THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE BLEW, THE CAR THEN LOCKED UP, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, THE CAR SPED OUT OF CONTROL (POLICE ESTIMATED UP TO 70 MILES PER HOUR), THE CAR RAN INTO A BRICK BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! I WOKE UP SURROUNDED BY A CROWD OF PEOPLE. ALTHOUGH, I PRESSED THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR, AND THERE WERE BLACK MARKS ON THE PARKING LOT LEADING UP TO THE CAR INSIDE THE BRICK BUILDING, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, OUT OF CONTROL.

AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE AUTO-ACCELERATED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SELECTOR WAS PLACED INTO THE 'DRIVE' POSITION. TO AVOID A HEAD ON COLLISION (THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO A HIGH RATE OF SPEED) THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED TOWARD THE LEFT. THE RESULT WAS THE STRIKING OF THE BUMPER AREA OF THREE PARKED VEHICLES, ONE OF WHICH SUFFERED SOME REAR FENDER DAMAGE. DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WAS SEVERE; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT OF 'AUTO-ACCELERATION'. IT OCCURED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AND REMAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE-WEEK, BUT NO FAULT WAS FOUND. *AKMORE RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO INCRESE IN SPEED ALTHOUGH NO FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR. IN THESE CASES, THERE WAS SUFFICIENT TIME SO NO DAMAGE WAS DONE.
