The vehicle has experienced the Traction Battery Fault three times, which is the warning signal provided when there is a main battery fault situation. During the latest incident, the warning appeared and shortly afterward the vehicle emitted white smoke with an electrical odor and crackling from the front undercarriage. Emergency services were contacted through 911, and firefighters disconnected the 12V battery to stabilize the vehicle. Two previous traction-battery-related repair attempts were performed by Jaguar, and a third repair is currently underway. The repeated failure of the high-voltage traction battery system represents a potential fire risk and electrical hazard. I am reporting this incident to ensure NHTSA is aware of this high-voltage safety defect.

Vehicle began flashing Traction Battery Warnings along with warnings to stop driving car. I had been parking car outside for two years since notification from JLR to keep car outside and away from structures. Set up appointment for next day to have car towed to dealership, and asked them to attempt the latest software upgrade, understanding that it would not solve problem, but might make the car safe to drive. That same day, received buyback letter from JLR. Called dealer, told them to just try the update, nothing else. They asked me to pay $325 to inspect car. I refused and stated I was calling Morley as indicated in received letter. Called Morley, gave them information and followed up in email with all requested documentation. Morley advised me to keep the car at the dealership as they would be handling the buyback. Informed dealership that that was the plan. A few days later, Morley indicated that they would be settling the case by paying my KBB value, despite the fact that I am in California. I hired an attorney, who contacted Morley. We heard nothing for several weeks, during which time the dealership contacted me and insist I remove my car as they had heard nothing from Morley in the prior 30 days. The dealership tried to have me pay for services I did not authorize, and had taken apart and removed the windshield wiper and grill and interior covers under hood and had not reinstalled, nor were they in the car. The car was left on their lot, which an acknowledged rodent problem, for 30 days. Morley then insisted that the attorney work directly with JLR NA. Attorney sent demand to them on April 26 , but one month later w have heard nothing. The car does not drive, and is stored outside on my driveway. 60 days in, and we have no contact from JLR, let alone a satisfactory resolution.

My card displayed "Gearbox fault detected" on the instrument panel cluster. According to Jaguar Land Rover Technical Bulletin JLRTB0 2012 NAS3 released August 14, 2020, this could result in the car abruptly stopping when vehicle speed has reduced to 5 km/h (3 mph). The cause mentioned is "No retention to the front Electric Drive Unit (EDU) causing strain on the wiring going to the EDU parking lock actuator connector (C1YE113A). My JLR dealer in Naperville, IL, told me that the 2019 model wire was a few inches short and JLR fixed this in 2022 by adding a few more inches to the wire. However, the cost to fix this was $6700 since they had to take everything out of the car to fix this. Apparently, this issue has caused recalls in Norway and the U.K. but there was no recall for this issue in the USA. Besides being a danger to the public (if the car stops in the middle of the road with little warning), not including the US in the recall makes me feel JLR didn't do right by their customers in the US. I opened a Case {[XXX]} with JLR and their response was that I did not avail of recall H484, wherein I am supposed to buy a new 2024 Jaguar iPace and they would refund me $35,000 for my car. I was not ready to invest another $50,000 in a replacement. I was also given the impression that the only reason for the H484 recall were because batteries were catching on fire, so I agreed to get a new battery. When they replaced the battery, they could have also replaced the wiring going to the parking lock actuator connector (C1YE113A) so that I (in addition to other USA 2019 Jaguar owners) would have been safer and we would not have had to incur $6700 expense now to get this wiring fixed. In connection with Recall H514, my 2019 Jaguar I-Pace (SADHD2S16K1 F76172) had a battery fire risk that led Jaguar to issue a software update. Without prior notice, the update permanently disabled full battery function by capping the vehicle’s charge at 80%, significantly reducing range and usability. The update was irreversible and materially changed the safety and performance of the electric vehicle. After being forced to seek a replacement, I purchased a 2020 Jaguar I-Pace (SADHD2S17L1F81804). During transport of the 2020 vehicle home, it exhibited an “Electrical Battery Fault” warning, raising serious concerns about the continued reliability and safety of Jaguar’s battery systems even after the recall. This ongoing pattern of battery issues places consumers at risk of fire, vehicle immobilization, or loss of propulsion. Jaguar’s recall remedy has proven ineffective at fully addressing the underlying electrical and propulsion safety issues.

Jaguar Land Rover North America (JLR) continues to neglect its federal recall obligations for the 2019 I-PACE under recalls H441, H514, and H536, exposing owners to serious fire risks. Despite multiple recall efforts, thermal overload incidents persist, proving JLR’s interim remedies—software updates and charging restrictions—are ineffective. JLR admits in its notices that affected vehicles remain unsafe, yet fails to resolve the defect or provide fair compensation. The only remedy is a manufacturer buyback, but JLR systematically undervalues offers, basing them on depressed Kelley Blue Book (KBB) values from Oct 2024 instead of pre-defect values minus reasonable depreciation. This forces owners into financial losses while JLR’s delays further erode resale value. JLR has refused to provide clear documentation on its buyback calculations, delayed responses to affected owners, and employed coercive tactics, telling consumers to accept flawed offers or risk future depreciation. In March 2023, nine months after purchasing our I-PACE, we experienced the first of three "Traction Battery Faults," narrowly avoiding fire. Since then, our vehicle has been restricted to an 80% charge, reducing range by 26% while still requiring outdoor parking due to fire risk. JLR’s failure to act promptly violates federal safety standards and leaves affected vehicles as potential hazards in public spaces. I urge NHTSA to investigate and enforce timely recall remedies, fair valuation processes, and immediate buyback completion. Owners should not be receiving emails like this. "It appears that we cannot agree on the repurchase of your MY2019 Jaguar I-PACE impacted by recall H514/H536. Please note that this final recall remedy will remain open on your vehicle. In the future, should you decide to accept the H536 final recall remedy (repurchase) for your MY2019 Jaguar I-PACE, the amount offered at that time may not be the same as today, due to depreciation, age, and mileage."

