TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 ISUZU RODEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EXTENSIVE RUST AND CORROSION ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE FRAME. IN ADDITION, THE CONTROL ARMS ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME CONDITION. THE DEALER (MANCARI'S CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM, 708-423-0910, LOCATED AT 4630 W 95TH STREET, OAK LAWN, IL 60453) WAS CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER AUTHORIZED TO SERVICE ISUZU VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO RECEIVE A RECOMMENDED DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

THE REAR SHOCK ON THAT SIDE PULLED OFF THE FRAME DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE RUST. THE OTHER SIDE SHOWS SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE RUST ALSO. THE CAR IS NOW NOT PASSABLE FOR VEHICLE INSPECTION AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE REST OF THE CAR LOOKS GREAT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING I FELT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE SWING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, THEN SECONDS LATER THERE WAS NO BRAKE. I WENT TO INVESTIGATE AND NOTICE THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME OF THE CAR WAS ROTTED OUT. THE BRACKET THAT "HOUSE" THE SHOCK WAS ROTTED OUT, WHICH CAUSED THE SHOCK TO BREAK LOOSE AND SEVER THE BREAK LINE. THE BRACKET THAT ATTACHED THE AXLE TO THE FRAME WAS ALSO ROTTED AND IS SEPARATING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY, NO ONE WAS HURT. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT PROCESS TO TAKE TO ENSURE VEHICLE ISSUES ARE CORRECTED CONSIDERING THIS YEAR ,MAKE AND MODEL WAS ON THE RECALL LIST, AND THAT SEVERAL NEWS CHANNEL (TEAM 5 INVESTIGATES) AS DONE REPORT ON THIS VERY PROBLEM. *TR

I LEFT A FRIENDS HOUSE AND GOT ON 295 WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANGING, THEN A SHORT TIME LATER I LOST MY BRAKES. COME TO FIND OUT THAT I WAS TOLD THE SHOCK BROKE AND BECAUSE OF THAT IT BROKE MY BRAKE LINE AND THE SUPPORT FOR THE SUSPENSION WAS ALL RUSTED OUT. I WAS TOLD BY A FRIEND OF MINE ABOUT A RECALL INVOLVING THE SUSPENSION AND WHAT I HAD DESCRIBED WAS THE PROBLEM. SO I CALL ISUZU AND THEY TOLD ME THAT AS OF DEC. 2012 THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER FIXING ANY MORE VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO. WELL SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED I NEVER RECEIVED AND RECALL NOTICE. I COULD HAVE HAD A VERY BAD ACCIDENT, CONSIDERING I HAD 2 PEOPLE CUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. THIS IS BS. I TOOK MY ISUZU TO A DEALER LAST SUMMER FOR A NATIONWIDE RECALL DUE TO PREMATURE FRAME RUSTING. I WAS TOLD THERE ARE SEVERAL "CATEGORIES" THAT THEY COULD PUT A VEHICLE INTO AS FAR AS THE AMOUNT OF RUST WAS CONCERNED. AFTER AN INSPECTION, I WAS PUT INTO THE WORST CATEGORY THAT INVOLVED FIXING. ANY FURTHER RUST, I WAS TOLD, MEANS THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN JUNKED. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING A FEW SUSPENSION PARTS AND INSTALLING TWO LARGE METAL BRACKETS TO REINFORCE THE FRAME. EVER SINCE THE WORK, THE CAR HAS MADE STRANGE "CREAKING" NOISES. I'VE CRAWLED UNDER THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES AND CANNOT IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE NOISES. LAST WEEK, WHILE DRIVING, A LARGE PIECE OF THE FRAME RUSTED THROUGH AND FELL OFF. TODAY, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP FOR A BREAK NOISE (UNRELATED TO THE FRAME.) THEY CALLED ME A SHORT TIME LATER AND TOLD ME THE FRAME WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IN THEIR OPINION. I CALLED THE ISUZU DEALER THAT DID THE WARRANTY WORK. THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING FURTHER THEY CAN DO AS FAR AS THE WARRANTY GOES. I FIND IT ODD THAT THEY PUT A BANDAID ON A RUSTING FRAME ONLY TO HAVE IT GET WORSE A YEAR LATER AND REFUSE TO FIX IT. *TR

