Unknown. Timing chain issue. When car is started it makes a noise for about 10 min then goes away
Catalytic Converter, A/F Sensor failed on the interstate when I was driving with kids in the car. Took vehicle to the nearest dealer only to be told that this is a known problem with these vehicles and it was going to cost me $3,100 to repair.
I'M CURRENTLY DEALING WITH THE TIMING CHAIN NIGHTMARE SO MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD AND ARE HAVING. OF COURSE JUST AS MOST OF THE OTHERS I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND REALLY FRUSTRATED THAT INFINITI HASN'T STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM PROPERLY AS OPPOSED TO RENAMING THE QX56 TO QX 80 TO SAVE THEMSELVES, LEAVING CONSUMERS SCRAMBLING WITH EXPENSIVE TIME CONSUMING FIXES TO A KNOWN DEFECT ON THEIR PART. WHERE'S THE ACCOUNTABILITY ON THEIR PART, DO A CERTAIN NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE THE CONSUMERS ARE PROVIDED WITH THE PROPER ASSISTANCE? WHO REALLY LOOKS OUT FOR US? A recall was done in 2016 obviously they need to expand the Vin number
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti QX56. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would vibrate violently. Additionally, the vehicle had experienced intermittent power loss and had gone into limp mode. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the timing chain replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

ON JUNE 1ST 2020 I TOOK MY 2011 INFINITI QX56 TO THE SHOP FOR HAVING THE CODE P0087. THE SHOP TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE PROBLEMS THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ARE RECALLED UNDER VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN. WHEN I CALLED MY LOCAL INFINITI DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME MY VIN # DOESN'T DOESN'T SHOW AS RECALLED. THEY DEALERSHIP PROVIDED ME WITH THE PHONE NUMBER OF INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I CALLED INFINITI AFFAIRS AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY VEHICLE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE SORRY BUT MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THEIR SYSTEM. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT EVERY SINGLE THING THAT I RESEARCHED AND FIND THE WRONG OF THE VEHICLE COMES BACK WITH A VOLUNTARY RECALL. LIKE THE FUEL SYSTEM, TIMING CHAIN, VVT SOLENOIDS, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. I USE VEHICLE IN THE CITY AND HIGHWAY.

WHEN CALLING INFINITY CORPORATE THEY DENIED FIXING THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT SEE THE MAINTENANCE RECORD FOR THE TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INFINITY DEALER. THE TRUCK GETS MAINTENANCE FROM OTHER PLACES LIKE JIFFY LUBE ETC. OUR CLAIM WAS DENIED THEY SAID THE CAMPAGIN EXPIRED IN FEBRUARY 2018.

THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON, AND I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO HOLMON INFINITI IN MAPLESHADE, NJ WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A BANK 2 CATALYTIC CONVERTOR FAILURE. I HAD IT REPLACED AT A COST OF $2,661.79 ON THURSDAY MARCH 29, 2018. ON SATURDAY MARCH 31, 2018, THE BANK 1 CATALYTIC CONVERTOR FAILED. INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS PROVIDED SOME ASSISTANCE WITH THE SECOND REPAIR. THEY PAID FOR THE PARTS AND I PAID THE LABOR OF $1,385.63. INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PARTS FOR THE FIRST REPAIR BECAUSE "I ALREADY PAID FOR IT". HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THIS APPARENTLY COMMON PROBLEM, I WOULD NOT HAVE PAID FOR THE FIRST ONE WITHOUT CONTACTING THEM FIRST. IT APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE IF THEY WERE WILLING TO GIVE ME ANY ASSISTANCE AT ALL, AND I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE EXTENDED TO REPAIRS ALREADY PAID FOR BY THE CONSUMER.

THE SUV WAS DRIVING WITHOUT ISSUE; HOWEVER, IF THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN WE WOULD HAVE HAD AN ENGINE STALL WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WE HEARD A NOISE IN THE CAR AND DECIDED TO BE SAFE AND TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE. AFTER GETTING TO THE INFINITI DEALERSHIP OF GWINNETT THE NOISE HAD SUBSIDED. WE EXPLAINED WE HEARD A WHINING NOISE WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTING UP THAT WENT AWAY AFTER A TIME. THE NOISE WASN'T EVEN EVIDENT BUT THEY KNEW WHAT IT WAS BEFORE EVEN HEARING IT. AFTER LETTING THE CAR COOL DOWN THEY STARTED THE ENGINE UP AGAIN AND HEARD THE NOISE. THEY LET US KNOW THIS HAD CONFIRMED THE INITIAL DIAGNOSIS OF A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. AFTER GETTING HOME AND LOOKING UP THE ISSUE WITH THE CAR I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. APPARENTLY INFINITI HAS A DEFECTIVE OIL PUMP THAT LUBRICATES THE CHAINS THAT CAUSED THIS ISSUE. I WANTED TO VOICE MY CONCERN AND DISPLEASURE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2011 QX56.