We were getting repeated warnings that the vehicle's main battery had errors. We took it in repeatedly, and kept getting the errors. After taking it in after the H514 buyback program was announced, the dealer, Jaguar Landrover Manhattan, told us they're not even going to attempt repair (the vehicle is under full warranty), since we're just going to get the car repurchased by JLR. We've been waiting for the buyback for going on two months now, nothing has happened.

Car recalled with buy back remedy under 24V-633 and H514 recalls. Timely resolution has not been provided as it has been over 5 months since the H514 recall and it is not reasonable to expect a customer to park and charge outside while limiting charge to 80%. The hazard has not been mitigated with no attempt by Jaguar to contact us to buy back the car in the past 5 months (told we'd be contacted within the next few weeks in December 2024). Attempted to contact JLR customer service relationship center on 4/7/25 with high call wait time.

UNKNOWN Respected Sir/Madam, This is in relation to recall H536 under which Jaguar has decided to do a forced buyback with lowball offer and no repair option is offered causing me heavy loss to get a similar replacement car or continue to drive unsafe car which can cause severe bodily injury or property damage. The NHSTA guidance for remedy as mentioned on the page 12 of document for "Motor Vehicle Safety Defects and Recalls" (link below) requires manufacturer to repair, replace or refund with reasonable allowance but I don't see Jaguar is offering reasonable allowance as their offered prices are based on the October/2024 date while the fire risk was already known from 2023 via recall H441. So I wanted to understand how NHSTA can help in this case and force Jaguar to take reasonable steps to resolve this situation. [XXX] Thanks, [XXX] P.S. I am selecting the incident date of [XXX] as this was the date I received the email related to buyback process. Jaguar is not being forthcoming or acting in good faith in the process of the final remedy for the NHTSA Recall Number24V-633. They contacted me and provided an offer which I do not believe reflects the true value of my vehicle. I would have kept this car on which I owe nothing for another 5 years or more. The car was $80K new kept in mint condition and has a 100,000 mile warranty on the battery. It has 52,000 miles on it now. They made a small improvement in the offer after I complained but I am being forced to sell the vehicle back to Jaguar and purchase a new one or put myself and others at risk of injury or property damage due to this battery fire risk. They are providing no documentation of the offer amount they are providing which appears to be KBB from Oct 2024. The KBB for this car is diminished due to the battery issues which are the root of this recall. In addition to acquire a replacement vehicle I will need to spend time and money (sales tax, registration fees) for which they appear to be ignoring in the offer. They are also dragging the process out given how long ago this issue was identified. Seems it is the same issue that Chevy and others have dealt with from LG batteries, so why when Jaguar agreed with NHTSA to repurchase these vehicles in November 2024 are they not being responsive during the repurchase process. Is there anything we can do to improve this? I'm only asking them to come up from $27K to $30K to make the offer reasonable - not great but at least not insulting.

We started having issues with the battery back in 2023. Smaller batteries were replaced, and the car went in several times for "updates" due to recalls. The last two times were due to potential over-heating of the battery and a "track fault detected" error message displayed on the dash and the mileage decreased. Most recently the car was in the shop for 2 weeks early 2025 to replace a faulty cell in the larger battery. This was the most recent recall "fixing" the issue -- but when we received the car it wouldn't charge past 80%, meaning it was not fixed and able to charge to 100%. A letter received 3/19/25 confirmed the issue was indeed not fixed and that these cars needed to be purchased back in order to comply with safety measures. These cars are literal moving fire hazards. We have a short driveway and the car is next to our house and I am scared to have it on my property. The offers being sent are absolutely unacceptable, not even enough to cover what is remaining on the car loan. The purchasers of these cars should not be held accountable FINANCIALLY for the deplorable actions of LG and Jaguar/Land Rover.

My car has been limited to charging only to 70%. I often smell a kind of burning plastic when driving, but no smoke or fire. In addition the console display often freezes up or is completely blank.

Mar 17, 2025

Last November I got a recall notice saying Jaguar would buy back my car. It is now March and Jaguar has yet to initiate the buyback. I have called the Jaguar 800 number and they confirm my car is part of the buyback but will not provide a timeline. They say that since they are buying back thousands of cars I just have to keep waiting until they contact me, but it has been 4 months now and I am beginning to doubt it they have any intention of actually buying it back.

On January 28, 2025, I filed an online complaint #11639036 with you regarding Jaguar Land Rover of North America's (JLRNA) failure to comply with mandated Recall #23V637 concerning my 2019 Jaguar I-Pace (VIN [XXX] ------). During a follow-up call with your office on February 5, I emphasized the urgent nature of my complaint due to the safety risk at hand and attempted to clarify that this was not a new complaint, but regarding an existing recall. Yet, I have not received any form of response from your office over these last 4 weeks. Therefore, I am submitting this letter via certified mail/return receipt to ensure official acknowledgment of my complaint. Summary of Non-Compliance: Jaguar Land Rover North America (JLRNA) is in violation of U.S. Code Title 49, Subtitle VI, Part A, Chapter 301, Subchapter II, Section 30120, specifically regarding the unreasonable delay in remedying Recall #23V637, issued on November 18, 2024. Per the recall notice, JLRNA committed to reacquiring affected vehicles, including mine. Despite my full compliance with au necessary recall-mandated steps, JLRNA has failed to provide the required remedy, nor have they processed any payment or reacquisition of my vehicle. Section 30120 of the statute states: •(2) Failure to repair a motor vehicle or replacement equipment adequately within 60 days after its presentation is prima facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time. •(3) If the Secretary determines that a manufacturer's remedy program is not likely to be completed within a reasonable time, the Secretary may require the manufacturer to accelerate the remedy program if there is a risk of serious injury or death. Since the recall was issued over 90 days ago, and JLRNA has not complied with its obligations, I am requesting that the Secretary of Transportation conduct a hearing to determine whether JLRNA has met the reasonable remedy requirements under §30120. The delay in compliance has placed my family and me at significant risk due to the fire hazard associated with th

