Driveshaft broke while driving down the road!!
I received a check engine light will driving which is now indicated as code P0720 and P0500. The car refused to shift past 3rd gear and began to sputter and would not allow me to go past 25mph disrupting the flow of traffic.
Front and middle crossmember rusted out to the point they have no more structural effects issues discovered while fixing a know issue to these models : rusted out and leaking engine and transmission oils pans I had confirmation from the dealership and other independent repair shop that leaking oils pans are common for those models and can cause engine and transmission failure. For the crossmembers they are important structural components that directly affect suspension/direction and drivetrain secureness. If the plastic shrouds/cover are not taken off during inspection those issues will goes undetected until one of them reaches failure
The transmission Valve Assembly Control Module and Vehicle Speed Sensors have both failed. The car will not shift out of 2nd gear and cannot go faster than 40 mph. This is a safety issue. I had my car inspected by a certified mechanic and he diagnosed the problem. He also stated that that he has seen this a lot with Infinitis. I have maintained my car well but this is Not a maintenance issue. There are thousands of infiniti owners online stating that they had the exact same problem. I filed a case with Infiniti #52260861. This is a design flaw with All Infiniti cars and SUV's and it should be a Recall or at a minimum fixed for free by Infiniti. It cost me $3,500 to have my car fixed and this should be paid by Infiniti to me and all other Infiniti owners with this same problem.
Driving car normally and car randomly put itself in 3rd gear and slammed down hard almost making me cause a crash and injury to me. Went to dealership they told me I need a new transmission due to valve body that they don’t sell by itself. This is the second time a replacement was done and it happened
Valve body failure
Valve body went out at 90k miles . This is way common and i took care of the car.
Transmission valve body has failed 2 times in less than 4 years of ownership
Received PO270 code which is speed output sensor which requires valve body and TCM to be replaced. Dealership stated that there should be recall but is not. Very common issue and Infiniti would not provide any help.
Transmission will not shift out of 3rd gear. I was driving down the freeway in 7th gear doing 75mph when all of sudden the transmission threw itself into 2nd gear then to 3rd. It felt like I was driving over a very large boulder and my transmission was being ripped out from under the car. Then my check engine light came on. So I had it towed home. I went for a test drive and the car will shift 1st, 2nd then 3rd but won’t go to 4th. It just stays in 3rd, it doesn’t slow down, it continues to rise in rpm and speed but won’t go out of 3rd gear. It also will not go into the manual shift mode either. I have read online about thousands of others with the same exact transmission having the same exact problem. I almost was not able to control my car so it most definitely is a big safety issue. I had autozone run a scan on it and it popped up all of these codes. My dash had zero warning lights at all before the incident happened.
I was driving on the freeway and suddenly my vehicle would not shift into third geer causing the RPM s to go up to 4-5. As I tried to exit the car started shuddering and I was almost hit by multiple cars. I finally was able to exit and stop to park the vehicle. No warning lights came on at anytime. I had it towed to my mechanic and was told that it was the valve body control. My car only has 86k on it and I have taken exceptional care of it performing all maintenace like clockwork. Was told replacement was 8,500.00 for entire part including the housing or 4,500 and use my current housing. My mechanic checked with infinity who said they knew of this issue, but there is no recall and the part is only under warranty for 1 year.
Engine overheating and system not keeping engine cool, locks don’t work
vehicle would not drive pass 20mph, would not switch to manual mode , code p0720, p0500 v
The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Q50. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the RPM inadvertently increased briefly before returning to normal. The check warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined a failure with the output speed sensor and transmission valve body. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

-When braking while hybrid and engine system are attemping to determine the power draw the vehicle will propel forward increasing momentum of vehicle rather than braking. -Vehicle is available for inspection. -This issue can cause collision due to the sudden undesired propulsion of the vehicle, as well as addition unnecssary use of the braking system. -Dealer states this is normal condition. -Vehicle has only been inspected by dealer. -There are NO warning signs, indicators, or alerts. Issue first started around 35,000 miles. -In addition the drivetrain might also affect the ability to propel forward. While in slow speeds (10 mph and below) the vehicle the vehicle will stutter making take off difficult from complete stop. Additionally, vehicle stutters just the same while braking to come to a stop (10 mph and below) making it difficult to navigate a safe stop.
ON SEPTEMBER 5TH, I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 INFINITI Q50 AND ONCE IT REACHED 2ND OR 3RD GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION REVVED UP AND THE CAR LOCKED THE TIRES UP AND THREW US FORWARD LIKE IT WAS SLAMMED INTO A LOW GEAR. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR HOME 400 MILES AND DROPPED IT OFF AT THE INFINITI DEALER ON SEPTEMBER 7TH 2020. AS OF OCTOBER 24TH 2020, I STILL DON'T HAVE MY CAR BACK. I WAS INFORMED BY THE PARTS MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WERE OVER 700 VALVE BODY'S ON BACKORDER. HE CLAIMED THAT NISSAN/INFINITI WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WAS BEING VERY PICKY WITH THE QUALITY CONTROL OF THE NEW PARTS TO INSURE THERE WOULD BE NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THEY ARE QUOTING $2400 PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THE CAR. WAS ADVISED BY THE PARTS MANAGER TO CONTACT INFINITI CUSTOMER AFFAIRS.