THIS ISSUE WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED SOMEWHERE!! IT HAPPENS TO MY WIFE AND I THREE TIMES!!! I HAD TO GET IT TOWED ALL THREE TIMES!! THE HAZARD IS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE JUST LOSES ALL POWER LEAVING THE HAZARD OF SOMEONE RUNNING IN BACK OF YOU. IF YOU DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AND THIS PROBLEM COMES ABOUT YOUR VEHICLE WILL STALL AN YOU CAN POSSIBLY START ROLLING BACKWARDS. SO FROM MY RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO PEOPLE EITHER RIGHT BEFORE THERE WARRANTY ENDS AT 70,000 MILES OR RIGHT AFTER (LIKE ME) AT 74,000 MILES. I CALLED INFINITI AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY. THE GUYS AT MY DEALERSHIP SAID ITS A HIT OR MISS WITH THEM HELPING OWNERS OF THE QX56 THAT'S OVER THE WARRANTY. I WAS ALREADY $1500 IN THE WHOLE ON PARTS THEY THOUGHT WERE THE PROBLEM AND NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME AN ESTIMATED $3,000-4,5000 TO DO THE REST OF THE WORK. ITS A FACT THAT INFINITI KNOWS THEY HAVE THIS ISSUE AND REFUSES TO RECALL OR HELP THE OWNERS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A INFINITI AGAIN!!! AND WILL SPREAD THE WORD AROUND ABOUT THEM!

I NOTICED THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD WHISTLE NOISE EMANATING FROM THE ENGINE DURING COLD START-UPS. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS LATER I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AT THE ORLANDO INFINITI DEALERSHIP ON JANUARY 5, 2016. AS SOON AS I DESCRIBED THE ISSUE THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND MULTIPLE TECHNICIANS IMMEDIATELY SAID "IS THE TIMING BELT." PRIOR TO THIS VEHICLE I OWNED A 2005 QX56 THAT I DROVE FOR 10 YEARS WITH OVER 180, 000 AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES. NOW I LOOK ONLINE AND EVERYWHERE I LOOK I FIND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT IS SO COMMON THAT THE INFINITI DEALERSHIP HAS ONE TECHNICIAN DEDICATED TO WORKING THIS ISSUE ALONE. WHILE AT THE SHOP I SAW AT LEAST 5 MORE QX56 VEHICLE IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. NOW I AM LOOKING AT A REPAIR BILL OVER $4500. I NEVER HAD ANY VEHICLE WITH 90,000 MILES AND HAVING THIS ISSUE. IT IS WAY TOO COMMON AND IT IS A CRIME THAT INFINITI HAS NOT CATEGORIZED THIS ISSUE AS A FULL RECALL. THESE ARE TOP DOLLAR LUXURY VEHICLES!!!
WITH 72000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, TWO THOUSAND OVER WARRANTY, THE TIMING CHAIN HAS TO BE REPLACED. INFINITI REFUSES TO OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WHEN IT IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THAT IS EVIDENCED BY THE FACT THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY RE-ENGINEERED. A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEED WOULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR FATALITY. PROBLEMS WITH THE TIMING BELT CHAIN ON NEWER MODEL INFINITI QX56. PROBLEM OF CAR MAKING WHISTLING NOISE APPEARED EARLY AFTER PURCHASE AND INTERMITTENTLY THEREAFTER BUT BECAME PROMINENT IN JULY 2011. APPEARS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE MODEL. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE ON THE VEHICLE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, WE BELIEVE THE UNDERLYING DEFECT IN THE TIMING BELT CHAIN WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR AND THAT THERE IS THE POTENTIAL THE ENGINE COULD FAIL AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT(S) AND/OR FATALIT(IES). *TR