used as daily drive for commute to work, each return to home, i would put it on the 7.5kw juicebox level 2 charger- this worked well since april 2024, until march 2025- upon returned from work, i place it on charge, and immediately went into "charging status error", with another message after disconnecting the charger port, "High voltage error but is ok to drive" message. Thinking it was a fluke, i let it sit few days, unplugged, and then attempted to check battery status on the driver dash screen, "high voltage error but is ok to drive" msg reappeared, i shut it off, waited 10 minutes, plugged in the charger that came with the car, 1.2kw charger, opened the driver door, waited for the screen to come on and display the battery charging status, to no avail. "Charging status:error" and in all red, and a red triangle on the right side of the dash display was present, along with brake error. I unplugged it, and attempted to move it further away from my house in case there is a problem i can't see, to no avail, i can not move it. the software updater shows no update available for the vehicle or for the infotainment center. the nearest dealer for me is over 40miles from me (rural area)- i have sent emails to JLR, and have not received acknowledgement or any replies.

Car has completely failed several times in the middle of busy streets including the freeway on ramp. Jag has replaced the 12v battery once, tried to update software and now the car is totally inoperable. Los Angeles Jag dealer has had the car for 5 months with no definitive communication nor reliable timeline. I have been told the car will be repaired and delivered for months, now they say Jag will not repair but I have not been contacted for the buyback. I need transportation. I need help to get them to expedite and pay me a the fair value.

Several battery modules have been replaced in less than two years of ownership. Spoke w JLR , they will contact me soon. It’s been almost 10 months and I have not heard back. My vehicle range has been incredibly reduced, thereby restricting driving range. Unable to charge for fear of property damage. Please assist with expediting this matter. Thanks.

Dear Sir, JLR is purposefully delaying repairing our cars, replacing the battery. They reduced our charging capacity to 80% as part of the H514 recall to avoid battery fires which makes the car unusable for long drives. Now as part of the recall H536, they are purchasing our vehicle at KBB value as of October 2024 which is low balling us. Car prices have taken major hit because of the battery issues/recall. I have a question relating to Recall 24V-633/H536. On your website the status is listed as: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available. The Jaguar recall website lists the status as: Repair Description: As a final remedy, JLR will reacquire vehicles from affected customers. It is reported that Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is offering customers a buyback amount based on Kelley Blue Book (KBB) valuations as of 18 Oct 2024. This is the date that H536 was made public. However, on page 12 of your publication titled, "Motor Vehicle Safety Defects and Recalls: What Every Vehicle Owner Should Know", it states the following: "In the case of a vehicle recall, the manufacturer may choose to repair the vehicle at no charge; replace the vehicle with an identical or similar vehicle; or refund the purchase price in full, minus a reasonable allowance for depreciation." Question: If your stated remedy requires a manufacturer to "refund the purchase price in full...", how is it that JLR is allowed to remedy this unresolveable safety hazard with something other than full purchase price? Please provide details that include statutes if applicable. Thank you for your speedy response. This vehicle is a lemon. The electrical system has major fault. The vehicle stops randomly even when it is in motion, which is a major hazard in itself. Plus, the car battery is a fire risk. This vehicle is a weapon with potential to kill buyer, family, and friends, and cause property damage to anything nearby. It would possibly lead to a California-wide wide fire as well.

Fire danger for years in my 2019 jaguar ipace. Unable to solve. Resolution is finally to buy vehicle back, no action 4 months now waiting for action. In addition to 13 months in the shop. This is not prompt as they claim and it continues to be used on public roads, carrying passengers, parking and chaging in congested areas including next to hospitals due to the inaction. Someone needs to force forward motion before someone gets hurt.

I was notified on the 6th of November 2024 of a H514 safety Recall; it is now the 19th of February 2025 with no fix communicated. This is beyond what I believe is 'a reasonable amount of time' to remedy this defect.

Car has been in and out of the shop over past year and a half. 6 months in the shop and now under recall H536 since December. Have called multiple times and keep being told will be contacted in a few weeks. No contact at all and car is limited to 80% charge. This keeps going on with no resolution and I cant make a move on another car until they settle this. Incompetent handling of this situation. Car is supposed to be repurchase by Jaguar.

I have had no communication from the dealer and or Jaguar on time frame or next steps. When calling no one seems to have an answer. I have been in 9 different rental vehicles, and currently have to provide my own means of alternative transportation.

There is a recall regarding fire danger with the battery. No solution to fire issue. We are left with a dangerous car still subject to fire potential, as well as significantly degraded range due to a software update forced on the car by the recall.

Feb 15, 2025

I was informed over three months ago of the battery problem with a chance of fires. I’ve been calling JLR, and keep getting told the same thing: that they are in the process of reaching out to customers to buy back the vehicles since they can’t fix the problem, and “someone should be in touch in about 2 weeks”. Nobody has contacted me via either phone or email. My last calls to them were on 1/31 and 2/15. Same response. Given this is a serious condition, how can they wait for 3 months?? I would like to get to resolution soon so that there are no safety issues that I have to constantly worry about.

