS THAT THIS RECALL EVENTUALLY CAUSES THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE AS IT HAPPENED TO ME AND I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR MORE THAN 3 WEEKS, WAITING TO HEAR FROM HYUNDAI CORPORATE IF THEY ARE GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SO FAR, THEY HAVE NOT INDICATED ANYTHING. AS THE OIL IS LEAKING, THE CAR NEVER OPERATE AT THE OPTIMAL AMOUNT OF OIL, CAUSING FRICTION IN THE ENGINE WHICH EVENTUALLY BLOCKED THE PUMP SENDING THE OIL TO THE TOP OF THE ENGINE IN MY CAR. HYUNDAI HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE TO HELP RECTIFY THE SITUATION. CALLING ON THE SAFETY BUREAU FOR ACTIONS AND WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE SINCE MY RENTAL BILLS ARE ADDING UP. I HAD TO CHANGE MY ALTERNATOR TWICE, PRIOR TO THE DEALER HAVING TO CHANGE IT TWICE AS WELL WITHIN 4 YEARS DUE TO EXCESSIVE LEAKAGE OF OIL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT OIL LEAKED ONTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

2007 VERACRUZ ALTERNATOR VALVE COVER GASKET DEFECT. *MW THE CONSUMER STATED ON OCTOBER 4, 2013, THE VEHICLE STALED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. A TOW TRUCK WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BOOSTER BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKED OIL ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND DESTROYED IT. THE ALTERNATOR AND THE VALVE ROCKER COVER WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $758.46.*JB

SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF OIL LEAKING ONTO ALTERNATOR FROM FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVE COVER GASKET- COATING ALTERNATOR, NOT ALLOWING THE CAR TO START OR CHARGE WHEN JUMPED. CAR BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND SERVICED AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. LOCAL REPAIR SHOP HAS DOCUMENTED AND NOTED THAT THERE IS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURNING FROM FRONT CYLINDER BANK VALVUE COVER, WHICH IS DRIPPING AND COATING THE ALTERNATOR. INQUIRED HELP FROM HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING CAR INTO A DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. UNFORTUNALTLY THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO START AND THIS WOULD REQUIRE A TOWING SERVICE TO TOW MY VEHICLE TO THE CLOSET HYUNDAI SERVICE AND DEALERSHIP, WHICH IS OVER FOURTY FIVE MINUTES FROM MY CURRENT LOCATION. ALL EXPENSES HAVE TO BE PAYED OUT OF POCKET FROM THE VEHICAL OPERATIVE (THIS INCLUDES: TOWING AND ALL REPAIRS). HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL (INTERIM NOTICE)- THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP ADDRESS TOWING MY BROKEN DOWN VEHICLE AND GETTING ANY RESOLUTION INTO FIXING THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED IN RECALL LETTER. I AM A CONCERNED CUSTOMER THAT REACHED OUT TO THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE CENTER FOR ASSISTANCE. ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2014, MY SON WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN OUR 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN. HE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A REPAIR SHOP NEAR HIS WORK. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE TIMING BELT, THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $1,650.00, BECAUSE A SCREW HAD BROKEN OFF WHICH REQUIRED ADDITIONAL REPAIR IN ADDITION TO THE TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT. THE REPAIR SHOP MANAGER OFFERED TO PURCHASE THE CAR AT A VERY REDUCED PRICE ($1600.00), WHICH WE ACCEPTED. MY SON USED THE FUNDS AS A DOWN PAYMENT ON A NEW CAR. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS LATER, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL LETTER FROM HYUNDAI CONCERNING OUR RECENTLY SOLD VERACRUZ (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V-415). THE LETTER INCLUDED A SECTION EXPLAINING REIMBURSEMENT CONSIDERATION FOR PREVIOUS REPAIRS. THE RECALL INVOLVES ENGINE OIL LEAKING ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND DAMAGING IT ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE CHARGING CENTER. WE HAVE REPLACED OUR ALTERNATOR THREE TIMES AND HAD A MAJOR ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN JUST TWO YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER TO EXPLAIN OUR SITUATION. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE WE HAD SOLD THE VEHICLE, WE WERE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REPAIR (OBVIOUSLY) OR REPAIR REIMBURSEMENT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT I HAVE PAID OVER $2,000.00 OVER THE YEARS FOR REPAIRS QUITE POSSIBLY CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, I BELIEVE THE TIMING BELT ISSUE WHICH LED TO THE FINAL $1650.00 REPAIR ESTIMATE MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO THIS RECALL PROBLEM. MAYBE NOT. UNDOUBTEDLY, THE CONSTANT ENGINE PROBLEMS MADE ME FEEL LIKE I HAD PURCHASED A LEMON. NOW I KNOW WHY. PLEASE ADVISE ME ON HOW TO PROCEED WITH MY COMPLAINT.
