The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the seat failed to recline. The service engine light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V175000 (Air Bags, Seats). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the cause was a faulty fuse. The fuse was replaced, but the failure recurred. The contact called the local dealer, who confirmed the recall repair was previously completed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called another local dealer, Douglas Infiniti (430 Morris Ave, Summit, NJ 07901), but there was no response. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

The fuel gauge is not reading correctly, and I have to rely on knowing my mileage and how much I last filled in my tank. I have to keep the car running longer than necessary to even duplicate the problem, and when I do the gas gauge just suddenly starts dropping. And if for some reason I even let my gas get low enough to have the low fuel lamp come on, it's almost too late and I barely make it to a gas station. I have not had the issue reproduced/confirmed by any independent servicer. I have seen in many G35 forums that this is an issue that has not had a recall yet. All of the other models for Nissan/Infiniti 2005 were recalled for the fuel sensor in 2010, but not the G35/G37 model. If this keeps happening I will eventually be involved in an accident when my gas runs out unexpectedly on the highway.

The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle locked up and stalled on four occasions. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The check engine and slip warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact researched the matter and stated the failure was due to a possible camshaft failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

WE RECEIVED THE CAR APRIL 18, 2020. WE WERE TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR BESIDES THE GAS GAUGE ON THE DASH. ON APRIL 20,2020, WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STOPPED. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A BIT AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. THE ENGINE WILL REV BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO FORWARD NOR REVERSE. WE LET THE CAR REST FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND IT STARTED TO WORK. WE THEN TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND HE TOLD US THAT THE TRANSMISSION WASN'T NO GOOD AND THAT'S THERE WAS AN EXHAUST LEAK.

I BOUGHT THE CAR GO5 'LL FLUIDS REFILLED DID REGULAR OIL CHANGES WAL-MART IN PINE CITY, MN WITHIN TWO MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT TJE CHEK ENGIINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I WENT TO AN O'REILLYS IN SIREN WISCONSIN CODES BACK FOR CAMSHAFT SENSOR. I WAS PLANNING ON BUYING TWO SENSORS TO BE REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT STAY ON ALL THE TIME. AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE AT WALMART IN NOV. I BOUGHT A 2005 INFINITI G35 LAST YEAR AND DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION DEFECT THAT THE G35 HAS. I RECENTLY DEVELOPED A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AND WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS LOW ON OIL. I FILLED THE CAR UP WITH THE 2 QUARTS OF OIL THAT WAS MISSING. I CHECKED THE ENGINE, ENGINE BAY AND ALSO UNDER THE CAR TO SEE IF THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK PRESENT BUT THERE WASN'T ANY. A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION THAT THE CAR IS KNOWN TO HAVE AND TO MY SURPRISE MY CAR WAS CONSUMING A QUART OF OIL EVER 500 MILES

I OWN A 2005 G35 COUPE AND STARTED NOTICING THAT THE MOTOR IS BURNING A LOT OF OIL. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT MY YEAR OF CAR HAS PROBLEMS WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE CAR EACH TIME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, ESPECIALLY IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE ON AN EXPRESSWAY. INFINITI G35 SEDAN 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION - UP REV - VQ35DE OIL CONSUMPTION IS BEYOND SAFE AND OPERATIONAL UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. INITIALLY CAR ENGINE SEIZED AFTER 3000 MILES OF DRIVING. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE OIL CONSUMPTION, AND THE CUSTOMER NEEDED TO ADD OIL. (THIS INCIDENT WAS NOT REPORTED BY INFINITI OF MARIN). ACCORDING TO INIFINIT TSB - ITB08-002D - THIS IS AN APPARENT PROBLEM, AND THERE IS A TEST AND SOLUTION FOR THIS FAULTY ENGINE. INIFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS SAYS I AM OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD, AND THIS WILL HAVE TO BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. MY INFINITY G35 2005 M/T HAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT OF OIL CONSUMPTION AND IS VERY COMMON TO THE ENGINE FOR THIS MODEL THE VQ35 IT ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES ON IT AND IT CONSUMES 1.5 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE CAR STARTS KNOCKING WITH NO OIL IN IT BY 2,000 AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. I CHANGE THE OIL AND ONLY 1 QUART COMES OUT WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO HAVE 5QUARTS! THIS IS ALSO CAUSING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON WITH CODES THAT THE OXYGEN SENSORS AND THREE WAY CATALYST ARE BAD. IT SQUEALS WHEN TURNING IT ON AND KNOCKS WHILE DRIVING.

I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, AND ONLY AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS (ABOUT THREE) DID THE CAR START. THERE IS NO WARNING. THE AUTO REPAIR FACILITY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THE CODE THEY GOT WAS THE CAM SENSORS NEEDED REPLACING, WHICH COST ME $650. THEY SAID THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACING A LOT OF THESE. IT'S VERY PREVALENT. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE 2003 MODEL OF THE INFINITI G35 HAD ARECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.