After my Jaguar IPace was reprogrammed by the dealer for the 5th time in December, my mirrors have folding out issues, lane assist is malfunctioning, and there is a "coolant" warning and "service required" warning lights on my dash (Again). The Jaguar dealer has no information on and further updates or battery replacement. This car is now parked outside in case it catches fire per my recall instructions from Jaguar. How do I get a remedy for this?

Feb 13, 2025

My vehicle was recalled due to safety issues relating to the potential for the high voltage battery to catch fire(Recall H514- 24V633000). The interim fix was to reduce the capability of the vehicle to 80% charge, which negated the need to park away from structures. This was completed by my dealer in Nov 2024. The final fix for this issue was for the vehicle to be repurchased "As quickly as possible". A new recall was announced in February 2025 (H536-24V-633. In this recall the following statement is very worrying "Owners who have previously had their vehicle updated with the improved diagnostic software are under the impression that their vehicle is protected from thermal overload which, for 2019 model year vehicles may not be the case." . I do not believe based on that statement that my vehicle is safe. I have not heard anything from Jaguar since Nov 6th 2024 and although I have called and emailed them they say you will hear something in the next couple of weeks, now 3 months later I am no nearer the promised repurchase and I have a potentially unsafe vehicle parked in my garage.

Feb 13, 2025

Jaguar contacted me multiple times now about safety recalls. Subsequently they performed a service which reduced the range of the EV from 230 miles to 170 miles, rendering it largely unusable for my driving needs. In addition according to their latest document, the “fix” may not eliminate the fire risk as we use the car. I have contacted them for 3 times now and they keep saying “soon” I will be contacted about a buy back because they are unable to fix the car and return it to spec. The car was also still in warranty. I do not believe JLR is proceeding at a reasonable pace as months have gone by since the earliest notices, not only inconveniencing and effectively defrauding its customers but also keeping our safety at risk. I am hoping NHTSA can intervene with Jaguar to do the right thing and honor their commitment to NHTSA and customers.

I have been trying for 3 months to get a status update on the buyback for my 2019 Jaguar I-pace. I have had my car updated with software fixes that doesn’t prevent a fire, and reduces the charging ability to 80% range which severely limits driving range, especially in winter. In addition, I have been instructed to not park inside as structures can catch on fire. I am feeling very unsafe with the fire risk on this car. Jaguar dealership can’t answer questions about next steps on the buyback, and Jaguar North America continues to offer little details on when we will be contacted and appears to be dragging out situation. We are walking on eggshells trying to figure out what to do, and just parking it outside and not using our I-pace. Really want resolution on this super frustrating and potential dangerous car situation.

With respect to this recall: Nov 18,2024 Manufacturer Recall NumberH536 NHTSA Recall Number24V-633 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Remedy As a final remedy, JLR will reacquire vehicles from affected customers. JLR has not reached out to me on the next steps and I'm driving around with a vehicle with a known risk including thermal overload. JLR shouldn't have an indefinite timeline to execute the final remedy, reacquire of vehicle. I submitted a reacquire request to JLR customer service in Nov. 2024, but have yet to hear back from JLR after 3 months.

I was informed of a recall (H514) to my 2019 Jaguar I-Pace stating that the vehicle would be reacquired by the manufacturer because of battery thermal overload defects that could not be remedied. I have contacted Jaguar's customer service hotline for the recall numerous times by telephone and email between November 2024 and now (February 2024). I am repeatedly given misinformation that the Jaguar buyback specialist team will be reaching out to me within the next few days, or next few weeks. I was originally told I would be contacted in early December, then told it would be no later than the end of December. I have reconfirmed on several occasions that they have my correct phone and email contact information. There has been no communication whatsoever about next steps for the buyback, other than to tell us to continue to wait. I confirmed with the Jaguar customer hotline that no one has opened a case on my vehicle, yet and that I must just continue to wait. In the meantime, we are instructed by the recall that the car may have a battery thermal overload while parked, that we cannot charge to more than 80% capacity, and that it must be parked outdoors rather than in the garage. I have patiently waited for 3 months under these very limiting conditions to my car, with severely reduced driving range and risk that my car could overheat and cause a fire or smoke at any time while parked. Jaguar either is highly disorganized or they are deliberately refusing to comply within a reasonable time period with the recall buyback remedy. Please order Jaguar to contact its affected recall customers and to reacquire the vehicles without further delay, which is a safety risk to everyone.

error code "gear box fault" I was not able to put the vehicle in gear. The vehicle had to be towed to jaguar service, I was told needs front compartment wire harness replaced. The codes are the same as noted in the JLR technical bulletin shows it was a known problem and design error was released as service action as per TSB I was given the repair estimate of $5087, my vehicle is out of warranty and not covered. This was a known problem in the design flaw and should apply in or out of warranty. Prior to this incident about year ago, while driving battery fault light came on traction fault and while on the highway my car would not accelerate then shut down fortunately I was able to get help to get the car off the road. I see that the gear box fault is documented multicable times in the forum, so I contacted jaguar to see if they are going to take responsibility for the repair and told no. I'm very concern with this vehicle seems jaguar is aware of its many faults.

