AFTER CONTINUALLY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND THEN LUNGED IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE THEN SUDDENLY AND RAPIDLY ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE REPAIR NECESSARY TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,874.

HE HAD TO QUICKLY SHIFT BACK TO DRIVE IN ORDER TO AVOID A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN HE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. HE WAS FORCED TO SHIFT INTO PARK GEAR, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND TRY AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,700. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