ISUZU STATED THAT IN FACT THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2010 BUT I NEEDED TO CONTACT THEM THEN. I GAVE 3500 FOR THIS TRUCK ON OCTOBER 21,2010 AND WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY SAFETY ISSUES. TRUCK HAS GREAT BODY,CLEAN INTERIOR, NO OIL ANYWHERE ON ENGINE, LOOKS AS GOOD AS NEW. NEVER WOULD THINK THE FRAME WAS ALMOST RUSTED INTO ON IN. FROM BRACKET INFRONT OF REAR TIRE THRU TILL BEHIND FRONT TIRE IS RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR. I HAD JUST PURCHASED 425.00 NEW TIRES AND PUT ON IT. NOW ITS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH, AT FIRST THEY SAID IT COULD BE FIXED A WEEK LATER THEY TOLD US IT WAS STAGE 5 AND COULD NOT BE FIXED. THE DEALER ALSO WRIGHT AUTO SAID THEY SENT IN FORMS AND PICTURES TO ISUZU, STILL WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT OUR SUV FOR A MONTH. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, WE PURCHASED THIS SUV IN GOOD FAITH THAT IT WAS BUILT RIGHT, WE LOVED THIS VEHICLE AND NOW WE ARE LEFT HANGING WITH NO WORD FROM ANYONE. WE HAD TO KEEP CALLING THE DEALER AND WOULD WAIT ON HOLD FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND STILL NO ONE IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HE LOST CONTROL WHEN THE REAR AXLE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND REAR OF SUV VEERED OFF. HE RECOVERED THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD. A LARGE PIECE OF THE SUSPENSION BAR THAT CONNECTED TO REAR AXLE WAS DETACHED FROM FRAME OF VEHICLE. HE DROVE SUV SLOWLY HOME THE REMAINING TWO BLOCKS. UPON INSPECTION BY MECHANIC (AND MYSELF) IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR STABILIZATION ARM TO THE AXLE WAS RUSTED TO THE EXTENT THAT IT SNAPPED OFF THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE LOCATION OF WHERE THE BAR ATTACHED TO VEHICLE WAS ALSO RUSTED. THE MECHANIC ESTIMATED THAT THE BAR WOULD NEED TO BE WELDED BACK ON TO THE FRAME, HOWEVER, THE CORROSION ON THE FRAME WAS SUCH THAT THERE MIGHT NOT EVEN BE A POSSIBLE WELD SPOT. THE OTHER SIDE OF REAR SUSPENSION (PASSENGER SIDE) WAS ALSO HIGHLY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO BE DRIVEN RIGHT NOW. *TR

AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. PURCHASED 1999 ISUZU RODEO IN JUNE, WHEN I TOOK IT FOR INSPECTION, IT WOULDN'T PASS. TOOK THE CAR TO A WELDING/FRAME SPECIALIST TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. HE DEEMED THE CAR UNFIXABLE BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. HE SAID IT WOULD NEED AN ENTIRE NEW FRAME TO MAKE IT SAFE TO DRIVE. HE LOOKED UNTIL DEC FOR AN ACCEPTABLE FRAME UNTIL HE SAID, JUST TAKE IT TO ISUZU, I CANT LOCATE THE PARTS NEEDED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO ISUZU ON DEC 29TH FOR THEM TO INFORM ME I WAS PAST THE RECALL WARRANTY DATE. I EXPLAINED MY SITUATION, AND THEY DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR IT. THESE JUNK FRAMES ARE GOING TO KILL SOMEONE, THE PROBLEM ISN'T JUST THE REAR MOUNTING BRACKET. MY ENTIRE FRAME IS ROTTED THROUGH. IN FACT, IN THE 60 MILES IT TOOK FOR MY CAR TO BE TOWED FROM THE REPAIR SHOP TO ISUZU, MY SPARE TIRE ACTUALLY FELL OFF MY RODEO BECAUSE OF THE CORROSION. VARIOUS OTHER TIMES WE WOULD BE DRIVING AND ESPECIALLY DURING WET