The contact owns a 2006 Infiniti M35. The stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an active recall. The dealer also informed the contact that the vehicle could be repaired at his expense. The contact stated that the manufacturer intentionally excluded his VIN from NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V008000 (Air Bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the issue would be escalated to the regional specialist and he would receive a recall notification if the VIN became included in the recall. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Made takata airbag recall appointment with Dealer on August 27, 2021. Then dropped car off dealer at 2pm, September 1, 2021. Today it is September 16, 2021--the job is supposed to take 2 hours. The dealer still has my car. So I am at 2 weeks and 1 day. The service manager is not returning calls. No loaner car given. That does not seem reasonable. No wonder why there are so many airbag recall not fixed Two weeks and a Day to fix a 2 hour issue. Please Help. Time limits are needed once repair is scheduled.

CALLED DEALER AGAIN JUNE 7, 2017 AND SPOKE WITH JORGE - TOLD THAT AIRBAGS CAME IN BUT DEALERSHIP HAS TO WAIT FOR REPLACEMENT DASHES DUE TO THEM "BREAKING" WHEN REMOVED TO REPLACE AIR BAG. I CALLED DEALER WHO SAID TO CALL CONS AFFAIRS BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT MADE OF ANYTHING RELATED TO PARTS. 6 WEEKS HAS NOW PASSED AND CONS AFFAIRS TOLD ME IT MAY BE ANOTHER 6 WEEKS OR LONGER. THEIR ADVICE TO ME IS TO SIMPLY NOT LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. FOR A FEW WEEKS, I CAN ACCOMMODATE THIS BUT LONG TERM THIS IS NOT AN OPTION. I NEED TO HAVE PEOPLE SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT. IM NOT SURE OF WHAT TO DO, ITS A VERY BAD SITUATION WHEN YOUR CAR JUST SHUTS OFF, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND YOU BEGAN A SLOW COAST IN MOVING TRAFFIC. TOOK VEHICLE FOR SAFETY INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THAT UPON DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG, EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE IS LIKELY TO CAUSE INFLATOR TO RUPTURE. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER FOR COVERAGE UNDER RECALL, NISSAN / INFINITI REFUSED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG UNDER RECALL, DESPITE POSSIBILITY THAT, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH INVOLVING DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG, INFLATOR IS LIKELY TO RUPTURE WITH PEICES OF METAL PROJECTED INTO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I AM TRYING TO GET A DEFINITIVE ANSWER ON MY VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF MY VEHICLE WAS ASSEMBLED USING THE RECALLED TAKATA INFLATORS. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN CONFLICTING INFORMATION. WHEN I ENTER THE VIN OF MY VEHICLE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE IT DOES NOT RETURN A "HIT" FOR A RECALL. HOWEVER; ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION I WAS ADVISED BY NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY APPLICABLE TO VEHICLES IN HIGH HUMIDITY AREAS AND THEY LISTED THE AFFECTED STATES AND GEOGRAPHIC AREAS. MARYLAND WAS NOT ON THAT LIST. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE RECALL WAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL GEOGRAPHIC AREAS BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN A DEFINITIVE ANSWER IF MY VEHICLE IS NOW PART OF THE RECALL. NISSAN CLAIMS IT CANNOT DETERMINE IF MY VEHICLE WAS ASSEMBLED USING TAKATA AIRBAG SYSTEMS YET IT SAYS THAT MY VIN IS NOT AFFECTED. GIVEN THE HIGH DEGREE OF RISK OF DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS I MUST HAVE AN ACCURATE ASSESSMENT IF TAKATA AIRBAGS/INFLATORS ARE IN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE ASKED NISSAN IF THEY CAN INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO MAKE THIS DETERMINATION BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED UNLESS AND UNTIL I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. I PURCHASED THE 2006 INFINITI M35 FROM APPROVAL ONE, LAPLACE, LA ON 3/16/2012 . I WAS NOT SHOWN A CARFAX REPORT. IT WAS FINANCED BY ASI FEDERAL CREDIT UNION FOR $16,000. THE CAR WOULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE CAR SENSOR AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN PER LETTER. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR WAS THE PROBLEM AND NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS SHIFTING GEARS AND I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO RAY BRANT INFINITI AND WAS TOLD A PART ON THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE PROBLEM. THAT WOULD COST ME $2,300.00. I DECIDED TO TRADE IN THE CAR ON 8/2/2014 AND WAS GIVEN A CARFAX REPORT SHOWING STRUCTURAL DAMAGE, AIRBAG DEPLOYED, AND THE CAR HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL DEALERS THAT NO ONE WOULD TAKE THE CAR RELATING TO THE DAMAGE. I REPORTED TO ASI FEDERAL CREDIT UNION. AS A RESULT, I HAVE A CAR NOT FITTED TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY TRANSPORTING MY FAMILY IN AND AM RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING $16,000.00 THIS CAR SHOULD NOT BE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 09, 2011 WE WERE INVOLVED IN A FOUR VEHICLE CRASH. WE WERE DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN A VEHICLE DRIVING AT LEAST AT 70 MPH STRUCK US FROM BEHIND, CAUSING OUR VEHICLE TO IMPACT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE FRONT.