I own a 2019 Jaguar I-Pace, VIN SADHD2S14K1XXXXXX, that has been subject to multiple recalls because of an ongoing fire hazard related to tl1e high voltage battery. The "traction battery fault" indicator has returned to my dashboard only one month after five battery modules were replaced by my local Jaguar dealer. I am currently able to charge my car to only 70% of its maximum and have been unable to get any helpful response from my local Jaguar dealer nor Jaguar Land Rover North America. My car has functioned nearly perfectly up until 2 days after I received notice of the first traction battery recall over one year ago. Since that time, I have had my car in the Jaguar dealership on 7 different occasions to either diagnose or make repairs related to the traction battery fault. Each of these visits is associated with several days of loss of use of my car. A single traction battery module was replaced by my dealer in April of 2024 and an additional five modules replaced in October. I have not been charged for any of these repairs, but my dealer has been far from sympathetic and each of these diagnosis and repair visits has been accompanied by warnings that I might be held financially responsible for the service. About one month after the latest battery repair, the traction battery fault indicator has returned. I have recently received another advisory that I should have my car adjusted so that it cannot charge above 70% max. As this is already the status of my car, I see no need to take the car in for this adjustment. Despite emails and phone calls to my dealer and to Jaguar Land Rover NA, I have not received any information on a way forward. Since the first recall, I have been advised not to park my car within a parking structure because of fire risk. This is impossible for me and there is no location that I can park my car for work where a fire would not pose a substantial risk to surrounding people and property. I would like Jaguar to replace my traction battery and resolve this problem once and for all. Thank y

All 2019 Jaguar I-Pace's were subject to numerous recalls due to battery issues for fire risk. The latest recall limited range and battery to 80% and its stated that ALL 2019 would be bought back. It has been months and Jaguar has yet to offer any recourse. I have called and emailed and keep getting told a specialised team would be contacting me in 2 weeks. Its been 3 Months and they same thing is being said. My vehicle is a fire hazard so I am constantly in fear that it will catch fire in my drive way (cannot park in garage per instructions) and potentially catch house on fire. Furthermore, we cannot functionally use car as intended as the range is severely limited. I would like to have Jaguar move forward swiftly with the buyback, as from what I can ascertain they will use KBB valuation but since the notification of buyback the value of I-Paces has precipitously fallen as they drag their feet. I have attached the notification on Jaguar's Recall portal with the following language: Repair Description As referenced in the previous letter, your vehicle will, as an interimcondition, have the maximum state of charge altered to 80%. This will protect your vehicle until the re-purchase is complete. The maximum driving range of your vehicle will be reduced accordingly. There will be no charge to owners for this repair.Separately, Jaguar will reach out to you and seek to work with you to arrange the re-purchase of your vehicle, with the aim of completing this as quickly as possible.

My 2019 First Edition I-Pace is subject to Jaguar recall H514, as per both the NHTSA and Jaguar web sites the solution is to repurchase the vehicle from me AFTER decreasing my max charge to 80% significantly reducing my available range, to the point I cannot rely on the vehicle for trips I was able to complete with no issue prior to the reduction in max charge. I have called Jaguar multiple times, as well as sending them email requesting status, in every contact the response from Jaguar has been as follows: "Customers affected by the H514 recall will be contacted in the coming weeks by a specialized team dedicated to handling this process. This team will provide detailed information and discuss available options for your vehicle." My last communication from Jaguar was Jan 6th. It is now two plus weeks post the last email, and still no contact from Jaguar, while driving a car that does not meet the specifications as stated by Jaguar when I bought the car. At this point it appears that Jaguar is purposely dragging their feet to induce owners to take the drastic action of trying to trade their car in on something different, when it is well known the cars are effectively non sellable due to the battery issues. Again, reading numerous owner forums some owners have just given up and are buying a replacement vehicle and dealing on their own trying to dispose of their 2019 I-Pace. My understanding is that once it was determined that repurchase was the only recourse that the NHTSA has an expectation of timely response from Jaguar to owners on completing this unfortunate process. Clearly, just from my own experience, this has not been an expedited process. I am hopeful that NHTSA can provide some leverage with Jaguar to actually execute on this process in a good faith and a timely manner. Owners purchased these vehicles in good faith, and expect good faith response by Jaguar to a problem not created by the owners. Thank you

My car has failed while driving four different times. Each time I am driving on a busy road, I get a "traction battery fault" warning, then the vehicle loses the ability to drive and completely shuts down. Each time leaving me and my family stranded in the middle of the road. These events have happened on 10/1/2023; 4/1/2024; 7/16/2024; and 12/20/2024. My car is still in the shop undiagnosed from the 12/20/2024 incident today 1/20/2025. A month. I have had to pay for battery replacements, rentals, towing, etc. now well past $10,000.

Our car has been identified by Jaguar as part of the recall and we completed the software update to restrict battery charging. We opened a case with Jaguar on Nov 4, 2024 and were promised weekly updates. To date we have received NO updates or communication. We spoke to a representative last week and was told a dedicated team is working the cases but they have no ability to speak with the team. Additionally, I asked to be escalated to a manager to know where our case is and when we could expect a proposal for next steps. The Rep told us a call back will take 8 business weeks and that manager would have no information about our case. We are looking for an update and what the next steps are.

My vehicle is part of the jaguar recall H514. I have started the buyback process with jaguar and they are being slow and now I have a car that is only charging to 80% and I am scared to drive it. when I reach out to Jaguar they tell there is a process and that this will all take time. My issues is that it was me who started the process and per your recall notice they were supposed to contact vehicle owners and begin the process. It seems like its cut and dry and there toll free customer service line is not helpful.

I have had issues with this car in terms of the various batteries. some of this has caused other issues with other components such as the brakes. I was driving last week on the freeway when my traction battery light came on and the brakes basically stopped working (Its was hard to press the brake pedal). The when i start it it again everything working fine. I took it to the dealer and notified jaguar only to find out a buyback program is in place so I started it. I find it interesting that Jaguar had never contacted me regarding this buyback and I only found out about it when I did my own research. Very scary to think of. So now I have my car back and it is only able to charge up to 80% of the capacity which does not work and I am also very scared to drive this vehicle around. I am now going through the jaguar buyback process but it is slow and in the meantime I have nothing to drive. They know the car is a lemon and they have agreed to buyback so why is it taking soo much time?