ROAD CONDITIONS THE BRAKES MADE A NOISE CAUSING THE TIRES TO ROTATE PREMATURELY IN AN UNCONTROLLABLE SLIDING MOTION.IN 2011 WE TOOK OUR RODEO IN ON RECALL NO. 10V-436, (EXCESSIVE CORROSION MAY RESULT IN THE LEFT OR RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION LOWER LINK BRACKET BECOMING DETACHED FROM THE FRAME, WHICH CAN AFFECT VEHICLE HANDLING AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH.) THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE INSPECTION WHICH WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RECALL SHOULD NOT BE PERFORMED. DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION THE REINFORCEMENT BRACKET REMEDY WOULD NOT BE APPROPRIATE. IN ORDER TO PERFORM THIS RECALL THE BODY IS DETACHED FROM THE FRAME AND IF CORROSION IS PRESENT ON THE FRAME THIS RECALL WOULD ONLY CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGES WEAKENING THE FRAME MAKING IT UNSAFE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE FRAMES SHOULD BE RECALLED ALSO! THE FRAMES ALSO HAVE EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND ALSO ONCE A FRAME IS COMPROMISED IT'S WEAKENED! BY DOING THIS RECALL IT DIMINSHES THE INTEGRITY OF THE FRAME ANYWAY. THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER BRACKET BROKE OFF THE FRAME DUE TO RUSTING OUT ALSO. THE DRIVER SIDE UPPER SPRING SEAT HAD RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT IT BENT UP AGAINST THE FLOOR OF THE BODY. I HAVE LOOKED AT SEVERAL RODEOS AT DEALER LOTS THAT ARE GOING TO BREAK THE LINK, AND FOUND MOST OF THE FRAMES ARE LIKE MINE, ROTTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT ! THAT NEEDS TO BE THE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I THINK THE ISSUE WITH THE FRAME NEEDS TO BE COVERED BY THE RECALL AS THE SHEETMETAL FLOOR JUST NEXT TO THE ROTTED FRAME IS GOOD AS NEW.... . I HAVE A 1999 ISUZU RODEO IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR I WAS DRIVING ON RTE 104 IN NEW HAMPTON NH AT OR ABOUT 7:30 AM. I WAS ACCELERATING UP HILL WHEN THE REAR OF THE RODEO ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SUDDENLY LIFTED UP AND PUT THE RODEO INTO A HARD LEFT TURN, INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT A POINT IN THE ROAD THAT HAS A RISING SPEED LIMIT TO 50 MPH. I REACTED AS QUICKLY AS I COULD AND LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND TURNED HARD RIGHT . I MISSED THE ON COMING 10 WHEEL DUMP TRUCK BY MERE INCHES WITH HIS HORN BLASTING AT ME AND THE PICK UP TRUCK BEHIND ME LOCKED UP THERE BRAKES AND ALMOST RAN INTO ME. I SLOWED AND PULLED AS FAR AS I COULD OFF THE ROAD AS THERE WAS NOT TOO MUCH ROOM . I GOT IT TRAILERED TO A SHOP WHERE WE DISCOVERED THE LOWER SUSPENSION LINK HAD BROKEN FROM THE FRAME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IN NO WAY REPRESENTS THE CONDITION OF THE REST OF MY VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS NOT A NEW CAR BUT THERE ARE ALOT OF THESE ON THE ROAD AND I FEEL , LOOKING AT MY FRAME THAT IT HAS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND IS TRULY DIFFICULT TO DETECT UNTIL IT IS TOO FAR GONE. AFTER HAVING THIS CAR ON A LIFT AND SEEING WHAT APPEARS TO BE SMALL SURFACE RUST SPOTS IS ACTUALLY CRUMBLING AWAY FROM THE INSIDE. I HAVE SEEN SOME RECALL INFO ON THE ISSUE THAT I HAVE, ALTHOUGH I HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTICE AS OF YET I FEEL THE ISSUE IS WORSE THAN DESCRIBED. I HAVE LOOKED AT A FEW AT DEALERS AND IN LOCAL PARKING LOTS AND THEY LOOK LIKE MINE. I HAVE ALSO FELT THAT MOST OF THEM WERE IN GOOD SHAPE OTHERWISE AND THE FEW PEOPLE I SPOKE TO WERE UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 160,000.

