WIPER MOTOR NOT WORKING
IGNITION SWITCH FAILED WHILE TRYING TO START..HARD TO TURN, THEN QUIT ALTOGETHER, HAD TO HAVE JEEP TOWED TO REPAIR FACILITY. HAD TO HAVE SWITCH AND COIL REPLACED . THE COIL WAS LOCATED IN A BAD PLACE ON MOTOR. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT. THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A KEYBOARD FOR A KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE WITH HIS WIFE AND, AS SOON AS THE DOORS CLOSED, THEY LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY. HE AND HIS WIFE ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, BUT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT BEGAN TO SMELL BURNING WIRES, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE EXACTLY WHERE THE SMELL ORIGINATED. AFTER 20 MINUTES OF ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK THE TWO FRONT DOORS, THEY WERE ABLE TO UNLOCK; HOWEVER, THE TWO REAR DOORS STILL CANNOT BE OPENED OR UNLOCKED. AFTER THE TWO FRONT DOORS BECAME UNLOCKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT NONE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES WERE WORKING. THE SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, AMP GAUGE, AND FUEL GAUGE WERE ALL MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE KEYBOARD FOR THE KEYLESS ENTRY HAD SHORTED OUT AND BURNED ALL THE WIRING IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 131,000. UPDATED 09/10/08 *BF UPDATED 09/15/08. *JB

THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN BACK. IT IS LOCKED IN PLACE. I HAVE TO PULL THE WIRE OFF THE DISTRIBUTOR & THE BATTERY CABLE TO KILL IT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL COMES ON. ALSO, THE HEATER, WS WIPERS & RADIO WILL NOT COME ON. MY BRAKE PEDAL STAYS DOWN CONSTANTLY, I HAVE TO PHYSICALLY PULL UP ON IT EACH & EVERY TIME (THE LAW HAS STOPPED ME FOR THIS). MY BRAKES MAKE A HORRIBLE GRINDING SOUND AT TIMES. I HAVE FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH ALL LINKING ABS SYSTEM FAILURE. *JB

IGNITION DOES NOT ALWAYS TURN OVER. IT SOMETIMES TAKES 15 MINUTES OF TRYING TO TURN THE KEY. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK AND PUT IT BACK INTO PARK TO GET IT TO START. IT IS NOT THE BATTERY. IT SEEMS BE RELATED TO THE VEHICLE BEING IN PARK OR NEUTRAL AND THE KEY TURNING OVER. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING OVER THE PAST 4 MONTHS. *AK

IGNITION SWITCH FAILS TO ENGAGE THE STARTER UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *JB
CONSUMER CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE CUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP 5 TIMES, AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND OUT WHY THE VEHICLE WAS DOING THIS. AFTER IT CUTS OFF, IT TAKES AT LEAST 20 MINUTES TO A HALF AN HOUR TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT IT WILL BE HARD TO START THE VEHICLE AND THEY WILL HAVE TO TRY NUMEROUS OF TIME BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL START. DEALER NOTIFIED. MR
THE FLOOR WAS SO RUSTED, WHICH WAS NOT VISIBLE UNTIL TH FIRE BROKE OUT. I HAD REPLACED THE CONVERTER AND MUFFLER FROM MIDAS, AND ON THE WAY BACK THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED, THERE SEEMED TO BE RUSTED FLOOR WITH HOLES.. I AM JUST COMPLAINING SO THAT OTHERS COULD BE AWARE OF THIS. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN TEN YEARS OLD.*AK

MY JEEP'S DOORS ARE FALLING OFF IN THE FRONT AT THE HINGES. THE WELDS THAT HOLD THE HINGES TO THE FRAME ARE CRACKING. AS FOR THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM IT SOMETIMES CLUNKS WHEN I GO OVER A BUMP OR TURN A CORNER. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY CAN NOT FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THE STARTING PROBLEM IS NOT ALL THE TIME MOST OF THE TIME IT STARTS RIGHT UP, BUT SOMETIMES IT WON'T START. I TRY IT TWO OR THREE TIMES AND THEN IT STARTS. I HAVE HAD THE STARTER REPLACED AND IT STILL DOES IT. *AK
IGNITION COIL IS PREMATURELY WEARING OR BURNING WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL STALL UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. DEALER REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH SO WHEN IT STALLS, DRIVER CAN START IT UP BY USING THE SWITCH. PRESENTLY, THE SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED, AND WON'T START UP VEHICLE. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