I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, AND ONLY AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS (ABOUT FIVE) DID THE CAR START, AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK IN A SAFE PLACE. SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR HAPPENED WITH THIS CAR IN JULY 2010. AFTER THE JULY 2010 INCIDENT, I HAD TO REPLACE A COUPLE OF SENSORS, WHICH COST OVER $1,000. I DID NOT EXPECT TO HAVE TO RELIVE THE EXPERIENCE OF HAVING MY CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED A 2005 INFINITI G35 FOR MY DAUGHTER. TWO WEEKS AGO THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING IT WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER - REGARDLESS OF SPEED. THERE WOULD BE A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, INCLUDING POWER STEERING, SO IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT FOR HER TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART IT. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR AT RANDOM EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION; PARTICULARLY, FOR A TEENAGE DRIVER. I GOOGLED THE CAR'S ISSUES, AND LEARNED THAT NISSAN HAS A RECALL ON 2005 INFINITI G35'S FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WHICH HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS CAUSING THIS LOSS OF POWER PROBLEM. I CALLED NISSAN TO SEE IF MY DAUGHTER'S CAR WAS ON THE RECALL LIST AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT. AN INFINITI DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE CAR THIS MORNING AND CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR'S CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAD FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD HONOR THIS RECALL ON EVERY 2005 INFINITI G35 VEHICLE - NOT JUST THOSE VEHICLES WHOSE VIN NUMBERS APPEAR ON THE RECALL LIST - ESPECIALLY THOSE VEHICLES WHO HAVE HAD THE SENSOR FAIL. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE. LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING OR HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. VERY PREVALENT. AS YOU ARE DRIVING THE DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR STARTS TO MAKE SOME NOISE THEN IT COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN THE MOTOR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND DOES NOT START ONCE IT STOPS. THERE IS NO WARNING. IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THE SENSOR TO RESET -- PUTTING ME AND MY VEHICLE IN HARMS WAY. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON A VERY BUSY OVERPASS. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. I HAD A HARD TIME STEERING AND GETTING OVER OUT OF THE WAY. I WAS ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES BY OTHER CARS DRIVING 50 PLUS MPH. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED. ONCE WE GOT TO THE AUTO REPAIR FACILITY. IT STARTED AGAIN BUT THEN SHUT OFF. I WAS GOOGLING THIS SYMPTOM AND THE YEAR, MAKE MODEL (2005 INFIINITI G35 ENGINE STALL) AND THIS WAS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WERE PUT AT RISK OF INJURY. I WAS CONVINCED THIS WAS MY PROBLEM, TOO. THE AUTO REPAIR FACILITY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THIS WAS THE CODE THEY GOT AS WELL. IN DECEMBER 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60 MPH WHEN VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP BECAUSE OF THE SPEED I WAS DRIVING. LATER ON MY TRIP HOME I WAS DOING 45 MPH AND VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND LOSS ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTOZONE TO SCAN AND SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. IT WAS THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS. I CHANGED THE SENSORS AND HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL 3/20/2014 WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SHUTTING DOWN AGAIN. FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FUEL. TRIED DIFFERENT FUEL STATION AND VEHICLE STILL WOULD SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTED. WHEN VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN YOU LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 INFINITI G35. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR AND THE SENSOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WASHINGTON, DC. MY CAR, FOR NO APPARENT REASON SHUT OFF AND A LIGHT "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" CAME ON. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO CUT-OFF. IT SIMPLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO RESTART AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES. ABOUT THE 4TH TRY MY CAR STARTED AND I CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION. THE "SES" LIGHT REMAINED ON. ABOUT 1 TO 2 MILES INTO THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE, THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN IN TRAFFIC AND A LIGHT THAT READ "SLIP" APPEARED ALONG WITH VDC ON/OFF. I HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS, BUT IT WAS FRIGHTENING TO BE IN TRAFFIC AND HAVE MY CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND MY CHILDREN ON BOARD. WE COULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN IN A REALLY BAD SITUATION HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND BELIEVE THIS SHOULD TRULY BE CONSIDERED AS A VIABLE RECALL. I WAS ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL DOING 65 ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR LOSES POWER AND STARTS TO STALL IN THE FREEWAY. IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO EXPLODE AND COULDN'T ACCELERATE. I GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER IN A GAS STATION. LATER ON I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP AND TOLD ME MY CAMSHAFT BROKE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2003/2004 MODELS FOR CAMSHAFT DOING THIS BUT STOPPED FOR 2005 EVEN THOUGH MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AS THEY DID. CALLED INFINITI AND THEY HAD NOTHING TO SAY. THANKFULLY I WASN'T HURT BUT I REALLY WISH INFINITI STEPPED UP AND FIXED THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2005 MODELS BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION CREATING A DANGER ON THE ROADWAY. RESTARTED, BUT THE ENGINE HESITATED BEFORE TURNING OVER. CHECK ENGINE, VDC & SLIP WARNING LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED AND REMAINED ON. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED A FAULTY CAM SENSOR AND REMEDIED TO REPLACE COSTING ALMOST $500. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THE 2003 MODEL WHICH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. RECALL #03V455000. INFINITI WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE WITHOUT A RECALL. IT SHOULD BE ASSUMED NEWER MODELS WILL EXHIBIT SIMILAR PROBLEMS AS THE ORIGINAL RECALL.