DRIVING FROM THE PITTSBURGH AIRPORT PARKING LOT ON A SIDE ROAD. APPROXIMATELY 2 MIN AFTER DRIVING THE CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST CONTROL - NO STEERING OR BRAKES. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE CAR VEERED ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD I MANAGED TO MISS ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND JUST MISSED GOING DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. BEFORE COMING TO A STOP THERE WAS A 'POPPING' NOISE FROM THE CAR. UPON LOOKING UNDER THE CAR ONE OF THE MEMBERS HAS SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE ISUZU AGENCY IN WEXFORD, PITTSBURGH UPON INSPECTION THE CAR WAS DEEMED 'DANGEROUS' AND BEYOND REPAIR AS THE CAR NEEDED A NEW FRAME DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. THE CAR REMAINS AT THE ISUZU AGENCY WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION DUE TO THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THE DAMAGE - WHICH I CAN CERTAINLY ADVOCATE THE REST OF THE CAR HAS BEEN EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED AND WE ENVISIONED MANY MORE YEARS OF CAREFUL DRIVING THIS MANUFACTURING ERROR SHOULD BE RECTIFIED BEFORE SOMEONE IS EITHER BADLY INJURED OR INDEED KILLED BY THIS INFERIOR DESIGN. *TR

THERE WAS REALLY NO WHERE TO PULL OFF AND I WAS ABOUT A QUARTER MILE FROM MY WORK'S PARKING LOT SO I DROVE SLOWLY, ABOUT 5 MPH BACK TO THE PARKING LOT (SHAKING). IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING BUT FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT ON A HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE, INJURED SOMEBODY ELSE! MY HUSBAND ARRIVED AND LOOKED UNDER THE RODEO AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE UNDERNEATH FRAME HAD BEEN COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT WITH THE REAR STABILIZER BAR DETACHED FROM THE FRAME. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FRAME SPECIALIST ONLY TO FIND THE CAR IS NOT REPAIRABLE AND VIRTUALLY WORTH $0. IT IS A 1999 RODEO LSE AND I BOUGHT IT USED BUT HAVE HAD IT FOR 9 YEARS AND IT IS STILL IN GREAT SHAPE. THE BODY IS PERFECT AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AT ALL. I FOUND THAT THE SPARE TIRE MOUNTS HAD ALMOST COMPLETELY ROTTED AWAY AND THE TIRE WAS READY TO FALL OFF. LOOKING OVER THE REST OF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE LEFT CONTROL ARM MOUNT HAD ALMOST ROTTED OFF. MASSIVE HOLES WERE IN THE SIDE OF THE FRAME, ON BOTH SIDES. THE SPRING PERCHES WERE MOSTLY ROTTED OFF AND PUSHED UP AGAINST THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE REAR BUMPER HAD FALLEN OFF. BASICALLY THE VEHICLE IS A MESS IN THE BACK AND UNSAFE FOR THE ROAD WHICH IS A SHAME BECAUSE IT RUNS GREAT AND LOOKS DECENT. BECAUSE OF WHAT I HAVE FOUND. THE REAR FRAME HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT MY MECHANIC SAYS I NEED TO SPLICE IN A NEW REAR FRAME. PRETTY MUCH THE CAR CAN'T BE FIXED, SOLD, OR DRIVEN AND IT'S 9 YEARS OLD. FUEL SENDING UNIT/GAS GAUGE LIGHT FLASHING EMPTY WHEN CAR IS FULL OF GAS. ABS LIGHT NEVER GOES OUT ...HAD RECALL REPAIRED DASH LIGHTS..CAR IS IN PARK BUT LIGHT ON DASH IS IN (N)..LIGHT ON GEAR SHIFT IS DEAD REAR WINSHIELD WIPER JUST STOPPED WORKING RUBBER SEAL AROUND REAR HATCHBACK WINDOW DRY ROTTED CAUSING WINDOW TO SHATTER AND BREAK WHILE CAR WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS. CAR SLIDING THROUGH STOP LIGHT WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO STOP OR WHEN SITTING STILL CAR WILL IDLE AND CAUSE CAR TO MOVE WHILE FOOT IS ON BRAKES. HUMMING/RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM UNDERCARRIAGE OF THESE COMPLAINTS ARE POSTED ON SEVERAL COMPLAINT WEBSITES AND THEY ALL PERTAIN TO MY 1999 RODEO AS WELL AS THOUSANDS OF OTHERS. MY RODEO WAS PURCHASED IN 2003 AND I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS EXCEPT FOR THE ABS ONE AND I LEARNED ABOUT THAT FROM A RELATIVE WHO HAS THE SAME VEHICLE. IF SOMETHING BREAKS DOWN OR STOPS WORKING ON HERS I CAN EXPECT IT TO OCCUR WITH MINE OR VISA VERSA. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE..I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO PURCHASE AN ISIZU RODEO IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT.