Multiple recalls for this VIN. My vehicle has had 2 recalls. H415 fault has occurred 2x. Starting with Recall H441: I was NEVER informed that there was a FIRE/safety hazard due to a recall. Safety Risk/Repair on Jags site read "A vehicle thermal overload condition such as fire or smoke can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage", & "This software provides an enhanced level of driver warnings in relation to battery condition and where the software determines a risk exists, the High Voltage battery charging capacity is limited to 75%" which happens to be 5% over the warranty degradation threshold. Aside from never receiving any recall notice, when i got my car back, they never said ANYTHING about these dangers, nor was my vehicle limited to 75% capacity. H514: This fault came on in 8 & 10/2024 so I made an appts. They had no appts availability in earlier October so i waited. I was told 2x prior to bringing the car in that this was not a warrantied item so they would not provide me a loaner. After getting the car back 19 days later, my ac was fully inoperable and the H514 fault kicked in again. I made an appt with another dealership who has had the car for 6 days. They just informed me the code didn't come back up & was not in the system after they drove my car 100mi. My concerns are Jaguar's lack of transparency & how they're dealing with everything. After JUST finding out that my car can set fire, being told to park away from my house [or any buildings] and that i could not charge at home, my anxiety is through the roof. 12/6 my cars "ready" to pick up with a very serious issue acting intermittently. I have no confidence driving the car. What if a fire occurs while i'm driving?, the systems shut down & I can't exit in a fire? Perhaps i pull into my driveway/garage to unload something and the car ignites. ?'m at a charging station filled with EVs & fire starts?!

I received a Recall Notice dated 7/18/2023. I reached out to the manufacturer to obtain the new battery. As requested, I took the vehicle to my local dealer at which time they verified with corporate that my car needed the new battery as noted. I was told that the car could catch on fire because of the faulty battery. I was, of course, afraid to drive the car with me or passengers. I made many calls and sent emails to two different corporate reps at Jaguar. Many calls were not returned and emails were not answered. I believe that my local dealer also reached out to corporate in my behalf. I was advised that the car should not be garaged or close to any structures. Because of this, my car was moved to the street. Jaguar never got back to me to send the new battery to my local dealer for replacement. Had they replaced my battery in a timely manner, the car would have been stored in a garage when not in use. Since the car was exposed to the elements for Safety reasons, it blew up during the hurricane Helene on [XXX]. I am very disappointed with Jaguar Corporate for not fixing my recall so that my car could be in a safe place during Florida hurricanes. I feel that Jaguar owes my the value of the new battery to enable me to buy a new vehicle. Please advise. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Recall H514 2019 Jaguar I-PACE

Oct 9, 2024

The vehicle has a recall. With JAG stating that there is a temporary fix. In addition all the previous software updates, according to the dealer service department, simply caused a "HIGH VOLTAGE ERROR" light to continuously pop on. I have asked the dealer to perform their interim fix, but they are telling me that at this point they do not know how to do it.

Oct 4, 2024

My Jaguar dealer implemented what they said was a H514 interim recall update remedy on my 2019 I-Pace while it was in for other repairs. This remedy action is stated on this web site to "have their maximum state of charge altered to80%". Not less than or more than 80%. My dealer apparently gave a false high temperature signal to the current H441 software in my car and the car tripped to prevent charging > 72%. This brings in a large message on the dash "Traction Battery Fault". Jaguar is apparently taking a shortcut that does not meet their stated response to the NHTSB as to what they will do for the interim update. Truthfulness in Jaguars reporting to the NHTSB is in doubt due to this action.

Inquiry Regarding Safety Recall and Manufacturer Responsability Dear NHTSA, I am seeking your assistance regarding a vehicle I imported from the United States to Iceland. The vehicle, Jaguar i-pace 2019, has been identified as having a defective and dangerous battery, which is part of a safety recall in the U.S. Despite this, the manufacturer’s representative in Iceland refuses to honor the recall or provide a replacement battery, citing that the car is no longer in the U.S. Given the serious safety risks, I would appreciate guidance on what steps I can take or what recourse I have. Is there any possibility to enforce the recall or ensure the manufacturer takes responsibility even outside the U.S.? Thank you for your assistance. Best regards, [XXX] [XXX] --- INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2019 Jaguar I-Pace. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal felt significantly hard and the vehicle hesitated to respond, causing the braking distance to be extended. The message "Okay to Drive with Caution - Brake Pedal Feel Reduced" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where one of the 12-Volt battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact replaced the second 12-Volt battery; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing battery failure. The messages "Okay to Drive with Caution - Traction Battery Fault Detected" and "ASPC Not available" were displayed. The contact stated that the main battery was replaced. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V369000 (Electrical System); however, the failure increased after the recall repair. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the front drive motor failed to shift into gear, causing the vehicle to stall. The message "Gear Box Failure" was displayed. The contact was unable to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the drive motor and pawl actuator harness had failed and needed to be replaced. The parts were replaced. The contact also stated that water had leaked onto the dashboard through the windshield. The dealer replaced the windshield and the head display. The contact stated the brake failure had been recurring intermittently while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

On July 9, 2024, I contacted the Jaguar Columbia dealership in Columbia, South Carolina to schedule an appointment for the recall service. I spoke with Tabor in the service department who told me that Jamie Alexander, the dealership’s shop manager, advised him that Jaguar Columbia is not EV certified and the dealership does not have the equipment to complete the safety recall repair. On that same date, I contacted Jaguar’s Customer Relationship Center (as listed on the safety recall notice) to report the matter and ask for resolution. I was advised that there is an open case with Jaguar’s consumer affairs department that was started on July 1st. I was advised that the Customer relationship center could do nothing to help me because of the existence of this case that Jaguar has open. I have not been contacted by Jaguar regarding the status of the case and when I asked the Jaguar customer center for information to contact the Jaguar consumer affairs department, I was advised that the customer relationship center does not have any contact information for the Jaguar consumer affairs department. I would like to be contacted immediately by Jaguar regarding acceptable resolution.