THIS IS AN AWD CAR PURCHASED USED 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE CAR HAS ONLY 11, 000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC IN HEAVY SNOW CONDITIONS ON AN OVERPASS BRIDGE THAT MERGES ONTO A BUSY FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE'S FRONT WHEELS PULLED THE CAR TO LEFT 2-3 TIMES AT A SPEED OF LESS THAN 5MPH OUT OF MY LANE BUT I WAS ABLE TO CORRECT. WHILE STILL ON THE OVERPASS BRIDGE I TOOK MY FOOT OFF BRAKE TO INCH FORWARD (STILL IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC) AND STILL LESS THAN 5 MILES PER HR, HARDLY MOVING, THE CAR AGAIN PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT AND PULLED ME INTO A GUARDRAIL. IF THERE WAS NO GUARDRAIL I WOULD HAVE PLUMMETED TO THE FREEWAY BELOW. ALL THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT EVER PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AS I WAS IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC, SO I WAS BARELY MOVING. I HAD MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH ME. WE BOTH SAID THAT THE CAR ACTED ALL ON ITS OWN AND WE BOTH NOTICED THAT NO OTHER CARS WERE SLIPPING OR SPINNING OUT AT ALL. THE SNOW HAD JUST BEGAN TO FALL SO THERE WASN'T TOO MUCH ON THE ROAD MAYBE 1-2 INCHES (ESTIMATED). THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE BUMPER AND QUARTER PANEL (WHICH WE HAVE YET TO GET ESTIMATED). WE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE INFINITI DEALERSHIP, I HAD THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTICS ON THE COMPUTER. THEY SAID THERE WAS A FAULTY "CHASSIS CONTROL MODULE" THAT DETERMINES THE POWER APPLIED TO THE WHEELS AND WHICH ONES. THE SERVICE ADVISORS MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT THIS "MOST DEFINITELY COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED". HE RECOMMENDED I CALL INFINITI'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND FILE A CLAIM. INFINITI ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO NOT WORK ON THE CAR, THEY SENT THEIR MECHANIC TO INVESTIGATE. THE CLOSED THE CASE AND SAID THE CAR HAD NO ISSUES AND REPLACED NOTHING AND RETURNED THE CAR BACK AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. INFINITI WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AND WON'T PAY FOR BODY DAMAGE OR ANY REPAIR. *TR

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, IT HAS LOCKED UP ON ME. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE MY CAR LOCKED UP ON ME AFTER COMING OFF AN HIGHWAY AND I WAS HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. I TOOK IT BACK TO INFINITI WHO CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS ISSUE. EVEN THOUGH I POINTED THEM TO SCORES AND SCORES OF SIMILAR ISSUES BEING REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. INFINITI'S RESPONSE WAS "ANYONE CAN WRITE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET". I THOUGHT THIS COMMENT WAS INSENSITIVE AND DOWNRIGHT RIDICULOUS. EVEN THOUGH ANYONE CAN WRITE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET, MOST PEOPLE WOULD NOT GET ON THE INTERNET TO COMPLAIN ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THEIR CAR THAT WAS NOT TRUE - WHAT WOULD THEY GET OUT OF IT??INFINITI'S CAVALIER ATTITUDE HAS SHOCKED ME SINCE MY FAMILY HAVE BOUGHT FIVE INFINITIS FROM THEM OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THESE TYPES OF COMPLAINT. ADDITIONALLY THIS TYPE OF ISSUE COULD KILL FOLKS! IS INFINITI TRYING TO BALANCE LIVES AGAINST A RECALL THAT'S NEEDED......I AM SHOCKED AND APALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!
