In addition, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel had seized. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but then became a persistent failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty or special repair programs. ON A USUAL MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK IN NH DRIVING MY Q50 HYBRID SPORT AND APROX. 2 MILES FROM GETTING OFF THE 93 INTERSTATE MY CAR SUDDENDLY PULL ME FROM THE LEFT LANE TO THE RIGHT ONE! SO HARD, I COULD NOT CONTROL IT AND ENDED UP HITTING THE CONCRETE FENCE ON THE REST LANE. THE CRASH WAS SO BAD THAT CAR SPINS AND STOP RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 2 ONLY LANES OF THAT ROUTE WITH THE WHOLE LEFT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR EXPOSED TO THE UPCOMING TRAFFIC. ONE GUY DRIVING A DODGE RAM HIT ME RIGHT IN THE CENTER. I AM VERY LUCKY THAT I HAD MY SEAT BEALT ON AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. LUCKY ME, I JUST SUFFERED MUSCLE PAIN ON MY LEFT ARM, NECK AND BACK. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND TRAUMATIC. I JUST HAD THE CAR FOR 3 MONTH AND IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. IT IS SO DISSAPOINTING THAT I DECIDED TO INVEST IN SOMETHING MODERN, RELIABLE AND WITH ALL THE SECURITY PCKG AND THIS HAPPENED. WHEN THE CAR DID THIS, DIDNT ADVISE ME OF ANYTHING ON THAT MORNING, NO LIGHTS ON OR ANYTHING TO BE CHECKED ON, NEITHER A BEEP WHEN THE CAR WAS CHANGING LANE ETC..IT WAS LIKE A SUICIDAL TURN! THE RIGHT SIGHT OF THE CAR ALSO FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE BEING PULSED OR APPLIED WITHOUT MY INTERVENTION WHICH MADE KEEPING THE CAR IN-LANE EVEN MORE DIFFICULT. THE PULL TO THE RIGHT WAS SO SUDDEN THAT THE CAR WAS DIRECTED INTO THE NEXT LANE - THANKFULLY NO CAR WAS PRESENT. I THOUGHT A TIRE WAS BLOWN OUT SO AFTER PULLING THE CAR OVER FOR INSPECTION ALL 4 TIRES WERE FINE. I TRIED DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE, SO I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED 90 MILES FOR SERVICE. MY Q50 HAS ABOUT 16,000 MILES AND I AM STILL AWAITING A FULL REPORT FROM THE DEALERSHIP. EVEN AFTER DAS REPROGRAM (ITB14-006) PER CAMPAIGN END OF JANUARY '14, DAS FAILED AT COLD TEMP AT START UP. AFTER DRIVING 10 MIN, I PARKED THE CAR OUTSIDE FOR 30 MIN AT 0 DEGREE F. WHEN RESTARTED, ENGINE WAS ON BUT MULTIPLE WARNINGS APPEARED (SAME AS REPORTED ON 1/11/14). THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES AT COLD TEMP BEFORE REPROGRAMMING, AND PREVIOUSLY, I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN TIRES AT ALL BECAUSE STEERING WAS JUST TOO HEAVY. HOWEVER, THIS TIME (#3), I WAS ABLE TO TURN TIRES EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL HEAVIER THAN USUAL. THE BACKUP MECHANICAL STEER MUST HAVE KICKED IN, AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND MOVE THE CAR TO MORE SECURE PLACE AND WAITED. IN PREVIOUS 2 OCCASIONS, AFTER 40 MIN AND 10 MIN EACH TIME WHEN THE CAR WARMED UP, ALL ALARMS DISAPPEARED. THEREFORE, I WAITED, AND AFTER 40 MIN OF ENGINE RUNNING, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND ALL ALARMS DISAPPEARED, AND THE CAR FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. EVEN THOUGH THE MECHANICAL STEER KICKED IN AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR, IT WAS OBVIOUS DAS STILL FAILED AT COLD TEMP. THE FUNDAMENTAL DAS FAILURE PROBLEM AT COLD TEMP HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED AFTER THIS REPROGRAM, BUT AT LEAST NOW THE BACKUP MECHANICAL STEER WORKS IN THIS SITUATION.