Jul 7, 2024 Fire

Jaguar I-Pace was being charged, at home, using the 220v charging system. The charging unit had been in use with this vehicle for 5.5 years. On July 4, 2024 at 11:53 am, white smoke was observed coming from underneath the car. The charger was disconnected from the car. The fire department arrived and moved the car away from the house. At that time no smoke was visible and an infrared detector showed no heat. Approximately 1/2 hour later the car burst into flames, from underneath the car, just before the rear tire. The car was consumed in flames before the fire department could put the flames out.

Recall was 441 Battery traction, could start a fire. All started in Aug 2023 had in for recall it lowered my range to 72%. I had 98000 Miles still under warranty when this happened. Had back in dealership in for 6 weeks. They got range back at 250 for 3 days then went back down to 72%. They had me bring it in 1st week of feb for another update and told me I had to pay for new battery $15000, when it was never fixed to get back to range 240. I was told I could drive it and it would still be under warranty even if I go past 100,000 Mike's since this happened when it was still under warranty, I need help, please.

Since purchasing our vehicle, we have been beset with several problems. The battery system to the vehicle has been malfunctioning consistently since at least June of 2022. The entire electrical system in the vehicle did not respond. We had to have the vehicle towed to the local Jaguar dealer. In June of 2023, we had another instance where the car was not coming on and we had been receiving notification about a “traction battery fault.” We again had to get the car towed to the local Jaguar dealer because the vehicle was inoperable. We were told that the electrical battery and the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced after a service inspection on June 30, 2023 and “that is why the vehicle would not start up for us.” We received notice on June 28, 2023 along with other Jaguar I-Pace owners about an open recall of the electric SUVs made from 2019 to 2024 in the United States. The recall notice number [XXX] was issued after the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that “The high-voltage battery overheating increases the risk of a fire.” The NHTSA required the following remedy that “the battery energy control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update. In addition, battery modules will be replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge.” Our car received an OTA update to the software of the vehicle following the NHTSA recall and was cleared for pick-up on [XXX]. Yet, this did not solve the problems with the car. The battery problems have only become more severe with the vehicle. In December of 2023, we again experienced an issue where we got a “traction battery default” message. We took the car into the local Jaguar dealer out of fear of an electrical failure and the car becoming inoperable once again. The car stayed at the local dealer for over a month. The local Jaguar dealer informed us that the parts to replace the battery were on back order. Please see attached letter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATI

Concerning NHTSA ID Number: 11494560 Since filing the complaint in Nov 2022, the vehicle has had its parking assist module replaced, it was updated with latest software, and other camera software updated and calibrated. All of this was due to corruption and loss of functioning of all cameras when the software remedy for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V709000 was installed. The problem of no backup and forward cameras remains. Conditions on 20 December 2023: 42F in garage. Destination 12.9 miles away. Arrived at destination with car reporting 21F degrees. Neither forward nor backup cameras worked; no images and no trajectory lines. Camera symbols on display indicate they are not available. After a 33 minute stop, got back in car, car reports still 21F degrees, backup camera now works, and forward camera does not. Drove back home (13.2 miles) and found backup camera works but forward camera is black screen with parking trajectory lines. It needs to be investigated for failure to comply with standards.

Front and rear cameras inoperative below 32F. This happens every winter. Car parked in warm garage overnight. Back out and drive sufficient miles (at least 10?) and find cameras "unavailable" per display message. Cameras in side mirrors work though. The lack of the back up camera violates the FMVSS requirement for the camera to activate within 2 seconds of reverse engagement. I have not yet reported this to the dealer as it requires cold weather conditions to reproduce.

The BCCM in a high number of 2019 Jaguar iPace cars are going bad. The BCCM is the main charging component of the vehicle that controls the electrical system and creates a huge hazard and series of malfunctions when it goes bad. It renders the car immobile and you can not charge it. The dealerships and Jaguar North America refuse to recognize this. There is a significant backorder of these parts because of this issue and the dealership mentioned to me that they see this issue ALL THE TIME. Jaguar should be recalling this part for those of us, like myself, whose car is out of warranty.

Since April of this year, the car has consistently had problems! A few months ago, it started turning off suddenly!! Yes, suddenly even while driving! This was very alarming. I took it to the dealer in Cincinnati where it stayed for almost a month to be fixed! Then towards the end of August, it started running out of charge / not charging after driving a few miles with a dashboard warning to "stop immediately". I again shipped it to the dealer in Cincinnati where it has been there since then (over 6 weeks now!) Talking to the dealer, they do not seem to be certain of what happened and keep changing things. I am not sure if I feel safe driving such a car or owning it beyond the warranty

I tried to move my Jaguar I-Pace car yesterday - totally unresponsive. Finally got a door to open; dash said the car had zero miles (it had 140 available when last shut off). Then got a "Charging System Fault" message. Dash info kept turning off. Car won't accept electricity to charge, charging panel lights kept flashing, then all the doors locked and the alarm went off, with no way to turn it off as the key fob didn't work. When I googled "charge system fault" it is a common problem causing major headaches. It happened to a neighbor too; another I-Pace, different year! This needs to be a recall so Jaguar will address this issue before their cars die, not after. Per the internet, Jaguar is sometimes taking weeks to fix this which is unacceptable.

