The contact owns a 2017 Infiniti QX30. The contact stated the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V419000 (Steering) for the lower steering shaft and was repaired under recall. After the recall repair, the steering wheel occasionally seized intermittently, the horn failed to operate, and the buttons on the steering wheel were inoperable. Additionally, the mileage, tire pressure, and other functions on the instrument panel were inoperable. The vehicle was returned to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The driver’s side heater does not function correctly. When heat is turned on, the passenger side warms but the driver’s side only blows cold air. This prevents the windshield on the driver’s side from properly defrosting/defogging in cold or wet conditions, which creates a serious visibility hazard. Additionally, none of the steering wheel controls function due to a diagnosed clock spring failure. This failure also affects the horn and may impact the driver’s airbag connection. A non-functioning horn prevents warning other drivers/pedestrians, and loss of airbag function creates a major crash safety risk. The vehicle was inspected at an Infiniti dealership, and the problems were confirmed. The issues appeared shortly after purchase and have been consistent since. Safety risk: – Reduced visibility due to inability to defrost/defog the driver’s side of the windshield. – Loss of horn function. – Potential failure of driver’s airbag deployment due to faulty clock spring.

Hello. My vin number is not showing unresolved recalls, but I believe it is based on my experience. I was parking my car, which involved turning my steering wheel all the way to the right, and heard a crunching, clicking sound. I did some teoubleshooting, and believe it is the clock spring giving out. What concerns me is 1 of the 4 recalls in particular. Infiniti recalled the 2017 and 2018 QX30 compact crossover SUV due to a potential for the driver's airbag to deploy unexpectedly. The recall was issued due to a grounding issue with the steering components that could cause an electrostatic charge to build up. If the airbag clock spring broke, the driver's side airbag could deploy accidentally, which could result in a crash or injury to the driver. When I called Sewell Infiniti in Dallas, TX, I was told they had no recalls showing for my 2017 QX30, and to look at it would cost $240. I am currently not in a place financially to be able to afford this, but am concerned for my safety. I bought this car used from Carmax, but have since taken it to Sewell Infiniti for service and repairs. Please advise the best course of action as I am truly scared to drive my car due to this potentially deadly situation.

While driving vehicle warning message appeared on cluster saying “ABS INOPERABLE” with ABS and traction control lights on. Minutes later all power steering is gone and vehicle is very difficult to steer. This not only put me in danger but also my passengers and others on the road as well. This has happened multiple times. Brought the vehicle to the infinity dealer to be told I needed 2 new batteries. Bought new batteries and is still happening. The owner manual says to rock steering wheel side to side while driving 12mph to reset. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I have read multiple complaints on different forums for the same issue I am complaining about. Is Infinity waiting for someone to be injured or killed due to this malfunction before they issue a recall and fix this problem? In addition to this electronic issue I have also had other lights appear for “reverse not possible”, maintenance required, as well as others I can not remember at this time. Clearly there is an electrical issue with these vehicles.

I have been attempting since July to get the recall repaired. I went there in July after calling and making an appointment but they did not have a loaner car so I left. No one could tell me how long the repair would take. Attempt # 2 called Infiniti of Coconut creek and explained that I was calling to get an appointment to have the recall for my steering repaired and I wanted to make an appointment . He told me to come down. I explained to him what happened last time and I didn't want to make an unnecessary trip and I wanted to make sure it was something they could fix today or that they had a loaner car available for me. I then asked for a supervisor who advised me they had no loaner cars and he was not sure how long the repair would take. He said that he would check with the tech and put me on a list for a loaner car after a 10 minute rant on how they have no loaner cars b/c customers like me don't bring them back. That was 4 months ago never to hear from him again. Attempt # 3 in November called again same run around, sent emails to both Infiniti and Infiniti of coconut creek and heard back from the Service manager same person I spoke to in July (although he denies it. I recognize his voice. He stated that they needed to order the part, that it would take 2 to 4 weeks and once it came in he would call me to schedule the repair. Much like last time no call back. It's now been over 5 weeks and I still have not heard back regarding the repair of my recalled car.

THIS VEHICLE IS AN ABSOLUTE HAZARD. THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING, AND THE VEHICLE WILL BE SLOW TO ACCELERATE WHILE THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE PERSONALLY HAD TWO NEAR ACCIDENTS WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT I AM FAR FROM THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE AND INFINITI DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THREE TIMES ALREADY WITH NO SOLUTION OFFERED. I HAVE ATTACHED A FEW OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I FOUND ONLINE.