35mph limit road, moderate traffic, speed of 30-35mph suddenly car shows an error message on screen with regards to electrical fault of traction battery and reduced feel of brakes. On a contrary, brakes became extremely hard and unresponsive (zero braking efficiency) - car moving 30mph, no change in forward motion (minor jitter on the steering wheel), barely managed to change lane to avoid collision. If right lane would be occupied, that would be a certain collision with a car in front of me as I would have no place to bring the car to safety. Brake message cleared when the car stopped.

ON FEBRUARY 12, 2020, I LEFT THE HOUSE AROUND 9:15 A.M. TO ATTEND A YOGA CLASS AT 9825 CARROLL CENTRE ROAD, SUITE 400, SAN DIEGO. THE YOGA STUDIO IS LOCATED IN A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT AND AS I WAS EARLY, THE ENTIRE PARKING LOT WAS EMPTY EXCEPT FOR ONE OTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AM THAT MORNING. SO I DROVE AROUND IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING, #9825, AND DECIDED TO PARK ON THE OTHER SIDE FROM THE ONE VEHICLE PARKED THERE. SEE FIGURE 1. (SEE MAP OF 9825 CARROLL CENTER ROAD LOCATION. THE RED RECTANGLE SHOWS WHERE I PARKED; BLUE RECTANGLE SHOWS WHERE THE ONLY OTHER VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARKING LOT AT 9:30 AM ON WEDNESDAY, 2/12/20.) AS I SLOWLY PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPOT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS ONE DOES WHEN PARKING, THE JAGUAR I-PACE SUDDENLY SURGED AND ACCELERATED, DRIVING OVER THE CURB AND HEDGE IN FRONT ON TO THE OTHER SIDE AND RAMMED INTO THE PARKED VEHICLE, A VW BEETLE! IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE! SEE FOLLOWING PICTURES INCLUDING TREAD MARKS, SHOWING THE ACCELERATION WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE PARKING SLOT. I WAS VERY SHAKEN BY THE INCIDENT AND SAT IN THE CAR FOR SOME TIME IN TOTAL DISBELIEF. THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR OR IN THE CAR I STRUCK. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO MOVE, I GOT OUT OF THE CAR CAREFULLY AS IT WAS BALANCED ON TOP OF THE BUSHES WITH SOME OF THE WHEELS IN THE AIR. THE OWNER OF THE VW BEETLE ALSO CAME OUT ASKED IF I WAS OK. FORTUNATELY, I AM PHYSICALLY OK, JUST VERY SHAKEN AND TRAUMATIZED BY THE ENTIRE INCIDENT WHICH HAD LASTED NO MORE THAN SECONDS. THE NEXT 6 HOURS WERE SPENT CALLING MY INSURANCE, AAA FOR EMERGENCY TOWING, RENTAL CARS, ETC. BY MID-AFTERNOON OF FEBRUARY 12, 2020, I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF JAGUAR SAN DIEGO THAT MY I-PACE CHECKED OUT OK AND ALL SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE CURRENT!

ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, TWO WITH MY WIFE, AND ONCE WITH ME, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AS IF THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR EVEN THOUGH OUR FEET WERE NO ON THE ACCELERATOR. WITH MY WIFE DRIVING, SHE WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACES GOING 5MPH OR SLOWER. I WAS COASTING DOWNHILL AT 40MPG WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. WE REPORTED EACH INCIDENT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY RELAYED THE INFORMATION TO JAGUAR TECHNICAL SUPPORT. IN ALL CASES JAGUAR SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND WANT US TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. THE LAST TIME THEY ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 100 MILES. MY 4-MONTH-OLD CAR'S BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE WHILE TRAVELING AT 60MPH IN THE FAST LANE OF THE FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND COAST ACROSS THE FREEWAY TO THE HARD SHOULDER WHERE THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN EARLIER IN THE DAY WHEN THE CAR REPORTED "REDUCED BRAKE PEDAL FEEL, OK TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION. LATER IN THE DAY A MESSAGE REPORTED "ASPC NOT AVAILABLE." AT THIS POINT I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED US TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT DAY. SOME TIME AFTER THIS ALERT WE RECEIVED A SERIES OF RAPID MESSAGES - "TRACTION CONTROL OFFLINE" "EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSIST OFFLINE - OK TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION" AND SEVERAL OTHERS WHICH I DON'T RECALL. THE FINAL WARNING WAS "GEAR BOX FAULT" - AT THIS POINT I THOUGHT IT WISE TO PULL OVER, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO USE THE BRAKES THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL. JUST A GRINDING, CRUNCHING FEELING UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL. I TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND COASTED TO THE RIGHT LANE THROUGH FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC, AND THEN ONTO THE HARD SHOULDER. I BELIEVE THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS WORKING AND THIS MANAGED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. ON THE HARD SHOULDER I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL HAD A GRINDING, CRUNCHING FEELING AND WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE PARK/DRIVE/NEUTRAL BUTTONS JUST FLASHED IF YOU PRESSED THEM. I WAS IN THE CAR WITH TWO CHILDREN UNDER 6 AND MY WIFE. WE WERE VERY CONCERNED AS THERE WAS VERY LITTLE SPACE AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NO WAY TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. WE PRESSED THE CAR'S SOS BUTTON AND THE WOMAN ADVISED WE CALL 911 TO BE RESCUED BY THE POLICE. JAGUAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SENT A TOW TRUCK TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO JAGUAR MONTEREY FOR REPAIR. A FEW DAYS LATER WE WERE TOLD THE CAR'S "POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX" HAD FAILED. THE CAR HAD NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS. WHEN PURCHASED IT HAD THE "ASPC NOT AVAILABLE" ERROR AND HAD TO GO BACK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR.
